Before running the business cards through the Duplex and gluing them together, they had to be pre-folded to make the rest of the process easier. I printed 8 business card fronts and 8 business card backs next to each other per sheet. This way you only have to fold them over to align the fronts and backs. This is what I'm doing in this video. The folding was kinda fun using this little machine to make it more efficient. It only took me about 5- 10 minutes to fold all 28 sheets.
I'm sorry about the background noise, it can be quite loud in the print finishing room. But the busy environment of students all around you being in the last stages of finishing their work can be quite motivating too.

"Clothing tags, travel cards, hotel room key cards, parcel labels … a whole host of components in supply chains of everything from cars to clothes. What do they have in common? RFID tags.
Every RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag contains a microchip and a tiny metal strip of an antenna. A cool 18bn of these are made – and disposed of – each year. And with demands for product traceability increasing, ironically in part because of concerns for the social and environmental health of the supply chain, that’s set to soar.
And guess where most of these tags end up? Yup, landfill – adding to the burgeoning volumes of e-waste polluting our soils, rivers and skies. It’s a sorry tale, but it’s one in which two young graduates of Imperial College London and Royal College of Art are putting a great big green twist. Under the name of PulpaTronics, Chloe So and Barna Soma Biro reckon they’ve hit on a beguilingly simple sounding solution: make the tags out of paper. No plastic, no chips, no metal strips. Just paper, pure and … simple … ? Well, not quite, as we shall see.
The apparent simplicity is achieved by some pretty cutting-edge technical innovation, aimed at stripping away both the metal antennae and the chips. If you can get rid of those, as Biro explains, you solve the e-waste problem at a stroke. But getting rid of things isn’t the typical approach to technical solutions, he adds. “I read a paper in Nature that set out how humans have a bias for solving problems through addition – by adding something new, rather than removing complexity, even if that’s the best approach.”
And adding stuff to a world already stuffed, as it were, can create more problems than it solves. “So that became one of the guiding principles of PulpaTronics”, he says: stripping things down “to the bare minimum, where they are still functional, but have as low an environmental impact as possible”.
...how did they achieve this magical simplification? The answer lies in lasers: these turn the paper into a conductive material, Biro explains, printing a pattern on the surface that can be ‘read’ by a scanner, rather like a QR code. It sounds like frontier technology, but it works, and PulpaTronics have patents pending to protect it.
The resulting tag comes in two forms: in one, there is still a microchip, so that it can be read by existing scanners of the sort common within retailers, for example. The more advanced version does away with the chip altogether. This will need a different kind of scanner, currently in development, which PulpaTronics envisages issuing licences for others to manufacture.
Crucially, the cost of both versions is significantly cheaper than existing RFID kit – making this a highly viable proposition. Then there are the carbon savings: up to 70% for the chipless version – so a no-brainer from a sustainability viewpoint too. All the same, industry interest was slow to start with but when PulpaTronics won a coveted Dezeen magazine award in late 2023, it snowballed, says So. Big brands such as UPS, DHL, Marks & Spencer and Decathlon came calling. “We were just bombarded.” Brands were fascinated by the innovation, she says, but even more by the price point, “because, like any business, they knew that green products can’t come with a premium”."

Note: I know it's still in the very early stages, but this is such a relief to see in the context of the environmental and human rights catastrophes associated with lithium mining and mining for rare earth metals, and the way that EVs and other green infrastructure are massively increasing the demand for those materials.
I'll take a future with paper-based, more humane alternatives for sure! Fingers crossed this keeps developing and develops well (and quickly).

OC Calico X Task Force 141
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Missing home was a part of calicos’ daily routine.
During the spare hours of the day she’d be thinking of the next time she’d get to cram onto a busy tube from Victoria Station.
She’d dream of the first time after a long time of standing in the cold and shielding from the rain with her friends outside an overpriced bar in Central London, sipping Prosecco, even though she’s always hated it, but never had the heart to tell them..
She missed the way home made her feel- Some days, more than others.
This was in fact, one of them days.
She was swamped head to toe in paperwork, deadlines, mission reports, “that person’s injured”, “this person wants to arrange a meeting” and the list unfortunately went on..
She huffed and moved away from her desk, throwing her head back and feeling tears form in her eyes and stress taking over her body.
her thoughts were disturbed by a knock at the door-
“Come in!” She called half heartedly.
Gaz struggled as he entered the room, holding a large box, covered in brown paper with small tiny illustrations of christmas trees and Santa hats all over it.
“this, my darling was left, for you” he smiled brightly, dropping the heavy package on the desk making a loud thump as it left his hands.
Calico furrowed her brows, inspecting the parcel on her desk.
“For me?” she replied in disbelief “What for?”
All Gaz responded with was a shrug “No idea, was just labelled as ‘special delivery’ and addressed to you” he smiled softly at her, turning to leave the room.
She forcefully ripped off the paper, the amount of sellotape on this thing was criminal.
with one last pull of the plastic, the box was finally open.
she delved inside, rummaging through layers of red and green tissue paper.
She found a small card, written on it was “To our Frankie”
she flopped back down on her chair, opened the envelope, and pulled out the card.
There was a picture on the front of two penguins in hats and scarves ice skating around a Christmas tree. She smiled to herself and read the inside;
Frankie,
Home feels strange without you here, we spend everyday missing you and thinking about you, we hope that this helps you in the same troubled times, and we hope it helps you remember the feeling of home..
P.s don’t eat them all at once, and remember to share, we know what you’re like!
All our love,
Mum, Dad and Freddie
the tears that were looming over her began to fall, she smiled and held her hand to her chest, the warmth of love radiating inside her, like a glowing orb where her heart once was-
she wiped her tears on the back of her hand, placing the card upright on her desk beside a picture of her, her parents and her younger brother.
she got up and dove into the parcel without a second thought, she found all sorts of her favourite goodies and treats she loved from back home that filled the box to the brim.
Dairy milk bars, tonnes of them, so many she’s sure she could start her own trade here on base, wine gums, boxes of Yorkshire tea bags, biscuits, the absolute lot.
as she dug deeper to the bottom, she found a small printed picture of her and her two friends, Shelly and Kate- it was one of the last pictures they had taken while she was on leave.
The three of them outside her childhood home, arms wrapped round one another, smiles and sunburned cheeks, all with glasses of whatever concoctions they were drinking that night.
she turned the photo over to another message, neatly written in bright pink and purple gel pen with small doodles of hearts and stars around it,
“WE MISS YOU TOO! CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU CALI”
P.S- YOU DON’T HAVE TO SHARE THIS ONE!
LOVE YOU ALWAYS,
-YOUR GIRLS<3
X O X O
Calico shook her head and huffed out a laugh, she peered into the box where there was two mini bottle of Prosecco and a tacky picture frame that looked like it fell and stumbled out of the nineties, the words “best friends” around the pink and green frame.
she slid the picture in and placed it next to her other ones that scattered across her desk, smiling at the reminders of the people who wished her a safe return home.
She placed the items back in the box and slid it under her desk, taking one of the chocolate bars out and happily munching away while returning to the work ahead of her.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Calicos’ day was now slowing coming to an end, she had made a cup of tea with the goodies sent from her Mum and sat herself down behind her computer, shoving another piece of chocolate in her mouth before tackling the last piece of work ahead of her.
Another knock at the door appeared causing her to almost choke on the mouthful of chocolate she had crammed in.
“Yeah- uh..come in” she muffled out.
“Heard you had a delivery love?” Price poked his head round the door, smiling at her with intrigue in his eyes.
Calico squinted “yeah…maybe..” she replied cautiously while swallowing the evidence to try not to give herself away, her Mum wasn’t wrong- she did not like sharing.
“what’d ya get then?” Ghosts’ body moved in behind Price, his dark eyes making her break and her previous innocent look start to crumble slowly.
“Aye don’t be all secretive bonnie, let us av’ a look then” Soap tried shoving his way past both bodies standing in her doorway but failing and only his head appearing below the Captains.
Calico put her head in her hands and laughed at the sight.
“It’s like you lot get the most minuscule scent of a good cuppa and suddenly become like bloodhounds searching for it” she chuckled, shaking her head “is there more of you or-?”
“Yeah, i’m here too i just- i don’t think anymore of us can fit in this doorway” Gaz called out
Calico rolled her eyes and smiled, motioning for them to come in and sit with her.
the placed themselves round her little space watching intensely, like small primary school children during show and tell, while she showcased the goods she had been sent.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Tea’s had been made and shared out between the group, biscuits had been dunked and wine gums had been shared, much to Calicos’ disgust but, part of her didn’t mind so much after seeing the happy looks upon their faces.
They spent most of the night snacking away as the sky got darker and the base got quieter.
Calico turned to the box and dug out a chocolate bar she had been keeping for herself.
She peeled back the purple wrapper and snapped it bit by bit, she handed a strip of it to each of them, smiling as she did.
They all savoured it, the taste that was so familiar to them all, reminding them of their childhood, Christmases with loved ones or anytime there was a bowl full of treats on the family table.
Calico smiled at the sight, she nibbled the last piece and sat back in her chair next to Price.
He sighed contently finishing his last square and taking a sip of tea before speaking.
“tastes’ like home”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Note from Honey: If you made it this far thank yewww for reading <3 i really hope you liked it, i feel like it’s not much but BARE WITH, i have so many ideas for this character.. at the moment they’re all kinda balled up and bundled in a box lmao

Hello :) F, I, S for the ask game <3!
F: Share a snippet from one of your favourite dialogue scenes you've written and explain why you're proud of it. Well this was hard to do. But okay, this is from chapter 15 of no such thing as over this. Clyde has offered Emily a job running an international taskforce out of London that seems to have been made specifically for her. Will's just walked into the bank.
...
“If it was you,” she says, barely moving her lips, watching Morgan trying to calm JJ, “I don’t know. . .”
“I know,” Hotch murmurs, his voice low and soothing. “We’re gonna be okay. You ready?”
“Yeah,” she replies, but then her phone is buzzing in her pocket. “No. Hold on.” She looks at the caller ID. “It’s Clyde – he can wait,” she says.
“No, take it,” Hotch says. “He might have something we can use.”
She swipes to answer. “Make it quick,” she says. “I’m on my way into a shootout with some bank robbing serial killers.”
“Does he know who the woman is?” Hotch asks.
“Was that Agent Hotchner?” Clyde says, all polite curiosity. “Do you know what he said to me, when he was trying to track you down? He said, ‘if anything happens to her, I will destroy you’. He meant it, darling. Would he be anything to do with the reason you’re considering refusing a very attractive job offer in my nation’s capital?”
“Oh, a girl can’t turn a job down for her own reasons?” she says. “There has to be a man calling the shots?”
“I’m speaking as a profiler, Emily, not as a misogynist.”
She rolls her eyes. Hotch shoots her a what the hell are you talking about look, and she holds up a finger: give me one minute. “I’m afraid I’m busy right now, Clyde – you’ll need to profile me another time.”
“Wait,” he says, suddenly all business. “Before you cut me off and get back to your gunslinging, tell me this. The team is all over – managing it out of London has been a marriage of convenience. If I made you the same offer, right now, based out of DC, would you take it?”
“Yes,” she says immediately, surprising herself.
“Wonderful,” he replies, satisfied. “Best of luck with your shootout – I’ll start printing your business cards. À bientôt, ma belle.”
She looks at the bank, at the door Will disappeared through and immediately took a bullet. “J'espère,” she replies, and hangs up.
“Anything?” Hotch says, as she stashes her phone back in her pocket and adjusts her earpiece.
“Nothing relevant.”
...
And idk, I like it because Emily and Clyde's dynamic is just kind of fun to play with. There's always some amount of power play and reading between the lines going on, they never seem to just be 100% upfront with each other, he's always a little bit flirtatious and she never really flirts back (interesting in itself when she flirts with plenty of other people). And then with Hotch in the middle hearing half of it like 'wtf'... Idk I just liked it. And I always wanted some acknowledgement of the 'I will destroy you' moment because that is a Big Thing to say and then just never have it come back in any way at all.
It took me a long time and a ridiculous amount of back and forth to figure out what her new job was going to be, because I really didn't want it to be running an entire Interpol office. (Because that makes no sense as a step from where she was, and I think it starts her on the path to miserable workaholic she's clearly committed to in Evolution.) So it was going to be a promotion in the FBI for a while... But I had "I'm speaking as a profiler, Emily, not as a misogynist" in my outline from the start and I really did not want to have to kill it lol.
I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)? Answered (or non-answered) here!
S: Any fandom tropes you can't resist? Always here for only one bed and all its ridiculous permutations. Fake dating is fun. All those forced proximity 'oops I'm attracted to you, who knew' tropes.

Bookshops are a precious shelter from the storms of life
I found myself with a line from Bob Dylan’s Shelter from the Storm in my head: “Try imagining a place where it’s always safe and warm.”
Bookshops have been in a perfect storm of online competition, business rates and parking charges for a while, but they will always survive. Even the tornado of the pandemic won’t defeat them. The customers, from the tearful first few on the day bookshops reopened after lockdown to the joyful children getting back on the rocking horses or gazing at the fish, seem to feel the same way.
“We all become stories”, as Margaret Atwood once said, and the same is true of bookshops. When we refer to our favourite bookshops, we’ll mention the cat or the nice coffee, or the spiral staircase, or the really knowledgeable children’s buyer. Book-ish, which I recently stumbled upon after getting lost in a Welsh storm, has old typewriters lined up above the bookcases, all donated by locals, a reminder of how a community can take a bookshop to its heart.
Customers have told me how bookshops inhabit their subconscious as well. Graham Greene dreamed in such detail of a London bookshop that he went to look for it twice before realising it was completely dream-forged. In bookshops, as Virginia Woolf noted, we can lose the carapace of self, we can flit around our levels of consciousness and inhabit any of our potential selves. After reading that Greta Garbo spent hours in Rizzoli Bookstore because she needed “a break from being Garbo”.
Perhaps the most important self you can rediscover in a bookshop is from your childhood. Recently, a woman in her mid-60s was buying a contemporary literary novel when a dreamy look came over her and she asked: “I don’t suppose The Silver Sword is still in print?” I’m the same age, and we both identified deeply with the refugee in Warsaw during the second world war who kept his parents’ paper knife – the “silver sword” – in a shoebox. She was surprised when I told her it is still consoling children facing the storm of adolescence. Like The Magic Faraway Tree and I Capture the Castle, it is part of the secret canon, unknown to academia, of shot-in-the-arm books.
They exist for adults, too, and sell as steadily as chai in Delhi. They are written in a sort of trance-state burst of creativity, like Brideshead Revisited and 1984, the result surprising their authors but forever feeding the reader-soul. These are the books which are sniffed before purchase and hugged or kissed afterwards.
Serendipitous browsing throws up discoveries and rediscoveries in a way that algorithms never can. Every day there’s a customer who thumps a great pile on the till and exclaims “I’ve got to get out of here before I find any more – I only came in for a card.”
But whatever the storm may throw at us in the meantime, bookshops will forever be a shelter where it’s always safe and warm.

Business Stationery Printing Services
In the fast-paced business world, first impressions matter, and one of the most tangible ways to make a lasting impression is through well-designed and professionally printed business stationery. From letterheads and business cards to envelopes and notepads, each piece of stationery reflects the identity and professionalism of your brand. In this article, we'll explore the importance of business stationery, the elements that contribute to effective design, and how investing in quality printing services can elevate your brand image.
The Importance of Business Stationery:
1. Professionalism and Credibility
Business stationery serves as a visual representation of your company's professionalism and credibility. A well-designed letterhead or business card conveys a sense of legitimacy and attention to detail, instilling confidence in clients, partners, and customers.
2. Brand Identity
Consistent branding is key to establishing a strong identity in the market. Business stationery provides an opportunity to showcase your brand elements—logo, colors, and typography—creating a cohesive and memorable brand image that resonates with your audience.
3. Marketing and Recognition
Business stationery acts as a subtle yet effective marketing tool. When your stationery is thoughtfully designed and carries a professional touch, it becomes a powerful branding asset. Whether it's a business card handed out at a networking event or a letter sent to a potential client, each interaction reinforces your brand in the recipient's mind.
Elements of Effective Business Stationery Design
1. Logo Placement
Placing it strategically on your business stationery ensures instant recognition. Whether it's centered on a letterhead or prominently featured on a business card, make sure the logo is clear, sharp, and in line with your brand guidelines.
2. Typography
Consistent and legible typography is crucial for effective communication. Choose fonts that align with your brand personality—whether it's modern and sleek or classic and traditional. Maintain a uniform font style and size across all stationery to create a cohesive and professional appearance.
3. Color Palette
The color scheme of your business stationery should align with your brand colors. Consistency in color not only reinforces brand recognition but also creates a visually appealing and harmonious design. Ensure that the chosen colors complement each other and enhance the overall aesthetic.
4. White Space
Embrace white space to create a clean and uncluttered design. Adequate spacing around text and graphics enhances readability and gives your stationery a sophisticated and modern look. White space also draws attention to key elements, guiding the viewer's focus.
5. Contact Information
Ensure that your contact information is easily accessible on all stationery items. Include essential details such as phone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses. Make it effortless for clients and partners to reach out to you, reinforcing a sense of transparency and accessibility.
The Role of Quality Printing Services
1. Print Quality
The quality of printing can make or break the impact of your business stationery. Investing in professional printing services ensures sharp, vibrant, and durable prints. High-resolution images, accurate color reproduction, and attention to detail contribute to a polished and impressive final product.
2. Paper Selection
The choice of paper speaks volumes about your brand. Whether you opt for a sleek and glossy finish or a textured matte paper, the tactile experience adds to the overall impression. Quality printing services offer a range of paper options to suit your brand aesthetics and the intended use of the stationery.
3. Customization Options
Professional printing services provide customization options that allow you to tailor your stationery to specific needs. From embossing and foiling to unique paper sizes and finishes, customization adds a touch of exclusivity and ensures that your business stationery stands out from the rest.
4. Consistency Across Items
Professional printing services ensure that each piece of business stationery, from business cards to letterheads, maintains a uniform look and feel. This attention to detail contributes to a polished and professional brand image.
Conclusion
In the competitive landscape of business, where every detail matters, investing in professional business stationery printing services is a strategic decision. The tangible nature of stationery makes it a powerful tool for reinforcing brand identity, communicating professionalism, and leaving a memorable impression on clients and partners. By paying attention to design elements and partnering with quality printing services, you can elevate your brand and set the stage for success in every interaction.

Day 17 - Prompt: Embrace @pandalilymicrofics
February Daily Series - 595 words
<<<Previous Part OR Start Here
As they approached the psychic’s impromptu tent, Lily’s curiosity turned wary. The pricing written on a chalkboard propped against a stump was smeared and had obviously been rewritten a few times. £45 for a half-hour reading was rather steep, in her opinion.
Pandora was entirely unfazed. She strode through the tapestries without hesitation. “Madame Trelawney?”
Lily followed her, curiously eyeing everything inside the stall and attempting to embrace her former commitment to open-mindedness again. There was a small square table and four stools in the centre with baskets of crystals, candles, and anything that could be printed with constellations on it stacked on a table nearby. A rack of keychains announcing, “My psychic knows more than you,” “I know I’m psychic, my shirt says medium,” and “It’s not in the stars, it’s in your head” stood near the doorway.
“Welcome ladies! So good of you to stop by,” a willowy woman greeted her as she lifted from her stool. She reached for Pandora, then gasped when her gaze caught on Lily. “Oh! You’ve found your cardinal, I see.”
Pandora froze. When the young woman with thick glasses nodded toward Lily, Pandora’s head whipped around. “My card-cardinal?”
“Yes, yes! You must be so pleased!” The woman looked up and beamed at Lily. “And you!”
Lily was startled by the sudden shout and jumped back. “Who, me?”
Madame Trelawney rushed forward and clasped her hands around one of Lily’s. “You’ve never had a reading, have you? I'm your first!”
“Oh, I suppose so.”
Pandora quickly rearranged her expression as she perused the crystal basket with her hands tucked behind her back. Her fingers twitched and twisted together anxiously.
“Come, come. Sit with me,” Madame Trelawney said, tugging Lily forward. “Now, would you like a one card reading or a full reading?”
“One card,” Lily decided.
Madame Trelawney handed her a thick stack of cards. “As you shuffle the deck, think about the question or problem you wish to resolve. Then, cut the deck and stack it however feels right.”
Lily did as she was told while repeating, “Is London meant to be?” in her mind. She tried to clear her thoughts and focus solely on London: the busy streets filled with voices and traffic, bright lights and air thick with possibility, and the intense pull to the city that blossomed into a full blown obsession the last few months. The occasional dreams she’d had of exploring Leicester Square with…someone.
The figure was never fully formed in those dreams. It was always a soft hand in hers and a sense of belonging that she chased every morning after. Lily had never felt the need to have a partner before now, only a vague wistfulness that it would be nice.
She set the deck in the centre of the table and looked up at Madame Trelawney expectantly. The psychic tipped her head to the side and pursed her lips as she studied the tidy pile of cards. Second-guessing herself, Lily reached out and spread the deck into a fan shape.
“Ah! There we are,” Trelawney said, clapping once. “Now, pull whichever card appeals to you.”
Lily was tempted to pick up the top card out of spite, but decided to play along for Pandora’s sake. This was important to her and Lily would be damned if she slipped up again. She held out her hand and closed her eyes. After a few slow passes over the cards, she pointed to one at random. When she opened her eyes, the psychic was grinning like a well-fed cat.
“Turn it over.”
