November 16, 2024 - Cinnamon-breasted Bunting or Cinnamon-breasted Rock-bunting (Emberiza tahapisi) These buntings are found in open rocky or sandy areas in southern and eastern Africa and parts of West Asia. Foraging mainly on the ground, they feed on grass seeds, soft leaves, nectar, and insects. Females build cup-shaped nests in natural or excavated scrapes on the ground against rocks, small bushes, or grass tufts or in banks or rock faces. The nests are constructed from grass, twigs, leaves, rootlets, and bark, often cemented in place with mud. Females incubate the eggs alone and both parents feed the chicks.

Not an ask. Just FYI. Are you familiar with Star Trek Lower Decks? After 4 seasons, they finally identified Dr. Migleemo's species by name. He's a human sized bipedal bird. His species is called Klowahkans. Sound it out. The joke writes itself, those clever Lower Decks writers. Go look up Dr. Migleemo, and Dr. T'Ana. She's a cat-lady. Have a good weekend!
Hahah, Ive not seen the show yet.
That name is -___-
Here's a favorite bird for you...

LEAF BANNERS / BUNTING SETS
These cute little banner sets are ready for fall decorating! I’m really pleased with both how the white ink printed on black fabric, and how good the flannel flags turned out :)

November 8, 2024 - Gray-necked Bunting (Emberiza buchanani) Breeding in parts of West and Central Asia, these buntings winter in South Asia. They are found in dry, rocky areas with grassy and weedy vegetation. Foraging on the ground in pairs and small groups, they eat the seeds and shoots of various plants and feed invertebrates to their chicks. Females build nests on the ground under boulders, grass tufts, or shrubs, lining them with grass stems, wool, and hair. They usually incubate the clutches of three to six eggs alone, though it’s possible that males may assist them. Both parents feed the chicks.
