I saw someone asking why I labeled something as Peko/Buki even tho I'm a Kuzu/Peko shipper. Other then the fact multishippers exist, I didn't consider that as a Kuzu/Peko comic. Ibuki expressed more interest in Peko than Fuyuhiko.

Call me asexual but I don't think just because Fuyuhiko was close to Peko's hip, it should be considered explicit shipping.

So just to be clear on my stance, I am okay with you ppl labeling my art as any ship but there are some boundaries.

Don't label it with problematic ships like incest or age gap.

If the art is clearly about one couple, don't make it about another. But if it's just a group of ppl chilling then you can find whatever couple you like.

I personally hate Mahi/Peko but I know I'm gonna draw things exploring Mahiru's crush on Peko so that's on me if ppl interpret it that way. Just don't be weird, because I have no quams with never drawing Peko and Mahiru within 5 feet of each other. I've drawn Case 2 ten times and I've only drawn Mahiru once.

I made a list of Peko's relationship with others if you wanna know my stance on her ships.

Hajime -I will never let people forget Hajime has a canon crush on Peko. Besides that, Hajime is Peko's first true friend. Outside of Fuyuhiko, Hajime is the only person Peko feels comfortable confiding in her secrets. He doesn't judge and is very kind. Meanwhile Hajime goes to Peko when he needs a cool headed and rational opinion.

Chiaki - Queerplatonic, they snuggle a lot. Chiaki is chill and her games makes it easier for Peko who has no experience talking to people have things to relate to. Peko understands when Chiaki is emotionless for the most part and then burst into excitement when it's something she's passionate about. They developed their own little language in those situations.

Nagito - Nagito likes to take advantage of Peko’s kindness and clings to her. Peko doesn’t mind hanging out with Nagito but stares dagger into him when he’s being too forward with others (he doesn’t read social cues so he’s not gonna catch it). Nagito thinks of himself as a diet Fuyuhiko. As long as Peko provides support, he'll look out for her.

Teruteru - He's super turned on by Peko but gets flustered when she genuinely cares about him (turns out he does not have a mommy kink). Peko enjoys Teruteru teaching her about cooking so the two eventually bond over that.

Imposter - Peko’s best friend on the island. They both relate to not knowing who they’re supposed to be. At the same time, they don’t see each other as just victims. They’re both people trying to grow and become better. When these two are together some say they're TOO COOL (actually Ibuki is the only one that said this)

Mahiru - Mahiru has a giant crush on Peko. At first she believe she knows what’s best for her and tries to takes her away from Fuyuhiko. Once she accepts Peko doesn’t want her help, she tries to be happy for Peko and Fuyuhiko.

Hiyoko: Is jealous of Peko so she lashes out at her a lot. Originally it was for looking mature/sexy and gardening Mahiru’s attraction. But after she learned of Peko’s past, she’s jealous that she didn’t have her own bodyguard to protect her from the multiple assassination attacks she went through.

Ibuki: Queerplatonic, they kiss A LOT. Ibuki loves seeing Peko awkwardly cheer for her at concerts (imagine Pearl from Steven Universe type of awkward) Peko made Ibuki realize that quiet is okay. Because only when it’s quiet, she can hear Peko’s heart beat speed up. I think they would be a cute fling but these two come from two different worlds. Ibuki is a party rocking planet and Peko is a silent moon. Maybe if the stars aligned they could've made it work. But that doesn't mean you can't appreciate eclipses.

Mikan: Mikan’s ability to read micro facial expressions helps her interpret a lot of Peko’s hidden emotions. Peko likes Mikan but Mikan mistaken Peko’s quietness with secret resentment (she can read that Peko isn’t mad but sometimes mental illness makes you ignore facts). Mikan is had to get close to and Peko doesn't have the social understanding to truly know her.

Gundham: He has adopted her as his own. He feels the need to protect this person on par with his traumatic backstory. She must realize this too, that’s why she keeps flocking to him and his four dark devas. Meanwhile Peko only understands 50% of what he’s saying but she’s trying. Sonia (and Gonta in non despair AU) has to interpret sometimes. Giant Big Brother and Little Sister energy.

Sonia: Sonia is the extrovert who adopts an introvert. Sonia wants to hang out with all her classmates and one of the few who doesn't see Peko cool demeanor as disinterest. Sonia is the only one who can relate to Peko's isolation and only she knows the kind of loneliness that can come with being around others. Peko doesn't realize this on her part and it hurts Sonia. But Sonia doesn't stop trying.

Kazuichi: Scared and aroused by Peko. I head anon one time his trash picking robot accidentally took Peko’s sword and it exploded. Kazuichi was so scared to admit it to Peko but once he did - Peko was more concerned about him than her sword. He’s convinced she’s in love with him and begs Fuyuhiko to ask her out for him. Peko bluntly declines.

Nekomaru - Nekomaru passionately talks with Peko about a lot of things. At first it was Kendo, then it was training, proper diet, and it spiraled into Nekomaru talking excitably about his day. Peko is a good listener but even she can go deaf from all the yelling. Ibuki bails her out sometimes. I think Nekomaru and Sonia are the only people who know how to push Peko out of her comfort zone without overstepping. Ibuki can be too excited in getting Peko to do new things. Hajime and Chiaki doesn't see a problem with Peko doing her own thing.

Akane - The girls bond over being asexual together. No talk about love or mushy stuff. They talk with battle! At least according to Akane. Peko is hesitant to train with Akane because she believes only someone strong like Sakura could handle her blade. Akane takes that as an open challenge and tries to blindside Peko until she takes her seriously. Akane does have to learn boundaries at one point. Maybe the person who grew up in constant danger doesn't want to keep looking over her shoulders in case her classmates attack her.

Fuyuhiko - Ultimately, though everything, this blog will always be a Kuzu/Peko blog. Growing up, Fuyuhiko developed a crush on Peko but never acted on it. Only after a chance conversation with Sakura about what being in love is like, Peko realized in middle school she is in love with Fuyuhiko. By that point their relationship is strained. Fuyuhiko is constantly telling Peko he doesn't need a tool and pretend they don't know each other. Peko doesn't want to be forgotten by Fuyuhiko, this person she spent everyday with. She planned on asking him out, as equals, but then Twilight Syndrome Murder happened. There was no time for love when there was so much hate in his heart. Eventually after everything, the two realizes they need each other. Fuyuhiko only pushed Peko away because he thought she couldn't grow as a person if she was constantly worried about him. Peko realizes she can still care and protect Fuyuhiko as a fellow warrior by his side. These two understand each other so well that they don't need to talk. But this also leads to terrible miscommunications.

Confession: Before I realized that Ibuki is supposed to be a parody of the cast of K-ON, I was originally trying to compare her to the Touhou oni, Suika Ibuki. Yes, both characters have “Ibuki” in their names, but just hear me out on this. Suika is confirmed to be based on Shuten-douji and is named after Mt. Ibuki where he was born. Not only that, Mioda’s hairstyle made me think that they look like oni horns, like the ones Suika has. Those two facts made me think that Mioda might be the same as Suika, that she too is supposed to be an oni, is based on Shuten-douji and is named after the place he was born, that's what I thought at the time (I’m sure that some of you already knew this about Mioda, but I just felt like saying it in case no one else knew).

It’s only until now that I’ve been told that Mioda makes K-ON references, such as having the same birthday as Yui Hirasawa. Of course, I haven’t watched K-ON since like 2016, so I really don’t know any other references. But it turns out that the kanji in Ibuki's name can be found in the K-ON character names, "I" derives from Yui Hirasawa, "buki" derives from Tsumugi Kotobuki, "Mio" derives from Mio Akiyama, and "da" I think is supposed to be "ta" in Japanese and derives from Ritsu Tainaka.

I will say that at the time I watched K-ON, Yui was in fact my favorite character. She’s just really cute, and yet I never pictured Mioda like that due to how idiotic she can be (and my birthday is only a few days after theirs), isn’t it funny? So due to her name and appearance, when I think of Mioda, what comes to mind is oni characters like Suika, not Yui. But I guess every anime fan is different (If you want the truth, I’m more of a gamer than an otaku, so all my favorite animes are actually video games that are anime themed).

New year, new anime season.

Bofuri 2 - I’d been waiting for the second season of this for a few years and I’m happy it’s back. It’s such a chill show and it’s always fun to see how Maple finds creative new ways to use her skills. I am getting a bit bored though and I kind of want Maple to lose at this point but at least we get to see her struggle sometimes which is more than I can say for most shows with OP protagonists. Still a fun show.

Tensei Oujo to Tensai Reijou - I must admit, I’m a bit proud of how far this series has come. I remember trying the first volume when it initially came out and being impressed by the characterisation of the two leads and I would not have expected this to get an anime at the time. Furthermore, the adaptation is doing really well so far. It’s a bit rough around the edges and some scenes feel like they drag on but it manages to capture what makes the light novels special and the voice actors are fantastic. I‘m really glad that diomedea was put in charge of this one because it looks great with some really excellent animation cuts.

Danmachi 4 part 2 - I don‘t have much to say about this one that I haven’t said about part 1 already. It’s still got some rough bits of animation and doesn’t do anything better than the source material does but it’s still a fun ride and I’m looking forward to seeing more of it.

Delicious Party Precure - A satisfying conclusion to this season. I really liked this season of Precure, but it never became one of my favourites. I couldn’t tell you what it was lacking but it was lacking “something” that made certain seasons special. Still a really fun and relaxing time and something that I will eagerly revisit in the future. The villains were pretty good, the mascots were cute, and I loved Rosemary. Definitely hyped to watch Hirogaru Sky at the end of this year. (btw, I’ve currently completed 7 Precure series and my current ranking is: Hugtto > Heartcatch > Healin’ Good > Tropical Rouge > Delicious Party > Mahoutsukai > Suite. I watched 4 Precures last year and I feel like that’s a good pace so I’m hoping to match that this year.)

Usually in my January posts I will do a quick list of my favourites from the previous year but I’ve decided to postpone that until February this time. That way I can elaborate more on my picks and have a bit longer to catch up on a couple more shows.

- buki still has memory issues after the darkness with which ryo is very patient and helpful as ryo thrives off feeling useful. sometimes buki will pretend to forget things he knows that ryo knows so ryo can politely assist him and then ride that high for the rest of the conversation.

- fubuki recieves no shovel talks as he is the love magician and who would ever have the guts to school the expert? conversely ryo receives both a non empty threat to eclipse the world in darkness in the event of a broken heart from fujiwara and a very impassioned warning from manjoume who does stand on a chair for the height advantage. (and a much more bearable light teasing from asuka but thats nothing hes not already used to. )

- ryos cane is miraculously unbedazzled. the mysterious disappearance of fubukis bedazzling gun has yet to be solved.

Hajime with an insecure S/O headcanons:

~Huh? You’re insecure about yourself? Hajime is instantly by your side. 

~He asks what you’re insecure about, once you tell him he goes into boyfriend mode.

~It might sound weird but he just hugs and cuddles you. Of course, he is going to try to make you feel better about yourself but not now. He’s not good with this type of stuff so he just cuddles you.

~Feeling his warmth next to you, hearing his heart breathing, and his gentle breaths take your mind off feeling negative about yourself.

~Byakuya didn’t even come to the conclusion you feel down about yourself. You would have to tell him. Or else, he would have never known.

~I imagine him not knowing what to do in this situation. He tries to buy you gifts to cheer you up but it doesn’t work. It was comforting and slightly funny to see him try everything to cheer you up.

~So, you let out a little giggle and he sighs. He tells you he loves you and walks away to use the restroom.

~ When he gets there he just smiles like an idiot for how silly you were that you laughed at him

Ibuki:

~No, No, No! Ibuki can't have you feeling down about yourself. What does she need to do for you? Sing a song? Buy some food? Oh, I know...maybe tickle you to death?

~Just tell her what she needs to do to make you feel better about yourself again! She’s going completely crazy over here.

A box arrives for 1010. Inside are four soft scarves – red, green, blue, and white – and a second box with the name “HAYM” penned on it. A note sits atop all of these, written in very neat handwriting:

Happy Valentine’s Day. It is still cold out, so it is important to stay warm. There is a scarf in here for each of you, so please do me a favor and do not freeze.  PHANTASMA G'ORIE. Haym’s box contains a similar scarf in yellow, along with a heart-shaped note from Ibuki. Under the scarf is a clay bug figure, painted yellow and doused in glitter, with googly eyes and pipe cleaner antennae. Looks like a certain bug enthusiast put a lot of heart into this silly-looking thing.

“She knows we probably can’t freeze right?” Zimelu asks, examining his scarf carefully.

“No clue. She could also just be being nice, too,” Purl-hew adds. He’s laready wearing his scarf, and he’s helping Eloni to tie theirs. “That’s also an option, considering Hay got a whole box to himself.”

Rin is flinging his scarf around his neck dramatically like a movie star with a boa, watching Haym who was staring intently at the labelled box. “Whatcha get Haymie?”

Haym opens the box and fishes out the card first. The squeak he makes at the sheer adorableness of the heart-shaped card causes his siblings to pay him and his box closer attention.

“Buki made me a cute card! Oooo there’s a scarf in here too!” As he pulls the scarf out from the box, some of the glitter from the gift underneath comes with it and Haym’s eyes light up. He quickly wraps the scarf around himself, throwing  glitter across the living room in the process. Then he leans over to look inside the box... and the squeal he lets out is so high in its pitch that a cabinet actually cracks.

“IT’S SO CUUUUUTE!!!” Haym lifts the creation out of the box and holds it above his head. He mouth is agape and he’s not moving, but from the bot you can hear the beginning bars of Circle of Life playing.

The others don’t have the heart to ask exactly what it is.

Mrs. Raynor was a pain in the ass ..but he had to agree...it helped. Slow...but it did. Also talking with you through the night. Back home. Somehow Bucky was more....revserved..more silent. Lost in himself. Sometimes he had it. But since he was now a bit longer gone for a walk...worry started to bubble in your stomach. The door opens and Alpine jumps from the couch to greet the man, that rescued her* "Bucky i"m glad youre ba-...oh.." *Blue eyes unsurely gazing at you. The once shoulder lenght hair gone. Now in a short style , similiar like he used to wear it in the army...but still more modern* "I thought...it may look more...you know...suiting.." * he shrugged as he took of his gloves, cap and jacket* "oh Buky" *without words you take him in your arms* "Youre perfect as you are" "thanks doll...."

Omg my beautiful friend this was absolutely wonderful! 🥺❤️ I just loved it so much and you know how I afore beefy Bucky in his Henley and you’re right- we love him no matter his look and Walker can take a hike! Ugh! He cut his hair and of course he looks amazing!!!! Such softness! I love him like this so much! And I love how she brings him such happiness!!! Thank you so so much for this soft fluffy love! Valentine's day gifts

2 gifts were left in the upper level of the warehouse for Phantasma and Ibuki. The one labelled for Phantasma had a bouquet of yellow roses a bottle of prime wine and a large box of various chocolates. the note reads: I hope you have a wonderful valentine’s day. – Neon J

The one for Ibuki had a small bouquet of yellow snapdragons as well a generous amount of chocolates and v-day themed candies. There was also a photo book on beetles. all sorts of beetles! the note reads: I hope you have a great Valentine’s day. it was the little girl bounding up the stairs who’d noticed the gifts first. tiny hands would have taken all those chocolates for herself had her mother not arrived in the nick of time, looking over the bunch of roses before seeing the notes.

hm, so this lovely bunch was from j…

phantasma couldn’t help but smile at all of it. it was thoughtful of him to even think about her, much less spoil her and buki. but she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t grateful for it; sometimes it was nice to be cared about like that. and plus, the flowers were cute.

as she arranged the snapdragons and roses in a vase together, ibuki paged through the beetle book. occasionally she’d stop to show her mom a particularly cool bug, and soon they sat together in the workshop, paging through bug after bug together like it was a storybook. it was an odd gift, but a thoughtful one for sure.

she couldn’t help but wonder if he’d received her gift yet…

She’d stood on this clover-covered hill before with the withering gaze of Eas, the empty eyes of the girl lost in-between, and now as the self she was comfortable in, Setsuna. The green was so much more vibrant to a heart that wanted to let it in. She wanted to commit it to memory as strongly as Yotsuba itself: the stillness of the clovers under the brilliantly blue sky, the view extending out over clusters of buildings people she knew called home, and the fresh air far from the bustle of Clover Town Street.

It was bittersweet. Setsuna was going to miss it, just like she was going to miss so much else.

This goodbye was intended to be a silent send-off to the town, alone and introspective. Finding a place she could start off alone wasn’t any use against being interrupted later. Recognizing the panting voice of a friend and the frantic rustle of footsteps, she turned her head from the view. Inori, their Buki, running full tilt and swinging her arms to carry her faster changed Setsuna’s surprise to relief.

Parting with the Momozonos was a lengthy, satisfying occasion. Without that much time to spare for Miki and Inori, her regret was still fresh. Setsuna was more than happy to be handed a second chance.

“You’re still here!” Inori cried, throwing her arms around Setsuna’s neck. Setsuna could only laugh and wrap her arms around her winded friend in return.

“I’m still here. Hehe, this is more affectionate than you’ve ever been with me.” It was nice, the soft body embracing her and thick ginger hair up pressed against her cheek. She never wanted to let go.

“I’m really sorry!” In a panic, Inori pulled back. “I was just so relieved I wasn’t too late…”

“It’s okay. Did you want to talk for a minute?”

“If you have the time,” Inori said bashfully. “I don’t want to inconvenience you all.”

Setsuna turned to face the crest of the hill where Westar and Soular — to onlookers, Hayato and Shun — waited for her. Stepping closer to them, she called out, “Can you wait a little longer?”

“Labyrinth isn’t going anywhere,” Soular answered. “We have time to spare.”

“As long as you come with us eventually!” chimed in Westar.

“I will! Thank you.” Setsuna gave them a grateful smile and they graciously stepped out of view. The considerate shift in their personalities was still difficult to believe, but she wouldn’t trade them back for the world.

Inori had stayed where she was, hands clasped together in front of her. Her eyes lit up upon seeing Setsuna nod on her way back. With a heavy exhale, she sank down to sit among the clovers.

Setsuna was soon to join her. “How long were you running? You look really tired.”

Inori flushed, tilting her face away. It was cute. “Um… a while. Is that embarrassing?”

“No, not at all.”

Inori’s shoulders lost some of their tension. “I wanted to ask you some things. Is that all right?”

“Yes. Ask whatever you’d like.”

“You’re going to miss us, right?” The vulnerable question slipped out as she stared hard at her simple brown shoes.

Setsuna replied without hesitation. “Mom and Dad and Love are my family, and you and Miki are my best friends. I’ll miss you more than you can imagine.”

“Oh, I’m so glad to hear that. I know it’s silly, but sometimes it’s hard to believe I mean that much to the people I care about. I’ll really miss you too.”

Setsuna shook her head. “I’ve gone back and forth so many times on if I should believe the same thing, so I guess that makes me just as silly.”

Breaking through her fatigued anxiety, Inori giggled into her hand. “I don’t know. I’ve always thought you were really cool.”

“Even when I walked out of dance practice and you had to come find me?”

“You started dancing with me even though you were self-conscious about it, didn’t you? I definitely admired that.”

Bashful herself over the praise, Setsuna closed her eyes. “I’ve always been happy that we’re so alike. Finding someone that understood me back then gave me a lot of courage, and even now we’re not ever really alone in what we feel. Pushing through the weaknesses we share makes you pretty cool to me too, you know.”

A meaningful silence took place, and then Inori brought it to an end. “Setsuna?”

Looking over at her, Setsuna nodded. “Yes?”

“I had something else I wanted to ask you. I decided I shouldn’t keep a secret anymore, because I’d regret it forever if I did and never saw you again.”

“What is it?”

“Is it okay if I like you?”

Setsuna blinked. “Eh?”

While Inori had spoken impulsively quickly a moment before, hesitation crept in now. Her hand quivered against the clovers between them. “I… like you. As more than a friend. I have for a while now, but I could never get the courage to tell you. There’s no one I’d rather support more.”

“Buki…” Setsuna’s heart and mind had already started to race. Inori liked her? Inori liked her?

“I know I’m just an average girl from Earth who lives in an average veterinary clinic. I’m not anywhere near as special as you are. So even if I don’t make you feel the same way, is it okay to admire you?”

Setsuna moved her hand to rest over Inori’s, bringing the trembling to a close. The cloud of an uncertain future hanging over her didn’t stand a chance against the light those words carried. Inori glanced down in surprise and then searched Setsuna’s face for an explanation, never pulling away.

“And I’m just an awkward girl from another world who’s still discovering who she is,” Setsuna said softly. “You’re perfect the way you are.”

“A-Ah.” Inori’s face, redder by the second, seemed to be only barely restraining a joy she worried was too early to express.

“I like you too. I didn’t always know what that feeling was, because Love and Daisuke made me think that liking someone meant wanting to fight with them…” she explained with a laugh. “But the more I thought about it just being the two of us, the more we confided in each other, and the more you smiled at me, I understood. Once I did, I was too concerned about what would happen in the future to burden you with it. I’m sorry for making you do this.”

Inori let the contentment wash over her, taking up the most normal breathing pattern she’d had the entire exchange. She shyly rearranged their hands to lace their fingers together among the clovers. “Please don’t apologize. Thank you for telling me now.”

They scooted closer together, sitting arm to arm. A few minutes passed while they talked about fond memories, and the comfort in their intertwined hands filled Setsuna’s heart to the brim with a new kind of happiness.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t bask in the feeling forever. “I shouldn’t make them wait for me much longer,” she said, and as she stood, she pulled Inori’s hand up with her. Letting go of that was what she least wanted to do, and from Inori’s move to take Setsuna’s other hand in hers, the feeling was mutual.

“Good luck. I have faith it will work out for you.” Inori smiled encouragingly, but her eyes glistened with the hint of tears. “Try to visit if you can and tell me all about it, okay? I’ll be waiting.”

Setsuna’s heart felt heavy. Could she? Yes. Should she? Not until they could get Labyrinth on track. She didn’t even want to think about how long it might take. Visiting this colorful, ever-accepting world would make it that much harder to return to her duty. Here she had the loving family she’d ached for since long before she even knew it, here she had friends, and here she had Inori.

“I’ll try. I’ll be waiting to see you too. Until then,” she added, stepping closer and leaving a delicate kiss on Inori’s cheek, “Goodbye.”

Too tempted by the closeness, Inori wrapped her arms around Setsuna one more time and rested her forehead on the other girl’s shoulder. “Goodbye.”

Setsuna gave in to the brief embrace, savoring the satisfying fluttering in her chest a little longer. When it ended, Inori left at a much more casual pace than the way she’d arrived. After following her with affectionate eyes, Setsuna set off to find the men waiting for her.

Soular and Westar were right over the hill, engaged in a conversation a lot less combative than they used to be. Even before Chiffon saved them, she’d noticed they’d gotten closer without her around. Now, she could even see a genuine smile on Soular’s face. Knowing she wasn’t the only one to have created positive relationships — something she had yet to fully mend with the two herself — gave her more confidence in their ability to turn Labyrinth around.

Soular was the first to notice her. “Were you able to say what you needed?”

“Yes. I’m ready to go,” she answered, starting to walk through the space between them.

“It’ll be fine.” Westar slapped her on the shoulder strongly enough to make her stumble a step, but she knew he meant well. “We’ll make everyone in Labyrinth just as happy as the people are here.”

“I know we will.” Part of her might have felt like crying, but Setsuna still smiled up at him with a confidence as warm as the sun.
