I wish there was a better screenshot of Beef Fury™ in the finished scene, rather than just that screenshot from the animation reel. Though, part of the issue with the finished scene is lighting... perhaps I just want to look at a model turntable. I want to see how these two Light Furies differ from Nubby, if indeed the smaller one differs at all.

You know what, he actually looks a bit better proportioned than Light Fury Prime; certainly he’s better proportioned than the literal twig stood next to him.

Actually, thinking about that screencap I just reblogged with the Beef Fury from an animation reel of some kind. I’m pretty sure that that is indeed meant to be a male one, bc it ties into that dumb little storybook that was a tie-in product for the film, which explicitly mentions the Light Fury’s parents. (Tho idr if they mention a mom and dad specifically; maybe her folks are lesbians and one is butch or smth idk.)

Whether or not this is true is completely irrelevant to what I just realized, however. This large, most likely male Light Fury, is both extremely buff, and fucking huge. There isn’t that much size disparity between Toothless and his wifey, who are admittedly different (if closely related) species. So, unless we assume that Buffs McHugelarge is meant to be fucking ancient, maybe even a Titanwing (which ain’t impossible, since I don’t think actual Titanwings ever show up in the films at all, and the games do really weird shit with their designs in order to make their purchase more appealing), then this kind of size disparity could be normal for that particular species.

My point being, if we assume that all male furies far outstrip the females in both size and girth, and we look at how Toothless isn’t that much bigger than Wifey...

Just how fuckin tiny are the female Night Furies meant to be??
