“What do you think you’re doing?” Dazai stops. He pivots, slowly, and smiles pleasantly at Ranpo. “Why, I’m getting lunch, of course!” “Mmmhm…” Ranpo tilts their head, “and how, exactly, are you planning to get down to the café?” Dazai’s smile tightens. He can’t lie to Ranpo, because they’ll see straight through him. They already know the answer to their own questions—what they’re expecting is a concession and a change of plans, which Dazai refuses to give them without a fight. “My leg is doing fine today, Ranpo-san, you don’t need to worry about me. I’ll take the elevator back up once I’m done.” He places one hand over his heart. “I swear on my life.” Ranpo furrows his eyebrows. He’s silent for a moment, and then says, “You know, I was about to head down for lunch too. But the stairs are too much work for me, so I guess I’ll see you whenever you finally get down there.” He shrugs, then turns away from Dazai and heads for the elevator. Dazai blinks. He was expecting more of an opportunity to argue, but Ranpo has given him an ultimatum now. Which means— “Wait!” Dazai calls out. “I’ll come with you.” Ranpo grins over his shoulder, and while Dazai technically lost the fight, seeing Ranpo’s expression almost feels like a victory of its own.

OOOOOO OKOKOK

So I low-key need to give a brief character overview first? Ok er so Brooke is the character I first came up with (her character low key originated in another fandom as a very derivative semi-oc, who has taken on a life of her own)! She has a sort of apathetic attitude to begin with? Like just to life in general. She’s here, and so she’s living her life, but nothing is… great for her, yk? She was outed to her school at around 16, and tho most ppl were fine, there were a couple of the proper lads who sucked abt it. It messed with her tho, so when she finished that school, she moved as far away as she could and only keeps up with a few friends (including, ironically, the friend who accidentally lead to her being outed in the first place. Her life, in her eyes, just isn’t all that, and she doesn’t really have much she cares abt. She’s a bit of a thrill seeker, sometimes dangerously so, but when she meets Cody, she ends up caring a lot more abt a lot of things

Cody, on the other hand, is absolutely terrified to die, to the point that she struggles sometimes with being too scared to do risky things. She had just like a regular dream, when she was 17, that she died, and woke up with a sense of absolute horror. She felt like she had wasted her life up until then, like she just hadn’t gotten to do what she wanted bc she was too scared/procrastinating. One thing in particular she realised she hadn’t done was come out/look for someone to date. And so, eventually, she meets Brooke, and ends up thoroughly fascinated. Cody’s desire to do new things and Brooke’s desire to have fun/thrill seek mesh well, and lead to very fun/eventful dates

🚓 Brooke 100%, but Cody has gotten caught with her before! I don’t think they’d ever have been arrested in any way that would stick, but smaller arrests? Brooke is racking them uppp

🏝️ holiday: oooo I’m thinking like a proper Caribbean island holiday vibe, sunbathing and swimming on the most picturesque island ever. Cody would be the one who really wanted to go, to experience it at least once in her life, and Brooke would think she didn’t care and was just indulging Cody, but actually would have the time of her life
