Poor councils make bad situations worse says Ombudsman
People who have been treated poorly by their local council are all too often having their situations made worse when their council delays putting things right. That’s the view of the Local Government Ombudsman in her annual review of all the many thousands of complaints received from the public in 2023-2024, including nearly 200 from residents in Croydon. The Local Government and Social Care…

Bromley (from swan Princess) x Princess reader.
Tumblr media
Bromley had always been content with his role as the loyal friend and sidekick to Prince Derek. He had accepted that he wasn't the one to get the girl, that he was just a supporting character in Derek's story. But everything changed one day when he met Princess Y/n.
y/n was unlike any other princess Bromley had ever met. She was fierce, Independent, and had a sharp wit that matched his own. From the moment they met, they had a frenemies kind of relationship. They constantly bickered and teased each other,
but deep down, Bromley couldn't help but feel drawn to her. Derek had asked him about his feelings towards Y/n saying that he just wanted to see his friend get his happy ending but Despite his growing feelings, Bromley refused to admit them, not even to himself. He had convinced himself that he was content with just being friends and that he didn't want to risk ruining their relationship. But everything changed when Derek revealed something she had told him.
She always wore an eye patch and the reasoning behind that was shocking. She had an eye that could travel through parallel versions of the future after she was cursed as a baby although she'd say it was more of a gift than a curse. Derek prompted him to go ask to travel into his future so that he could see if 'side characters' could get happy endings or not. The thought of being able to see what the future held was exhilarating. But then a thought occurred to him. What if he saw a future where she wasn't in his life? What if he saw a future where she was with someone else.
But Bromley shook off his anxiety the best he could. He went to Y/n and asked her to show him his future, she warned him that he shouldn't take the future in the parallel universe too seriously seeing as they can make their own future. "Take my hand. And don't let go, or you could end up in the wrong place and be lost forever" She had said to him before they stepped through the portal. "Aww you do care" he said teasingly just as she grabbed his hand and jumped through the portal. Once they landed she teased him for screaming like a girl.
She took note that they ended up at a slightly different version of her castle, she had a bad feeling upon seeing a statue of herself in front of the castle. She knew that it might mean she was dead in this universe. She told him to go on ahead and to meet her in the gardens later so they could go home. And she also told him to remember what she said about the future here not being set in stone.
Bromlelys anxiety grew but he still pushed it down as he searched for his future self. He was shocked to find out what the future held in store in this universe.. He had grown up quite a bit and was clearly harboring a lot of pain. He was known as "Sir Bromley" and he was now in charge of Y/n's kingdom.
"You wouldn't know what it's like to lose her." Older Bromley said to him. "What happened..?" Bromley asked. He then found out that there was a war and that future Bromley blamed himself for the fate she met. He told him that the longer he hesitated to tell her how he felt then the sooner her untimely end would come.
The more you let your fear hold you back, the sooner it's going to hurt once she's gone. Don't make the same mistake I did, you still have a chance to have your happy ending even if you don't think it's in the cards for you.
"Tell her how you feel before it's too late."
With those words ringing in his ears, Bromley knew that he had to make sure the future didn't end tragically. He ran into the garden and sought out y/n and before she could ask any questions he hugged her tightly before he poured his heart out to her, his feelings and his determination to prevent losing her.
Y/n was taken aback by his confession, but she couldn't deny the way her heart fluttered at the thought of Bromley liking her. but she had never pursued anything with him because of their constant bickering. He told her about the tragedy that might occur in the future and as make a rather impulsive ask without thinking it through. You see Y/ns kingdom used to sail the seas and he knew how much y/n loved that so he asked her to run/sail away with him and they could make their own future.
Y/n didn't hate the idea seeing as she was never interested in ruling a kingdom but she knew that they still had a bit of growing up to do, she accepted his feelings and her own, she told him that eventually she'd go away with him but not just yet. It took a good 4 years before she was sure they were ready. And in that 4 years he was kind and loyal he showed time and time again that as long as he was around he would keep her safe. They made each other laugh and helped each other grow as people. needles to say their relationship was filled with unconditional love that anyone could see.
Derick and Odette were there to see them off as they sailed towards their future together, hand in hand, Bromley remembered his chat with parallel future him and knew that he would be willing to lose everything in life as long as he got to keep her. They had both taken a chance on love and had found happiness. Proving that anyone could find true love. A hero, a villain or in his case a sidekick. <3

Bromley 2 AFC Wimbledon 0
Saturday 17th August 2024 – EFL League Two – Hayes Lane, Bromley Fifteen years ago this month I visited Hayes Lane for the first time. Despite living almost on the doorstep for over a decade I’d never had a compelling reason to visit. Back then, Non-League football was something people went to watch not through choice but desperation. I thought I was a happy Premier League fan, but deep down I…

'The Bromley Boys,' directed by Steve Kelly
Movie, 2018 Feel good, plucky underdog story following the best part of a season of Bromley FC, and one of their keenest, most obsessive supporters. Not really much which hasn’t been done before, which constantly seems to remind you you’re watching a well-worn genre film, even if the entertainment and emotional pull are both pretty good. A hint, too, more than anything else, of the deep set…

Finally a 'tram' rolls up at Crystal Palace - except it's a bus!
No, that wasn’t really a tram you just saw trundling up Anerley Hill. It was the new, tram-lookalike 358 electric bus, part of a fleet of 20 zero emission vehicles which have come into service today. Electric-charged: the new 358 bus, which came into service today It has been 20 years since various Mayors of London promised a tram extension to Crystal Palace – liar of liars Boris Johnson made the…

The delusion of 'outside agitators' was designed to comfort shareholders, writhing from an excoriating article by Annie Besant in the newspaper The Link, on Saturday 14 July 1888. She wrote:
Do you know that the women and girls whose labour made the 22½% dividend paid in February last are living, or dying, in Old Ford, Bromley, Tiger Bay, and other districts of East London, on wages varying from 4s to about 13s a week? That sometimes the wage goes even below 4s, and that a girl of sixteen years of age, a fortnight ago, was discharged with 2s 8d to represent the result of a week's toil? Do you know that it appears even from the miserable shuffles of your secretary, Mr Carkeet, that the 'average wage' of the 'adult female workers' in your employ is only 11s 2d per week? And consider, the fact that there is an 'average wage' of 11s 2d does not help women, who, like the twenty-nine-years-old wife of a dock labourer, the mother of five children, took home 5s 6d last Saturday week . . . How would you like, wife of a clerical shareholder in Bryant and May's, to keep house for a week on 11s 2d? How would you like to start for your week at half-past five a.m., and reach home again at seven p.m., having been on your feet nearly all the time, and after doing this for five days, with an additional half day on the Saturday, to take home 11s 2d as a reward? And if you did reach the average, but only got the 5s 6d, and had been at the work for fifteen years, might you not say, like my poor friend said to me the other day, 'I'm most tired of it'?
