The origin of blood part 2

Blood was home watching his daughter midnight, making a mess of her food. Blood was happy he saved his daughter. Blood was happy he could watch her grow up, but something inside him felt uneasy that something terrible would happen, then luna walked downstairs, sensing blood worried brother, you ok? Blood was half asleep from staying up with midnight. luna didn't wake him but took midnight on a shopping spree. Pinkie was quietly walking downstairs, luna Pinkie, and midnight went shopping so blood could sleep as luna and Pinkie were walking midnight started chewing on lunas horn then her ear then midnight jumped to pinkie almost knocking her off balance midnight started chewing on pinkies ears then her hair surprisingly it was cotton candy but midnight didn't like it then midnight fell off pinkies head but luna caught her with her magic that was close pinkie giggles I guess she doesn't like cotton candy hehe midnight face had a tiredness luna place midnight on her back covering her up with her wings your really good with kids babe luna blushed well I did help you with blood and surprise jr amd you helped alot with me to babe yeah.... I'm just worried about blood he still needs training babe how can he be trained if no pony can train him, but God?.....luna was just scared of losing pinkie or her happiness then a kiss from pinkie got her mind focusing on now and what's happening finally I got your attention? Spike, listen, do your best rarity, and will love you no matter what their will be a failure at a time, but you learn from it your right luna thank you spike ran off to rarity. Pinkie and luna walked out of the ville and down a hidden path to see how aj was doing. Plus, aj will get to see midnight for the first time. Why didn't we just teleport their babe? Because nature is a wonderful time, luna learns to repeat and love nature. Maybe you can teach me one day, Mother Nature luna giggled kissing Pinkie gross you two sorry cousin midnight then climbed on luna head blowing Raspberry midnight? Applejack asked curiously yes, "That's midnight, then midnight tackled applejack winding her as midnight laid on her, pinning her to ground, unable to get up storng....one..... aj passed out from getting winded, then big mac came by pies? Apples then mac thinked pie or pies? Then Pinkie said apppppppppppplllllllllllleeeesss

Mac bowed, sigaling the other apples to a meeting they met in the barn. What do we do with midnight? Pinkie didn't know they couldn't leave her here babe go get my son, I'll wait here, ok babe, I'll be back. Love you, luna. flew off back to sugar cube corner pinkie waited, talking to aj about the future. applejack didn't care because life moves on Pinkie. She knew that but always wanted to be helpful aj knew Pinkie meant well, but she thinks Pinkie needs to worry about blood because he may be alive again but pinkie knows it's only a matter of time till blood loses control then luna came back without blood hey babe blood will be here soon blood then teleported yawning mid let's go time to eat midnight woke up instantly jumping on bloods head as they teleported away applejack got up saying midnight is adorable but how long can blood stay in control tho? Does it matter? Pinkie said a little mad at aj. It should matter pink because god is more powerful than all the princesses, no offense, luna none taken, but we know the cost we have surprise jr making a special dagger just in case but will this "special dagger" work? We won't know until the time comes, hopefully not soon. My son just got a second chance at life. I don't want to lose him again, applejack felt bad. What if the rest of us help blood stay in control? We already think about that, but we realized God needs to teach blood to stay in control. aj knew that's the only way, but we can still try to, tho right? No, I talked to God about that she needs to train him by herself. That's bullshit pinkie we are... we were the mane 6, then out of nowhere rainbow dash came crash down into the dirt groaning oh shit dash you? Rainbow dash was already dead before the impact damn she's dead!? What killed her? I did blood, appeared with a towel covering his wet hair, and his wet tail but Pinkie noticed a different color at the end of the towel. Did she prank you again? No that fuckin cunt destroyed my natural color hair and my damn tail she deserved to get killed luna giggled saying it can't be all bad? No?! Blood took off the one towel on his tail and head, and then applejack started busting out laughing, falling on the ground. Pinkie fainted while luna was shocked that Pinkie fainted fanning pinkie to wake her up. Pinkie woke up screaming in terror, my sons natural color destroyed nooooooo pinkie fainted again. Aj passed out from laughing so hard maybe we can fix it somehow? Luna said nervously. I doubt it she got my fuckin roots!! Luna gulped maybe you can rock the rainbow hair? Heh... are you kidding me? I look like the rainbow factory werid pieced rainbow. Maybe we can get some makeup to cover up your scars and stitches? Oh yeah, perfect, then every pony will think I'm a girl with rainbow hair. Luna cleared her throat, m-maybe you could change your appearance? So you don't look like a mare? Heh..... pinkie then slapped Luna say that again I fuckin dare you I made that fake skin for him to make sure he doesn't get bullied for being rare Luna was shocked holding her left cheek i-i'm sorry pinkie...... mom, it's fine, she didn't know.... what?! Twilight Sparkle - Would become obsessed with the aetheromechanics of a valleywide magical phenomenon locked to a specific geographical region that triggers a two-part payload 'curse' and develops a kajillion theories about it...before remembering the question of who her favorite character is, at which point she'd say Cologne because she seems really wise and aged and smart which she swears isn't an allegory for anything, Rainbow!

Applejack - Ukyo, and as soon as the chef appeared in the manga Applejack would learn to make an apple okonomiyaki.

Fluttershy - She'll say Kasumi, mostly because she knows people expect her to want to be taken care of, but she really LOVES Shampoo because she's strong and assertive and Fluttershy wishes she was those things.

Rainbow Dash - Ranma, and her only problem would be with Ranma's obsession with finding a cure. After all, Ranma's mare form is faster and more dexterous, why wouldn't she want more of that?

Rarity - Nabiki. She'd kin Nabs and hopes that, should magic ever arrange for her to meet her hero, that they would actually get along well enough rather than fight like two tigers on a hill because they're so similar to each other.

Pinkie Pie - Pinkie wouldn't have a favorite, because who could pick, really? But she would have an anti-favorite: Happosai! He's, like, the unparty! He exists to make people frown, and that cannot stand!

Spike - Hiroshi and Daisuke, background bros stick together, amirite?

Princess Celestia - Nodoka, who reminds Celestia of her own mother for reasons that nobody should look too deeply into.

Princess Luna - Miss Hinako. They both have two forms, both are feared for reasons both legitimate and not, and both have difficulties fitting in with their peer group.

Sunset Shimmer - Akane, and she'll say it's because she understands the complex character that has a temper but has a caring center, but it's really because she kins Ranma and has a fictional-character crush on Akane.

Discord - The springs. He'll say it's because of all the chaos they cause, but the way he talks about them seems to suggest that not only does Discord know where the springs are in the multiverse but has met them and they're somehow sentient. Nobody is brave enough to dig deeper than that.

Lyra - Yuka and Sayuri, she saw them standing next to each other in an early volume of the manga and decided that they were a pair of filly foolers and ships them so hard. Any time they're on the page she'll point out twenty bullet points as to why they're THE OTP of the series.

Bon Bon - Honestly doesn't care, she just enjoys Ranma 1/2 because Lyra got her into it and gets excited whenever those two background characters make an appearance.

The Grrrreat and POWERFUL Trrrrrixie!!! - Kodachi, mostly because it just pisses most other fans off that the psycho is mentioned in the "best character" column, but over time it goes from ironic enjoyment for the lulz to genuine appreciation for a smart, attractive, athletic mare who knows what she wants and goes after it.

Starlight Glimmer - Konatsu, she just seems to have fallen for the poor, love-starved transmare that just happens to be so insanely powerful she can actually keep up with Ranma.

love that this series is canon in mlp. love that rarity could turn on her tv and watch it if she wanted. who do u think their favorites would be

WOW have I got a lot of bull to put down on paper. the voices in my journal seemed to have stopped too, just like Twi said they would, so Im feelin real good right about now!!!

so yeah its been like 5 days or something. (the dates on the top of the pages kept track of time, which, WTB??? gotta ask Twi about that—actually. maybe not, not after all the juicy gossip that I learned and gotta write down. AWWW BUCK IVE GOT SO MUCH I HAFTA WRITE ABOUT)

ive got so much to write about, but i really wanna write about what happened today... today...♡

ok ok so ill breeze through the other three days or whatever between the 19th and 25th

20th: First of all, Tavi hadda go to frickin' Manehattan by the express and wouldnt have come back until 10 so bleh. My day was going badly and i was a grumpypants, but Pinkie showed up and got me a whole-ass Chocolate cake so I was pretty good. I insisted upon saving 7/8 of it for Octavia's sake once she got back, much to Pinkie Pie's chagrin, but I simply had to, for there is no more romantic gift than Chocolate.

Otherwise, Pinkie took me to see her friends like she Pinkie Promised. eh. lemme give you the run down on em.

~Pinkie~ yeah she introduced me to herself and I buckin love her for it to no end!!

~Twi~ back to the weird-ass treehouse library thing and the purple unicorn who tried to take my journal from me. I swear that mare... she was in the middle of a very delicate experiment or something when we galloped in (literally) but that's not really important because she really DOES have a dragon for a little brother, and his name is

\_~SPIKE~_/ cool bro, y'know, just a chill wyrm. yeah, I'm kinda freinds with a dragon, but it's not like it's a big deal or anything. Pinkie wanted me to give him one of my bottles of Berry's Super-Squeezy Pan-Galactic Fizzling Champagne and I wholeheartedly agreed, but Sparkle said Spike's just a baby dragon and can't have alcohol. (but shouldn't dragons be able to drink way more than ponies...?) Spike protested and threatened to give me juicy gossip on Twi if she didnt let him have the bottle, and she didn't, and he did. HOLY BUCK. no i am not writing it here because that... euhg.

but yeah I would definitely invite him to my raves or to play at the arcade if only Sparkle did't say that Spike's too young to be out that late or to spend his bits on something so silly as an arcade game. i gotta find a way to get him a party of his own, at least, since he really is chill. only thing I can fault him on is that he has fingers and he talks about Rarity Belle a bit too much but at least he wasn't trying to scold me for 'corrupting a baby' like a certain somepony i know. I swear she's almost like a mother to that dragon, it's weird.

~Rarity~ Rarity Belle. Menace.

~Rainbow Dash!~ i did not get to bucking see rainbow dash. damn you, Pinkie! Damn you and your adorableness that makes me forget all about being angry at you and notn being able to find the rainbow mare... awwwwwww. I'd kiss you, but I'm 100% committed to Tavi. (especially AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

~Applejack~ I get the feeling she didn't like me very much. Still gave me a free apple fritter that Pinkie forced me not to save for Tavi and had me eat right in front of Applejack, deliberately. kinda sus...

~Fluttershy~ Classic blushing wallflower. I bet Pinkie 10 bits she's a fillyfooler and that is 10 bits i intend to collect after I set Shy up with a nice mare. Maybe Tree Hugger? Well, by any means, Fluttershy sure is shy. Don't know what I expected, but it wasn't awkward manic conversation completely predicated on Pinkie Pie's motormouth. I loved it, as usual, as it meant I didnt have to talk a lot, and I think Shy loved it too, which was basically a prerequisite to being friends with Pinkie. Strangely enough, Shy knew I was a fillyfooler even before Pinkie brought it up...

I think she's the most sensitive mare I have ever met. She also rocks the emo hair-over-the-eye thing like a boss! I invited her to come hang with me and Octy since we weren't doing anything but she got real nervous and shaky like a puppy and made an excuse to not come, something about her animals. Which, fair. But I'm pretty sure her cheeks were blushing with the force of Celestia's sun under her pink hair, which is another Point in favor of the fellow fillyfooler fheory... She knew that me and Tavi've been fillyfoolers, so surely

Pinkie Pie really looked like she was 2 seconds away from hatching a harebrained scheme about herself looking after Shy's animals so Shy could come have a night with us but I made her back down. It's actually really easy, you know; all it takes is a hoof to her chest, closing your eyes, and shaking your head mutely. So we went from the cabin, Pinkie with unbridled joy in her heart and I, I with an evil plan to get my ten bits from Pinkie by getting knowledge of Shy's preferences through a straight conversation, a chat between girls, if you will >:)

Pinkie asked me what we were going to do that night, and I told her that we would be doing the same thing we do every night: trying to take over the world. By which I mean going back to my and Tavi's apartment and between us three, and a bottle of that Fizzling Champagne, making a party we can all enjoy. and yes, she did indeed bucking love the Chocolate cake i saved for her. (the parts Pinkie didn't eat, anyway :/)

21th: so i mean, well, when we were drunk on the 20th Pinkie Pie made me Pinkie Promise to 'spin my magic mare, make the music fly and we can have streamers and wubbalishious (sounds good to me) cakes flying around and we can give out kazoos (blashpemy) so ponies can humalong to the songs (even worse, but don't worry, l put a stop to it. too bad she just gave out free mini accordians to everyone...)' on this day.

this Pinkie Promise, though, was really a crazy idea, or whatever the right metaphor is. (i dont care, im tired as fuck and i wanna get to today AAAAAAA I CANT WAIT UNTIL I GET TO WRIITING WHAT I DID TODAY). anyway, A Pinkie Promise to have me hang out with a buncha ponies I dont know a thing about with totally incompatible tastes of music AND accordians???? in not just a rave, but a PINKIE-STYLE rave??????? BONKERS.

so I was setting up for the Pinkie-style rave and it suddenly like dawns on me that this is the perfect opportunity to finally convert the dishwasher so that it cleans dishes with wubs! heh lol. so I did.

aaawwww, whom i kiddin. it was a disaster. think of whatever disaster you're thinking of: technical malfunctions? angry drunks fighting? police intervention? raids against Lunar cultists? earthquakes? tornadoes? the CMC?

yes. multiply it by 10 and you get the party on the 21st

Background AD&D info for Stranger Things Fans

I'm doing it, I'm writing an overly-long post A WHOLE SERIES of overly-long posts about how the Stranger Things kids play D&D, and what exactly first edition and AD&D were for.

Source: I've been playing since 3rd ed/3.5 era, NOT AD&D, but I've had a lot of friends who've been in the game for much longer and I'm kind of a nerd for rulesets so I watch D&D bros go off on youtube sometimes for fun. Also, I've actually read the AD&D player's handbook, which is an experience let me tell you. If anyone who's played older editions wants to chip in, go for it!

I think I'm going to have to write a separate post (or posts...god hopefully not posts) about the kids' individual classes. So stay tuned for that. I'll link it from this one when it's done.

First, some history: The earliest editions of D&D are a little confused, numbering-wise, because they didn't know there were going to be numbered editions yet. Dungeons and Dragons debuted in 1974 as an offshoot of mini-based tabletop wargames that already existed at the time. These were mostly big games, where players controlled whole armies rather than creating individual characters, and set their forces against one another. (Not unlike very complicated games of chess, if you really think about it.) D&D was not, to my knowledge, the first individual-character-based ttrpg, but it became the biggest pretty readily.

Advanced Dungeons and dragons, or AD&D, came out in '77 or '78 (Wiki says '77, the publication date on the copy I've been using says '78), although they were still publishing Basic D&D as an alternate option, more or less until the mid-nineties. AD&D was a lot more rules-heavy and had a lot more intricacy going on (relatively speaking), and it's the game the ST kids play.

Compared to modern D&D, AD&D's basic rules feel both more and less. The mechanics themselves are often way more complex, and navigating your way through all of those percentage tables as a DM implies a pretty high level of math skill, worth noting for both an 11-year-old or a guy who failed senior year twice. The character options, on the other hand, feel slim. On first glance.

AD&D only has five classes -- ten if you count subclasses, which you probably should for AD&D. There's fighters, with special fighter subclasses ranger (Lucas's class) or paladin (Mike's class); clerics (Will's class, supposedly), with special cleric subclass druid; magic-users (or mages, theoretically El's class), with special mage subclass illusionist; thieves (NOT rogues! but this is definitely Lady Applejack's actual class, with some caveats), with special thief subclass assassin; and monks. You will note I did not mention bards. We will get to bards. (Probably in the character post, when I talk about Dustin. Bards are...special.)

AD&D had no barbarians, no warlocks, no sorcerers. No special, prescribed forked paths for a character to venture down. Subclasses functioned mostly like classes do nowadays -- you'd roll up a character and be a paladin from day one, simply lumped under fighter because many of the core mechanics were the same. And a significant percentage of text given to describing these classes seems full of really restrictive orders and conditions. Clerics are never allowed to use a bladed weapon? Druids refuse to touch metal? Assassins must engage the local guildmaster in a duel to the death in order to progress to level 14? Where's the creativity, asks the modern 5e D&D player? Where's the freedom?

And this highlights a really core, central thing about how AD&D works and what it was for, that I think modern audiences can very easily miss:

1st edition AD&D is a game about archetypes.

Modern D&D is a game played in a sandbox that's been dug up and worked over for the past fifty years, in a cultural landscape that values individuality and originality and sometimes pretends that daring to share a trope with anything that came before is somewhere between boring and a straight-up crime. Original D&D came with very different baggage, and while it was still very much a game about storytelling, the KINDS of stories being told were a little different.

Characters weren't intended to be highly specialized, granular creations with intricate backstories and complex individualized skill sets. This wasn't even because those kinds of character-driven games or narratives were seen as bad, necessarily -- it's simply not what the game was written for!

First edition D&D was designed for big, epic adventures, where players could embody their own personal instance of a specific stock character trope. It was written for "I want to be a knight!" and "I want to be the magician!". It was about getting to be YOUR VERSION of a very particular, already-existing idea that would have been familiar from fantasy fiction at the time.

So, when the AD&D rules say that druids hold oak and ash trees sacred, that they will never destroy woodland or crops under any circumstances, that they cannot and will not use metal weapons or armor, that there only exist nine Level 12 druids in the world and they form a council with students below them -- this isn't an attempt to micromanage players, to be arbitrarily pedantic or controlling. This is Gary Gygax attempting to present the archetype that 'druid' is meant to encompass. This is what a druid is, according to this ruleset: a priest of nature, part of an order with rules and loyalties, with these priorities and these ideals. Mechanics and personality are not divorced in AD&D as they are in 5e; they are written together, to outline a specific character concept, and that is what's presented for the players to get to play.

If this sounds like it leads to boring, formulaic stories -- well, it could. But archetype-based stories, particularly adventure stories, are by no means necessarily bad. A story about a mysterious and knowledgeable old wizard; a naive-but-determined farmboy full of destiny and potential; a reckless rogue, slick but sometimes bumbling, selfish but secretly loyal; a beautiful princess, charming and clever and sharp-tongued when she wishes to be -- it's a pulp novel full of stock characters and tropes. It's Star Wars. What makes Star Wars special is NOT that its characters are specific, convoluted, or entirely original. What makes it special is that the specific instantiation of these characters, the little things that make Luke Skywalker be Luke Skywalker and not any other callow farmboy. Star Wars uses these archetypes well, and that makes them deeply satisfying. THAT'S the kind of story ethic behind AD&D.

First edition D&D has a reputation of being all about combat, and not about story at all. And on the surface, it's somewhat true: AD&D's rules are also highly combat-based. This isn't because players were expected to only do combat and dungeon crawls, and never roleplay -- but it WAS expected that, by signing on to play D&D, players were most interested in a campaign of exploration and fighting towards some fanciful goal. There was an element of buy-in from the start. The game was (and still very much is), at its core, about going on a quest.

The thing to remember, though, is that a quest IS a story. It's not the psychological trauma-unburdening character-driven narrative that pop culture might tell you to expect in modern D&D, but AD&D was every inch as story-based as the game's ever been. The stories being told were a little different, but with a very similar root.

The 1979 Dungeon Master's Guide is actually full of information about how to set up a world and stock it with people, political factions, and socioeconomic logistics. There are extensive rules about how high-level adventurers become part of the political fabric of the realm, building forts and amassing followers and making names for themselves. (Here, again, we see echoes of AD&D's forebearers in war games, and certain elements of the game that are all but gone from modern D&D.)

What there AREN'T a lot of rules about, on the other hand, are things like skill checks. There's no "persuasion" or "investigation" in AD&D, no list of specific things players can do and how good they are at them. Aside from combat and a small handful of specific non-combat activities, discretion over the success or failure of just about anything was left up to the DM. A DM was always free to call for a dice roll, and could set an arbitrary target number for success at any activity, but the rules also don't say they have to. To see if the characters persuade the barmaid to give them a hand, the players would have to be persuasive. To find the hidden clue in the cluttered chamber, the players might have to describe themselves looking in the right place.

In other words, there are relatively few rules for activities outside of combat, not because those activities were expected to be absent, but because they were expected to be unpredictable. How much exploration, and what players had to explore; what NPCs to interact with, and how they might react to being spoken to; what factions might exist, what moral quandaries could unfold, even the goal and big bad guy of the whole campaign -- the original sourcebooks for AD&D offer at best some very general advice, and NO hard and fast rules. That was for players and DMs to decide.

Many players and DMs, I know, fell on the side of engaging in relatively little worldbuilding complexity outside of the very mechanically-crunchy dungeon crawl. What little we see from the campaigns in ST is certainly mostly combat-oriented. And yet there are also hints of storylines happening off camera. Season 1's one-day eight-hour adventure was probably mostly dungeon crawl. Season 4's campaign takes most of a school year, until the players recognize the members of the cult they've been chasing for months, and know Vecna lore that would only have been published in one or two places anywhere by then, which means they probably learned it in-game. We don't see a lot of evidence of specific character plotlines -- in fact, repeatedly we're shown that the Party's characters share names with their players, making the whole thing even more clearly a big kids' game of let's-pretend. But that doesn't mean there's not a story.

So in short, the original game of D&D is built for epic quests, founded in very specific archetypes, but with the space for just about infinite in variation within that framework. That's what the Stranger Things kids are playing.

Now here’s a huge ass description for the kids™ if anyone is interested

Zap Apple

Rainbow and Applejack's first-born child and Lil' Cheese's best mate. Zap is a daydreamer and has a gentle soul, he's that one ripped nerd that likes writing and drawing things just for the sake of it. Exploring and discovering new things and places is what really makes his eyes glow (history and geography hoe), so he can be usually seen carrying his saddlebag around all the time (you never know when you're gonna need sketching and exploring supplies). Zap also loves puzzles and is a huge fanboy of Daring Do Books like Dash (and adventure books in general. AJ swears it's because Rainbow used to read so many Daring Doo adventures to her belly when she was pregnant). While he can be smart, he tends to over-thinks things, Zap has a wide imagination and is easily one of the most compassionate ponies around, though he used to be easily coaxed into fights or manipulated by his feelings. Like a good apple family member, the boy loves farm life and has a strong fraternal instinct, but his nature just doesn't allow him to settle there, though he still finds some peace whenever he's back in the environment he grew up in.

Random facts:

- Zap loved wearing his Ma's hat so much that she gave one for him as a gift in a Hearts Warming;

- He lost part of his his right ear to a bad fall when he and some friends went exploring one of his first off-limits area;

- Loves collecting comic books and stamps;

- AJ entered labor right during a Zap Apple harvest (Yep, that's exactly how he got his name);

- Inherited AJ's stare and lie detector;

- Upon noticing Zap's resemblance to his great grandmother, Rainbow nicknamed him Baby Smith.

Applejoy

Rainbow and Applejack's middle child. Applejoy doesn't take her name for granted, she's a total sunshine and bringing people happiness is what really makes her happy. She tends to be famous for getting a bunch of bruises all the time and being a little too reckless, so much so she lost two of her teeth out of pure clumsiness when she was little and had to wait until they began to grow to get them back (still has the best smile), and she also used to break her flying goggles at least once a week. The girl is also very outspoken and sincere, though it can end up being a problem sometimes. Applejoy is the family's Poly Athlete and has strong and fast wings (as well as legs, the girl is speed itself), she doesn't do very well in school but makes for it in sports and is very disciplined when it comes to it (Rainbow is her personal coach for every occasion). She hates losing, but tries her best to be a good sport and not to show she's upset most of the time. It was also awfully difficult for Applejack to handle her being all over the place when she learned how to use her wings (no need to say she was very grateful when her next child was born an earth pony).

Random facts: - Inherited Rainbow's habit of napping on trees (Applejack didn't like the idea, she was always concerned her children were gonna fall and hurt themselves for being too cloud-headed);

- Loves to indulge in her mother's sugary treats;- Rainbow started calling her junior (or AJJ) because her name abbreviation is the same as her ma's. No need to say the nickname was a success;

- Sleepwalker;

- The bandana she uses around her neck is a part of the fabric of an old sheet she used to nap with;

- Likes a bunch of crafts, specially wood-carving, but isn't really gifted at most of them (doesn't matter because she always tries her best every time).

Cider Splash

Rainbow and Applejack's youngest child and Tank's best buddy. Cider Splash a performer at heart, he's a innate dancer and plays multiple instruments very decently, he's the loudest of the bunch in every way and talks everyone's ears off (some conversations can also turn into musical numbers for no apparent reason). He's the most headstrong and stubborn out of the three, so he'll almost always get really deep into a project (or anything, really) when he sets his mind in it. He has blessed hoofs like AJ and is by far the one who ends up helping with the applebucking stuff the most, though he has a natural charm with the farm animals and prefers playing with them (his love for animal plushies wasn't taken for granted). He also indulges in cooking (mostly by Big Sugar's influence). Cider was always jealous of his sibling's ability to fly, so RD tries to compensate by taking him for a ride every once in a while and making sure he's the first one to get Wonderbolts tickets whenever they perform.

Random facts: - His love for music started when Applejack bought him a toy guitar to get him out of his tantrums when he was little. Later, his grandpa Bow Hothoof gave him a mini drum set as a birthday gift. AJ and RD weren't very happy when he started playing it all the time and making a bunch of noise, but they eventually saw potential in it and started investing in his inate talent;

- No need to say cider is his favorite drink ever;

- His bandana was a handmade gift from his Aunt Applebloom.

Florence

Fluttershy's big baby and Agate's older step-sister. Florence is a very resourceful and hard-working young mare, though she tends to spends way too much energy worrying about results and is almost constantly on the verge of outright panic (she's usually seen gritting her teeth or generally flipping out, no need to say she does not fare well under stress, specially when she is given a task to complete). Florence is known to be very sensible and intelligent, and even though she sometimes puts her own paranoia before common sense, she usually manages to find logical solutions to problems. She learned how to deal with stress by canalizing it into something productive, thanks to Rarimom (which ended up being another source of anxiety, ironically). She also has very strong beliefs, and when forced to question them, she becomes very upset. Despite that, Florence is extremely loyal and kind and will go out of her way to help other ponies.

Random facts: - Her scarf was given by Rarity, it made her feel safe when she was little, and she still uses it until this day (Her moms had to bribe with her in order to get her to let them clean and wash it after months of using it non-stop);

- Probably has OCD;

- She has also been known to retreat into her imagination when under extreme stress, often picturing peaceful, grassy fields or tranquil landscapes to calm herself down.

- Florence loves her coffee, tea and Fluttermum's pets more than her life (She loved growing up around pets, they still give her a sense of calm and relaxation. Her mom used to use them to calm her down when she was crying or couldn't sleep, she would almost always fall asleep after caressing some pet's ear for a while)

Agate

Rarity’s most precious gem and Florence’s little step-sister. Agate has been a very independent gal since she was little, she has been described as curious, monotone and sarcastic, and also appears to be more logical and mature than some of her peers, typically being the one to call them out on their ignorance, she’s inclined to remain passive and stoical to most things that happen around her. She has a fuckton control over her emotions and wears a neutral expression about 80% of the time, but is actually a pretty chill gal and has a very good (and weird) sense of humor. Agate has a great eye for photography (specially Avant-garde stuff) and turns out working as a professional photographer in the future.

Random facts: - Lowkey a huge mystery fan and computer nerd;

- Has a huge soft spot for Fluttermom's pets since she first came in contact with one, she can’t help but to smile the whole time she’s around them;

- Discord's favorite gal right next to Fluttershy.

Lil' Cheese

So let's get this out of the way, the script says Lil' Cheese is a colt, but many people see them as a filly, so they ended up being non-binary in my headcanon because I couldn't decide their gender (but go with whatever suits you better).

"Don't worry, Zap and Cheese got another infallible plan". Cheesecake, AKA "Lil' Cheese", is first and foremost known for the ability to talk their ass off anytime of the day for whatever reason (they used to spend most of their time besides their mom, so no need to mention that they practically picked up all her goofiness and energy by osmosis), they're also an excellent actor and are known as "The God of Puns". They’re generally a popular and gifted student, however, they're foul-mouthed and kind of competitive (but despite that, they are generally well liked and always looking after their friends). Lil' Cheese uses their innate talent for comedy and natural charm and charisma to help attract attention to their mum's bakery. Cheese had pretty deep random conversations with Pinkie since very little, so they turned out to be a pretty good conversationalist and improviser.

Big Sugar/Little Mac

I don't really have a very elaborate description for him (sorry peeps), but I imagine Sugar as a very sweet (pun intended) Big Baker Boy that loves cooking (and eating, most of all). He has that big bro energy and always gives the best hugs, but can also have with no mercy when messing around with his peers. He's very well liked around Ponyville and known for his extroverted and warm nature, though he may care way to much about other's opinions and tends to take a lot of them personally. Being a proud member of the Apple Family, he's the embodiment hard-work and loves working on the farm, but his heart always feel in the right place whenever he's preparing meals for other ponies.

Okay, so quick backstory time about how Flarity happened in this canon.

Fluttershy was going through a very rough time with her previous marefriend, she always wanted to have a child of her own, and seeing her friends having some of their own made her even more eager to have one, so she found a sperm donor and conceived Florence with the consent of her partner at the time. Their relationship didn't get any less toxic even after Florence was born, so as a good friend, Discord felt the obligation to intervene (along with the rest of the elements of harmony) and convince Fluttershy to just end it and let go, as it wasn't doing any good for both her and the kid. When she finally got out of it, Discord and Rarity were the ones who helped Flutters to heal the most.

Meanwhile, Agate was the product of Rarity's previous marriage with Fancy Pants and was conceived as the last hope for their doomed marriage. Turns out having a child didn't save their relationship and they ended up divorcing, both going their separate ways with their own lives and businesses, however, it was a healthy separation and they remained in good terms with each other. Rarity took this separation as a way to get to know more about herself and to spend more time bonding with her daughter, having a break from her business life and letting Sassy Saddles and some other employees take the wheel for a little while, though she didn't stop playing her part on the creative side. During the time Fluttershy was going through her healing process, she and Rarity reconnected and some gay stuff happened. By the time the series ended they were probably on the dating phase and close to engagement. They eventually marry and join their families together.

Also Discord's still a very close friend of the couple and helps them and the kids whenever and in whatever way he's able to. He loves spending time with the kids, specially Agate, who finds his chaotic energy specially amusing.

What happened in the timeline where the Flim Flam bros got Sweet Apple Acres?

AppleJack commits a Felony probably hehe!

Oh Speaking of Flim and Flam did you know they got their own shop in ponyville recently?!

They sell stuff like pretty crystals and incense, and essential oils, and weird pipes and funny smelling herbs, and something called a vape???? I went there once to welcome them to town and congradulate them on adopting their very first pet in ponyville and while I was there they showed me this chunky looking pen thing called a vape and were telling me allll about it when Rarity and AppleJack called me from across the town center.

I trotted over to Rarity while AppleJack seemed to want to talk to Flim and Flam. So I started telling Rarity about the cool little vape thing and how it had a COTTON CANDY flavor! Like how cool is that right?! But Rarity made this funny smile that she makes sometimes and told me that it's not good and that I shouldnt use anything as "ghastly" as a vape pen. I didnt really get why but Rarity is really smart and knows all about new trends and stuff so I trust her.

That's when AppleJack comes back from talking to Flim and Flam and tells me I shouldnt go by their "no good hippy shop no more." And I told her I wouldn't cause I saw the price that they were selling those pretty crystals for and knew thats as pretty as they were they weren't worth HALF that price, and I grew up on a rock farm, so I know what I'm talking about.

I still wave to them every time I see them out though! I know with the first.... couple of impressions they made on the town it would be hard for them to get settled in but I really feel like they're getting along! Yeah they miiiight have tried to swindle everypony a couple times but i thing they've turned a new leaf!

Like what no good rascles adopt a poor little kitty?! Not any I know, no siree!

I keep freaking out because I haven’t picked things that interest me because there is a pall of despair over the list.

Everything is either “the mere concept of this bores me to tears (and I am therefore a bad person)“ or “this is a trivial nothing-action“ or “nice try mom“ or “it is Wrong to do this“ or “it is Wrong for me specifically to do this“ or “I am sick of this tiresome passive-aggressive song and dance please just get it over with already and call me an unlovable incel cuck virgin or whatever“ or “I have not earned this“ or “bros do this and bros must be destroyed” or “i already do this and it doesn’t help” or “i already do this and it doesn’t count“ or “there is a pandemic dumbass“ or “only my parents are available and I Do Not Wish To Interact Unnecessarily“

Everything nontrivial is commitment and I am not comfortable committing to anything nonessential more than 10 seconds into the future because worldstate can change in that time and render the thing committed to unreasonable

like for instance one of the things on the list I said I would consider was playing chess, because I know how to play chess and find it semi-enjoyable

but it’s a casual thing to do with someone I already know and that’s impermissible because I have to commit to Do It and what if the people i know are busy? I don’t want to play with strangers because there’s a culture of having to be competitive and always get better and quit if you peak and if not you’re wasting everyone else’s time and that’s a lot of frontloaded effort just to participate. there is no experimentation, i literally do not have enough energy for entry level anything.

then there is stuff that requires materials and a thing that always always always always always happened in the past was i would be really excited for something and then really bored as soon as there was the opportunity to do it. ALWAYS. Science experiment kits and the like. there is so much infrastructure around everything and i never ever have enough energy because i wake up tired and i immediately get bored when i try something because it is boring because it is in the universe and the universe is boring

the thing is yes i do need something to do to not go mad, but the concern this is meant to address was like, My Hobbies Are Bad And Used As Insults and the idea that i have to look at this list and find things i would be interested in doing it’s validating that impulse of You Must Obtain Different Interest

and no matter how much therapist lady says “no it’s just would you be willing to do it, you aren’t actually committing to doing it“ it’s nah nice try you’re very obviously setting a trap, there is some fine print i can’t see, there always is whenever someone says something isn’t a commitment, you’re going to threaten to have me institutionalized if i don’t join a chess club or something

I have been teaching myself c++ over the past 8 months or so (I am a slow learner, and stupid), it’s not like i can’t do things, it’s that i can’t do things that are not cringe and there are large contingents of people blocking the entrances to places that claim not to be hostile to my existence as antibeef that talk very loudly about how people who do cringe things deserve suffering.

i have said the above (not the c++ thing, i don’t want to mention that because [redacted], but the idea of being able to do things but the things are not seen as real) in very plain language to therapist lady at least three times already and somehow the words get converted to “I have an intrinsic motivation to get new hobbies in spite of resisting looking at the list and feeling shamed by the existence of this list of things you would happily do if you weren’t an uncultured indoorsy loser“ and it is throwing into question my ability to communicate with words at all

like, how the fuck do you go from “everything that isn’t pathetic bores me on a deep level, like there is the opposite of a spark there, i would rather sit and stare at a wall than learn a musical instrument or whatever so i am just immutably pathetic so it is wrong for me to do things“ to “here is a list of things you aren’t interested in just so you can see that there are three hundred plus entire things that are valid to like and you like none of them!”

like there is some kind of failure of communication here and i don’t know what noises i am supposed to make to produce the intended meaning in her brain
