Brian Auger's Oblivion Express – Light on the Path
Digital Crate Digging Continues per this HumpDay Extravaganza as we come through on a Wednesday afternoon, excuse us as we go through these mood swings… Afternoon Jazzing and O-Dog Day Partying, still trying to get our minds right just chilling, ignoring the drama that a fool brings.. …or what a fool believes; it can be the Doobie Brothers or the M People version.. ..or what a fool achieves?…

Mid-1970s. The main act at the Adelbert Gym at Case Western Reserve University was supposed to be Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express. The two opening acts were Oregon and Weather Report. Oregon was my first encounter with what would later be called world music. I had Weather Report’s first album. It was an acoustic album but unbeknownst to me they had gone electric. Big surprise. Some (all?) of the set appeared on the live part of their I Sing the Body Electric album. Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, with Miroslav Vitous on bass. Brian Auger was late. We got tired of waiting and left. Oregon and Weather Report had been worth the price of admission.
Wayne Shorter, icon of jazz saxophone, dies aged 89 ... :(

POST-POST-SCRIPTUM 1062
21 - QUE POURRAIT BIEN RACONTER CE PROJET ?
Et s’il s’agissait d’un livre abordant les rapports entre jazz et rock (et vice-versa) d’une manière enfin inédite ?
