Do you know any podcasts with transfeminine main characters?
Apologies for the delay. I have a few:
Between Heartbeats: (Urban Fantasy) In a city of incredible abilities and mundane struggle, we follow Sundiata, a time-manipulator struggling to stay employed. During a a quick break from waiting tables to go help in an emergency, she instead finds herself caught in a bizzare mystery. Unfortunately release seems to have stalled following the first episode, but I'm eagerly awaiting its return.
Inn Between: (Fantasy, Adventure) What the adventuring heroes get up to at the tavern, between the grand adventures. Cleverly fills the listener in on the adventures using "previously on" and "next time on" segments. You'll need to wait (or jump) to Season 3 to meet our transfem lead, but she is an absolute delight.
Interference: (Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romance) A human tabletop podcaster and an orc researcher get their broadcast signals crossed between worlds, and start a dialogue. Cross-reality research, and a budding romance, ensue.
The Magnus Protocol: (Horror) Seeking employment, Sam gets a job working with his friend Alice for a bizzare little government office. The work? Night shifts listening to, and then cataloguing, bizzare and unsettling material trawled from the internet. Despite Alice's warnings, Sam may be getting a little too invested.
The Night Post: (Supernatural) Concerning the conscripted nighttime couriers/postal workers of Gilt City, and the otherworldy encounters they have on the job.
PSST: Paranatural Support Services Team: (Supernatural) Struggling with a supernatural entity or haunting encounter? The PSST's got you covered. Meet The Agent at the other end of the phone as she gives advice, unravels mysteries, and tries to work out just how long it's been since she went home.
The Silt Verses: (Horror) In a modern world where gods are abundant, frequently both commercialised and restricted, two devotees of an outlawed river god go on a pilgrimage. You'll meet the character in question a few episodes in.
Breathing Space: (Sci-fi, Space Western, Anthology) Included more as a special mention (as this is an anthology and the leads change every episode), Breathing Space is an array of stories set in the early age of space exploration that leans hard into the "Western" part of "Space Western". A not-insignificant number of the stories feature trans characters. If you don't vibe with the first story, do me a favour and listen to the second before you bail.
Additions are, of course, always welcome.

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! I was busy doing many things this week, but luckily they were the kind of things that facilitate a lot of audio drama listening. Shall we?
👹 G.O.B.L.I.N.S. is amazing. I love an office sitcom in any case, but an office sitcom with two goblins, an elf prince, and an overly enthusiastic government pencil pusher is an inspired idea. I really want this show to exist more, so if you can, consider helping them on their crowdfund!
💋 Josie’s Lonely Hearts Club this week was HILARIOUS. The presidential puns were so delightful, and I also ended the episode wanting to fight a veterinarian. Can’t wait to see where this season is going.
🌚 @hellofromthehallowoods is always so good at creating these gorgeous soft character moments, and I adore middle-aged Buck. Watching this man gracefully age into a husband and father who likes himself, who knows he is loved, is such a far cry from the poor little guy he used to be. I really don’t want him to get eaten by a vampire. Are you hearing me, Mx Wellman?
📻 Breaker Whiskey ended for now and ohhhhhhh. Oh man. I cried. The experience of listening to this story feels very early audio drama, and that’s definitely by design. Lauren Shippen let the story wander and discover itself, and we got to discover it too. Was it a flawless story? No story is, but getting to revel in the wandering just made it better. Whatever’s next for the story, I have enjoyed the ride.
🥛 The Silt Verses. That’s it. I found this episode entrancing. How’s this going to end?
🥃 Breathing Space this week was hilarious. In a rare voice acting appearance by Pacific Obadiah and some familiar voices from Melissa Lusk and Katrina Pecina as well as the ol' Breathing Space standbys, this heartfelt, witty, and above all very silly episode felt really good. I just loved it.
🐟 In Travelling Light this week, VERMI'S BACK. My favorite guy! And it seems we won't be seeing the last of this guy, either. Thank you Hero for my life. Friendship is gonna solve all the traveller's problems and I couldn't be happier.
🧟‍♀️ In Hannah News, The Dead started a new series called Turas that I really think you should check out. It’s set on a Scottish isle with Scottish Gaelic, and zombies, and sister dynamics, and it’s so good guys. Our main actors, Michelle Kelly and Bonnie Calderwood Aspinwall, are absolutely killing it, alongside an amazing cast. Please tune in, you won't regret it.
🧛🏻‍♀️ Also this week, I got the chance to hop on Re: Dracula's July Q&A for our patrons! You gotta check out our patreon, y'all, creating gothic fiction has been so much fun. We're hard at work on Carmilla while Re: Drac is having its second go-round. Join usssssss.
That's all for me this week! It's long enough as it is. See you next week!

Breathing Space hits 100,000
Tumblr media
When we started this project three years ago, it would never have occurred to us that we'd be dealing with any number with this many digits.
But since we're here, let's talk about the numbers.
As of right now, we've released 49 mainline episodes and 17 bonus content episodes. That's nearly two solid days of audio total. There's still 10 more to be released.
For what it takes to make this show: We've had at least 16 different writers and 6 audio editors and -- this is the bonkers one -- 134 individual people have voiced characters in this show. (Of course, several people are in multiple columns in there).
It has been an absolute honor and a joy to work with all of these amazing people to bring this project to life and we hope you'll continue to listen through the rest of the show.

Brilliant move by Breathing Space to cast the Woe.Begone guy as a singer in their ongoing music series. He puts his mixtapes in his sci fi thriller podcast every so often as it is.

✨Episode 15 - Decision Episode!✨
Tumblr media
A mistake aboard the Tola leads to some unexpected visitors; and a description of a species with a knack for imitation...
Subscribe now Spotify, Apple Podcasts or your podcatcher of choice 🚀✨ Full transcript available here.
Travelling Light is a science fantasy podcast that follows the Traveller as they explore their galaxy, collecting stories from the people they meet and adding them to their community archives.
Every week our artist Matt McDyre illustrates the episode’s archive entry. This week's entry was based on my own idea, and I just love Matt's interpretation of these little guys!
If you’ve got an idea for an archive entry, you can send them to us via social media, by email, or through monstrousproductions.org. You can either send a fully written entry or a prompt - whatever you've got, we want to hear it!
This episode includes an audience decision. Vote on whether the Traveller should talk to Duytren or Hesje about the Tola's cargo by making a donation at ko-fi.com/monstrousproductions. Voting closes at 12.00PM UK time on Tuesday 19th.
Everyone who supports us through Ko-Fi will receive an invitation to the Monstrous Productions Discord server as well as bonus art-work and annotated scripts. And if you join at our Gold tier, you get the chance to have a personalised alien designed for you by Matt himself! 👽💫
Stay tuned to the end of this episode to hear a trailer for @breathingxspace, a science fiction Western anthology audio drama from @lawofnamesmedia. It's a fabulous show full of adventure, community, and space cowboys! 🤠🚀 Listen wherever you get your podcasts, or visit their website to learn more!
As a reminder, Travelling Light is completely dependent on word of mouth to get new listeners. If you're enjoying the show, please consider sharing it with your friends, posting on social media, or leaving a review. It all helps!
🚀✨ See you next Friday! ✨🚀

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! It was podcast girls week and i loved seeing everyone’s art and fic and memes. Gorls. ❤️ Let’s get to the shows!
🎤 Childish! Childish: The Podcast Musical finally got the chance to post their finale! And it did not disappoint. I had forgotten exactly how good the music was in this show, and how funny and clever it was. Guys, if you care about college comedies with a side of the best dang music I've heard out of a podcast, please listen to Childish. I'm so happy for them. This is really proof though, that it's worth it not to give up on a podcast (I'll wait for you forever Althaar).
🥩 Oh man, this episode of Mayfair Watcher's Society was incredible. The story would be good even without the incredible performances of Ashlee Jones and Brandon Nguyen, but CAN we talk about them actors??? What an incredible exploration of your worst nightmares coming true. Mind the content warnings for this one, folks. Meg Tuten is, as always, a genius.
🦾 Breathing Space consistently hits notes of working class struggle and desperation with care and thoughtfulness, but this past episode's rendition of "Sixteen Tons" was absolutely gorgeous. I loved the lo-fi singing together. It was perfect.
🐟 @monstrousproductions’ Travelling Light has once again introduced me to an absolutely delightful character. Vermi is my favorite guy. I love him and his fish face and his translation innovation. This show is a constant gift.
🤖 Ohhhhh man, oh man, Ask Your Father ended in the only possible way it could, which I should have seen coming. Oh my gosh. Mikeyyyyyyyy...I won't spoil it, but it was maybe perfect. I cried a little. Season two when.
🌊 I started Waterlogged this week! What a good anthology—it’s creepy AND wet! I think some horror anthologies suffer from a lack of theme that can make them fall into a rhythm, but I don’t foresee this being a problem for Waterlogged. The first three episodes are all so different, and I love it. Go check it out!
🪱 I want to give a shoutout to Earworm! Earworm is an upcoming musical about ghosts and haunting by the folks behind Shadows At the Door! I know a lot of the cast (David Ault, Michelle Kelly, Erika Sanderson, and so many others) and I'm so thrilled to hear this--assuming they can finish out their crowdfund! If you can throw them a little cash, please do!
That’s all for now! 😘

I’m not sure if this phrase has been coined before, but I really enjoy it.
I found out this morning that (after having to plead my case and present on why it’s relevant to me) I was accepted into a course at Harvard called “Queering the World: Dismantling Heteronormativity in Congregations, Communities, and Organizations” and it’s been life-changing. - Bradley Talbot
[Accessibility Text]
A series of slides that read:
“This is a Breathing Space
This is NOT a “Safe Space”
I try to avoid using the phrase “Safe Space” because I used to think church was safe, until it wasn’t. I used to think my relationships were safe, until they weren’t. I used to think school was safe, until it wasn’t. And even when I’ve found myself most comfortable, I would soon discover how quickly safety can be jeopardized.
And now I understand more why this phrase doesn’t resonate with me. “Safe” implies a destination, a fixed point that requires no need for improvement or challenge or growth.
The reality for many marginalized people is that safety is never fully realized.
Therefore, the pursuit of inclusion must have no destination. Because prejudice and evil are ever evolving, the process of inclusion must continuously progress as well.
I prefer the imagery of “Breathing Space” because breathing is in the moment, active, and life-giving. There may be tension but it is ongoing. It’s flexible. It allows room for all emotion to be expressed. And then it moves on to the next moment.
While this space may strive for safety, I can’t promise that. Though I try not to, I will make mistakes, offend, perpetuate systems of oppression, and wrongly harm others.
What I can promise is to be present. To be alive. To be here, sitting with you. Listening to you.
Breathing with you.“

Elegy for Amity (Fable of the Family Theme)
youtube
This season, instead of doing a few disparate episodes, I put my whole ass into making a single three and a half hour story that spans a hundred years. It's called Fable of the Family and i'll be hitting the feed in late May. And it gets its own theme song, Elegy for Amity, to the tune of an old swedish folk song, with lyrics by me, vocals by one of my amazing actors, Lindsay Zana, and an arrangement by Amy Young. Should be on all the streaming sites at the end of the week.
