for the music ask thing: 5, 9, 11, n 28!!! :D
thanks for sending me these, i was hoping to answer a lot of the music ask questions!! 😁 also topic but i’ve noticed that you often like and support the stuff i draw/write and i appreciate that so much! ❤️ anyways here are my answers! hopefully you’re prepared for a lot of rambling on my part shfksksjc
5. “just like a pill” by p!nk always makes me wanna turn up the volume and sing loudly. now i’m thinking about songs that i wanna turn up loud to sing to versus to dance to…like i wanna sing loudly to “he wasn’t man enough for me” by toni braxton, “beautiful liar” by beyonce and shakira, and “i will survive” by gloria gaynor and i wanna dance to “gimme more” by britney spears, “bootylicious” by destiny’s child, “single ladies (put a ring on it)” by beyonce, and “spice up your life” or “wannabe” by the spice girls lol. oh man and “u can’t touch this” by mc hammer, “it’s tricky” by run dmc, and “hey ya” by outkast are songs i would want to sing AND dance to
9. “thank you for the music” and “honey honey” by abba both make me happy. “the great escape” by boys like girls also is nostalgic and makes me happy whenever i hear it
11. “dreamgirl” by dave matthews band. my parents met at a dave matthews band concert so i’ve grown up listening to a lot of their songs and they’re nostalgic to me, and this one is one of my favorites. “free fallin” by tom petty is another one that’s nostalgic for me and it moves me every time i listen to it. the lyrics “i wanna write her name in the sky/i’m gonna free fall out into nothin'/gonna leave this world for a while” just gets me in the feels for some reason idk
28. ohhh man there’s so many artists whose voice i love so there’s no way i can pick just one lol…i love whitney houston, celine dion, beyonce, mariah carey, ariana grande, adele, lady gaga, adele dazeem  idina menzel, and selena, to name a few. for the songs…again, i can’t pick just one but i love “i will always love you” by whitney houston, “it’s all coming back to me now” by celine dion, “listen” and “i care” by beyoncé, “honeymoon avenue” by ariana grande, and “defying gravity” by idina menzel. omg also “macarthur park” by donna summer and “lovin you” by minnie riperton. and lauryn hill’s voice in “killing me softly with his song” (by fugees)
so yeah i'm very normal about music shgksjfkls

idk how to even look at my "profile" anymore
I lied when i said i would post more art here. I didnt really, and i havent, really. I still do prints, I still do music. I sometimes do videos. I post on instagram to the two people who love me and see them in person first. https://www.instagram.com/d722220
instead i will throw 200 words you.
I have decided to listen thru all of Prince's discography. I've fallen in love with every single one so far (For You, Prince, Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999, Purple Rain, Around the World in a Day) EXCEPT for Parade. still revisiting but its not grabbing like the others did. I did not like Dirty Mind at first. I also didnt care for Around the World in a Day, but both i have come full circle on. Particularly ATWIAD. I am now in love with them and Do Me, Baby is a perfect song. It's funny to think (and read) that people weren't crazy at ATWIAD when it came out and last 3 songs are an incredible run (Pop Life, The Ladder, Temptation). It is also over started how Purple Rain is a 10/10 perfect album but let me be the 249,406 person to tell you that it's a perfect album. I was moved to tears on the first listen. Very few albums have done that (Kate Bush Hounds of Love being an example duh). Decided to take on this task on a whim and I'm so in love.
I had also decided to revisit and continue listening through Alan Vega's discography. Once again, 10 years ago when i first heard Just a Million Dreams i HATED IT. a lot. its so vastly different from anything Suicide related, and though you could say the same for the first few Vega solo albums, something about JAMD irked me. I even liked Saturn Drive more. I revisited it last week and only days later drove to the record shop to buy it, I NEEDED IT. it's really fucked up he could start as protopunk protoindustrial w Suicide then do rockabilly (S/T - collision Drive) dance pop and dance rock, then go totally avant garde(?) once you hit Deuce Avenue. it's still dance oriented but not in the same way Saturn Drive and JAMD are.
I cannot lie I love dance music. I also picked up Sheila E. " The Glamourous Life" and Nik Kershaw "Human Racing". I love dance music. The last haul was Toni Braxton first album (s/t ?) and The Time s/t.
Other than that I've slowly been working my way through Dean Blunt discography. (pattern?) I made it through Jill Scott Herring OST and Narcissist II but once I hit The Redeemer something in me knew I liked it but I couldnt articulate why. Still kinda can't tbh. after the 3rd listen it finally clicked and I "got it". The only thing I didn't care for up to this point is the last song Gass on Babyfather. I've only made it up to Walhalla. I'd always seen BLACK METAL be a topic of discussion any time his name is brought up but The Redeemer is the one I come back to the most. time will tell.
The funny thing is i live alone and have been for almost a year now and normally I would come home and throw 1000 words at my then roommate about what I'd been listening to and what I thought. Now that I can't do that maybe I'll bring it here. maybe I won't. maybe I'll delete this out of some sort of weird humility and temporary attempt at pretending to be elusive ?
I keep track of full albums I listen to on a monthly basis a la Topsters so maybe I'll start posting them here. Nobody will see this and I feel like posting them to twitter is a little to revealing. I've been kinda showing my ass lately.
how many words was that ?

Twitter’s Mass Layoffs Spark Outrage
By Anika Ponni, Rutgers University–New Brunswick Class of 2026
November 8, 2022
Tumblr media
As of October 27th, 2022, after months of uncertainty, Elon Musk officially owns Twitter. Although the title “Twitter CEO” is a relatively new one for Musk, his time at Twitter has already been marred by the firings of high-profile executives, staff members, and employees.
In an email sent to Twitter employees, Musk notified his staff that in order “to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce.” The new CEO aimed to cut costs by eliminating 50% of Twitter’s workforce [1]. Prior to the mass layoffs, top executives, including former CEO Parag Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal and policy chief Vijaya Gadde had already been removed from their positions [2].
The email also clarified that employees will receive an email to their work accounts if they are being retained and those being laid off will receive an email to their personal accounts with instructions on how to leave the Twitter ecosystem.
The crude manner of the layoffs has been denounced by critics all across the country. Journalist Will Oremus called it “a fun game where you get to find out if you're laid off or not…based on whether the email pops up in your Twitter account or personal account” [1].
Understandably, Twitter’s sudden reduction of its workforce has left former employees furious.
For this reason, a class action lawsuit was filed against Twitter in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco where Twitter is headquartered. In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs are listed as five current or former employees and the defense is listed as Twitter.
The lawsuit was filed on the basis that Twitter violated the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) with the sudden layoffs. This Federal law requires that employees are provided at least 60 days notice when their employment has been terminated. However, in Twitter’s case, most laid off workers were notified the day of that it was their last day working for the company. The lawsuit also aims to prevent the company from pressuring laid off workers to sign paperwork to surrender their rights to participate in litigation [3].
Shannon Liss-Riordan, the attorney representing the plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit against Twitter, stated that “We filed this lawsuit…in an attempt to make sure that employees are aware that they should not sign away their rights and that they have an avenue for pursuing their rights.”
Liss-Riordan is no stranger to wrongful termination, especially in cases involving Elon Musk. This past June, the renowned labor attorney also represented former employees of Tesla Inc. after Elon Musk abruptly laid off about 10% of its workforce [4].
Additionally, Tesla and Twitter are not the only companies to face scrutiny and lawsuits for failing to adhere to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN).  American rental car company Hertz, as well as restaurant chain Hooters, were all hit with class action lawsuits during the pandemic when they were forced to lay off a large percentage of their workforce without the proper notification period [5].
In protest against the mass layoffs, lack of ethics, and absence of moral responsibility from Elon Musk, numerous celebrities have already exited the platform. To name a few: Sara Bareilles, Toni Braxton, Téa Leoni, and Shonda Rhimes have all expressed their intentions to leave Twitter following the hostile environment Musk has created and the policies he has implemented [6].

It was supposed to be a simple task: ensure Braxton was clean.
But as anything with Braxton, simple was far from the word he’d describe the current set of tasks he faced. Quite a few colorful Terran swears came to mind in particularly as the former-Galvan dove for small child.
Slamming into the tile, he grit his teeth in irritation.
“Braxton stop this this instant.” Pushing himself up, he scanned the bathroom for the boy. “You WILL be clean by the end of this evening.”
“No bath if ya can’t catch me!” Braxton taunted. The voice seemed to be coming from- above? Glancing upwards, scarlet eyes widened as he saw the child in question holding himself within the sky light.
His heart stopped as his unfortunately creative brain imagined several ways of Braxton falling- ranging from broken bones to necks and-
A thrill of fear ran through Albedo, while the small part of his human brain how Braxton had gotten up there in the first place
“First Thinker- get DOWN from there! Do you realize how horribly fragile you are?” Stepping up on the toilet, he extended a leg to the bathroom counter and further raised himself up. He was still out of reach as Braxton smirked.
“If you insist.” And with that proclamation of doom, he released his grip on the walls and promptly dropped.
With a shrill scream worthy of Tennyson’s younger years, Albedo’s body couldn’t decide which way to go as it fumbled in every direction in a primal effort to catch. Sneaker slipping, he fell into the bubble bath with the grace of a drunken appoplexian.
Despite the mighty splash that now flooded the bathroom, Braxton was perfectly dry, leaning his head in his palm.
“How’s the water?” He asked smugly as Albedo straightened, sending him a small scowl.
“At this point luke warm- not unlike your attempts at humor.”
Getting Braxton to trust him was easy in comparison to getting him to bathe. Bath times were tricky on the best of days, what with Braxton still not fully convinced the water isn’t going to hurt him.
Albedo isn’t pleased to be dunked in fully dressed, though his ward was quick to go in after he’d gotten out.
This isn’t Albedo’s typical outfit- he was going more casual because Braxton is notorious at this point for being a pain to clean.

The Murder of The Notorious B.I.G.
Tumblr media
May 29, 2021
Christopher Wallace, also known as “the Notorious B.I.G.” and “Biggie Smalls” was known for being one of the most famous hip hop artists of the 1990′s, along with Tupac Shakur. Like Tupac, Biggie was shot and killed in a drive by shooting on March 9, 1997 at the age of 24. Many believe the similarities between these two artists deaths are more than a coincidence.
Biggie Smalls arrived in Los Angeles, California in February 1997 to promote his second album, weirdly enough titled, “Life After Death” which was scheduled to be released on March 25. He was also there to shoot the music video for his hit single, “Hypnotize.” On March 5, 4 days before Biggie was killed he did an interview where he stated he hired security because he feared for his safety.
He claimed he feared for his own safety after the murder of Tupac, 6 months earlier, and the fact that he was a high profile celebrity.
On March 7, Biggie presented an award to Toni Braxton at the 1997 Soul Train Music Awards and was booed by some of the audience. On March 8, he was at an after party hosted by Vibe magazine and Qwest Records at the Petersen Automotive Museum. Also in attendance were members of the Bloods and Crips gangs, who were rivals and who many believe were responsible for why Tupac died.
On March 9, at 12:30 am Biggie got in a Chevrolet Suburban to go to his hotel after the party he was at shut down early due to overcrowding. Biggie was sitting in the front passenger seat and was with Damion “D-Roc” Young,  Lil’ Cease and driver Gregory “G-Money” Young. In another Chevrolet Suburban sat P. Diddy and three bodyguards.
By 12:45 am Biggie’s vehicle stopped at a red light on the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and South Fairfax Avenue. A dark 1994-1996 Chevrolet Impala SS pulled up alongside Biggie’s SUV. The driver of the vehicle was a black man and he rolled down his window and shot Biggie 4 times with a 9 mm blue-steel pistol. Biggie’s entourage immediately got him to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he received emergency surgery, however 30 minutes after the shooting at 1:15 am, Biggie Smalls was pronounced dead.
Biggie’s autopsy report wasn’t released until 15 year after his death, in December 2012. Out of the 4 shots, only 1 was fatal, the last one which entered through his right hip and striked several vital organs such as his colon, liver, heart and left lung.
In 2006 Biggie Smalls mother, Voletta Wallace, Biggie’s widow, Faith Evans, and his children T’yanna Jackson and Christopher Jordan “CJ” Wallace, filed a $400 million wrongful death lawsuit against the LAPD claiming that corrupt officers were the reason for Biggie’s death. A retired LAPD officer named Greg Kading believed that Suge Knight had planned the murder of Biggie, as revenge for Tupac’s death.
Many believe Biggie and Tupac’s murders are connected, due to the similar nature in both drive-by’s and the on going gang feuds. Many believed that Biggie had something to do with Tupac’s murder, though there’s never been any evidence to prove it.
A retired LAPD detective Russell Poole believed that Suge Knight and LAPD officer David Mack planned to have Biggie Smalls killed and came up with a scheme to blame it on rap rivalry. Apparently David Mack had an associate named Amir Muhammed, who was the hitman hired to kill Biggie. This evidence came from an informant named Psycho Mike and the composite sketch generated during the investigation was similar to Amir Muhammed.
P. Diddy apparently wasn’t very complaint with the police during the investigation and neither was anyone else involved in Bad Boy Records.
The Los Angeles Times would print conflicting theories about the murder, even printing Amir Muhammed’s photo, name and driver’s license. Apparently Amir Muhammed was a mortgage broker who had zero connection to Biggie’s death. Amir Muhammed cleared his name and was not even an official suspect when his photo was printed.
Some believe Biggie and Tupac’s murders were planned as part of the East Coast West Coast gangs way of making money, as the rappers were worth more dead selling records than alive.
Biggie’s case was re-opened in July 2006. On April 17, 2007, Biggie’s relatives filed a second wrongful death lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles. The suit was eventually dismissed in 2010.
No one has ever been convicted for the murder of Biggie Smalls. Many hip hop artists mourned Biggie’s death, with rapper Nas even saying that Biggie and Tupac’s deaths were “nearly the end of rap.”

Captain’s log, stardate 202005.24... 30/365 For Real’s ‘Love Will Be Waiting At Home’, written and produced by Babyface, from the Waiting To Exhale soundtrack, is still one of my favorite songs to go to when I listen to his work. I remember when my older brother unexpectedly brought home the soundtrack one night, and the three of us, including my twin, listened to the CD in his room from beginning to end. I could not tell you what I felt at that specific time because I really don’t remember what went on at that time, but I know that I instantly gravitated to this song immediately upon listening. The introduction of ‘Love Will Be Waiting At Home’ is a peculiar one as Babyface has never had a song in his career with an introduction lasting over a minute long, However, he often employed the two introduction device in his songs going back to his days with L.A. Reid to his current work included, but not limited to After 7′s ‘Ready Or Not’, Bobby Brown’s ‘Rock WItcha’, Johnny Gill’s ‘My, My, My’, Toni Braxton’s ‘Let It Flow’ (also on the Waiting To Exhale soundtrack) and Ariana Grande’s ‘Hollywood Avenue’.
While For Real is a decent female group, they were relatively an unknown R&B group with very modest charted songs.  I often wondered why they were chosen as Karyn White, in my opinion, would have been a better choice to sing the song as they have much of Ms. White’s reflection down to a tee, but they still did a great job. Maybe Ms. White wasn’t available or she put her musical career aside by that point in her life.

My ‘sweetest’ Favorite 2019
Tumblr media
*アルファベット順です *今年リリース以外のものも多くあります *Vanessa Paradis、Marlene Dietrichは常時アイコンなのではぶきます * - My ‘sweetest’ Favorite 2019 - ▽▼▽ ALBUM / LP / EP ▽▼▽ AFK & Bludwork / Loyalty N Service [100% Silk] Akira Rabelais / CXVI [Boomkat Editions] Alexis Le-Tan & Jess present / Space Oddities [Permanent Vacation] Amazondotcom / Mirror River [SUBREAL] Ambien Baby / En Transito [FATi Records] Ana Roxanne / ~~~ [Leaving Records] Anna Homler ‎/ Deliquium In C [Präsens Editionen] Archie Shepp, Jasper Van't Hof ‎/ Mama Rose [SteepleChase] Bartosz Kruczynski, Poly Chain / Pulses [Into The Light Records] Basil Kirchin / I Start Counting [Trunk Records] Basil Kirchin / Primitive London [Trunk Records] Black Boboi / Agate [BINDIVIDUAL] C.Tappin / Ashes to Ashes [Melting Pot Music] Charlie Haden & Pat Metheny / Beyond The Missouri Sky [Verve Records] Chihei Hatakeyama(畠山地平) / Void XIX [White Paddy Mountain] Chocolate Lips / Chocolate Lips [Sony Music] Derric Gobourne Jr. / Supremacy [P-Vine Records] Deweekend / Deweekend [OutOfStock] Dome / Dome 2 [Editions Mego] Eberhard Weber / Encore [ECM Records] Eleventeen Eston / Delta Horizon [Growing Bin Records] Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou / Ethiopiques, Vol. 21 [Buda Musique] Eric Serra ‎/ Le Grand Bleu (Bande Originale Du Film) [Virgin] G.S. Girl Meets World
Greta Gerwig on insecurity, marriage, and 'Lola Versus'.
I started lying about my age when I was 7. It was first grade, and I had turned 7 in August. Having an August birthday meant that I would either be the oldest kid in the class or the youngest. My mom explained that she and my dad had been the youngest and they hated it, so of course I was just going to love the opposite. I think a lot of parenting goes something like that.
Lola Versus is not about an overly self-conscious 7-year-old. But it is about getting older, about passing the landmark age of 30 and feeling that you are not where you should be. By 30, Lola wants to be a wife cooking dinner with farmer's-market vegetables and giving her less-married friends advice. And then of course her fiance breaks up with her, destroying that fantasy future. This sets off her year of mistakes, misbehavior, and misadventures. All "mis" and no "Mrs."
I don't consciously share the same dream of being married by 30 that Lola does, but on some deep level, I totally get it. As a child, when my mom took me with her to the grocery store, I would always study the bride magazines at the checkout. For years, one of my most prized possessions was a 1992 People about the best weddings of both that year and of all time. I used to take out a flashlight and read it at night when I was supposed to be sleeping. My favorite dress was a tie between Toni Braxton's and Delta Burke's.
The panic--that you should be in second grade and not first grade, that you should be married and not single--causes people (me, Lola) to act in ways that aren't their best selves. I lied, Lola acts out. And, very luckily, we (real, fictional) are both saved by our friends.
We shot the movie last summer, and I was both thrilled and terrified the whole time. Like riding an unsafe carnival ride or kissing someone handsome. Lola: it was the titular role for a real movie studio and all of my feelings of inadequacy were very close to the surface. Just the standard "I'm not ______ enough" or "I'm too _______." One day we were shooting in the East Village and I was feeling especially not talented or pretty or worthy when, out of nowhere, I hear a beautiful, laughing, alto voice yell, "Greta! Greta!"
It was My Rock Star. She went to college with me and is still the coolest person I've ever actually met. She got home delivery of The New York Times to our dorm. She spoke other languages. She didn't have a cellphone. She has always seemed free in the way I think every girl who hopes to be called a woman wants to be free. I hadn't seen her in more than a year--she was always in Berlin or Paris or Alaska. Yet there she was on Second Avenue, unashamed, unmarried, unworried about what people thought she should be doing or where she should be going. She was my guardian angel on a skateboard. Actually, I'm not sure about the skateboard. But I do know she saved me in that moment. Really. As we hugged and laughed, I thought, Hey, I'm OK. I'm making a movie! And all this stuff I feel weird about is useful for Lola!
That's being an actress: trying to build a character out of self and imagination, figuring out life for fictional creations and for myself. Standing on the set of my movie, talking to my kick-ass magical rock-star friend, I could almost feel awesome about being 28 and secretly wanting a ridiculous wedding dress. Almost. I held a little back for Lola; she still needed some of my old insecurity.
