I had just finished reading Brandy/Emily Purdy's book The Boleyn Bride, a book about Elizabeth Boleyn, Anne's mother and her rendition of Anne Boleyn has got to be one of the most unsympathetic Anne's I had ever read and that includes Philippa Gregory's The Other Boleyn Girl . I don't also like the way George is portrayed in that book. He is more like Anne Boleyn's personal teddy instead of a character in his own right.

It's a fantastic book, in my opinion.
Anne Boleyn suggesting that her dad should fuck Henry VIII instead of her is the weirdest but most original take on the old « pimp daddy Boleyn » I’ve ever seen

I love her writing. Especially for the clothing descriptions.
“That’s why people loved stories so, I realized in that instant, because they found in them what was missing from their own lives, the things they knew, no matter how much or how hard they might hope and dream and scheme, they would never have.”

Ashes on the Wind:
The Love Story Behind the Crime of the Century by Brandy Purdy Genre: Dark Historical LGBTQ Romantic Suspense, True Crime The love story behind the Crime of the CenturyNathan “Babe” Leopold was a socially awkward genius who used arrogance as a shield. Sunday Salon / Sunday Post – A Week in the Life of Dollycas – Weekly Rewind – New Arrivals
The Sunday Salon is a Facebook group that has become an informal week-in-review gathering place for bloggers. It is also a place to share our thoughts about things of a bookish nature. You can also link up weekly on Readerbuzz. The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE! It was a busy week around here with book reviews and book tours. I am going to need to clone myself soon. There are just not enough hours in the day to get everything done, but I do love it. I had been feeling so tired of late and going to bed earlier and that has cut into my reading time. I overslept one morning until after 11 a.m.! Mr. Dollycas let me sleep and I appreciate it because I did feel better but I felt behind the rest of the week. I had a med check appointment recently with my primary and all my numbers looked good. I thought the older I got the less sleep I would need but that clearly isn't true in my case. We were unable to attend Thomas's soccer game this week due to the early start time. The little soccer star scored 2 goals. I am so upset I missed them. He only has a few games left with one at a later start time. I plan to be there to catch every minute. I am so proud of him and how he has continued to improve every week. It was Cardinal football on Friday night and it was homecoming. The team dominated winning 46 - 0. Kaden did play, not as much as we had hoped but he dominated on his own making some great tackles. It never gets old hearing "Kaden ... on the tackle" or "Tackle made by Kaden . . . " announced from the press box. Or seeing his smile when he comes off the field. Or the intensity on his face as he waits to take the field. Remi played last night and he played last Saturday too. While we were wedding dress shopping Mr. Dollycas and Remi's dad went to watch Remi play. These pictures are from last week. They won 36 - 0. Remi is #21. I will share pictures from tonight next week. How was your week? On a more serious note , authors that hate the Boleyns realllly love ventriloquising them calling themselves whores… in Weir’s AB novel, George Boleyn calls his own mother a whore , in PGreg’s TOBG, Mary Boleyn calls herself and Anne ‘whores’.
PGregs is Anne Boleyn a whore? I can’t tell if you think that??

Truly fascinating to me that classic cinema is a hobby of Brandy Purdy's, but even more fascinating is that (iirc) her favourite novel is... The Hobbit by J.R.R.Tolkien. A children's book with absolutely no sex in it. Wild.

Ugh, I had just finished reading Brandy Purdy's book "The Boleyn Wife" about Jane Boleyn and her version of Katheryn Howard is one of the worst versions of Katheryn Howard I has ever read. She makes Philippa Gregory's version of Katheryn Howard from her novel "The Boleyn Inheritance", Emily Blunt's Katheryn Howard from the 2003 miniseries "Henry VIII" and Tamsin Merchant's Katheryn Howard from "The Tudors" look like paragons of virtue in compared to Brandy Purdy's.

My favorite part of reading any historical fiction about Lizzie Borden is that first 25 pages when you’ve got to guess a) if they’ve written her as a lesbian or not and b) if the love interest will be Bridget or not
#if it’s set pre or around the murders it’s either Bridget or some fictional citizen of Fall River#and if it’s set after her acquittal it’s either Bridget or nance O’Neil#Lizzie Borden#currently reading#the secrets of Lizzie Borden#brandy purdy#my bookshelf

That Scene(TM) in That Historical Pulp Fiction Novel(TM)
So this historical novel I read 7-8 years ago, now out of print alas, had probably the most memorable scene in historical fiction just for sheer “...what..” factor
The book is titled The Tudor Wife except when it’s titled Vengeance is Mine except when it’s titled The Boleyn Wife (not to be confused with The Boleyn Bride a different book by the same author). The author’s name is Emily Purdy except when she’s Brandy Purdy. So the name and title of the book have like 6 different possible combinations.
You know a book is gonna be a wild ride when it can’t make its mind up what its title is
Also check out the covers they are sooooo pulp fictiony my eyes bleeeeeeeeeeeeeed
In this book Jane in her rush to betray the Boleyns gets a bone in her hand trodden on and broken. She then has sex with Thomas Cromwell.
BUT THAT’S NOT THE SCENE(TM)
I won’t describe The Scene(TM) but I will give you the ingredients:
1) One Anne of Cleves
2) One Katherine Howard
3) One jar of honey
#don't get me wrong I didn't think it is disrespectful for historical figures to be interpreted as gay#like they wouldn't like it#probably#but being gay is not a bad thing obviously#so it's inaccurate but I wouldn't call it *insulting*#calling it insulting has some unfortunate implications IMHO#like when Christian grey in 50 shades is all offended when ana asks him if he gay#anyway#the scene is memorable more for the outlandishness of it#jane parker#jane boleyn#Katherine howard#anne of cleves#tudor history#historical fiction#does this count as nsfw?#tudor memes#George boleyn#anne boleyn#brandy purdy#Emily purdy
