I had no interest to see a movie about Tetris, but the only single thing that could convince me to see it, i.e the person who actually MADE THE GODDAMN GAME, only being relegated to a side character compared to an American businessman who just licensed the game, is further proof that I refuse to watch the film adaptation.
#dumb stuff#please for the love of God do not watch the new wave of brand origin movies#this and Air and the movie about flamin hot Cheetos (????) PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE MONEY#we as a society have moved past the need for idolizing brands#tetris movie

Evolution of Gyaru
Hello everyone the long awaited post is here!! Sorry for the delay I has gone back to my he country to celebrate Lunar New Year.
As we all know Gyaru was and still is one of the most important fashion movement in the history because it's roots of opposing the "good girl" and "submissive" societal views of women that Japan had imposed into them.
During 90's with Namie Amuro being the first idol ever to popularize the Gyaru culture created a huge wave of community in all over Japan which eventually created many subcultures under it, over the years gyarus blossomed for 2 decades heavily but around early-mid 2010's the culture slowly died because people were now really trying to shun them out of the society, gyarus was losing it's popularity and old gyarus were getting to age of finding jobs or trying to get married yet the culture is still alive. There have been multiple support and love coming from international fans too.
Egg magazine, which is holy grail for us gyarus followers is still up and running to this day <3
Today i'll show you just a little glimpse of modern gyaru. Hopefully this will help new followers too.
Gyaru of the past:-
So let's start with how gyarus are usually seen, pictures below are gyarus from their peak eras so definitely from 90's to 2000's. They are all different subcultures but they all have one thing in common the eye makeup, gyarus were and are still known for their beautiful luscious eye makeup. They are what you call
They were our guide, our mothers and everything! Gyaru has always been the most supportive community to ever exist, over here women were allowed to cuss, they were allowed to be brash, they were allowed to have male friends without the judgement of two goody shoes with insecurities, they were allowed to wear clothes that liberated them doesn't matter short or modest.
People often forget that gyaru exists more than manba, agejo and kogal, few of the modest and lesser knows subcultures are amekaji and roma gyaru, although amekaji is is blue eyed perfect grass is greener on the other side take of American inspired fashion. Either way it is one of the most fun subculture to exist.
We as gyaru followers ow everything to these past mother figures, without them and without brands like alba rosa, D.I.A and MA*RS we and egg Magazine teaching us what? How? And why? We would never thrive in this era. We owe it to them all even after decades and decades the magazines, scans and tutorials on YouTube by the OG gyarus have done it all <3
Modern Gyaru:-
The pictures below are the present models of Egg magazine. The last OG gyaru issue was stopped in 2014 which was Egg last physical print of magazine but in 2018 Egg came back as online magazine.
A lot has changed in gyaru world. Long gone are the days of owning specific clothing brand or even wearing clothes that resemble even the least of typical gyaru fashion. The only key point which hasn't changed is eye makeup because that is utmost necessary thing for a gyal to have.
Over the years of almost dying to again alive fashion culture the meaning of gyaru has changed a lot, from dressing like the OG gyarus we have now evolved to the whole "gal is mind" mindset, now in this era dressing up as gyal doesn't mean that much because you can still have pointy acrylic nails, iconic eye makeup, wear casual clothes and still be a gyaru.
These days even the gyaru slangs have changed so much like instead of poyo, atonsu, pachikoku now we use yarirafi, kyun-desu, daijuobu-so?, tobu-zo and so on.
Although there are egg models that still somewhat follow OG gyaru fashion like @ / mahiroisme (left) and @ / kae. 06256 (right) on IG.
Conclusion:-
By this post I just wanted to show that as time passes it is inevitable that everything changes and fashion changing is a no brainer. What is hate is companies capitalizing and making their own rules for lure in newbies gyals who would do anything to "fit in" and ring the nostalgia bell for old gyarus and all I have to say is that no, you don't have to spend 100-500$ on eBay trying to find the OG gyaru brands because you can definitely wear your own casual clothes and still be a gyaru because if egg magazine who raised whole generation of x gen, millennials and Gen Z of gyarus then who are we to judge them?
Although if you still wish to dress up like OG then I definitely recommend finding clothes that match the subculture that you want to follow for example I follow agejo, Tsuyome and kogal so I shop in Amazon, local stores, Instagram stores, I order clothes fr abroad the most helpful and fast way to do that finding a vendor and my vendors are all from Instagram. Hope this helps.
I will meet you all in my next post bye gyals <3

navi/masterlist!! 🤍
hi @astrae4 !! yes, i'm your secret santa!! 🤭 sorry (not really hehe) for tricking you into thinking otherwise 🫢 it was very cute and funny to hear you say "it's definitely not you" when we were on call 🤣 had my camera been on, i wouldn't have gotten away with it 😫 just to let you know that @heemingyu was also playing along too (thanks for that and reading this, honey bee!) 😁 don't be too mad, dek! 😭 i'm innocent—
There are many good things about having a best friend who has known you since you were in diapers.
For you, the funniest reason would be how you would dead stare him across the room, with the straightest and plainest face, him directing one back at you. It sends the others into a fit of confusion, worries and frustration as none could ever figure out what’s in the duo’s minds. The chaotic reason would be that you would both wreak havoc together. Like that one time during the last day of primary school when you both decide to fill up thirty water balloons to their full capacity and throw them to any of the teachers in the outdoor field, fearless of the possibility of getting in trouble as graduation was around three hours after. The embarrassing reason would be that Chanhee would come to cheer you on your sport, luxuriously with his branded clothes from all his hard work, holding his big handmade slogan to support you as you glide across the ice to your routine. He would always get an earful from you after but he got his karma when you came in, dressed in highlighter yellow, sitting on the front row seat to his singing performance.
It’s the day that everyone has realised that the two of you are menaces to society.
The comforting reason, and is one of the biggest reasons why you two are still stuck to the hip after a decade, would be that when your lips are pouted, eyes glistening with tears, hugging your knees to your chest and whimpering your worries in the night, Chanhee would sit beside you wordlessly. Patiently waiting for you to cry your feelings out, patting your back rhythmically as he sometimes let time pass by scrolling through his phone, occasionally showing the funny reel on his screen to get you to join in his laughs. For him, the moment of calmness when you both would hit the breaks to your chaotic lives would be the best ones too with Friday nights becoming obligatory ‘brake time to get a break from society’ which can sometimes be too much.
But this Friday is a bit different.
Your final skating competition before you graduate high school is coming up in less than a month and despite the nervous butterflies growing in your stomach, you’re still very much excited to participate. You’re somewhat confident that you’ll do well, especially with all the experience that you have and the achievements and trophies that show off your hard work. But all of that didn’t stop you from agreeing to the voice in your head that tells you to put your blades on and just bask in the cold. Feeling nervous is a given but you have to believe in yourself that you can win this scholarship to your dream university.
The blades of your skates glide smoothly across the new ice sheet that has recently resurfaced once more. This is the second time that you had to step out of the rink and it shows the duration that you’ve spent without thinking much. Even when the doors to the public were closed, through your coach and her connections to the people who work at the rink, you were able to stay for even longer. Staying on the ice also meant that you were separated from your phone, leaving everyone on delivered for another two hours.
But Chanhee knows your habits, driving to the ice rink and pushing the still-unlocked front door to see you skating leisurely without a care in the world. He smiles warmly behind his blue scarf, delighted at the little smile and satisfying self-cheer when you land correctly, scratching the ice with your achievements once again. Silently, he sits down on one of the benches, going on his phone but still occasionally looking at your dancing figure once in a while.
You don’t know how you missed a whole hour of another person’s presence—or maybe it’s because you’re so used to and comfortable with him that you don’t notice him—but you literally almost trip from the ice and the edge of the ice rink when you spot your best friend with his Hello Kitty beanie that you gifted him this year for his birthday.
“Slow down.” He tries to hold his laughter when you let out a puff of air, annoyed at your clumsiness. “You should come eat. I’m sure you forgot about that.”
The mention of food and the familiar takeout bag from your favourite place brightens your face, the corners of your lips lifting immensely and you kick off your shoes, tiptoeing in the cold and wet puddles to quickly fill up your stomach after a successful practice session.
“Knew I could count on you.”
“Duh.” He rolls his eyes playfully. “I feel so bad for your stockings, I swear.” Commenting on your slightly damp black fabric.
The only response he got was the way you rub the watered part onto his pants, him shrieking and sliding himself away from you on the bench, only for you to of course follow him. In the end, when he reaches the end of the aluminium seat, he only groans and tells you off, giving an empty warning that he’ll never pick you up and buy you food ever again. When you put your tongue out, making a funny face to him, his cheeks blush hues of red and pink in the dimly lit seating area—you didn’t see it though as you were too focused on the flavours bursting in your mouth.
When you fully focus back on your food once again, leaving him in his little world, Chanhee buries his lower face further into his scarf, away from your field of vision. He leans a little bit back to make sure he can just admire you without being too obvious. His heart flutters when his mind replays back to your mischievous and cute face, and the way you didn’t mind being so close to his face—though he was freaking out about it all.
But how could he ever tell you? Because he can’t even explain to you when he started to fall for you. Was it that time when you ran to him at primary school, winging about how you needed a friend to get ice cream? Or that time when you stayed by his side and continued to support him when he hit the hard times while he was preparing for his first performance in high school? What about that time when you would just lay on his shoulder and listen to his worries, completely understanding his thoughts, never judging him through words or facial expressions?
He can’t even make sense of it to himself. Let alone with you.
“I’m annoyed.” Your voice trails off in the big area but it reaches his ears easily.
Judging from the way your feet kick the air and the accommodating tone of your voice with your words, Chanhee’s lips pull into a straight line. “Another one?” followed by a deep chuckle and a frustrated sigh from you.
“It’s not that funny, okay? You know I’m bad at rejecting…”
He ponders the thought behind your words, nodding as his memories play the series or tears after politely and in some cases, not as kindhearted, rejecting the ones who made an advance for you. When asked why those tears were showing, you commented how “it didn't feel right” and alternatives to “he didn't feel at home. He likes me because of my appearance. He's never even talked to me!”
Chanhee wishes that it would never be like that for him. But it's okay, for he would never tell you his feelings for you anyway.
The realization weighed deeply in his heart, resonating hurt throughout his entire body. He glances over at you, hopefully discreetly, with how much love he could give you at any time. Impulsively, acting with a tinge of jealousy and possessiveness, the suggestion curled out from his tongue without another thought.
“Date me instead.”
Your feet stop kicking the air and both of your bodies are now stiff with widened eyes, as if the cold finally got to you guys.
“What?”
It sends Chanhee into a momentary faze and the blush on his cheeks spreads through not only his face but his entire body.
“Fake!”
“HUH?”
“Like, fake dating!”
Then the implications behind his words finally sink into you. You didn’t realise this before but the idea does seem great for someone like you who has been trying to get people off your case. It’s tiring, especially when you can’t find a proper connection with either of them—none of them was better than your connection with Chanhee.
“For once in your life,” Your hand gives him a firm pat on his shivering shoulders, “you have come up with a great idea.”
Playing off the slight hurt in his heart, knowing that from your words that you didn’t see him anymore than just friends, Chanhee bravely flashes you a smile. “Do you want to or not?”
“...what’s the catch?” The growing grin on his face tells you everything. “I know you, Choi Chanhee. There’s no way something as taxing and effortful as dealing with me, has no catch to this agreement. Tell me!”
“The catch is,” he takes off his scarf, exposing the lower half of his face to you. Carefully, he wraps the dark blue material around yours, no longer seeing the exhaling white air, “that you get to listen to whatever I say.”
Adding a little touch to this, he bops the tip of your nose earning a deep grunt and shove from you but your hands still held on to the top edge of his scarf, enjoying the familiar scent and warmth that came from it.
“Does that soothe your chaotic mind?”
“Mhm.” You hum in agreement, feeling your neck loosen from all the tension from the previous regular meetups that you both will have. Especially with you being so busy the entire time, it was nearly impossible to meet up with Chanhee unless he was the one going all the way for you.
“Nothing will change.” Chanhee shrugs. “We’re just…us. Everyone is already thinking that we’re dating anyway so the only thing that'll change is more hand-holding and all that.”
“No kissing!”
“W-Wha--Of course not!” This time, you were shoved back. “Who wants to kiss you anyway? You literally drool in your sleep!”
“Hey!” With each growing rebuttal, so did the echo that bounced within the walls, “Don’t say that! You know how lonely, I am! That’s so mean!”
The laughing boy didn’t do much to ease you, just sticking a tongue out at you. He did, however, reach out to hold your icy hand. It made him frown, the little mountain growing on his lips. Suddenly, the gap between your body closes with him wrapping a secure hold of your waist. Confused by the sudden proximity, you let out a string of stutters as you look up to see him already staring at you.
“W-What are you…doing…?”
“We’re dating now.” He shrugs nonchalantly, “You have to get used to this.”
“No one is here, Chanhee.”
He has never been one to initiate skinship. It has always been you cuddling up to his side like a koala, clinging and dragging him to every single place that you wanted to go.
“J-Just…leave me alone and let me hug you.” And he did. Your upper body twists to completely face him and your chin goes over the scarf to rest on his padded jacket. The height difference is why he had to bend to your figure, basically slumping over you but neither of you minded. With a clear of his throat without another word or action, he lets you go, stands up and asks for your hand. “It’s too cold. Let’s go, I’ll drop you home.”
“Wait Chanhee…”
You drag the last syllable and the hand that reaches out for you slowly lowers. Chanhee sighs, knowing that it can't be good judging from the tone and the way your lips pull sideways.
“I need to rant about my upcoming duet routine.”
“Oh.”
He remembers the first time when you did perform once with someone else. Of course in group work, your effort and contributions matter just as much as theirs would matter to you. But your first (and what you hoped to be your last) partner ruined all potentially happy thoughts about performing with someone else. It sucked that even though you both did win a place at the podium, the stress and effort of basically choreographing at least ninety percent of the routine was not worth the bronze medal on the podium.
For a short while, it killed you to be on the ice and you refused to even step back there without a pressing reason. You're thankful that your coach has always been an understanding one because if she wasn't, your career in figure skating would be shredded at this point. Chanhee did help too, reminding you of the joy and laughter, even making himself borrow some skates from his friend. It led to bruises and him face-planting into the pile of snow but at least he got to see the way your eyebags disappeared over time.
That's more than worth it for him.
“You'll be alright.” He reassured first, kneeling to get into eye level with you even though yours is downcasted. He knows that your mind would go back to the past. “You got a shit partner but you'll be fine. I promise you that you'll do better this time.”
“I hope…”
“Who is it with this time?”
Despite breathing the cool air whenever you could, you could never get enough of it.
“Lee Juyeon.”
Something inside him stops. Time didn't though because from his peripherals, he noticed how you stood and skipped your way down to the ground floor, patting your outfit dry as if some sort of ice or dust had dirtied it. He hears your announcement, shouting that you will get your things ready from the back room and miraculously, he lets out a croaked answer in return.
Lee Juyeon.
Everyone in school loved him, Chanhee included. Most wanted to date him, others wanted to be him while the remaining loathed the way he was perfect in every way. In short, Lee Juyeon is the total opposite of Choi Chanhee.
He prefers to spend his days quietly in the library alone while Juyeon prefers to attend parties. While Chanhee would be in his bed sleeping in the morning, Juyeon would be taking his daily morning run before rushing back home to shower and get ready for the school day. When Juyeon would be in his weekly student council meetings, Chanhee would eat ice cream at that nearby restaurant, basking in the sweetness after a stressful day.
This unfamiliar feeling sends Chanhee into a slight brain freeze when he imagines you both not only close physically but the fact that you will be near the perfect boy for the majority of your time—and the fact that he won't be able to spend time with you because you'll be busy with other priorities—makes the green feeling inside his chest grow with the devil snickering inside his head. He was still so deep in thought that he didn't even notice you wave your hands infront of his face despite having his eyes seemingly on your face.
“It's almost midnight.” You say, opting to drag him out of the building with a hold of his clothed wrist. “Daydream later, loser.”
Oh, you're so right about that. And he's in deep trouble about it all.
What he didn’t truly prepare for, however, is the number of times that you would leave him on delivered, responding to his messages from the beginning of the day to the end in one go, buzzing his phone repeatedly when he’s doing his final skin routine before sleep takes over him. He’s still understanding, knowing how the competition is important for you. At least she still answers me back right? He reassures himself while throwing the face mask away, the cooling air on his face suddenly turns his mind back to the short ‘date’ from the other day.
He still remembers the pink checkered shorts that you paired with a simple button white long sleeve. Your hair is freed in the wind, taking the scent of your shampoo—to him. The struggles of keeping his palm dry when it’s around yours, and the bigger struggle to keep his skin neutral void of any redness whenever he catches a glance of your smile.
“Once more!” You plead, handing your phone back to him after switching back to the camera app.
Despite the roll of his eyes, he’s thankful that the device hid his face from yours, even if it’s only a while. He focuses on the screen and your figure, arguably more than the technology. He directs your poses: hands collecting your hair into a bun, looking down at your feet while the other shot is one of you puckering your lips, looking to the side with a quick peace sign.
Both became his lock and home screen using the excuse of making the relationship more believable—we know more than that though.
It fuels his hate for himself and Juyeon when he texts you that he finished the final part of the routine, asking if you’re free to test it out with him.
After that, school was the only place where you would exchange smiles, stick out tongues, share food, hugs and even kisses on each other’s cheeks, Chanhee only found himself in deep trouble. The public display of affection did make other boys leave you alone, gulping and scurrying away in masses when he would throw them a side glare, his hand on your waist tightening his hold each time.
It would drag your attention to him, whenever he does that. Such a new feeling, yet fluttering and intimate. You would clutch the loose fabric of his shirt, hand once relaxed on his chest. Brown eyes would run over the creases of disgust and the lines of fury across his usual soft, kind face. Whenever you would ask him for a peek inside his mind, his eyes would quickly turn to the ones that he would usually show whenever he would laugh and nag you to put your upper body back inside his car in the late-night drives. Or when you would do your night routines together every single time, without fail—for your information, it’s been two weeks since then.
Sure it’s all for show, but two weeks ago when he proposed the idea, it seemed that nothing had changed for him and even though he’s glad that no one is crazily chasing after you anymore, it hurt that he feels like he’s been abandoned by you. Heck, he hasn’t even taken you out for a ‘date’ yet. Friendly date, ‘fake’ date. The label that you would put on it didn’t matter much for him as long he took some of your time.
So now, with the owl hooting outside his window, dressed and ready to sleep with his Hello Kitty pyjamas, something is telling him to pick up his keys from the handmade bowl that you both messily painted as kids, go for some drive-through to pick up your favourite food and drive to the ice rink.
The sight that greeted him when he did reach his destination caused the paper cup in his hand to spill all over the rubber of the ice rink. The low-pitched clatter stops the laughs that erupt from you and the male who had his arms wrapped around your waist, his defined chest pressing comfortably against your exposed back due to your outfit, is the one who straightens his back first, noticing the painful gaze from outside the rink.
But again, Juyeon is everything Chanhee isn’t.
The way that Juyeon let out that signature ‘oh’ of his with the sickening way that he hollers a greeting to the envious boy, not even bothering to throw a discouraging comment that would hurt his pride and would then rightfully give a reason to hate him that has a glad upturned smile on his face, Chanhee would’ve run straight back to the door that he opened excitedly before. Just like your skating partner, you also let out an ‘oh!’ at his presence and he couldn’t help but think that now, Juyeon isn’t taking away his time with you anymore but also the way you speak.
Leisurely gliding your way towards the railing of the enclosed rink, the anterior side of your forearm rests, your feet still making little circles on the part of the rink that wouldn’t usually be given that much attention to professional skaters like you.
“Having fun?” It came out more venomous and spiteful than he thought. Even his eyes widened slightly in fear, seeing a similar look in your eyes. But he maintains eye contact with you, the paper of the takeaway scrunching rapidly under his hold.
“I’ll leave you two lovebirds alone. See you tomorr—”
“She has a date with me tomorrow.”
“Wait, Chanh—”
“Right?”
It’s so impossible to miss. Not with the way that maybe if Chanhee blinks, the normal act could’ve probably sent his eyes into a newfound breakdown that he has been trying so desperately to hide. Especially not in front of Juyeon, he’s not about to cry now.
Your chest raises, inhaling the stuffy air to your beating lungs. Lips parted to start speaking your thoughts and Chanhee watched with a more definite crease between his eyebrows as you could only articulate the sounds of some familiar words, unable to audibly tell him anything. For what seemed like forever, you both just looked at each other. You tilt your head every single time your best friend directs his attention away to his house slippers back to your eyes. Beneath the tough exterior that he’s putting on, it’s easy for you to see how something is troubling him.
The first one is his attire. Unless you were in a life-or-death situation, there is no way Chanhee would stain the white satin button-up and long pants. There was one time when you were begging profusely for a late-night snack and spontaneous hangout but even then, he just nodded and hummed into the phone, telling you that he needs to “keep the white pure, away from the sins of the outside world.”
Juyeon quietly leaves the scene, hand giving a tight squeeze before disappearing for the night.
“Let’s sit down?” You offer, uncertainty clouding your judgement.
The bench awaits patiently for you, the jacket lazily slopped over it. You’re so tense and unsure about the situation that even taking the steps up the dry stairs was so quiet—more silent than the shaking exhales that the puff of coloured air made due to the cold. Your fingers brush against the fine hair of the material but you didn’t put it on yourself. The tips of your hair flip around to see your best friend not even anywhere near the bottom step, still frozen in the same place as before.
Knowing that you won’t be in the mood to skate after whatever confrontation and conversation you’ll have with him, you pack your bags, slipping off into comfortable shoes for running—if you really have to. Chanhee’s bangs fell over his eyes easily with the downward tilt of his head, a miracle that his neck wasn’t cramping right now. From the shadows on the ground, a long line goes over his head and his shoulder lazes a new heavy material. The body part tries to shake the warmth stubbornly but a click of your tongue is what stops Chanhee from flopping around like a dying fish.
“Did you know my dad used to be in the mafia?”
It’s supposed to take you both out of this challenging atmosphere but you know that even though his eyes are hidden because of his posture and his grown strands, he isn’t going to return the playfulness. The strap of your backpack is the only one that knows your nervousness, croaking due to the leather material, your nails probably engraving this moment into its skin.
“Juyeon…huh?”
A broken laugh comes out from you, eyes wandering to the background space around his head area. Has the wall always had that crack on the wall? Oh…how is the fly surviving in this weather? Is it raining outsi—
“Do you like Juyeon?”
“W-What?” Why did the question hurt so much to hear? “I’m dating you, Chanhee.”
“I don’t think anyone believes it to be honest.” He shrugs, adamant about staying focused on the topic. “I just wanted to know,” His eyes dart around the place, anywhere but to you, “wanting to know if you’re part of the ninety percent of our cohort that likes him.”
“Oh.” It was out of nowhere but being suspicious isn’t the right word to describe it. It was more to curiosity as to why Chanhee would just ask such a thing all of a sudden. “I do think he’s attractive.” You shrug leisurely, unaware of the screaming in his head. “He’s a good partner too.”
Chanhee tries his best to mask the growing ache in his chest, blankly nodding. “He is your type after all.”
“I have a type?” One of your eyebrows rises, “I didn’t even know that myself.”
“Right…” Finally, the food is shoved into your chest, just like how it’s always been. If so, then why did it hurt you when he told you, “Date him then.”
An immeasurable kind of clench was made by the muscles around your heart.
“W-What?”
Thank god you changed shoes because he stormed out right after.
Your phone also became silent, no more life was given to Chanhee. What annoyed you most wasn’t the ‘good’ news that spread to the boys but the fact that he would make it so obvious that he hated you whenever you would make your presence known to him.
“Talk to him after this.” Juyeon encourages you, handing your bottle of water from his hand.
“I can’t.” You huffed. “He treats me like a plague.”
You quite literally cannot have this in your mind right now. The competition is in a few hours and you messed up both of your rehearsals for tonight. The slight pain that throbs from your lower palm will be, you swear, used to slap someone who truly deserves a wake-up call. As the sun rose each day for the past week, it also burnt along your hopes that Chanhee would talk and ease your worries so that you could dance freely, marking your perfect twirls on the ice that shines along with you.
Juyeon’s eyes relax, sending you a slumped smile with half-lidded eyes. “Does he know about tonight?”
You did indeed send him a message about today but you’re doubtful that he would come. You even tried bribing him with free food but maybe the boy knows that your anger might turn to something more, saving himself from your hits and complaints.
But you’re just unaware of what he’s truly trying to save himself from.
The sunset marks the start of the open doors. Relatives, schoolmates, acquaintances and even strangers bustle through with their appropriate clothes—including a young girl with short sleeves that you are sure would throw a fit to ask her mother for a jacket—all gathered to support the skaters, especially those who have university representatives to impress.
With the cute bright pink mittens, the waving hands catch your attention quickly. You send a quick wave back to your sister who waves the supportive banner she made, along with your parents who gave you thumbs up, placing their hands around the circumference of their mouth to shout and holler at you.
It’s all so awesome.
But it would’ve been perfect had someone else come.
The realisation makes your heart drop. Chanhee has always come to all your competitions without fail but this one, when everything is on the line. Before you have to completely push your phone away, your thumbs search for his contacts, automatically just checking in your recent section. Even though the relationship between you is ambiguous, you couldn’t find it in you to change his name which implies a romantic title for him.
It seems right.
It seemed that no one should have that title but him.
Your eyelids collect as much water as they can before it spills onto the phone screen. It seemingly glitches the words on the glass, distorting your spam messages for him. “Just come…please…” you whisper before texting him the same exact words that you just said.
But he decides to crush the final hopes that you ever had in him, leaving you on seen once again. The familiar shout that gathers all the players rings through your ears and Juyeon’s figure behind you also tells you that it’s time to push Chanhee aside for now.
“He’s not my boyfriend, Ju…” The truth spills out and even though the boy has things to ask, he decides to let you rant before going. “But I want him to be.”
You know this now with the distance he puts between you.
It’s suffocating.
More than dehydration. More than the minus temperature. More than the scratch on your hand.
“I just want him, Juyeon…” Beads in your eyes, shaking lips and true feelings. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay.” He nods, wishing the best for you. “I knew that my feelings wouldn’t be reciprocated.”
It lifted off a weight in your chest, knowing that Juyeon’s reassurance that you would both still stay friends. You both sway beautifully on the ice, balancing and leaving the audience in awe, judges in amazement and competitors in envy. If there is one thing you can take away from this, is that for you, being on ice with someone else can truly be fun. You both promise to meet each other on the ice next time, in the future, professionally and relieve this perfect teammate chemistry once again.
And now, you’re shaking your limbs, trying your best to ease your nerves.
Still no sign of him.
You force your neck to look down, just focusing on the marks of the moulded plastic and leather, plunging the front spikes of the shoes into the floor.
“That’s…going to make a mark.”
That voice.
The one that could ever stare at you with a blank stare and contain his laughter. The one that would leave others in fear whenever a sinister smile and wiggling of eyebrows would be sent to each other. The same one that stands beside you, taking the blame alone when the drenched teacher finds you both.
The same one that would usually sit by your sister and make the banner with her, splashing on extra glitter and Hello Kitty stickers. The same one that would lend his luxury brand accessories, not getting mad if you accidentally broke it.
It propels you forward to his already half-opened arms, waiting for you, always reserved for you. Just as you promised to yourself, Chanhee takes the hits on his chest, listening to your words and letting his clothes seep your cries.
“I know, I’m sorry.” One hand encircles your waist from behind, the other patting your hairsprayed scalp. “I won’t lie that I skipped the one you did with Juyeon but I know your parents recorded it so,” he shrugs, “but I’m here for the main performance. Yours.”
Your small chuckle made him do the same. “You’re not wearing a stupid outfit.”
Chanhee hums. “I thought I would be a very supportive friend and won’t embarrass you for this event.”
“Boyfriend.”
“W-What?”
“You’re my boyfriend.”
It leaves him in a daze but he knows that you weren’t joking. To him, his gulp seemed a bit loud but maybe with the way you slowly left his arms, you might’ve missed it.
“I love you, Chanhee.” Your eyes searched for rejection but all he did was blink at you rapidly. You took this as a sign to keep going. “I think I always have and you being idiotic just made it clear to me.”
“O-Oh…”
“D-Do you—” You shake your head, waving your hands the same way to him. “Actually don’t tell me! Let me skate first. J-Just watch me…”
When was the last time Chanhee has seen you so flustered? It leaves him breathless and his heart soaring and he knows within himself that he wants to be the only one to ever put you in that state. He gives a nod, a smile plastered on his face. You thought he would join your parents on the bench but he stays near the entrance of the rink, giving your lower back the lightest touch, whispering you a final message before you enter the spotlight.
The message rings in your ear the whole time. The music suddenly fades but every time you could catch a glimpse of Chanhee, you know that he didn’t say it for you to feel flustered and fail.
And fail, did you not.
The reward on the podium with a gold medal hanging around your neck sends you many obstacles of representatives who want you to join the team. But they could wait.
Just like a few minutes ago, your arms circles his neck, pushing Chanhee’s lips to your own. A few seconds before your lips meet him, the boy lets out a little ‘hmph’ before he softens, his eyes closing in the same time and way yours does. The way the cold replaces the warmth of his lips leaves you both chuckling even when he momentarily pushes you away to save himself from the tickles that you gave his waist. But once again, the words that he whispers against your shy lips remind you that his eyes have always held the same love that you have given him and the way your lips move passionately in sync with his, tells you that he wasn’t playing around with his words.
With your heart.
With you.
“I love you,” he tells you with his lips.
The motives behind his proposal with this whole fiasco become clear and the redness on your face is no longer due to the energy-consuming routine that you just performed. It deepens when he gives you his mittens, slipping them through your fingers and messaging each one with care. It deepens further when he lends you a fabric to keep your throat healthy so that you can confess to him again. It deepens even more when he realises that you’re shivering after the adrenaline of your sport drains you and he wraps his scent around your uniform.
“Thanks for making my winters warmer.”

Amok - Absolutely
Shidou Ryusei x Reader
Quote: "Fall in love because it's your God-given right."
Shidou Ryusei was, in every manner of the word amok. Uncontrollable and disruptive.
Wild.
Brilliantly brazen in a way that not many things are.
Practically a force of nature.
A very alterent of human nature.
So, it was only expected that he would enter into an industry where he’d be able to do what someone like him did best. Draw in the attention of everyone around him. The life of an idol. He had, at one point, been invested in soccer but an injury here and accident there was enough to throw those dreams out the window.
But alas, that was but the past. Here and now he was an idol hopeful at the best school. A brand new world where only the best of the best are brought and found. Coming in through the special program known as Blue Lock.
Unconventional.
Cutthroat.
And wild.
Some were baffled and most backed away from such a strange program. But this was exactly the way he preferred things. The only way he would have chosen to live if possible.
The only certain way of leaving your mark on society.
The only certain way to leave your mark on the world.
It is, in modern society, almost a job to be praised by another - specifically another in the same industry or similar position. There are, of course, expectations for every rule but the generalization of it as a rule is simply because it appears so very often in present day society - for what’s a rule if not a standardized way of understanding things?
Regardless of the specifics, it could be said that praise in this world we live in, and specifically the idol world, is not easy to come by from other idols.
This was not so much the case for Shidou Ryusei.
Well, perhaps it was but in a roundabout way.
If Shidou considered someone brilliant he would proclaim it to the heavens.
If someone acted in a way Shidou considered admirable he made it clear he knew. Always made it clear what he thought and felt - leaving no room for any misinterpretations. And such was the only way for someone like him to live.
Though, it wasn’t as if everyone caught his attention.
Much like everyone else, his praise had to be earned.
Searches for someone that sparks.
Shidou hears the jazzy sound of the saxophone and snazzy beat of the drum before he hears your voice. Notices the jumpy piano only slightly after.
“Hey, be kind, be patient~ Be hard to please~ It seems contradicting, but do it honestly~ Just give a little, give a little, give a little, give a little~ Until you disintegrate~”
It catches his attention as he makes his way through the cafe.
Pop songs are what’s mostly popular nowadays. The cheerful upbeat songs that girls like you usually sing aren’t exactly Shidou’s cup of tea but he doesn't mind them all too much. Not like a certain stuck up classmate of his. They’re catchy and fun. Easy to understand and easy to play. Easy to like.
What really surprises him is how good your voice sounds with something one could almost consider Jazz. It’s exciting and unique. Gets his heart pumping dramatically in a way that it doesn't usually.
Almost sparks something.
Finds himself standing stuck to the spot until your song is finished. Practically entranced by your very being itself. Got his heart pounding dramatically and got the adrenaline running through his veins.
It’s exciting.
Thrilling.
Something so very him.
If someone acted in a way Shidou considered admirable he made it clear he knew. Always made it clear what he thought and felt - leaving no room for any misinterpretations. And such was the only way for someone like him to live.
Immediately he makes his way to you. Shidou notes that you’re pretty. Not jaw droppingly gorgeous but pretty enough that he’d do a double take on the street. Pretty enough to make his heart skip a beat. What really sets you apart from everyone else is those eyes. They’re brilliant and seem to exude everything he looks for in a person.
Though, it wasn’t as if everyone caught his attention.
You smile coyly as he approaches you, holding your hands behind you back in that polite fashion that pretty girls like you usually do. You’re so warm and bright - so very different from him. Now Shidou doesn't like to consider himself snobby. He’ll hang around anyone that gets his blood pumping, but those people aren’t usually like you. Typically a little more like him. Bold and brazen. Chaotic. Everything that you are not. And yet his heart seems to race with every step closer he takes.
But, of course, there were obviously people in this world that could catch his attention. More often than not, it was people like you. Someone brilliant.
“I like you!” Shidou declares. Loudly, proudly, and suddenly as his hand came in contact with yours. Your hand fits so perfectly in his own that he finds it cute. Finds you cute.
You smile politely, “thank you.”
“Bet you’re used to hearing that a lot,” Shidou grins from ear to ear, “aren’t ya?”
Your voice is coy and humble in every way that he isn’t as you reply, “not in such a straightforward fashion.”
His voice is brazen and bold in every way that you’re not, “perform with me.” It’s more of a command than it is a question.
“You’re with the Blue Lock agency, aren’t you?” You ask and Shidou finds himself torn, debating if your words were more condescending or curious. You say it in such a tone that he can’t really decide. In such a way that he’s certain makes even you unsure of how exactly you mean it.
Shidou nods proudly, “Shidou Ryusei. You’ve heard of me, haven’t you?”
“I doubt there’s a person on campus that hasn’t heard about the Blue Lock boys.” You say.
“Not what I asked, Sweetheart.”
You raise a brow, “sweetheart?”
“Ain’t that what you are?” Shidou asks, “a sweetheart?”
“I-” you seem at a loss for words as you attempt to recollect yourself, seemingly stuck between declining the compliment (in the polite way that most people do) and accepting it (in the way that Shidou really wants you to). “I suppose so.”
Shidou grins in response like a man who’s just won some great mystery prize, “course~”
You’re quick to recollect yourself, seeming recalibrating internally, as you flash Shidou a polite smile, “it’s a pleasure to meet you, Shidou.”
“Ryusei.”
“Hm?”
“Call me Ryusei.”
You scratch the back of your neck in an embarrassed manner, “I don’t think that’d be very appropriate.”
“It is.”
“And why’s that?”
“I said it before, didn’t I?” Shidou grins in a way that typically makes people’s hearts race, “because I like you~”
Bets that your heart's racing right now with how red your face gets. Imagines you’re not used to boys that’re bold and brazen like him - and he likes that. Likes that he’ll be the first man to barge into your life like a storm in an attempt to sweep you off your feet.
Someone like you deserves nothing less.
In the end he doesn't get you to agree to do a song with him but he does get your number!
Guess you win some and you lose some.
---
Despite how bright the sun seems and how blue the sky looks, the windy ocean breeze is ever so chilly. The golden sand is warm if only against the skin of your feet as you make your way to the water, Shidou’s hand wrapped tightly around your own.
He’d cornered you during the first period and managed to convince you to skip your classes for the rest of the day to hang out with him. Told you that he’d follow you to all your classes (regardless of if he was in them or not) and pester you until you finally agreed. And, being the ever sensible person that Shiodu isn’t you agree. Spare your classmates and teachers the pain, you suppose.
He ended up dragging you to the train station with a playful sorta look on his face that you just can’t seem to ignore. He’s just so damn happy that you agreed to come with him to the beach. You called it kidnapping or cohesion. He called it spending time with a friend.
He keeps his hand wrapped tightly around yours despite knowing you won’t pull away.
You’re such a nice girl.
Such a pretty girl.
He’d bet a whole lotta money that you’ve broken more than your fair share of hearts. You walk around with a warm smile on your face and a playful gleam in your eyes that’s magnetic.
“What kinda guys do you like?” Shidou asks.
“Hm,” you smile teasingly, “your brash aptitude to asking personal questions never ceases to surprise me.”
He takes the insult in stride, “thank you, pretty girl.”
“Well, at least you aren’t shy.”
Shidou quirks a brow, “you into shy guys?”
“Do you think I am?”
Anyone else, anyone sensible, likely would have pondered on that question for a little. Let it stir in his mind. Marinate overnight and debate on the implication the slight raise of your lip (always slightly more on the left than right) might mean. He might’ve wondered if you were testing him if he’d been anyone else. Might’ve even let go of your hand and look you in the face.
But Shidou is not everyone else.
He is distinctly and uniquely him.
A wild brazen storm running amok.
So of course he shakes his head, “course not. Why else would you be here with me?”
You seemed to have gotten better at hiding the surprise, or maybe you’ve gotten used to the surprise that he’s been afforded in return for his brash words. Well he doesn't consider it brash (preferring the term confident) but you do. And he likes you.
You smile in that polite way that he can’t, “perhaps you’re right.”
“Perhaps? Please, I’m always right.”
“Oh are you now?”
“Always right when it comes to you~”
And there’s the blush he’s been working towards.
Likes how you look when you blush - which is probably why he tries to make it happen so often. Though, one could also argue that that’s just how personality is.
You look off longingly towards the water, as if it holds the key to your heart. With a longing that Shidou’s all too familiar with.
So what else does Shidou do but drag you into the water? Brashly and boldly; not caring that the both of you are wearing running shoes and socks. To him, those are but simple little things. A note left alone in the bottom of a bag. Barely any notice.
You look as if you’re about to protest but stop by the time the water reaches your knees.
Much too late to complain about spilled milk now.
Well, Shidou might have to hear about it on the ride back when you both got wet shoes but that’s later and this is now.
Your hand somehow manages to slip from his own as you wander ahead of him.
Now, Shidou would never consider someone a God. Not for any religious beliefs of some strong self of self assurance but because he loved humanity. Loved it in a way a mother should unconditionally love her child.
He also happens to love a challenge - and even more so overcoming that challenge.
But you, Shidou thinks, out of everyone, could have been a God.
No.
Perhaps not a God.
Prometheus - if he had to give you a comparison. Someone that hands between humanity and immortality. Between life and death. Between this world and the rest of the universe. You were more than a human that simply walked upon this earth.
A thief in the night if his heart could be considered flames.
“This is how I want to die.” You say, your voice ever so soft and ever so gentle in that way that Shidou is not. You hold your hands behind your back as you turn around to face him, a pretty smile on your face. He wonders how it would feel to pull you close against him and press his lips to yours.
Your words, as they usually are, surprise him.
It’s not something he’d expect you to say.
Not something anyone would imagine you saying. Not while you’re so young and bright. So youthful and innocent. One could almost call it juxtaposition as you stand in the water, your shoes soaked, facing him, and proclaiming death as a companion.
His heart skips a beat.
This is it.
That spark.
“You’re brilliant!” Shidou exclaimed, as he took your hand in his own, “go out with me!”
Fall in love because it’s your God given right.
In the end he doesn't get you to agree to going out with him, but he does manage to get you to press a chaste kiss to his cheek.
Guess you win some and you lose some.

Elu is hesitant in new things but tries to keep an open mind. It’s difficult to adjust because she is unsure of what would happen if she tries something new and it might end up a bad experience. Not to mention growing up in an isolated village doesn’t give her enough exposure to foreign cultures.
Locals in her homeland know her to be a strong-willed girl who can be brutally honest because she intends to fix the problem right away, she believes that sugar-coating would delay the solution and make it worse. Though she does feel a little bad if someone cries from her criticism.
Being a beastman, she is very agile with a keen sense of smell as well as strength that surpasses humans. She often goes out hunting with the older members of the group and she displays full cooperation with other teammates.
But another thing to note is that she is a black bear beastman, her temperament is calm but she has a thin patience and she will growl or roar in anger. Despite being so small, she has incredible physical strength.
One thing she dislikes is when the team is unstable and problematic, she would quickly abandon that group and do the job herself or find another that’s got their heads together. She’d rather have the task done quickly and efficiently with no side tracking.
Unfortunately, this gives off the impression that she’s cold and unsociable which is far from the truth. She just needs to tone down a little bit.
Elu is actually mature and gives advice for those who can’t look after themselves. She enjoys the simple things in life and can have her moments where she spouts words of wisdom that makes others think she’s a wise, old sage.
Hometown: Bearland Woods
Family History
She grew up in a village where the locals rarely or never interact with outsiders. They aren’t against having outsiders visit but it was clear they don’t know how to handle interacting with people living different lifestyles.
The villagers are all beastmen who are mostly of the bear genus, though there are some who are deer and raccoon. Everyone knows each other and treat each other as if they were all family. Which means they don’t stand idly by if one of them gets hurt.
But they’ve been especially wary of outsiders after a group of shady businessmen started causing problems for them. Some of their people were imprisoned and branded as the bad guys when they retaliated.
They know nothing about the modern laws of the urban society and are pressured to take deals that would only benefit the other party. Thankfully, her father was a firm man and kept refusing them every time. But it won’t be long until they use every influence they have to chase them out of their home.
Elu is upset by these people and how they seem to be driven by their greed. It doesn’t help that they would disrupt the environment with their logging and illegal dumping.
Unlike city folk, life in her village was simple yet satisfying. They take what they need from the forest while also respecting the cycle of life. They don’t hunt out of vanity or pride. The males usually do the hunting but there have been women who are capable enough to hunt alongside them.
Due to Elu’s elder brother being born with weak body, she has taken the task of hunting for food and foraging. She has been taught knowledge on how to traverse the land and recognize edible and non-edible plants from her father.
Childhood Memories
Elu has a fond memory of her father protecting her from a bison that wandered too close, her father struggled but he overpowered the animal and sent it away from their borders. His tall stature and rough features may have come off as intimidating to others but to Elu he was her hero.
She wanted to be like him so she does everything she can to make him proud. Even courageously taking the chance to leave home to attend DCA in order to help their village.
There was an unpleasant memory where she was told to stay in the house by her father but she got curious and peeked to see these formally dressed businessmen. Whatever they said made her father mad, he eventually sent them away.
But what happened after that was scarred into her memory, a couple of houses in her village were suddenly set ablaze, her brother nearly losing his life when he was trapped in the rubble.
She smelled the source of the fire when the businessmen returned, they smelled like gasoline, when she cried out that they were the culprits. They mocked her by asking if they even have any solid evidence as well as a lawyer, implying that her village wouldn’t win because they have the money and power to make it their victory.
Elu’s rage from what the businessmen said made her determined to focus for the benefit of her village but this in turn made her closed off to outsiders. Afraid they would be like the businessmen, lying through their teeth.
Like Jinlong, she has trouble adjusting to the school life due to the culture shock. So, she often keeps to herself while occasionally asking the professors for advice when Elu feels like there was no other option. Which is the reason why she struggled a lot at first.
Not to mention, she doesn’t understand the concept of idol concerts and what the purpose of this was. She isn’t familiar with the pop songs or rock, she was more of a traditionalist but she felt like not many people would be interested in that.
She was at a loss for what she was doing and if she was even trying hard enough. Until Perrine approached her and made Elu comfortable enough to finally figure out how to get used to the school environment and subjects enough to guarantee her that she won’t need to drop out of school.
Putting her inventing skills to use, she does a lot of favors in exchange for what she needs, be it some notes or tutoring. In time, she got better and has gained a reputation for herself in school. Elu thinks that it’s only a small group but in reality she helped a lot of people and they admire her a lot.
Her grades are fairly decent but it was clear that she started to improve the more she managed to understand the foreign subjects. Not among the top students but still high around the B grade.
An excellent archery shooter who can shoot with high accuracy even when on horseback. She is known to even shoot arrows through ring holes as small as a pinky finger.
School Relationships
Elu mostly kept to herself and her “strictly business” attitude made it difficult for idle chit chat. It wasn’t until she was forced to seek out the help of other students that she learns to communicate more.
Even though she was still a bit professional, she at least made progress. She’s learned to try out new things little by little and learn more about new topics.
Perrine was the first to approach her and wasn’t thrown off by Elu’s reluctance. She managed to win her over just a bit with food because who doesn’t? Plus, it would help the girl relax a little and feel welcome.
Rozeline and Elu started off as acquaintances who exchanged information of interest until they became close enough to consider each other as friends in a way. Elu figured she could gain knowledge she needed from Rozeline and in turn can hope to put her issues in the urban public.
Elu found Rozeline’s inventions innovative and would take notes from her, but she’s sure to also provide her own feedback on how to make it eco-friendly while still efficient.
Jinlong was an enigma to Elu, she has never seen other beastmen let alone something like a dragonkin like Jinlong. So, she is both intrigued but also intimidated. When she got to know Jinlong by chance, she began to admire her. Their goals were different but they both relate to feeling out of place, but unlike Elu who was hesitant at first, Jinlong pushed through and got to her position.
Skilli sees Elu as this lost bear cub who is figuring out the right path, but with so many things she doesn’t know, finding the right path seems impossible. Skilli’s form is from Elu’s desire to find the way to settle her problems that won’t end in turmoil.
Skilli shares her knowledge to Elu as well as guide her to opening her eyes to new things she won’t find from the comforts of her home. Skilli teaches her how to cherish those differences in order to understand the world better. The fairy is the wisest and the most patient out of all the dorm fairies.
Matelot
She is a woodpecker and acts as Elu’s scout, always on the lookout for anything of interest from the treetops. Matelot often marks using symbols that Elu recognizes, she even knows Morse code.
Matelot is very quiet and likes to hide her presence, often scaring people and other animals when she starts pecking away. An animal of very little words, she talks softly into people’s ears before leaving the conversation.
Tala
She is a gypsy vanner horse with a calm temperament. No matter what chaos goes on in the background she just goes, “Oh, the usual?” then does her own thing. But when it’s an emergency, she can go from calm to serious when needed.
Elu often rides on her back to drive away approaching danger. Tala is also powerful enough to push away fallen trees and break small boulders.
Her Unique Magic is called, “Arrow of the Wind”, she can control any direction her arrows to follow her targets with a special wind spell that only she can cast. She can make the wind faster and therefore have a greater impact on the arrows.
She can also use it as a shield, any projectiles within her line of sight can be slowed down or be redirected back to her opponent.
Elu’s magical capability is mostly nature based. Though these abilities are used to benefit her village more than mainly using them for combat, unless she needed to as a last resort. She seeks to use her skills in creating more contraptions that make life easier but not at the cost of the ecosystem.
Mato Sorrel
The chief of their village, he is a large bear beastman who is strong enough to carry about five pine logs. He is having trouble with the businessmen who try to trespass their land and try to trick him into signing a ‘beneficial’ contract, he refuses every time because he didn’t have the opportunity to gain outside knowledge. He isn’t narrow-minded to think that outsiders are greedy but he just hopes that his daughter will be able to handle herself in the academy and hopefully bring an end to the trespassers.
Alo Sorrel (23)
He has a weak body so he isn’t able to hunt or participate in activities involving strength, he chooses to help the village to advance economically while keeping the environment in mind. He often sends letters to Elu to inform her what has been happening in the village. He feels guilty that he can’t do much to prevent trespassers from walking all over their homeland due to his weak body.
The character’s name, “Elu” means “Full of Grace” and is a name of Native American origin while the last name, “Sorrel”, means “reddish brown”. The artist just thought this last name sounded better fitting for the character despite the meaning.
Elu’s dorm, Sagamore, was considered to be the equivalent of the Savanaclaw in NRC. Most of the students there are beastmen much like Savanaclaw. Though, Dragonstone, also shares this comparison but Sagamore has more beastmen than Dragonstone does.
She was originally going to be written with the same wise and calm personality like Pocahontas but then it was changed to be a tougher personality with the sense of adventure and navigation like John Smith. The calm personality went to her brother.
The artist chose to assign a bear to Elu as a nod to Brother Bear as well as to fit the characteristic of someone that looks cute but is actually fierce.
Elu was the hardest to design since the first design had too much details and took the longest to draw, not to mention drawing a mechanical bow was difficult for the artist since contraptions are tricky.
The artist is open to criticism and opinions regarding Native American culture since the internet isn’t always helpful.

Hi bb(you already know who it is) thanks for answering my asks and I'm glad you appreciate it cause I aprreciate you🫵more mwahh💓💓
I get what you mean and I'm glad that you didn't make hima be flawless like what is shown in the kpop industry, the industry tends to show it's idols being delicate, lovely, happy, healthy, but honestly none of us know what's going on inside their heads they might have mental problems, physical problems, and might also compare themselves to other idols whether they are their seniors or juniors, and I'm glad that mimi is more confident and happy in her body and mindset, as well as our mingi, I'll always love him dearly and cherish him for his braveness❤️🩹
And indeed society is stupid and if you are confident in yourself they call you arrogant and if you're not they say you're weak and sensitive there's literally no right option except to be who you want to be and act how you want to act❤️🩹
And nowww I have another question to askk🧐 have the other members ever faced problems because of hima and mingi's relationship? (like company problems, schedules and other related stuff)
Love you bb mwahh😼💓💓
Hey again sweets 🥰I do appreciate it, I get excited to look at my inbox every time I see a notification! It also makes me feel happy that someone appreciates my content so much that they have questions about it 🥹💕
Honestly Mingi's been my bias since I got into ATEEZ because even if he's not the most confident he has such a beautiful personality, and it's amazing that we can see him gaining more confidence in himself! He's also so genuine, he screams when he's scared, he doesn't force his laugh, he does things that make him embarrassed but he owns it, he's just a big boba eyed chick 🥺All the members are just so amazing over all, I went to their Toronto concert - first time seeing any concert ever - and just seeing them running around during songs like 'Dancing like butterfly wings' or 'Dreamy day' made me smile so much it hurt.
Allegedly there's no rule against dating at KQ so there have never been many problems with their specific relationship, their CEO - who they call their 'dad' - was actually very happy for them since he suspected it for a while, but unfortunately didn't get confirmation from his own babies until Coachella. Her relationship with Mingyu was the one that saw more pushback company wise since no one was truly fond of their youngest - who already had a lot of eyes on her every move - being involved with someone from a group that had an even larger audience.
Matz were the members most anxious about their relationship since them breaking up could mean a drastic change in the entire group's dynamic, and talked to both about how they felt in depth about one another to make sure that this was a good decision. They were also aware of the toxic nature of her previous situation-ship with Mingyu and were afraid that their maknae's heart was still very vulnerable to the point of entering a relationship without much thought towards her mental health, although they quickly saw that it was true love.
The members did face some problems when Mingi broke the news to Atiny, with false 'fans' getting angry at the fact that no one had told them or that they were even allowing this in the first place. Much like some people tend to focus on WooSan as a potential ship instead of the two's absolutely incredible vocals, body control, personality, etc, there were times where they used MinAri to overshadow the rest of the group, thinking about the speculations more than every member themselves.
Since no one knew they were together until a few months ago there were no changes in schedules or opportunities, although lately they have started appearing as a couple at events, such as; The Porsche The Art of Dreams 'Capsule Dreamscapes #01 Seoul' event and pushBUTTON 2025 Collection Show. Their own industry has recognized them as the 'IT' couple of fourth generation and brands have begun using this for their own publicity, so there have been somewhat of a rise in opportunities.
As usual, thank you so much for your question sweets, love you! 😘Mwahhh!💕💕

This is your wake up call to delete all those BTS games & rate them 1 star.
I'm an avid gamer, maybe not like I used to before the pandemic, but I do love video games and when they first brought up SuperStarBTS I was HOOKED and could not put it down. I would play it everywhere; at work, at home, waiting for food at a restaurant, at the cafe, before bed---ect.
When the BT21 games started I also got into them but after awhile deleted it (it was that or left my phone blow up 8D )
But as the games started changing and we transitioned to BTS World & BTS Universe Story where you could either play the BU storyline or create or bring your own fanfics to life... that's when I got tired of them and just didn't bother.
And then we began seeing the sketchy things they would slip into these games, thinking that we wouldn't notice:
The first time we raised a RED FLAG 🚩🚨 to this we were called childish, overreacting, hysterical, "stupid solos", victimizers, and all that ignorant bullshit the fandom has been brainwashed into saying & attacking anyone who goes against these narratives and microaggressions towards Jimin. (Meanwhile the fandom moved quickly to trend dumb #s because they didn't like that the gender of the player wasn't neutral LOL!!!)
And now we got this issue with In The Seom (and its not the first time by the way). Putting up MORE narratives to make Jimin seem like he's useless and weak without the group. Like he doesn't feel good enough as an artist, that he's "better off leaving the group". And then you got the company stans trying to AGAIN gaslight everyone into being okay with this because "Remember? They went through this period before debut"
I'm glad you remember that, Karen, but what you forget is that BTS In The Seom has NOTHING to do with with their lives pre or post debut. Its a different FANTASY storyline, because that's what BTS World was for. So what is the need to continuously trying to capitalized on past trauma while constantly shoving these narratives that are no longer relevant on to new players or fans?
Why don't they ever mention THE TRUTH? That Jimin never received vocal lessons unlike the other 3 members of VL by the company so he had to observe and learn BY HIMSELF? That he joined last and received the bare minimum of time to prepare before debuting with the group? Or that they MADE him expose his body despite being a minor while the others got "saved" from baring this responsibility to constantly work out, diet to maintain a certain image (also imposed by the company, since all of them were pushed into roles in the beginning).
You wanna know why? Because its better to make the member look like a failure than to admit the company is simply SHIT and all they cared about from the start is finding ways to make money off of them. And that includes their insecurities &/or past traumatic experiences going through the phases of being an idol in a highly judgemental society.
Because you expect people to believe that Jimin is still this NOW?
And not THIS ↓?
This wasn't even his concert and he still ATE ↓

Saga: Epilogue - 4 [END]
Writer: Akira
Season: Winter
Characters: Seiya, Hokuto
Proofreading: moricchiichan (JP) & Peace (ENG)
Translation: kotofucius
Hokuto: I’ll become happy, Father. With the people I love — as just a single ordinary human.
[Read on my blog for the best viewing experience with Oi~ssu ♪]
Location: Reverse Live Stage
Seiya: Hocchan.
It seems you're finally done processing your calculations.
Hokuto: …….
Seiya: I know what you’re thinking; I’m your father, after all. That’s why… I have a piece of advice for you: Don’t stop calculating there.
Hokuto: …?
Seiya: As you have guessed… Well, I've taken victory this time. But the world hasn’t ended, nor have we died.
Life goes on. And you must continue to think ahead for as long as you live, just as I do.
Because I am a boring adult, you see. I can’t afford to be burnt out just for a momentary flicker of youth.
You can’t allow yourself to get fixated only on the outcome of the fight in front of you and cease thinking, either.
Hokuto: …What do you mean by that?
Tell me, Father. As much as it pains me to admit it, I don’t measure up to you yet. I can’t calculate like you do, so the only choice I have is to ask for your guidance.
Seiya: Of course. No, perhaps… Asking for guidance and giving an answer in response, or bestowing advice is the natural interaction between parent and child.
So you have absolutely no reason to feel unworthy of it.
If anything, I’m relieved. It appears I’ve managed to save face as a father…
One day, you’ll overcome me completely, that much is sure; but it would’ve been very pathetic nonetheless to have my son knock me out at the first punch.
That aside — as you can see, Rain-bows is coming out on top for this third song.
This match will end with two wins and one loss for you, making you the victor. As it was a close match, our total points will take a plunge.
Then what does that make the result? We will still be above you in the total of points, so you won’t be able to turn the tables on us.
Reverse Live will be won by Lilith.
You’ll be the close second, with there being barely any gap between our total points.
Anyone will judge it as a close battle on the whole.
Hokuto: …You’re planning to share the spotlight with Rain-bows by making us the victor in the direct confrontation, is it? You’re taking pity on us — that’s so aggravating.
Seiya: Fufu. It isn’t due to pity, though. We put our all into this match.
Your winning this match is entirely due to your competence.
Just the fact that you had a close battle with Hidaka Seiya will be enough to make your value skyrocket. It’ll be beneficial for your future activities as idols.
Account for everything, even for your distant future. If you can build up a track record and amass more evaluations of this kind, you will reach me someday.
However, this Reverse Live was arranged partly to recover CosPro from its reputation crisis. It’s unpardonable for us to lose in the end.
So you’ll have to excuse us, but we’re taking the trophy.
But you remember what I said, don't you? I don’t wish for one party to keep winning by a huge margin.
Everyone holding hands and crossing the finish line together may be a pipe dream… Yet a society with too extreme disparities only brings about riots and despotism.
If it comes to that, we may end up reversing the progress of time to those days of absolute monarchy.
The future of the idol industry should be one of friendly rivalry, where you elevate one another to greater heights — a wonderful, brand new world such as that.
It seems to be one they’re working toward, anyway; in CosPro, Ibara-kun, and in Yumenosaki, Eichi-kun.
Seiya: We mustn’t create a society where the privileged few monopolize all the profits and trample on their everyone else.
Far too much bitterness had built up throughout the application of the Special Student system, causing a great explosion…
Such as the tragedy that transpired in SS, and you’ll learn the same lesson by tracing the footprints Jin-kun left behind as the title of Super Idol pushed him to the brink.
Not to mention the events that led the greatest idol in history, “Akehoshi-kun,” to become a star in the sky…
Those were all the result of making someone bear a weight too heavy for the human vessel.
I believe we’re all meant for a life suited to our form, as a single human.
Modern society has no needs for gods and kings. I am making a contribution to aid in shaping this vision that our youths speak so passionately of.
That is my duty and choice, as someone who has lasted to this day by pure luck.
Let us descend from our thrones and liberate the treasures of our land; return the wealth we have been monopolizing to the people, as deserved.
Seiya: Though our magnates have yet to catch up to progress, dreaming to restore the old kings to power through this Project-Saga…
I’ve meant to conclude things in this way all along.
We Mentors will pass all our teachings to you, along with the limelight.
And we will go out with a bang just like this, as we retreat to the backstage, aiding you all from the shadows thereon after.
It’s in the nature of mentors to support their disciples, of adults to support children… That is the purpose of the tale that is Project Saga.
At the very least, I am committed to portraying it as such.
The heroes’ saga ends here; from now on, your lives in this reality begin.
That concludes my commentary. …By the way, the show is still going on, so you’d do well to sing instead of looking so grief-stricken.
I have great expectations for you, so show me everything you've got, alright?
Us winning this match will upset my calculation, you see. Not only do I find that undesirable, it’ll be so lamentable to know my son was so inadequate.
Hokuto: …Don’t look down on me. I’ve suffered through many defeats and tragedies, and I haven’t broken down from a single one.
I’ve inherited your endurance in not faltering at the face of any adversary, Father. No trial is hard enough to break me… No, I’m never losing to anyone, ever again.
Hokuto: Sure, Lilith will win Reverse Live, but after that…
I’m never losing to you again. Or, even if I lose the battle, I won’t lose hope. When I fall, I’ll lift my face and walk again.
I’ll become happy, Father. With the people I love — as just a single ordinary human.
Seiya: …I see. I’m so glad to hear that… Truly, I am.
Then let us sing together. With the both of us on stage, most of our audiences here are expecting the ensemble that us father and son play.
Let us answer their expectations. That’s what idols do.
Hokuto: I know. …I’ve become an idol too, Father. Just like you.

With the Energon Universe in full swing and actually beginning to sell people on GI Joe’s concept (replacing Murican soldiers and evil terrorists with a military based spy thriller and an ancient conspiracy of snake people respectively), some people are inevitably wondering what other franchises Hasbro will try to ask Kirkman to put into the universe. So far he has been adamant that Skybound will only publish four Energon Universe comics at a time, but given that the Joe miniseries will eventually lead into a single ongoing, as well as Hasbro presumably wanting to sell more properties for toys and/or future media, it’s worth looking at what they still have the rights to and the odds of them showing up.
MASK - The trademark was just renewed today, and is probably the most likely thing to appear. Funny thing is Hasbro aren’t even the original owners, having acquired MASK and the GoBots in the purchase of Tonka. For years there have been attempts to merge MASK into GI Joe as one of its many, many sub-divisions (alongside such real toy lines as Battle Corps, Mega Marines, Ninja Force, Eco-Warriors, and Star Brigade) and the ground-up approach of the Energon Universe makes it really easy. Humanity studies Cybertronians, and soon an elite force has vehicles that turn into other vehicles, with pilots that use the trademark masks. Best part is as a Joe subdivision, they won’t even need a new book.
Action Man - Another “we could throw it into Joe if need be” license, although one that may seem far more redundant. Funny enough, Action Man started as the European brand of GI Joe’s original toys (because they wanted a less American centric name in foreign markets) but unlike MASK, they add little to Joe as it exists. Not a likely addition.
Visionaries - Here’s one that likely won’t be seen unless they cameo in Void Rivals. Visionaries was re-introduced in IDW’s continuity in a crossover with Transformers that was widely reviled by just about everybody and failed to spark interest in a brand revival. While the Void Rivals crew might end up near Prysmos, it’s highly unlikely.
Jem - The red headed stepchild of Hasbro’s brands, Jem hasn’t been touched since a very poorly selling IDW comic series that was divisive to put it mildly and a movie that made made $2 million on a $5 million production budget and was widely reviled. While there is some merit to the idea of having a comic looking at society while both the Transformers are on Earth and Joe is fighting Cobra from a civilian perspective, Hasbro will probably be loathe to use Jem again. The ONLY way I can see Jem appearing is in a one-shot akin to Neon Genesis IMPACTS, an Evangelion one shot made for the Japan Animators Expo about an idol group making a go at a career during the events of Evangelion that ends with them all being killed during an episode of the series proper. If Hasbro signs off on a one shot comic about Jem and the Holograms getting killed by Decepticons, it’s probably them washing their hands of the franchise.
As for other franchises? Hasbro no longer has the rights to the Inhumanoids, ROM the Spaceknight is back at Marvel where they’re reprinting his iconic 80s run, and My Little Pony is still at IDW. So unless I missed something, those are all the major Hasbro franchises that could end up being put into the Energon Universe unless Hasbro wants to try scraping their board games for ideas.

Ibara Saegusa - Private Room Chapter 6
Writer: Nishioka Maiko
Season: Autumn
(Location: Starmony Dorms Courtyard (Evening))
Aira: We did it! It’s been safely completed~♪
You’re amazing, Saegusa-senpai! It looks even cuter and nicer than before it was broken, it even looks brand new! Takamine-senpai would be so happy with this.
Ibara: My my, it’s fortunate that we somehow managed to do it with materials we could find in the dorm.
Aira: All things considered, Saegusa-senpai is so handy. You made this in no time, too. Do you like DIY?
Ibara: It’s not like I like DIY in particular. I spent a long period of time in a place with no entertainment or shops, so I just ended up being able to do it out of necessity.
Aira: Oh. Is that so, that sounds kind of awful…
Ibara: Come on, all we need to do is give it to Takamine-shi back in the dorm room. Let’s go back.
(Location: Starmony Dorm Room (Ibara, Mitsuru, Midori, Tsumugi's Room))
Midori: I’m back……
Mitsuru: I’m back~!
Aira: Ah, Takamine-senpai, Tenma-senpai. Welcome back—
Also…… Takamine-senpai, I’m sorry!
Midori: Eh. W-what? Getting apologised to when I just got back is too scary……!
Aira: The truth is, I borrowed Takamine-senpai’s stepping stool and broke it……
Midori: Stepping stool? The one with the mascot character on it? Why again?
Ibara: It seems that he used it since it was right next to him when he was trying to reach for the tea leaves.
Aira: That’s right. After that, Saegusa-senpai and I rebuilt it while preserving the parts that were left of the mascot character…… This is it.
Midori: Uwaaaaa……♪ It’s great! Even though it was so worn-out before, it looks spick and span! You’ve even painted cute colours over the parts that were peeling off!
Mitsuru: You’re both incredible~! It looks brand new!
Aira: But the fact that I borrowed without asking and broke it still stands, so I’m sorry……!
Midori: No, I really don’t mind that you broke it.
Rather, to think that it can be this pretty when it was so worn-out before. Shiratori-kun, Saegusa-senpai, thank you very much……♪
Mitsuru: Then, you two made this today?
Ibara: Yes. We were fixing it up till around dusk.
Mitsuru: That sounds hard~. You’ve had a hard day, haven't you, Ai-chan?
Aira: Mm…… That may seem like it was the case, but the truth is it really wasn’t.
Mitsuru: Eh?
Aira: Because this whole day today I was able to see a lot of Saegusa-senpai’s surprising sides! It was a beautiful sight for an idol otaku!
(Location: CosPro Conference Area)
(The next day)
Ibara: ………
…… Right. I’ve sent off replies for all the agenda that came in during my day off.
So, what next?
Ah, come to think of it, the prints sent around to be checked got back to me. I need to send a reply to the other party too.
Mm? My personal tablet is ringing. I guess that means it’s telling me about the stock prices changing again.
(…… I’m getting a sense of deja-vu. The last time I checked the market situation at a time like this, the stock price plummeted suddenly.)
Good grief…… Is it going to drop further? I’d really like for it to give me a break. Even a big loss would be considered good—
Hm? What on earth is this……? Since it’s the same situation as the other day, I thought the stock price would plummet again today. Rather, it’s suddenly rising.
(The price has almost returned to what it was before the sudden crash. At this rate, there is a possibility that the stock price will rise even more than before the sharp downward trend.
Furthermore, it looks like the other stocks I own are showing signs of upward movement across the board.)
I wonder what happened……It’s not as if a huge incident has occurred.
That reminds me……
(Flashback to Chapter 1)
Natsume: Maybe you could turn your luck around by reclaiming something familIAR.
(Back to present time)
Ibara: (Could it be because I fixed the stepping stool with Shiratori-shi……?)
………
Hah, that’s ridiculous. If fortune-telling can predict stock price fluctuations, then society will collapse.
It’s probably just that my luck has turned around lately.
Now then. I can focus my efforts on working wholeheartedly.
Even though there was an accident yesterday, contrary to my expectations, it ended up being a good break.
Seems like there’s going to be good progress with today’s work……♪

Alkakurei Large-Scaled Event Speculation
i don’t really enstars post publicly, but i was thinking about the upcoming large-scaled event for alkakurei recently, and i had some speculations about some of the overarching themes involved. these speculations mostly draw on things brought up in !!era main story and ss arc, though some other stories do come up.
admittedly, i haven’t been able to read ss finals or the majority of main story 1.5, but i’ve read all the alkakurei song event stories save both their climaxes (which i only read livetweets of) and nearly all the unit/tour event stories that are in engstars music, so i at least have an idea of the overall situation in es. if there’s something i got wrong though (main story is a tiny bit hazy to me, i’m trying to reread it for a deeper analysis of hiiro’s character development but it’s So Long), please let me know!
first off, it’s important to realize both alkaloid’s and crazy:b’s general positions in es as a whole. i think i saw a post a while back where someone was disappointed by alkaloid being less ‘protagonist-like’ than trickstar, as they didn’t really rebel in any major way against their situation or the capitalistic framework they were built on. however, they weren’t written to be that way. the group that resembles trickstar more, in terms of ideals, would actually be crazy:b.
this is mostly because of alkaloid’s position as the prototype for es’ mass produced idols. because of this status, alongside their newness, they rely very heavily on es’ benefits to succeed in the industry. es is happy to give that help, though, because their success is proof that idol mass-production is feasible and profitable.
but if alkaloid chooses to not follow their rules, and are seen to be dissenting against es (this is brought up in graduation) or fall out of favor with es’ higher-ups (as seen in playing cards), they’re in danger of being disbanded or punished in some way. (though phantom airship mentions that they’re one of the up-and-coming new units of es, compared to units from !era who have experience outside the system and have more established fanbases, they’re still in a more tenuous position.)
in contrast, crazy:b has always been a lot more rebellious. while they were also forced into making a unit and ‘attacking’ existing es units in order to deepen those units’ bonds and help bring their problems to light so they could fix them, rinne notably turned the tables on es and also pushed his own goal of showing the problems and effects of es’ system to the public so that they’d be more aware of the darker side of the idol industry. though they were branded as troublemakers by es and were set to be dismissed once they were done with their attacks, rinne’s criticism of the industry made him and crazy:b champions of those who had been destroyed by or otherwise pushed out of it, leading the public to show their support for them, and ryuseitai, knights, undead, and alkaloid’s help also let them stay as a unit, validating their existence to es.
how they were branded during the summer did affect their job opportunities and experience as well. because of their ‘troublemaker’ status, they weren’t sought out as much for jobs and instead had to look for ones (honey bee) or make ones (hot limit) that would accept them, making them generally more self-sufficient than alkaloid. this status allowed them to interact with more people outside of es’ influence, and get more in touch with those who shared their opinions on the industry, like beehive (night club). while i would say that cospro does support them, they aren’t as beholden to the company’s pressures as alkaloid is, since they don’t rely on it as much.
related to this, alkaloid and crazy:b’s members also have different personalities and different opinions on society and the idol industry. that’s a pretty obvious thing to say, but overall, while all of alkakurei are othered from society in some way (i could go on about this in a whole other analysis actually), alkaloid has been written to be more optimistic about society and the industry, and none of them are the type to rebel against either of those systems. aira even asked rinne “why do you have to go against the system? what’s so bad about it?”. as befitting their theme as ‘soldiers’, alkaloid is the obedient unit that follows orders. while they do sometimes twist what’s asked of them to their own benefit (they participated in mdm as asked by es, but also used their stage to keep crazy:b together despite es’ plans to discard them), in the end, they still follow the orders given to them.
crazy:b, however, are all a bit more disillusioned by society and the idol industry. rinne in main story mentions that he’s been called ‘wrong’ by society all his life, himeru is intensely aware of the stigma against his and kaname’s last name (from obbligato. also in night club, he expresses anger at society suppressing members of minority groups), similar to niki, who still is worried about joining the culinary world due to the rumors associated with his last name (hot limit), and finally, kohaku knows the darker side of society and the idol industry through his upbringing and through double face. they’re less idealistic, and more willing to defy what is considered ‘acceptable’ and speak out against it. (also, can i just say it’s delicious that the amagis are still following the footsteps of their past selves, with hiiro taking orders and rinne breaking them? ough, i have so many feelings.)
so why am i bringing this up? well, there’s been a lot of stories recently criticizing es and their monopoly on the idol industry. like the ss arc— the first story that came to mind was submarine, where the local idols begged ryuseitai to help them against the other es units who had systematically crushed them, as their fans had been poached to go to other areas where ss was taking place, and they were unused to the battle format that was instituted in okinawa (i’ve made jokes about the fact that there are so many stories that refer to es as “the big wave”, or as “an uncaring monster” that crushes everything in its path without remorse or malice. i feel like i run into them like every two big stories and i’m like “ah, it’s this again” lol).
notably in the main story, the fact that alkaloid is the prototype for mass-produced idols isn’t actually addressed that strongly. i recall that alkaloid learned of it, felt bad about it, but then had to push it away in order to help crazy:b since they couldn’t really do anything about it. similarly, while crazy:b’s rebellion against the system revealed some of the problems with es, es still has been moving forward in such a way that many units have begun to disagree with, but that they seemingly cannot change.
this leads me to my speculation that in the alkakurei large-scale event, alkaloid and crazy:b will be set against each other in the midst of es’ industrialization and mass-production of new idols, with crazy:b rebelling against this development while alkaloid supports it as they don’t have the power to go against it.
while this might sound extremely similar to the graduation event, i’m still leaning toward the idea of the two teams being set against each other, notably because for all other large-scale stories, all the characters who are 5 star cards in it are somehow against each other in some ways. graduation had subaru, supporting es, on one side and hokuto, against es, on the other, the ss finals cards were the members of the teams leading the red team and the white team, and altered/origin had eichi and rei, a member of ex-fine and a member of the five eccentrics. i don’t believe it will be like certain regular tours, where they aren’t actually in conflict.
frankly, if the large-scale event isn't actually related to some of the units disagreeing with es, i have no idea what it'll be about. because even anzu is becoming more independent from es, which is a bad sign since she’s important to all the units to at least some degree, and she's been the eye of the storm for great change.
of course, akira could always be silly goofy and make everything i just speculated wrong, but there are definitely some interesting plot threads still somewhat loose for alkaloid and crazy:b, so i’m really hoping that they’re picked up in this upcoming event. i just feel like one of these days, there will have to be a story confronting es and somehow changing their direction, even just a little bit, because a lot of units have expressed disagreement with the way es is moving.
admittedly, i cannot say who will be the 5 stars for this event— out of all of the characters, i’ve heard that tatsumi and niki both haven’t had as much of their childhood backstories/their reasons to be an idol explored quite as deeply as some of the other members of alkakurei, but i personally expect the 5 stars to be hiiro and rinne since they’re the leaders of their units. also, i really like the idea that they’ve come full circle from mdm, with rinne now helping hiiro figure out a new way to move forward and achieve a dream that hiiro chose, for once.
but who knows! we’ll have to wait for april to see. needless to say, i’m excited for what’s coming next, even if it turns out to be different from what i expect.
#ensemble stars#enstars#alkaloid#crazy:b#enstars analysis#ag-reads#i intended this to be short but then it became 1.6k words and took like 3 hours. i'm afraid#this was adapted from a bunch of discord analysis posts i made. some of the points i made i actually wanted to make separate#analysis posts for but it'd require me to pull so many screenshots from main story and i don't have that sort of energy right now

I hope many kpop stans know wonyoung story since many them think she focus about her visuel..they dont think her Dreams job is lawyer and annoncer but never kpop idol at all.

If you haven't spent the past year living under a rock, then you've probably heard of Boys Planet. And if you're gay or an Mnet stan, you've probably seen it. And if you've seen it, then you've heard of a certain Hwang Jaesun.
For the uninitiated (feel free to skip this paragraph if you saw the show), Jaesun competed as an independent trainee specializing in dance. He's a former Cube Entertainment trainee, presumably having brushed shoulders with Sung Hanbin and Seok Matthew before BP. After the show, he signed with Zenith Entertainment (best known for so-called cultural representatives Fable, but that's a different story) and debuted almost immediately.
Now, onto the point. Jaesun's second mini album released last week. It's a bastardized, commercialized, watered down excuse of a punk/rock album. The pop-punk-ification of kpop was a mistake. We need to put back whatever Olivia Rodrigo released into society. As if it couldn't get worse, Jaesun's album was supported by an NME cover and the worst interview I've ever read. Every sentence was physically painful, like the author had shown up to my doorstep to stab me with her pen.
In the interview, it becomes very, very obvious that Jaesun is playing at being an idol. He speaks about his veteran actor parents in a way Lam (the author of the piece) refers to as "refreshing." It is not. She refuses to call it what it is. Nepotism. Jaesun is an idol because his parents pay for it. (That's also Zenith Entertainment's biggest issue, but again, a different story.) What happened to sheer grit and determination? Plain old good luck? Working a part-time job to finance your dream? It’s unlikely Jaesun has ever worked a day in his life.
Every word out of his mouth about his music reeks of inauthenticity. He sounds robotic and spoon-fed. He names Bring Me the Horizon, My Chemical Romance, and Paramore as his favorite bands. Anyone who’s listened to music in the past year could name the three of them. Jaesun never offers anything more concrete. There’s no “That’s the Spirit made me fall in love with rock” or “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge inspired me to make music” or “Brand New Eyes was the first CD I bought.” Why? Because I doubt Jaesun could name any of these albums on his own.
In an era of kpop that puts so much emphasis on artistry and self-production, it’s shocking to see him succeed when so many other talented musicians remain unheard of. For all his faults, Jaesun is surprisingly open about his reliance on his producer, who wrote both of his albums. Lam describes his debut mini as "distinctly kpop" which could mean any number of things. It's average pop? Every song is three at once? The boundaries of music as we know it are being expanded upon? If it’s anything like his second album, it’s the first category (but I haven’t heard it, so you’ll have to let me know).
One thing remains obvious: Hwang Jaesun has no idea what he’s doing.
[+71, -3] not olivia and fable catching strays 💀💀
[+51, -8] if you’ve listened to his new album you’d know jaesun has writing credits. wtf are you talking about.
[+49, -3] there are other nepo babies in kpop. why is he the problem?
[+15, -10] you're not missing anything... this new album is better than his debut
[+14, -26] I agree. K-pop is so oversaturated recently. Anyone with a lot of money or the slightest interest is an idol nowadays. We still need plumbers and electricians.

Jax - Dear Joe,
A couple of years ago, there was an awful trend of random artists posting their music on TikTok and begging the question as to whether or not they made the “song of the summer.” It was almost always really bland, dated, and cringy pop that utilized Gen Z slang in the worst ways, or they took nursery rhymes and tried to make them into “edgy” songs. I hated those songs, and a lot of other people did, too, but one of those kinds of artists released their debut album this past Friday. Jax, real name Jaclyn Miskanic, was a contestant on American Idol about a decade ago, but she randomly started gaining traction for the song “Victoria’s Secret,” basically a track that subverted the idea of the women’s brand that men actually own it and control what beauty standards are in society. It’s a bad song, despite the intentions being good, whether it’s for the cringy use of slang, her vocals not being that good, or the song being forgettable pop garbage.
I had no idea she was releasing a new album, entitled Dear Joe, and when I say this album is absolutely awful, I mean it. I had the itch to listen to this the other day, just to see what it was all about, so I finally went ahead and did just that, only to find out firsthand that this album is one of the worst I’ve heard all year. I had a feeling it was going to be bad when that song is here, as well as an interlude entitled “Hawk Tuah,” especially when that just went viral like a week ago. That is a good idea of what this album entails, though — cringy Gen Z slang used heavily with boring pop songs sung by someone who doesn’t have any range, and despite the subject matter not being half bad most of the time, the execution is awful. What she sings about are sometimes poignant and important topics, namely being groomed by an older man who was a teacher, or a small interlude about how hypocritical Christians can be, but it’s done so painfully bad.
There’s an interlude that’s called “neurospicy,” and she says everyone is just “a little neurospicy.” It hurts to type that, but here we are. It’s so offensive to people who are actually neurodivergent, but the album has a lot of those really pointless interludes. It just feels way too long for no reason, especially when a lot of the actual songs sound the same. It’s all mistempo pop music that sounds AI-created sometimes. I don’t hate this album to the same degree as the new Aaron Lewis or Nothing More albums, but it’s close. I can’t even recommend this to anyone, because who is this for? Why would anyone want to listen to this? This is some of the most generic pop music I’ve ever heard, there’s no way anyone actually listens to this, right? I guess if you want to torture yourself, you can give this a listen, but I can’t imagine you’d want to.
