based on what fukuchi said regarding the one order, fyodor can't use it. the one order has already been configured to fukuzawa. it's not clear that fyodor knows this (although it's explicit that fukuchi didn't trust fyodor).

it's also telling that fukuchi comments that fyodor wouldn't be able to interfere. he doesn't clarify with what fyodor wouldn't be able to interfere. (such as, for example, fukuchi reconfiguring the one order against fyodor's conception of the plan.) it's also relevant that fukuchi says "no one else could have thought it up," indicating he understands, to some degree, fyodor's genre of strategic reasoning. surely, then, he's picked up on fyodor's overt blind spots regarding others' capacity for trust and subversion based on trust.

that fyodor can't command the one order renders fyodor's threat moot, although nevertheless informative.

because if the one order coordinates all of the users' subordinates, then anyone subordinate to fukuzawa could be commanded by fukuzawa. bram, shortly before fyodor took him, pledged himself as a knight to aya, even forsaking his prior title to subordinate himself to her.

his subordination to aya is so deeply ingrained that fyodor even still calls her princess and affirms that the vow remains.

in other words, all aya has to do to give fukuzawa control over the vampires. is subordinate herself to fukuzawa. vow with her whole, fierce heart that she is his to command. or, fukuzawa can reconfigure the one order to respond to her voice; if fukuchi was able to transition the authority he was granted to use it to fukuzawa, then fukuzawa should similarly be able to do the same.

tl:dr, the one order is useless in fyodor's hands, and, together, fukuchi's love for and trust in fukuzawa and bram's love for and trust in aya are a chekov's gun.

Well firstly i drew this around 4am so my brain was working only on couple of pickles and coffee so i literally didn’t know what i was doing xd and i just came back from watching nosferatu so it somehow mixed with my stobotnik obsession lol.

And by that i haven’t even properly thought about it but now that you asked i have few points that i will share!

Firstly Stone doesnt know that Robotnik is a vampire, and he works as his assistant taking care of his castle during the day. He doesn’t suspect anything just that his boss is extremely busy and that’s why he never sees him during the day lol.

And during the night Rob drinks Stones blood to feed ofc.

Thats all i have for now like it isn’t much but basically Stone starts to slowly discover that his boss might not be so normal, and somehow Stone starts to grow on Robotnik.

I also took inspiration from the book Dracula by Bram Stoker when the main character slowly discovers what Count Dracula is.

I just really loved the idea of Stone living inside Robotniks huge fucking castle and never seeing Robotnik so its kinda melancholic and depressing that hes basically by himself doing all the work Rob orders him to do. And Robotnik watches him from the shadows never revealing himself to him, and Stones starts to get paranoid that someone is watching him and he gets scared of the shadows etc.

I will do more sketches and write down some more points once i have more time teheh but glad people are insterested!!

The main issue i have is i don’t know if i want to my make my own story or adapt it from the sonic movies or from the original Dracula book, or the new Nosferatu movie AAAAAAAAAA i don’t know.

DAZAI!

quick on his feet. He reads body language pretty well. he knows what to expect. His disadvantage is that he tends to project his own expectations onto others and this clouds his judgement. He is "intelligent" in the way that he has a great capacity to improvise in tricky situations. He doesn't know everything he just always makes sure to have a plan B C D E F and G. Thats it

RANPO!

he knows all the facts about any given situation. His biggest disadvantages are that his judgement is shoddy at best and he doesn't always know what to do with the information he has. He is used to disregarding information for the sake of peace (like dazai is a killer, or kyoka is a killer or yosano tortured thousands) but that often means he ends up too close to the wrong people. He forgives EVERYONE because for as much as he sees the bad in a person he sees the good. He will always plan for the opposing team to do the right thing even when it isnt likely. He is unreliable and inconsistent. The good thing about him is that as soon as he realizes his mistake he never makes it again.

POE!

JUSTTT as smart as Ranpo. He can GATHER as much information as Ranpo but it takes more effort. He has a lot of resources and technical know how. He knows technology, he knows politics, international law and most importantly people (arguably more than Dazai). His biggest advantage is that he knows exactly how to pressure people into doing what he wants. His mysteries are tailormade to each person and created so that people can only escape when they realize what he wants them to. It is becuase of this that he saw society as a farce. He knows reality and truth are malleable concepts. That's why Ranpo and him are such a good team. Ranpo can see everything immidiately and Poe knows what to do with it immidiately.

Louisa!!!

She can slow down time when she's focused THAT'S her ability. She is capable of thinking of every possibility and coming up with dependable statistics. She's smarter than Dazai but less of an asset because her analysis relies on what she is aware of (preexisting knowledge). In the world of BSD there is ALWAYS something no one is aware of. She isn't as capable of recovering as quickly from a miscalculation so she really only has one shot.

Chuuya!!!

He doesnt need to use his intelligence most of the time because he can pretty much brute force his way out of most things. His intellegence relies on instinct. He has GREAT instincts. He knows when a situation has gone sour. Of course he doesnt usually verbalize it because with Dazai he doesn't need to and when he's alone why would he announce it to an enemy. He knows when he's safe and when he isn't. His biggest disadvantage is that he doesn't always listen to those instincts. In terms of priorities he almost always puts himself last and that leads to a lot of problems.

NIKOLAI!!!

Nikolai is similar to Chuuya except a bit more extreme because no one's life is his priority. His motivations are unclear and he always goes for the most imoral option. He isn't concerned with a specific desired outcome it is the inconsistency of his own actions that drive him.

FYODOR!!!

Kinda like Poe, in that he knows how to work people, but to a lesser extent and a little like the chameleon that Dazai can be but to a greater extent. He knows what a person wants more than anything and he promises that to them.

His biggest advantage is that he is smart enough to ally himself with people who have nothing else to live for. Sigma, Nikolai, Bram (before Aya), Nathaniel and Fukuchi are all outsiders. They are alone but desperately want to feel like they belong. Fyodors biggest disadvantage is that if those people find belonging elsewhere then his influence on them shatters. He seems to be aware of that? Idk it's too soon to tell.

Mori!!!

He isn't crazy smart. He's just sadistic and cruel. He picks easy targets (children) and slowly takes away their agency. He undoes them until they have nothing to live for and they then become perfectly obedient adults. His biggest disadvantage is that he relies on the chain of abuse and that isn't sustainable as a dynamic for power. Chuuya and Akutagawa have no one above them to preassure them to listen to orders now that Dazai is gone. Also the extreme amounts of abuse he relies on is impossible to ditch out to EVERYONE. That's why he relied on the chain of abuse but that's failing. Mori isn't smart. He's a coward. He takes the shortest path no matter the resistance.

FUKUCHI!!

isn't smart either. He is just THE BEST chameleon. He hid in plain sight. He knows war and war tactics. He's a great spy and facilitating a strong bond with the target is a great spy strategy.

They are not all the same stop conflating their perspectives as "knows everything". It leads to a lot of misunderstandings and a lot of misinformation. DAZAI IS NOT RANPO! He doesnt know everything. He's just really good at pretending he does.

So now that anime watchers are caught up with the MADNESS, I decided to share the list i made back in august after chapter 109 came out, to try and hang onto sanity...

(spoilers if you are not up to date with either the Bungou Stray Dogs manga or the anime)

REASONS WHY I BELIEVE DAZAI IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT:

He still has plots that are unresolved, mostly his relationship with Akutagawa.

If/when he were to die, I honestly dont think it would be by losing to Dostoyevsky, it doesn't seem like the right ending for him. Similarly, i don't think Chuuya is the one destined to kill him; ever since meeting each other, Chuuya has only ever given him reasons to stay alive.

I don't think he would die away from the Detective Agency, after being apart from them for so long. They are important to him and for him, and i think he has still a role to play in Atsushi's story as well.

He apparently "died" without thinking of Oda? Suss as fuck.

Dazai never planned for Sigma to join him or to even be at the prison, he couldn't have predicted that. And apparently he never planned for Chuuya to be there either, while Dostoyevsky had previously made plans to have Chuuya brought there to help him. SO, what was Dazai's original plan for escaping and killing Fyodor? Just the time stopping ability user?? It seems unrealistic to me that he and Ango went so far into plotting this from the beginning, and Dazai didnt have other plans in case of unforseen emergencies. Dazai doesnt have a fighting ability, so reasonably there has to be another plan or ally to help him escape and kill Fyodor.

They most likely need Dazai to turn back the vampires, we have no idea if Bram can turn them back into humans himself even if he gets control over them back.

The missing bullet hole on the wall behind Dazai's head (this was very evident in the manga, but it can be seen in the anime too if you look carefully), plus the fact that he could still talk after being shot in the head from 0 cm away (this was cut from the anime, but in the manga he wispers "finally" before gently closing his eyes), seem to indicate he was not really shot in the head.

If he IS dead, Chuuya can turn him into a vampire and reanimate him - this trick has a precedent in one of the light novels, so we know for certain that Dazai can be reanimated by an ability if he is dead, as long as it happens very quickly after he dies.

If Dazai was really dying, I think his last words to Chuuya would have been more genuine and serious.

Dazai still has to prove that his bond with Chuuya isn't as shallow as Fyodor taunted him for. Cmon guys.... Are we letting Dostoyevsky get away with that one?? I don't think so. Dazai's biggest advantage over him has always been the power of friendship!

thinking about how fyodor respects the concept of byakko but not byakko herself as he only refers to her as “the tiger” and not by her name. he thinks so highly of byakko but doesnt even refer to her by her name.

‘he might not know her name’ well its sure implied fyodor knew byakko before, especially when he said ‘to believe the tiger rests in such a-‘ and the fact that hes basically immortal

this might sound far stretched and im tired rn but what if a previous person who had byakko inside them ‘killed’ fyodor and fyodor spent that lifespan with byakko or like not entirely byakko but a sort of presence to get the idea of how powerful she is (like how fyodor still has bram’s will of protecting aya)

NEW BSD CHAPTER LETS GO (spoilers ahead)

First, this image. My Shin Soukoku loving brain immediately went to the thought that maybe aku was saying "who the hell are you" in response to Atsushi saying he can't win against Amenogozen, basically as a "of course I can." But obviously he would just say that if he meant that. So it seems he might have no memory of anything besides his current mission. We also see that he has Brams vampire powers or at least some of them. He holds his own very well, so he has a chance for a while until reinforcement shows up.

Second, THE PURE SORROW ON HIS FACE. I had predicted this would happen and that Atsushi would accept, but I honestly didn't expect it to happen so quickly. He has so much time to think but didn't even hesitate. Which probably wasn't the greatest decision considering that fyodor never promised to stop his attacks, keep his friends alive, ect, but yknow. he cares. Especially since Atsushi is a very self preserving character, someone who would do anything to survive when he needs it most (note: only when he needs it most. atsushi was opposed to stealing at first but decides to do it when he knows he'll die otherwise. Kinda like how the tigers ability works. This doesn't make Atsushi bad, it makes him a very determined human.)

And finally... What the hell is the bookmark? We know Atsushi doesn't even really have to be alive for that since Fyodor says his head will suffice. So what does he do? My current theory is that he keeps the timeline in tact, basically a reminder of what should be happening. Or maybe he serves as a beacon of hope, maybe he can bring things forward or back in time, who knows.

Right now our main concern is getting rid of Amenogozen. How?... I don't know. The dream team I've come up with is Yosano, Ranpo, Dazai, Chuuya, Atsushi, and Akutagawa. Other people would be very helpful but these could do it alone. But we don't even know where Yosano and Ranpo are and we don't know if Dazai and Chuuya have left yet or if they've brought Sigma who might have more information and maybe Akutagawa doesnt even remember Atsushi or anyone!

Especially since Amenogozen is a 4d being. And fyodor is probably the only person who knows how to stop them. If he even knows that.

a note on the vol 25 cover \\ mini analysis

so, regarding fyodor!

as we can see, fyodor is holding a black chess piece. it doesnt look like a rook, a knight, or a pawn. although it may be a queen, for the sake of this theory im going to assume that it is the king piece. (also, im going to ignore like every little bit of actual chess rules for this adladlksjrl)

the volume will cover the chapters 110-112 (i think), so its likely that this is only 'foreshadowing' (of course, what im going to cover here is the most recent events, in chaps 114-114.5 as its already happened its just not in this volume)

now then, from the vol 16 colored spread, we can see that fyodor is the black side.

so, it doesnt mean that hes put dazai in checkmate.

however, lets talk about what the king does in chess.

has very little mobility, is what decides the game, and is on the same 'side ' as fyodor, being the black king. who fits the bill?

thats right, its bram!

so, my little interpretation is that fyodor holding the black king in this cover is symbolic of how he will overtake brams body very soon after the events of this volume.

now then, moving on to dazai!!

so, this cover very reasonably gave almost everybody a big scare ;w; but i dont think it means that dazai will die. in the first few chapters included in this volume, dazai is presumed to be dead right after chuuya shot him. so i rlly think theyre just playing us but who knows,,,

anyway, red camellias which are shown on dazai here can mean deep desire/love, noble death, and are known to be incredibly rare (I THINK). i feel like its mostly about dazais personality (as his view of the world is 'rare' and he sorta maybe 'died' a noble death in 109 but thats debatable) and the fact that chuuya was the one to shoot him (as skk have been associated with the flowers before [if that official art was actually real idk anymore])

another interesting thing is that dazai is in his ada outfit here, while in his appearance in vol 22's cover he was in his prison outfit. either its foreshadowing for a symbolic death of agency dazai or just meant to signal the end of the prison arc as we enter a new era of the story.

the presence of the swords and the complete lack of empty space in the volume cover displays how the tripolar singularity which occurs very soon after this completely shifts the world i think !

moving on, we can see atsushis human foot and his tiger foot (and his belt) in this volume cover but not his face. all the other previous covers show more of him, and assumedly this is showing how the focus is shifting away from him as a person.

now, fukuzawa and fukuchi.

fukuzawa has a white backdrop while fukuchi has black, this could symbolize fukuchi who is dead while fukuzawa isnt but i see it more as their two somewhat extreme views on justice and how it polarizes them. they are back to back, their hair almost melding into one singular person showing that they both want to do whats right, but their associated colors and the swords show their differences.

fyodor sits between them, almost separating them, and showing how little we still understand about his true moral standing. (also, fyodor radiates black that is actually even darker than fukuchi's showing how, as karma said in his debut chapter, fyodor transcends evil.)

the red speckles may symbolize the tripolar singularity, and the cracks on the bottom of fukuchi and fukuzawa's sections could show the singularity's shattering of concrete morality and that which is real/is not.

atsushi and dazai are both in the area with the water, which may also symbolize how the singularity will flush out the past and bring fyodor's idea of purity closer to reality. atsushi and dazai being placed in the water shows how they are the ones who will make change (as atsushi can cut through the fabric of abilities using his tiger claws, and dazai nullifies abilities).

She ran away from the home she stayed in and ran into Daemon and Nikolai in the streets. The circus brought her to life. She was a new person now.

ill try and recommend a broader variety of stuff, but even my classics repertoire is lacking in a lot of places. i'll do my best, i really hope you like at least a couple of these!!

• wuthering heights by emily brontë. i know, i know this one was a given, but it's truly so atmospheric... of course there's lots of conversations to be had about how emily bronte handles race throughout the novel and there's 19th century typical racism and orientalism to look out for in this, but the novel and all of its characters including heathcliff are all so complex.

• dracula by bram stoker. again with the orientalism and xenophobia here (prevalent ideas of vampires at the time) but it truly is a gothic horror staple. it's super fun to read; it's assembled like a case study file with different mediums (diary entries, phonograph records, newspaper clippings). many people have tried to outdo the doer with this and i think still fail to this day.

• the iliad as translated by emily wilson. now not strictly like classics classics since it's ancient greek epic poetry, but emily wilson's translations are some of my favorite. they're in very accessible language, yet doesnt lose the intended rhythm of the original. emily wilson has a lot of care for the work she translates, and it shows!

these might be my top three since i don't want to give you a list that's a million years long, but if you wanted shorter reads to get you back into the swing of things, Carmilla by J Sheridan le Fanu is only a little over 100 pages, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is just under 300 pages, and The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson is only 144 pages, and all three are good!

I admittedly haven't read a whole lot of more contemporary classic novels (I want to fix this), but out of the ones I have read so far, East of Eden by John Steinbeck was my favorite.

!!!! BSD5 EP10 SPOILERS !!!!

i take back all my ironypoisoned statements about bsd i loved that most recent episode a LOT a lot. its not like i disliked the current arc by any means, but it also reached a point in its absurdity where i stopped taking it too seriously - and MAN did this episode bring it back SO GOOD!!!

it did really well - between sigma and dazai being trapped in the flooded room, the sskk fight, the fyodor and sigma scenes, the bram and aya scenes - both with bringing all those subplots to very bleak devastating points, AND with something i have always always criticized about bsd: the violence here feels real, it has stakes - yes i expect a bsd-typical fakeout next episode after we saw dazai get (supposedly) shot to death, yes i know atsushi after being dismembered is probably gonna be fine, one way or another, cuzthats how this show rolls... BUT!!! BUT! let me bask in this until the next episode drops: the WEIGHT of it all!! how PAINFUL they made it!!!

bsd gives characters mortal injuries often, and doesnt really give them lasting impact. remember when atsushi lost his leg? kunikida lost his hands? or when dazai got shot in the eye in dark era? those bits essentially existed just for the striking imagery of violence - for the shot of dazai bleeding through his bandages, but he's still standing, pretty motionless, you know? and it's something you get used to with bsd, as much as i gripe about how the fights tend to not really have stakes...

...but this episode, though? i think going so long seeing these characters crumple and tear like paper and largely be fine, makes the absolute painful bleakness of this feel all the worse: dazai's crumpled on the floor from a broken leg, bleeding from the head, and he can't deliver many of his dazai-typical quips before he gets shot in the shoulder and just grabs it and screams. he doesn't get the satisfaction of being grabbed, or strangled, or whatever else by chuuya's hands, he doesn't even have the control of that: no, all he can do is just sit there while he's shot, over and over, and even when he's on a smarmy genre-savvy self-aware ramble, chuuya just stops him and shoots him in the head - and that's so fucking jarring and makes for INCREDIBLY striking imagery, i love it!!! for once, he's not safe! there's no plot armor! he's in so much pain and he is actively feeling it!!! AND THATS SO IMPORTANT TO HUMANIZING A CHARACTER LIKE DAZAI

AND THE SSKK FIGHT GOD DONT GET ME STARTED - the way atsushi's screams were voice acted, my god youd think they were actually tearing off yuto uemura's limbs in that recording studio. sweet jesus. you see people complain a lot about manga-aname adaptation changes but, as someone who hasnt read the manga, any cuts studio bones made were made up for by the absolutely brilliant audio - the music and voice acting - in every way, in this episode. the screams of pain. fyodor's gayass little stunt. so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also sigma was awesome. aya was awesome. bram was awesome. fyodor made me feel a type of way (HIS ACTING WAS SO GOOD. MY GOD!!! TAKING ADVANTAGE OF SIGMA'S NAIVETE LIKE THAT!!! SPEAKING TO THEM IN TROPES BECAUSE THEY'RE LITERALLY A BOOK CHARACTER AAAUHHHH). 10/10 we are so fucking back. I LOVE ANIME.
