May 4, 2023 - Knysna Warbler or Knysna Scrub Warbler (Bradypterus sylvaticus) Found along the coast of South Africa, these grass warblers live in tangled scrub and forest edges, often near water. They feed on invertebrates, including insects and their larvae, spiders, slugs, and worms, foraging in dense vegetation and on the ground. Females build loose, bulky nests from leaves, pine needles, grasses, and plant fibers near the ground in thickets, sedges, or other plants and lay clutches of two or three eggs. Both parents feed the chicks. They are classified as Vulnerable due to suspected population declines from habitat loss and degradation in their small, fragmented range.
