Having been handed a collar from His Royal Highness himself, admittedly, Nat almost completely spaced the actual order as she immediately had... better ideas as to what to do with this particular collar... 🫦
"Mm, it's a little big anyway..." She could always make some adjustments later. 🖤
Alas, for now, so too were there Borghens to walk. With a frighteningly quick turn of the heel, she spun around, luscious Natty locks bouncing beautifully, "antennae" spry and devious intent plastered upon her face with the subtlety of a glaring neon sign.
"Oh Borghy boy.~"

biting and scratching and crying thinking about deumion, like. LIKE you don't want to kill but your skill means that you're now 1. immortal, 2. alone, 3. forced to kill anyone who reaches you (if you're unlucky.) HE'S LITERALLY SHACKLED TO DEATH ITSELF my man cannot catch a BREAK 💔 on a lighter note, leila is so fun! how did she escape the leviathan? who knows! but what I do know is that I have no choice but to stan. I am gently holding all the ffii characters in my hands. except for borghen.
IT MAKES ME FUCKING CRAZY. hes so young. one of the last things he hears before he leaves to be stuck in isolation for millennia is his mother wailing behind him, desperately crying out his name. hes just a KID THEYRE ALL JUST KIDS ITS NOT FAIR. to be forced (ITS STILL FORCED AND YOU KNOW IT. YOU CANT PUT ALL THAT ON A KID AND EXPECT HIM TO SAY NO) to hold the weight of the future on your shoulders without ever even getting to see it. to be able to do nothing but hope that mankind survives with your sacrifice. everyones futures in exchange for your own and youll never even get to see it.
LIKE. he doesnt know that the shit w mateus was going down!! he has no idea how the outside world is doing! its just him and his ouppy and the arcane labyrinth and eternity. AND THATS THE GOOD ENDING. ETERNITY FOREVERMORE ALONE AND FORGOTTEN BY THE GREATER WORLD. THIS IS NOT A GOOD ENDING DAWG IM CRYING!!!!!!
BUT HIS. HIS DESPERATION AS HE CRAWLS AFTER YOU, DEFEATED BUT UNABLE TO LET GO BECAUSE WHAT WAS IT ALL FOR IF HE FALLS HERE. IF HE RELINQUISHES DESTRUCTION TO A STRANGER HE COULD NEVER KNOW. and even then, all the others he himself had slain to fulfill his role, as someone who loves humanity so deeply that his love is all he is anymore.
HES A KID.
cough. erm.
smiles at u. leila. girlbossing it up in here. TBH even without a ship youd have to imagine shes prepped as a swimmer + leviathan would have no reason to attack her after swallowing down firion and the crystal rod plus the tower is otherwise surrounded by that ring of land. so as unlikely as it would seem, i wouldnt say its outside of the realm of possibility for her to make it to land, esp w leviathan fucking w the currents. the biggest obstacle aside from the open water would be the monsters, but then again, it's not like she doesnt come default w thunder (i have so many thoughts abt magic and mysidia and i would LOVE to hear what someone else thinks abt it if ur ever up for that). so its unlikely, but i cant say its impossible for her to make it out of there... her other obstacle would be making it off the isles Also without a ship but tbh if she swam out of the bay i think she can make it across that channel also. to be quite honest.
ff2 characters 🥰 paul my good friend paul. finally, my chance to live up to my blog title has arrived.

woooow circle thinking about final fantasy 2? why would i ever do that. why would i ever refer to myself in the third person?! circle dash bircle never thinks about emperor... headcanons (and minwu)
so like we know minwu forfeited his life to lift the seal to ultima. i don't know, just the possibilities that stem from that are sooo delicious?
mateus is a magic guy, minwu is a magic guy. i think it would be fun if they knew each other before the events of the game. the thought of minwu teaching mateus magic and teaching him to become a white wizard stays in my brain all of the time because mateus has the capabilities to stay like that: he's got barrier and blink and slow and it's clear mateus has used those spells before, they're all defensive spells.
maybe minwu leaves to be the advisor to fynn or whatever, and then that's when the emperor decides to learn thunder: like NO, he's not going to be a pacifist! destroying fynn is only a step in his plan towards world domination and whatever, but i think it would really take minwu by surprise. mateus? the man he raised to be a white mage? the one he specifically tutored to never harm another soul? murdering? maiming? slaughtering?!?
so that's why i think he's so willing to give up his life. not only to keep the world safe, but because he knows the thing that should kill the emperor should be the thing he cast out of his life before he started destroying the world.
am i cooking? no. but i have more characterization to beat out of them. i'll talk about borghen next (no i won't)

Final Fantasy II: The Planning Materials
The Final Fantasy Ultimania Archive books have some early material for the games in each volume. Of particular note, especially in Vol 1 is Final Fantasy II’s material; Compared to the other games, the material there indicates it could have practically turned out to be a totally different game.
There are practically three different documents: A prototype document, a second document that is closer but still has significant differences and a third that is closest to the final game.
DOCUMENT 1: THE PROTOTYPE
The prototype document is the most wildly different of the bunch. It was originally more of a political intrigue story: A king with three sons must decide on a heir, but it’s split between the oldest (set to inherit) and the youngest (whom the king dotes on the most). This splits the court in two as the advisors and such want power. To make matters worse, a neighboring empire hears of this and sees an opportunity to take over the kingdom. Meanwhile, monsters that were chased out of the city decide to take advantage of the chaos.
It’s all rather interesting and extremely different from FFII. On the surface, the primary connections is with the characters: Some are very similar while others only share names:
Firion and Aile: Legendary heroes who defeated an evil dragon. Firion is said to be dead while Aile mysteriously vanished.
Ricard was one of the princes (the others being Roger and Philip), namely the middle one. He would’ve sided with the empire, though the minister of the Empire’s description claims that he’s “trying to use” Ricard, so implications...
Gordon was “a cruel bounty hunter”. Yeah.
Leon belonged to a kingdom named Bamburg and was a famous knight.
Josef was a “brazen” but friendly strongman
Hilda was a knight with a grudge against monsters for taking her mother.
Lastly, Paul and Leila were very similar to how they would end up in the final game (with Paul having originally also been an info broker, which he kinda still is in the final, and the leader of a thieves guild).
Finally, the main kingdom is named Altair.
Little of this version made it into the final, but there’s still heavy influence: The kingdom politics aspect remains to an extent, the concept of an empire trying to conquer neighboring kingdoms was reinvented for the main plot of the game, the monsters were combined with the empire and dragons still feature prominently in II, albeit as good guys. Some of the ideas for the game, such as good/evil and fame parameters or a timeline for events, show significant ambition (indeed, it sounds more like an Ogre Battle game) that, while scaled back, is still present in some of FFII’s more experimental systems.
Also, to note: According to the Ultimania Archive, some of these ideas got repurposed into Romancing SaGa 2. So, y’know.
DOCUMENT 2: THE EARLY PLOT
This document bears a much closer similarity to FF2, having a number of scenarios that are similar to the final. However, some characters and scenarios still differ:
- The order of events are way different here: Deist happens very early, The coliseum happens before Hilda is kidnapped, etc.
- Borghen has much more of a role here. The “self-proclaimed ‘right hand of the Emperor’” is the one the party faces off against in the opening battle, and he takes Hilda later during the Dreadnaught sequence. The party has to confront him at his estate where he forces them to play Human Chess, Hilda being brainwashed and one of the pieces.
- Speaking of, Hilda is a Holy Knight in this treatment.
- Leon appears at several points, namely in the Deist Cavern and in the Mythril Mines. Leon has some pretty major differences compared to the final game: He doesn’t take up the identity of the Dark Knight (meaning the party knows that he’s turned heel from the get-go), there’s indications that he was meant to be fought multiple times (as opposed to never in the final) and, most interestingly, he would attempt to appeal Firion to either let him take the Wyvern egg (Deist) or to join him (Salamand). It should be mentioned that Firion and Leon’s bond is heavily stressed in this treatment, compared to the final (more on that in a bit).
- Firion has more characterization in this version. He’s said to be passionate about combat, so much so that Minwu constantly warns him about going down the same path as the Emperor. There were also a few moments, such as him having a moment of weakness when he falls for the trap in the coliseum or having to defend himself from rumors of his being a spy. Also, he uses the pseudonym “Cole” while entering the Coliseum.
- Maria and Guy aren’t very fleshed out in this build. Maria is a “lively archer” while Guy is “a cool-headed magician”, of all things. Interestingly, the two are described simply as being friends of Firion and Leon, whom were still raised as (adopted) brothers. This implies that the idea of Maria and Leon being biological siblings came later and, when it did, Maria absorbed the relation to Leon that Firion had.
- Minwu is explicitly said to see the future and has a dislike of harming living things. At the very least, the former seems to have inspired Minwu’s feelings of destiny in the final.
- Gordon is about the same, with the added bonus of also being a drunkard.
- Josef is about the same, death and all. An added difference is that he was a blacksmith.
- Paul is roughly the same, once more running a thieves guild. Cid is somewhat similar, but more concerned with money rather than being consumed by his airship.
- Aile is a unique case: Aile was meant to be a wandering fortuneteller who also acted as a hint system/story reminder. She would eventually reveal herself to be the Emperor’s mother. Unfortunately, we don’t get much detail beyond that, although she heavily features in the “Labyrinth of Nightmares” novelization.
- The Wyvern that is unnamed in the final is named “Opal” in this treatment. There was also meant to be a pendant which allowed the party to understand the wyvern.
DOCUMENT 3: THE SCENARIO OUTLINE
The third document details the general outline for the plot. This one is the closest of the three, although there are still some differences.
- Firion and Maria are about the same
- Leon is about the same, but it is explicitly said that he is brainwashed. In the final, it’s ambiguous whether or not Leon willingly joined or was brainwashed into doing so (later sources suggest he joined as a sort of coping mechanism). A scene also seems to imply that Leon is sub-ordinate to Borghen in the empire, whereas the final game is ambiguous.
- Guy has an added detail to his backstory: He was bullied when he was younger due to his poor talking skills. Firion stood up for him and Guy has been loyal to Firion ever since. It’s not said whether or not Guy was adopted into Maria and Leon’s family like Firion was.
- Leila is about the same, but it’s mentioned that she enjoys booze.
- Name changes abound: Hilda = Cynthia, Scott = Lysander, and Ricard was not named yet (simply referred to as ‘Dragoon’).
- Cid is similar to his previous portrayal; He works for both the rebels and the empire and is primarily concerned about money, though he warms up to the party over time.
Aside from that, most of the events are the same, but there are some differences: The party successfully sneaking onto the Dreadnaught but being stopped by Leon, Hilda being captured at Bafsk, with the Dreadnaught being parked at Fynn, the creatures that raised Guy helping the party sneak into Castle Palamecia via a tunnel, etc. But overall, it’s far closer than the other scripts.

/// I finally finished Final Fantasy II! The Emperor was still very difficult to beat but I did it. I had no idea how close to the end I was!
So yeah, I have many theories with how the events of FFII tie into FFIV (I swear it’s a sequel to FFII there are too many similarities for it not to be). If I remember I’ll write some out, but if you’re curious of any of my thoughts, I wrote down notes during my play through which I posted a few months ago! Spoilers, obviously, if you haven’t played it yet. And some final notes under the cut :3 ///
•Ok, so I did have to look up the best way to fight the Emperor because I would spend like an hour at a time fighting, getting nowhere, and then eventually being wiped out. However, it has led to some interesting discoveries!
•So, before I looked up the final fight, I went back to the surface to stock up on supplies and try to get the Bloodsword (which I couldn’t). I had made my way through the Jade Passage and half of Pandaemonium before I stopped playing before. So I booted up the game this time and finished it. However, this time through, I forgot which ways to go and I ended up finding some supplies that helped. Most of it was armor, but I also found Masamune in a secret room which SIGNIFICANTLY increased Firion’s attack power!
•I also found some armor which had a “Monster-In-A-Box!” One of the monsters was Zombie Borghen which was as much of a joke as he was to fight alive. Although, I will say, death made him slightly stronger.
•Also, I learned that Excalibur is a weapon in this game as well which is given if you take Ricard back to Deist to see his family. I’m sad I missed out on that but I probably would have cried tbh.
•Hilda and Gordon are ruling together and they are so wonderful together! Also everyone’s goodbyes (including the ghosts of dead party memebers) was very emotional.
•Leon’s send off is kinda similar to Kain’s in IV. He’s ashamed of himself so he doesn’t feel like he belongs with his friends anymore, but Firion lets him know that they’ll be waiting whenever he’s ready to return. It was very sweet honestly.
#❀You may find me at the archery range ▻ (OOC)#I don’t think anyone particularly cares about my FFII journey#but I thouroughly enjoyed playing it for the first time!#honestly I think FFIV was an improvement of Square Enix’s storytelling and character creation than a direct sequel to FFII events#but you know what#I prefer to live in my little bubble where everything is connected sequentially lol#so yeah I’m starting on Soul of Rebirth which is post game FFII content#so I’m sure I’ll get some new ideas from this as well#I was tearing up at the end because it was over#I honestly didn't think I had enough time to connect with a lot of the characters but at the end I found myself emotional over them

Avalanche WIP

❛ Tell me how you did that. ❜ (for Nat)
From: ❝𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞❞ rp meme
"Mm, by moving that cylinder to the left and stabilizing the mount..."
She spoke with an enthusiasm rarely witnessed beyond the reception of unspeakable horrors, beautiful women and smokin' hot "villainry."
Before them both lay a monstrous, mechanical myriad of "divine punishment." Judgment day, if it had propellers. A behemoth of a vessel, armed to its metaphorical teeth - though, literal teeth could be a fun little addition. Even still in the making, it truly was a masterpiece.
As was the vast crater now bored into the mountainside hundreds of yards away...
"NATASH."
"... Works like a charm, now.~"
If one looked closely, they could not only hear, but see the captain; his particularly rotund, striped bottom gracefully poised before the heavens. He was "face down, ass up," as they say. Eventually finding whatever brand of cajones he needed to lift himself off the ground, he spun around, hard-favored face ruddy as his boots. He was coming.
"YOU IMBECILE."
It was surprising how fast a man of his constitution could move, actually...

Final Fantasy II Labyrinth of Nightmares Part 2: Hunters of Transient Dreams, Chapter 5
“Maria!” Firion drew Maria to him, cradling her gently against his chest as if she were a small animal. She was so overcome with joy that the only thing Maria could do was sob out Firion’s name as he held her against him. Guy looked over the two of them, choking back on his own emotions as he bore witness to the gesture of genuine affection between two of his best friends. Hilda and Minwu allowed the three of them to regain their composure before debriefing them on their current circumstances.
Deist had been the first country Palamecia had struck. Due to its close ties with Fynn, the survivors of that initial onslaught had immediately rushed to the aid of Fynn and Hilda. Hilda had marshalled the remaining forces into a rebel army under her leadership and they had hunkered down under the partially standing remains of what had once been the Royal Palace of Deist. It was a location of strategic importance as Deist was on the southern tip of the continent and allowed the rebel army to spy on the movement of Palamecia forces.
Hilda had sent out a squad from this army to retrieve Gordon, and by extension, Firion and his friends.
Firion opened his mouth to express his gratitude for the Princess’ timely rescue. “Princess Hilda, you have --”
She cut him off before he could continue. “You should express your thanks towards Minwu, not myself. It was his skill with magic that allowed us to retrieve your wandering soul.”
Firion forced his attention to the man in white in the corner of the room. “Thank you, Minwu.”
Minwu nodded in return.
“That man...” Firion mused, thinking of his most recent opponent. “He was a mage too. But his magic was evil.”
“You are referring to Count Borghen? I’ve had several reports concerning him from several of our forces stationed around the world. But Firion…” Princess Hilda trailed off, her regal brow furrowed in thought.
“Yes?” Firion responded.
“This is something that goes beyond magic as we understand it.”
“Beyond magic?”
Hilda turned to Minwu, allowing him to take over the explanation from there.
Minwu began explaining to Firion about magic, something he had devoted his life to mastering. Magic was a power derived from God; it was supposed to be a power used for the benefit of mankind.
However certain parties had learned that if they approached that training with a specific, powerful force, the magic could be warped into something malignant.
Firion interrupted Minwu’s lecture. “What was this powerful force?”
Minwu took a moment to gather his thoughts before quietly answering Firion’s question. “To deny God is an act of intentional malice. It invites the eyes of the Devil, and allows one to gain access to evil, supernatural powers.”
“Evil, supernatural powers?” Firion exclaimed.
As Minwu’s words turned over in their heads, Firion, Maria and Guy thought about Leon and Elma. They had only indirectly seen signs of potential possession in Leon when they had come across the mutilated corpse of Leon’s beloved dog Perry. Elma, whom they had faced directly, had seemed possessed by something intent on taking Firion’s life.
“Could it…” Firion trailed off, trying to order his thoughts in a calm and rational manner. “I mean, surely the malice of one man couldn’t destroy the world so quickly? Or cruelly?”
“You are correct, Firion.” said Princess Hilda. “I cannot help but feel that Emperor Mateus is not our true enemy. That there is another, more powerful, force working in tandem with him.”
“But Princess Hilda,” Maria asked in the small voice that could have come from a child, “How can anyone beat that kind of power?”
Hilda shook her head. “I don’t know.” she said. She straightened, determination glinting through her eyes as she continued to speak. “I don’t know. But so many young people, from all over the world, are coming to me. I can’t let them down. I refuse to fail, even if I am the only one remaining able to fight.”
Maria felt a sudden kinship with this woman before her. Like Hilda, Maria had suffered loss when her parents had been ripped from her in an instance. It wasn’t quite the same as your romantic partner being stolen from you before you could even begin to enjoy marriage, but Maria’s womanly heart ached for the princess even so.
At that moment, Gordon entered the room in brisk indignation. His eyes briefly slid over Firion before blatantly ignoring him to turn his ire fully on the princess, making it clear that Firion, and his earlier interference, had offended Gordon.
“Hilda!” Gordon barked, marching directly in front of her.” Hilda, I demand an explanation. I’ve been informed that I have been removed from the battle corps. I am in perfect health. I have every intention of returning to the front lines immediately-”
Hilda cut him off with an imperious gesture of her hand. “You have proven yourself inept with command, Gordon,” she told him coldly. “I will not allow you to abuse the soldiers under my care any further. The front lines have suffered enough rescuing you from your own foolhardiness, and I will not reward that loyalty by allowing them to bear the consequences of your selfish behavior!”
“But…” Gordon retreated momentarily, the wind briefly taken out of his sails before his eyes lit back on Firion. It allowed him to gather the indignation to muster up a counter riposte to Hilda’s claims. “It was them!” He accused, pointing at where Firion, Maria and Guy had gathered around each other. “If they hadn’t interfered, I would have had Count Borghen! I was willing to die if it meant killing him as well!”
“Silence, Gordon.” Hilda ordered, regal grace adding power to her command. “The point in victory in battle is to live to see it through. There is no meaning in holding your life so cheaply. Accusing these people of interference when they were trying to save you is wrong.”
Hilda paused, looking at Gordon with implacable eyes. “I heard about Mai, Gordon.”
Gordon said nothing.
“I heard he loved you.”
Gordon stiffened at the observation, but continued to say nothing.
“I have been informed that he took a direct hit of cannon fire meant for you.”
Gordon continued to remain silent.
Hilda regarded Gordon before continuing in a tone of quiet finality. “You will not participate in any future battles, Gordon.”
Gordon immediately began to protest but it was clear that Hilda had no intentions on hearing him out. She bowed to Firion, Maria and Guy before exiting the room.
Prince Gordon stood there fuming after being lectured, and Firion struggled to find the words that wouldn’t offend the second son of the Kashuan Royal Family. After all, what sort of commiseration could a commoner offer in speaking to a prince? The effort was in vain; Gordon shot Firion a glare before turning on his heels and stalked out.
“You’re being rude, Your Highness!” Maria called out. Unlike Firion, she had no problem in speaking her mind.
“Maria!” Firion began to chide her, but faltered. After all, she had only said what he himself was already thinking.
“You’ll have to excuse him,” Minwu stated quietly from where he had stationed himself in the corner of the room. “Prince Gordon is desperate to earn forgiveness from Princess Hilda.”
“He is?” Firion asked, looking into the mage’s gentle eyes.
“When faced with the spectre of death for the first time, Prince Gordon was paralyzed by his fear and found himself unable to fight for home or freedom,” Minwu explained. The mage chose his words carefully, painting a picture of Gordon’s turmoil and grief. He had been in Fynn, celebrating the marriage of his brother to Hilda, when the dark clouds of Palamecia’s power grab had covered the world.
Gordon bore witness to his brother and his father taking up arms against an enemy too strong for them to obtain victory. His mother and her retinue were chased down and slaughtered for sport by enemies in thrall of their own capacity for violence. He heard Hilda’s pleas for help but bound by his own horror, Gordon was unable to breach his terror to bring himself to act.
By the time he was able to gain even a modicum of mastery over his fear, Gordon stood alone in a desolate wasteland.
“He abandoned his family to escape,” Firion fought to keep his tone free of any judgement, even as he felt his own anger rising at the evidence of the Prince’s cowardice.
“He didn’t have the strength to fight back,” Minwu emphasized. “Not then.”
The three of them turned Minwu’s words in their heads like it had been a solemn incantation.
“That’s why…” Firion didn’t finish his thought as he thought about Gordon’s compulsive drive to defeat Count Borghen at all costs if it meant that the rebel army would have gained significantly from such a victory. Gordon’s motivations were suddenly clear to all three youths.
“Do you think Princess Hilda is able to forgive Prince Gordon?” Maria asked Minwu.
Minwu did not give an answer; he hid his eyes underneath his white hood and it made his expression inscrutable. There was only silence, and the heavy air that had somehow become the new normal since the world went to war two months ago.

i also always think about the ships emperor mateus has especially in dissidia but i think in ff2 there is a lot to work with despite how little the game gives.
mateus/leon and mateus/firion just make sense. like they are the main guys. to that mateus/hilda also makes sense because she is literally the prize of the rebels.
i like the idea of mateus/minwu especially with light emperor. minwu still being so steadfast about wanting to defeat the emperor is so ic for him but i think a corruption arc for minwu would be really interesting to explore - tainted by the emperor and his dark magic? like how borghen is to mateus but actually competent
to that i think borghen/mateus is really silly but the thought of someone so pathetic like borghen sucking up to the emperor is so <3 how would he whip him into shape? something like that.
i have more thoughts but i have to sleep. idk what has come over me recently with the sudden influx of mateus and ff2 thoughts but that's how the cookie crumbles. if nobody else is writing for them, *ill* write for them!
#i would also like to say while i am a writer the ff2 artists really carry the fandom#i go on twitter and see the most drop dead gorg art of mateus and firion and everyone else#they're the real mvps#emperor ramble tag

[ Previous. ]
Sometimes, Leon would hear the occasional roar of an airship flying over the Chocobo Forest, bringing with it strong breezes that would shake the trees and even made Leon panic that his tent was going to fall over.
Airships had made their way into the skies once more after the emperor’s creation, The Dreadnought, was destroyed by the Wild Rose Rebellion via the use of Sunfire. The former knight remembered it all so clearly, meeting eyes with Maria and the others in the engine room just mere seconds after the Sunfire had been flung into the Dreadnought’s engine.
He barely made it out with his life from that damn ship.
Leon crosses his arms as he leans against a tree, closing his eyes for a moment as he thinks back to the morning that Mateus had revealed his impressive blue-prints for the warship to him and Borghen, it being another step in his plan for conquering all beyond Palamecia.
If only Mateus had used that talent on something a little less vile.
Leon scrunched his nose as he walked alongside Borghen to the throne room, trying his hardest to not gag from the shorter man's repulsing stench. It was like if the man had never even taken an actual bath before, as all he did was cover up his piss smell with strong cologne -- which was too effective. There was only one time ever Leon could feel sympathy for the emperor, and it was when Borghen was in the room with them. The knight found humor in seeing the emperor covering his nose with a handkerchief, however. It was a rare moment where Mateus looked absolutely upset and desperate to do whatever it took to get rid of the thing that was stressing to him -- and that meant sending Borghen out to do mundane things while leaving Leon to do the actual work. Not that he could complain, it got the fatass and his awful smell away from everyone for a bit. "Heheh, I do wonder what His Majesty has planned for us this time. What do you think it is?" Borghen suddenly asked, snapping Leon away from his train of thought. "Hopefully a plan to make you wash your ass." Borghen growls in retaliation. "Excuse me?!" "You heard me, your goddamn body odor is offensive to just about everyone here, including the emperor." Leon replies with a snarl, gripping his helmet tightly in his hands. "If you want to earn his respect so bad, the least you could do is make yourself more presentable, yanno?" The shorter man goes quiet, as does Leon when they get close to the throne room doors. A guard was stationed on both sides of the doorway, and they looked down upon the two with absolute disdain. The Dark Knight couldn't help but roll his eyes as he noticed Borghen hiding behind him. Being a complete coward as usual. After a moment passes, the doors to the throne room are opened, and the two guards move to allow Leon and Borghen to step on through. Violets focused on the throne a few feet before them, the emperor unusually absent from it's seat. The translator wasn't here either, and for a second Leon felt nervous. Where the hell was Mateus? "Ah, look at that empty seat. It must be so comfortable to sit in, heh." Borghen comments while rubbing his hands, only to stop when he was met with a slap on the back of his head. "You can go gaga over it all you want, but I'll break your fucking fingers if you dare touch it." "Yeowch! You take that damn Dark Knight role too seriously, ya brat!" Leon leaned towards the shorter to retort, but immediately paused upon hearing the doors creak open. In waltzed a rather unkempt Mateus, as if fresh out of bed, telling by the messy flattened blonde locks and robe hastily thrown on. Koda was following closely behind, looking a bit disheveled himself. They both had their hands full, Mateus tightly gripping a tube under his arm while the translator was holding a tray and trying his best to not spill the contents. Borghen made a face at the white mage as he passed before focusing his attention on the emperor. "Uhm, good morning your majest-"
"Silence. You do not speak unless I say, understood?" Mateus interrupted in a tired, yet poisonous tone. Leon almost wanted to laugh, but kept his composure as he remembered that he quite liked having his head attached to his neck. Borghen let out a soft whimper and only nodded his head, eyes directed towards the floor. Something must of kept him up late last night, Mateus was never the one to appear outside of his chambers with an appearance like that. It almost worried Leon, as much as he hated to admit it to even himself. He grits his teeth together as he silently curses at himself -- why the fuck did he care so much?! "Leonhart." "Yes?" The knight snapped out of it instantly, an overwhelming amount of anxiety suddenly taking over him. "Come here. I have a job for you that concerns my latest project." Project? What did he mean? Was that what Mateus was up doing last night? Without question, Leon obeyed and approached the steps leading up to the throne, watching as the lid from the tube was thrown onto the ground, the emperor pulling out a large, rolled up piece of paper from within. A navy brow rose up in curiosity, and for once, Leon was actually stumped. Clearly, that wasn’t a map Mateus held, and it was too big to be any important document -- so what the hell was it? "These are blueprints for a warship that I intend to use against the rebels, to crush those fleeting dreams of theirs to amply stop my campaign." "....A warship?" Leon cocks his head to the side. He thought that Palamecia already had one, but perhaps he made an error in not paying attention much. The empire had the reputation of being obsessed with war, so one like Leon would assume they had such a weapon -- of course, Leon had never seen a warship before.
“Yes, a warship. Larger than your average airship and more powerful as well.” Mateus replied, taking a step back as two men rushed in with a table in tow, placing it right infront of him and Leon. The emperor uncurled the mystery roll he had been holding across the wooden surface, revealing a complete layout of an airship -- inside and out.
Leon couldn’t help but be amazed, and neither could Borghen, as he was peeking at it from behind the knight. It obviously showed that Mateus put both his blood and tears into this, as everything was labeled, descriptions of what weapons should be equipped being in-depth, and even the material list had been long thought out. As awesome as it was, however, Leon did have one concern.
"This is great and all, Your Majesty, but how the hell are we supposed to get this built? This damn thing is going to need more hands than just the army!”
Mateus simply laughs in response. “Who said that we were constructing it? You’re going to get the people of Bafsk to do that.”
