Hiii, I'm the guy, who, asked about french culture for a school project, I was wondering if, you had any photos of France, cuz, we have to make an invitation and we have the idea of making it a postal card, so we had this one idea of making like a collage of photos and yeahh, if you don't have any it's okay, thank you either way, I hope you have a wonderful day! :D
I'm not a big traveler, but here are some I took.
So first, have some photos of Boulogne-sur-Mer, a famous beach city in the North of France.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(yeah, we don't have the blue cool water they have in the south lmao. It's green and polluted, and full of weird bugs that bites your legs xD)
A random picture of Paris where you can see Notre-Dame-de-Paris, our cathedral. It was before it burned though, that's like collector pics or something.
Tumblr media
Next is a picture of Lille, I think ??? I don't know either lol. It's a big fountain in the central place of Lille, which is the biggest city in the North of France (North is a department by the way). Though it might be Paris too. I have no idea, it was taken a few years ago lol. (Edit: That's Paris, not sure where, but that's a nice looking fountain lol).
Tumblr media
Have next a famous library in Paris. Yeah, we named our libraries with famous English dramaturgists sometimes, that makes total sense.
Tumblr media
And then another look of Notre-Dame at night, in Paris. It burned like two weeks after I went there :') But you can see what it looked like before that.
Tumblr media
And if you need more generic pictures, that's a lake. It's like 10 minutes away from my house lol. It's polluted too, with carbon. When you go in the water, you get out all dirty.
Tumblr media
I'm so sorry, I'm realizing I'm actually not the best at taking photos of my country xD I'll see if that's a skill I can ameliorate later.
You can find plenty of photos of at least Paris on websites like Pixabay that are free to use and way better than mine honestly. If you want some famous cities, you can try Marseille, Arras (best city ever to visit, especially during the Christmas period), Nantes, Paris, Amiens, Lille, Toulouse, Bordeaux... I'm sure you'll find nice photos there!

•  full  name:  eulalie  cléo  mercier
•  age:  34
•  gender/pronouns:  female,  she/her
•  species:  medium
•  occupation:  curator  at  the  portum  art  museum
•  residency:  five  years
•  spoken  languages:  french,  english,  and  a  little  latin  (because  of  old  texts)
•  alignment:  lawful  neutral  with chaotic  tendencies
•  aesthetic:  ink-stained  fingers  flipping  through  centuries-old  letters,  perfume  lingering  in  empty  rooms,  dimly  lit  galleries  at  night,  espresso  and  red  wine,  candlelight  flickering  when  no  one’s  near.
⎯⎯⎯⎯
some  people  are  born  into  their  names.  others  grow  into  them.
eulalie  mercier  was  never  given  the  choice.
she  came  into  the  world  on  a  cold  december  morning  in  a  maison  de  maître  on  the  outskirts  of  bordeaux,  a  house  older  than  any  of  its  occupants,  filled  with  more memories  than  people.  it  wasn’t  haunted,  not  exactly,  but  the  past  had  a  way  of  lingering—in  the  dust  caught  in  slanted  afternoon  light,  in  the  hush  of  rooms  where  no  one  had  set  foot  in  years.  the  women  in  her  family  had  always  lived  alongside  ghosts, treating  them  as  quiet  companions  rather  than  intrusions.
there  was  no  moment  of  revelation,  no  wide-eyed  discovery  of  what  she  was.  it  was  simply  there,  as  much  a  part  of  her  as  the  honey-blonde  hair  she  inherited  from  her  mother  or  the  sharp,  aristocratic  cheekbones  passed  down  from  some  ancestor  whose  portrait  still  hung  in  the  drawing  room.  her  mother  never  sat  her  down  to  explain  it—there  was  no  need.  it was  understood.
“tu  écoutes  quand  il  le  faut,”  her  grandmother  told  her  once,  pressing  a  delicate  gold  ring  into  her  palm “mais  tu  ne  cherches  pas.  c’est  toujours  le  passé  qui  finit  par  te  trouver.”
(“you  listen  when  you  must.  but  you  don’t  go  looking.  the  past  will  always  find  you  first.”)
eulalie  never  feared  the  dead.  it  was  the  living  who  were  more  complicated.
she  grew  up  drawn  to  things  with  stories—art,  letters,  artifacts  that  held  whispers  of  the  people  who  made  them.  she  learned  the  language  of  oil  paints  and  brushstrokes,  of  pigments  that  outlived  their  artists,  of  letters  written  in  fading  ink.  some  people  thought  she  pursued  art  restoration  and  curation  to  escape  the voices,  the  flickering  presences  that  followed  her  bloodline.  they  were  wrong.  she  didn’t  run  from  them—she  simply  knew  they  weren’t  the  only  stories  worth  preserving.
she  studied  in  paris,  lived  in  the  latin  quarter,  spent  afternoons  tucked  away  in  the  archives  of  the  louvre.  she  drank  wine  on  terraces,  spoke  in  hushed  tones  in  cathedrals  where  history  still  clung  to  the  walls.  she  had  a  life  in  france,  one  she  could  have  kept.
but  portum  called.
she  arrived  five  years  ago,  not  to  long  after,  accepting  a  position  at  the  museum.  maybe  it  was  fate.  maybe  it was  something  else.  the  town  felt  like  a  place  where  the  past  still  breathed,  where  history  pressed  its  fingers  into  every  brick  and  wooden  beam.
she  settled  in  easily.  kept  her  routines.  built  a  life  of  tailored  coats  and  espresso,  art  exhibitions  and  late  nights  spent  tracing  old  ink  with  careful  fingertips.
and  when  the  past  calls?
she  listens.  but  only  if  she  wants  to.
⎯⎯⎯⎯
•  she  doesn’t  fear  the  dead.  she’s  been  hearing  them  her  whole  life—why  would  she?
•  she  doesn’t  treat  mediumship  like  a  spectacle.  it’s  just  part  of  her,  like  her  eye  color  or  her  ability  to  read.
•  she  enjoys  the  living  just  as  much  as  the  dead.  people  assume  she’s  eerie,  but  she’s  actually  warm,  sharp,  and  sometimes  even  a  little  playful.
•  she  knows  when  to  listen  and  when  to  walk  away.  not  every  voice  needs  answering.  not  every  secret  should  be  uncovered.
•  she’s  never  been  scared  of  the  dark.  but  she’s  learned  that  some  things  do  belong  in  it.
•  she  never  speaks  about  the  things  she  sees  unless  she  wants  to.  people  either  believe  or  they  don’t—what they  think  has  never  been  her  problem.
•  she  does  not  chase  ghosts.  they  come  to  her,  as  they  always  have.  she  simply  listens—when  she  wants  to.
•  she  does  not  like  cheap  wine.  if  she’s  drinking,  it’s  good,  full-bodied,  and  probably  aged  longer  than  most  people  she  knows.
•  she  collects  letters.  some  centuries  old,  some  modern,  all  of  them  filled  with  words  that  were  meant  for  someone  else.  she  doesn’t  pry.  she  simply  believes  words  should  not  be  forgotten.
•  she  has  a  habit  of  touching  things  when  she’s  thinking.  books,  paintings,  the  stem  of  a  wine  glass,  the  hem  of  her  own  sleeve.  she  is  tactile  in  a  way  that never  feels  uncertain.
•  she  smells  like  old  paper,  expensive  perfume,  and  something  warm—like  amber  and  cedarwood.
•  she  drinks  espresso  at  odd  hours.  sleep  is  a  suggestion,  not  a  requirement.
•  she  is  not  easily  impressed.  flattery  is  a  language  spoken  too  often  and  too  carelessly.  she  prefers  actions  over  words,  though  she  enjoys  well-written  ones.
•  she  doesn’t  scare  easily.  but  she  does  know  when  something  is  wrong.
•  she  prefers  things  handwritten.  text  messages  are  impersonal.  letters  are  eternal.

I took my final walk through the old town in Nîmes and took the train to Narbonne. When I arrived, I strolled along the canal into the heart of the city. Narbonne looks like Béziers but it’s a lot busier. This is to be expected as it’s a larger city.
I explored the cathedral and parts of the castle. I didn’t fancy paying anymore to enter museums and to be honest I’m getting a bit fed up of castles. This is a really ignorant thing to say, but I have seen a lot in the past 2 weeks. I strolled around the city and spent some time by the canal before it became too hot and I decided to walk back to the station. I did well, today it has been 34 degrees Celsius and I explored the city on foot.
The journey back to Béziers took 15 minutes and cost €6.50. As you approach the city by train, you get a great view of the cathedral up on the hill.
Béziers is beautiful, but it still feels rough to me. I considered heading back to Montpellier for the evening, but I can’t justify spending that much money on trains and so I did arguably the best thing that there is to do in Béziers, grab a beer and enjoy the sunset from outside the cathedral. The sunset wasn’t as spectacular today. It was nice, but what I experienced on Thursday night was out of this world. It’s my last night in France. It has been an amazing adventure in which I have seen and learnt so much. I want to come back soon and explore other parts of this great country. Travelling down the west coast from Bordeaux to Biarritz is definitely appealing to me at the moment. I also want to come back and visit Montpellier again. In the end, I really began to love its artsy bohemian feel. Although when I visit again, I will book my own private accommodation!
Thankfully my flight isn’t until tomorrow afternoon, which gives me the morning to explore Béziers some more. That is, if I get up…

The History of Pierre Gaveaux
Pierre Gaveaux (9 October 1761 – 5 February 1825) was a French operatic tenor and composer, notable for creating the role of Jason in Cherubini's Médée and for composing Leonore ou l'amour conjugal, the first operatic version of the story that later found fame as Fidelio.
Gaveaux was born in Béziers and sang in the cathedral choir there from the age of seven. Although intending to enter the priesthood, he also took lessons in composition. He next became first tenor at the Basilica of Saint-Seurin in Bordeaux, studying with Franz Beck, and subsequently decided to follow a career in music, becoming a conductor at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux as well as continuing to sing.
After a period in Montpellier, he moved to Paris where, on 26 January 1789, he took part in a performance of Giacomo Tritto's Le Avventure Amorose, which marked the inauguration of the Théâtre de Monsieur company in the Salle des Machines at the Tuileries Palace.
He subsequently performed with the company in operas such as Paisiello's L’Infante de Zamora (in 1789), and on 18 July 1791 he sang the role of Floresky in the première of Cherubini's Lodoïska. When the company moved to the Théâtre Feydeau, he was involved in a "folly in verse" called Le club des bonnes gens which was banned by the censor for being unpatriotic.
He was active during the revolutionary period, composing in 1792 a hymn to the Supreme Being. On 19 January 1795, his famous anti-Jacobin song Le Réveil du peuple (The Awakening of the People), to words by Jean-Marie Souriguière de Saint-Marc, was first performed. Notwithstanding the banning of the song on 8 January 1796 by the Directoire, he continued his career in opera, appearing in François Devienne's Les visitandines, and creating the role of Jason in Cherubini's Médée on 13 March 1797.

Both matches will be happening at 9 pm (21:00) local time in France.
That's 8 pm (20:00) in the UK.
Far too late to fly home (even on a private jet) and eat dinner with the kiddies when the match is over.
No, instead the environmental activist known as William, The Prince of Wales, will be flying on a private jet back and forth to the match because there are not enough commercial flights from London to Bordeaux without staying overnight. (I didn't see any red-eyes from Bordeaux to London when I looked online.)
Same with Kate going to Marseille.
Gee, if the environment and lowering fossil fuel emissions were so important, then why couldn't both just fly to Marseille first on a commercial plane, stay overnight in Marseille, travel to Bordeaux, stay overnight in Bordeaux, and then fly back to London on another commercial plane? Even if only one person attended each match?
Is that plan too economical and environmentally friendly?
Yet, as I said before, it seems that Will and Kate want to keep one parent at home with the kiddos at all times. Somehow, that wasn't an issue nine and a half months ago.
Can't wait to see Kate rock her two-week-plus, post-partum body on Friday and Saturday. Will she be wearing a tight dress to St. David's Cathedral to show it off, and make sure everyone sees she's carrying more weight around her middle?
