300 Follower Celebration: Engagement
Tumblr media
Engagement: Chibs Telford (This takes place is the Dog Days are Over universe)
A special thanks to @bullet-prooflove for helping out with this one!!
Most couples have a lovely story to tell for their engagement experience. Beautiful locations, either alone or surrounded by friends, a sparkling ring, tears of joy, and the promise of a new chapter in their life.
But you and Chibs are not most couples. You both agreed that neither one of you were good at the traditional routes that couples take. You were not traditional people, your previous relationships were never traditional, so why should your engagement story be any different?
Your engagement ends up as a screaming match.
“I canna believe you went to Ireland without tellin’ me!”
“It was supposed to be a surprise!” You throw down the manilla envelope with the signed divorce papers onto the kitchen table.
“Fuckin’ hell, that’s some surprise!”
“I thought you wanted to get fucking married!”
“I fucking do!”
“So do I!” You point to the envelope. “There’s the fucking proof!”
You had flown to Ireland four days ago. Only Gemma and Juice knew where you were headed. Chibs thought you went to Wellington, Florida to watch the Grand Prix since a friend of yours was riding in the competition. He was so excited when he checked the stats online and saw she had won, that he called you. Unfortunately, the call went straight to voicemail since you were sound asleep in a Belfast hotel room after a long day of travel.
After a few hours of sleep under your belt, you went to a local pub that you remember hearing about from Chibs’ IRA days and gave your contact information to the bartender, asking for Fiona Larkin to meet with you as soon as possible. You grabbed a scone and cup of tea from a nearby bakery and sat in the park waiting for the call. It never came.
“I heard you wanted to see me.”
You look up from the book you were trying to read to see a regal woman standing in front of you. Her hands are shoved in a camel colored coat and her wild curls frame her smirking face. “Fiona, I presume.”
“As long as you’re Toby.”
You nod and shift to make space on the bench for her. “Thanks for meeting me. I know it was a surprise visit.”
She sighs when she sits down. “Filip?”
“He’s fine. He doesn’t even know I’m here.”
She hums in interest. “So then why are you here?”
You pull a Manila envelope out of your bag. “I wanted to ask you in person if you would be willing to sign divorce papers.”
“Straight to the point,” she takes the envelope. “I do appreciate that. Why now? You’ve been together for what, two years already?”
“Almost three actually.” You turn the thermal sleeve of the cup of the tea nervously. “I wouldn’t ask for this but-“
“You’re dying?”
“Yeah.” The answer tastes like ash in your mouth. “I have MS and it’s advancing. I have maybe another year or so before I lose the feeling in my legs and the use of my hands. I have a farm and a business that I want Filip to have when I’m gone.”
“Marriage streamlines that. Makes a will harder to fight.”
“Exactly.”
She opens the envelope and scans the documents before extending her hand. “You have a pen, luv?”
You had to text Chibs and ignore the voicemails because you were running to catch your flight back to the States. But apparently his worry had grown to the bodily threat level and Juice caved 24 hours before your flight landed. You had missed your assistant barn manager's frantic texts and was brought up short when it was Chibs waiting in the luggage claim and not Gemma. It had been a quiet ride home from the airport but that quickly ended when you walked into the small farmhouse you shared. That was when the yelling started. Now, you’re both staring down each other, waiting for the other to lower their hackles.
You’re the one that relents this time. Two back to back 13 hour flights and a time change have exhausted you so you sink into one of the kitchen chairs. “I thought you would talk me out of going if I mentioned it to you.”
“Fuckin right, I would have.” He sighs as he takes the chair next to you. Most of the fight has left him now too. “I’m not blind, you know. I can see…”
“I’m getting worse.”
“Aye.” He’s quiet for a moment. “She dinnea put up much of a fight, did she?”
“No,” you shake your head and frown. “She was actually fairly quick to sign.”
“That’s because I’ve already been talking to her about it.”
“What?!” You try to gather some anger but you just can’t gather the energy. But it explains why she was able to meet with you so quickly. She had been expecting either you or Filip to show up. “Well, it’s done. The papers are signed. Congratulations on your divorce.”
He laughs slightly before sliding a small box across the table to you. “Then I guess it’s about time I gave you this.”
The ring inside the box is simple: a gold band with two small diamonds on either side of a round, smoky, amber colored stone.
“It was my mother’s. Cairngorm quartz.”
You know that this ring is one of the few items that he has from his life in Scotland. It’s priceless in that aspect and you feel humbled by his willingness to give it to you. You slip it onto your finger and find it fits perfectly. He’s already had it sized. You lean towards him and he meets you halfway, pressing his lips against yours.
“Thank you, Filip.” You look at this man, the one that wants to spend a lifetime with you, no matter how short it may be. “Let's get married tomorrow. I don't want to wait any longer.”

MASTERLIST // HITLIST
Tumblr media
~~(^Pinterest)
When Ralf told you he wanted to switch from team principal back to driver, you were concerned at first. You were just about to start your masters degree at your dream university, and you knew you would have very limited time to visit him. It was already hard enough when he was the principal, but now, he was the driver. That changed everything! You had never missed a race he was in, but sometimes, you need to put yourself first.
You both did your best to call every day, but it was hard sometimes with the time zones, race sessions, and class times. It was hard, and you really started to miss him after only a month of texts. You missed his voice. You missed his face. You missed his arms around you. You missed him. Period.
Well, it seemed like the racing gods were looking down on you during the week Ralf was racing at Spa, and you were notified that your university was having a power outage. All of your classes were moved online for the foreseeable future, so suddenly, you had the time to go see him race. As soon as you saw that email, you looked for the first flight out and booked it. Then, you messaged one of your friends, who agreed to pick you up and help you get into the racetrack unnoticed. Fred Vesti, one of your friends from when you worked with Ralf at Prema and one of Ralf’s current teammates, agreed to take care of everything for you.
You landed the next morning, and true to his word, Fred was there at the airport, ready to take you straight to the track for the practice session. He told you how Ralf was doing a stint, so he didn’t even know that Fred took his rented car. The team didn’t care; they got the car for the team to use.
You both laughed and caught up until Fred pulled into the car park. Fred led you through the gates without getting spotted. How he did that, you’ll never know. You made it around to the garage right around the time you saw Ralf’s car coming down the pitlane, and you knew this was your chance. You ran to the back of the garage where the driver’s room was, and you laid out on the couch, acting as if you had been there for hours. Within seconds, Ralf was walking through the door, taking his helmet off in the process and not glancing your way.
“How was the session?” You spoke up, thinking he just didn't see you.
“Could’ve gone better,” He replied as he brushed you aside. He just continued taking off his racing gear and pulled off the top half of his racing suit. “The car was oversteery and off-balanced the whole time, but they’ll get it figured out for your stint.”
“I don’t think it’d be a good idea to put me behind the wheel,” You joked with a laugh in disbelief, “Do you know how many tries it took me to get my normal license?”
“Thought you got it on your first try?” Ralf questioned as he finally looked over to you, and his eyes widened as he ran over to you. He threw his body on top of you entirely, crushing you between him and the couch. “When did you get here? How did you get here? Do your professors know?”
“Power outage at school, so classes are back on Zoom for the foreseeable future, and you seem to forget Fred is one of my closest friends from Prema,” You chuckled as you started trying to push him off of you, “Can you get up? I can’t breathe, and you’re all sweaty. Cute but sweaty.”
“I was going to take a shower, but now you’re here,” Ralf replied as he rolled the two of you over so you could rest on his chest.
“Me being here means you won’t take a shower?” You asked as you arched an eyebrow at him when you lifted your head up. “Absolutely not, Ralf Aron. You are getting in the shower, and we are going back to the hotel. I already got approval from the team to take you away for the rest of the day.”
“I’ll get in if you join me,” Ralf countered as he sat up, moving you to sit on his lap and tightening his arms around your waist.
“No funny business, mister,” You threatened with no real heat as you pointed a finger at him before giving him a kiss when he nodded in response. All too soon for Ralf’s liking, you pulled away. “Alright, let’s go. We have a schedule to uphold.”
“What schedule is this?” Ralf questioned as he stood up, still holding you. He walked you to the bathroom and set you on the counter while he took off the rest of his racing suit and fireproofs. “I wasn’t aware of any schedule.”
“I didn’t tell you, that’s what,” You laughed as you followed suit in taking your clothes off too. Ralf started the shower and waited for it to get up to temperature, expecting you to continue. You walked into his open arms, wrapping yours around his shoulders as you played with the hairs at the back of his head. “I made reservations for dinner. Is it a crime that I wanted a date night?”
“I’m paying, though,” Ralf laughed as he got into the shower, holding his hand out to help you in.
“Of course you are!” You said with fake enthusiasm. “I paid to get here. Of course, you’re paying for dinner, at least.”
“You’re lucky I love you,” Ralf teased with an eye-roll as he pulled you under the water with him.
“No, you’re lucky I love you,” You countered, pushing back a little to get your head out of the direct stream of water. “I wouldn’t fly out to meet some random person. You should feel special.”
“Trust me, I feel very special,” Ralf chuckled as he pulled you back under the water and into a kiss. When you pulled away, you tried to look up at him, but every time you did, water would hit your eyes.
“Is this what it’s like kissing in the rain? Movies make this look so much more romantic.”
“We can test that out whenever you want,” Ralf pointed out, “We’re in Belgium! It rains every other minute here!”
“Please don’t be doing what I think you’re doing in there!” Fred yelled from the other side of the door. “We all have to share this bathroom for the weekend!”
“Surprise, Fred!” You shouted with a smirk. You found joy in teasing Fred any chance you could, and this was no exception.
“I regret ever helping you get here.”

Hiiiiii I have a Käärijän prompt: they take a walk together in Slovenia and maybe they have their first kiss?
OOOOOOO exciting! I am incapable of writing fluff, so i added a little bit of feelings and pining (tm):
No castle is grander than the one Bojan takes Jere to. It's more of a fancy residence than a usual European fortress, and it's small--but it's out-of-the-way and quiet, and that's all Jere needs.
He hadn't realised just how exhausted he was until he sat on the plane to Ljubljana, with the weight of the past twelve months pressing down on his chest like some sleep paralysis nightmare. Or maybe it was just the shitty air-pressure in the cabin. He didn't dare let go of the tension even when Bojan went to pick him up at the airport, at least not until they were in Bojan's apartment - cleaned in a haphazard I'm doing this for the guests way - and on the couch.
Jere let out a deep sigh then, and perhaps it was the sign Bojan had been waiting for. He'd been reserved, mostly just glancing at Jere with a small smile, and Jere'd been wondering why through the whole ride.
'What do you wanna do?' Bojan asked quietly.
'Sleep,' Jere mumbled, exhausted. He hadn't come to visit Bojan just to sleep, but his muscles finally let go in a way that he had completely forgotten he was capable of.
So Bojan planned activities that didn't require too much energy. A holiday, a proper holiday, he said. And Jere felt a bit guilty at the start, because he wanted both of them to have fun, and lazing around was definitely not fun.
It was on the third day that they drove to the castle some way from Ljubljana. Jere spent most of the ride taking photos and capturing videos of the landscape to send home. Nothing would be posted online, they had agreed, after Bojan suggested it; Jere hadn't been sure why exactly, but he didn't mind. It was just as much Bojan's holiday as Jere's.
The castle was nestled by the border of a forest, on the foothills of a mountain. Gentle rolling hills. Pretty. In the group chat, Tomi sent him a bunch of jealous emoticons after the photos. I'm a fucking king, bro, Jere told them, attached to a photo of the villa. All he got back was a bowing emoji, and then Bojan was pulling up to the parking lot.
Their room had one king-sized bed. King of the fucking universe, Jere thought to himself. It made him laugh out loud nearly, until Bojan's vastly different reaction cut him off.
'Fuck me,' Bojan groaned upon seeing their room. He must've made the booking beforehand. 'I asked for two beds. I'll just--'
'Is fine,' Jere blocked Bojan's path with his suitcase. 'One bed, one cup of tea.'
It took Bojan a moment to remember, but the way his face lit up and the creases between his eyebrows smoothed out eased Jere's mood too.
There is a rampart of sorts, and a tower to walk up to for the hotel guests. It overlooks the valley, and has a nice view of the surrounding mountains. It's some Lord of the Rings type beauty, Jere has to admit.
On the narrow rampart, their hands brush. It's electrifying. Jere wants to grab Bojan's hand--they are the only ones there, and even if there were others, it wouldn't be their fucking business. It's only Bojan's reservation that keeps Jere's hands at his sides, awfully conscious.
They stand close, shoulder to shoulder, looking at the landscape. Jere likes the mountains, can't tear his eyes off of the peaks. He wants to be there--he wants to be here. Never leave. Buy a castle of his own and live there.
'Tomorrow we go there?' Jere asks, pointing at the mountains. His gaze returns from the hike, and settles, for a moment, on their hands resting next to each other on the rough stone. He looks at Bojan.
Bojan has been staring at him. It's a particular look that Jere has seen a few times before, in Liverpool. It's that look when Bojan goes contemplative--
'Sure, we can,' Bojan smiles, and steps around Jere to proceed up the tower. His palm, however, slips over Jere's knuckles and stay there for as long as it takes Bojan to step away.
That night, they barely sleep a few hours, because neither of them can say good night. Words come spilling into the darkness, because even now, even with Bojan and after all this time of talking about his feelings, the complete darkness gives Jere the absolute courage to reach into the deepest parts of him and show it--because Bojan won't see it, he can't see in this darkness. And Jere's English words are crusty. He wishes Bojan could speak Finnish.
They talk about the future and the past. The sum of the two is them, lying on the same bed, facing each other. Jere wishes he could see Bojan, wishes he could reach out and make sure he's there in the flesh and it's not just an illusion of his deep voice. It's a fucking nightmare. He's not afraid in the dark but a lamp would come in handy. Any other time he would not think twice touching Bojan, but still there is an aura of reservation around his friend, like he's holding back.
'What is wrong?'
Bojan opens his mouth--Jere can hear his lips separate. His tongue is dry, he should drink. The sound is obscene and comforting. A breath.
'Can't sleep.' Jere thinks, don't want to sleep.
'Me too can't,' Jere says, barely above a whisper. He shifts, shoulder growing numb, until his left arm is not underneath his body, but lying between them. He pretends that should he flex his fingers, he could touch Bojan.
'I'm--' Bojan speaks, voice gravelly. 'So glad you could make it. Really.'
'Me too.' Jere smiles to himself. His eyelids feel heavy. He doesn't want to sleep. 'I missed you, Bojan.'
Then.
Something presses again his fingers.
Bojan hooks his little finger around Jere's.
'Missed you too.' And Jere can hear him smile.
It is so much easier to do something under the aegis of darkness. It's emboldening, like adrenaline or alcohol without the inevitable crash or hangover. And thus, darkness is most dangerous to act under.
Jere feels it before he hears it:
Bojan moves closer, the mattress dips, skin presses against his. The sheets rustle, and Bojan breathes loudly. His fingers have slipped into Jere's grasp.
A presence hovers above him, but he can only see a vague silhouette. Nothing weighs on him anymore.
Jere angles his chin, and the tip of Bojan's hair brushes his nose.
The night gives both of them courage: for Jere to lift his head, and Bojan to lower his lips.

My Fandom Informed Experience Attending the 2024 USGP in Austin TX
Hey!  I just wanted to share my favorite experience at the 2024 USGP in Austin TX.  My goal is to provide some tips and general information from a fandom perspective to those thinking about attending in the future!  I've been to many comic cons, two Supernatural conventions, plenty of Ren faires, tons of baseball, soccer, hockey, basketball, football games as well as a number of horse races and concerts.  So that's my background.  Read if you want!
Thursday
So we flew into TX on the Thursday before.  The airport and rental cars were a nightmare.  Be sure to book ahead and separately (don't book the car through the airline) and confirm as much as you can by phone.  (I'm a paranoid anxious traveler, but also with the UT vs. Georgia game the same weekend the greater Austin are probably increased in size by 400,000-500,000 people that weekend so…)
Anyway, we got to our Airbnb in a Northern suburban area and then took a train downtown (the returning train is at like 8 so might not be a good option for you, but I have a weird train thing).  There was amazing BBQ and the downtown is decent, no Chicago or Nashville, but pretty cool.  There were some pop-up F1 events (that we missed because my dad wanted to see the bats fly out of the bridge (they didn't come out that night)) that you should totally look into and try to go to.  We checked out the music scene and bars and then called it a night.  Not a lot of night life happens downtown till later, so wouldn't really recommend that kinda stuff, but if that's your thing definitely check it out!
Friday
Let's get into the good stuff.  We bought our general admission and Lot R parking pass ahead of time.  I highly recommend this, but it's a pretty long walk so be prepared for that reoccurring theme for the whole weekend.  We got to the circuit around 8ish, took about 15-20 minutes to get parked and were inside the gates by around 9.  When we got in there were a ton of experiences and stores and whatnot.  I went straight to the fan stage because none of the driver interviews were advertised online.  There was a schedule on the screens there.  So it's very important to get there when the gates open to see the schedule and secure a spot to watch.
We then walked around to all the GA viewing spots just for fun.  Early in the day Friday is the only time you'll be able to do this without waiting in significant lines to cross bridges or service roads.  We watched FP from the area between T2 and T3 then SQ from T19.  Great spots and some interesting people to meet.  Merch is hella expensive, but ya gotta get something at the track just because.  COTA Merch is much more reasonable than the F1 stuff.  I also got a branded personalized cowboy hat with my initials and the shape of the circuit which was pretty cool!
We didn't stick around for Sting because we wanted to go to Academy Sports and Outdoors to buy some $6 fold up chairs.  You need these for GA.  Believe me.  Sitting on the ground on dried up dusty Texas drought stricken grass sucked.
Saturday
We managed to sneak water into the track and some snacks as well which helped a lot because food was expensive.  $20 a meal per person and $16 for a beer roughly.  We also got the race radios from Amex with my card, although they seemed to give them to anyone really.
I insisted we get there as the gates were opening which is good because it got us front seats for the driver interviews.  They were really cool but only about 10mins per team and then Hass and RBR shared a slot.
I knew going into it that I would not meet any important people and would not get much exposure to the drivers.  So that realistic expectation was very helpful.  It's a sporting event for hundreds of thousands of spectators after all and I'm a simple musician and office worker so I couldn't afford anything like paddock club passes.  GA was under $500 which I thought provided A LOT of value.  Money well spent.  That being said, seeing the drivers IRL was still really really cool and fulfilling in a reasonably healthy way.  Would a picture or handshake been cool like when I met Jared, and Jensen in Nashville at a SPN con?  Yes.  But that's NOT what kind of event this is, which I knew going into it.  All that to say, if you want to go to meet a driver and engage in that kind of fan event, it's likely not realistic.  But I love the sport as well so the race was my real reason for attending and talking with other fans was cool.  I wouldn't bring up RPF if I was you…. But I could tell the amount of lore I knew about the drivers and their interconnected careers did raise some suspicion amongst those I talked to.  But I'm paranoid.  Mostly people (my dad mostly lol) were impressed with how much I knew about the actual racing.
Anyway.  We watched the sprint and qualy in the shade in front of the T10 grandstands which was perfect to then get into the entrance for Eminem after (my dad wanted to see him, I couldn't have cared less).  Then we left before he was done and beat all the traffic.
Sunday
We got to parking lots when they were supposed to open (note that they changed the traffic pattern that day so keep your wits about you.  There's not much signage to help on Elroy Rd.) and they were already open and starting to fill.  We wanted to sit at turn one which took us close to an hour to walk there.  There's always a line to cross the track on the bridges.  There's a tram but we never used it.  That day they were randomly checking bags, but they didn't look in my backpack so not an issue for me and my food and water.
By the time we made it to Turn one it was already packed but we managed to get a decent spot.  This was 8:30am.
The good News is there are a ton of other races going on during the day so you don't get too bored waiting seven hours for the actual race.  Plus there's the drivers parade and the delight of getting to shout “boos” and curses at the rich fuckers getting hot laps and special track tours on semi trailers.  So definitely worth getting there early.
Speaking of "boos", the only real ones I heard were for the rich people and the governor of Texas (for obvious reasons) there was some booing of Max, but not too much.
We also chatted with the people around us.  Lots of Checo fans and the guy in front of me was a Max fan but was “tired of him winning all the time” and was wearing a Norris jersey.  So.  Hot take.  Interesting people.  But really fun to talk with.  People get possessive of their spot so get to know those around you to secure yours and gain goodwill.
It's hot and sunny.  Bring sunscreen.
The national anthem and fighter jet flyover is cool and had me feeling patriotic.
Then the race which was a religious experience to see in person.  Seeing the pit stops even from afar and seeing the tires strategy.  Watching the overtakes and shouting and cheer with other fans was just indescribable.
After Charles won we quickly made our way to get into the long line to watch the podium ceremony from the track.  This is very cramped so he prepared.
The podium celebration was amazing and I took a few rocks from the gravel trap and rubber pebbles from the tires home as a souvenir.  Probably not supposed to, but hey.
We saw all the cars being inspected in parc ferme which was cool and then walked around the track to exit at T19.
Traffic getting out was hell, but my dad wanted air conditioning, which was in the car.  So….  I'd recommend doing something during that time like going up in the tower or doing other experiences or just hanging out.  Let the traffic die down.
We flew out the next morning.  TSA was packed and took some time so I advise getting there at least 3 hours early or more.  I have precheck and it was still an ordeal.
So all around a fantastic weekend that I will cherish forever.  My dad was even tolerable if not even enjoyable to be around, so the whole thing about fathers and their gay sons and Motorsports brings people together. Blah blah blah.
Anyway, if you have any questions feel free to drop an ask or send a DM.  I plan on pretty much leaving Tumblr after this post, but I'll leave my email notifications on and I'll hopefully get back to you.  If you want to see some pictures I took, search the tag OFL goes to Austin.
Hope this was informative!!

“Ah, shit,“ Elle muttered, lugging a suitcase with one hand and using her cane with the other. “I double-booked myself, didn’t I-- wait, no, that was in Alola, but I don’t know what island....“
Lola gave a low trill, nudging her with a fin, and Elle gave a tired smile to her pokemon. “Right. I should do this one thing at a time, then? Meet Rian here at the airport. Go to Alola, figure out where to meet Ren and company. Ren and cousins. I should make a checklist-- ughhhhh, I need more hands!”
Downsides of being a cane user: always needing more hands. Still, she wouldn’t give it up for anything. She leaned slightly towards Lola, bonked heads affectionately, and continued towards the seating where she’d wait for the plane. She was probably way early, but her anxiety had gotten the better of her, and she tended to run either early or late, never on time.
She picked a quiet spot on the edge of a row of vinyl folding seats, somewhere Rian would be able to park their chair and charge their electronics. Was that their real name, Rian? She went by Fluff online for privacy, but not everyone used a screen name.
See you soon! I’m at terminal B right now, already checked in and everything. She took a selfie so they’d recognize her, sent the message to Rian, and leaned back in the chair. Ugh, travel was stressful. She was going to see about getting a little treat or something on the flight.
Well, at least she’d be able to meet a friend soon. Friend? Was that the right word? She hoped they could be friends.

The trail gradually ascends, with spectacular views of snow-capped mountains.
Visit the ancient Kyanjin Gompa monastery and the local cheese factory.

Spend the afternoon exploring the village and surrounding areas.
Taste the locally made yak cheese.
Day 6: Acclimatization Day in Kyanjin Gompa
