really cool design for a cat who, i cannot stress enough, is not even mentioned by name in the story he exists in. he died years before it started and his importance is nonexistent
#rio art#his name is boldstar btw hes the father of gildedstar (who became leader purely due to nepotism) and he was murdered before the story even#starts. and he is never even mentioned but he lives in my brain <33

C for the alphabet and oc name thingy! :3
Something tells me you were fishing for a Catchingbird!
Catchingbird started her life in Windclan, sole daughter of the clan’s deputy Redflower. Redflower was a... demanding mother, to put it lightly, and expected the most out of her daughter, even as a kit. Catchingbird couldn’t keep up, and when she was apprenticed to her mother, it only became harder, especially with her less than ideal eyesight that was sensitive to the sun. Her constant headaches turned to migraines, painful to the point where she couldn’t leave her nest.
Enough was enough, and she personally talked to their leader, Boldstar about it, and ended up moving to Shadowclan to become a warrior there. She made friends, basically becoming sisters with Finchsong and Pineheart, and worked hard despite any setbacks.
Life as a warrior wasn’t very kind to her or anyone else there, time and time again the clan facing death at every corner from this or that, and it weighed heavily on her. She had a difficult time coping with everything, especially the death of another close friend, Chaosclaw (whom she felt she led to his death by encouraging him to join the clan along with her crush mate friend Salem).
Eventually, she came to the decision to leave the clans altogether, with Salem by her side. Together, they decided to become kittypets, and are currently searching for somewhere to live out the rest of her days. She doesn’t regret her decision, but she will always carry the guilt of abandoning Finchsong and Pineheart and the rest of Shadowclan.

I never knew I (and my country) English-ed differently until today
As a previous colony of the USA, the Philippines is in the “outer circle” portion of Brah Kachru’s circles model on the spread of English. I have always thought that Philippine English is the same as American English — obviously, with slight deviations in pronunciation and fluency, depending on how it is taught. But apparently, certain aspects of Philippine English —which I have found normal this whole time, by the way— is found only in Philippine English. Although the basic rules are mostly American (we follow complete American spelling, grammar, and, supposedly, pronunciation!), there are these prevalent little quirks that truly define the Filipino-ness of Philippine English.
For one, there are lexis that mean differently in Philippine English as compared to the rest of the world. Words like dirty ice cream doesn’t actually mean that the ice cream is dirty or unclean, instead, it refers to the ice cream that is sold by street-side vendors. The adjective bold can have a sexual/scandalous connotation: being a boldstar would mean being naked or having an occupation as an adult film industry actor. We use green-minded to refer to someone being pervy — not someone being environmentally or economically mindful. The rest of the world says restroom? Here, we say comfort room. CR as an acronym. You say fridge? We say ref.
Apparently, we’re also a fan of conjuring up new words and using well-known brands to refer to everyday items. We use the word holdupper to essentially refer to a person who commits holdups. A noticeable trait of Philippine English is the adding of the suffix “-er” to a verb in order to nominalise it. Meanwhile, things like Scotch tape, Rugby and Cutex are names of brands that are used to refer to adhesive tape, substances with strong smells which can make someone addicted to it, and nail polish in general.
There are actually a lot of food words in Philippine English that have also come from the other cultures and countries that are —or were— present in the country. Pandesal and ensaymada has Spanish origins, while Chinese foods like siomai, siopao, misua are a result of the assimilation of some parts of Chinese culture into the country due to the large population of Chinese-Filipinos in the Philippines.
The way a statement is typically structured in Philippine English is also different. Philippine English tends to be wordy. Most people would rather use a phrase comprising of several words than just a single word with the same meaning, saying things like “at this point in time” instead of “now” without finding anything wrong with it. In fact, we like redundancy! Saying “Have you eaten already?”, instead of just “Have you eaten?”.
The way we say dates are also unique. Unlike American English, Philippine English orders dates as a MM-DD-YYYY — much like British English. And, specific to the Philippines, dates like February 23 are read as February twenty-three, not the twenty-third of February. Even the way February would be pronounced is different too! Typically, it would be said like feb-ra-ry instead of the American pronunciation of feh-byoo-eh-ree.
In general, Philippine English is distinct when it comes to the pronunciation of certain sounds or syllables, influenced largely by Tagalog and other Filipino dialects spoken in the country. A common thing would be to switch out /f/ for /p/, but withholding the blowing part aspect of /p/. So a friend will sound like prend. The consonants /θ/ and /ð/ would be typically pronounced with a /t/ and /d/ sound respectively. So tree and three would sound alike, while that would sound like dat.
But again, as a variety of english that belongs to the outer circle of Kachru’s theory, Philippine English is still very much influenced by American and British English. The internet has allowed the coexistence and interaction between these two varieties of English, leading to the assimilation of meme expressions and slangs belonging to other English-es into Philippine English. Especially with the younger generation, everyone will understand you when you start saying things like flex, spill the tea, triggered, etc.

Silent Sanctuary
They entered the OPM (orginal Pilipino Music) scene in 2006 with their song “Rebound”, “Ikaw Lamang”, “Summer song”, “Kundiman”, and “Ingat ka”.

Hello, Tmblr!
Guess what?? May f2f class na kami! Hahahaha yabang!
So 'yun, pumasok na nga kami. First day nagdikdik kami ng tae haha char 1/2. Buti nalang rin at nakatae ako ng bongga dahil bring your own tae kami. Nakakapagod. Nakakainis pa kasi namantsahan ako no'ng lunch time. Wala kasing sakay pa-Express kaya nag-coke float muna kami at chumika.
Second day, naghanap kami ng parasites. Out of 16, mga 5 or 6 lang 'ata nahanap ko. Nahirapan talaga ako magdistinguish ng parasite kasi it looked the same sa other substances na nasa slides, plus hirap pa akong magfocus ng microscope. I'm just so grateful sa mga kaklase ko dahil they were giving me an answers.
I feel so restless. Masaya rin naman kapag may nakikita ako under the microscope or kapag nagagawa ko 'yung procedures... Pero at the end of the day, I didn't find the fulfillment that I was aiming for...
