debatable rarepairs but it would feel wrong not to mention them:
oisuga
kurodai
mikashou (they technically meet the fic count requirement but like. they're also canon. so i don't think it counts)
tsukkiyamakagehina ? idk how many fics they have. i think my perception of them being popular is skewed by my mutuals tbh. tsukkikage, tsukkihina, and yamayama fall individually under this btw. (didn't want to listen them all even though it's like. three)
i have gained an appreciation of tsukkihina through my mutuals thank u mutuals

cauldron bubble
I needed something to distract myself until trick or treats could start and @notsuchasecret gave me BokuDai+ accidental baby acquisition.  So here we go.
Click here to read on my blog and not on the dash (it’s almost 4k)
The cauldron in the fireplace rattles and Daichi gives it an unimpressed stare.
“Look,” he says as it shudders and clanks against its stand, “I don’t like doing my job sometimes either.  But do you see me wiggling and grumbling about it?  No.  Just calm down okay?”
The cauldron rattles again and then goes still.  Daichi has just enough time to smile in relief at the quiet before the contents suddenly start bubbling over the top of the cauldron.
“Shit,” he sighs.  Foam starts oozing down the side of the cauldron and dripping into the fire, causing it to spit and crackle menacingly.  “Well that’s not good.”
He grabs a poker from next to the fireplace and taps at the cauldron cautiously.  It’s not supposed to do this.  Nothing he put into the cauldron should make it do this.  Why is it doing this?  Maybe he shouldn’t have gotten a used cauldron.  But the new ones are so expensive and after already having to replace most of his ingredients, two pairs of enchanted gloves, and his favorite formal scarf in the last two weeks he had been running a little short on funds.
The fire goes out with a puff of smoke and Daichi eyes the cauldron warily.  If it explodes it’ll probably take out his entire fireplace.  Which would suck.  Because he does not have the budget for extensive home repairs right now.  Clearly.  Seeing as how he’s using a discounted, pre-owned, gently used cauldron that’s probably actually some cursed object of some kind.  Which would actually pretty much be par for the course in terms of how his life has been going these last few months.
The cauldron rattles.
“I don’t think it’s supposed to do that.”  Daichi whirls at the voice in his ear, heart thumping wildly in his chest and fire poker raised like a weapon.  A warm hand catches his wrist before he can do any damage with said poker.  Unfortunately.
“Koutarou how many times have I told you not to sneak up on me like that?”
Koutarou tilts his head and grins.  “But it’s just how I am.  I sneak.  I’m a sneaky sneak.”
“You’re a giant pain in my—”
The cauldron hits the floor with a bang and they watch as it rolls across the floor towards them.  It rolls to a wobbly stop a few steps away and they glance at each other.  Daichi taps the cauldron again with the fire poker in his hand.  Something inside the cauldron taps back.
“What did you put in there?” Koutarou whines in his ear.
“Nothing that should be able to do that.”
The cauldron wobbles again and Daichi raises the fire poker defensively.  The cauldron tips over and a bundle of blankets tumbles out of it.  A wriggling bundle of blankets.  Daichi and Koutarou shuffle backwards and the bundle of blankets wriggles towards them.  They shuffle again and the blankets wriggle faster.  Koutarou’s back hits the wall and Daichi’s back hits Koutarou and the blankets wriggle and wriggle and wriggle and—
“Is that a baby?”  Koutarou peers over Daichi’s shoulder curiously.  “Why did you put a baby in your cauldron?”
“I did not put a baby in my cauldron.”
“Then why is there a baby in your cauldron?”
The baby in question crawls towards them and pats questioningly at Daichi’s foot.
“I don’t know.  Nothing I put in there should have produced a baby.”
The baby peers up at them and giggles.
“Then where did it come from?”
“I.  Don’t.  Know.”  The baby blinks at his irritated tone and it’s chin starts to wobble and Daichi sucks in a sharp breath.  “No no no,” he hushes as he crouches down.  “It’s okay.  I’m not upset with you at all.”  The baby blinks some more and reaches up towards Daichi.  It coos happily when Daichi picks it up and stands.  “See.  It’s okay.”
“You’re a natural,” Koutarou says.  He reaches over Daichi’s shoulder and taps gently at the baby’s nose.  The baby giggles and then sneezes out a cloud of sparkles.  Then it giggles at the sparkles.  It reaches for them and Daichi spots something shiny hanging from it’s tiny neck.
He and Koutarou both reach for it, fingers brushing the warm surface.  He should have known better.  After all one of the first rules they’re taught is not to touch strange objects.
And yet.
Warmth sweeps through him as the magic in the medallion searches out his own and settles into place.  The baby in his arms giggles and pats at his arms.
“Um,” Koutarou mutters.  “Do we have to tell Akaashi?  Cause I think he might get mad at me.  I’m not sure what we just did but I definitely feel like it’s something Akaashi will scold me for.”
“I won’t tell Akaashi so long as you don’t tell Suga.”
“Deal.”
Daichi adjusts the bundle slung across his chest and knocks for a third time.
“Asahi,” he calls softly.  “I know you’re home.  Please let me in.”
“I know that tone,” Asahi calls back, just as soft.  “You did something and want to drag me into it.”
“Come on Asahi.”  He doesn’t beg.  But he might whine a little bit.  Which apparently works because Asahi’s door swings open and Daichi steps inside.
Asahi barely even glances up from the fabric spread across his table as Daichi pads into his workroom.  Daichi hovers in the door, uncertain if his magic would disturb whatever Asahi is working on.  He only needed to make the mistake of messing up Asahi’s work once to learn his lesson.  So he just shifts from side to side, slowly rocking the bundle against his chest, and watches Asahi work.  The gentle ebb and flow of Asahi’s magic as he turns the fabric piles into a really intricate bag soothes Daichi.  Sometimes he forgets, in the chaos of loving Koutarou, just how soft other people’s magic can be.
Asahi finally finishes the bag and pushes himself up from the table.
“What did you do?”
“Okay you can’t tell Suga.”
Asahi narrows his eyes.  “I won’t go running to him.  But if he asks me I’m not going to lie to him.  Not even for you Daichi.”
“That’s fair.”  Daichi gestures out of the room and Asahi follows him.  “So.  Here’s the thing.”  He explains what had happened, from the used cauldron right up to the magic of the medallion washing over him and Koutarou, and Asahi just listens quietly, gaze flickering down to the bundle against Daichi’s chest a few times.
“Okay,” Asahi says slowly.  “So you used this pre-owned cauldron and somehow summoned a baby and then you and Koutarou both touched the mysterious medallion around it’s neck and felt some kind of, I’m guessing, binding magic lock into place around you three.”
Daichi grins sheepishly.  “Yeah.  That about sums it up.”
“And you don’t want to tell Suga.”
“No.  I do not.”
“And you want me to do what?”
“Help me figure out if it’s just a human baby or if it’s, you know, extra magicky?”  Daichi continues before Asahi can even open his mouth.  “And yes I know that Suga would probably be a better choice but Suga is still kind of upset with me over the whole eye of newt Incident and I really don’t want to risk him trying to actually, literally, turn me into a sentient mushroom like he keeps threatening to do.  So please help me?”
Asahi stares at Daichi long enough that Daichi starts to squirm.
Asahi groans.  “Give me the baby.”
“Thank you,” Daichi sighs.  “Thank you.”
He hands over the baby and watches as it coos and grabs at Asahi’s long hair, immediately trying to shove the strands into its mouth.  Asahi laughs softly and gently pries his hair free, giving the baby his finger to gnaw on instead.  He hums softly as his magic fills the air around them all.  Daichi closes his eyes and lets the magic wash over him.
“Congratulations,” Asahi eventually says.  Daichi pries his eyes open.  “You and Koutarou are the proud parents of a baby human.”
“Parents?”
“The magic of the medallion was a sort of adoption bind.  This little guy’s magic sees you two as his caregivers and will continue to do so until he is of age or is claimed by his biological family.”  Asahi smiles down at the baby.  “Do you have the medallion on you?”
Daichi hands over the medallion and takes the baby.  He’s a parent.  He, the man who just a few weeks ago nearly set fire to his cabin because he got distracted by the crows outside the window, is a parent.  Is responsible for a tiny little human.  Holy shit.  Not just him.  He and Koutarou.  He loves the man dearly but Koutarou is even more of a disaster than Daichi is.
They’re both responsible for a baby.
Daichi looks up at Asahi in a panic that Asahi, the jerk of a friend he is, laughs when he catches sight of Daichi’s face.
“Well at least you don’t have to name him.  According to the medallion he’s called Kei.”
Daichi watches Kei crawl across the floor, chasing the colorful reflections of the wind chime hanging up outside the window.  He and Koutarou had tried childproofing his cabin once they realized Kei would be with them for awhile.  They had started softening corners and locking drawers and enchanting the nooks and crannies.  It had all been going well until they turned around and found Kei suddenly inside the glass front cabinet that Daichi stored his ingredients in that had been — and still was — locked.  Then a few minutes later Kei was sitting in Daichi’s cauldron on top of the workbench.  After that he and Koutarou had decided that childproofing the cabin was probably a bit of a waste of time with whatever magic Kei seemed to have and it wasn’t like Daichi really got up to anything too wild or left any dangerous tomes lying around that just anyone could stumble over and accidentally read and summon a demon like some of his friends were wont to do.
Kei seems content to crawl around and pat at the colors on the floor for the time being so Daichi spreads out a pile of papers on his table and starts skimming through them.  He’s got three different research projects going on that he needs to start getting sorted out and now is the perfect time in his mind.  It’s not like he’s about to start wandering around the woods or into town with some random baby that he kind of maybe somehow summoned in his pre-owned cauldron.  He could do without a random kidnapping charge on his record or dealing with a hundred questions about where he got a baby all of a sudden thanks very much.
He pauses in the middle of leafing through a small pile of notes on enchanted toadstools in the western part of the woods and wonders if maybe he should get hold of Suga even though he already got the info he needed out of Asahi.  Suga’s a hunter.  He knows things.  Maybe he would know where the baby came from if nothing else.
“Hey babe,” Koutarou says, stepping out of the shadows in the corner.  Daichi throws the large spellbook he’s been referencing at Koutarou on instinct.  Koutarou, of course, catches it easily.
“Bokuto,” Daichi hisses.
“I’m home?”  Kei makes a happy noise and crawls towards them as Koutarou kisses Daichi’s cheek in greeting.  “How are my two favorite guys doing?”
“I don’t know.  How are Kuroo and Akaashi doing today?”
“Ouch.”  Koutarou gives him a betrayed pout as he picks Kei up and cuddles him to his chest.  It shouldn’t be endearing at all but it is.  It really, really is and Daichi is a weak, weak man when it comes to Bokuto Koutarou and, apparently, little baby Kei in his arms.  “That’s harsh.”
Daichi rolls his eyes but tells Koutarou about their day.
Daichi doesn’t mean to not tell most of his friends about the baby.  Really he doesn’t.  But he was already kind of a hermit before the whole pre-owned cauldron baby summoning thing and his cabin is really deep into the woods.  Then Kei came along and, really, Daichi felt it was better for his sanity to not have to explain to a mob of angry townspeople that he suddenly had a baby in his care and had no idea how that happened.  So he just… stays home.  He takes on a lot of research projects and writes tome after tome on bizarre theories and niche arcane magic.  He visits with Asahi and Kuroo through various spells and channels.  He throws things when Koutarou appears out of thin air like the sneaky jerk he is and before he knows it over two years have passed.
Koutarou can never stay for too incredibly long.  But that’s okay because Daichi knows that no matter how soon Koutarou has to leave he will always come back to Daichi.  Well.  Daichi and Kei now.
He hears Kei and Koutarou laughing and he smiles to himself.  Nothing had been missing or wrong before but the moment Kei came into their lives something had clicked into place, a puzzle piece they had never realized there was room for.
Small thuds sound through the cabin and Daichi turns in time to watch Kei come running into the room, nimble as any three year old can be, and spot him.
“Oh no!” Kei yells.  “’tarou’s coming!”
“He is?”  Daichi gasps in concern.  “Do we need to hide?”
Kei shakes his head but makes a beeline for Daichi, crawling into his lap and burying his face against Daichi’s neck.
“You keep me safe.”
Daichi’s chest tightens with emotion.  “Of course I will,” he whispers.  “I’ll always keep you safe.”
“Good.”  Kei wriggles closer when they hear Koutarou’s heavy footsteps approaching.  Daichi knows it’s all for show — Koutarou can be completely silent when he chooses to be after all — but he plays it up for Kei’s benefit.  He gasps quietly and hugs Kei tighter.  He holds his breath when Koutarou’s footsteps stop outside his door.
He yelps and kicks Koutarou’s shin when he suddenly appears next to them out of thin air instead of coming through the door.
“Koutarou,” he hisses.
Koutarou and Kei laugh in unison and Daichi groans when he realizes he’d just been set up.
“Got you,” Kei crows happily, face still smushed into Daichi’s neck.
“Got you,” Koutarou teases, pressing a kiss to Daichi’s cheek in apology.
After a moment Daichi turns his head and Koutarou obliges his silent request and kisses his lips softly.  “Just what are you teaching our son,” he mutters against Koutarou’s lips.
“How to be an amazing sneaky sneak like his dad.  Just like you’ll teach him to be an amazing researcher who blows stuff up once we get him reading.”  Koutarou kisses him again.  “Between you and me we’ll make our boy unstoppable.”
Daichi kisses Koutarou softly, gently, nothing more than expressing their love for each other, until Kei starts squirming.
“Before we make him truly unstoppable I think he needs a snack.”  Kei stills for a moment and then squirms harder.  “How does some strawberry cake sound Kei?”
“Please!”  Kei slides off Daichi’s lap and flies out of the room as fast as he can run.  “Cake!  Please!”
“You spoil him,” Koutarou murmurs against Daichi’s lips.
“So do you,” Daichi murmurs back.
“No kiss!”  They break apart and share a laugh when they look to the door and see Kei peering in with a pout.  “Cake please!”
Kei is just short of five years old the first time Daichi catches him trying to read one of his spellbooks.  He promptly takes it away and gives Kei something closer to his skill level.
(A week later Kei has found the spellbook again and nothing Daichi does convinces him to return it.)
Kei is seven when he and Koutarou shuffle into the cabin, both covered in vines and leaves and a mysterious ooze that Daichi chooses not to recognize.  Koutarou gives Daichi a brilliant grin that, after a moment, Kei mimics with startling accuracy.
“We finished the contract,” they both say cheerfully and Daichi’s heart twists wickedly in his chest.
Kei is eight and a half when he narrows his eyes in concentration and Daichi’s kitchen window shatters into thousands of pieces.
“Oh,” Kei says, eyes wide and surprised.  “I think I read it wrong.”
Daichi peers over Kei’s shoulder and shakes his head.  “I think we need to get you glasses.”
Kei is just a little over nine when he stares up at the starry sky through the trees and asks Daichi, “Why are you so sad sometimes?  Who are you missing?”
Daichi swallows hard, heart suddenly trying to climb up his throat, and pulls Kei into his lap.  Kei struggles playfully but sinks happily into Daichi’s hug a moment later.
“An old friend,” Daichi answers truthfully.  “I haven’t seen him in a long time.  Sometimes it feels like he just vanished without a trace.”
Kei nods and twists so he can look into Daichi’s eyes.  For a moment Daichi feels like he’s looking into the eyes of someone much, much older.  Then Kei blinks and grins and Daichi is looking into the face of a nine year old again.
“I’m sure you’ll see him again soon.  Nobody really ever vanishes.”
Daichi can hear something rattling and he glances around the cabin, trying to place the noise.  The noise gets louder and he stands cautiously.  The last time he heard something like this a baby had popped out of a cauldron.  He eyes the fireplace warily but he had replaced that pre-owned cauldron years ago with a brand new, never used one and shoved the pre-owned monstrosity in a cupboard.
Kei steps into the cabin and hangs up his jacket and the rattling gets even louder.  He looks up, golden eyes flashing behind his glasses in the early morning light, and frowns.
“What is that?”
He’s eleven years old and nearly as tall as Daichi with a sharp mind and even sharper tongue and Daichi couldn’t be prouder of him.  Especially in moments like these when the rattling grows so loud the cupboards start shaking and Kei simply raises his brows and shifts himself into a stance Daichi knows Koutarou had taught him.  Easy to defend himself or launch an attack if needed.
“I’m not sure,” Daichi says loudly, trying to talk over the rattling.  “Let’s find out.”
It’s, obviously, the cupboard with the damned cauldron in it and Daichi has enough time to wonder just why he hasn’t gotten rid of it yet before the cauldron explodes in a cloud of smoke and dust and shadows and broken shards flying at him.  The shards bounce harmlessly off the shield Kei throws up as he steps in front of Daichi and Daichi waves away the smoke and dust.
“Was that—?”
“Yeah,” Daichi answers.  “Your cauldron.”
They had never lied to Kei about the cauldron, about how they got him, about how his magic adopted them.  And he had accepted it with the grace of a child, curious but never overly worried about it.  Now Daichi wonders if maybe they all should have been a little more worried, a little more proactive in finding out about the cauldron and the baby that had crawled out of it.
A knock sounds at the door and they share a cautious look.  When they don’t immediately react there’s more knocking, louder and more insistent, and Daichi sighs.  It’s been over a decade but he recognizes that knock.  He gestures for Kei to stay in the kitchen, out of sight, and makes his was towards the door.
“Come in Suga,” he calls out.  “The door is always unlocked for you.  You know that.”
The door swings open and Suga stands in the doorway, leaves swirling around his feet noisily.
“Do I?” Suga asks.  “It seems there’s a lot I don’t know about you Daichi.  Like the fact that you and Bokuto have a child.”
Daichi laughs awkwardly.  “Yeah.  About that—”
Suga shakes his head and raises his hand, cutting Daichi off.
“About eleven years old.  Golden eyes.  Slightly curly blond hair.  Probably tall for his age.”  Daichi glances over his shoulder but Kei is still tucked out of sight.  He turns back to Suga.  “Fairly pale skin, sunburns easily.  Magic that has the potential to overpower even yours.  Sound about right?”
“Um.”
The leaves are still swirling around Suga’s feet so Daichi doesn’t step any closer.  Suga has never hurt him and he doesn’t think he ever would.  But it’s been ten years since they saw each other and Suga looks really, really irritated with Daichi.
“You magicked a baby out of a cauldron Daichi!”
“I didn’t mean to!”  Suga glares at him and Daichi makes a helpless gesture.  “He just kind of appeared!  How do you know all this anyway?”
Suga sighs heavily, like the entire world is on his shoulders and he’s disappointed in everything everywhere ever, and steps into the cabin.  Standing behind him is Kei.  No.  It’s a young man who looks a lot like Kei.  He’s got the same chin and nose and eyes, though his are a little darker than Kei’s.  His hair isn’t quite as unruly as Kei’s but it’s the same pale blond color.
“This is Akiteru,” Suga explains.  “He came to me about six months ago, not long after he turned sixteen.  Now that he’s of age with his magic and on his own he asked me to help him find his little brother.”
There’s a shuffling noise behind him and Akiteru’s eyes widen as Kei steps out of the kitchen and stops at Daichi’s side.   Daichi pulls Kei into a side hug and can feel the way he trembles ever so slightly.  He meets Suga’s eyes and—
Koutarou steps into existence at Daichi’s other side, already talking.
“You’ll never believe what’s— Oh.  Suga.  Hi.”  Suga’s eyes narrow.  “Shit.”
The bits and pieces of the cauldron scattered around the kitchen begin to rattle and clank against the floor behind him and Daichi braces himself for whatever is going to happen next.

Bokuto x Daichi snippet
(I found this while going through my google docs and trying to organize them.  It was cute and I have a mighty need to share the BokuDai since it is such a rarepair.)
This was going to be their first kiss.  It wasn’t like Daichi didn’t want to kiss his boyfriend, but he’d never dated someone so...tall before.  In the realm of limited dating experience, he’d actually never dated anyone taller than himself, let alone a guy who was just as bulky muscle-wise as Daichi was.  And Daichi even managed to grow a whole extra centimeter and a half during his first year of college.  But so had his partner, so they were still nine centimeters apart.
Daichi hooked a hand around Koutarou’s neck.  Their college’s star wing spiker was turning very red as he hunched over enough to make his mouth accessible, but then Kou opened his mouth and managed to ruin it.
“You’re so short, Daichi,” Koutarou said with a chuckle.  “Like, I know you aren’t short, but it feels…”
Daichi popped into his commanding mode for a moment, “Kou, stop.  Do not finish that sentence and just kiss me, okay?”
“Oh, yeah.  Sure, sure,” Koutarou said as he smirked down at Daichi.
Daichi swore that they’d be sitting on the couch at his apartment for their second kiss to level the height playing field.  He really did hope that this first kiss would be good enough to warrant a second kiss.  Kou was definitely Daichi’s type--athletic, kind, and even the tall thing was really growing on him.
Koutarou leaned in very slowly and carefully pressed his lips to Daichi’s lips.  Kou’s hands cupped Daichi’s cheeks and tipped him up so they could deepen the kiss.  It went from gentle to enthusiastic in a heartbeat, and Daichi realized how much he liked having Koutarou’s tongue in his mouth.
Kou pulled away and gave Daichi a hopeful look, “Yeah?  It was good, right?”
Daichi grabbed the front of Kou’s t-shirt and tugged him back down.  “Yes,” he said before kissing his boyfriend again.

Fic Rec Week One
So it’s author appreciation day and I almost completely missed it! I started making a masterlist of all my favorite stories and realized how long it was turning out to be so I decided to do mini-fic rec lists each week to spotlight awesome stories I love!
1. Caught by @audriel89
I’m literally stopping myself from going back to re-read this story so I can finish this list (and then go back and re-read it).  Audriel is basically the reason I resurrected this old tumblr after years of neglect just so I could talk to her because she’s an amazing and wonderful person, but you know what else she is? A crazy good writer too. She builds worlds that I just want 10 seasons and a movie, I want to see it and be there. I want a theme park made from it, all of it.  And ‘Caught’ is everything I could ever ask for in a story.  The banter, the (not so) subtle flirting, Kuroo being a badass, Daichi being a badass, them being badasses together! And then the end. I won’t give it it away in case you haven’t read it but my god is this story all the things and more.
2. Rescue From Neverland by @stacysmash
Listen, if you’re itching for AUs that involve books/movies/shows, you go and visit her because she’s got the stuff, the real good stuff.  Okay enough of the drug metaphors but honestly?  Kind of addicted to her writing, kind of have to stop myself from reading her new stories during work (kind of fail at that everytime). When I first saw this story I was pretty intrigued, a Peter Pan AU for KuroDai?  Awesome.  But then I realized that it was a Hook AU and had to put my phone down for a second to bless @stacysmash little heart. I love that movie and she manages to capture the child-like but dangerous edge that the movie had perfectly! Also Kuroo as Hook is just so great.  Who doesn’t stand by Kuroo as a captain with a hook hand?
3. the water’s just right by @spring-emerald
If you’re looking for something that is going to make you smile like an idiot in public, look no further! Kuroo unable to be cool for like a nanosecond and Daichi still being attracted to the giant goofball is my weakness.  The banter in this story is so well done, it’s perfectly drawing from the relationship between Daichi and Kuroo that is canon but adding that extra bit that all us KuroDai lovers absolutely cherish.  Also the younger Sawamura’s are just too cute for words, plus Kai and Yaku being So Done with everything Kuroo is one of my favorite things to read.  Mutual pining for these two are common but spring manages to make it that more entertaining and her stories are just a joy to read!
4. Familiar by @kathwolfie
I’m nearly positive this is the story that got me into BokuDai and what an honestly lovely way to be introduced? I thought I was KuroDai all the way but @kathwolfie just gently knocked me over the side of the head with this story and made me fall in love with everything BokuDai.  This story though?  This story is fantastic.  It is so soft and comfortable, there is a level of trust and a bond already there at the beginning between the two that just makes you sigh as you continue reading, like some character from a Jane Austen novel, looking out the window as you read a letter from your soldier. (or something like that) It’s amazing and I love, love reading Daichi from Bokuto’s point of view. He’s all over the place but he knows he can count on Daichi. Love it!
5. Simply the best by @vikingpoteto
This story is amazing.  I am in love with every word, all 6309 of them.  I had never seen Miraculous Lady Bug before this but after I went and watched it and now I love both, the story and the show.  That way the author matured the story to fit the more adult versions of the HQ! characters was so well done.  How Daichi takes care of Kuroo, who only expects the worst in people even though he’s out there risking his life for them is soooo amazingly well written.  I am a huge sucker for a hurt/comfort type of story and this is all that and more!  Add in heroes and villains with powers and it just makes for a great story that anyone who loved KuroDai will be sure to enjoy and love just as much as I do.

bokuto’s birthday
bc i don’t have the time or inspiration to write, here’s all the fics I would write for my beautiful good boy if only I did (from my twitter)
bokuroo they have a hilariously awkward date and then some really clumsy fumbly sex where they can't stop giggling and getting distracted
bokuaka akaashi indulges bokuto's oral fixation and fucks his mouth until he's gasping, then turns him over and eats him out for ages
oiboku they make out at a party and end up dryhumping in front of everyone before retreating to a bedroom for some slow, lazy drunk sex
iwaboku iwa throws bokuto over his shoulder and carries him to bed, then holds him down while he rides his dick and bokuto whimpers a lot
bokusuga starts with sixty-nining. they have sex like 3 times, they're unstoppable. neither of them can walk straight the next day.
bokuhina bokuto gets the dicking of his life from the tiniest top he's ever met
bokutsukki long lazy makeouts and grinding against each other on the couch until they're almost coming, then cooling off and starting over
bokudai bokuto goin down on daichi and fingering him real good while daichi pulls his hair and moans shamelessly. then they swap.
bokuten tendou sucking bokuto off but not letting him come and edging him for *hours* before finally fucking him and letting him get off
ushiboku real romantic, slow at first until they get each other worked up and then it's just bokuto drilling ushi through the mattress
bokuken some real lowkey edging from kenma mixed with bokuto alternating between cuddly and basically worshipping kenma's cock w his mouth
teruboku a hot mess. they try something really adventurous, fall off the bed, spend half the night in A&E. there are blowjobs afterward.

Mini Fic Request: BokuDai, prompt-first kiss
This was going to be their first kiss.  It wasn’t like Daichi didn’t want to kiss his boyfriend, but he’d never dated someone so…tall before.  In the realm of his limited dating experience, he’d actually never dated anyone taller than himself, let alone a guy who was just as bulky muscle-wise as Daichi was.
Kou was definitely Daichi’s type–athletic, kind, and even the tall thing was really growing on him.

“Just tell why you did it!” “Because I’m in love with you, okay!” BokuDai, please!
Daichi runs a hand through his hair and gulps nervously. Normally confrontation isn’t a big deal to him. Normally he just takes a deep breath and faces whatever is coming. Normally he’s not watching Koutarou pace the length of his kitchen, eyes narrowed as he shoots Daichi glances.
“Just tell me why you did it!”
This thing between him has been brewing for forever. Every look, every touch, every shared laugh, every whispered word piling on top of each other like storm clouds rolling in across the sky. Building, growing ever taller and more intimidating with each moment. Each step Koutarou takes across his kitchen floor is another cloud edging closer and closer until he stops suddenly and Daichi slowly meets his gaze.
“Just tell me why,” Koutarou says, the calm before the storm.
“Because I’m in love with you, okay!” Daichi’s voice cracks through the kitchen and the storm clouds burst. “I fell in love with you and every time I saw you I felt like I was falling all over again and I panicked and I ran because that’s what I’ve always been good at: running away from my problems.”
“I was a problem?” Koutarou’s quiet in a way that Daichi never would have associated with him before, well, just before. That quiet makes Daichi’s fingers go cold and he reaches out before he remembers that Koutarou isn’t his to touch.
“You?” He drops his hand to his lap. “No, never. The fact that I loved you? A bit yeah.”
“Why was it a problem?”
“You were a starter for the university team. You were on your way to being pro. The last thing you needed was me distracting you from your goals.”
Koutarou tilts his head and just stares at Daichi. Stares at him so long that for a moment Daichi wonders if some vital switch in Koutarou’s brain had been flipped or something. Then he blinks a few times and frowns that stupidly adorable little frown that’s not quite a pout but close.
“Tetsu and Morisuke have been together since they were seventeen,” Koutarou says. That… wasn’t what Daichi had expected to hear at all.
“They have,” he agrees slowly, trying to figure out where Koutarou is going with it.
“Is Tetsu a distraction for Morisuke?  Do you think?”  Oh fuck.  He opens his mouth but Koutarou doesn’t give him a chance to speak.  “Did he distract Morisuke from his university team?  From his shot at going pro?  Did Morisuke distract Tetsu from his studies?  Do they distract each other now?  Or did they stay at each other’s sides no matter what, no matter how much they fought and argued and bickered about things?  You say you loved my but you left me Daichi.  One of my best friends just up and disappeared from my life.”
“Love,” Daichi mutters before he can stop himself.  Koutarou gives him a questioning look.  “Love,” Daichi repeats, “not loved.  I never stopped loving you.”
“And yet I haven’t seen you for almost four years.”
“I… I had to leave.  I had to.”  He looks into Koutarou’s eyes and practically begs him to understand through that look.  “I had to leave so I could figure myself out.  Figure out how to be someone worthy of you.”
Koutarou’s gaze goes soft at his words and he lets out a familiar noise of surprise and worry before he crosses the kitchen and holds his arms open in invitation.
“Oh Daichi,” he says kindly as Daichi shuffles into his embrace.  “The only thing you’ve ever had to do to be ‘worthy’ of me was just be.  Be yourself.  Be Daichi.”
Koutarou’s hug is warm and comforting and Daichi rubs his nose against Koutarou’s shoulder a couple times before tucking his face into the crook of Koutarou’s neck.
“Some days I still don’t know how to be Daichi,” he admits against the warm skin of Koutarou’s neck.
“That’s okay.  Just.  Even if you don’t know how to be Daichi know that I want you here with me.  We have a lot of shit to talk about but yeah.  Stay?”
Daichi burrows even deeper into Koutarou’s embrace and Koutarou hums in contentment.
“Yeah,” Daichi says softly.  “I think staying sounds pretty good.”

“Flea markets don’t carry fleas, you know?” Bokuto and Daichi
under a cut cause it’s about 1400 words
Grey clouds are starting to creep in by the time Daichi even makes it to the flea market.  It’s been a long week and he’s only here because he promised Suga he’d look for some pieces for Suga’s latest woodworking project.  Suga is, unfortunately for Daichi, stuck in his apartment with a broken ankle and Daichi is, fortunately for Suga, far too damn nice of a friend and willing to do his bidding.  At least he’s not making Daichi do his laundry.  Once was enough.  As much as he loves the guy Daichi never needs to be that involved with Suga’s underwear ever again.
He shakes his head and walks through the vendors set up, eyes darting here and there as he searches for things that might catch Suga’s interest even if they aren’t the exact thing he’s looking for.  He’s just putting back a strange little figurine made out of metal scraps when he feels someone’s presence behind him.  He nods politely to the vendor and turns around, expecting one of his friends to be hovering behind him, ready to poke fun at him for being here.  Instead he spots a friendly looking man with fluffy, two-toned hair and a grin on his face.
He can’t help but return the grin with a polite smile of his own.
The man glances past Daichi and then lets his gaze drift over the market around them.  Then he sighs and gives Daichi a conspiratorial glance.
“Flea markets don’t carry fleas, you know?”  His voice is a little softer than Daichi expects.  Something about the man just screams boisterous laughter in Daichi’s head.
Daichi glances around the market too.  Takes in the soft clamor of hundreds of people mingling and wandering and haggling.  He meets the man’s eyes and is a little surprised by the expectant look in his eyes.  Like he’s waiting on bated breath for Daichi’s response.
Normally right now he would smile politely and walk away.  But he’s had a long week and honestly this stranger’s smile and odd words are pretty much the best thing to happen to him all week and yes he knows how sad that is.  But it is what it is.  So he simply smiles back and gives in to the expectant puppy dog eyes.
“Well if not fleas then what do they carry?”
Apparently it’s the right answer because the man’s grin increases tenfold and Daichi feels momentarily blinded by it.  Then the man slips something into his hand and disappears into the crowd before Daichi can register what happened.  He searches the crowd but can’t find a trace of that two-toned hair anywhere.  The phone left in his hand buzzes with an incoming text and he looks at it in confusion.
What the hell just happened?
Daichi pauses at the corner.  He stands in a patch of sunlight - rare and warm for this time of the year - and debates his choices: if he turns left he’ll be on his way to Suga’s place, if he turns right he’ll be heading towards the address that had been in the text he had received on the mystery phone.  He pulls said mystery phone out of his pocket and stares at it.  He’s not going to lie.  He’s curious.  Curious about the cheerful man who had slipped it to him and curious about the odd sentence he had said.  He’s curious what’s waiting at the address.  An online search led him nowhere.  It was just a house on a street.  Nothing special.
He pulls his own phone out of his other pocket and taps it against his chin.  Suga is waiting for him.  But he can also hear Suga’s teasing and disappointment if Daichi gives up this chance at ‘an epic adventure Daichi go out and do something fun and spontaneous once in awhile sheesh’ if he doesn’t check it out.
So he sends Suga a message that he’ll be a little late, pockets both phones, and turns right.
He has no idea what he’s expecting to find when he reaches the address.  But somehow it wasn’t a neatly kept house at the end of a block of similar neatly kept houses.  He catches sight of a curtain shifting in one of the windows and he hesitates for only a moment before heading up to the door.  Again.  He has no idea what he’s expecting when he knocks on the door.  And once again what he sees is somehow not anything he expects.
A guy with messy black hair and a bored looking expression on his face opens the door and gives Daichi a once over.
“Can I help you?”  His voice is neutral at best but his blueish gray eyes are sharp and Daichi doubts they miss a single detail about him.
“I kind of found this phone earlier and I feel like it’s not supposed to belong to me.”  He has no idea why he phrases it that way.  Other than the fact that he gets distracted by a flash of black and white two-toned hair behind the man in the doorway.  He holds the phone out and the guy in the door takes a deep breath.
“You kind of found the phone?”
“Uh.  Yeah.”
He takes a deep breath again.  “Bokuto!” he yells down the hall, eyes still raking over Daichi.
“He said the phrase,” a voice calls back.  “I promise he did!”
“This is why we don’t let Bokuto do drops,” another voice says softly and Daichi startles.  He hadn’t even realized someone was standing behind him.  He glances over his shoulder and sees bright gold eyes peering at him from behind a curtain of blonde hair sticking out from under a stocking cap.  “At least he looks vaguely like the other guy was supposed to.”
“Kenma you’re not supposed to be outside.”  The guy in the door scolds.
“And you’re not supposed to be out of bed Akaashi,” Kenma replies.  “And Bokuto isn’t supposed to do drops.  And Kuroo shouldn’t be near windows right now.  Looks like we’re all being bad today.”
Akaashi blinks and then turns on his heel.  “Kuroo,” he shouts down the hallway, “if I find you anywhere you’re not supposed to be I will personally murder you.”
Daichi isn’t sure if he should apologize.  Or leave.  Or wait for someone to come back.  Or move out of Kenma’s way.  He isn’t sure what the hell is going on and he’s not entirely sure he wants to.
He feels a hand on his back and he startles but lets Kenma push him into the house and kick the door shut behind them.
“You already know too much to just send you home,” Kenma says like it’s an explanation.  “So come on in I guess.”  He kicks off his shoes and wanders away, leaving Daichi standing in the entryway.
He still has no idea what the hell just happened.
Bokuto drops his arm over Daichi’s shoulders and tugs him down the sidewalk.
“Come on.  You don’t wanna be late.”
Honestly being late isn’t really something he’s worried about.  Suga doesn’t scare him the way he seems to scare the others.  Then again he’s known Suga since they were seven so he has more dirt on Suga than the others.  And Suga likes him more.
Suga opens his door with a grin and pulls Daichi into a hug.
“I still can’t believe that I sent you out to pick me up some woodworking stuff and you manage to stumble your way into a spy ring,” Suga says as he pulls Daichi down the hall to the kitchen.  Bokuto whines at the loss of Daichi by his side but he wanders away to the living room where the others are.
“I would say I can’t believe that you were already part of a spy ring but, honestly?  Not that surprising.”  Suga grins at him again.
“See this is why you’re my favorite.  You’re sharper than you pretend.  And you’re nice to look at.  And you carry big pieces of furniture around for me.”
He helps Suga carry arm loads of drinks and snacks to the living room and collapses onto the couch next to Bokuto.  “Suga only keeps me around for my muscles,” he whines to the group.
“They are good muscles,” Kuroo says from across the room.  “Between you and Bokuto I’m pretty sure you could crush my skull with almost any part of your bodies and I’d thank you for it.”
Kenma lets out a disgusted noise and curls closer to Suga when he settles onto the floor next to him.
“Okay,” Akaashi says sharply, drawing their attention, “back to business.”

“I’m in love with you.” and BokuDai please?
“The thing is.  I could tell you that it’s nothing like that.  That we’re just friends.  That my heart doesn’t race and my blood doesn’t pound so hard I feel like I’m going to rupture something when you smile at me.  That I don’t fall to pieces when you’re hurting.  That you don’t help bring out the best in me.  That the idea of holding your hand while we wait in line doesn’t make my knees weak with want.”  Daichi could only stare as Bokuto took a deep bracing breath and looked him straight in the eye.  “I could tell you all that.  But it would be a lie.  Because the truth is simple: I’m in love with you.”
His breath caught in his throat.  He wanted Bokuto to go on forever and he wanted him to stop talking at the same time.  Bokuto was radiant in the afternoon light.  Though if Daichi was honest Bokuto was pretty radiant in any light.  No matter what their surroundings were like Bokuto always managed to captivate Daichi.  Bokuto seduced him with smiles and laughter.  Turned him inside out with the simplest, most innocent touch.
“And I just had to tell you,” Bokuto continued, eyes bright with emotion, “because even if you don’t love me the same way, even if all we’ll ever be is friends, you deserve to know that you’re loved.”
Daichi gulped.  What could he do in the face of that much brutal open honesty but be just as honest in return?  For the briefest of moments he wondered if he was brave enough to face this, to face all that Bokuto’s words encompassed.  But then Bokuto smiled at him and it was the same smile as always - even with a declaration of love behind it - and he felt the same way he always did when Bokuto smiled at him like that: blessed.  And just like that any doubt that had been trying to take root withered up and blew away.
“You didn’t ask for an answer-”
“Because it wasn’t a question, silly.”  Bokuto winked at him and Daichi laughed.
“You didn’t ask for an answer,” he started again, “but I can give you one anyway.  I could tell you that I don’t return your feelings.  That friends is all we could ever be.  That I don’t think about where we might be in ten years and feel dread at the thought you won’t be by my side.  That your smile doesn’t make me want to make a horrible attempt at poetry.  That even in a roomful of people I know you’re not the one I want to talk to all night long.  That I don’t want you as much as you want me.  I really could and it might even be easier.  But I won’t and I can’t.  Because my truth is as simple as yours: I’m in love with you too.”
Bokuto grabbed Daichi’s hand and held it to his lips, breath a warm comfort against his skin.

Chartreuse and BokuDai
The whole room had a bit of an antique feel to it.  Glass bottles on high shelves bathing the room in oddly filtered light.  Intricately decorated vases filled with fake flowers.  Everything had a slightly dusty tinge to it and Daichi could feel his allergies ready to slam into him the moment he breathed even a little too enthusiastically.  Which was only a bad thing because he was here with Koutarou.  Who often radiated enthusiasm and liked to spread it to the world as much as possible.
He was flipping through a box of records in the corner, pulling ones out seemingly at random, and examining the covers so Daichi let him be and wandered over towards a bookcase near the front of the shop.  He was skimming the titles of the used books, fingers sliding along the rough edges of the well worn paperbacks, when he felt a presence next to him.  Koutarou was holding something behind his back with a grin on his face that Daichi couldn’t stop himself from leaning in and pressing a quick kiss to.
“I found something,” Koutarou sing-songed at him.  He was practically wriggling in place like a small puppy.  Daichi shook his head and smiled.  He loved this man so much it was ridiculous.
“And what was it you found?”
Koutarou took a deep breath and handed Daichi a record.  The names on the cover were vaguely familiar but it wasn’t until he flipped it over that it clicked.  Right there in the middle of the back was the title of the song that was playing at the outdoor skating rink they had their first date at.  The one that had come on right as Koutarou had taken Daichi’s hand and smiled at him with that brilliant smile of his that always knocked the wind out of Daichi.
“I found us,” Koutarou said softly.  “The beginning of us anyway.”  He glanced at the books behind Daichi while Daichi stared down at the record in his hand, mystified at how someone so amazing and brilliant was with him.  “What did you find?” Koutarou asked after a moment.
“The most amazingly wonderful man in the world.”  Daichi slipped the record into one hand and cupped Koutarou’s cheek with the other.  “And he continues to get more amazing every single day.”
“I don’t see any mirrors around so how did you find yourself?”  Koutarou gave him a wink and leaned in for a kiss.  One that Daichi gladly returned.
The bell over the shop’s door chimed as more customers walked in and Daichi stepped back to lace his fingers with Koutarou’s and pull him to the register.
“I think we have the perfect place for this back at home.”

Rules: List the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have less than 20, just list them all!). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favorite opening line. Then tag 10 of your favorite authors!
(click here to read them all on my tumblr and not the dash)
1. It takes approximately forty-two minutes before Stiles can convince himself to get up off the loveseat where he’s happily squished between Danny and Isaac.  (love aka part 3 of the Stiles/Peter slow burn I wrote because of Catt)
2. “So.  What the djinn did to Dean in, what was it, season one?  Two?  Whatever.  Yeah totally legit.  Negative fifty out of ten.  Would not recommend.” (promise aka part 2 of the Stiles/Peter slow burn)
3. Hajime freezes when he hears the distinct sound of someone pointedly clearing their throat behind him.  (the 5+1 mistletoe kisses prompt)
4. Stiles’s phone lights up and he gives it a wary look when he sees the text notification on his screen.  He’s already been warned, by a few different people, that he would probably be getting a summons soon. (trust aka part 1 of the Stiles/Peter slow burn)
5. “There comes a day in every man’s li—”
The officiant is cut off by a loud cough and he takes a bracing breath, eyes fluttering.  (the magic in you aka KageUshiIwa magical fluff)
6. The sky is turning gray, clouds rolling in to cover up the sunset, when Kuroo finally turns to Shouyou and sighs.
“Call him.”
Shouyou snickers at the defeated tone of Kuroo’s voice but he pulls out his phone. (we’re in a parking lot somewhere aka KuroHinaDai something or other I’m writing)
7. It still hurts sometimes.  Not his wound.  It’s scarred up rather nicely.  As nice as a giant scar across half your face can be anyway. (a yet to be titled/plotted ATLA Zuko & Toph thing)
8. It starts early one morning —  mere minutes after the door has unlocked and the sign has scrawled itself into a brilliantly colorful OPEN complete with sparkles and tiny fireworks — not long after everything has started to quiet down.  (Well it had technically started years and years ago when they were all childish and stupid right little shits to each other but that’s a different story for a different day.) (only time will tell aka my Draco/George & Theo/Fred fic)
9.  Neville snaps his head up, instantly wary of Hermione and that tone of voice, and then flushes when he realizes what he’s done.  It’s Hermione after all.  She’s entirely too clever for her own good but she’s not some sneaky devious creature he has to watch his back around.  Though sometimes when she smiles the way she’s smiling now he remembers that, actually, yes she is a sneaky devious creature.  She just likes him enough that, for the most part, he doesn’t have to worry about watching his back around her.  (an untitled HP everyone comes back as professors fic)
10. Some things in life are certain.  They’re just going to happen no matter what, no matter how much you might try to prevent them.  So the smart thing to do would be to just go with the flow, right?  Just let the things happen and try not to stress over it.  Morisuke likes to think of himself as a fairly smart person.  So he’ll just take a few deep breaths and let it go, right?
Wrong.  (untitled TsukkiYaku fake dating fic)
11. Issei stumbles out of his bedroom and shuffles down the hall doing a really great impression of a zombie if you ask him.  He’s got the groans and the unsteady steps and the unfocused eyes and the inability to use higher brain functions like speech and decision making.  (my last first everything aka HanaMatsu slow burn mutual pining childhood friends to lovers)
12. The cauldron in the fireplace rattles and Daichi gives it an unimpressed stare. (cauldron bubble aka BokuDai magic accidental baby acquisition)
13. Tobio’s eyes cross as he tries to focus on the object dangling in front of his face.  He leans away from it and presses the back of his head against a warm stomach.
“Hello Iwaizumi,” he says.  (a place in the sun aka IwaKage fluff)
14. The cupboard under the stairs isn’t exactly the most comfortable place to be.  But if you are five and want to hear what the adults are talking about so seriously in the kitchen of 12 Grimmauld Place then, sadly, the cupboard it is. (matchsticks and dragon scales, year 1 aka my Harry Potter rewrite)
15. Hajime takes a sip of his coffee and sighs, ignoring the world around him for just a few minutes while he sits and at his table at Generic Coffee Shop and gets his morning dose of caffeine.  (roots and sky aka the IwaOi part of my childhood friends to lovers series, the dichotomy of you and me)
16. It’s two in the afternoon on a Tuesday and all Tadashi wants to do is go home and sleep.  Maybe for a week.  Maybe for a month.  He’s not too entirely picky to be honest. (stars and sea aka the YamaTsukki part of the dichotomy of you and me)
17. So.  Library.
Not exactly where he’d thought he’d be working when he was back in high school.  But it’s, objectively speaking, not the worst place he could be working.  Like sure it’s not quite as interesting as working at the aquarium like Watari.  But it’s also not as taboo sounding as working at a funeral place like Matsukawa.
So.  You know.  It’s not that bad. (past and future aka the KinKuni part of the dichotomy of you and me)
18. Tetsurou glances at the screen one last time before posting and immediately closing out of his browser and signing out of his email.  He shuts down his computer a moment later and stands with a quiet groan.  It’s been a shit day.  It’s not the worst Thursday of his life or anything like that.  Just.  A shit day.  All he wants to do is clock out and go the fucky doodle home.  Which is why he hurries past his boss’s office with his head down — he has the worst problem saying no when his boss asks him for things which is how he found himself with Social Media Coordinator tacked onto his business card a few months ago — and when he hear his boss’s door start to open he hurries a little faster and opts for taking the stairs down instead of waiting for the elevator. (body and soul aka the KuroKen part of the dichotomy of you and me)
19. Kei stretches idly as he waits for practice to start.  They’re already a few weeks into this year’s season but today they’re apparently waiting for their new team trainer.  Or assistant coach.  Or something.  He wasn’t entirely listening to the announcement from the captain yesterday.   (we’ll meet at the horizon aka my epic HinaTsukki slow burn)
20. He knows the moment the words leave his lips that he’s gone too far, that he’s made one too many jokes, said a few too many things he shouldn’t have.  He always screws up, is always too much for people to handle. ((don’t) write me an elegy of your past, love aka that AkaKuro & BokuDai fantasy au)
I have no idea if I have any patterns other than I go for humor, a lot.  And I can’t pick a favorite cause I love them all for different reasons.
