I animated the gang snoozin in boggly woods with the punies. (I wanted a newer wallpaper)

My favorite part of this one is how the punies gathered around grandpa bobbery, the worst part about this was doing the lighting after i'd animated everyone and trying to make it a smooth loop when the animations are all on different times (agony)

~ Paper Mario Thousand Year Door🌟Chapter 2: The Great Boggly Tree 🌲

I actually been on a huge massive art block on these ;w; but I’m planning to make a picture for each of these chapters ^^💫

Big fan of this aesthetic lately.

Is there a name for this? If not, I'm proffering "palebark".

I think Minecraft's new pale garden biome and PMTTYD's Boggly Woods are the "purest" examples I can think of.

Mostly greyscale forests that feel at once creepy and calm. (I say, having never actually been to a pale garden, so I'm sort of assuming, but shhhh.)

Undertale Yellow's greenhouse shows us a variant of the aesthetic I'd simply call "palebark tech". Not a forest, but close enough.

"Forget Me Not: My Organic Garden" is about as far as you can go while still recognizably counting as palebark, I think. It's not in a forest, but there are a lot of plants. The plants aren't really in unusual colors- but they do turn black when not watered (IIRC). They grow organs instead of normal fruit which brings the creepy/corrupted vibe. The general feeling and the game's overall color and sound design and focus on plant life makes it fit.

Yu-Gi-Oh!'s "White Forest" archetype also fits, at least in theming, though the card art is overall a smidge too colorful, it's safe to say that at least some of these cards count.

In particular, I think the clothes really work. I like the idea that part of the aesthetic is unusually fancy outfits, out of place for a rugged environment like a forest- think of how Flurrie's house in PMTTYD was so fancy, and the characters in Forget-Me-Not had such elaborate and pretty designs. Something about palebark seems to make people want the "human element" of the aesthetic to just go all-out on style.

Anyone else got any more examples?

The Punies from Boggly Woods equipped themselves with Buzzy Beetle shells for helmets. No fear of getting squished when these things are unbreakable! Use the Puni Orb to summon a Puni swarm on an opponent to limit their movement.

I have defeated the dragon and now returned to town. This Toas T lady seems like she’s a menace, but she turned my ‘Mystery’ into a Peachy Peach? Item info says it comes from some Twilight place which makes me hope there aren’t vampires in this game… wait do Fuzzies count?

Finally broke and decided to give Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door a shot. I’m at the castle of Hooktail the dragon now. Can’t wait to learn why people call this one the best in the Paper Mario franchise.

She sure is my least used party member but DAMN is she fun to draw.

A rather random picture. I first I wanted to draw Flurrie alone. Then I wanted to draw some Punies with her. Then I thought "F it" and added the whole damn forest.

So anyway, I think it was mentioned in the game that Madame Flurrie has a friendly relationship to the Punies. I wanted to draw something with that in mind.
