I'm usually very block happy, but sometimes a couple of hot takes from the opposite side of the fandom manage to slip through. I'm no saint, I admit I do get quite worked up at first, but after some time, I realize they give me new perspectives to scenes I've watched countless times and discover things I didn't pick up before. So this one is for all of you, staunch Tommy haters, thank you for enriching my viewing experience.
Tumblr media
In 7x04, when Tommy goes to Buck's loft to talk things out, this line gives some people the ick, because it echoes what Taylor said in 5x05. In that episode, Buck thought his team was off because they blamed him for Chimney leaving. He talked to Taylor about it, she shared her own experience with her boss being sulky around her, and it turned out her boss was just in a lot of physical pain, she ended the conversation with "maybe not everything is about you". While what she said was absolutely right, and she made an effort to make Buck feel appreciated at the end of the episode, but I can also see Buck not feeling supported emotionally at the time the conversation occurred. In a fashion true to her profession, Taylor delivered it in a very blunt, direct and advisory way. Her being right did not cancel out Buck feeling insecure about everyone acting weird around him and him not knowing why.
What Tommy says here though, is in a a completely different context.
Tumblr media
Before all of this, Tommy has already reassured Buck that he's not trying to replace him, that his place in Eddie and Christopher's life is irreplaceable.
Tumblr media
Look at Buck's smile, he's apparently in a better mood than before. It's like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders.
Tumblr media
So going in this next part, Buck is more receptive to what he frankly needs to hear: Eddie isn't hanging out with Tommy because Buck did something wrong, he just enjoys Tommy's company.
Tumblr media
We've witnessed Buck's growth over 7 seasons, now he can recognize that getting jealous easily is one of his character flaws, he tends to overthink and make other's action personal when he's feeling insecure in a relationship. He's telling Tommy this probably to signal that he understands he messed up and he understands what he did wrong. He never expected Tommy to validate his feelings.
Tumblr media
But Tommy does empathize with his predicament.
Tumblr media
Buck doesn't understand what Tommy, the cool, confident (and hot) pilot would be jealous over. And he almost can't believe Tommy gets what he's been feeling.
Tumblr media
Tommy tells Buck that he's envious of the ride-or-die familial bonds within the 118 nowadays, as if he didn't also put his career and life in danger just to save Athena and Bobby (probably Hen's career as well), after one phone call from Chimney.
Tumblr media
Now it's Buck's turn to reassure Tommy.
Another hot take I've seen from the other side goes like "if Tommy was nicer to Hen and Chimney back in the days, he wouldn't have to be jealous over what the 118 has now". You know what? Judging by Tommy's face here, he probably would agree. This is not the face of a man who is proud of what he did. This is the face of a man who is burdened by guilt and regret, this is a man haunted by his past, this is a man who doesn't think he deserves the praise.
Tumblr media
Buck even cites fake mouth static as an example of Tommy's effort in aiding the 118's clandestine rescue mission, and they naturally fall into a flirty dynamic. I have no explanation for that, except, your honor, this is exhibit A against the "no chemistry" allegation.
Tumblr media
Buck then spells it all out for Tommy that he also put everything on the line just for the 118, without hesitation. Tommy looks like he still has a hard time accepting it as an act worthy of redemption for his past behavior.
Tumblr media
We've all made mistakes, and we all know we can't go back to the past and change what we did, so the best way forward is to change ourselves and be better. Judging by Tommy's "and [Gerrard] didn't make me a better person" line in 7x10, he quite possibly reflected on this a lot. Yet, sometimes you still can't help but doubt yourself over if you've learned enough from your past, if you're a good enough person now. I can't imagine how good it feels hearing Buck say out loud that he actually likes the person Tommy is now.
Tumblr media
Apparently Buck likes Tommy so much that he came up with excuses just to hang out with him and get to know him.
Tumblr media
Tommy is pleasantly surprised, because he did tell Buck to call him when he wants to go up. In fact, Buck can call him for whatever reason, Tommy accepted the Harbor tour request, there's nothing indicating that he would feel weird just hanging out with Buck. Tommy just doesn't know how much of a overthinker and bi disaster Buck truly is yet, but that's the story for another time.
Buck and Tommy really don't know much, if anything, about each other at this stage, as you can see in 7x05, but they're already validating each other's feelings. We've seen Buck get his feelings ignored, hurt, dismissed and kind of fetishized for 6 seasons, now this is something he's been looking for the whole time, for someone to understand what he's going through. At the same time, this interaction must also be quite freeing for Tommy, who's been haunted by demons from his own past.

Angst/Fluff

Tumblr media
Standing in front of the firehouse, you adjust your helmet and gear and feel the adrenaline rush that comes with being a firefighter. You were proud to become a paramedic at Station 118 in LA, following in your older brother Buck's footsteps. You have always admired Buck's courage and strength in leaving home, building a career, and saving lives. This job is perfect for him since he saved your life back then. You own everything you are in that moment to Buck.
You greeted everyone at the firehouse, eager for a new day. Hen and Chim checked supplies, Bobby inspected trucks, and Buck ate his breakfast undisturbed. Everyone turned theirs heads and smiled, wishing you a “Good Morning” in response.
“I hope you choke on that food. I'll let your lazy ass die anytime.” you greet your brother, still angry about him ditching you up last night and not giving you a ride in the morning.
“Love you too, munchkin!" Buck yelled with a full mouth of milk and cereals.
“Stop calling me that, I'm not five anymore!” you said firmly, pouring yourself a cup of coffee. Eddie laughed, making his way up on the stairs. “Morning to you too!” you greeted him. “Something funny?”
You brightened Station 118 for all to see. Upon entering, the room radiates warmth and light wavily pours down on everyone. You are that magnet of happiness that could cheer up any bad day. Who wouldn't love you?
You watch Eddie enter the kitchen, patting Buck's shoulder on his way to the fridge. He winked and handed you the milk, a sudden burst of warmth covering your cheeks.
Eddie is both Buck's best friend and your secret boyfriend. Well, not that secret, everyone knows except Buck. And everyone is hiding you both until you're ready to tell you big brother.
You and Eddie bonded immediately upon joining Unit 118. All the laugher and deep conversations held in Buck's living room, slowly turned into small electric touches and stolen kisses.
Eddie made excuses for Buck to babysit Christopher while he took you on little dates, most of them between the walls of his home. But you didn't care as long as you were together.
Eddie is the most amazing man you've ever met. Strong, brave, and incredibly smart. All the stories about the war and you still can't believe the man in front of you was some years ago on the open field. He's handsome, all worked up and as cheerful as you every single day. Though, the signs of the war are painted on his skin, he exudes a mature aura that masks his traumas. He's also a perfect father.
Some girls dream of men like this, even fantasies about them being a father, but all you gotta do is open your eyes and admire the view. And it's only yours.
"You're right, Y/n. You're not five. You both are five and acting like idiots.” Eddie poured himself a cup of coffee while Buck's gaze was pointed at you. His face twisted comically in confusion. How did Eddie know you need milk for your coffee without you asking for it?
Eddie is more than thankful to have beside him a woman just as perfect as an angel. You spread love, exhibits passion, demonstrates bravery in saving people, and look stunning while doing so.
However, you still hesitate to reveal your relationship with Eddie, knowing that it could complicate things with your overprotective brother.
As soon as the alarm went off calling a car crash with multiple injuries, you placed your cup on the table and run off to the truck with Eddie by your side while Buck analysing your every move and how the distance between you and Eddie closes day by day. He smells something's going on.
Throughout the day, you and Eddie teamed up seamless and efficient together. Buck, on the other hand, noticed your chemistry and couldn't help but feel a little suspicious. He first lost his partner, but could also lose his best friend and sister ? Buck brushed it off as he hurriedly approached the cars holding captive civilians, ignoring any doubts.
The quiet afternoon allowed your for reflection while washing off the blood under the hot water pouring over your bloody-covered body, then silently enjoyed Bobby's delicious lunch.
“Uh-huh, Buckley siblings aren't talking." "Something's off," Bobby quipped, eyeing the people standing around the table.
Chuckling, you searched for Eddie's sight before the alarm blared once more.
Unit 118 was dispatched to a high-rise building fire. You raced to the scene, adrenaline pumping. The team surrounded Bobby, listening to his command. “Buck, you're coming with me to the back, we need to secure an exit and search for survivors. Eddie, Y/n, Chim and Hen, search the first two floors, pull out the fire, and search for survivors, ten at number.” everyone nodded as he explained to never split up, but if needed, you stay close to a wall and never let go of the hose. “Be safe out there!” Buck nodded to you and Eddie, silently urging caution and a safe return.
As you entered the building, Eddie's firefighter instincts kicked in, and he took charge of the situation. He led the team through the thick smoke and intense heat, searching for survivors and extinguishing the flames.
But as you were making your way out of the building, a sudden explosion rocked the structure, causing debris to collapse around you. You shielded Eddie out of the way just in time, but you were struck by falling debris. Your trapped leg caused a painful mix of blood and agony.
Eddie rushed to your side, his heart pounding with fear. He checked for other injuries with shaky hands.
"Calling for help, ok? Hen and Chim will be back, and you'll be okay!” Eddie comforted, cupping your cheeks, forcing you look at him. You were conscious and likely only suffered a sprained ankle while the blood that flood around was coming from a cut above your knee.
“I'm fine, just a sprained ankle. We should go search for survivors," you suggested, gazing at the ashes of the once-mischievous flames that nearly engulfed the entire building.
Eddie looked at you in disbelief. You and Buck were remarkably alike. Or maybe the gene of recklessness run deep in both you DNA's. He's worried about the leg, despite your pleading to go search for the people stuck in that building, you can't move fast enough. It will only slow down the operation and cause any other damage.
“Here the captain, the building is clear.” Bobby radioed. You breathe easily now, the survivors were out of any harm. “Find your way back safely, the fire spreading quickly to the roof."
“Come on, we have to go.” Eddie said, pushing aside with all his strength the debris that was pinning you down. "Copy that, cap!" Eddie spoke into his radio.
“Y/n, do you copy?" Buck's voice crackled through Eddie's radio. Yours was broken in the fall. Buck searched the perimeter with worry in his eyes.
“Don't tell Buck, please.” you pleaded, afraid your brother wouldn't keep his feet at place, rushing recklessly into the burning building to save you. Eddie nodded, thinking of what he could tell his best friend.
"Y/n's radio broke, but she's en route to the hospital doing CPR.” Eddie fibbed. Bobby nodded at the words and told everyone to go back to the station as Unit 146 could handle the fire themselves. They got every other unit off duty. “Bobby, take Buck and Chim with you. I'm coming right back, Hen can give me a ride. We'll go after Y/n at the hospital.”
“Copy that. On our way now!” Bobby and Buck left, cap confident that the remaining men could handle as the fire was slowly being extinguished.
Buck obeyed Bobby's orders for your sake, though he didn’t really bite that.
As Eddie carried you out of the building with you laying on him, slowly walking to the paramedic truck, you saw Hen's eyes widening. “You said she was on her way to the hospital!" she scolded Eddie, shaking her head in a disapproving gesture. “You hurt?” she checked for injuries on your body.
“Just small bruises and a scars, a spread ankle. "Nothing serious," you report.
Eddie hugged you tight, now clear-minded. He was relieved you both returned from that building in one piece. He admired your courage and dedication. Your kindness towards the injured made him fall in love with you all over again seeing you giving all the injured people a soft smile and help they needed, without a single doubt. You hugged him back, seeking comfort in his arms, preparing your patience for when will Buck find out.
“Ok, Eddie ride with her in the back. We going to the hospital.”
Back at the firehouse, Buck was anxiously waiting for news on the fire. He waited at the station for an hour, pacing through the kitchen, eager for you to get back. His thoughts buzzed with all the worst-case scenarios. Buck rushed towards you as soon as he saw the truck reversing into the station. His eyes turned red when Eddie helped you hop up from the back of the paramedic truck, your leg all bandaged and bruises painted all over you, from your beautiful face to the arms. Slowly limping to him, Buck rushed over to you, his concern evident.
"What the hell happened?" Buck asked, his voice filled with worry.
Y/n got hit by falling debris, but she insisted on continuing to help with evacuation," Eddie explained, casting a proud glance at you. “She's fine now, just a few scratches, but she managed to clear the building.
“Screw about that building. "Why did you do that?" Buck looked at his sister, his protective instincts kicking in. "Why didn't you tell me you got hurt?" he scolded you gently.
"I didn't want to worry you," you replied, giving your brother a weak smile. "I guess you passed to me the recklessness gene," you laughed, trying to ease the tension. “I'm fine, Buck, really."
But Buck's attention shifted to Eddie, and he noticed the concerned look in the firefighter's eyes as he tended to your injury. Buck's suspicions were confirmed as he realized the truth.
"You two are dating, aren't you?" Buck asked, surprised and a little taken aback.
You and Eddie exchanged nervous glances before nodding. Buck's initial surprise turned into a mix of emotions - surprise, worry, protectiveness - but also saw the love and happiness in you both.
"I care about her, Buck," Eddie begins earnestly, looking Buck straight in the eye. "I promise to take care of her." Eddie locked his hand in yours, both of them helping you up the stairs and have a seat on the couch.
Buck couldn't deny the sincerity in Eddie's words, and he knew that you are a capable firefighter who could take care of herself. Reluctantly, he nodded and pulled you both into a tight hug. Buck knows Eddie's a great guy, he also knows about the baggage you're both dealing with, hope you'll both manage to heal each other.
"Just be careful with her," Buck said, his voice filled with emotion. "She's my little sister, and I know how a pain in the ass she could be.” he joked, passing you a glass of water.
Well, maybe all the bad did something good after all.

Ashlesha & Toxic Relationships
Tw: abuse, incest, rape, death, domestic violence
I feel like Ashlesha's mommy issues have been covered by others before but I really wanted to explore how Ashlesha nakshatra natives often find themselves in toxic relationships, be it in their own homes or in romantic relationships. I think many of the patterns many people repeat in adult relationships has its roots in their childhood relationships with their family and I see this very evident with many Ashlesha natives. They're often abused at home and later suffer abuse at the hands of partners.
Tumblr media
Halle Berry Ashlesha Sun
Halle's father was a violent man who abused her mother repeatedly. He abandoned them when she was 4 and she's been estranged from him since.
She moved with her mother and sister to an all-white neighbourhood where she was exposed to racial discrimination while attending school. Halle admits that these struggles motivated her to succeed. Later in the ’90s, when she moved to New York to pursue her acting career, she was forced to stay in a homeless shelter for a while because she couldn’t afford accommodations.
In 2011, Halle said: "It was only when I was in an abusive relationship and blood squirted on the ceiling of my apartment and I lost 80% of my hearing in my ear that I realised, I have to break the cycle."
Halle is divorced from Gabriel Aubry (in photo with her above) who, she accused of being a racist (he used racial slurs towards her and their daughter), refused to acknowledge their daughter as biracial and court documents revealed that Berry accused him of having been in an incestuous relationship with a family member, abusing their daughter and even revealed the couple only had sex three times a year, with Aubry struggling with the effects of his incestuous relationship.
Tumblr media
Charlize Theron- Ashlesha Sun, Moon & Mercury
One night, when her verbally abusive alcoholic father came home with his brother after drinking heavily, he threatened her mother with a gun. He began shooting and Theron's mother grabbed her gun and shot back, killing Theron's father and wounding his brother. Police later determined it was self-defence. They later moved to America so Charlize could pursue an acting career.
Tumblr media
Lily Collins, Ashlesha Moon
Lily Collins says she was once in a toxic relationship where she faced "verbal and emotional abuse" that made her feel "very small." Looking back, Lily says her then-boyfriend silenced her feelings and even fuelled emotions of "panic" and "anxiety" -- and it's something that still affects her even though she’s now in a healthy relationship.
"He would call me 'Little Lily'…and he'd use awful words about me in terms of what I was wearing and would call me a whore and all these things," she said on the "We Can Do Hard Things" podcast. "There were awful words and then there were belittling words. I became quite silent and comfortable in silence and feeling like I had to make myself small to feel super safe."
Tumblr media
Tina Turner, Ashlesha Rising
Tina’s violent marriage with Ike Turner is well known, largely thanks to the film based on her life, What’s Love Got To Do With It. In the film the singer suffered severe beatings, was raped and had cigarettes stubbed out on her body. Her husband Ike is portrayed as a violent, controlling sociopath, and when Tina’s autobiography was published Ike actually admitted that the book was largely accurate. The pair were married for 16 years before Tina had the courage to leave. Ike is now dead.
I found something she said in an interview to closely correlate to Ashlesha:
"Part of my spiritual practice is to “change poison into medicine,” to take negative situations or roadblocks and transform or remove them through positivity. The force of my positivity pushed all the discriminatory “isms” standing in my way right out the window."
Tumblr media
Whitney Houston- Ashlesha Sun & Venus
Their turbulent relationship is well documented, but even though the rumors were that Bobby used to hit Whitney, she actually claimed it was the other way round. In an interview with the Associated Press over 10 years ago, the singing star said: “Contrary to belief, I do the hitting, he doesn’t. He has never put his hands on me. We are crazy for one another. I mean crazy in love, love, love, love, love. When we’re fighting, it’s like that’s love for us. We’re fighting for our love.” Brown, however, was later arrested in 2003 for misdemeanour battery, several years after Whitney said this. The pair eventually divorced after 15 years of marriage in 2007.
Unfortunately, Whitney passed away in 2012 and I firmly believe Bobby did it. Her daughter, Bobbi Brown also passed away in the exact same way in 2015 and there's just no way those 2 deaths were a coincidence. Anytime I hear news of anybody dying in their bathtub after overdosing on a cocktail of drugs, I just know they were murdered. Its very easy to write off deaths as suicide or to make it look like one. Its all the more convincing if the person has a history of drug abuse.
Tumblr media
Sridevi, Ashlesha Sun & Rising
Sridevi was forced into acting by her mother (who aspired to be an actress and had failed in her pursuit) when she was 2-3yrs old. Sridevi never received formal education and appeared in 200 films by the time she was 25 years old (she did 300 films total). Her mother and stepfather had another daughter whom they favoured. Sridevi was the cash cow of the household. It was once reported that Sridevi would come home from a long day of filming and spend many hours massaging her mother's feet at night instead of sleeping. Her mother once locked up Sridevi in a dark room and starved her as a 5-year-old because she was too scared to do a scene that involved fire. She became a heroine at the age of 11 years and was paired opposite men who had played her grandad onscreen when she was a child star🤮🤮🤮she was sexually assaulted by many of these men as a child and teenager. Sridevi's mother managed all her finances and did not permit her to go out or meet others and she did not even know how to do virtually anything by herself as her mother kept her under lock and key.
Her husband Boney Kapoor is a movie producer who was married to another woman and had 2 kids when he first met Sridevi. He creepily wooed her for 10 years but Sridevi paid him no mind. In 1995, Sridevi's mother passed away and Boney took full advantage of her vulnerability because even though she was 32, she was basically a child due to the way her mother forced her to live. Sridevi had no one to rely on (her stepfather had died many years prior and her sister sued her for properties and since she was so isolated, she had no friends despite being such a huge star) and Boney took her in. She lived with Boney and his wife and kids but before you knew it, Sridevi was impregnated by him and he soon divorced his wife and married her. In 2018, Sridevi was found dead in a bathtub in Dubai under suspicious circumstances. The case was wrapped up pretty quickly and no one really knows what happened. She allegedly "drowned" but like I said, I dont think all these celebs drowning in their bathtubs is a coincidence.
Tumblr media
Zsa Zsa Gabor- Ashlesha Moon
She was married 9 times and many of those marriages were hella toxic. She was married to Conrad Hilton (Paris Hilton's great-grandfather)
She said of the marriage:
"Conrad's decision to change my name from Zsa Zsa to Georgia symbolized everything my marriage to him would eventually become. My Hungarian roots were to be ripped out and my background ignored. ... I soon discovered that my marriage to Conrad meant the end of my freedom. My own needs were completely ignored: I belonged to Conrad."
Gabor's only child, daughter Constance Francesca Hilton, was born in 1947. According to Gabor's 1991 autobiography, One Lifetime Is Not Enough, her pregnancy resulted from rape by then-husband Conrad Hilton.
Tumblr media
Marilyn Monroe- Ashlesha Rising
Marilyn had a very difficult life. She grew up in foster homes, her mother was schizophrenic and her father was an alcoholic. Her marriages were unhappy and she was treated like shit by the industry. I don't want to elaborate too much because I feel like everyone already knows about her life story but its truly tragic how things were for her :((
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball- Ashlesha Sun
She was married to her onscreen husband Desi Arnaz and they had a horrible toxic marriage where he cheated on her repeatedly and emotionally abused her. He was also an alcoholic.
Tumblr media
Bella Hadid, Mars in Ashlesha atmakaraka
"I constantly went back to men -- and also, women -- that had abused me, and that's where the people-pleasing came in," Hadid said on the Victoria's Secret podcast, "VS Voices."  "I started to not have boundaries, not only sexually, physically, emotionally, but then it went into my workspace….I began to be a people-pleaser with my job and it was everyone else's opinion of me that mattered except for my own, because I essentially was putting my worth into the hands of everyone else and that was the detriment of it."
Everybody already knows that Yolanda is toxic as hell, made Bella get a nose job at 14yrs of age and in Bella's own words she was made to feel like the "uglier sister".
Tumblr media
Viola Davis, Ashlesha Sun
She and her sisters were sexually abused by their brother. "Sexual abuse back in the day didn't have a name. The abusers were called 'dirty old men' and the abused were called 'fast' or 'heifers,'" she wrote in her memoir.
Davis wrote about the volatile relationship between her empathetic mother and her violent, alcoholic father. With brutal candidness, she channels the unrelenting terror of living in a household of domestic abuse: “There are not enough pages to mention the fights, the constantly being awakened in the middle of the night or coming home after school to my dad’s rages and praying he wouldn’t lose so much control that he would kill my mom.”
Tumblr media
Lil Kim, Ashlesha Moon
When she sat down for a candid interview with Newsweek back in 2000, the rapper revealed that she developed a complex about her appearance thanks to a string of unsavory suitors. "All my life men have told me I wasn't pretty enough — even the men I was dating," she revealed. "I'd be like, 'Well, why are you with me, then? I have low self-esteem and I always have," she admitted. "Guys always cheated on me with women who were European-looking. You know, the long-hair type. Really beautiful women. That left me thinking, 'How can I compete with that?' Being a regular black girl wasn't good enough."
It wasn't just the men she dated in her early days that messed with Lil Kim's head — according to the rapper, her own father added to her issues. Her parents divorced when she was 8 and, despite the fact that she wanted to remain with her mother, her dad won custody. When she spoke to Newsweek ahead of the release of her second studio album, The Notorious K.I.M, she revealed that her father would regularly make her feel as though she wasn't good enough. "It was like I could do nothing right," she recalled. "Everything about me was wrong — my hair, my clothes, just me."
Tumblr media
Ella Fitzgerald, Ashlesha Rising
At a young 15 years old, Fitzgerald was left motherless and fatherless. To make matters worse, she began being abused by her stepfather. The beatings were physical, but they scared her emotionally as well. She was a beaten and battered child. Her grades fell to be nearly unrecoverable, and she began skipping school regularly. It was an era of racial segregation and Ella is also believed to have been physically abused by her teachers along with some other black students.
Ella and Marilyn were good friends and are said to have bonded over their similarly traumatic lives.
Tumblr media
Katie Holmes, Ashlesha Moon & Rising
She escaped an abusive marriage with the sociopathic Tom Cruise and his cult??? need I say more?? I am so happy she is alive and well and that she has managed to protect her daughter as well. Scientologists are insane people who absolutely destroy the lives of anybody who tries to leave their system so its a miracle that Katie is alive and doing well.
Tumblr media
Glenn Close, Ashlesha Rising
I don't know what it is about Ashleshas and being trapped/escaping a cult but I've noticed several Ashlesha natives all have this experience
Oscar-nominated actress Glenn Close, for example, was part of a cult called the Moral Re-Armament, from the young age of 7 all the way up to 22. “If you talk to anybody who was in a group that basically dictates how you’re supposed to live and what you’re supposed to say and how you’re supposed to feel, from the time you’re 7 till the time you’re 22, it has a profound impact on you,” she once told The Hollywood Reporter.
Tumblr media
Patricia Arquette- Ashlesha Moon
Oscar winner Patricia Arquette wasn’t just raised in Virginia’s Skymont Subud cult, but her parents were the founders of it. The so-called “spiritual movement” was known for not allowing access to bathrooms, electricity, or running water in the name of “inner guidance.”
While still living with her family, she and her family left the commune to return to a more conventional life. Per ABC, however, the Arquette family wasn’t any better at that time either. “There was a lot of drama in the house,” Arquette said in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. “There were a lot of chairs flying around.”
Tumblr media
Brie Larson- Ketu in Ashlesha
Brie starred in two movies, The Glass Castle & The Room that both deal with abusive relationships (she is the one stuck in them)
Our Ketu placement is where we draw our creativity from, so its interesting that Brie has played so many characters who have to deal with toxicity.
According to Hindu mythology, Ashlesha nakshatra is associated with the story of the Naga King Vasuki. It is said that Vasuki and his wife were cursed by a sage to become snakes. In order to lift the curse, they sought the help of Lord Vishnu, who advised them to perform a penance in the ashram of a sage named Jaratkaru. After performing the penance, the sage granted their wish and they were able to regain their human form. Since then, Ashlesha nakshatra has been associated with transformation and the power of penance.
In the list of celebrities I have mentioned, many of them survived their abuse and went on to live good lives but many others met with tragic ends. Being "cursed" is part of Ashlesha's mythology, which is why they receive an unfair share of bad experiences and abuse but to perform penance is very very important and something not many are going to be able to do. When so many terrible things happen to you, you're bound to think "why me? I'm a good person, I don't deserve this" and that's absolutely true, no one deserves abuse but the ones who can outlive these negative circumstances are the ones who can in Tina Turner's words "turn poison into medicine". Penance literally means inflicting punishment upon oneself but what it actually means in this context is to turn all your negative experiences that feel like you're being punished into something you can rise up above against. Poison is also part of Ashlesha's lore and while this does make Ashlesha natives rather malicious and manipulative towards others, they need to be able to use this poison as medicine to heal themselves. Otherwise, they end up succumbing to it.

I fucking hate millie bobby brown, I just never liked her and she was the worst actor in both KOTM and GvK. I like the idea behind Maddison’s character, seeing all the far art of her having a special bond with Godzilla is amazing…. But was mean as shit for no reason in GvK!!!! Like I get half her family died but why would she be rude as fuck to her seemingly only friend? SHE WAS GOING TO DRIVE OFF WITHOUT HIM IN THE CAR HE BROUGHT!!!!
And on the other hand I absolutely love Jia as a character and kaylee hottle is absolutely amazing and adorable and I hope she has an incredible acting career. Jia is literally the only reason I’ve even considered putting humans into my slice of life Godzilla AU simply because her and Kong’s dynamic is adorable.

i think it is a slight tonal change from what fantasy high has been lately, but i do really admire brennan for wanting to weave these more grounded, realistic themes of abuse and manipulation and grooming into this setting where a lot of the stakes of relationships do end up being fantastical or nonsensical sometimes.
the church(es) of helio and sol have always stood for what they do, as a metaphor for evangelical christianity, particularly the more cultlike groups of it. and i think bobby dawn is a well acted and crafted manipulator and groomer. there's a direct thru-line of this pattern of abuse and how it's been escalated over the course of his life and career, from what's alluded to with sandra lynn to how he treats kristen. it makes sense that someone as control-oriented as he seems to be would thrive in the church of sol.
sandra lynn is an easy to dismiss character for a lot of people because she's not the perfect victim person. she's bad with communication, she's hypocritical (the difference in her talks with fig vs adaine- oof), she struggles to set and maintain boundaries in relationships. but when she was fresh out of high school she entered her dream career field, just to be groomed, blamed for her grooming, and then widely defamed by someone who has gone on to be a famous and influential religious figure. can you not imagine what a nightmare that would be to try to heal from?

had this one dancing around my brain for a minute before deciding i'm probably never writing it so i'm releasing it into the world in case it sparks something in someone lol
bucktommy actor au
evan "buck" buckley is an up-and-coming actor. he's been acting since he was 18 in minor roles in tv shows and movies but finally gets his big break at 26 when he lands a supporting role in a cowboy comedy where he plays a character named "buckaroo" which earns him his nickname. after that he starts getting typecast as eye candy and comic relief even though he knows he can do serious work until he manages to get signed to 118 MGMT and his new agent, bobby nash, lands him a role in a serious queer drama. this is the opportunity buck has been waiting for his entire career
the only problem? his co-star is no other than tommy kinard, famous action hero actor better known for playing a superhero in a blockbuster franchise before he decided to leave the franchise to start making more serious, critically acclaimed movies (and who came out as gay not that long ago, taking the entire industry by surprise); whom buck might or might not have a huge crush on since he first saw him shirtless, all those muscles out in display in all their oiled glory, in some cop action film when he was a teenager
and everything would be okay if tommy was anything like the rumour mill says he is (offhand-ish, kind of an asshole, too self absorbed) but buck quickly finds out during pre-production that he's actually nothing like that. he's sweet, and kind, and a huge dork. he's got a dry, deadpan sense of humour that may come out as overly sarcastic and rude to some but buck understands perfectly. and he's so nice to buck, always checking up on him in between takes for the more emotional scenes and sharing his acting tips with him. when they have to shoot the sex scene tommy has a 30 minute conversation with buck about boundaries and how he doesn't want to do anything that would make buck uncomfortable, how buck feeling safe is tommy's top priority because as an older, more experienced actor this is old news to him but this is buck's first time shooting something like this and he just wants to make it as comfortable as possible for him
so now buck inevitably falls in love in between shooting, hanging out at each others' trailers, and their dinners that initially were to know each other better before the movie started filming and then became a regular occurrence because they like hanging out with each other. and now buck has to figure out a way to not break his own heart when the filming ends because tommy certainly can't feel the same way and he doesn't think he would be able to get over him before the promo and press cycles begin, especially when all everyone talks about is the chemistry between them
(unbeknownst to him, tommy is having a similar internal battle, berating himself for falling in love with his younger co-star who clearly only sees him as a friend and a mentor)
it all gets resolved at the movie premiere when buck confesses his feelings to tommy during a fit of jealousy over tommy's date. tommy kisses him about it for a long time before revealing that his date is actually his very straight best friend and assistant.

list of young actresses of color who deserve to have more recognition and opportunities as actors like Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Kathryn Newton, Millie Bobby Brown etc. It would be refreshing to see more of these talented and underrated actresses of color
*Note, the list consists of actors born within the mid 90s-2000s. This might not be a complete list so whoever sees this is welcome to add more actors that I missed. I might update this post from time to time
This list has gotten so long that I have to make a separate one for male actors of color
Rachel Zegler-(she deserved way better than the hate over snow white)
Tumblr media
Lana Condor-(aside from x-men apocalypse and the to all the boys trilogy, she hasn't done much blockbusters compared to Noah, despite her being the lead in the latter films)
Tumblr media
Dominique Thorne-(She has her Ironheart and deserves more opportunities, both in the mcu and outside)
Tumblr media
Halle Bailey
Tumblr media
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan
Tumblr media
Lola Tung-(same example with Lana, pretty jarring how her male co-stars are getting work beyond the summer i turned pretty and yet there's nothing from Lola)
Tumblr media
Ashley Liao
Tumblr media
Megan Suri-(another cast member from Never Have I Ever who also deserves all the opportunites)
Tumblr media
Joy Sunday-(Bianca from Wednesday, deserves as much love as Emma Myers)
Tumblr media
Iman Vellani-(Ms Marvel/Kamala Khan herself, deserves to have a thriving career and be as big like Tom Holland)
Tumblr media
Ayo Edebiri-(2023 was a big year for her, hopefully it continues and she's not overlooked or overshadowed by her white co-stars in The Bear)
Tumblr media
Savannah Smith-(Carried the gossip girl reboot, she deserves to have as much recognition as Leighton and Blake did after the original Gossip Girl series)
Tumblr media
Madison Reyes-(Julie and the Phantoms deserved better than to be cancelled after one season and with a cliffhanger. Let her star in a musical and or disney film)
Tumblr media
Simone Ashley-(One of the main leads in Bridgerton yet Phoebe and Nicola have more upcoming projects than her in Hollywood)
Tumblr media
Charithra Chandran
Tumblr media
Arsema Thomas
Tumblr media
India Amarteifio
Tumblr media
Madeleine Madden-(Carried season 2 of The Wheel of Time and if you watched the whole season, you'll understand why)
Tumblr media
Moses Ingram-(Did not deserve the hate over the Obi Wan Kenobi series)
Tumblr media
Minnie Mills-(She deserved to appear in season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty)
Tumblr media
Amrit Kaur
Tumblr media
Alyah Chanelle Scott-(it's frustrating that both the main leading ladies of color are overshadowed by Renee Rapp and Pauline, who's related to Timothy)
Tumblr media
Letitia Wright-(Pretty jarring how she's been in plenty of mcu projects yet it's easy to count the number of roles she's been in outside the mcu, and has been acting since 2011, longer than Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor Joy and Millie Bobby Brown. Wright has even acted as long as Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams and they've been in more projects than her)
Tumblr media
Yasmin Finney-(She's done both Heartstopper and Doctor Who)
Tumblr media
Imani Lewis-(First Kill deserved better than being cancelled after one season. Let her do more horror and supernatural themed
Tumblr media
Leah Jeffries-(Deserves all the support especially once the Percy Jackson series comes out)
Tumblr media
Auli'i Cravahlo
Tumblr media
Erin Kellyman-(After the Han Solo film, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Willow, let her appear in more sci-fi and action blockbusters)
Tumblr media
Sadly, tumblr has a 30 limit on adding gifs. I definitely missed so many on the list. Anyone is welcome to add more to the list. All of these talented actresses deserve all the love, appreciation and more opportunities and roles
I might do a part 2 which will include male actors

Buddie 617 meta
Tumblr media
I’m gonna be honest here, this was one of the funniest 911 eps to me. I loved how this ep showed us both Buck and Eddie completely sucking at dating. It was very obvious in Buck’s case, what with each attempt to have quality time with Natalia being ruined by one of his past decisions, but then when he called out Eddie for also sucking at it, Buck wasn’t wrong. Eddie’s attempts seem half-hearted at best. First off, if he really wanted to date, then Tia Pepa’s help and dating apps are actually not that awful as options. Magic might happen there as well. The right person could even stand out more against a sea of not so great choices, turning the dreary experience into a colorful, magical one. But even when Eddie tries on his own, his attempts are LAME. Seriously, there are pastime activities that offer way more potential to start a conversation, and maybe a romance, than the ones Eddie chose. Not only that, these are not his actual hobbies, where he knows he’ll find someone who likes the same thing he does (the way he shares so much with one tall firefighter that we’re all thinking of right now. Eddie’s also being dumb about wanting it to “just happen” as if that’s not exactly what he got with buck. Also, just a friendly reminder that Buddie have been dating for almost 5 years, and they are GREAT at it when it’s with each other).
Tumblr media
On top of that, we for real got a guy checking Eddie out (hi, hello, should I start a collection of him checking and being checked out by guys?) as well as him witnessing a woman he was looking at being embraced by another one. Why the hints at being surrounded by queer people? Your guess is as good as mine, but I’m here for it no matter what. ;D Now, I’ve talked before about the ongoing theme of Buddie’s dating life being intertwined in terms of when they start dating someone, or of why they break up, but now in addition to them dating at the same time, we also see them simultaneously sucking at it? Yeah, that takes the connectedness of their dating life up a notch. ~~
Tumblr media
Which brings me to one line that grabbed my attention in this ep. THE line that offers the explicit resolution for the most important romantic plot here is the one from Gina, the insurance lady, to Chimney, about not regretting the attempt. Yes, even when the result is bad. That’s what Madney will embrace. One of the biggest obstacles to Buck and Eddie, besides their obliviousness, is the fear of ruining the good thing they have by attempting to take it to the next level. But here we have Chimney being reminded by Gina that it’s worth it, to try. Because the good thing you can have, if it works out? Is worth it. And you never have to live with the “what if” of it all. Now look at Buck and Eddie being once more adorable morons together on the job! Imagine the moment when they stop running around and let themselves try taking it to the next level, because they realize no matter what the result will be, they would never regret the attempt. ~~
Tumblr media
Speaking of Buddie paralleling one of the canon couples on the show who were acting lovey dovey in this ep, the way Bobby described what made him and Athena happen reminded me of Buddie connecting. In both cases, there’s an intense and upsetting call, after which one of our first responders turns to find support (Buddie promising to have each other’s back) and comfort (Eddie wants to go grab something to eat together) in the other one. ~~
Tumblr media
I did not miss Taylor Kelly, and true to form, she was back because she’s advancing her career by exploiting her personal connection to Buck and the exposure to the 118 it provided her. I’m pretty sure this basically buries any option of any showrunner ever trying to re-set these two as a romance, since it echoed and reinforced Buck’s decision to break up with her. It WAS funny to see her and Lucy cockblock Buck (I do think Lucy’s tone with which she spoke of their past also closes the door on anyone ever trying to set her and Buck up as a serious couple), but what I found to be funniest is that Buck tells Natalia he was trying to figure out the perfect place for their date, and then he took her to the bar where he kissed Lucy. A bar reminiscent of the one where he hooked up with Taylor. Possibly a spot where he hooked with other women during his Buck 1.0 stage based on how it’s THE hang out place for the 118 and we know Buck had no issues hooking up anywhere back then. Natalia, hon. This is not a good sign for your r/s with him. ~~
Tumblr media
Speaking of which, there’s an ex who didn’t come back in this ep, but her spirit loomed large over Buck and Natalia IMO, and that is Ali. The reason why she and Buck broke up after 218 is because at the end of the day, she couldn’t accept the choices he had made in his professional life (hoping he would move on from firefighting). In the same way, Natalia revealed in this ep that she can’t accept Buck’s choices in his personal life. A small reminder the only partner we’ve ever witnessed truly seeing and accepting Buck, in every aspect of his life, has been Eddie. ~~
Tumblr media
Another funny thing about this (911 is a comedy, y’all) is how Natalia flees the second she comes across Kameron. I mean, this is in addition to the hilarity of the death doula’s first name connecting her to birth and to all things natal, yet she flees the second that she sees a pregnant lady. Because if this is Natalia’s reaction when it comes to a bio kid that Buck explicitly said he is not going to raise, what would she do once she realizes he co-parents a fully grown kid? (and a very sassy one, too. LBR, Natalia doesn’t stand a chance in a show down with either Diaz boy) ~~
Tumblr media
Much like Natalia doesn’t seem like the right fit for Buck based on this ep (or based on 616), neither does Marisol. Can I point out the fact that Eddie’s disapproval in the last ep of Buck dating Natalia applies here, too? They both met these women on calls. Second, Eddie wanted it to happen naturally, which is why it’s so lame he tried through all sorts of activities that he’s not ACTUALLY into and wouldn’t continue doing past the initial stage of meeting someone else. And that holds true for Marisol as well. We saw that her brother and her are very into DYI, which I guess was meant to lay the groundwork for Eddie running into her in a DYI shop. But the thing is, Eddie himself isn’t into this! Sure, he can do it, because as a single dad he’s had to, but it’s not something we’ve ever seen him being passionate about. He’s only at this store because of Christopher’s project. And then once more, just like he steps away from Pepa’s help, dating apps and chooses the wost places for a chance romantic connection, he walks away from Marisol even when the whole scene plays out as if she’s the climax of his search throughout this whole ep. This might all hint that despite initial appearances, just like the people he came across while golfing and hiking wouldn’t be the right fit, Marisol wouldn’t be either. Even more importantly, just like Ana at first appeared like she would be perfect for Eddie in 312, starting out in a “it just happened” sort of way and with supposedly being fated because she happened to guess correctly that Eddie stands for Edmundo, this thing with Marisol might look in the moment like it’s exactly what he was looking for, but it will fizzle out as well.

˚୨୧⋆yes, & i love you。˚ ⋆— pt 2
velvet x FEM!reader
• one shot
• fluff
• light angst
after an overwhelming confession between your “situation-ship” with velvet, both of you take a break from being close. in the midst of your healing, velvet begins to come to a realization that — absolutely nothing is the same without you. frustrated and still deeply in love, in advance of deranged texts from a velvet that hates admitting her feelings, you as always attend a performance of hers that goes terribly wrong.
the girls heart seems to ease by your awaited attention — and yours seems to tense by the threat of trust. will she make up, or live by her same fears?
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。. ・.
VELVETS POV.
four months.
it had been four months since the incident between
me and her. was i counting? i didn’t know, i just
knew. the time that passed was slow, very utterly
slow, and each performance that came and went
i mourned knowing that there would be no smiles or
mutual shrieks of excitement backstage. and really, i
genuinely tried not to think of it — to think of her. the
more i pondered about her , the further i felt guilt and
vomit creep up my throat , and it didn’t matter what i
was doing in the moment.
i couldn’t act this this. i shouldn’t blame this on
myself, guilt and uncertainty can’t be the first thing
on my mind or something anyone could read off my
face. pretending to not care is my best bet, only
seeing her as a stylist and maybe a planner would
keep my career safe and drama-free.
my hands wrapped around a cup of orange pekoe
tea, my heart seemed to twist to the pit of my
stomach.
oh, but how the thought of her voice and hands had
me in a trance. oh, how it hurt.
nails gritting on the mug, my fingertips burned and i
jerked them away, spilling a small amount of the hot
fluid on my white vanity. grimacing, i scurried to find
a cloth.
the door to the dressing room then opened, and
there stood y/n, watching as i was searching. i looked
to her for a moment , only a moment, because god
forbid any longer i would start saying shit i’m not
supposed to.
clipboard in hand, she walked over to the vanity and
pulled a tissue from her pocket, beginning to wipe up
the spilt tea that would’ve started to stain if left any
longer. i watched her as she didn’t say a word, just
cleaning with a straight face. oh, don’t stare, velvet.
don’t feel.
she threw the tissue in the garbage can and looked to
me. straightening my posture, i brushed my hair out
of my face. “thank you.” i mumbled, beginning to
take clips and bobby pins out of my hair. the tension
and every physical shift of our bodies was
unbearable, like we were made of rust trying not to
make any sound. it was gross and unnerving and a
lump formed in my throat. sitting at the vanity chair
once more, the routine began.
y/n took my hair apart, running her fingers gently
through the curls and dried gel. she took micellar
water to my face delicately with cotton pads i closed
my eyes as this proceeded, though every cell in my
body told me to open them and begin a
conversation. but that wasn’t right.
everything felt out of place. shit. why? why couldn’t
things be normal? why was this a big deal?
not even realizing my discomfort , i let out a
strangled sound in my throat which caused her to
stop and look at me in the mirror. “you alright?”
am i alright no i’m not alright god i just want to apologize and hold your hand and be okay and be with you and be girls god god help me i’m sorry don’t hate me do i talk too much oh oh could you sm —
“yes.” i blurted and stood up quickly , grabbing
everything and attempting to keep my composure. i
didn’t look at her twice before darting straight out of
the room and stumbling down the stairs. the tears
were hot and flowing , cursing to myself silently for
being so pathetic.
i was my own worst enemy.
・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・
YOUR (2ND) POV.
you were aggravated by velvets behaviour. was she
ignoring you or trying to get your attention? being
smart or clueless? definitely not clueless. she was
smarter than that. you hated how you couldn’t tell
with her sometimes. but that’s exactly what drew you
to her — you could never guess. but of course you
didn’t let yourself get too wound up, it had been
almost 5 months since then, and you were so close
to being completely over it. over her.
or, well, that’s what you were trying to get yourself to
believe.
you arrived home around midnight after the
performance, in every way exhausted. once through
your door and in the kitchen, you went to pour
yourself a glass of red wine. you didn’t drink, at all
really, the bottle had been a gift , but right now you
needed something. after a long swig, you stared out
the living room window for a moment. then your
phone buzzed. multiple times.
picking it up, the bright light making you squint in
the darkness of your kitchen, you seen velvets name.
your heart skipped a beat as desperate messages
popped up;
“i miss yiu y/n.”
“everythimg hurrs without you”
“i can’t llook at f/c wiyhout feeling sick”
“i don’t know i hate feekings”
“thid sucks”
“will you tajk to me i’m sorry”
“i wqs wtong please don’t hate me”
her typos seemed to pull at your heart strings, you
opened the messages to look at them, but put your
phone down. you poured another glass. honestly,
what did she want you to say? oh, it’s no problem vel,
it’s not like you tore my veins out and tied them in a
bow then proceeded to wish i was someone different
then steal my oxygen with a kiss. nope. not at all.
a few minutes passed, and your phone began to ring.
now slightly panicked, you saw velvets name and
contact photo pop up. it was a picture paparazzi had
taken of you two that floated around on the internet,
which was you two smiling and laughing at a public
park that — you remembered, — you had dragged
her to so she could connect with something other
than a camera and makeup. she hated the photo
because she was in her “disguise clothing”, but she
looked as pure as ever.
you shook the memory from your thoughts and
picked up the phone after letting it ring a little and
brought the phone to your ear. you said nothing, only
waiting for her.
“don’t. don’t do that.” you heard a broken voice at the
other end of the call. you paused before answering.
she was definitely crying.
“do what?” you asked monotonously.
“not… answering me. as my — stylist, you should
almost always answer wh —“
“cut the shit velvet.” you snapped but didn’t raise
your voice. you bit your lip and you heard her
whimper quietly.
“i’m really trying.” she whispers that seemed to dart
straight to your heart. “y-you know that i am. this
shit is just — ugh,” she was talking about her
feelings. you felt that same pain in your heart from all
those months ago.
“velvet,” you started, leaning against your fridge and
deeply breathing. “i don’t want to hear this over a
phone. what you did hurt, i don’t know what i can
and can’t believe.” you choked slightly at the end of
your sentence. she was silent, but you heard her
sniffle. your voice lowering right above a whisper,
“if you really want this velvet; say it to my face. look
me in my eye and tell me what you want.” you
asserted.
you heard nothing but distant shaky breathing for a
moment. “goodnight, y/n. we’ll talk tomorrow.” the
like clicked.
you stood there a little while, gazing in the distance.
maybe that was the closure you needed.
・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・
the next day…
and so the routine began again. getting ready in the
morning, drive to work, getting velvet and veneer
ready for todays performance… nothing new. and
shockingly, seeing velvet didn’t hurt as much as you
thought it would. you felt good about that. now
putting their makeup away , veneer and velvet were
talking.
“vel, are you sure you’ll be okay? you look exhausted.
maybe you should sit just this one out…” veneer said
cautiously.
“no, ven, im fine.” she claimed , lazily putting her
boots on.
“okay, but, you did tell me one time to always prevent
you from performing if you seemed unwell even if
you refused , so —“
“veneer can you just shut the fuck up? i - just - god
please. please.“ she growled , her voice softening
near the end of her sentence. both you and veneer
jumped slightly, and he looked shocked and
slightly hurt. he said nothing, and velvet got up and
left the room. you looked to him who continued to
linger his gaze out the door. he looked at you.
“can you figure something out with her? it sort of
feels like, i lost her.” he said in a concerned tone. you
said nothing, only slightly nodding to try and ease
his mind. sighing, he walked out the door as well. you
followed after a moment of pondering and headed
towards the entrance of the pit.
awaiting for the siblings near the left center crowd,
you started to wonder if velvet would actually be
okay during the performance. you obviously knew
why she was off, but there’s no way she would let
that affect her image. you hoped.
then it was showtime, and you watched as they
presented flawlessly as always. but there was
still something wrong with her. she wasn’t as
smiley and proud like she usually was in front of
her fans, she was smiling, but she almost looked sick.
you bit your lip and didn’t take your eyes off of that
stage. not even half way through the song, that
terrible fear commenced.
“shit.” you said out loud.
velvet seemed to lose balance as she followed the
choreography and her words mashed up. veneer
glanced at her with an obvious worried expression as
he tried to continue , but she was so off that it was
nearly impossible. she seemed to choke on her words
and she just completely stopped dancing, making
eye contact with you. the audience began to turn to
whispered and audible gasps. you could tell she
felt the eyes on her at how she looked around like
she commuted a crime, and before you knew it she
ran backstage. some people began yelling or booing,
veneer trying to speak through his mic to reassure
them that they just needed to take five.
you bolted to that backstage.
security guards and producers were gathered around
a certain spot, where you could make out velvet on
the ground , crying and yelling about something.
pushing through them, she spotted you through her
tears and swatted away people’s hands that tried to
help her.
“no, go, go ! “ she stood up taking in sharp, deep
breaths. looking to you, she tried to yell at the
security guards that wouldn’t lay off. “no! i want —
y/n, y/n take me .. home, i can’t —“
you were nearly instantly by her side, wrapping an
arm around her and taking her through the back exit
— at the same time yelling at producers to call off the
show. once you two were out, she had calmed down
a little as you let her lean against the wall. no words
were spoken as you removed your jacket and
wrapped it around her shoulders , and eventually led
her to your car. her in your passenger seat and you in
the drivers, you looked to her.
“was that about last night?” you asked, your voice
breaking the threatening silence. she looked down at
her lap. “that was about … everything.” she spoke
softly , almost too soft for you to hear. looking
forward, you started the car and left the premises.
the clock read 9:53 PM as you hit the highway.
“am i taking your way or the rest of the highway to
your house?” you asked. she looked to you.
“your place.” she answered. heart fluttering, you
glanced at her. “mine?”
“yeah. we should.. talk.”
and when you did arrive to your house, you both got
out of the car and headed inside, holding open the
door for her in silence. she kept your jacket on, and
you made your way to the kitchen, preparing her tea
that you bought specifically for her. out of nowhere,
you felt something on your shoulder blade and a
hand wrapped around your arm. velvet stood there
with you, more silence, as you made her tea.
quiet was important with her, you found. she was
very voluble and it was hard to have a gentle moment
with her, but recently you noticed she allowed
things to be silent. you didn’t complain.
you turned around to face her and she stepped back
from you, taking the tea you offered, but she just
put it on the counter. you didn’t care, all you cared
about was looking into her eyes. you began;
“what did you want to talk about?”
velvet gulped and shook her head. “y/n. honestly,
everything is so.. terrible. terrible without you. and
god i hate to admit that i’m struggling to live
without someone but it’s so true and — this is so
unfamiliar. it’s almost angering but it’s also sweet
but sickening and … and —“ she looked up at you
with wet eyes, her hands extended towards you.
“that kiss.. that kiss was real. and i know i said that
stupid idiotic comment that was very untrue because
i was scared and i was scared of our l-love but now
it’s…” she trailed off, looking to the side. “oh it’s just
so.. you’re so..” she looked back at you, hands
reverting back to near her chest. “it’s just..can
we..?” her head slowly nodding, you didn’t waste
another second to back her up against your counter
and kiss her firmly.
you took her hands that bundled near her heart and
brought them to your face, letting her ease her
palms on your red cheeks. your own hands
held her waist gently as your lips basically
locked on one another, a smooth rhythm comme-
ncing between you two. you felt her tears fall
and hit your cheeks again, and the connection
was reborn. this is what you needed — what she
needed. her hands traveled up to your hair as she
tangled them in it, yours pulling her closer to you.
smiling against her lips, she let out a quiet sob
inside her throat.
pulling away, you planted a few more kisses to her
jaw and neck, running your hands up her back.
her breathing steadied after a minute and you
both looked at each other.
“i don’t want to leave,” she whispered, her glossy
she’s peering up at you.
“don’t.” you replied, wiping her tears with your
thumb. “stay the night, let us love eachother. veneer
will understand.”
she nodded and smiled a smile you haven’t seen in
awhile; which automatically triggered another gentle
kiss. a brief moment passed and you broke it.
“we’re girls, and that’s okay.” you reminded her.
strands of her beautiful green locks stuck to her
wet face. velvet nodded and took your hands,
cupping them on her face.
“the hell was i thinking, i don’t want a man. who
wants a man?” she joked, having you both laugh.
“hm, your brother.” you responded and she snickered
loudly, dropping her head.
“god i love you, y/n.” she said , looking back up. your
stomach churned.
“and i love you, velvet.”
not another word was spoken as you both rested in
your bed, holding each other and sharing long,
intimate kisses as if trying to makeup for the time
you lost.
it was definitely worth the wait.

BECAUSE I LOVE YOU: EVAN “BUCK” BUCKLEY X BLACK PLUS SIZE READER
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: Buck doesn't seem to like you very much and you don't understand why. One day you get injured on a call and he doesn't hesitate to give you an earful which turns into an argument that helps you finally understand why he acts the way he does.
Warning: Mentions of discriminations, mentions of workplace abuse, mentions of injuries and blood, etc.
Tumblr media
When you decided to pursue a career in firefighting you knew you'd face some hardships. You were a fat black woman in a white male dominated field, of course you would.
You experienced your fair share of discrimination when you started working at your first firehouse, the nasty comments about your looks from your coworkers, the mistreatment from your boss, everyone excluding you from calls suggesting that you stay at the station instead, that you'd be of more use scrubbing the truck or washing the dishes.
After months of abuse you requested to be transferred and your wish was granted.
Your first day at the 118 felt like a fever dream, when you had arrived you were greeted by nothing but warm, welcoming faces, people eager to accommodate you, excited to get to know you.
You felt safe, a feeling that had become foreign to you when you first became a firefighter. You had finally found a place that you could call home, finally found a team that you considered family.
Well... almost
You got along well with everyone, they were all super nice and understanding as you settled into the new environment, coaching you through your first few days.
Buck on the other hand was a real jerk.
From the moment you arrived he was extremely rude, micromanaging everything you did, critiquing your every move, bossing you around as if he was captain.
At first you thought it was some sort of hazing from him, a "let's pick on the new firefighter" sort of thing but as time passed you realized that his behavior towards you was no playful initiation.
"Hey probie, you're rolling that hose all wrong, move let me show you how to do it." He nudged you slightly, irritation evident in his voice.
You stood, wiping the dust off your knees, shooting him a glare.
"You always want to keep it wound as tight as possible, got it?" He looked up at you, raising a brow.
"Got it Buckley." You forced a smile.
This had been going on for weeks now, wherever you went he was sure to follow, breathing down your neck, waiting for you to make a mistake so he could swoop in and correct you, so he could make you feel like a kid.
You finished getting suited up, your helmet under your arm as you rushed toward the firetruck, climbing up into one of the seats.
There was a call involving a plane crash at a hair salon, sparks igniting and interacting with the many chemicals in the place causing a fire.
"Hen, Chim, you check on these guys, Eddie you grab the hose and knock this fire down, Buck, Y/n, you guys head inside and see if there's anyone trapped beneath the rubble." Bobby fired off orders.
"Got it Cap." You adjusted your helmet but just before you could trek toward the building Buck stopped you.
"Wait she's not going in there." He held out an arm in front of you.
"And why the hell not?" You furrowed your brows, a frown tugging at your lips.
"Because you aren't experienced enough." He glared down at you.
"I've been trained for this just like you have Buckley i know what i'm doing, and who are you to tell me what i can and can't do?!." You crossed your arms getting into his face.
He leaned closer, getting into yours too, a smart remark on the tip of his tongue but just before he could retort Bobby interrupted.
"Hey! Cut it out before i make both of you wait in the truck. Buck she's going in with you and that's final.” He scolded the two of you.
You both nodded, rushing toward the salon, the roof of the building slightly caved in.
Eddie had already put the fire out so you didn't have to worry about that.
"Help." A voice called out as you entered.
The woman seemed to have been sitting in one of the chairs just before the building collapsed, you could tell because it was glued to her back, a part of the ceiling pinning it against her body.
Another woman was just a few feet away from her on her side, a pair of scissors lodged into her neck.
You and Buck shared a look of horror before you got to work, pulling the heavy rubble off of her.
From the outside she didn't seem to sustain any injuries but you could tell by the way she reacted to being lifted up that she definitely had a few broken bones.
You and Buck got her outside, he led her toward the fire truck and you looked around, noticing a woman hysterically yelling at Hen.
"What's going on?" You jogged over.
"It's my daughter! My daughter was in there getting her hair dyed, i stepped out for a moment to take a call and i came back a-and i couldn't find her!" She sobbed.
"What's your daughter's name and what does she look like ma'am?" You crotched next to her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"Hailey, I have a picture." She sniffled pulling out her phone.
You studied it, committing the girls features to memory, she wasn't scissor lady thankfully so you wouldn't have to break any bad news to her.
"I'm gonna find her." You squeezed the woman's shoulder before running back toward the building.
You and Buck had pretty much cleared the front of the building so you figured the best place to find her daughter would be toward the back.
The back of the salon had definitely took the most damage, the ceiling significantly lower causing you to have to get on your hands and knees, clawing at the rubble blocking the back room door.
Once you got inside you did a quick scan of the room, spotting a young girl in the corner unconscious.
You crawled over to her, rolling her onto her back and giving her a sternum rub.
Her eyes fluttered open, blinking a few times as they adjusted to her surroundings.
"Hi Hailey, how are you feeling?" You spoke lowly.
"Like crap." She groaned.
"I bet you are." You laughed lightly.
"Are you hurting anywhere?" You asked.
"My head and my neck are killing me." She explained.
"Okay come on, we're gonna get you outta here, get you checked out and get you back to your mom." You replied.
"My mom? Is she ok?" She sat up suddenly, yelping in pain.
"Okay, okay, let's take it easy yeah? Your mom is doing just fine, she pretty worried about you though so let's get you out of here." You guided her toward the door.
The two of you stood up completely as you made it back to the front but just before you could exit the roof began to fall down completely.
Instinctively you pushed Hailey out of the front door before falling to the floor, the ceiling falling on top of you not even a second later.
You passed out on impact.
Eddie rushed over to grab the girl guiding her over to an ambulance while Buck rushed to the building.
"Shit, Y/n!" He screamed, panic filling him.
He clawed at the debris, throwing chunks of it to the side in an attempt to get to you.
"Buck, buck!" Bobby grabbed his shoulders, pulling him away.
He shook rapidly, tears forming in his eyes as he watched the rest of the team use shovels to try and remove all the rubble from on top of you.
"Hey, let's get you patched up." Hen spoke softly grabbing his wrists.
He looked at her for a moment then looked down at his hands to see them covered in blood.
Hen tugged at his arm, leading him to the ambulance.
Time skip
You groaned placing your hand over your eyes, the bright hospital lights burning them.
You squinted trying to remember how you got here, the last thing your brain registered is leading Hailey out of the back room of the salon, everything after that is a blur.
"Hey." Hen looked up from her phone, noticing that you were now awake.
“Hi.” You smiled gently.
“You scared the hell out of us you know.” She grabbed your hand.
“Sorry about that… i don’t remember much, what happened?” You looked at her slightly confused.
“The building collapsed on top of you y/n, you pushed Hailey out of the way, took the hit for her.” Hen smiled sadly.
“Oh.” You bit your lip, you hated making them worry about you.
“She okay?” You asked after a while.
“She’s fine, just a slight concussion.” She reassured you.
“What about you? Any pain?” She brushed the hair out of your face.
"Lotsss of it, mainly in my back." You half smiled.
"I'll go get the doctor." She pat your hand before exiting.
Buck leaned against the door frame watching you for a moment.
"You okay?" He asked walking over to you stiffly.
"Yeah." You sighed as he took a seat next to your bed.
"Good." He nodded, staring off into space.
"What the hell were you thinking?" He spoke up after a while.
"Seriously Buck? Is that what you came here to do? Argue with me?" You narrowed your eyes at him.
"I came here to talk some sense into you, you act too reckless, throw yourself into things without thinking about the consequences." He rambled.
"If it isn't the pot calling the kettle black." You scoffed rolling your eyes.
"You could've gotten seriously injured or worse." He raised his voice slightly.
"But i didn't! I'm fine Buck, i saved that girl's life, that's my job!" You yelled, getting frustrated.
"Yeah this time you were but what about next time, the next time you decide to make a stupid decision? The next time you decide to sacrifice yourself?" He spoke roughly clenching his jaw.
"Stupid decision? God why are you so critical of everything that i do?" Your voice lowered, eyes searching his for an answer.
"Because i love you!" He shouted.
"I love you and i care about you so deeply and im scared, scared of losing you." He whispered, hanging his head low.
You blinked in surprise. Buck loved you?
"Buck." You went to sit up, groaning at the sudden ache in your limbs.
"You're not gonna lose me." You reached out grabbing his hand.
"You don't know that." He finally looked up at you, tears brimming in his eyes.
"None of us know that, we put our lives on the line every single day, the reality of it is that any one of use could die at any given moment." You lifted his chin.
"But we've made it this far haven't we? Sure we get a few bumps and bruises every now and then and some of us are left clinging to life but we're fighters, i'm a fighter and i've got a family now, i've got something to lose so their’s no way in hell i'm going out that easy." You laughed wiping a few stray tears from his cheeks.
He pulled you into a hug, squeezing tightly, face buried into your shoulder.
“Ouch, Buck by back.” You tapped him repeatedly signaling for him to release you.
“Oh sorry, sorry did i hurt you?” He let go quickly, helping you lay back down.
“Just a little but it’s fine.” You giggled.
“By the way, I love you too Buckley.” You squeezed his hand, smiling brightly.
A/N - Buck being a meanie because he doesn’t trust you enough to accept you just yet, then growing to love you just as much as he does everyone else but still being a meanie because you worry him to death lolll, now he knows how Bobby feels. 🌻

You have been friends with duff since freshman year of high school
You were a bit odd, you wore glasses and got teased many times from school mates.
When you both met axl a year later, he convinced you get a make-over
To your surprise, there was a talent scout at the hair salon and she gave you an offer to pose for playboy magazine
You agreed as you felt it would give you a confidence boost (with parents permission, you were shocked they both said yes)
You were officially crowned the guns n’ roses groupie in the summer of 1985, three months after the band was formed
Once you graduated high school, guns n’ roses had their debut in 1987 and got a chance to be the opening act for bon jovi
Duff begged you to join the tour for company 😌😉
You developed a smoking habit due to stress of touring and dealing with teenage girls who wanted a piece of the boys
Nights were spent hooking up with duff, he would eat you out to help you get rid of tension
While he just liked to cuddle with you as you felt so far away during the commotion of preparing for concerts 🥺
You invited a young school girl from alabama to join you on tour. You were lonely being the only girl on tour with two rock bands
You started sharing a bed with your new girl friend. (she’s a girl and your friend)
During a scary movie, she kissed you and you forgot about the film
The tour ended in 1988 and you decided to move in with the band as they continued to record music

Big, burly Dan Blocker is a classic bearish icon who is definitely in the hallowed halls of the Great Pantheon of Bearish Gods. JONATHAN GROFF SETS 2025 BROADWAY RETURN WITH ‘JUST IN TIME’
by Philip Boroff
EXCLUSIVE: Newly minted Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff will play the 1950s and ’60s crooner Bobby Darin in a staged reading next month, ahead of a planned Broadway opening in spring 2025, people familiar with the musical said.
The reading of Just in Time will be directed by Alex Timbers (Moulin Rouge!). On Broadway, Tom Kirdahy and Robert Ahrens are set to produce the show, which tells the story of the short but eventful life of the popular performer, whose hits included “Mack the Knife,” “Dream Lover” and “Just in Time.”
Born Walden Robert Cassotto in East Harlem, Darin had rheumatic fever as a child that damaged his heart. He lived, he acknowledged, as if on borrowed time before his death at 37.
He led a new generation of swinging singers into the rock revolution of the 1960s. He also acted in movies, composed music, married the actress Sandra Dee and as an adult discovered that the woman he thought was his older sister was his mother.
“I went on YouTube,” Groff told reporter Elysa Gardner before a rehearsal of an early version of the show, presented as part of the 92nd Street Y ‘s “Lyrics and Lyricist” series in 2018. “I watched all these TV performances, from the beginning to the end of his career, and I was blown away by his versatility. The rock & roll and the standards, the dancing, the folk songs. The duets with George Burns and Judy Garland. His life was insane.”
Darin spawned many imitators, including Kevin Spacey, who played him in the biofilm Beyond the Sea. The ballad “Just in Time” was composed by Jule Styne with lyrics by Adolph Green and Betty Comden for the musical Bells are Ringing. It became a hit for Dean Martin, among others, who was in the 1960 movie adaptation directed by Vincente Minnelli.
Besides Groff, casting wasn’t available. The reading isn’t affected by the monthlong Actors’ Equity strike intended to pressure the Broadway League to improve its Development Agreement with the union. Actors will be working under a contract negotiated with the League of Resident Theatres (LORT), an association of nonprofit theater companies.
Although the reading will be in New York, it’s under the aegis of Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia, which is a LORT member.
In a charmed career, the 39-year-old Groff has performed in the Frozen films, the TV series Glee and three acclaimed Broadway blockbusters — Spring Awakening, Hamilton and most recently Merrily We Roll Along — each of which earned him a Tony nomination. (He won for Merrily.)
Groff was also the first Seymour in the hit off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, produced by Ahrens, Kirdahy and Hunter Arnold. Andrew Barth Feldman is currently playing the role.
In his moving acceptance speech at the Tony awards in June, Groff spoke about his love of the Broadway community and how “musical theater is still saving my soul.” Just in Time will aim for multigenerational appeal, as the young Broadway star sings 65-year-old standards.
Since the pandemic, older audiences have been slow to return to Broadway. If Just in Time is well received, Groff may be just the man to help bring them back.

Jonathan led a reading of the show on 15 March 2024 after rehearsing for a couple of weeks with the cast. Details below:

So why do I think Dual Destinies is a dogshit game @elzux?
It all boils down to one very simple thing - almost nothing about the game feels like Ace Attorney.
I think the first important thing to note here is that by the time Dual Destinies came out, Ace Attorney had been my special interest for over 5 years. I was extremely familiar with the original trilogy, as well as Apollo Justice and both Investigations games. At that point I didn't dislike any of the games I had played, Apollo Justice was my least favourite but I still loved the game a lot.
Now to the meat. Why doesn't Dual Destinies feel like Ace Attorney? Let's break it down.
The dialogue - lacks the usual humour and snark. The game can't keep me focused on the dialogue. In a game where reading the dialogue is required to play the game. The dialogue is so, so boring and often nonsensical that I found myself skipping huge blocks of text, just because I either couldn't or didn't want to read what was going on. It's a massive drop in quality in a series that is known for its top tier dialogue, which usually effectively furthers both the plot and the characters. Here we instead have dialogue that feels like someone who only knew Phoenix Wright through early 2010s Youtube memes had written it. My favourite example is from DD-1 where Phoenix's inner dialogue reads (Noooo, come back my beautiful contradiction!). First glance, it's okay. Maybe even funny. Second glance, hold up. Phoenix would never think that. He might have used this as a punchline after 4-6 text boxes of lamenting, not just as a single one sentence reaction to one Objection by Payne, of all people.
The characters - closely tied to the dialogue. The returning characters don't act like themselves. The new characters are paper thin and without agency. The side characters are so boring I still barely remember anyone's names. Phoenix is stupid. Why is he stupid? Phoenix is goofy, yeah. He's a silly little guy. Sometimes he's slow, although his literal character arc of the first 3 games is becoming The Best Attorney Ever. He can't be stupid 10+ years into his career. Especially remembering that he JUST tried to reinvent the entire court system in his country (more on this later). That's simply not something an idiot or an incapable lawyer fucking does. Apollo isn't Apollo. He's given three new backstories here and in result, Apollo Justice ceased to exist. He was kind even if a little sarcastic, he was unsure about himself, and he was so willing to learn. And here? Here he's just a mean prick and a know-it-all. Yeah okay he's traumatised yadda yadda then why is he like that in DD-2 as well? You know, BEFORE his bEsT fRiEnD died? Also what fucking best friend? How about you talk about his mother instead? Why turn his cute speech patterns into some traumatic goddamn mess? Literally no one asked for that. Athena is an awful character for the first half of the game, then gets some meat, and is then devolved back to 0 by giving all her agency to Simon Blackquill. Amazing. THIS is the game series praised for its strong female characters? Give me a break. I don't know anything about Athena except that she's a polyglot and has PTSD. That's not a character, that's a plot device. Simon Blackquill is kinda okay but he's also the first major overstepping a line Ace Attorney does. His character is too ridiculous. Why is a death row convict a prosecutor. Even within the AA universe it just doesn't make sense. He's just too much. Bobby Fulbright/Phantom is the 3rd worst character of the entire series. Where is Klavier Gavin. And let's talk about character designs while we're here! They're awful! Not only are the 3D models ass, but Pearl Fey's aged up design is fucking horrendous! Also this is the first game that really feels like it was made for cosplayers. The characters don't feel like characters anymore. This is an anime convention in a courtroom, now.
The plot - again closely tied to the dialogue as dialogue is the main device used to move the plot along in Ace Attorney. It fucking sucks. The cases don't make sense. It's a trend started by AJ, but DD takes it a step or a hundred further. Every case is so deeply uninteresting that even after having now freshly played the first 2 cases, I couldn't really summarise their plots for you. Where's the motivation, or the motive for that matter? Who cares? Who are these people? The only interesting case is the last one, and it's only interesting because of the last half of it. That's where the game peaks, I'll admit it's even good for a moment there. Then it's of course brought down by the whole Phantom thing (refer to section "The characters"). It's so one-dimensional, something Ace Attorney has barely ever been before. It's like Berry Big Circus: The Game. I'm miserable writing this thinking about how I still have four more cases of this to go. But most importantly: WHY give Apollo all these fucking backstories? And WHY erase everything Phoenix did in AJ? Where's the jury? Why was it buried? What happened? What? Where's Klavier Gavin?
The game mechanics - this is huge. First off, let me go back to the beginning where I said by the time DD came out, I had already made Ace Attorney my entire personality. I knew those games through and through. There's this very specific Ace Attorney logic that one either has/learns along the way or doesn't. Like when you're cross examining and you can Just Tell what to press, or what to present, even if you're not entirely sure why. The games are intuitive, so to speak. Well, not DD! DD remains the only game in the series beside PLvsAA where I have to look up stuff in a guide or save scam to save my ass. DD diverts from the AA logic so much that playing it doesn't feel like Ace Attorney. I can excuse PLvsAA, it was a PL game to begin with so I can understand why sometimes the writing would be lacking, but the 5th installment of the main series!? No way. Also, the mood matrix is easy and stupid and comparable to how Pokémon for the past 10 years has tried to one up itself with each generation when there was no need. Mega evolution was great, why would we need all that other shit. Magatama was great, we don't need Perceive or Moods or Seances. Fuck you. Sorry I'm getting really riled up now. And finally, of course, the elephant in the room. Why. Why can you not examine each location? What? What the fuck? That's where the best dialogue happens. That's where you build the characters you fucking morons. In the background. That's why we have the entire stepladder thing. You can't just take that out. The moment I realised they had done this I lost all hope for the game and haven't seen it since. But Unski, there must be something you like about Dual Destinies, right? It can't all be that bad, right? Right?
Correct. Here's an exhaustive list of all the things I liked about Dual Destinies. -The OST was only the 3rd worst in the series. This isn't entirely on the composer though, it's also that while I like the orchestral arrangements well enough, they just don't quite hit the intensity I fell Ace Attorney deserves. Yes this includes DGS. -Speaking of OST, probably the best Truth theme of the series, and also some of the best Reminiscences are here. -Aura Blackquill is a solid good character with an interesting backstory and her own agenda. She is easily my favourite character in this game, and A tier in the over all series as well. -Phenomenal, haunting artwork. If you've played the game, you probably know which one I'm talking about. -Sometimes the cutscenes weren't entirely awful. -They brought back the black Psyche-Locks. If only they could have done that on someone more meaningful.
