The cool thing about Devo is most of their more earnest songs like Whip It are misinterpreted as submersive sadomasochism songs, meanwhile their lesser known back catalog and deeper cuts are 90% about masturbation, not getting pussy, and borderline misogynistic pseudo kinky sex fantasies.

Posted @withregram • @drewschlesinger DEVO LIVE 1979: I saw Devo in 1979 on the “Duty Now for the Future” tour and had a spot literally at the edge of the stage, with my 35mm camera (imagine that) and took these slides. They are not the best quality scans and I need to get better ones but they capture the band pretty well who were of course fantastic. The use of electronics and synths was great and they were totally rocking. Being able to sing into the mic, “Are We Not Men?” during a call /response is a really great memory. Devo were/are one of a kind and they surely predicted the future as I think we are seeing devolution occurring big time. (Sigh)
