real talk: as a fan of both Blindboy Boatclub and Chuck Tingle who also happens to be on the autism spectrum, wearing a literal mask for future creative endeavors (especially those that require interactions with other people) seems like it might be something that helps me feel more comfortable. both regular doing-my-part air n95 masks and sunglasses that obscure my eyes have helped me feel more comfortable when I have to “perform” in any sense with neurotypical people or in environments that require me to Act Not Autistic.

on the one hand there’s something that makes me insane about the idea that I might have to literally wear a mask to stop myself from masking during what should be creative/resting time. on the other hand, holy shit the amount of mental processing space that’s taken up by Am I Acting Acceptable Dot Exe is prodigious and I wonder what I could do if that energy was free for something else.
