Louise Brooks (Pandora's Box, Diary of a Lost Girl)—Louise Brooks started off as a dancer and went to work in the Follies before going to Hollywood. Disappointed with her roles there, she went to Germany and proceeded to make Pandora's Box, the first film to show a lesbian on-screen (not her but one of her many doomed admirers in the film), and Diary of a Lost Girl, both of which are considered two of the greatest films of the 20th century. She helped popularize the bob and natural acting, acting far more subtly than her contemporaries who treated the camera as a stage audience. After the collapse of her film career and a remarkably rough patch as a high-end sex worker, she was rediscovered and did film criticism, notably "Lulu in Hollywood," which Rodger Ebert called "indispensable." Also, christ. Look at her.

Vilma Bánky (The Son of the Sheik, The Eagle)—She's famous now for being a silent star ruined by the transition to talkies, unlike her frequent co-star Ronald Colman. I think that's a shame, as she has a real vivaciousness and charm in The Winning of Barbara Worth. In this *checks notes* western about environmental engineering, she rides around the desert and gets wooed by both Colman and a young Gary Cooper (good for her dot gif.) Even in stills from films that are sadly lost, I think there is a distinctive warmth and individuality to her. Also she is extremely hot in her extremely pre-Code dress in The Magic Flame.

Vilma Bánky:

I love Vilma Bánky! She was called "the Hungarian Rhapsody" and apparently had a thick Hungarian accent which I think is cute. Several men fighting over the same women can be very cliche but when I saw her in The Winning of Barbara Worth (1926) I got it because my god she really is that drop dead gorgeous. She's also a wonderful actress though, expressive yet natural. I read once that seeing her in The Dark Angel (1925)—a film now seemingly lost—inspired Merle Oberon to become an actress :)

This is more of a factoid but she was apparently the women's golf champion at Wilshire Country Club through the 1940s. [link] I just think she's neat.

Hey guys, Ik most of my mutuals just know that I mainly reblog stuff and don’t really interact with many ppl, but I had a situation and I feel like tumblrs the best place to talk about this cuz I don’t rlly have anyone I can talk to abt this irl.

So I know these people, they used to be in my friend group but I didn’t really talk to them, and since then I’ve kind of distanced myself from them. We were the group of weird gay kids in a school that’s not very accepting of queer kids.

I have one of my classes with two of them, and most days at least one of them will call me white washed Dora (I’m white and have a blonde pixie cut, I don’t even have a bob or anything but even if I did I don’t think it matters) I’ve told them I’m not comfortable with this and they said they would stop but after only a few days it continued again.

The other person (sometimes both of them) really like to call me “straight flag” or “straighty” or tell me that “my straightness is affecting me mentally”.

Problem is I’m not straight.

I have a boyfriend who is a cishet guy, and I am pansexual and non-binary but I’m afab and don’t try and hide my chest and I don’t care that people call me she because I don’t really care what pronouns they use like it says in my bio (I think I’d dress more how I like too if I wasn’t for where I live, but I’ve accepted that and I’m fine with it).

I just truly need them both to understand that even if I look like I’m in a straight relationship and I don’t care if it seems like that to others that they know my sexuality and that I am allowed to be in a relationship with a guy without being told my sexuality and gender are invalid. I cannot and will never be in a straight relationship because of my gender and that even if it looks like I’m in a straight relationship they know I’m not in a straight relationship.

They’ve also started to refer to me as she primarily (at least one does, I think the other calls me they still, I could be wrong though I don’t have the greatest memory) ever since I’ve left the friend group, which I don’t mind to much but it makes me think they assume I’m in denial about my sexuality or something like that.

Im just really upset about this and have no one to talk to about this that is going to understand or doesn’t already know these people and I don’t want that. So if anyone has any advice on how to take on this situation I’d love it a lot.

I have a degree in something I don't even like that should be useful but isn't (neuroscience), with a minor in something I love that unfortunately isn't considered useful by wider society (lgbtq studies)

I live with chronic anxiety and depression. I also am possibly (probably) neurodivergent, but because I haven't been officially evaluated I choose not to claim any diagnoses

Some of my interests and likes include:

movies and tv shows, I love random horror movies (especially slashers, I LOVE the Child's Play series, and Teeth is underrated) and teen films (The Breakfast Club is my favorite movie of all time). my special interest shows that I watch over and over because they make me feel good are Bob's Burgers, Bones, King of the Hill, Friends, The Big Bang Theory

animals, especially ones that society deems unsavory like pigeons, rats, raccoons, opossums and crows as well as cute animals that I deem cuddly like dogs, cats, pigs, cows, and bears (I would totally cuddle a bear if it wouldn't eat me)

casual video games, I'm a semi-committed simmer (TS4). I would love to play more video games but unfortunately I get pretty bad screen sickness and have a laptop that runs like a potato so I stick to casual games

food, I am more of a slut for food than I am for people. I love homey foods like lasagna, mac and cheese, sweet red wines, cornbread, and chocolate. To paraphrase Gene Belcher "Lasagna is the reason I'm fat!"

watching youtube, I watch youtube videos pretty much every night before bed, here's a list of channels I watch somewhat regularly: jammidodger, onetopic, dan & phil, lilsimsie, laurenzside, watts the safeword, smosh, the kitchen & jorn show, celinaspookyboo, kallmekris, safiya nygaard, ty turner, shaaba, the try guys

theatre, shows I have seen live include: Beetlejuice, Come From Away, My Fair Lady, Jagged Little Pill, Wicked, Dear Evan Hansen. Shows I like even though I haven’t seen them live include: Chicago, Hamilton, Little Shop of Horrors, West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, Hairspray

body mods, I love piercings, tattoos, dyed hair, and other body mods. I appear pretty conventional to the outside world, but I hope to get more body mods someday (I currently only have stretched ear lobes)

Some of my previous interests that have been dulled by my depression and antidepressants but I would like to get back into include:

music, I'll listen to pretty much anything and like at least one song from pretty much every genre but my favorites include classic rock and alt rock

writing, I used to write religiously and my dream is to be a published novelist. I write a lot of different genres from poetry to fantasy, mystery to teen fiction, but I've never actually finished any of my writing over 10 pages. I was raised on Harry Potter (I do not stand with jkr, I actively stand against her) and still occasionally write queer HP fanfics (the Deamus and Wolfstar ships have my heart and soul, I have entire AUs dedicated to them in my head)

reading, until covid hit I would devour ebooks whenever I had a free moment but since then I've consumed less than 10 books total, most of which were audiobooks on long road trips

Although this blog is primarily dedicated to Donald Duck as well as Disney's Duckverse, it also reblogs the things I love.

Well besides that, I'm a huge Looney Tunes fan (especially Daffy Duck) as well as other Warner Bros cartoons, especially Tiny Toons, Animaniacs and Duck Dodgers. And I also like other cartoons like Tom and Jerry, Sponge Bob, Pink Panther, Woody Woodpecker, Droopy Dog, Popeye, Betty Boop, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Snoopy and Peanuts and various cartoons from Disney, Cartoon Network, Hasbro, Nickeledeon, Dreamworks and others.

Of course, I'm also quite fond of comic books. Yes, I love DC and Marvel too, although I'm also more of a fanatic with European comics like Asterix and Obelix, Lucky Luke, Dylan Dog, Alan Ford and others. Unfortunately, I don't know if there are any fans like that on Tumblr besides me. Yes, I like manga as well as anime, but I'm not that much of a fanatic. My favorite is definitely Dragon Ball.

Yes, I'm a fan of many classic movies as well as I'm a fan of fantasy, especially mythology, folktales and Tolkien.

I keep all of that in mind to reblog gradually, although I'm focusing more on Donald, since he's my favorite character.

What is Yaoiverse?

Yaoiverse is a canon-divergent QSMP roleplay group! It currently consists of seventeen roleplayers, and two spectators! Others can join in on Yaoiverse, too, by sending asks to the characters!

Why make an updates blog?

It can be difficult to keep track of everything that happens in the Yaoiverse. Sometimes we get busy, and it can be difficult to catch up. With so many people, most with multiple blogs running Yaoiverse lore at the same time, there is a lot. So, an updates blog!

What will be on this blog?

This blog will contain daily recaps of everything that happened that day, along with completed threads and plot-relevant posts. These will all be tagged accordingly, so do not fret! I will not be reblogging every single post, primarily just those that are plot-relevant. And some that I personally find entertaining.
