He needs this job. He needs to support his little sisters. Never mind the fact that he feels like he hasn't gotten a full night's sleep since his parents' funeral. Never mind the fact that he feels like he's about to collapse. Never mind the asshole who screamed at him for doing his job. He needs this job. He needs to support his sisters. They come first.

Orchid smiles.

His high school friends are visiting from college. Visiting parents for the summer, probably.

Its...fine. He's fine. It's not like he really wanted to go to college anyways.

They ask if he wants to go out for dinner with then to catch up. He shakes his head. He can't take any time off. Rent's bad enough, but transportation isn't cheap either. Neither is food.

Orchid smiles.

His friends leave. He's not bitter. It's not his sisters' fault. It's not their fault their mom and dad didn't have any other family who could take them in. It's not their fault.

Orchid smiles.

Maybe he's a little bitter. He hates that. It's no one's fault. Not really. If he should blame anyone, he should blame his dad! He's the one who was drinking and driving. He certainly shouldn't be bitter towards his sisters. They didn't do anything.

Summary: surprise! Everything is getting out of control and the elements have granted you magic powers but refuse to tell you what they want you to do with them. And here you thought watching the championship game for your college football team in person would be the most interesting thing you would do.

Summary: aiden was trans and the perfect relief society 'sister'. David was bi and the bishops son. For both of them, the closet is comfortable and safe. So when they bump into each other at a pride parade, both are terrified of being ratted out, both forgetting to ask why the other was there to bump into in the first place. Davids older brother Chris makes some assumptions, and they decide to play along. It's easier that way.

Summary: by day? Regular high school students. Also by day, usually? They are the magical boys [team name] of [city], here to protect the people from the dark powers of apathy and homework!

Summary: it's been 2/3 (I'm still working on the timeline) years since Zelda and Link beat the calamity. Since then they've settled down in hateno, but Zelda still yearns for knowledge. She picks up the study of the supernatural, abandoned one hundred years ago, but she and Link may end up in over their heads far more than they expected.

"I know you're strong enough to do this on your own."

Orchid woke up from his dream, the words echoing through his head in his mother's voice. He wanted to believe her. He really did. But he felt so inadequate.

"I know you're strong enough on your own," his mother's voice insists.

He rubbed at his eyes as he got ready and started to make breakfast. His dream-mother had been oddly insistent that he was doing fine. That he wasn't failing Daisy and Orange. He wishes it was easier to believe that.

He woke them up so they could get ready for school, reminding them he's picking them up after school. He waved them off to the bus stop and started to get ready for work.

He wasn't a parent. He was vastly out of his depth. But Daisy and Orange needed him.

He pulled on his work shoes and a scarlet raincoat and looked up at the sky. He's still learning how best to carry the weight, but, yeah. He is strong enough to hold it.

Orchid was trying, okay? He was doing his best. But he was barely 18, and he had two little sisters to take care of. All by himself. He was doing the best he could, but every missed concert, every missed ballgame reminded him that he was woefully inadequate. he would never be what his little sisters needed him to be. Orange was fine. Yeah, school was hell, but she was fine! She just needed to focus more, to apply herself, and then she'd live up to the potential all her teachers said she had. It was her own fault she was lazy, so why couldn't she be better? Right? Right? Daisy was tired. God, she was tired. She didn't even have that much going on, she was barely in high school, but she was so tired. School was exhausting and her social life was in shambles. Was it really so much to ask for one friend? For one person to love her who wasn't obligated to? Maybe it was. She was a lot sometimes. But it's not like she knew how to be less. Hyacinth was torn. On the one hand, they finally had someplace warm and safe to call home, and they never wanted to give that up. On the other... They saw how Orchid was struggling. They saw him working himself to the bone to provide for all four of them, and felt so guilty. Because they weren't even a part of the family, not really, and still, there Orchid was, bleeding himself dry to make sure they were safe. Hyacinth didn't deserve that. Orange and Daisy? yeah. They deserved that and more. But hyacinth? They shouldn't even be here.
