the url doesn't actually mean anything. it's from an obscure, 2016-era deep fried meme/image macro i saw that referred to Bernie Sanders as "burdened boy."

jons eye is actually ripped off from the logo of bludhoney records, one of the record labels that released Pulse Demon by Merzbow.

this question is hard, because i purposely try to keep the actual aesthetic of the blog as minimalist as possible. burdened-boy is supposed to have a desolate feel to it, like one of those creepy lurker blogs you see floating around here. unfortunately with this vibe, i don't have a lot of room to cram symbols into it...usually that's where the writing and artwork shine.

Merzbow Pulse Demon 'spiral blast’ double 12″ and silver / black cassette (1996, 2018)

Bludhoney Records continued its own physical assault on the self-disrespecting listening public with 150 copies of a color pressing named after one of Pulse Demon’s tracks. This ‘spiral blast’ pressing is silver marble flooded on black vinyl. Just wait until what the other batch of ‘blast’ copies had in store. That wasn’t enough, and Bludhoney decided to throw in an additional cassette copy of it just because. It’s the first pressing of Merzbow’s landmark album on tape and essentially making this edition a double-format. Amazingly, secondary-market prices of cassette versions are a little more forgiving, if you could call it that, than its’ sole silver double-LP counterpart.

Cyberpunk is a genre of literature that is set in the near dystopian future that contemplates technological advancements and how they affect society. Cyberpunk’s vision has evolved with the media landscape and is still prevalent as a sub-genre throughout these digital environments. This video essay aims to explore these neon-drenched melancholic spaces within. Throughout my video essay I include film/tv clips, video game sequences, GIFs, ambient score and quotes from Cyberpunk literature to conceptualize these digital spaces. Cyberpunk’s contemporary vivid audiovisual aesthetics form an alluring, ethereal space to contemplate virtual identity. The remediation of these digital spaces form an assemblage of digital identity through the influence of technology, the movement and constant state of flux of these environments are interconnected within the terminal identity of the embodiment of the user. Bio: Jordon J. Jacobson is an M.A. candidate in Cinema Studies at San Francisco State University. He earned a B.A. in History while studying at Washington State University.
