MRL wasn’t always blue
flickr
MRL wasn’t always blue por Mike Danneman Por Flickr: Not every Montana Rail Link locomotive looked good in a shiny coat of blue and black, especially in the early days of the railroad. Even in midlife, a unit could still be scene in its previous owner’s paint scheme—or worse. Witness MRL SD45 No. 8941 leading BNSF’s Lincoln to Pasco manifest freight curving out of Blossburg, Montana, on October 7, 2005. MRL No. 8941 is a former Seaboard Coat Line locomotive that is still wearing its gray Seaboard System paint job with added patches. This unit never did get painted blue and was disposed of still in its somber colors on August 17, 2007.
