A lyric from Joey by Concrete Blonde, a song which I love dearly. It was harder than I expected to sew in cursive, but I still think it's legible at least

Concrete Blonde — Bloodletting (The Vampire Song)
There's a crack in the mirror
And a bloodstain on the bed
There's a crack in the mirror
And a bloodstain on the bed
Oh, you were a vampire
And baby, I'm the walking dead
Oh, you were a vampire
And baby, I'm the walking dead
I got the ways and means
To New Orleans
I'm going down by the river
Where it's warm and green
I'm gonna have a drink and walk around
I got a lot to think about
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
There's a rocking chair by the window
Down the hall
I hear something there in the shadow
Down the hall
Oh, you were a vampire
And now I am nothing at all
Oh, you were a vampire
And now I am nothing at all
I got the ways and means
To New Orleans
I'm going down by the river
Where it's warm and green
I'm gonna have a drink and walk around
I got a lot to think about
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
They used to dance in the garden
In the middle of the night
Dancing out in the garden
In the middle of the night
Oh, you were a vampire
And I may never see the light
Oh, you were a vampire
And I may never see the light
I got the ways and means
To New Orleans
I'm going down by the river
Where it's warm and green
I'm gonna have a drink and walk around
I got a lot to think about
I got the ways and means
To New Orleans
I'm going down by the river
Where it's warm and green
I'm gonna have a drink and walk around
I got a lot to think about
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Yeah

You always said I was a liar
But we burn like a house on fire
No matter what
you know that to be true
And everything you gave to me
Changed everything I used to be
Much more than anyone I ever knew

My album that got me through the month of August is Concrete Blonde's Bloodletting. Released in 1990 the third studio album by the post-punk band which feature their most famous track "Joey".
I discovered this album going through Half Price Books cassette section and it's cover caught my eye (plus it was only like $.99).
From the first track "Bloodletting (The Vampire Song" I could tell this album was going to blow me away and it did. My personal favorite is Track 2 "The Sky is A Poisonous Garden" Johnette Napolitano's vocals on this track on blast made me feel like my soul was being ascended from my body. It's just a shame its one of the shortest songs on this whole album. Tracks 3 and 4 " Caroline" and "Darkening of the Light" takes the listener through slower and more easy listening vibes with that gothic rock feel to it. Track 5 "I Don't Need a Hero" takes my award for best written lyrics. The chorus and the vocals on this one are very moving to the listener as you feel like your listening to someone breaking free from a toxic relationship ( at least that's the vibes I got off of it)
Side B starts with Track 6 " Days and Days" possibly the most gothic rock sounding song off this whole track but really most of the songs on this album is that same vibe of wanting to go on a long walk in the rain with an umbrella over your head. Track 7 and 8 are personally two of the songs that took me awhile to fully get into and that is "The Beast" and "Lullabye" Lullabye is the slowest song on this album that made me feel like I was listening to an actual lullabye and it legit made me feel tired listening to it.
And then the last two tracks 9 and 10 "Joey" and "Tomorrow, Wendy" The saddest songs off this stellar album, Joey and Tommorow, Wendy are definitely the perfect songs to close this album out if you know the history of the band and it's hardship's the members went through before this album came out. The final song definitely is defined as the "blackest song" on this album with it's story about a woman that has aids and unfortunately deals with it in an uncomfortable solution. It's definitely the most surprising song to appear on this album but it was written by Andy Prieboy and Johnette states it was a track that would be important to talk about because of its subject matter.
Concrete Blonde's 3rd studio album Bloodletting has been one of my favorite albums and bands I've discovered this year, my top 3 tracks are "The Sky is Poisonous Garden", " Days and Days" and "Bloodletting (The Vampire Song" the only song that didn't really hook me that much would've been "The Beast". I highly recommend it as a starter for people getting into the post punk and gothic rock scene as it was definitely an album that helped me out a lot this month.
