The faint hum of Tony's voice breaks the quiet of the cabin as he rummages through a box of decorations. "Tell me, Y/N, how did I get roped into this festive horror show again? Oh, that’s right—you batted your eyes and said please. My one weakness."
You roll your eyes, trying to untangle the knot of Christmas lights in your lap. "Because someone thought having a team Christmas would be 'good for morale.' Your words, Stark, not mine."
"Yes, but I pictured a swanky tower party with catered food, not being snowed in on a mountain like the setup for a bad Hallmark movie." He pulls out a garish reindeer ornament and holds it up, mock horror etched on his face. "Please tell me this doesn’t go on the tree."
You snatch it from his hand, laughing despite yourself. "It’s tradition! You’re not putting it back in the box. And don’t knock Hallmark movies—they have charm."
"Charm. Right. That’s what we’re calling terrible plots and questionable acting now." Tony smirks, but there’s warmth in his tone. You’re used to his quips by now; they’re practically his love language.
The two of you have been in this cabin for two days, preparing it for the Avengers to arrive for Christmas. It’s nestled high in the mountains, the perfect snowy escape—or so Tony had declared when he offered it up for the festivities. Secretly, you’d been excited at the prospect of spending some quiet time with him.
Now, though, the snowstorm raging outside the frosted windows is threatening to upend everything.
You glance at the window, concern creeping into your voice. "The forecast said light snow. This isn’t light snow."
Tony glances up from his task, his brow furrowing. "I’ll check the weather system." He strides to a sleek tablet propped on the counter, his confident air slipping into one of mild annoyance as he swipes at the screen. "Great. It’s official—we’re in a blizzard. Power grid’s holding, but the roads? Not so much. Guess we’re not getting a visit from the Ghosts of Christmas Avengers anytime soon."
"How bad is it?"
"Put it this way, unless one of them suddenly develops teleportation powers, we’re on our own for a while." He pauses, turning to you with a raised brow. "Hope you’re not sick of me yet, because we might be playing snowed-in buddy comedy for the foreseeable future."
You sigh, though you’re secretly thrilled to have more time with him. "Could be worse. At least we have power and food. And
 each other?"
Tony smirks, walking over to you with his hands in his pockets. "Was that a declaration of friendship, Y/N? Be still, my heart. Someone fetch the smelling salts."
"Don’t push it." You throw a tangle of lights at him, which he dodges with ease, grinning like a kid.
The hours pass in a cozy haze. You string up lights, bicker over where the tree should go, and argue about how to best arrange the stockings on the mantle. When you complain about the uneven hooks, Tony disappears into the workshop he’s rigged in the cabin’s basement and reemerges an hour later with custom-engineered ones.
"Ta-da. Now no one has to suffer the tragedy of crooked stockings."
"You’re insufferable," you say, but your smile betrays you.
Later, as the storm howls outside, the two of you settle on the couch with mugs of hot chocolate. The fire crackles in the hearth, bathing the room in a warm glow. Tony sits closer than he needs to, his shoulder brushing yours.
"Hey, Y/N," he says after a moment, his voice quieter now. "This isn’t the worst way to spend Christmas, you know. Being stuck here. With you."
Your heart does a little flip, and you laugh nervously to cover it. "Is that your way of saying you’re having fun?"
"Don’t ruin it. I’m trying to be heartfelt here." He nudges you, a teasing smile on his lips, but there’s something genuine in his eyes.
You hold his gaze for a beat longer than you mean to, and for a moment, the blizzard outside feels like it’s miles away.
You’re woken up by the cold. Not the cozy, crackling-fire type of cold you’ve come to associate with this mountain retreat, but the teeth-chattering, toes-numbing kind of chill that has you pulling your blanket tighter around you, to no avail.
The fire in the living room must’ve gone out. You glance at the clock on the bedside table, its faint glow illuminating the late hour. A shiver runs down your spine as you sit up, and your breath puffs visibly in the icy air.
This can’t be right.
You throw on a thick sweater over your pajamas and venture into the hallway, the wood floors frigid beneath your socks. Tony’s door is closed, but you can hear him stirring inside. The sound of a door creaking open confirms your suspicions—he’s awake, too.
“Don’t tell me,” his voice grumbles from the shadowy doorway, “you’re freezing your ass off, too.”
“No, I woke up because I missed your charming personality,” you deadpan, hugging yourself for warmth.
Tony steps into the hallway, looking far too alert for someone who’s just woken up. His sweatpants and hoodie combo is decidedly less polished than his usual suits, but somehow, the sight of him like this—a little disheveled, a little more human—makes your heart do a somersault.
He raises an eyebrow at your shivering form. “You look like a popsicle.”
“You’re one to talk. Your nose is red.”
“TouchĂ©.”
The two of you head to the thermostat in the living room. Tony fiddles with it for a few minutes, muttering under his breath about shoddy wiring and questionable designs. Finally, he steps back with a sigh, rubbing his hands together.
“Bad news,” he says, his tone as flat as his next quip. “The heating system is toast. And unless you know how to jury-rig a thermal reactor in the middle of the night, we’re stuck like this until morning.”
You groan, rubbing your arms. “Can’t you fix it now?”
He gives you an incredulous look. “I could, but it would involve tearing apart half the basement with tools I don’t have. Also, I’m not exactly thrilled about freezing to death in the process. I’ll handle it first thing tomorrow, promise.”
“Great,” you mutter, already dreading the long night ahead. “Guess I’ll just wear every piece of clothing I packed and hope for the best.”
Tony smirks, but there’s a flicker of concern in his eyes. “Or,” he says, dragging out the word, “you could come sleep in my room. You know, for the sake of body heat and survival. I’ll even keep the innuendos to a minimum. Scout’s honor.”
Your heart skips a beat, though you’re quick to mask it with a skeptical look. “That’s your grand solution? Sharing a bed?”
He shrugs, his casual tone doing little to hide the faint awkwardness behind his suggestion. “Hey, I didn’t say it wouldn’t be weird. But it beats waking up as human icicles. Besides, I’m a gentleman.”
The idea of sharing a bed with Tony Stark—the man who drives you up the wall and makes your heart race in equal measure—feels both mortifying and strangely comforting. After a moment of hesitation, you sigh.
“Fine,” you say, trying to sound nonchalant. “But if you hog the blankets, I’m kicking you out.”
He grins, clearly pleased with himself. “Deal.”
You don’t know why you thought it would be easier.
The bed in Tony’s room is plenty big, but it might as well be a shoebox for how self-conscious you feel. The two of you lie stiffly on opposite sides, a careful expanse of space between you.
“I can feel the awkwardness radiating off you,” Tony says after a few minutes, his voice low and teasing.
You turn your head to glare at him, though the dark hides most of your expression. “I’m not awkward. I’m cold. And trying to sleep.”
“Right. Because you’re the picture of relaxation right now.”
“Tony.”
He chuckles softly, and the sound sends an unexpected warmth through your chest. “Alright, alright. I’ll shut up. Sweet dreams, Y/N.”
“Goodnight, Tony.”
At some point during the night, the distance between you disappears.
When you wake up, the first thing you notice is warmth—a stark contrast to the freezing air that had plagued the cabin earlier. The second thing you notice is that the warmth is coming from Tony.
Your breath catches as you realize his arm is draped across your waist, his body pressed against your side. And then there’s his face, nestled comfortably against your chest, his soft, even breaths tickling your skin through your sweater.
For a moment, you’re too stunned to move.
You’d expected this to be awkward, sure, but you’d figured you’d be the one clinging to him in your sleep, not the other way around. Yet here he is, looking almost serene in his slumber, his usual sharp edges softened by the quiet vulnerability of sleep.
You’re torn between amusement and something far more dangerous—a deep, fluttering ache in your chest.
As carefully as you can, you shift slightly, trying to get a better look at his face without waking him. His features are relaxed, his lips slightly parted, and you realize with a pang that he looks younger like this.
“Morning,” comes his groggy voice, startling you out of your thoughts.
Your eyes snap to his, which are barely open but sparkling with something teasing. He doesn’t move, though, his head still resting against you as if it’s the most natural thing in the world.
“Tony,” you say, your voice hushed. “What are you doing?”
“Sleeping,” he mumbles, his tone sleep-roughened and shamelessly smug. “You make a surprisingly good pillow, by the way.”
Heat rushes to your face, but you’re too flustered to push him away. “You’re the one who—”
“Cuddled up to you in my sleep?” He finally lifts his head, though his arm stays firmly around your waist. “Can you blame me? You’re warm. And soft.”
“Tony!”
He chuckles, sitting up slightly and running a hand through his hair. “Relax, Y/N. No need to get all flustered. I’m just stating facts.”
Your glare has no real heat to it, especially when he flashes you that disarming grin of his. “You could’ve just stayed on your side of the bed.”
“Where’s the fun in that?”
You groan, flopping back against the pillow. “You’re impossible.”
“And yet, here we are.” He stretches lazily, looking far too pleased with himself. “Tell you what—since I was the offending party, I’ll make breakfast. Pancakes sound good?”
“You’re bribing me with pancakes?”
“Is it working?”
You sigh, unable to fight the smile tugging at your lips. “Fine. But they’d better be good.”
“Please. Have you met me?”
As Tony slides out of bed and heads for the kitchen, you can’t help but feel that, despite the cold, being stuck here with him might not be so bad after all.
The day begins innocently enough.
Tony, true to his word, makes breakfast. You’re surprised he even knows how to cook pancakes, let alone make them taste this good. He doesn’t hesitate to point this out repeatedly.
“See? Stark doesn’t just do genius billionaire playboy philanthropist. I also do chef extraordinaire,” he says, flipping a golden pancake onto a plate with a dramatic flourish.
You snort, reaching for the syrup. “Congratulations, Tony. You’ve mastered the art of boxed pancake mix.”
He winks, sliding into the chair across from you. “Don’t act like you’re not impressed.”
It’s easy, the banter. Comfortable, even. But under the surface, there’s an unmistakable tension that wasn’t there before.
You’re hyper-aware of every movement, every glance. The way Tony’s hand brushes yours when he passes you a fork sends a jolt up your arm. The casual way he leans back in his chair, his hoodie riding up just enough to reveal a sliver of skin at his hip, has your cheeks heating before you can stop yourself.
And then there’s the way he looks at you.
You catch him watching you a second too long when you’re licking syrup off your fork. His gaze lingers, his expression unreadable but undeniably intense, and it sends a shiver down your spine that has nothing to do with the cold.
“Something on my face?” you ask, trying to sound breezy.
“Just admiring the view,” he replies, so smoothly it feels like a challenge.
The tension only builds as the day goes on.
The blizzard outside continues its relentless assault on the cabin, trapping you in a snow-globe world of swirling white. The two of you decide to tackle the Christmas decorations to pass the time, but the close proximity and the shared task only seem to make things worse.
“Hold that steady,” you say, stretching to hook the garland onto a nail above the fireplace.
Tony stands behind you, one hand braced on the ladder you’re perched on, the other holding the trailing end of the garland. He’s close—too close. You can feel the heat of his body against your legs, his steadying grip firm but gentle.
“If I hold it any steadier, I’ll be up there with you,” he quips, but his voice is lower than usual, rough around the edges.
You glance down at him, your breath catching when you find him looking up at you. His gaze flickers over your face, your lips, and for a moment, the world seems to hold its breath.
“You’re staring again,” you say softly, trying to mask the tremor in your voice.
He doesn’t look away. “Maybe I like what I see.”
The words hang between you, heavy and electric.
You clear your throat, breaking the spell. “Help me down?”
Tony steps back just enough to give you space, his hands reaching for your waist as you climb off the ladder. The contact is brief but searing, his fingers warm and sure against your sides.
“Safe and sound,” he murmurs, his lips quirking into a small, almost teasing smile. But there’s something deeper in his eyes—something unspoken and magnetic that leaves you reeling.
Later, you find yourself in the kitchen, attempting to bake cookies while Tony works on fixing the heating system in the basement. The storm hasn’t let up, but you’ve managed to distract yourself with the comforting rhythm of measuring and mixing.
That is, until Tony walks in, covered in a fine layer of grease and looking far too good for someone who’s just crawled out from under a broken furnace.
“Good news,” he says, wiping his hands on a rag. “The heating should be up and running in about an hour. You’re welcome.”
“Thanks, Stark,” you reply, focusing on the dough in front of you. It’s safer than looking at him, with his tousled hair and smug grin.
He leans against the counter, watching you with that same unreadable expression he’s been wearing all day. “So, what are we making?”
“Cookies. If you’re nice, I’ll let you have one.”
He smirks, stepping closer—too close. His hand brushes yours as he reaches for a stray chocolate chip, and the simple touch sends your pulse racing.
“I’m always nice,” he says, popping the chip into his mouth.
You scoff, turning to glare at him, only to realize just how close he is. Close enough that you can see the faint stubble on his jaw, the flecks of gold in his brown eyes. Close enough that if you leaned in just a fraction—
The thought sends your heart into overdrive, and you step back hastily, almost knocking over the bowl of dough in the process.
“Careful, Y/N,” he says, his voice low and teasing. “Wouldn’t want to make a mess.”
“I’m fine,” you reply, a little too quickly.
His grin widens, like he knows exactly what effect he’s having on you.
By the time evening rolls around, the tension has reached a boiling point.
The two of you sit by the fire, which is now roaring cheerfully thanks to Tony’s earlier handiwork. The heat is a welcome reprieve from the chill, but it does little to ease the restless energy between you.
Tony lounges on the couch, his arm draped over the backrest, his legs stretched out in a way that’s both casual and entirely too appealing. You sit on the opposite end, clutching a mug of hot chocolate like it’s a lifeline.
“So,” he says, breaking the comfortable silence. “Did today live up to your Christmas expectations?”
You glance at him, raising an eyebrow. “You mean the part where the heating broke, or the part where we almost froze to death?”
He chuckles, the sound warm and rich. “Come on, admit it. You had fun.”
You roll your eyes, but a smile tugs at your lips. “Maybe a little.”
The smile he gives you in return is softer this time, almost disarming. He shifts slightly, turning to face you more fully.
“Can I ask you something, Y/N?”
His tone is different now—serious, but not heavy.
“Sure,” you say, your heart pounding for reasons you don’t fully understand.
He hesitates for a moment, as if weighing his words. “Do you ever wonder
what this would be like? Us, I mean. If we weren’t—”
“Complicated?” you finish for him, your voice barely above a whisper.
His gaze locks with yours, and the intensity in his eyes makes it hard to breathe. “Yeah. Complicated.”
The air between you crackles with something unspoken, something that’s been simmering all day—or maybe longer.
Your pulse quickens, and for a fleeting moment, you think he might close the distance between you. But then he leans back, breaking the moment with a small, self-deprecating laugh.
“Never mind,” he says, his voice lighter now. “Forget I said anything.”
But you can’t forget. And judging by the way he looks at you—like he’s trying not to let himself hope—you don’t think he can, either.
The rest of the evening passes in a blur of half-hearted conversation and stolen glances, the unspoken tension between you lingering like the warmth of the fire. You can’t help but wonder how much longer you can keep pretending you don’t feel it, too.
The fire crackles softly, its glow painting the room in shades of gold and amber. The storm outside is still raging, but in the warmth of the cabin, the rest of the world feels miles away.
You’re sitting on the floor in front of the hearth, a blanket draped over your legs and a mug of tea cooling in your hands. Tony sits beside you, close enough that his knee brushes yours whenever he shifts. It’s a quiet moment, comfortable and calm, but your mind is anything but.
You can’t stop replaying his words from earlier, the way his voice had softened, the way his gaze had lingered.
“Do you ever wonder what this would be like?”
The question has been burning in the back of your mind all day, and you can’t let it go. Not when every glance, every touch, seems to hint at something unspoken between you.
You glance at him, taking in the way the firelight dances across his features. His usual sharpness is softened by the flickering glow, and the sight tugs at something deep inside you.
Before you can stop yourself, the words tumble out.
“Tony.”
He looks at you, his brow quirking in that familiar way. “What’s up, Y/N? You’ve got that look.”
You set your mug down, your fingers fidgeting with the edge of the blanket. “Earlier
when you asked me about ‘us.’ What did you mean by that?”
Tony freezes, his easy smile faltering for just a moment before he schools his expression into something more neutral. He leans back slightly, resting his arm on the hearth’s edge, and you can tell he’s stalling.
“Ah, so we’re revisiting that, huh?” he says, his tone light but not quite as casual as he wants it to be. “I was hoping we could just let that one slide into the ‘awkward but forgettable’ category.”
“Tony.” You give him a look, one that says you’re not letting him off the hook.
He sighs, running a hand through his hair. “Alright, fine. You want the truth? I was trying to ask if
if you’ve ever thought about what it’d be like if things between us weren’t so, you know—”
“Complicated,” you finish for him, your voice softer this time.
He nods, his gaze dropping to the floor. “Yeah. Complicated.”
You wait, giving him the space to continue.
“It’s just
” He hesitates, his hand gesturing vaguely as he searches for the right words. “We’re friends, and that’s great. I mean, you’re one of the best people I’ve ever had in my life, and I’m not exactly drowning in great people. But sometimes I wonder if maybe
”
He trails off, his voice fading into the quiet crackle of the fire. When he finally looks at you again, there’s something raw in his eyes, something unguarded that makes your heart ache.
“Maybe what?” you prompt, barely above a whisper.
He laughs softly, though there’s no humor in it. “Maybe I want more. But that’s crazy, right? Because you’re you, and I’m me, and I don’t want to screw this up.”
Your breath catches, and for a moment, you’re not sure if your heart is pounding from his words or the way he’s looking at you—like you’re the only thing in the world that matters.
“Tony
” you begin, but he cuts you off with a self-deprecating smile.
“Forget it. I’m rambling. You don’t have to—”
Before he can finish, you lean in and kiss him.
It’s sudden, impulsive, and entirely out of character for you, but you can’t stop yourself. Not when his words are still echoing in your ears, not when the thought of him doubting how much you care makes your chest ache.
For a split second, he freezes, his breath catching against your lips. And then he’s kissing you back, his hand coming up to cup your cheek as he tilts his head to deepen the kiss.
The world around you fades away—the fire, the storm, everything. All that exists is the press of his lips against yours, the warmth of his hand on your skin, the way he leans into you like he’s afraid you might disappear.
When you finally pull back, both of you are breathing hard, your foreheads resting against each other. His eyes search yours, his expression a mix of wonder and disbelief.
“Wow,” he murmurs, his voice soft but filled with awe. “So, uh
 not crazy, then?”
You laugh, your hand brushing against his where it rests on your cheek. “Not crazy. Not even a little.”
A slow, genuine smile spreads across his face, and for the first time all day, the tension between you melts away, replaced by something deeper, something undeniable.
“Well,” he says, his tone shifting back to that familiar, teasing lilt, “if I’d known that’s what it would take to shut me up, I would’ve started rambling sooner.”
You roll your eyes, but you can’t stop the smile tugging at your lips. “Don’t push your luck, Stark.”
“Too late,” he replies, his grin widening.
And as the fire crackles beside you and the storm rages on outside, you realize you’ve never felt warmer in your life.
Night settles over the cabin with a heavy quiet, the kind that amplifies the faint creaks of the wooden beams and the low howl of the wind outside. The fire in the hearth has burned down to embers, but it doesn’t matter much; the heating system is working again—or so Tony assures you.
You stand in the hallway, awkwardly lingering by your bedroom door while Tony scratches the back of his neck, his usual confidence somewhat muted. It’s strange to think how much has changed in a single day.
“We’re really doing this, huh?” he says, his tone teasing but his eyes searching yours.
You smile softly. “Yeah. We are.”
A small, crooked grin tugs at his lips, and for a moment, you think he’s about to say something else. But then he steps back, gesturing toward his room.
“Alright, then. Goodnight, Y/N,” he says, his voice lighter now, though there’s a flicker of hesitation beneath it.
“Goodnight, Tony,” you reply, your heart squeezing as you watch him retreat down the hall.
Half an hour later, you’re shivering again.
The blankets piled on your bed offer little relief against the creeping chill seeping into the cabin. You groan, pulling the covers tighter around you, but it’s no use.
How is this possible? you think. The heating system was fine earlier. Tony said it was fine.
As if summoned by your thoughts, a soft knock sounds at your door.
“Y/N?” Tony’s voice comes through, low and hesitant.
You sit up, wrapping the blanket around your shoulders. “Come in.”
The door creaks open, and Tony steps inside, his hands shoved into the pockets of his sweatpants. His hair is slightly mussed, like he’s been lying down, but there’s an odd mix of sheepishness and mischief in his expression that immediately puts you on alert.
“What’s wrong?” you ask, though you already have a sinking suspicion.
He clears his throat, leaning casually against the doorframe. “So, uh
funny story. The heating system’s on the fritz again.”
You stare at him, raising an eyebrow. “Seriously?”
“Yup. Totally busted. Must’ve been a loose wire or, uh, something technical,” he says, waving a hand vaguely.
You narrow your eyes. “Something technical, huh?”
His gaze shifts, landing on anything in the room that isn’t you. “Yeah. Technical stuff. Very complicated. I’d explain it, but you’d probably get bored.”
You don’t respond right away, letting the silence stretch just long enough for him to start fidgeting. And that’s when it happens—his carefully crafted nonchalance slips.
“I mean, it’s not like I turned it off or anything,” he says quickly, then freezes, his eyes widening as if he can’t believe the words that just came out of his mouth.
You blink, processing his slip. “Wait. You turned it off?”
“No,” he says immediately, his voice rising a pitch. Then, realizing how unconvincing that sounds, he sighs and drags a hand down his face. “Okay, fine. Yes. I turned it off. But I had a good reason!”
You cross your arms, the blanket slipping slightly from your shoulders. “This should be good. Let’s hear it.”
He hesitates, his usual quick wit seemingly failing him for once. “I just
Look, it’s freezing, okay? And I thought maybe—”
“You thought maybe you’d use the cold as an excuse to come sleep with me?” you finish for him, unable to keep the amusement out of your voice.
Tony’s cheeks flush, and he looks away, muttering, “It sounds worse when you say it like that.”
Despite the chill in the air, warmth blooms in your chest at the thought of him going to such ridiculous lengths just to be close to you.
“You know,” you say, stepping closer, “you didn’t need an excuse.”
His head snaps back to you, his expression shifting from embarrassed to surprised. “I didn’t?”
You shake your head, a soft smile tugging at your lips. “No, Tony. You could’ve just said you didn’t want to sleep alone.”
His mouth opens, then closes, and for once, he seems genuinely at a loss for words.
“Come on,” you say, taking his hand and pulling him toward the bed. “If you’re going to sneak your way into my room, at least do it properly.”
He lets out a laugh—half-relieved, half-something else—and follows you without protest.
As soon as the two of you settle under the covers, the warmth is immediate and all-encompassing. It’s not just the shared body heat; it’s the presence of him beside you, the sense of safety and comfort that comes with it.
Tony lies on his back at first, staring up at the ceiling like he’s trying to play it cool. But it doesn’t last long.
Within moments, he shifts closer, his arm brushing yours. Then he turns onto his side, facing you, his expression unusually soft.
“Is this okay?” he asks, his voice quieter now, almost uncertain.
You nod, your heart fluttering. “Yeah. It’s okay.”
His lips curve into a small smile, and before you can say anything else, he moves again—settling himself with his head resting on your chest.
The action is so uncharacteristic, so unexpectedly vulnerable, that you’re momentarily stunned. But then he lets out a contented sigh, his breath warm against your sweater, and you realize how natural it feels.
“Comfy?” you ask, your voice tinged with amusement.
“Very,” he murmurs, his eyes already half-closed.
You chuckle softly, threading your fingers through his hair on instinct. His reaction is immediate; he leans into your touch, a quiet hum of approval escaping him.
“Not bad,” he says, his voice muffled against you. “You’ve got a real talent for this, Y/N.”
“For what? Letting you use me as a pillow?”
“Exactly. A-plus performance. Five stars. Would recommend.”
You roll your eyes, but you can’t help the smile that spreads across your face. As ridiculous as he is, there’s something incredibly endearing about seeing him like this—unguarded, content, and completely at ease.
Minutes pass, the firelight casting soft shadows across the room. Your hand continues its slow, gentle movements through his hair, and you feel him relax further, his breathing evening out.
“Hey, Y/N?” he murmurs, his voice drowsy but sincere.
“Yeah?”
“Thanks.”
“For what?”
He tilts his head slightly, just enough to meet your eyes. “For letting me in. For this.”
Your chest tightens, and you brush a strand of hair from his forehead. “Anytime, Tony.”
He smiles, the kind of smile that feels like it’s just for you, and you realize in that moment that you’ve never been more certain about anything in your life.
As his eyes drift shut and his breathing slows, you press a soft kiss to the top of his head, letting the warmth of the fire and the steady rhythm of his heartbeat lull you to sleep.
Morning arrives quietly. The faint light of dawn filters through the curtains, soft and golden, painting the room in gentle hues. The cabin is silent save for the occasional creak of wood adjusting to the temperature. It’s a peace you don’t often experience, and for a moment, you let yourself bask in it.
Then you become acutely aware of the weight pressing against you.
Tony’s face is buried against your chest, his arms wrapped securely around your waist, his body molded to yours like he’s been glued there. He’s still asleep, his breathing deep and even, but every now and then, he nuzzles closer, a contented sigh escaping him.
You’re torn between laughing at how clingy he is and feeling ridiculously fond of the man currently using you as his personal pillow.
With a small smile, you reach for your phone on the nightstand, careful not to disturb him too much. The screen lights up, and you blink against the brightness as you read the messages that came in during the night.
The blizzard is over.
The team is on their way, currently en route on a Quinjet and expected to arrive in a few hours. Relief washes over you; as much as you’ve enjoyed this unexpected time alone with Tony, you know everyone will be eager to celebrate Christmas together.
You glance down at him, his dark lashes resting against his cheek, his lips slightly parted. He looks peaceful, younger almost, like the weight of the world isn’t constantly pressing down on him.
“Tony,” you say softly, brushing a hand over his shoulder. “Wake up.”
He groans in response, burrowing further into you.
“Come on,” you coax, trying to suppress your amusement. “The others are on their way. We should get up and make sure the cabin’s ready for them.”
“Don’t care,” he mumbles, his voice muffled against your chest.
You laugh, nudging him gently. “Tony, come on. You’ll care when Steve gets here and starts giving you his disappointed dad look because we’re not ready.”
He shifts slightly, cracking one eye open to peer at you. “Let him look. I’m busy.”
“Busy?” you repeat, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah. Busy doing this.”
As if to prove his point, he tightens his hold on you and nuzzles his face even deeper against your chest, his breath warm against your skin. His arms are firm around your waist, and despite the fact that you’re trying to wake him up, there’s a traitorous part of you that doesn’t want him to let go.
“Tony,” you say, your voice firmer this time, though it’s hard to sound authoritative when he’s acting so endearing.
“Shh,” he murmurs, his lips brushing against the fabric of your shirt as he speaks. “I’m comfortable. You’re comfortable. No reason to ruin a good thing.”
You roll your eyes, though the fond smile on your face betrays you. “The team is literally flying here right now. They’ll be here in a few hours.”
“Plenty of time,” he counters, his voice still heavy with sleep.
“Tony,” you say again, but before you can finish, he tilts his head up slightly, meeting your gaze with a lopsided grin.
“What?” he asks innocently, though the mischievous glint in his eyes tells you he knows exactly what he’s doing.
“You’re impossible,” you mutter, though there’s no real heat in your words.
“And yet, here you are, cuddling me anyway,” he quips, looking far too pleased with himself.
Before you can come up with a retort, he leans back down, resting his head against your chest again. His voice is quieter now, almost shy as he adds, “I don’t wanna get up yet.”
Your heart softens at his admission, and you find yourself relenting.
“Fine,” you say, running a hand through his hair. “But only for a few more minutes. Then we really need to get moving.”
He hums in response, his eyes slipping shut once more as he leans into your touch. You feel his breathing even out again, and for a moment, you let yourself relax, enjoying the quiet intimacy of the moment.
When you finally manage to coax Tony out of bed, it’s a slow, reluctant process.
He clings to you the entire time, draping an arm over your shoulder as you sit up, resting his chin on your head while you stretch. Even when you stand, he follows you, keeping one hand on your waist as though afraid you’ll suddenly disappear.
“Are you always this clingy in the morning?” you tease, glancing at him over your shoulder.
He grins, unrepentant. “Only when I’ve got something worth clinging to.”
You roll your eyes, though your cheeks flush at the compliment. “Come on, Romeo. We’ve got work to do.”
He groans but doesn’t let go as you make your way to the kitchen. You try to shoo him off, insisting you can handle things just fine on your own, but he refuses to budge, staying close as you start preparing breakfast.
“Tony,” you say, exasperated but laughing, “I need both hands to crack these eggs.”
“You’ve got two hands,” he replies, leaning against the counter with a smug smirk. “Mine are free. Put me to work.”
You shake your head, handing him a whisk. “Fine. You can whisk. But don’t make a mess.”
He salutes you dramatically. “Yes, ma’am.”
By the time the Quinjet lands outside, the cabin is spotless, breakfast is ready, and you’ve managed to coax Tony into releasing you—though not without a fair amount of grumbling on his part.
The team files in, shaking off snow and shedding coats as they greet you warmly.
Steve glances between you and Tony, his brows furrowing slightly. “Everything okay here? You guys managed alright during the storm?”
You exchange a glance with Tony, his expression betraying nothing but smug satisfaction.
“Oh, we managed,” you say, biting back a smile.
Steve eyes you both suspiciously, but before he can press further, Natasha strides in, sniffing the air.
“Did you guys actually cook breakfast?” she asks, raising an eyebrow.
“Tony whisked,” you say, and he preens like it’s the highest praise he’s ever received.
“I whisked,” he repeats proudly.
Natasha snorts, muttering something under her breath about miracles, and the conversation shifts as the team settles in.
Throughout the morning, Tony stays close—always within arm’s reach, always finding some excuse to brush against you or nudge your shoulder. It’s subtle enough that no one seems to notice, but you’re keenly aware of it, and the warmth it brings stays with you long after the blizzard is nothing more than a memory.
It’s going to be a very merry Christmas indeed.

Chapter 3: I keep thinking maybe if you let me back in
Reader POV
Life was not fair. Never was to you. But that never seemed to faze you. if anything, that made you more resilient. Unafraid. Unbothered. Living in that small, noisy Brooklyn apartment, with a mother who worked herself to death trying to provide her children with a good life, a brother, the literal personification of sunshine, being picked on and bullied, tending to his bruises when he thought nobody’s looking.
It made you realise that the world is a dangerous place. It eats up those who stand unprepared. And so, you steeled yourself. Made yourself the most fearsome creature to behold in any room you entered. Your biting wit, your sass, you sharp intellect made you attractive to some, unappealing to many and untouchable to all.
There was only one who dared to play with the fireball that was Y/N Rogers. Only one for whom your guards went down. After all, if Steve trusted Bucky with his life, you could trust him with your heart. Right?
Turns out you couldn’t.
“This was supposed to be a temporary thing” he’d said.
“Do you really think I’m gonna take you home to my mother ? tell her you are what I want the Barnes legacy to continue with?” he’d sneered.
“Its time you go back to your dreams, and let me get on with mine.” He’d offered.
You never should have.
Bucky POV
Life was hilarious. Or at least it started seeming that way after years of neglect. He had everything a child could’ve wanted. All the toys in the world, the most expensive apparel, all the amenities a person could dream of. But the one thing he lacked was love. Pure genuine love.
His mother, The Winnifred Barnes of the upper east side, knew how to give birth to heirs, but did not have a clue about raising a child. Growing up in that negligent household, amongst people who were nefarious for being social climbers and gold diggers, little James soon realized that the only worth he has comes attached to his name. that no one would care for him if it weren’t for his billions.
But he was proved wrong when he met a lanky blond boy of Brooklyn at the music camp. It was there he shed the expensive cloak of James Buchanan Barnes and donned the dirty sneakers of Bucky. It was through Steve he recognised his own significance, that he could be something more than the well-groomed showpiece his family was expecting him to be.
And then he met you.
And it felt as if all his prayers had been answered.
You weren’t like Steve, not one bit. You were this fiery, self-assured human who could scorch the world with her brilliance. Unlike Steve, you were pragmatic. Unlike Bucky, you knew who you were and where you wanted to be.
And he fell for you. hard.
He borrowed some of your bravery, some of your light, and formed the Avengers with Steve, Sam and Wanda. He wanted to make something of himself to deserve you. to earn the jackpot that was your love.
However, for bucky, it seems happiness is always a temporary tryst. He tends to forget that.
Skiing was his passion. One of the many trappings of his privileged life that actually he enjoyed. It was the same passion that completely changed Bucky’s life. But unlike you, for the worse.
It was his own fault. No one else to be blamed. Had he heeded the weather warning, he wouldn’t be on that slope. he wouldn’t have been caught in that blizzard. He wouldn’t have lost his left arm.
When he regained his consciousness, the first face he saw was yours, streaked with tears, anguish in eyes.
You came there every day, sometimes under the pretence of dropping something for Steve, who refused to leave him alone, sometimes to fill in for his absence. The better bucky got, the more hopeful your eyes grew.
You’d altered everything to fit Bucky’s schedule. You worked late nights so that you could visit him in evenings after school, stopped going out with your friends to be with him instead. There were times you pulled an all nighter just so you could turn in your assignments on time.
He saw it all. The dark circles beneath your eyes, your tired face, the endless cups of coffee. It should’ve pained him, but the thought that you were there, to love him, to hold him, brought endless solace. and so he selfishly held on to you.
Until one day, Steve told him about your college acceptance letters.
“She got into Harvard Bucky! My baby girl in Harvard. Just think about that.” A hint of pride glimmered under his annoyance, “But she refuses to go. Says she cant leave Ma and I alone.”
“what ?!” Bucky had asked, guilt gnawing at him
“I mean Columbia is a decent school, but Harvard law?! It doesn’t get better than that. How far is Boston anyway?...”
Steve’s voice blended into the voices in Bucky’s brain. He knew the real reason behind your hesitation to go to Harvard was him. He remembered how excited you were when your adviser had confidently proclaimed that she is Harvard material.
And you were willing to let that go. For him.
Instead of joy, Bucky felt trepidation. Fear. Was this love? Or pity? Is this how the rest of your lives will be? You leaving things you love for his sake? And how long before you resent him? Hate him for all the opportunities you’d let go of for him?
How could he ever live with himself, knowing he was the anchor that was holding you back?
Bucky had resigned himself to live his life with his situation, but you didn’t have to. You , perfect in every way, intelligent, so beautiful that his heart ached.you should be with some one who deserved you. not him. Never him.
And so James Buchanan Barnes did something that was somehow more painful than ripping his heart out.
He let you go.
Reader POV
you woke up with a heavy head. It felt a lot like jet lag, except that it wasn’t. one did not get headaches by travelling from Boston to New York. One did, however get headaches after crying all night. Which was what you did last night.
It was embarrassing. Pathetic even. You thought you were over him, and all that it took was one glimpse of his to mess you up. You had a Suma cum laude from the most prestigious law schools in the world, scored job offers from the most esteemed firms, made grown men cower in front of in courtrooms, and yet, were drowning in a puddle of tears over a high school boyfriend.
To be fair though, your only boyfriend. After he dumped you, you swore off men, while he went on an array of affairs with so many women you lost count of it. The tabloids had always had a sweet spot for him. “The heartbreak prince” indeed. Its only that the prince did the heart breaking, not the other way round.
You ambled out of the bed and cleaned up. It was hours before your usual time, but well, its not as if you’re getting any sleep now, is it?  Its better to get some coffee for your pounding head. Your interview was tomorrow thank heavens. There was no way you could’ve done it today.
A clattering of utensils startled you. there’s no way Steve was up this early. Your confusion was immediately clarified as you came across the very bane of your existence hunched in the kitchen.
You tried to turn back and leave as noiselessly as you could. You cannot endure this so early in the morning. You’d rather go out to get coffee, there must be some place open at the ungodly hour. Its New York after all.
He turned that very instant, as if he could sense you. his beautiful blue eyes widened as he took you in, as dishevelled and disoriented as you were. After a long minute he shifted his gaze from your face, looking everywhere but in your direction.
You were beginning to suspect that God was punishing you for all your years of antagonism.
“I was about to leave.”
His voice, his goddamn voice. Your heart had always been ready to race out of your chest and beat to the rhythm of his speech. It was ready to do that now.
Had human beings been able to survive without a heart, you would’ve had yours surgically removed ages ago. Stupid, bloody organ always getting you in trouble.
a wave of guilt hit you as he started for the exit. He had done the same yesterday, leaving moment you guys entered, Sam dragging him away to help him do something you don’t recall. He returned after you went to bed, whenever that was. And now this. It felt wrong that he was uncomfortable in his home. It wasn’t his fault that you weren’t over what he called “a seasonal distraction”.
“stay” you rasped; your voice too low to be heard. You tried again. “Stay, James.”
He stilled. Stood frozen on the threshold long enough for you to wonder if he’d fallen asleep standing up. And then he turned. His eyes full of something you were scared to decipher. The silence was too oppressive, even for you.
“we both know this would happen. We’re both adults, we can co inhabit a space without it imploding” your head was about to implode though, and not from the headache.
“yeah, right. Youre right.” He mumbled, still sticking by the door, which was a good thing because you needed coffee, and you were sure you couldn’t function properly with him in close proximity.
You turned towards the fancy coffee maker, which was far more advanced than the old spluttering relic that you had in your dorm. You fiddled with the buttons, trying to get it to work.
“here, let me.” He said, the low raspy baritone that made you shiver. You hoped he thought it was the morning chill.
He skirted around you to get to the counter, and yet his subtle smell plagued your senses. He turned the shiny knobs easily with his right arm, putting in a new filter and placing a cup near the nozzle.
“you still take your coffee black?”
The question, innocent at its core, jarred you. your ex remembering a small detail about your from years ago was not on your bingo card, but there you are.
“uh I umm, yes.” You internally cringed at the fact that you, the mock trial champion, was stuttering. He nodded slightly and continued.
“How can anyone like something like this?!”  he gagged, sliding your cup over to you.
“that’s what you get for taking a sip without my permission Barnes.” You smirked, snuggling in his outstretched arms, ready to resume his favourite movie that you honestly didn’t understand. All you cared for was spending time with him, even if it was hidden in his apartment.
“Atleast add sugar to it doll. Its too damn bitter.” He coughed.
“I like it bitter.”
You jerked at the small beep from the machine. Your eyes involuntarily went to his, only to recognise the same surprise there, as if this conversation took him to some other. the very thought of it gave you hope, and hope, you’ve realised over the years, is the most dangerous thing.
You hastily grabbed the cup, too eager to end this interaction. His presence was triggering emotions you have avoided for too long.
In your hurry you toppled the cup over, its blistering hot content pouring out. But before you could feel the burn, a shiny metal gripped your wrist and tugged you away. You staggered and stumbled forwards, bumping into his chest.
It was you who froze this time. too incapacitated by his smell, his body, him to move. You felt him draw in deep breaths, his heartbeat audibly speeding up. you stayed there for god knows how long.
It was he who withdrew. Because of course it was. You regained your composure and jumped back, frightened by the comfort that had washed over you in that moment.
“Thank you.” you gasped, and bolted out of the room right that instant.

I have something to admit in great shame.
I have resubscribed to world of warcraft.
and I don't regret it at all.
I love what they did to Magni even if the rest of the zone was kinda boring.
I AM LOVING the lamplighters so far, only got up too the 3rd light house but man such a cool idea for paladins. Extra cool that they separate themselves from the standard troops.
My main class being a paladin, so peak.
BLIZZARD MADE PALADINS COOL AGAIN AHHHHHH.
I find it funny that they ask Anduin for help. like hello? Paladin here. Not a new wow issue tho.
Also Prot pally feels better to play, having one extra big button to press feels nice, even if I wish they would make paladins slightly less bursty. have not tried the armament spec yet tho, might wait for mythic plus for that tho.
I still miss gaining holy power from avengers shield. Getting them from interrupts just is not the same.
Delves seem decent, but honestly? I prefer Torghast rather than leveling a NPC follower.
Speaking of NPCs did a dungeon and felt like a carry. It's clear they want you to pull one pack at a time rather than do bigger pulls. The fire mage and the healer pulled aggro from me before I had them grouped up. Old mythic plus habits die hard i guess.
I thought this was going to be way worse but like GOOD PLOT?!?!
Overwatch was never this fun. Man i feel like a new man again. my love for the world (of warcraft) reborn into me.
(and for those in the know, I think about writing my fic every damn day I just don't have.....something IDK yet)

Cap-Ironman Rec Week - Hidden Gems Saturday
This list was a pleasure to write up, especially having the chance to rediscover some fics that I’d loved but misplaced over the years. Wonder if it says something that the angst-to-fluff ratio is as skewed as it is :D  All of Your Lonely Sieges by WhenasInSilks Steve and Tony are stranded in the wilderness. Things go downhill from there. The story of thirty-six hours. Notes: I’m always a sucker for Ultimates fic. Steve has to take care of a Tony going into violent withdrawal and the emotional clash between him trying to give Tony what he needs versus Tony trying to cling to some semblance of a mask makes for extremely compelling reading. And the Wind Blows Cruel by dirigibleplumbing Tony’s alone at the compound with nothing but a blizzard to keep him company. Then, for the first time since he received it, the flip-phone rings. After all this time, Steve’s calling
but all he does is sing a morbid old song about freezing to death. Tony quickly learns why the topic is on Steve’s mind. Notes: I don’t read a whole lot of CACW-era fic, but this one leapt out of the pack for me. The scene setting is beautiful and haunting, Tony and Steve’s reactions utterly believable, and it’s less about hashing out the past than just keeping each other company and helping out in this moment in time. america's pastime by JenTheSweetie The thing about the Annual Intra-Avengers Baseball Game was that it was always a little... contentious. Notes: This feels like one of those fics that would’ve been written in 2014 and should’ve racked up a 4-digit plus kudos count by now, which is why I double-taked at the 2020 publish date. It’s domestic, it’s fluffy, it’s Avengers playing baseball and being shits about it, what else could we possibly want <3 Cold Front by Sineala When Tony started drinking again, no one could find him. And then Steve found him. Tony was standing on a corner near Times Square, living on the streets, selling his body to any man who walked by, so he could have enough money to keep buying liquor. It's going to be a cold, cold winter; there's a disease that's killing the men who do exactly what Tony's doing; and if neither of those two things end Tony's life first, Tony's going to drink himself to death. Tony's made a lot of mistakes, and Steve blames Tony for all of them. Almost all of them. The fact that Steve paid Tony over a thousand dollars to sleep with him... well, Steve has only himself to blame for that one.  Notes: The fact that I’ve got a Sineala fic on this list, and that it doesn’t have five times the kudos it does, is staggering to me. The imagery in this is impeccable, the dark mood Steve’s in combined with the subway ride in the middle of the night, creating this unreal miasma that is so easy to lose yourself in. Just some absolutely stunning writing. To Dwell on Dreams by fandomfrolics A series of increasingly vivid dreams prompt Tony Stark to move back to New York City after ten years, much to the excitement of the press. Steve Rogers, ex-soldier and popular political cartoonist, is not quite as thrilled. After he publishes an unflattering cartoon of the reclusive billionaire, he's granted exclusive access to do an in-depth piece on the person nobody's heard from in the last ten years. Notes: Not a ‘hidden’ gem as much as a plotty fic that could always do with more love. The premise is intriguing, the mystery of what exactly is going on set up really nicely, and I love fics with Steve and Tony meeting for the first time... or have they? ;)  Tra Voi, Tra Voi (The Getting Together Remix) by haemodye Tony's gonna kill Rogers for making him go out in this blizzard. That is, if he can find the damn man. Notes: 1872 fic! This is the second ‘Tony finds Steve in a blizzard’ fic in this list, because I sometimes have simple needs. Love the relationship dynamics here, the dialogue, the scene setting... if you know anything about 1872 canon then you know that warm H/C in this verse is just the most blessed thing. The Culling of the Stars by dirigibleplumbing Tony dies saving Steve's life on the courthouse steps. Now Steve is left with the fallout of their Civil War, expected to take charge and preserve Tony's legacy. He doesn't know how he can do it alone—not when he can't stop thinking about Tony, or keep track of the days, or even feel. Notes: 616! Civil War AU. This fic traces out a journey of grief that Steve takes, using themes from an old sci fi novel that he liked to read. While there is a happy ending and the character death temporary, what it takes to get to that point is as heart breaking as it is beautifully written and constructed.  And that’s all for the day! Please do go and shower these fics with some much deserved love and attention, it’s what makes this lovely fandom go round :)

FIC REC WEEK 14 – AUTHOR WEEK
AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT: seventymilestobabylon
seventymilestobabylon is a jack of all trades. Whether it be angst, fluff, smut, action, humor, emotional highs and lows – they manage to be fantastic at all of it. Their writing style is wonderful, and I love the scenarios they come up with for their fics. Their dialogue especially makes me want to take a green pen to every fic and write 'Yes, yes, this!' next to every other sentence. They're an amazing author, and they deserve all the love they can get.
Here's some of their work that I think you should check out:
should be a dream but I'm not sleepy
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: M Words: 4,592 Tags: Huddling for Warmth, Cabin Fic, Telepathy
Summary: Steve and Tony get hit with a telepathy spell and a magical blizzard, and they have to take shelter in a cabin with fresh milk but no working electricity. Even when they can sort of read each other's minds, they are still terrible at communicating.
Reasons why I love it: I love everything about this fic. Tony patching Steve up, drinking hot cocoa, Steve wearing a goddamn Hagrid coat, it's all great. I especially love how they manage to misconstrue everything about each other's intentions, even when they're telepathically linked. We stan a lovable train-wreck ship. This fic is amazing, and I really hope you give it a shot, if you haven't read it already!
Bring Him Home
Pairing: Steve/Tony, Sam/Bucky Rating: E Words: 13,769 Tags: Fix-it, Post-CA:CW, Flip Phone
Summary: Tony misses Steve very badly after the Accords. Some days he deals with it better than other days. (a fic featuring the booty call flip phone, minor kidnappings, and time jumps between chapters because the election has been happening and my brain has been too mush to make a proper plot)
Reasons why I love it: Steve just plays a whole fucking symphony on my heartstrings in this one. He's so vulnerable and sad and I just want to wrap him in a thousand blankets, Christ. Luckily Tony is there for him when he needs it the most. I love how this fic manages to wrap up the whole Civil War drama without any extensive focus on the politics, it's really refreshing. And the dialogue is amazing. I love this fic, and I bet you will too, so give it a shot!
Triskelion Crescent
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: T Words: 26,949 Tags: Flower Shop, Neighborhood Associations, Epistolary
Summary: Steve Rogers runs a flower shop. Tony Stark owns a real estate company (eh, and it probably does other stuff too, like it's got "Industries" in the title) that's sniffing around Steve's neighborhood of Triskelion Crescent with an eye to building new developments. Triskelion Crescent fights back.
Reasons why I love it: Oh my god, Steve's merry band of Young Avengers are the cutest. Joyce Rumlow is such a genius idea as the neighborhood Karen, and I love how Steve sticks to his friendly demeanor always, committed to doing things the right way. Plus, the entire Stony plot going on parallel to the neighborhood drama is so fucking good, it makes me grin like an idiot. This fic is amazing, and I highly encourage you to read it!
Theory of Mind
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: T Words: 28,497 Tags: Gift Giving, Getting Together, Avengers Family
Summary: Or, five things Steve didn't let Tony buy him, and one thing he did
Reasons why I love it: One of my favorite 5+1 fics. The way their relationship develops is really satisfying – angsty and cute and emotional in turns. I also love how the team is set up, their friendships feel incredibly real. Natasha and Clint especially just completely stole the show for me. And the banter between Steve and Tony is top notch. This fic is amazing, and I hope you give it a shot!
sambar and scaffolding
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: T Words: 3,665 Tags: Cooking Class, Fluff, Humor
Summary: Steve ran away from SHIELD when they unfroze him and then accidentally ended up in the same cooking class as Tony Stark. 100% fluffy nonsense birthday fic for my lovely friend Renay.
Reasons why I love it: They're so fucking cute, they make me want to mash my face into a pillow. I love the mild identity porn going on, and Chitra is a wonderful OC who must be protected at all costs. That said, don't read this fic when you're hungry, because the descriptions of the recipe they're following will make your mouth water. This fic is wonderful, and I bet you'll love it just as much as I do!

I beat World of Warcraft: The War Within (for now)
Tumblr media
Every single word I am about to write I do so with the fear of god that none of it will age poorly
(also wow this is a long one sorry that my ramblings keep getting more rambly)
The summer of 2024 is the summer of "why do I have two separate MMOs that I want to play I hate myself", cause I already had FFXIV Dawntrail a bit ago, and now we got WoW, my first MMO love who I have had a horrible relationship with During BfA and Shadowlands and All That Blizzard Shit I was like Jaina in the scene of Warcraft III with the Culling of Stratholme "I'm sorry Arthas, I can't watch you do this." But then things (as far as I know) in real life are getting better, and then they did Dragonflight which in game was getting better and I'm over here tentatively having fun with a smile on my face ready for it to go bad at any time, and that's how I felt about War Within: This looks cool, are they going to be able to do it, or am I going to be disappointed once again?
And god. PLEASE DON'T LET THIS AGE POORLY BUT HOLY SHIT THEY LANDED IT SO HARD, I LOVED THIS EXPANSION!!!! I want to talk about why!!!! And like I said in Dawntrail MMOs obviously release more content (hell by the time I beat my set goals a raid came out (I did not do the raid), so I considered "beat" to be Loremaster (all the quests), all the dungeons, and all the delves so DON'T COME AT ME WITH "BUT YOU DIDN'T DO NERUB'AR" I WANTED TO WRITE A BEAT A GAME POST FOR AN MMO LEAVE ME ALONE
Story
This is what I was scared of. I love Warcraft, I love it so much I love the world, I love the lore, I love the everything, and obviously this game has had a... Not Great experience with respecting its own universe with... good writing. So I am understandably hesitant! Even Dragonflight which was a step in the right direction still didn't grab me in some ways and was a little cheesy I did really like the avengers assemble in the emerald dream though I'm not above that; so I didn't come into War Within expecting the best thing ever, but I really did appreciate how they did this.
Everything fits pretty well within the world, nothing feels like it contradicts previous info, it actually takes a lot from the existing world and expands on it; Xal'atath and the sword was Legion, Earthen have been a thing since Wrath, Nerubians have been around since WCIII, they got Kobolds, they got a healthy amount of previous guys you know from Dalaran/other people who happened to be on Dalaran (lmao) to really make the whole thing FEEL Warcrafty and not something kind of disconnected, despite the new concepts being introduced, which made me very happy.
The story itself was great. I felt invested fighting against Xal'atath because she fucked with my mans, and I really liked how much of a presence she was; involved in everything, but not to an annoying amount, and it didn't feel like the conflict with her was bullshit like the Jailor (they can still fuck this up we got several patches to go). I enjoyed learning about the Earthen, the Arathi, and the Nerubians, and like I said it all fit really well and I didn't have any moments of like "wait what the fuck why this"; even the Arathi felt pretty well explained "oh there's an empire somewhere else we haven't seen" cool and awesome, doesn't contradict anything already existing and opens up a new place in the future.
I think the one thing that was strange was how short the main campaign was. I hard focused it on my main and it wasn't enough to get me to max. But once I did all the Sojourner achievements I could see where the rest of the writing meat went, because so many of those side stories were amazing; some I'm genuinely surprised WEREN'T in the main campaign (the Haranir got like 2 steps in the main deal and then never showed up?? do the side quests to figure out anything about this person we put in the teaser cinematic; this is like my one beef with the main campaign, anyways). So many heavy emotional hits, stories that actually made me feel. The old Earthen losing his memories I think was a highlight for me.
What I really appreciated about every quest I did was the focus on emotions, on internal processing; like yeah, this is World of Warcraft. We fight a lot. There's a lot of fighting. But this expansion takes its own title to mean more than just being in the world, and focuses a lot on trauma, fighting with yourself, accepting yourself, connecting with others after trauma, and I really really appreciated that a game like this actually managed to slow down and question these little large things that it never really did in the past. Also, even with the deeper, more serious tones being so strong, the humor this time around is really great. There are a lot of moments in the main story and in the side quests that actually got me laughing out loud. Overall, I was really satisfied with all the story they gave me and I cannot wait to see if they are able to continue this upward trend to finish the expansion off.
I also want to say "stay a while and listen"s have been the greatest thing this game has ever introduced to give nerds like me more good writing while letting other players not have to suffer through it if they don't want to.
Characters
This is also an important section which was really hard to separate from the above; like I said, Warcraft does not have a great track record of how it treats its beloved characters who can be amazing at the highest of times (COUGH SYLVANAS SHADOWLANDS AS A WHOLE COUGH), so I was worried here. But the way our returning characters were treated, on top of the new characters, was really surprising.
Our Returning Friends:
Anduin - My fucking boy. I love Anduin, he is one of my favorite characters, if not my favorite character, in all of Warcraft. Seeing his struggle with himself hit really hard, and I really appreciate how they did it, it didn't feel disrespectful, he got moments to bring him up, he got moments that validated his current state; it hurt me to see the optimistic prince in such a state, and I love where his journey is taking him. He also calls me friend and that makes me happy Anduin if you were real I would be your friend
Alleria - I think her story is going to be cooked a little longer in the future, cause for this expansion she was often in the background hunting, but I love that despite the internal AND external things trying to keep her alone, she's not so far gone as to be separated from the people she cares about; I am actually excited to see how she'll play out. The fact that her and Turalyon still clearly love and care for each other despite the circumstances makes me happy.
Moira - I very much enjoyed that the Bronzebeard-Thaurissan family got such a spotlight this time around. It was great seeing Moira continue to prove herself as a leader with the action taken + the diplomatic role she placed herself in with the Earthen. The sidequest where she gets Fearbreaker was really a place for her to shine on her own. While I was a big fan of the trio of her, Magni, and Dagran, I can't help but feel like her portion didn't stick with me as much as the other two, but that could be a me flaw rather than a game flaw. I do hope she continues to get more screentime to show off.
Magni - Did not at all expect where this man was going. Depressed and angry speaker was an interesting way to start the expansion, and I enjoyed seeing him be able to reconnect with his family, to be freed from his prison (they hatched him!), and to really start his grandpa arc/hopefully make a relationship with his daughter arc.
Dagran - If you told me that the 3 polygon baby in Ironforge was going to be one of the best characters in a future expansion I would have been very surprised. He's such a nerd but in a really enjoyable way, and the connection he has with his family + Brinthe is really heartwarming to see. I want more of this đŸ€“ motherfucker
Brann - Not really a character in the main story, but he's here and I love it, except when he tells me that those webs will summon Nerubians, and not to stand in them. I hope he gets more uncle moments.
Khadgar - Fuck. This old shitty wizard is also top contender for favorite Warcraft character, so the way this expansion started gutted me. I was actually real life mad I wanted to destroy that stupid purple elf and all her spiders; I am so happy that he's fine I am going to put him in the best retirement situation possible and he can get his girlfriend and live the rest of his life happy DON'T YOU FUCKING DO THAT TO ME AGAIN BLIZZARD.
Jaina and Thrall - Did not get to be there lmao. Thrall really got the short end of the stick being on the loading screen. The Horde as a whole could have gotten more love this expansion, and this is coming from a man loyal to the Alliance. But also you guys got a lot in the past so uuhhhhhh fuck you lmao
Side note, where the fuck is Muradin; your brothers, your niece, and your great nephew are here, your brother hatched, Where Are You.
Our New Friends (and Enemies)
The Earthen - Initially, incredibly off putting. Why are they not scottish. But I really grew to love these robot dwarves. The council was all surprisingly great, Merrix has his whole sidequest where "oh he's a bad guy" no not at all he cares about his people, Baelgrim warms up to you and is the Obligatory Sacrifice Character, Adelgonn really showed the humanity these people can have, Brinthe was surprisingly funny and charming, and I loved to see her grow closer to Dagran (new aunt unlocked let's go). Overall, it was really cool to see this race of people show both their construct nature mixed with the free will they've unlocked. So much more interesting than I expected.
Faerin and the Arathi - Definitely the strangest part of this expansion, but incredibly cool to see. I was unsure going in, did they really feel like the fit in, their vibe seems a little separate from Warcraft and more Diablo-y or a different franchise, but I was really interested in their culture, the genuine nature their society had despite the traitors (like I was totally expecting Steelstrike to be evil not to have a cooking quest with her and her family); Faerin was likewise a surprise. I see the name "Lothar" and I'm like oh geez how are they gonna mess this up and I was instead greeted with a kind yet tough warrior who Has feelings and struggles with loss and is a wonderful friend to Anduin (the quest where you sit down with Faerin and Anduin might be one of my favorite sidequests ever).
The Nerubians - Ok so yeah we're all used to these guys being Bad Spiders Go Kill which they were def introduced as, but then you get to their zone and they're presented as their own society in such a cool way?? These are people! They're spiders, but they're people! The Severed Threads are a fun trio of characters that I enjoyed talking to. Honestly, surprisingly enough the Nerubians as a whole are like, really funny? There's a bunch of really good comedic moments, some played straight which hit the hardest. (Mr. Sunflower my beloved) I loved the split in society shown, the dislike, the Reason for dislike shown between the Ascended and the normal Nerubians, I could really feel the reason for dissent against the Queen (I haven't done Nerub'ar like I said but I do wish she was more present.)
Xal'atath - I said my main opinion earlier, she was a great presence in the story and I very much enjoy her as a villain. I really like the bonus dialogue you get if you've interacted with her before. I really think she has the potential to be one of the best major villains we've ever had if Blizzard plays their cards right (I am scared).
World (of Warcraft)
Dragonflight's zones were cool; but. Nothing really WOWed me (funny joke). Going into TWW, I thought underground was cool, but I wasn't sure at first. Looked at the little pictures for each zone, still unimpressed. Once I actually got Into the game and played it though, these are some of the best zones in the game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have these four screenshots, my favorite parts of each zone, and I still feel like I am not doing them justice. They're huge, they're so incredibly varied, and you feel like you can still breathe despite being underground (and they're confining when needed). I've always said that despite the lows, Blizzard's art department hard fucking carries the game, and they continue to flex. The cities are getting so much better at feeling sprawling and lived in, an evolution from the tiny Stormwinds of classic WoW. I love Khaz Algar so much. One of my favorite parts of my playthrough was when I entered Hallowfall for the first time, during the Beledar shifting event (not the story one! the random one), and I was amazed and confused. I don't think I've felt this mesmerized by the game since I was like 10 walking through Teldrassil. Something really special I also loved about Hallowfall (might be contender for top 10 zone of all time) is yes, this feels outside. There is grass. There is water. There is sun. But then you look at the land, you look at the rocks, the stalagmites, you look up and it reminds you that you're underground. There's so much spectacle here and I feel like I could go on and on and on about each zone and how amazing they are. (I'm ending this section now but I have to say I love Bug Suramar)
Music
Piggybacking off the last section, the music this expansion has been absolutely incredible, I haven't really hooked onto as much of the soundtrack as I have since BfA; Shadowlands really just had Maldraxxus and Revendreth and I honestly don't remember much of Dragonflight's, but here it's so strong. Isle of Dorn's windy outdoor flutes, The Ringing Deeps' sound of echoing mining, Hallowfall's beautiful choir, and Azj-Kahet's plucking spider sounds, it's all so strong, so memorable and unique.
Cutscenes
Really small section here but I love the cutscene work they've been doing. The fact that we get what used to just be in the prerendered ones in game??? The models look so nice there! Yeah sure my character looks a little awkward doing default standing they haven't mastered it like FFXIV yet but I LOVE the cutscene work. Even the lower quality ones have shown a lot of character. I think of the scene with Elrich and Brinthe, he still shows off and feels like an asshole, and you can clearly see the humorous frustration Brinthe feels at being interrupted. It's great.
Gameplay
I am the least excited to talk about the gameplay here, but I really do enjoy what they're doing this expansion. I love Delves and the solo content they're doing, I think their quest design continues to be engaging and fun (even though I was a little tired of the shout instruction randomly to get item/do task and all of the pulling slowly mechanics), and even though I'm not really a dungeon guy each one was incredible, they all excelled in presentation and vibe. The mechanics didn't really get me like I think Dawntrail's dungeons did, but I imagine they go harder in Mythic which I will not be doing.
The classes I played during my session of goals were Warrior, Evoker, and Warlock, which I had fury mountain thane (later slayer), arms slayer, augmentation chronowarden, and demonology diabolist. I really enjoyed the flavor they all brought, and in the case of diabolist it's SO fucking fun holy shit. I know not every class got something cool, and I will be playing those eventually (haha two of every class split between factions I have a problem haha).
Speaking of alts, I love Warbands. The fact that I got to work on loremaster, level Brann, and work on renown across 4 separate characters is an absolute godsend.
Last thought here; Skyriding is amazing. Yeah it was introduced in Dragonflight but I really just needed to be able to fly Invincible everywhere. The fact that Blizzard finally embraced flying and made it engaging by just making the zones huge is the best path ever.
I Have Talked So Much I Am Sorry
yeah i hate this expansion isn't it clear
I really truly desperately hope that WoW continues this upward trend, continues this energy forward. I want to be able to hit each patch, to look back, and still feel the same happiness and excitement as I do now for the game. WoW is a game I have loved for most of my life. I want it to succeed. I want to say that I love it and not be embarrassed. If we continue to have more times like what War Within is at launch, I have no doubt that those things will be the case. They just need to not prove my fears right. With all of this very very very long post said;
9.5/10. The most love I've had for Warcraft in a long while. Honest competition with Legion for favorite expansion. Please Don't Fuck This Up.
please help me i still feel like i could have talked more

Vampires Masterlist 2
part one
A Leeds Vampire Problem (ao3) - Phillipe363 T, 1k
Summary: On what Peter thinks is stopping a routine mugging ends up reuniting with old friends who are supposed to be mindwiped, and meets a Day Walker.
Beyond (ao3) - SmutConnoisseur steve/bucky E, 9k
Summary: When Bucky pressed his lips to Steve’s, he could feel the warmth and love emanating from his favorite person. He knew that Steve would always worry about him, but he also knew that he would always return to him no matter what.
Bucky’s vampiric nature may have made him powerful, but Steve’s love made him feel truly alive. He pulled away from the kiss, his eyes shining with affection. “We’re meant to be, Stevie,” he whispered before disappearing into the night.
Charmingly Harming (ao3) - little_miss_crazy matt/foggy T, 2k
Summary: Stick asks Matt to help him kill a vampire. Unfortunately for them, the vampire is armed with a very special superpower.
Cold Day in the Sun (ao3) - Marvel_Kitten sam/bucky T, 1k
Summary: Sam gets a hickey, a romantic date and a spa day. Actually no, but one out of three ain't bad.
Do the butterflies memories survive the cocoon? (ao3) - fishtrombone steven/jake/marc M, 6k
Summary: Marc kills Jake in the apartment, it's violent, bloody and vicious. Their relationship is never quite the same after that.
Fangs and Muzzles (ao3) - PrinceofBadassery bucky/tony T, 49k
Summary: Tony was still trying to adjust to his new life as vampire after Obie had infected him several years ago in the hope to get him out of his company. It had backfired though and Tony was still here, although he had almost completely avoided any social life, hiding instead in his mansion. Here he could work on his invention and when the Avengers were needed he still had his suit.
His peaceful routine was interrupted when one night his defenses were torn apart by a feral werewolf.
Knowing vampires and werewolves didn't get along very well, Tony prepared for the worst, he didn't expect an oversized puppy wagging his tail.
----------- Set after Avengers 1 and before Cap 2. I imagine the team temporarily lived with Tony in his mansion close to New York before the Tower was finished.
Melt Your Walls (ao3) - six_demon_bag bucky/john E, 3k
Summary: When a mission goes wrong, John and Bucky are caught in a blizzard on a remote mountain. It’s up to John to make sure the cranky vampire doesn’t freeze to death, and in the process some feelings are exposed.
Mine (ao3) - ritalara leo/jemma E, 10k
Summary: Fitz is immediately drawn to a beautiful woman at a bar, and to his surprise and delight, she wants to make him hers.
Moonlight Madness (ao3) - SmutConnoisseur steve/bucky E, 3k
Summary: As the night sky grew darker, the full moon began to rise, casting an eerie light over everything it touched. Steve knew what was coming - the transformation that he had experienced so many times before. His muscles began to ache as his body prepared for the change. It always made Steve feel like he was running out of time, as if the moon were a clock counting down the minutes until he would be human again.
Only one thing could slow time - the love and companionship of a kindred spirit. One cursed to live by the fall of night.
They played a dangerous game, but one that neither of them could resist.
The Scientist Next Door (ao3) - DaisyBuchanan143 namor of talokan/shuri E, 7k
Summary: When a mysterious woman moves next door Namor tries to avoid her alluring presence. However as the days go by and people begin to disappear Namor’s encounters with her become weirder until ultimately he finds himself at her door.
Vamp (ao3) - Real_ism steven/marc M, 3k
Summary: They're in separate bodies - Marc's a vampire in a very apocalyptic city in London. Few humans roamed left in the vampire littered city.
Stevens luck leads him in the arms of the vampire, Luckily he was a nice one.
Nicknames - yarekah: Moon
Wake Up Dreaming (ao3) - ABrighterDarkness steve/bucky T, 3k
Summary: “I thought that was you,” the figure spoke, shadowed by the lack of light, only the light over the stove illuminating the main room of the apartment.
He hated these dreams.
Perhaps even more than the devastating memories of the too many lives he’d taken as the Soldier.

Fuente: Redes, Grupos y Foros Read the full article

Marvel Rivals Preview - Putting The Hero In Hero Shooter - Game Informer
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/marvel-rivals-preview-putting-the-hero-in-hero-shooter-game-informer/
Marvel Rivals Preview - Putting The Hero In Hero Shooter - Game Informer
Tumblr media
Both the hero shooter genre and mainstream Marvel media are currently in interesting places. Overwatch, the most prominent hero shooter of last decade, has experienced a sharp downtown since the late 2019 announcement of its sequel, while the Marvel Cinematic Universe, once a surefire cash cow, has seen a wider range of results since its 2019 culmination with Avengers: Endgame. Marvel Rivals exists at the intersection of these two categories, and my hands-on session gave me hope that it will be able to capture the magic of both of these genre’s glory days.
When Marvel Rivals was announced in March of this year, I told friends who are more casual about the hobby that it’s “Overwatch, but Marvel.” After playing it, I was surprised at how true that statement rang. Albeit, it’s not a one-to-one comparison; Marvel Rivals is a tad slower, and the third-person nature immediately differentiates the game, but the flow and level design are immediately reminiscent of Blizzard’s well-known hero shooter.
Tumblr media
“The hero shooter genre is relatively new and has a lot of fans that enjoy that kind of gameplay, that core experience of the team battle,” game director Thaddeus Sasser says. “I think the most important thing is really nailing that core experience. I mentioned team fights – the idea of two teams coming together, clashing over an objective – that’s really core to the experience of Marvel Rivals. And so, we were really leaning into the powers, the team-ups, the ultimate, and all of that. Knowing what kind of game you’re delivering with that core experience and giving players different ways to have that core experience is one of the things we want to focus on.”
I had a chance to sample several characters during my play session. I enjoyed soaring around as Iron Man and wiping out enemies with his Unibeam and missiles, blasting my opponents with Rocket Raccoon’s various weapons, setting up walls and defenses as Groot, and utilizing Storm’s various weather-based attacks and team buffs. However, Spider-Man was the character I had the most fun and success with. Using his various web powers, like web-shooters that operate on a cooldown and the ability to pull enemies to him, I was able to take down several enemies on the battlefield. Meanwhile, his acrobatic moves let me zip around the map as one of the most mobile characters in the game. Not only that, but I love his Ultimate, which webs up characters in the vicinity.
As you play matches within the iconic locations of the Marvel Universe, characters drop lines to nod to iconic events within Marvel’s history. As Magneto fired metal bits at the opposing team, he remarked how he would not allow the same fate that befell Genosha to happen here. Little touches like that really add to the authenticity of the experience, but I hope they won’t come across as too heavy-handed.
Tumblr media
“We pull from many genres,” head of production at NetEase Games Paul Ella says. “We pull from the comics themselves, from the MCU – the movies and TV shows. We’re actually pulling all the different threads in the game. There are a lot of easter eggs in this game that you hear and go, ‘Oh yeah, that connects me to the bigger Marvel Universe.”
I didn’t get a chance to experience it, but certain characters also have team-up abilities. For example, Magneto and Scarlet Witch or Rocket and Groot can pull off special moves if they’re teamed up. With a roster of 19 characters, the team has several interactions available for these moves, particularly regarding lesser-known characters.
“We have a roster that is roughly 70 percent the greatest hits that you know and love, and then we try to throw in some curveballs and then some deep cuts for the Marvel Comics fans out there,” head of Marvel Games Danny Koo says. “The team has done a great job crafting a story around Marvel Rivals. So, newcomers can just start from here. Sometimes, you learn about new characters from our movies or TV series or even games. Hopefully, we get to bring in newcomers and current Marvel fans to have the dream team.”
Tumblr media
If there’s anybody who is predisposed to love this game, it’s me. I spent more than 1,000 hours in Overwatch and am a big fan of Marvel and its associated heroes. In my limited hands-on time, I loved how Marvel Rivals played. However, if the free-to-play game adopts a predatory or exploitative monetization structure, it will squander those positives. Unfortunately, when I ask the team how monetization works, they can only tell me that while they are trying to make it so you pay for cosmetics and not power, they aren’t ready to talk about how monetization works in Marvel Rivals. And since the character screen shows an option to hide heroes you don’t own, I worry about what that could imply. Still, we won’t know for sure until NetEase and Marvel share how characters can join your roster and what they will and won’t charge money for.
Marvel Rivals surpassed my expectations. It truly feels like the successor to Overwatch I’ve been waiting for since I fell off that train. If NetEase and Marvel can figure out a good flow for introducing content without souring its player base, I could see Marvel Rivals being my next daily-play game. Marvel Rivals is announced for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While it doesn’t currently have a full-launch release window, it does have a beta test scheduled for late July.

Chapter 18- Part 10
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

Okay, this is the second most objectively funny thing the game has done, fair enough.
Anyways, there’s a lady to the side of the PokĂ©Mart, let’s fight her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright, having Crater out is not good for this, so let’s bring in Prong again to deal with this.
Charge, Charge Beam, nothing too crazy there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah- well, Bloom or Blizzard sure would be useful right now. But since neither of them are here, uuuh
Decibel?
Tumblr media
Air Cutter should do good damage, I think-
Tumblr media
Uuuuuh
well, those Air Cutters did do good damage, but the Marshtomp just used Bide and that’s really not good! Decibel can’t knock out the Marshstomp fast enough before it unleashes Bide, and I don’t know if she can take the energy burst.
Riptide though- he’s got a ton of HP to spare, so he should be able to take the hit.
Tumblr media
Instead of attacking, we’ll just use Scary Face so it doesn’t build up more damage to shoot back.
Tumblr media
And with Bide no longer in play, we can finish the job with Ice Fang.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh my gosh- I know Lapis Ward is blue, but that doesn’t mean everyone needs to have Water-types!
Okay, well- Prong should still be fine, even at her current HP.
Tumblr media
The Wailmer has
Pressure, of all Abilities, but it shouldn't be much of an issue, we'll bring Prong’s Sp. Defense up with Charge, then heal her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now- well, she's gonna get confused by Water Pulse again, okay-
Tumblr media
But she can hit through it and unleash a charged-up Charge Beam to finish the job!
Tumblr media

AAAAAAAAAAH??? THAT WASN'T EVEN A FOCUS SASH! THAT WAS JUST HOW THE DAMAGE ROLL LANDED! WHY!?
Tumblr media
Oh and of course Prong gets insta-killed on the next turn, because THAT'S JUST HOW BRINE WORKS!
Tumblr media
Decibel can avenge her, though! Even Wing Attack should deal the last bit of damage.
Tumblr media
WhyYyYyY-
Okay, Decibel's not gonna live this, we need to bring in Glare!
Tumblr media
She'll paralyze it, like so:
Tumblr media
And then we bring in Riptide, who can actually take several hits from this thing!
Tumblr media
We just use Crunch and- OH COME ON!
Tumblr media
Sure, it's not as egregious as the numerous times my opponents have lived on one or two slivers of health, but it's still annoying! JUST FAINT ALREADY!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
NO IT'S NOT FOR YOU SPECIFICALLY! This street sign better have something good to say after I go to the Pokémon Center!

GAMING RECAP (JULY 17-21)
The GameCube and Wii emulator Dolphin won't be released on Steam
Tumblr media
The GameCube and Wii emulator Dolphin will no longer come to Steam. Back in March, it was announced that the long-running emulator would get a surprise release on the storefront, but that was soon “indefinitely postponed” due to legal troubles with Nintendo and Valve. Now the team have cleared up the situation and are “abandoning” their efforts completely.
“First things first - Nintendo did not send Valve or Dolphin a [DMCA Takedown] notice against our Steam page,” the team clarified in a recent blog post, before adding that “Nintendo has not taken any legal action against Dolphin Emulator or Valve.”

Microsoft Unveils Xbox Game Pass Core, Replacing Xbox Live Gold This September
Tumblr media
Microsoft has revealed Xbox Game Pass Core, a new subset of Xbox Game Pass that will replace the long-running Xbox Live Gold program this September.
Xbox Live changed the industry more than two decades ago with its multiplayer network features, but the program’s premier Xbox Live Gold has waned in popularity for the past few years, likely due to a lack of compelling free games to download. Now, Xbox is ending Xbox Live Gold on September 14 and replacing it with Xbox Game Pass Core. This new subscription tier of Xbox Game Pass will cost $9.99 per month, or $59.99 a year, and serves as an evolution of Xbox Live Gold, according to the company.

Gundam Evolution Is Shutting Down In November
Tumblr media
Gundam Evolution, the competitive multiplayer title set within the popular Gundam universe, is shutting down.
Despite launching less than a year ago in September 2022, executive producer Kazuya Maruyama shared in a blog post that support for the game will be winding down, though he doesn't provide any specifics as to why.
“We wanted to create a title that brought FPS fans and Gundam fans together," Maruyama writes. "We challenged ourselves to create an authentic Gundam FPS game that could be played globally. Unfortunately, we have determined that it is no longer possible for us to provide a service that satisfies our players.”

Marvel’s Avengers is a premium priced game with microtransactions and battle passes per character that are 10 bucks each, alongside special skins for clients of Verizon and other companies, while the game itself runs terribly in the beta. Square Enix seems to ignore all of this and tries to convince us the monetization system they’ve implemented is “fair”.
Ubisoft’s been ignoring reports of sexual harassment and abuse for YEARS. The culprits were not even fired, but given the chance to resign honorably. Meanwhile they claim their games are not political, while also using BLM imagery in their latest game’s trailer while the movement has been exceptionally present in mainstream media the past few months.
Activision-Blizzard has fired over 200 people after a record breaking year in which their new CFO got a starting bonus of 15 million dollars, their CEO makes more than 40 million dollars a year and its staff gets paid so horribly that they can’t even afford lunch in their own cafeteria.
EA’s been recycling the same sports games with the same bugs, glitches and content each year while charging the same price for it. They’re refusing to acknowledge the ultimate team modes in these games as gambling, while the number of stories this year about how many people have gotten addicted to buying FIFA card packs have only been growing.
EA, Activision and 2K are going to charge for upgrades for next-gen if you buy a current-gen copy while Microsoft has created a system on Xbox Series X specifically so that publishers wouldn’t have to charge extra (CDPR is not charging for a next-gen version of CP2077 for example), even though most of the changes will only include performance upgrades. Basically it’s if like you’re playing on PC and they’re charging you for a higher performance setting.
This is only a summary of what has been happening in the past 8 months. Triple A games are no longer games designed to be games, but money-making machines dressed up as games. Games are designed around monetization, creativity is no longer the standard in this landscape. And honestly, I’m so fucking tired of it.

Daddy’s little girl part 3
Daddy!caregiver!natasha romanoff x little!fem!reader
Warnings: age regression
Part 1, part 2
It was early in January and y’all were snowed in because of a blizzard that hit in New York. Natasha and you were huddled up in y’all’s shared little cabin off the grid. Natasha was in the kitchen making hot chocolate while you picked out a movie to watch for tonight. You were clicking away on the remote scrolling by each movie that didn’t interest you. You found one of your f/m (favorite movie) and clicked play.
You clapped your hands excitedly when it started playing and when out the corner of your eye, you see nat coming towards you with two mugs of hot chocolate in both hands. She sat down on the couch beside you and placed the mugs down on the coffee table in front of you both. “What movie did you pick out for us to watch little love?” You giggled excitedly and told her that it was one of your favorite movies to which she nodded in approval as she secretly loves the movie too.
“Daddy? Wen da sno goes aways?” You asked as you looked up at her for a spiky second. Nat sighed and started leaving tiny kisses on the top of your head delicately. “I’m not sure baby. It won’t stop snowing so I don’t know when it will stop.” You pouted. “I wan see uncles a-an aunties!” You whined as you referred to the fellow avengers. “I know baby I know. I miss them too but we will see them very very soon. I promise.” Nat held her pinky out and you wrapped your little pinky around hers.
Nat leaned down and left kisses all over your face which started to make you laugh loudly at the tickling sensation. Nat smiled at that and pulled away for a minute so you can catch your breath. You climbed up in your daddy’s lap and started snuggling into her chest. Nats heart warmed at the sight below her and held you closely.
You were fighting sleep as you still wanted to stay up with your daddy and finish the movie, but there’s still another half hour left so you knew you wouldn’t make it to the end. You yawned for like the 50th time and nat finally decided that it was your bedtime. She stood up with you in her arms and she started walking up the stairs with your little body clinging onto her.
Nat put you to bed and laid beside you watching you fall fast sleep. Her little baby.
