Las aves migratorias están en grave peligro debido a la contaminación lumínica

La imagen muestra la cantidad de aves muertas recolectadas en Toronto, Canadá, en el transcurso de una noche por el grupo FLAP (Fatal Light Awareness Program/ Programa de Concientización de Luz Fatal).

Las aves migratorias, en particular, son susceptibles a la luz artificial durante la noche porque tienen rutas de vuelo claramente definidas. Es decir, siguen caminos preferenciales al ir de un lugar a otro en su recorrido migratorio. Sobre diferentes lugares del mundo.

A menudo usan la luz de la luna y las estrellas como parte de su sistema de navegación. Necesitan cielos oscuros para hacer esto. Si ven la luz de la ciudad a lo lejos, podrían desviarse de ese camino migratorio. Si llegan a las ciudades y encuentran algunas luces similares a las que encuentran en la naturaleza, les desorienta, confunde y puede no terminar llegando a su destino y morir en el intento.

Muchas de las que mueren, lo hacen al estrellarse con las ventanas de los edificios que tienen luces encendidas en su interior o ventanas que reflejan fuentes artificiales de luz en el suelo.

FLAP crea conciencia y muestra lo importante que es reducir la cantidad de luz que usamos en la noche y usar vidrios en las ventanas que sean menos reflectantes y no sean atractivos para las aves, para proteger estas especies.

Investigadores de FLAP junto con equipos de investigación estiman que anualmente en todo el mundo miles de millones de aves mueren de esta forma mientras cruzan por diferentes ciudades a lo largo de su migración. 

Estas especies ya están bajo estrés por el cambio climático, la pérdida de hábitat debido a la actividad humana y otras influencias. Necesitamos apoyar a sus poblaciones reduciendo estos peligros.

this is new. really, it is. siwoo's been to places before, landmarks, whatever. but being in a recording studio, to record an original song, by professionals. yeah, it's new. he feels a little out of place if anything; he's only been a trainee for a few months, and yet here he was thrusted into this project. a project that he now knew would lead up to debut.

he turns to haneul, eyes pulling away from his lines, and smiles at the older boy. "it's crazy," he answers honestly. "the first half of the song is filled with rap, it's like noel and i are having a battle. a rap-off." well not really, but it does feel like it.

he glances again at the piece of paper though, using his finger to lift his glasses up slightly. "but the vocal parts are crazy hard too. there's a lot of high notes, and what not," he comments, "for both the project green vocalists and chaerin... but i think they'll pull it off pretty well..." he mumbles under his breath after a moment.

"what about you? i think this and siren go pretty hard together, honestly," he laughs.

being in a recording studio is a relatively new experience. of course, he had done the whole thing for next gen and he had almost debuted once before, but they hadn't really been as fancy, considering that he had come from a much smaller company before he had become a trainee at lime.

"how are you feeling about your lines?" haneul asks, nudging siwoo gently with his arm when they're waiting for their turn for recording. he's been pretty proud with everyone's improvements since the project started, and he definitely thinks they've all been doing well with the feedback that they got.

"this song has a lot of rap, you must be happy," he says, thinking about it. he kind of wishes there was more of a choreography, but he also understands the balance between duty free and siren.
