Blessed Imbolc in the Southern Hemisphere. 💐 What are you doing to celebrate?
And remember that it's entirely valid not to have the energy or time to celebrate. 💖

Blessed Imbolc Ritual of Protection, Cleansing, and Healing overlooked by my patron. I had such an amazing time I wanted to share some of the things I did but won't go into too deep details as it's very personal to me and my practice.
Tumblr media
Here is the salt cardinal directions I set up. They salt is mixed with lilies and sunflowers which I hand crushed myself from dried flowers from September 2024, which were left over from decreased honoring birthday celebrations. I had a lot of it left over but only used it sparingly for this ritual as it was not the focus. I left the white candle burn down into nothing to start a new beginning. As I waited I did a tarot card reading with my patron that corresponded to each of the four directions.
Tumblr media
All in all it was a successful ritual and the first I'd been able to cast in a while. Being a disabled witch makes it hard to sit down and do these things but when I can I always feel amazing. Here's a reminder to do what you can with your witchcraft and remember that everyone's journey and rituals will always look different.

(belated) blessed Imbolc! I had an amazing time this sabbat. continuing in the tradition I set last yule, I went over to a friend's house. we burned an incense I've been wanting to burn and haven't had a chance because my parents are sensitive to strong scents. it smelled really good and we got a very nice cleanse out of it. our main activity for the day was making rosemary oatcakes that I had saved on my Imbolc Pinterest board. they turned out really good and I would highly recommend trying them, either for Imbolc or just to try an interesting new recipe. we made 2 oatcakes, which were both divided in 4, and we left out a piece as an offering and ate the rest.
Tumblr media
the oatcakes were very pretty and quite easy to make. we used fresh rosemary because I grow it in my garden, and I think that was a big part of the reason it tasted so good, so I would recommend using fresh rosemary as opposed to dried if you can. We also burned a candle, made a sigil, and made some black salt which my friend let later put into a spell jar to gift to our mutual friend.
what did all of you do for Imbolc?

Happy Imbolc!!!
Today (February 2nd, northern hemisphere) is Imbolc! (sometimes spelled Imbolg) This is a pagan holiday that's one of the 8 sabbats or the wheel of the year.
Not all pagans celebrate wheel of the year holidays, but many do. Including me!
Imbolc is often associated with the goddess Brigid (often spelled a couple different ways). Sometimes it's called Brigid's Day because it's a day of worshiping her.
Brigid also later became known as St. Brigid in Ireland because when Ireland was being converted to christianity, they allowed celts to continue worshiping Brigid. However she was later expunged from the Vatican, presumably for being pagan in origin.
Her official feast fell on February 1st, which in some places is Imbolc. Typically Imbolc is either on the 1st or 2nd.
So yeah, yet another example of christians stealing from pagans! Woo! (sarcastic)
However for some, Brigid isn't a part of their Imbolc celebration. It also marks the halfway point between the winter solstice (Yule) and the vernal equinox (Ostara), which makes it a good time to celebrate the coming of spring!
Many of these practices inspired the modern day Groundhog Day! That's not one but two holidays stolen from inspired by Imbolc! And people talk about Yule!
Imbolc gets much less credit than Yule, no clue why. Maybe because people think December is just general holiday season and obviously religions don't have any holidays that aren't in December. I don't know.
But yeah wish your pagan wheel-of-the-year-celebrating friends a blessed Imbolc!
