When the lonely Prince Aichi meets a young knight-in-training named Kai, his life changes. As tragedy tears their budding friendship apart, so too is it destined to bring them together once more.
i finished this cray-adjacent knight/royalty kaichi fic with blaster blade/alfred, please enjoy. i don't have a chapter summary.  please enjoy.

I have a lot of revelations about vanguard when rambling on twitter but I had a particularly wild train of thought when I was writing a line in a fic that basically said “blaster blade and kai have eyes that are remarkably similar to the other” and in fact, they do, though kai’s are a slightly darker teal (v series kai’s are a brighter green)
Tumblr media
Then someone pointed out that in Link Joker, exclusively when Kai was reversed, Blaster Blade Liberator had red eyes, and this messed me up, because he did, in fact, have red eyes ONLY for that arc
Tumblr media
Which got me thinking about the fact that Blaster Blade was originally Kai’s avatar before Kai gave him to Aichi. But Kai maintained a bond with Blaster Blade throughout the series almost to the same degree as Aichi and Blaster Blade. During Psyqualia arc, Kai uses Aichi’s Royal Paladin deck to force Aichi to come to his senses and even uses Aichi’s exact ride chant for Blaster Blade (”Stand up, my avatar/立ち上がれオレの分身). When Aichi was struggling to let go of Psyqualia, Blaster Blade and Kai both appeared together on Cray as dual supports.
During the final fight in Link Joker, Aichi began to refer to Blaster Blade as “my avatar”  (僕の分身) when calling him with Alfred’s skill, but corrects himself and changes it to “our avatar (僕たちの分身) ---the “our” referring to himself and Kai, indicating that Aichi knows that Blaster Blade is as much a part of Kai as he is of Aichi, and that Kai’s reversal affected Blaster Blade too (in this case, physically, by his eyes changing color).

And of course, during Legion Mate, Blaster Blade went to Kai to implore him to save Aichi, and manifested himself as a “Seeker” that Kai wielded in the Royal Paladin deck he used to find Aichi. (Something something “eternal mate of my soul” something “soulmate legion” etc that’s for another ramble.)
Anyway I'm losing my mind, thanks for coming to my ted talk.

I haven’t really posted anything on Overdress yet so here’s this
Tumblr media
A real sequel to G finally 😭. One silver lining about nations is now I can play Royal, Gold, and Shadow Paladin at the same time as Keter Sanctuary.
Bushiroad: By the way Keter Sanctuary is a dictatorship and it has lost territory to Overlord the nation I mean Dragon Empire.
(Blaster Blade roles around in his grave)
Me: Aw that sucks...I want to know the story behind that.
Does that mean Keter Sanctuary are going to be bad guys? I would still totally play it though.

Welcome
Welcome to the Beginner’s Guide to Cardfight! Vanguard: Standard Edition. Whether you’re a new player who’s still discovering the game or a returning player who’s been away for a while, this blog is sure to help you get acquainted with the game of Cardfight! Vanguard and help you start playing in no time.
Cardfight! Vanguard is a trading card game that was released in 2011, and has grown in popularity ever since. With nearly nine years of releases, the game has developed a massive card pool split into 24 main deck types, or ‘clans’, that all feature different aesthetics and play styles unique from one another.
Like a few other popular TCGs, Cardfight! Vanguard is split into two formats: Standard and Premium Standard (or Premium for short). The shift into a format based game was initially due to a reboot in the anime, and the announcement that several old cards would be getting new versions that would still allow players to play with their favorite units going into the new format.
Standard Format is defined by all cards released following the first two trial decks of the new series (V-TD-01 Aichi Sendou and V-TD-02 Toshiki Kai) as well as the accompanying first booster set (V-BT-01 Unite! Q4). All cards legal in Standard can be identified as having a ‘V’ in their card number as seen in the bottom left corner of the image below.
Tumblr media
Premium Format is defined by all cards ever released since the first trial decks back in 2011. (A lot simpler to remember, right?)
With the introduction of the new format based system, as well as increase in print runs and pull ratios for cards, Standard format has become the most widely played form of the game. And for good reason. It’s never been easier to pick up the game both in learning how to play and in affordability.
With that in mind, this blog will be focused on providing players with the tools and information they need in order start playing Cardfight! Vanguard centered around the standard format, and will also provide other resources and content creators down the road to help give players an expansive library of resources and knowledge to eventually branch out on their own and enjoy the game in their own way. Look for more to come soon!
