(Thanks for such a detailed response!! It’s only right that I return the favour now :3 (I haven’t written an interaction for Billy yet so this’ll be interesting😂. Your OCs are so diverse! Reading their bios again after seeing your response was real food for thought).

Thais

Vane will low-key grow to adore the socks of Thais. He would never say it, show it, or imply it in any way, but the girl’s love of flowers and helpful nature would be something he would cherish. If they were paired together in science club, Vane would subtly tutor Thais in all he knows about herbology by dropping small hints. It’s not often someone shows an interest in flora from an academic perspective. As reclusive and private Vane is, he is a well of knowledge that will overflow to the first person he deems a friend.

Ceridwen would appreciate Thais. It’s the little details like asking how she is and teaching her a spot of potion making that would really solidify Thais in Ceridwen’s good books. Thais’s gentle presence in a school full of villains would be welcome respite, and Ceridwen would probably go to her if she was anxious about something.

Billy isn’t interested is Thais - she’s a nerd and a weakling in his books - but she does have some traits he’d enjoy. I can picture Billy bird whistling, trying to mimic the calls of all the avian life in the woods, when all of a sudden he hears someone singing. Hidden behind a tree, he would gawk as Thais sang in amongst the flowers. Billy may grow to be a secret admirer of her dulcet tones.

Basil sees Thais as another face in the crowd. There’s nothing about her that jumps out at him in particular - she’s a studious and kind soul with a knack for singing and gardening. Granted, such a person is quite out of place at NRC. Perhaps the snake can exploit her good nature? If she wants to play with his hair, or study his snake anatomy, he welcomes it…for a favour.

Blake

Vane makes sure to keep all his hallucinogenic flora and fungi safely out of harms way when it comes to Blake. The bunny boy can see phantoms? He doesn’t want to accidentally make his visions worse by him breathing in pollen and spores. There is also no chance in the Underworld that Vane would ever have a ‘resting buddy’. His god sisters told him he talks in his sleep, and he wouldn’t want the mortification of Blake hearing something he said while not in his wits. He would probably avoid Blake, briefly nodding in greeting if they passed each other.

Ceridwen would be open to a friendship with Blake. Being a reader, she would jump at the chance to rant and rave about the stuff they’ve both read, and would appreciate the extra help with magical history. Her thirst to find logic in magic knows no bounds, so if she can grasp the root of magic, she might be that much closer to going home. Ceridwen would also love Blake’s ears. Growing up, her favourite animal was a rabbit. (And…if his dad is a writer she will demand an autograph!)

Billy wants nothing to do with Blake. He can see phantoms? Psh. Billy grew up watching sages ward off highland ghosts, and following Will O’ Wisps through the forests. If Blake has to talk to Billy - be it because they’re in a group project together, or paired for PE - Billy likely wouldn’t say anything besides grumbling short instructions and opinions.

Basil thinks Blake and Thais are one in the same. The two seem to always be in each other’s circle, so he treats Blake the same way he does her. However, there’s definitely going to be some food-chain teasing going on since Blake is a rabbit. On the off chance Blake didn’t run away, Basil would probably snatch him up with his tail, or stick his forked tongue out whilst he’s talking. If Sei has to step in, Basil will drop Blake and pat him on the back innocently.

Onaga

Vane is outta there after the first weird question Onaga asks. The caterpillar can understand wanting to discover new things, but within reason! Vane is not completely heartless, though. If Onaga is caught out in direct sunlight, Vane will make a flower nearby grow tall enough to shade the eel. Interactions will be limited to brief nods of greeting, and short whisperings on how best to grow a certain plant in science club.

Ceridwen is most uneasy around him. Her fear of entrapment came out when she learned of Onaga’s unique magic. Since he’s in Octavinelle, Ceridwen will try to be as cordial as she can towards him since they’ll be seeing a lot of each other in Monstro Lounge. Ceridwen’s own poor eye sight is something she can sympathise with. (If, on the off chance she was trapped inside one of Onaga’s spheres, she would have a meltdown.)

Billy eats eels like Onaga for breakfast. If the eel’s eye sight is so bad he can’t see a 6ft 4inch bear right in front of him, and has to get closer to Billy, I hope Onaga has a strong stomach. Staring is considered a challenge where Billy comes from. Expect Onaga to be grabbed by the lapels of his blazer and raised effortlessly off his feet until he’s face to face with Billy. Then, after Onaga blinks (and effectively concedes), he’ll be dropped and the Billy will forget all about him.

Basil takes pity on Onaga. Not being able to stay out in the sun, and being almost blind, can’t be easy. Basil can’t imagine not being in the warmth of the sun. It’s like ecstasy to a cold-blooded beastman like himself. Granted, Basil will find Onaga’s staring and mumbling unsettling at first, but will mistake Onaga’s learned behaviour of sticking close to people as making a new lackey, and essentially tease and ask favours of the eel as much as the next person.

Xeron

Vane would be tolerant of Xeron since he’s quite reserved. If going into company is unavoidable, Vane prefers being around people who don’t mind being quiet, or don’t feel pressured to keep up a conversation. Even if it’s awkward silence at first, knowing the other party isn’t phased is comforting. However, if the topic of plants (particularly getting exotic ones from Xeron’s motherland) came up, Vane could be brought out of his shell. Much like Thais, Vane’s shared admiration for plant life would probably be a good way to bond with Xeron.

Ceridwen is neutral when it comes to Xeron. Nothing he does really speaks to her, but she is impressed by his dedication to martial arts. Though severely out of practice, Ceridwen used to dabble in combat sport herself. Regaining her strength is something she’s been trying to find time for. Maybe Xeron becoming a martial arts teacher is a good way for them to get close?

Billy isn’t one to turn down a fight, and he certainly wouldn’t bring a weapon to a fist fight. Where’s the fairness in that? Working in Harveston, and honing his skills in highland sports, has built him up and made him a worthy opponent to Xeron. If Xeron can hold his own in a fight, sans magic, he might just earn Billy’s respect. However, Billy probably wouldn’t be open to talking about himself unless it was in a sporting context.

Basil will prefer to avoid Xeron. If he’s in the mood, maybe a brawl would be fun. Basil is the strongest out of all his siblings, and finding a good wrestling partner - competition - is on his to-do list. But Xeron’s volatility in battle, regardless of whether he can control it or not, has Basil’s serpentine senses tingling.

(I’m going to leave it at 4 OCs. I love all of them, but the ones I chose to write interactions for, I feel, we’re more fleshed out and I had a better sense of what to put. Thanks for your reply to my question though ☺️☺️ I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and getting to know your characters!)

Vane Millingwood

Thais Admante: Respected upperclassman she appreciates very much!! She admires him and vibes with the tending to plants and self-image issues asdff If they become friends, it's definitely through nature. Also, I noticed they're dorm mates AND club mates!

Blake O'Hare-Hill: He probably gets word of Vane through Thais. Blake thinks he's a bit too shy, but who is he to speak when bunny is super quiet. He treats Vane politely when they have to do chores around the dorm together. My bunny also likes a good rest under the shade of a tree~ A friendship could be possible, yes. Or even something simple like being "resting buddies", Vane is free to join him under a tree if he spots Blake

Onaga Sei: my eel boy probably sees the least of Vane, only when they're in club do they see each other. Sei likes to explore the world, and Vane appears to be someone that keeps to himself very tightly (aka not leaving his room/dorm much). One thing's for sure, Sei will be very interested in Vane's anatomy! He'd be like "caterpillar, merfolk...caterpillar-folk?" he doesn't know how to explain it fdks but he's curious to learn about all that. Polite, but please excuse any invasive or weird questions he might ask.

Xeron Bhatt: another one that knows of Vane through Thais because Xe's with her at all times. A serious stern fae, politely greets Vane if they cross paths. If Vane gets used to his presence around Thais, they could become a small group of friends/acquaintances. Xe likes nature and can happily bring Millingwood some tropical plants from his hometown if he's interested. They could sit in silence, but the silence probably feels awkward due to both of them being a bit awkward. Still, I can see them becoming friends!

Koron Admante: this one knows him as "the caterpillar guy". They've probably shared classes through the years, maybe even been teammates a couple times? Koron has good opinions of the boy, but would like him to be more outspoken. Their relationship is probably just that of classmates. Koron is on the loud side, so that's probably why Vane keeps some distance from him.

Jet Fletcher: He's never seen someone like Vane, to be frank. Like Sei, is curious about the type of bestfolk(? he is, but Jet will research on his own. Fletcher treats him politely, but that's it. This boy is serious, two-faced, quick to anger, I'm sure Vane can feel something is off with this 1st year. Thankfully, they're dorms away from each other. Jet has yet to find a "use" for Vane. Until then, he will let Millingwood be.

Zion Oum: This one, this one!! I can very much see Zion becoming friends with Vane! Zion is quiet, but knows how to speak his mind and quell the nerves he may get when speaking in public. He's overall very chill and welcoming. He's curious and, if Thais recommends Vane as someone to ask about plants, he will heed the advice. Always polite, always calm and patient, always respectful of Vane's boundaries. If Vane struggles doing a daily task, Zion is already working on an invention to help him.

Tzuriel: Took one look at Vane and immediately figured out a lot of things about the boy. For Tzuriel, it's get answers first, then see if he asks questions. This boy hacked into school records and got all information he needed about Vane. But no one needs to know that~ He will greet Vane all smiles and friendliness... But you can feel that, right? That cold and calculating aura coming from Tzu? Yeah, keep your distance, Vane, it's better that way. Like Jet, Tzuriel has yet to find something about Vane that would pique his interest to go pester the shy boy.

Ceridwen Christides

Thais Adamante: Sympathizes with her due to also being thrown into NRC out of nowhere. Thais likes helping others, so she's happy to lend a hand to Ceridwen with anything she may struggle with. Sees the girl often when in the science club and helping Crewel (Thais sometimes helps the professor when she can), so she's always sure to greet her and ask how she's doing. She will teach Ceridwen how to brew defensive potions if asked. She's amazed by how Ceridwen found a way to protect herself with something made by her own hands, very clever and creative!

Blake O'Hare-Hill: Oh, a potential reading partner and someone with whom to analyze story details? If Ceridwen needs someone to tutor her with magical history, Blake is her guy! Will approach her only if he sees she's reading one of his favorite books, be it fantasy or real history books. Treats her with respect and in a friendly manner. He would like to be friends!! ...but how can he do that...

Xeron Bhatt: This awkward boy will take THE LONGEST time to come near her. In fact, it would be her the one who needs to approach him. Worry not, like Sei, he will answer anything she's curious about or needs help with. He's aware he looks intimidating to some, tries to keep himself down to not be perceived. Xe wishes not to bother the girl, so he's happy not being too acquainted.

Onaga Sei: He sees her around Octavinelle and the Lounge often, but prefers to keep his distance. He is aware he isn't... the most normal looking person. The last thing he'll want to do is scare the girl and make her even more afraid of this new world. If approached, he gives her a curt nod and answers whatever she may ask him, but nothing more, nothing less. and if he sees her in trouble... he will do as much as he can to help her out of it! Just let him see her embroidery, that will be a surefire way to befriend him!

Koron Adamante: One of the 3rd years she can approach for help without being afraid of having to give something in exchange. Koron is friendly, open, on the extroverted side, smart. Really, if she needs help with anything, he's happy to help as much he can! He understands the stress she may be going through, won't approach right away, will let her come over when she feels like it or needs aid. Treats her the same way he treats Thais and his underclassmen.

Jet Fletcher: He likes the way she thinks and searches for logic within magic. Maybe she can be useful in the future? Better keep a closer eye on her. She's with Ashengrotto... definitely useful. Jet will use his friendly and charming facade with her, see if he gains her favor.

Zion Oum: one of the 1st years she can rely on. Chill, intelligent, helpful... but Zion gets a little shy around girls because he has not much practice talking to them. Still, he will lend a hand if ask, help explain the laws of this world to her

Tzuriel: Well, hello~ A totally new person he cannot investigate about... what a wonderful challenge! Tzuriel will catch her off guard and ask all sort of questions to find out who she is, what the world she comes from is like, what information she knows from Azul... Charming, friendly, playful, he will even spoil her with some beauty products and accessories, anything that can get him interesting information and gain her favor! Just don't be surprised if he ends up betraying your trust, Ceridwen~

William (Billy) MacUrse

Thais Adamante: She's intimidated, quite very much sjlkd He reminds him of the meanest Scholar back home. I JUST NOTICED HE'S A 2ND YEAR TOO JKDJA Anyways, she tries to keep her serious demeanor when speaking to him, that's her default when talking to new people and people that intimidate her. "You don't know the guy, don't make assumptions about who he is and how he behaves." She tells herself. She wouldn't want people to assume about her, why would she do it, yanno?

I can see her stumbling upon him mimicking the cries of birds when out in the forest. What an amazing talent!! can i say she find him attractive?

Blake O'Hare-Hill: Intimidated 2.0 You can't blame him, can you? He's a small bunny boy afraid of fighting and getting picked on. Regardless, he thinks of himself as open and polite, so he will treat the boy with due respect and politeness... does try to keep their interactions short, however.

Onaga Sei: Sei sees nothing wrong with the guy, why are Thais and Blake scared of him? Something tells me my eel won't try to befriend him, but he will make a lot of questions about being bear beastkin (like how he interrogates Vane). Who knows, though! Maybe they can become friends? Sei is more than fine with that outcome! But if Billy sees Sei as an annoyance.... that might fuel Sei to be EVEN MORE annoying! Curious little deep sea eel he is~ Unafraid of it all

Xeron Bhatt: Club buddies, they've probably talked a couple times. Xeron would be very curious to see how he fares in combat against Billy, Xe with his bare hands as he's used to and Billy with his weapon of choice (or hand-to-hand combat, if Billy would like). He would also be interested in learning from the guy, to wield weapons or hunt or archery, really anything. These two could be friends, yes yes! Honestly, Xe probably acts friendly towards William because he's very interested in learning about him and from him.

Koron Adamante: Admires his talents and skills with weapons. Koron used to practice archery, but let it go bc it was pushed onto him. Something tells me he would make a random comment about Billy's aim or posture (whether good or bad) and be like "Wait... what? Ah, sorry, didn't mean to interrupt or criticize you... Uh... I'll go now." Koron can adapt himself to being what Billy would like to befriend: loud and friendly, loud and cocky, or more toned down and serious. I'm unsure how Koron could be a responsible upperclassman in MacUrse's eyes, but he will try to be one!

Jet Fletcher: Strength, power... He needs that for his goal. Jet will make himself someone Billy would like to challenge in some way, thinking that that challenge will lead him into becoming acquainted with the bear. Once Jet gets to know Billy more closely? Full respect for the guy.... but he will still use him for his goal, and keep him as a friend, if the older boy permits him.

Zion Oum: This guy's too shy to approach him. Simple polite greetings if he sees the 2nd year with Jet, but that's all. Not afraid of him, but can't say he's interested in acquainting himself with Billy.

Tzuriel: What's this? Family drama?! Give me that! Tzuriel gets his nose aaaaaall up in Billy's business as he researches the boy. He's no fool, however, Tzu knows not a peep will leave MacUrse if he's asked about his family. Seems like C4ST0R will have to do a deeper search and discover things by himself. ...He also doesn't want to risk getting punched on his beautiful face dfklg

Thais Adamante: Oh dear... Thais? Or rather, an easy target for Basil? With her having friends in Scarabia (meaning, she visits the dorm frequently), loving to lose herself in nature, and being fellow 2nd years, both of them interacting through the day is very likely. When I say she's easy to fluster, it's because it's EASY. She may not be super easy to hypnotize, but to toy with? Yeah, very much. She tries to keep her distance, but she's too curious and has never seen a naga before! Excuse her wandering eyes and occasional staring "His hair is also super pretty and long... I wanna play with it!"

Nervous when around him, but keeps her "professional" front... as much as she can before she blushes

Blake O'Hare-Hill: HE WILL NOT APPROACH, NO, NOT AT ALL. He's seen the flustered mess Thais turns into, he DOES NOT WANT. Will try his hardest to not be picked on, HE WILL SACRIFICE ANY OF HIS FRIENDS FOR BASIL TO PLAY WITH TO SAVE HIMSELF (and of course that ends up being Thais 90% of the time bc it's the only one he can push forward). Has an agreement with Sei to keep him safe in one of the eel's spheres when they're together and can't get away from the naga. jifjvifo He's so silly isn't he?

Onaga Sei: At first, he thought Basil was an eel fjkjvks "Long tail? That's an eel!" Because his merfolk form has a LOOOONG tail. Sei is also fun to play with, won't get flustered but he's kinda gullible. Once he understands Basil is a python, naga better get ready for the strange questions Sei makes. They could potentially become friends? I'll have to know more about Basil's personality to tell for sure. For the meantime, Basil has fun playing with Sei and Sei has fun raining weird questions at Basil.

Oh! This guy will want to see Basil shed his skin! Finds it cool, wants to know how it happens

Xeron Bhatt: Basil may not be in the best of terms with Xe because of how he pokes Thais. Still, the redhead fae will keep things polite between them, they're dorm mates, after all. If they get to know each other, maybe their relationship can get better? ...or maybe it can get worse lol... We'll see!

Koron Adamante: Also keeps his distance and keeps an eye on the boy bc protective older brother towards Thais. due to this, acts a little cold towards the naga... but sometime, sooooometimes.... he tells Basil how exactly to rile Thais up.... but you didn't hear it from Koron!! He's unsure how to connect with Basil, so their relationship develops slowly, but I'm sure Koron will eventually warm up to him

Jet Fletcher: Hypnosis and stealing of magical power? He needs that for the future. Will approach Basil as an "innocent underclassman who needs guidance of a reliable senpai"... but I'm sure Basil senses something hiding under that, right? If he's forced to speak in his trance, Jet will reveal the truth of his plan. It will then be Basil's decision to put up with the boy's plan or leave... But Fletcher doesn't give up easily

Zion Oum: Good luck trying to fluster or play with him! Zion is one of my most aware OCs, hypnosis won't work so easy on him. Frankly, he would rather keep his distance from Basil, but Jet... he may bring the naga around. Zion will be a challenge to break, but his discomfort is evident when Basil tries to get near him. Regardless, Oum remains polite to his upperclassman.

Tzuriel: Honestly... he's disappointed by what he first found out about Basil and family... bu then he saw the medical records~ Overblot, huh? Don't mind his incessant proding for information about what happened back then~ Tzuriel is also very aware of his surroundings and consciousness, good luck trying to hypnotize him. He will probably erase Basil's memory of his anger and irritation towards Tzu, if he can get close enough when the naga is off guard (that's Tzu's UM, ability to erase select memories)

I'd like to see these two try to "out charm" the other, or act like the two popular girls at school that act like bffs but as soon as their backs are turned pure distaste comes out their mouth lol

New York Films Head to Park City for Sundance Film Festival

Nineteen films and two pilots that participated in the New York State Film Tax Credit Program will be screened next month at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Since 1985, hundreds of films launched at Sundance—one of the world’s largest film festivals—have gained critical recognition, received commercial distribution and reached global audiences eager for fresh perspectives and new voices.   Films that shoot or do post-production work in New York have traditionally been well-represented at Sundance, set for Jan. 18-28 in Park City, Utah. In addition to their Sundance recognition, this year’s crop of New York films also had an impressive economic impact while they were in production and post production, spending an estimated $38 million in New York and creating an estimated 2,448 hires.

New York’s incentive program, designed to strengthen the state’s film production and post-production industries, is one of the main reasons filmmakers choose to film here.   Houston King, producer of Hearts Beat Loud, which will premiere at Sundance, offered an example. "From the inception of Hearts Beat Loud, we wanted to highlight one of our favorite NYC neighborhoods - Red Hook, Brooklyn.  Without New York State’s incentive we very likely would have been forced to shoot the film in another state and changed the location of our story,” King said. “The incentive was key to giving our investors comfort that shooting in NYC was the right thing for their investment and the film."

One of Ceridwen’s favourites out of your OCs is definitely Blake. His love for reading and being a bunny just fascinates her. Rabbits are adorable, and having someone to fangirl over books with is something she needs in her existence.

I can picture her receiving a signed copy from an author and it being one of the few occasions she removes her gauntlets, wanting to treat the book with utmost care. It would also be a sign she trusts Blake.

(I’ve finally gotten a spare minute to sit down and write an OC interaction for you! Ever since we did the ‘how would X character react to X’ I’ve been wanting to explore them more!)💗💗💗💝💝💝🥰🥰🥰

A villain’s school was a breeding ground for bullies. That was a given. Thus, Ceridwen always traipsed through the school grounds with her fists balled and her pace almost at a run.

One morning, just as she was about to break a sweat from jogging from one side of the quad to the other, she heard a scuffling from behind a large utility box.

It was loud, but not enough to make her investigate. Probably just a bird, she thought. But when someone yelled: “Get your hands off me!” she clenched her fists even tighter, hesitated…and made straight for it.

Peering around the corner, she saw Blake O’Hare pressed against the wall by his blazer; two larger boys sniggering as they emptied his bag.

“Whatcha got in here, Cotton Tail?” one asked. His gaze lingered in a book by Blake’s father. “Aww. Daddy’s little book worm, are you?”

“See if it’s signed,” said the other. “Might be worth something.” He turned back to Blake and dragged him higher up the wall. The bunny beastman seethed as the bricks scratched his back. Why was this happening? Five minutes ago he was minding his own business.

“We’re studying one of your dad’s books in class at the moment,” the boy spat, “and nothing he writes makes any sense! I’ve written countless essays on that man’s drabble, and gotten more detentions because I couldn’t be bothered to do others.”

So what? Blake wanted to scream. The fact this boy didn’t like analysing his father’s work had nothing to do with him!

Upon hearing no reply, the boy raised his fist. “Well, runt? Seems to me the only thing your dad made was a decent punching bag-“

A metallic twang echoed around Blake as he was dropped.

Ceridwen had bashed the boy across the side of the head with her gauntlet. Like a spinning coin that’s lost all its momentum, he swayed until he collapsed flat on his back. The other one took off running.

Once she was sure the boy wouldn’t get back up, Ceridwen turned to Blake. His face was a picture of shock. “I-It wasn’t me,” she said quickly. “I-I mean, I didn’t mean to. I just…didn’t know what to do.” Was he disgusted at her? Scared? Her gauntlets were still chiming from the impact with the boy’s cranium. Ashamed, she tucked her guilty hands into her pockets. “Im not a violent person, I swear!”

Blake blinked in rapid succession to clear away the shock before making quick work of check the boy for a pulse. "Okay. At least he's alive..? Breathing appears normal."

"Hey... hear that? It ...loud." Came a faint voice. The person wasn't too far away.

Noticing the potential threat of being found, the bunny linked arms with one of Ceridwen's and fled the scene as fast he could.

After a short sprint, they arrived to a secluded place miles away from the knocked out boy. He turned to look at her. "W-What were you thinking?! Oh Sevens, let's hope there were no spying crows hanging around! We'll never hear the end of it from the Headmaster if there were! I'm sure he won't exempt you from a big scolding and punishment, eve if you're his assistant!" He spoke his worries.

However, once his blue eyes landed on her once more, a nervous and amused laugh bubbled out of him. "That... That was awesome! I never saw a punch as powerful as that before!" The laughter died down gradually. "Well, I never saw a punch with my own eyes. Fights aren't my thing."

Blake smiled sheepishly at the girl, ears flattening slightly from his shiness. "T-Thank you, really needed help back then." He said while scratching the back of his head. "Do think your actions first, though. Wouldn't want you to get in trouble."

The beastman looked at the book in his hand, ears perking up again. "Hey, I think I've seen you read in the library." Bunny cleared his throat after realizing how that could be interpreted. "Ah, sorry! That sounds strange." He took a calming breath to continue, "I just like to people watch at times, and when I see someone reading a book I like, I remember their face."

Facepalm, "That doesn't sound any better. Anyways," O'Hare tired to smooth out the wrinkled pages and bent cover from how those bullies treated his copy roughly before offering it to the brunette. "Here. I think you will like this one, from what I saw you enjoy. Apologies for... how horrible it looks now."

A shake of the head to brush away the last comment before smiling at Ceridwen. "A token of my gratitude. You can keep it. It is indeed signed, with a small note about how the story came to be on the first couple pages, written by my father's on hand."

"Uhm..." Blake hesitated once he tried to take a step, "Would you, perhaps, like to come with? It would help me not worry about that other bully coming back to get you." Nod, nod, nod. "Yes, I know I'm not good with fights, but at least you won't be alone that way. You can use me as a meat shield, heh."

Bright smile that showed his tooth gap, ears fluttering in better spirits, he asked: "So? What do you say? Library, cafeteria, or separate ways?"
