You would not walk the path of the dark. Though temptation lurked at every corner, you were an orphaned child who did not know of your origins until your infernal form erupted around you. They’d have sent you to the Iskaran mines when you were still just a child had it not been for the kindness of the orphanage’s mistress. Instead, she sent you along the path of a trusted friend to be trained in the blade under the shadow of Valkyrie’s Crest. In the mists surrounding Nordheim, it was possible to conceal anything, and a warrior could rise in notoriety and fame. Trusted companion of jarls, warrior on the field of battle, a face seen guarding ships or fighting for just causes on foreign soil. Your home would always be Iskaldrik, and you were revered until the truth of your existence spilled forth. Your vile secret and the taint of your heritage corrupted the honor that you had worked so hard to build, you thought your destiny was once again for the mines, but instead the witcher took some reverent pity on you. You, the folktale for children across Iskaldrik that aimed to rise from their circumstances to earn the coveted title of blademaster. A sword like yours would die in the mines, so instead, they sent you North to Nornwatch Tower, where you’d stand at the edge of the frigid world and protect the realm from the encroaching Blight. A dying tower and a forgotten legacy, it was your fate to wither away here until the pilgrimage of Iskaldrik called you for aid.

as soon as i saw @carrotsnake’s post (go like it!!), i had to draw this as fast as i could ❤️

Remake of a comic I did a while back. I got this idea after wondering how the Yiga powered their constructs when they didn't use Zonai batteries. I took inspiration from one of Kohga's attacks in Age of Calamity. Sooga put the poor Blademasters to work ever since Kohga was fished out of the depths. (This is their punishment for being lured out of their posts by suspiciously placed bananas.)
