A list of beverages that Stolas favors and/or would likely order:
TEAS (chosen from PALAIS DES THÉS)
☆ Blue Flowers - Earl Grey: a fragrant black tea featuring bergamot and cornflower. ☆ Thé du Hammam blend: black tea with flavors of rhubarb, rose, and red berries. ☆ French Garden herbal: a delicate blend of pear, apple, and blackberry leaves. Additional: He loves most herbal blends and will drink white/green teas, especially if they feature rose or hibiscus. However, he favors black tea.
COFFEES
☆ Frozen caramel coffee with crunchy toffee bits, whipped cream, and caramel sauce to drizzle. ☆ Iced OR hot lavender honey latte. ☆ Double shot espresso with a teaspoon of honey and some brown sugar. ☆ A sweetened flat white. ☆ Chai lattes (err on the spicy side; he loathes it sweet; always hot).
ALCOHOL
☆ Limoncello / Lemon martinis. ☆ Absinthe (obviously). ☆ Most vodkas from Ketel One (esp the Botanicals line). ☆ Red wine (favors medium to sweet, but indulges in dry on occasion). ☆ Bramble (cocktail). ☆ Gin Fizz / Gin & tonics. Additional: Honestly, if it's fruity, aromatic, or frozen - he's likely to enjoy it. He does NOT do well with beers or ciders.

Rose in the Bramble
✨A themed cocktail for the party sídhe✨
1 1/2 oz sloe gin
1/2 oz crème de violette
1/4 oz lemon juice
1/4 oz blackberry syrup or jelly
1/4 oz rosewater
Sprig of thyme
Ice
1 egg white or 3 TBSP egg whites
Plain seltzer to finish
Put all liquids other than egg whites into shaker with thyme and ice and just kinda jostle ‘em around for a second. Add the egg, cap and shake for a minute and a half. Strain into a highball glass/whatever you have/a normal goddamn glass with more ice. Top off with seltzer. Drink or offer it.
This is just a fancy gin fizz. Great for Bealtaine!

I didn't realize I can't share pics anonymously lol but maybe I will work up courage :) (or get liquid courage lol) I personally love gin, especially in a blackberry bramble. I can make the drinks if you'll fuck me on the counter after 😘 also do you like receiving pickiest because I think if you teased me for too long I would need something to bite down or suck 🥰
Also bear, one time I almost came on one of the leg machines idk how but I get you fully 😭
Ahhh yes, Tumblr doesn't allow you to send pictures via anon asks! 😋 Whenever and only if you feel comfortable, love! I won't be going anywhere 😘
Oooh, gin, hm? I had a gin cocktail yesterday. It was quite charming! It's had quite a refreshing taste to it. A blackberry bramble?! I've never had one of those. I'll have to look it up...
Or yes, you can absolutely make the drinks. I'll sneakily follow you to the bar station, catching you by surprise when you get up from rumbling with the ice. My hands will grab and grope, just to tease you. Rile you up some more.
Oh, darling, if you start biting or sucking on my neck, I can't guarantee that it's going to end pretty for you 😈 I'll start doing whatever I was doing with tenfold more zest 😏 So... if you want to be fucked until you're ruined, go ahead, bite me 😘
You and my little bear (🧸) have some interesting workout stories! Haha! But yes, I have heard of this too! The human body is quite amazing 😌

hi !! i got this idea from some of my other mutuals (evildead and ratoffstring and sharktoothedfae) can you tell me about some things you enjoy ? please and thank you !! :3
!!!!! oh boy I just took a big hit off my pen let’s seeeee
I. Love. Making. Little. Drinks. I love the rituals and craft of coffee and tea and cocktails. I love it at my job, and nowadays the only thing I really dislike about being a manager is that it means I can’t bar as often as I’d like. I love it at home where I brew myself & my partner & our roommate coffee with my French press on our days off. I have strong opinions on coffee roasts and types of tea and gin. I love light roasts and used to especially lean towards light roasts so acidic that they’d curdle milk/nondairy/etc. I prefer something that’s less heartburn inducing for my regular nowadays(Starbucks Green Apron & Anniversary Blends my beloved)(Atomic Coffee Cabot Street my beloved)(Trade Coffee in general my beloved). Likewise, I also really like shitty cumbies gas station coffee, and instant coffee, and Arizona iced teas and what have you. I do NOT like energy drinks because most of them are carbonated(yucky)(aside from when it’s alcohol that’s carbonated for some reason?). But I do like Monster’s Lemon or Raspberry Iced Tea if I ever need one. I’m just a beverage opinions girlie.
On a similar note I also really love herbs and other botanicals !! I have a little “apothecary” near my altars and also a big tea/coffee/herbs cart in the kitchen lol, and used to dabble in making different cordials and tinctures and stuff- and I wanna start doing more of that again soon. But I also just like rose and mugwort teas now. I’m in the process of setting up an old snake tank as a little herb garden and I’m excited!!! :3 My mom and I had an herb garden & a vegetable garden (+ the home to one fuckass big blackberry bramble) when I lived with my parents so I’m sosososo excited to make a little one againnnn.
I love cooking dinner and more specifically I love cooking dinner for @demonicomens . I love cooking them good food & experimenting w stuff I think they will like. I also like introducing them to the concept of a sunbutter & jam sandwich(and the next time we get bananas I have promised a sunbutter and banana sandie). I like peeling oranges for them and cutting strawberries into hearts for them. Now I’m just thinking about how much I lovelovelove cooking & baking for other people.
I have lost the energy to ramble. I love decorating my spaces. Here was my living room at some point, I wanna take newer pictures when I put more stuff on the walls (as usual)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally that gay bitch the Master (Rory!Master AU my beloved).
Thank youuuuuu

Brambles are actually a British thing. From the Soho district of London. Fred's Club to be exact, by the bartender Dick Bradsell.
The Bramble was inspired by the blackberries that Bradsell picked as a child on the Isle of Wight. After receiving some creme de mure (a blackberry liqueur) for the bar, Bradsell began experimenting and came on a combination of gin, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and creme de mure that was part Gin Sour and part Singapore Sling. Taming his concoction with crushed ice.
First shaken in 1984. No need to change what's perfect.

For the rest of my days
Have you ever been so afraid to lose something you hang onto it forever? You never let it change or grow; you do everything you can to keep a shred of it just as it was. This is how boys become baggage and hearts learn doubt.
I used to write of days so struck by wonder they became legend the second we passed through them. Like butterflies flying off our shoulders, those days dripped with color that I collected and used to pen a million pages. But even the most confident kids can’t control time, and we watched those wings migrate to new destinies across the map. I found myself all too aware of the fact that everything I have is someday gonna be gone, and I spent the next decade absolutely crushed by this reality.
I cried three times the day after the night I spent with him:
First, because I couldn’t believe it’d happened at all. The sun pierced my ambiguous eyes and tears splashed unexpectedly into my morning coffee. Somehow, without hope or full heart, it happened, and I couldn’t imagine what I’d done to deserve this.
Later, I cried when I realized we’ll never get that day back. Old fear set in. One of the best days of my life had passed once again, and I was so scared that this delicate little being would die at any sudden moment.
Finally, I cried when a blackberry bramble snagged my tan skin. I realized in many ways, I haven’t grown up at all, and that these are all the ways he said he wanted to get to know me better.
It’s true; we’ll never be this age again. We’ll never feel these firsts under this moon with this gin on our breaths or this love in our eyes. Moths turn to dust and starlight to dawn. I thought the rest of my time here would be spent writing stories I had once lived, but perhaps there are a few new chapters left after all.
I have this memory of us standing in her little apartment giving her the news like it’s not real until she knows. That memory hasn’t happened yet.
Don’t press your prom flowers. Give their seeds to the wind and put on a new song.

Supporting regional ingredient producers, Alesong Brewing & Blending release five new beers this May.

Press Release
Eugene’s Alesong Brewing & Blending is releasing five new barrel-aged blends on May 5th, kicking off the spring with their second major release of the new year. This release features new versions of some Alesong favorites and a few brand-new beers:
Mocha Rhino Suit: Mocha Rhino Suit takes our flagship, bourbon-barrel-aged imperial milk stout and gives it a heavy dose of Colombian coffee and cocoa nibs from the local artisans at Coffee Plant Roasters and Chocolate Alchemy, taking an already decadent and chocolatey beer to new heights of deliciousness.
Valley Preserves: An ode to the bounty of Willamette Valley harvest, Valley Preserves is a refreshing and jammy ale aged on biodynamically grown blueberries from our neighbors at King Estate and Oregon cherries from Hood River. Luscious fruit character explodes from this vibrant magenta-hued beer!
Stony Point Saison: A rustic, unfiltered farmhouse ale brewed almost entirely with Oregon-grown ingredients: malts from Goschie Farms, grains from Camas Country Mill, hops from Crosby Hops, and honey from our neighbors at Queen's Bounty. Join us as we continue our quest to capture terroir through the lens of beer.
Beergarden Bramble: Brewed in collaboration with our friends at Beergarden to celebrate Eugene Beer Week, this beer was inspired by a refreshing and spritzy blackberry bramble cocktail and is a blend of sour ales fermented on Oregon-grown blackberries and aged in Old Tom gin barrels from Oregon’s Ransom Spirits.
Double Barrel Maestro (Club Exclusive): Although Maestro already showcases wonderful barrel character from its year in Heaven Hill barrels, we thought we’d really up the ante with a second round of aging in 10-year Henry Mckenna barrels. What we’re left with is a robust expression of bourbon and barrel character: toffee, vanilla, charcoal, and a mild alcohol warmth to remind you of the scale of this massive barleywine.
Alesong will host a release party for Blender’s Circle members at their country brewery on the weekend of May 5-7 and the beers will be available for all at Alesong’s downtown tasting room that same weekend. Mocha Rhino Suit and Valley Preserves will also be available at retailers throughout the Pacific Northwest. For more information on Blender’s Circle membership, visit www.alesongbrewing.com/join. More information on all of the new beers can be found at www.alesongbrewing.com/beers.
ABOUT ALESONG BREWING AND BLENDING: Alesong Brewing and Blending is a small artisan brewery based in the heart of Southern Willamette Valley wine country with a second tasting room in downtown Eugene. The all-barrel-aged brewery crafts unique and small-batch beers, brewing both wild and non-wild styles that span the flavor spectrum. Once the beer in barrels has matured, the team samples and selects each barrel individually to blend. Paying homage to old-world Lambic blenders and artisan winemakers, Alesong believes that the final, balanced blend of a barrel-aged beer is much more complex and satisfying than the sum of its parts or each individual barrel by itself. www.alesongbrewing.com.

Euonymus alatus, Burning bush, Winged spindle. Though the flowers are done, the garden still has its beauty. The highlight now is the brilliant red of the Euonymus alatus, commonly called Burning bush because the nondescript green leaves turn a brilliant crimson in October.
The name “euonymus” comes from the Greek for “of good name” or “lucky.” Euonyme was the mother of the Furies in Greek mythology, the goddesses of vengeance who were like the sheriffs of the Underworld punishing those who committed crimes.
Though quite prevalent in suburban landscapes, the bush is a native of Asia and is now considered quite invasive because its berries get dropped by birds here and there. At least four states, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts have outlawed its sale.
The “alatus, in the scientific name, is Greek for “winged” and refers to the wooden wing-like structures, pictured below.  appearing on many of the twigs near the leaves.
Tumblr media
Botanists have supposed the wings increase the circumference of the branches and provide extra protection for the shrub against breaking branches. That might be the reason birds like to build their nests deep inside. The berries, as well as the leaves, are quite toxic to humans, though the shrub is neither a bramble nor a briar.
In Denmark and other Nordic countries, the bushes are called “Winged spindles” because the branches were  traditionally the source of the rotating rods used for spinning wool. The wood is a bit unusual, dark and quite strong, considering how thin it is. It has also been used to make toothpicks, bird cages, pegs, pipestems, artist’s charcoals and gunpowder.
The leaves change colors in October because, like other fall leaves, the shortness of the day slows the production of chlorophyll, a pigment that gives leaves their green color. When that happens, other pigments in the leaves become visible.
The poet Sir John Beetjeman wrote this little verse:
Her father’s euonymus shines as we walk/ And swing past the summer-house, buried in talk/and cool the veranda that welcomes us in/To the six o’clock news and a lime juice and gin
I got the shrub originally because of the biblical reference, though I soon learned no one thinks this was the bush in this Exodus story:
Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up. When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.”
Most think that burning bush was a bramble, prickly shrubs in the family of blackberries and raspberries, though some have toxic fruit that can cause confusion and disorientation. These more toxic shrubs are common in the desert around Mount Horeb, the place where Moses is said to have received the Ten Commandments.
The Monks at St. Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai, however, say their Cathedral sits on the land where God appeared to Moses and set him on his way to free the Israelites. St. Catherine’s, the oldest continuously inhabited Christian monastery, has been around for more than seventeen centuries. On display in front of their Cathedral is a bramble believed to be the descendant of the original shrub. Visitors to the sacred bush, pictured below, must remove their shoes as the Bible says God commanded Moses to do as he approached.
Benny Shanon, a professor of cognitive psychology at Hebrew University, does not believe the bush was burning at all and that Moses was actually having a hallucinatory experience. I guess the prophet should not have eaten those bramble berries.

A toast to Dick Bradsell!
The Bramble, invented in 1984 by British barman Dick Bradsell, is one of the few drinks that fall into the category of “modern classics.” One of the founding fathers of London’s cocktail scene, Bradsell created this cross between a Cobbler and a Gin Sour while working at Fred’s Club in SoHo —using entirely British products— the bramble (blackberries) lending a flavour “reminiscent of his childhood on the Isle of Wight. Bradsell was known as “the riesling of the cocktail world, known by drinks weenies since seemingly forever.”
