“Rite Here, Rite Now”: Ghost’s first film released worldwide with two unique screenings on June 20 and 22, 2024. Now, anyone who has any contact, even casually, with the world of the occult, cannot help but notice these two dates. Personally, I dedicate a ritual to the moments that mark the passage of time: the equinoxes, solstices, lunar cycles: powerful moments in which the internal forces of the earth and the sky form a unique dance. The summer solstice is the moment when the sun enters the sign of Cancer, giving rise to the summer season. It's the day when the night is shorter, and sunlight illuminates the northern hemisphere of our planet the longest. In my hometown, Florence, sunrise will be at 5.31 am and sunset at 9.02 pm (Italian summer time), for a total of 15 hours 31 minutes of sunlight. According to pagan traditions, in the solstice (called “Litha”) ghosts can return from the world of the dead and wreak havoc and chaos in the world of the living….(Shakespeare described it in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”). This year the summer solstice will be on June 20th, at 10.50 pm (Italian summer time). And tomorrow evening at that time I, like many others, will be in a cinema watching the premiere of “Rite Here, Rite Now"… Mister Forge, are you going to mess up our lives? Well, we’re ready. This year is characterized by the close proximity of the summer solstice with another very powerful celestial phenomenon, namely the First Summer Full Moon, the so-called "Strawberry Moon”, so called because berries, strawberries and other berries, reach maturity in this period . And because very often, due to a series of refraction phenomena, the full moon takes on a beautiful reddish color, completely similar to that of wild strawberries. This year the Strawberry Moon will be on June 22nd at 3.07 am (Italian summer time), at 1°06 in Capricorn, almost perfectly opposite the sun in Cancer. And on June 22nd I will be in the same cinema for the second screening (yes, I treated myself to a double viewing of the film: I am a devoted fan), even if at 3.07 it will have been over for at least a couple of hours. Another strange case, Mister Forge? When I celebrate any rite, even a simple evening meditation, I prepare my table with the objects I use: candles, two green or red and two black, a salt bowl, a water bowl, an incense base, a tray with prayer necklace and wooden circles. When I return from the cinema on both days, my table will be ready to pay homage to the sun and the moon with a ritual that is very important for me. And I will probably burn, together with the incense, the cinema ticket…. Happy viewing to all Ghost fans.
