Thinking about how beyond beyond beyond is about hope actually. Like it starts with scars, which is about how you cant change and things were always going to turn out this way, but we as the listener are ment to challenge this idea. And the first half of the album isn't very hopeful at all, but then you get to arcturus beaming and it's about finally finding this glimmer of hope. And then the very next song is time will change you which is almost the exact opposite of scars in terms of message, saying you can change, you can grow.
And then! Black hole fantasy! Which seems like it's going to be a standard song about pining but never being brave enough to take the first step but then the bridge happens and the narrator chooses to be brave! And in the last verse she does break the pattern and is happy! And it leads directly into red clay which is about being brave and taking the steps towards a better life
And it ends with river rushing, this anthem of freedom and it's so good this album is so good

bc i'm curious. idk if this'll spread beyond (beyond beyond) the mutuals but it would be cool if it did
i didn't include the singles we've already heard bc i feel like they'd have an unfair advantage

“im pulling in the driveway, im turning off the car” having so much narrative weight bc earlier was “even in my fantasy, i keep the car running in case I need to take off” it portrays the feeling of the song so well im going insane

Everyone's talking about Black Hole Fantasy "I'm turning off the car" but never Higher Ground's "Am I in danger, or am I the threat?" or "I didn't want to hurt anyone" or "I can't get a line of sight on the future"

when boygenius said "black hole opened in the kitchen / every clock's a different time / it would only take the energy to fix it" and when the Crane Wives said "The days blur together / I watch the ceiling buckle, the walls are closing in / There's a black hole in the living room floor / I keep trying to ignore, but it's growing"

"If love is just a chemical reaction, is there a pill to take? Something to quell this ache." Is lowk an unintentional aromantic banger of a line

What if I'm on my way to your house, guided by the stars. Perchance, I'm pulling in the driveway and turning off the car. Possibly, I'm running to your porch, I'm sprinting up the stairs. Maybe you're beaming down at me, you're reaching out for me.
