Soft asks please!
peaches - do you have a skincare routine?
kiss - have you ever kissed a friend?
sapphos - favorite poet?
I am a skincare junkie and collect/use a lot of products; my routine changes accordingly. I recommend putting sunscreen on every day, even my sensitive skin can handle bioré uv aqua rich, now that it's finally come to Canada!
I have kissed a friend, and now I'm kissing you, dear anon!
I love W. B. Yeats, and have always been haunted by The Stolen Child (1889). Excerpt:
Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild With a faery, hand in hand, For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.
He was admitted into a secret society and took the magical motto Daemon est Deus inversus—translated as 'Devil is God inverted'.
And I just think that's cool.

Intro and Index
I mainly post about skincare; product reviews, recommendations, tips, etc. I won't link any of my sources - most of the time i write what i remember and my research isn't organized at all. So just trust me bro (do your own research).
I try to make it as beginner friendly as i can by writing definitions, but do tell me if anything's missing or if you have questions. 👍
Search the definition of a term by searching "Def. term" on my blog (the capitalization and the period don't matter).
ex: Def. hyperpigmentation | def hyperpigmentation
I'm (very) slowly getting into makeup so it's possible i could be also posting about that in the future. I also want to get into hair care.
Hope these posts by BTS Suga (i am Suga from BTS) help you.
*I haven't written all my knowledge down yet, so be patient with me.

Targeted Solutions: Makeup Remover Wipes for Waterproof and Long-Wear Makeup
Tumblr media
Finding the perfect makeup look involves layers of primers, color correctors, foundation, waterproof mascaras and transfer-proof lip stains. The combination keeps complexions photo-ready for hours on end. Yet at day’s end, removing those tenacious long-wear cosmetics without aggressively scrubbing tender skin proves incredibly challenging. Typical makeup wipes fail to dissolve stubborn waterproof products, forcing vigorous rubbing that aggravates delicate skin. Fortunately, specialty remover wipes uniquely formulated to erase even the most unrelenting makeup provide a gentle, effective solution. Keep reading to discover the best eye makeup remover wipes and face wipes for whisking away stubborn cosmetics in a single swipe!
Game Changing Cleansing Cloths
In the battle against waterproof makeup and long-wear foundations, oil-infused wipes bring game changing relief to sensitive skin. Pre-soaked with botanical oils like coconut, olive and jojoba, these gentle cloths work in tandem with skin, melting down waxes and pigments instantly upon contact. The textured fabric lifts cosmetics away without any pulling or harsh friction that stresses delicate skin. Simple’s Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes harness the gentle touch of soothing chamomile and vitamin E. Just a few wipes leave zero makeup or residue behind, just happy skin.
Micellar Magic
The latest innovation for effectively yet gently removing stubborn makeup comes from micellar water-infused wipes. Micelles work like microscopic magnets that latch onto makeup, oil and impurities while gently escorting them off skin without abrasive rubbing. Garnier’s SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Wipes feature an extra-large textured design saturated with hardworking micelles. These hero wipes make erasing even waterproof mascara and transfer-proof lip stains easy and comfortable. Bioderma’s Sensibio H2O Wipes formulated for sensitive skin also harness micelles to cleanse away cosmetics without disruption to skin’s protective barrier.
Exfoliating Wipes
For those dealing with congested pores and textured skin on top of heavy makeup, exfoliating wipes provide the perfect solution. These textured cloths gently buff away dead skin cells, debris and cosmetics in a single step while refining skin. The soft microfibers won’t abrade delicate zones. Wipes infused with glycolic acid, lactic acid, or nourishing fruit enzymes like papaya and pineapple enhance the exfoliating effects. For a balancing formula targeting acne and blackheads on oily skin types, try Bioré’s Charcoal Acne Clearing Scrub Wipes to purify and smooth while removing stubborn makeup easily.
Soothing Eye Makeup Removers
The thin sensitive undereye region prone to milia and puffiness requires an even gentler approach. Look for makeup remover wipes specifically designed for the eyes to avoid irritation and redness when erasing eye products. Oil-free, fragrance-free and hypoallergenic formulas ensure waterproof mascara and stubborn eyeliner lift away without bothering this delicate zone. Neutrogena’s Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover Wipes with vitamin E soothe and condition even the most reactive skin types when removing heavy eye makeup. No rubbing required!
Biodegradable Cleansing
In addition to makeup melting efficacy, many consumers rightfully consider environmental impact when selecting facial wipes. Brands like Yes To now formulate biodegradable makeup remover cleansing wipes featuring plant-based fibers that break down through composting rather than sitting in landfills indefinitely. Yes To’s Grapefruit Vitamin C Glow-Boosting Biodegradable Makeup Remover Wipes check all the boxes, erasing stubborn products easily with the natural power of antioxidant-rich grapefruit and moisture-binding glycerin. Skin emerges fresh, hydrated and balanced.
Conclusion: Streamlined Skincare with Next-Generation Makeup Remover Wipes
When dealing with long-lasting complexion products that resist easy removal, oil-infused, micellar water-packed and soothing makeup remover wipes simplify the cleansing process immensely. Just reach for the textured cloth designed for your skin type and target concerns to whisk away even the most stubborn waterproof mascara, eyeliner and foundation easily and comfortably without any harsh rubbing. Next generation wipes make achieving clean, happy skin each night a breeze!

Bioré UV Light Up Essence SPF 50+ PA++++
It feels nice on the skin and not oily at all, but it keeps pilling no matter what i do. I have waited in between my skincare steps for the previous product to be properly absorbed before applying the next, but this sunscreen pills no matter what; even after 30 minutes! Like, i have places to go???
[Def. Pilling is when the product isn't getting absorbed into the skin and sits on top of it. When you gently rub it, little flakes of the product form on top of your skin.]
It may happen because my skin is somewhat oily, but other people have also experienced the same (online reviews). My friend has bought a different type of Bioré sunscreen and it also pills on her face. (Biore UV Aqua Rich Aqua Protect Lotion SPF50+ PA++++)
It seems like no matter how much time it has been since you applied any product to your face, the sunscreen will pill. It pilled when i only had my skincare from the night before and didn't cleanse or apply anything else the morning of.
However, it does not pill when you apply it to your body.
At mentioned above, this sunscreen does have a good light texture and feels comfortable on the skin. It also has an intentional brightening effect that might give a very noticeable white cast on people who have tanner and darker skin.
[Def. A white cast happens when sunscreen isn't completely clear/absorbed when applied and makes you look like you have a layer of white paint on your face.]
If you have skin similar to mine (see my skin type), i would not recommend this sunscreen.
Prices in Canada (CAD):
Bioré UV Light Up Essence SPF 50+ PA++++ | ~20$ / 70mL
Biore UV Aqua Rich Aqua Protect Lotion SPF50+ PA++++ | ~20$ / 70mL

When it comes to finding the perfect skin care brand, there are a few key things to keep in mind. Some Pros of choosing a specific skin care brand include that the products are high quality and affordable, which can be tough to find with other brands. Additionally, some cons may be that the brand may not have specialty items or be as popular as others. Ultimately, it is important to do your research before making a decision, as each brand has its own pros and cons!
Skincare Routine: What is a skincare routine like and what should you do each day?
A skincare routine is like a recipe. You should typically do it every day, but there are some exceptions.
Some people only need to do it once a week and others may do it multiple times a day depending on their skin type. Your skincare routine should include:
- Cleansing: This includes taking off all of your makeup, washing your face with warm water and soap, and rubbing in a light moisturizer. It's important to avoid over-cleaning as this can lead to acne or dry skin.
Foundation: Apply foundation to your face using a brush or fingertips. Be sure not to rub too much product in; use about 1/4 of the amount that you would use for your hands.

a comprehensive review: bioré UV aqua rich light up essence SPF 50+ PA++++ / is this the answer to all our sunscreen needs post-SPFgate?
12,80€ / 70g on yesstyle (use code BIRDKOSKIN for a discount)
i ordered this newest iteration of bioré’s sunscreen line since KAO, bioré’s parent company, has been one of the few to emerge relatively unscathed from SPFgate, with third-party tests proving that their products meet the labelled sun protection. i’d used bioré sunscreens before; the 2017 version of the watery essence was my HG for a bit, but i didn’t enjoy the 2019 reformulation as much.
about the product: the light up essence is an untinted cream-type formulation with a soft, white floral scent. as the ‘light up’ name suggests, it’s intended to create a light-diffusing effect that brightens the skin’s appearance and blurs imperfections, while forming an “outer skin” film that protects from particulate matter and pollutants. it contains humectant and moisturizing ingredients (royal jelly, hyaluronic acid and butylene glycol), as well as sebum-absorbing compounds. it claims to be suitable for the face and body, as well as for mask wearing, and it is water- and sweat-resistant, although it can be washed off with simple cleansers. it’s also purported to work as a good base for makeup.
ingredients: water, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, ethanol, butylene glycol, isopropyl palmitate, titanium oxide, bisethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyltriazine, ethylhexyltriazone, dimethicone, crosspolymer (lauryl methacrylate / sodium methacrylate), hydrogenated polyisobutene, diethylaminohydroxy hexyl benzoyl benzoate, silica, hydrous silica, mica, dextrin palmitate, dipentaerythrityl tripolyhydroxystearate, (acrylate / alkyl acrylate (C10-30)) crosspolymer, triethoxycaprylylsilane, cetanol, glyceryl stearate, hydroxy ethyl cellulose, polysolvate 60, polysilicone-9, aluminum hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, royal jelly extract, sodium hyaluronate, tin oxide, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, disodium EDTA, BHT, fragrance
this is a hybrid sunscreen, that is, it has both organic (chemical) and inorganic (mineral) filters, though mainly the former. it contains octinoxate, tinosorb S, and uvinul T 150 (all organic filters), as well as titanium oxide (a mineral filter). hybrid sunscreens aim to be “the best of both worlds”, lessening white cast and allowing for a less greasy feel.
first impressions / notes during use:
love, love, love the new packaging! so much better than the previous shiny tubes with screw-caps — a flip-top is much more practical and accessible. it dispenses a good amount.
the scent is very pleasant, just light enough to not be obtrusive. it’s an improvement from the scent of the 2019 reformulation of the watery essence. (to the anon who asked: i can see how it may feel like a mango scent! it’s fresh and pleasant and it makes application very enjoyable for me.) it dissipates quickly enough.
the texture is lovely and lightweight. not runny, yet easily spreadable, and it sets quickly. i don’t feel any stinging from the alcohol, nor does it feel heavy on the skin, although i can notice the slight film it forms (which is something you actually want your sunscreen to do, it may just take some getting used to for some folks).
not much white cast that i could detect, but remember, i’m as white as white gets. it does have titanium dioxide in its ingredients list, so YMMV. the whole ‘light-up’ effect is intended to brighten the look of the skin, so for the darker end of the spectrum that could be a dealbreaker.
freshly applied, the finish is a toned-down dewy look that after a few minutes mattifies slightly to a satin/pearly finish. it’s still not matte by any means, but that’s not the point, given the advertised “light diffusing effect”. i do think it looks flattering.
the alcohol was no issue for my semi-sensitive skin, it doesn’t feel excessive, but YMMV.
i didn’t experience any issues wearing it under a mask (i apply more lightly on the areas the mask covers, if i know i’ll be wearing one almost all day long, as is the case for work); no extra maskne beyond the usual, nor any irritation.
it does work nicely under makeup, as per the brand’s claims. i suppose compatibility with your foundation of choice may depend on its formulation, but for me, my missha bb cream didn’t break up or smear around, nor was its finish significantly affected.
this is not vegan and bioré sells in china and therefore isn’t considered cruelty-free, so keep that in mind if it’s something that influences your buying choices.
overall: this feels like a solid everyday sunscreen for pretty much any skin type; however, the light-up effect may come across as a white cast on darker skin tones. i wouldn’t rely on it for heavy-duty sun protection if i were, say, outdoors at the beach or hiking in high UV levels all day, but for all other purposes it’s very comfortable. bioré is a reputable company, so i feel safe relying on them for sun protection. i also feel like the price point is very fair. i’d be careful if you have very sensitive skin, due to the presence of alcohol, chemical UV filters and fragrance, although i have some sensitivity and saw no issues. otherwise, i would recommend this as a good daily SPF choice.
