Hey there! Do you know where I could find the pencil versions of the Biometals and the Mega Man (ZX) armors ❓ I've been trying to learn the style, and I've felt like tearing my hair out a few times because I don't know how one is supposed to draw a Biometal. (Emoji is there because my keyboard seems to hate the question mark right now)

Hi, Unfortunately, the ZX series was not lucky enough to get a major artbook, so there is a lot of concept art we have long hoped to see, but has never been officially released. Certainly not to the extent that the vast majority of the rest of the franchise has seen. While the Zero/ZX Legacy collection gave us a little bit in pretty nice quality official art, concept sketches are few and far between. Most of what I am posting here can be seen on the wiki as well. Biometal Model X is basically the only one that got a color turnaround as your best reference, a piece that was seen in strategy guides and other spots in the past. These are all I can screenshot to assist with:

We know there is more out there, as people who attended the 20th anniversary event in Tokyo back in 2007 took pics of some concept art that was framed and viewable:

But great quality, detailed scans or digital releases? Sorry, sadly just not out there yet. Hopefully one day...

Model-SOL/Surrogate Solver

Sedna, a Reploid, came from an era where legendary beings of the past were compressed to 'Biometals', going to destined 'Biomatches'.

In her universe, this led to the Game of Destiny and ensuing chaos, especially with the dangerous Model W pulling the strings.

Sedna's main specialty in study were 'anomalous' and rare Maverick events, namely Lumine centuries ago.

Sedna reached a breaking point as her progress plateaued, and Legion wanting results. Legion offered her test subjects: Prisoners. Sedna refused, citing ethics. This made her, in turn, a political Maverick for disobedience to Legion.

It was then she was approached by Olivine Rail's Ecology department, with her knowledge on what she'd learn were 'Eldritch Bio-Cybnetics' and Biometals. She was tasked with going to a universe where an Ancient Solver was dying from her advanced age.

This Solver was different from the Absolute Solver known to many. She had lived far beyond comprehension, consuming and growing, entering stages of long hibernation to rest, and had millions of Drones and Hosts over her lifetime.

She knew she was dying, and feared losing all of the data she'd accumulated.

Sedna and Ancient Solver bonded quickly, and through experimentation, found the solution. Shortly before the NULL death, where Ancient Solver would collapse to a black hole, her core produced a perfect copy, Zipped into a Biometal like form.

There are two main forms:

Model-SOL: Portable but limited in her ability. Often moves via levitation or propulsion via tentacles. These same tentacles are also used to latch onto things (usually Sedna's upper arm). Can defend herself by overloading a system with information (Zip-Bomb), or for more physical attacks, a deluge of terrible-tasting slime (Hackfish).

SurrogateSolver: When Sedna has an Outpost set up, or is doing her work in Olivine Rail proper, Model-SOL temporarily 'unzips' and is seen as stray tentacles that assist Sedna. These tentacles can become tools to help. Here, she can take in data and use it to create medicines/vaccines, or random but stable bio-cybernetic combinations to help out other, very young Solvers (to allow them to create genetically unique but sound Drones)

In personality, SurrogateSolver is maternal, and sometimes laments at no longer being able to produce offspring (drones or new Solvers). She has adapted to becoming a good 'foster parent' to those under her wing (Eris and Haumea). As Model-SOL, SurrogateSolver has enjoyed newfound portability and is eager to see things from a new perspective.

Mega Man has the goofiest fucking localization changes with names sometimes even if changing Rock Man to Mega Man was a good cool but I really think the funniest fucking thing that spanned across two series unintentionally was the fact they had to change VAVA to Vile since there asses in the states couldn’t get away with a clear Star Wars inspired character without too much copyright and that caused the domino effect later of them NAMING a fucking dude in Japanese Dr Vile and went “shit we can’t have people be confused- let’s rename him Weil and have it be German so it’s pronounced the same as if kids playing this game will know this and also just think he’s Wily due to the spelling”

Well, today I learned that in the Mega Man ZXA manga, Aile in her Model OX form appeared as the final boss. Too bad the manga ended right after her reveal, so we'll never know what happened.

Would have loved to see Aile wreck everyone's shit.

Hey there! I've noticed you draw a lot for Star Force and ZX. Do you have any tips for A. Drawing Omega-Xis' head B. Drawing the Biometals because they are somehow REALLY HARD TO DRAW and C. Any particular design elements the ZX characters have❔ (Emoji because my keyboard hates question marks)

well these are important questions so ❔ is necessary here XD

anyhow, i hate to disappoint you💦but i don't have any tips to draw them.

when i want to draw more accurately, i just use their 3d model

i could tell you how i usually sketch omega-xis head

the most important thing is to draw his snout (?) first just so you know where he is facing
