Places I visited during the New Delhi to Almora trip
After planning and thinking for around a year, finally i visited Almora. I was aware that I would get pleasant weather from March to June and September to November. I was so excited about this trip because Almora is not a normal place. It is a hill station in Uttarakhand, India, and is known for its cultural heritage, natural beauty, and spiritual significance.
I joined a group from New Delhi and with them in contributing booked a Cab for this 8 hours of long road trip. The same cab will also take us home back, and will also help us explore Almora. However, before leaving New Delhi, we also explored all the best places to stay near Jageshwar Dham and booked Stonewood Homestay.
Stonewood Homestay is the best resort and hotel near Jageshwar temple, and if you ask me why we have chosen a place near Jageshwar Dham, then let me tell you that it is in the middle of all the places we are going to explore additionally, we will get all the modern day facilities along with homegrown food and local cuisine.
Here are some of the best places to visit in and around Almora:
Kasar Devi Temple: A historic temple dedicated to Goddess Kasar Devi, this site offers panoramic views of the Himalayas and is known for its serene ambience.
Almora Fort: Built in the 16th century, this fort provides insights into the region's history and offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
Nanda Devi Temple: Located in Almora town, this temple is dedicated to Nanda Devi, the local goddess, and is an important pilgrimage site.
Jageshwar: About 36 km from Almora, this ancient temple complex is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is surrounded by lush deodar forests. Since we were staying in a hotel near Jageshwar temple, they guided us and helped us get a memorable experience of this temple.
Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary: Approximately 30 km from Almora, this sanctuary is home to various wildlife species and offers excellent trekking opportunities.
Chitai Golu Devta Temple: Located around 9 km from Almora, this temple is dedicated to Golu Devta, a local deity, and is famous for its unique offerings.
Lakhudiyar Caves: These ancient caves contain prehistoric rock paintings and are a fascinating site for history enthusiasts.
