Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena AARO Report
Sean Kirkpatrick speaking to Senate Armed Services Committee One of the most repeated false media reports is the claim that aliens in spacecraft regularly visit Earth and want to affect human history. In our day of conspiracy theories, there are stories that the United States government has been hiding alien contact. Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick was the director of the U.S. Department of Defense’s…

Archives of the Impossible conference | Flash Talk: Colm A. Kelleher
Colm A. Kelleher, program manager of the Advanced Aerospace System Weapons Application Program (AAWSAP) and a contractor at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), presented a talk titled "UFOs and Psi Phenomena: Lessons Learned from the Pentagon’s AAWSAP UFO Investigations" as part of "Archives of the Impossible: Transnationalism, Transdisciplinarity, Transcendence." The May 11-13, 2023 international conference at Rice University featured speakers and panelists who set out to demystify the paranormal through their research and experiences regarding metaphysics, UFOs and much more.
Between 1991-1996, Kelleher was an immunology research scientist at the National Jewish Center in Denver, Colorado. From 1996-2004, he led the National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS) team on Skinwalker Ranch as well as multiple other NIDS projects. From 2004-2008, he served as laboratory director at San Francisco biotechnology company Prosetta where he led teams of scientists in executing Department of Defense (DoD) contracts to discover drugs against Ebola virus and other viruses of interest to DoD.
In 2008, Kelleher became deputy administrator of Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS) where he led the day-to day operations in executing the AAWSAP contract with Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). From 2012-2020, he led the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) Department at Bigelow Aerospace where he managed projects that cumulatively resulted in the building of life support systems for expandable spacecraft in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Kelleher co-authored "Hunt for the Skinwalker" in 2005 with journalist George Knapp and "Skinwalkers at the Pentagon" in 2021 with James Lacatski and George Knapp.

“Between 2007 and 2021, the U.S. government authorized three distinct efforts to investigate and evaluate UFO/UAP incidents, cases, and effects - the acronyms were AAWSAP, AATIP, and the UAPTF. Only one person in the entire Defense Department had a key role in all three programs. Jay Stratton was a career intelligence officer who worked for the Office of Naval Intelligence, the Defense Warning Office of the DIA, and in other sensitive national security programs. He specialized in the reverse engineering of technologies, threats, and future scenarios. In 2007, he was recruited to consult with the DIA-funded investigation known as AAWSAP, the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program, a contract awarded to a private company affiliated with Bigelow Aerospace. The first case he investigated was the now-famous "Tic Tac" UFO incident. After AAWSAP ended, Stratton worked closely with Lue Elizondo on a successor effort known as AATIP, which focused exclusively on military encounters with UFOs. After Elizondo left government, Stratton was asked to form a new program that eventually was formalized by Congress as the UAP Task Force. During those years, he created a massive, classified briefing presentation that was delivered to Pentagon officials, intelligence agencies, defense contractors, and members of Congress. Stratton left government in 2021 and is currently employed by Radiance Technologies. The interview with WEAPONIZED is the first public statement he has ever made about his work as the government's top UFO hunter.”

Full story under the break:
By Ralph Blumenthal
Dec. 18, 2017
Our readers are plenty interested in unidentified flying objects. We know that from the huge response to our front-page Sunday article (published online just after noon on Saturday) revealing a secret Pentagon program to investigate U.F.O.s. The piece, by the Pentagon correspondent Helene Cooper, the author Leslie Kean and myself — a contributor to The Times after a 45-year staff career — has dominated the most emailed and most viewed lists since.
So how does a story on U.F.O.s get into The New York Times? Not easily, and only after a great deal of vetting, I assure you.
The journey began two and a half months ago with a tip to Leslie, who has long reported on U.F.O.s and published a 2010 New York Times best seller, “UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record.” At a confidential meeting Oct. 4 in a Pentagon City hotel with several present and former intelligence officials and a defense contractor, she met Luis Elizondo, the director of a Pentagon program she had never heard of: the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program.
She learned it was a secret effort, funded at the initiative of the then Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, starting in 2007, to investigate aerial threats including what the military preferred to call “unidentified aerial phenomena” or just “objects.” This was big news because the United States military had announced as far back as 1969 that U.F.O.s were not worth studying. Leslie also learned that Mr. Elizondo had just resigned to protest what he characterized as excessive secrecy and internal opposition — the reason for the meeting.
She spent hours with him reviewing unclassified documents, for the $22 million program operated largely “in the white” (that is, not under special restricted access), but hidden in the huge defense budget, with only parts of it classified. A few days later Mr. Elizondo and others there — including Harold E. Puthoff, an engineer who has conducted research on extrasensory perception for the C.I.A. and later worked as a contractor on the program, and Christopher K. Mellon, a former deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence — announced they were joining a new commercial venture, To the Stars Academy of Arts and Science, to raise money for research into U.F.O.s. Leslie wrote it up for the Huffington Post with scant details of the program.
I had known Leslie for years, and she told me this looked like a story for The Times. I agreed. Leslie and I met with Mr. Elizondo in Philadelphia on Oct. 31. Three days later, I emailed the executive editor, Dean Baquet, about “a sensational and highly confidential time-sensitive story” that I said “involves a senior U.S. intelligence official who abruptly quit last month” exposing “a deeply secret program, long mythologized but now confirmed.”
He alerted Mark Mazzetti, the investigations editor in the Washington bureau. Leslie and I briefed him in New York on Nov. 7. We assured him there were no anonymous sources; everyone was on the record. After discussions in Washington and New York, Helene joined our team. The Washington bureau chief, Elisabeth Bumiller, would be our editor. On Nov. 17, we three met Mr. Elizondo in a nondescript Washington hotel where he sat with his back to the wall, keeping an eye on the door.
Carl Hulse, The Times’s chief Washington correspondent, was well acquainted with Mr. Reid and helped arrange an interview for Helene. She flew to Las Vegas on Dec. 5 and met with the former senator, who confirmed the program with details, saying, “I’m not embarrassed or ashamed or sorry I got this going.”
Leslie interviewed the aerospace magnate Robert Bigelow, who also confirmed his participation, saying Americans were being held back from serious research into U.F.O.’s by “a juvenile taboo.” And I interviewed a prominent skeptic for perspective.
It was important that we not take anything on faith. This field attracts zealots as well as debunkers, and many Americans remain deeply skeptical that the phenomenon exists as popularly portrayed. In draft after draft, we took pains to let the investigation speak for itself, without bias.
Helene met with a Pentagon spokesperson on Dec. 8 for a response to the information we had gathered. The answer came swiftly. There had been a program to investigate U.F.O.s, but it ended in 2012 after five years, the Defense Department insisted.
Our reporting suggested it continues, largely unfunded, to the present. And that’s what we wrote.

[ad_1] Robert Bigelow, the biggest individual donor supporting the presidential campaign of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), told Reuters he would not be donating any more money unless DeSantis makes a more moderate shift and attracts new major donors. Bigelow is DeSantis’s biggest donor by a longshot. The Bigelow Aerospace founder donated $20 million to the pro-DeSantis Never Back Down PAC in March. The next closest donor is venture capitalist Douglas Leone, who donated $2 million, a tenth of Bigelow’s contribution. “He does need to shift to get to moderates. He’ll lose if he doesn’t … Extremism isn’t going to get you elected,” Bigelow told Reuters on Friday. Bigelow specifically cited Florida’s six-week abortion restriction as a policy he feels is too extreme. Bigelow told Reuters he is pausing any donations to DeSantis at the moment, lamenting that his contribution is “too big a percentage.” Robert Bigelow, founder and president of Bigelow Aerospace, speaks at a news conference in Florida in 2016. (AP Photo/John Raoux, File) “Not until I see that he’s able to generate more on his own. I’m already too big a percentage,” Bigelow told Reuters. Bigelow also said, “a lot of his donors are still on the fence.” Bigelow did not provide an exact fundraising number he was looking for but said, “it’s going to be a lot.” Bigelow’s concern with DeSantis’s campaign comes as he hits a new low in polling. This week’s Morning Consult survey found that DeSantis has just 15 percent support among Republican primary voters. On the other hand, former President Donald Trump has a 43-point advantage over DeSantis, coming in at 58 percent support. Bigelow is not the only donor concerned with DeSantis’s performance in the polls and electability. Republican donor Andy Sabin “soured on DeSantis and threw his support behind Senator Tim Scott in part due to the abortion issue,” Reuters reported. As Breitbart News detailed: Republican megadonor Ken Griffin is also reconsidering his support for DeSantis after previously claiming, “our country would be well-served by him as president,” months before DeSantis launched his campaign. Griffin is one of several donors who supported DeSantis’s gubernatorial campaigns but are shying away from contributing to his presidential campaign. Former Marvel chairman Ike Perlmutter — who donated, with his wife, over $2 million to DeSantis’s gubernatorial reelection campaign — is planning to support Trump’s third White House bid with a “meaningful” contribution, CNBC reported. Billionaire Ronald Lauder, who donated more than $200,000 to DeSantis’s gubernatorial campaigns, is now considering throwing his financial support to Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), Politico reported. Ron DeSantis gestures as he speaks at the Republican Party Of Iowa’s annual Lincoln Dinner in Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday, July 28, 2023. (Rachel Mummey/Bloomberg via Getty Images) The DeSantis campaign has been shrouded in controversy recently after Florida’s new education standards that purport to teach students about the “personal benefit” enslaved Americans received under slavery. Further, the campaign made an interview video that featured a Nazi symbol. The campaign laid off 38 staffers in recent weeks as part of the “aggressive steps” to “streamline operations.” A confidential campaign memo leaked last month revealed DeSantis’s plans to focus on early primate states like Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. DeSantis campaign spokesperson Bryan Griffin told Reuters they were “grateful” to supporters and donors who gave them “the capacity to compete for the long haul,” but did not directly address Bigelow’s comments. Despite the pause on donations, Bigelow still believes DeSantis is “the best guy for the country.” Bigelow reportedly addressed his concerns with campaign manager Generra Peck, urging her that DeSantis needs to make a more moderate shift to have a chance. “There was a long period of silence where I thought maybe she had passed out,” Bigelow said of Peck’s reaction. “But I think she took it all in,” Bigelow added, calling Peck a “very good campaign manager.” Jordan Dixon-Hamilton is a reporter for Breitbart News.
