Carlisle meets Alice earlier
(or, me just rambling nonsenses)
It's 1901 and Carlisle is in Biloxi, Mississippi, making a stopover on an inn, on his journey to the south, when he gets a desperate knock on the door of his room. It was the place's owner with a desperate request. Another guest was giving birth in the room down the hall. Carlisle put down his favorite Jules Verne novel and took his briefcase, quickly following the man.
When he arrives, the woman is frightened and seems on the verge of a panic attack. Carlisle quickly calms her down, smiling kindly at her and promising that everything will be fine. "What's your name?" asks Carlisle after ordering the maids to bring clean towels, hot water, scissors, and thread. "Lillian. Lillian Brandon" "Mrs Brandon, don't be afraid. Soon it will all be over."
And indeed, the labor ends quite quickly, as if the baby were in a hurry to arrive to the world. She is a totally healthy baby girl, with strong lungs, and a head full of thick black hair. Her mother takes the baby and kisses her cheeks and, to Carlisle's surprise, then she sniffs her. "She smells really good."
And then Carlisle lets himself breath again after several hours, his throat thirsty at the scent of human blood in the air. But there is another smell too. Indeed, the baby's scent is incredibly sweet, she smells like sunshine, rainwater and fresh flowers. It's probably one of the best scents he's ever smelled in his life. Leaning down, Carlisle extends his arms to the mother. "Would you allow me to hold her for a moment, please?"
Mrs Brandon nods and Carlisle closely inspects the baby again. Her eyes are open, and the vampire can see the blue spark in her gaze. The baby smiles when her eyes find him.
"She is a beautiful girl, without a doubt." On a curious impulse, Carlisle leans down to kiss her forehead. Her smell is wonderful. Like all the good things in the world. Like the things he used to love when he was human. She smells like (love perhaps?) "Have you decided on a name yet, Mrs Brandon?"
"Mary," the womn said wearily. "She looks like a Mary."
"In that case, nice to meet you, Mary."
......
It's 1950 and Carlisle and his family are hunting in the Alabama woods, when two nomad vampires approach them.
Edward and Rosalie immediately growl at them. Emmet and Esme are alert, but immobile. The strangers are a blond male and a short female with short spiky black hair. They introduce themselves as Jasper and Alice. Alice says that she has waited a long time to meet him.
And she moves, quickly, grinning from ear to ear. She reaches him before his children or his mate can react.
And the next thing Carlisle knows, the stranger is hugging him. And everyone is looking at them without understanding in the middle of their barely contained anger. It is confusing. But Carlisle makes a signal to his family to stay calm.
"Do we know each other?" Carlisle asked.
"Not yet, but we will soon. You will be my father."
"Alice can see the future," the blond vampire said. "Alice, remember what I told you."
"Oh. Yeah, sorry, I always forget. You must be confused. But yeah, I can see the future. That's how I found you."
Carlisle breathes in and oh what is that smell? It smells like something he's smelled before, many years ago, but he can't remember where exactly. Only that the smell brings him happiness, and a warm feeling of love.
Surprising himself, he immediately hugged Alice back. "Are you sure we haven't met before?"
"Well, no, I don't have any memory of my human life," Alice said. "But I think I would remember you if I had met you before."
