Spoilers for Khaos Reigns and Sektor and Noob’s tower endings.

Initially, I was really annoyed with the way their tower endings seemed to shit on Liu Kang’s plan to keep Bi-Han safe while he learns the ways of Havik’s magic to restore him. But Sektor cooperating with Quan Chi (and taking Bi-Han from the Temple of the Elements) might be what introduces Sareena to the story properly, and actually results in Bi-Han being redeemed. Despite the fact that neither he nor Sektor seems to care about that anymore.

RIP Sektor if he ends up with Sareena romantically, though (restored or not) because she’s obviously in love with him. And aside from their weird forehead press moment, there is no way it’s mutual.

Don’t get me wrong, I still think Khaos Reigns was pretty terrible and maybe I’m just grasping . But I need to have hope for not just the future of the character, but the series.

EDIT: Because fuck me, I just watched a compilation of BiSektor intros and I guess it is mutual. I am trying to make peace with the ship, and will. But ngl, initial reaction was not good. 🫠

Something I like about Sekhan is the fact that Sektor could betray him at any time, since Bi Han has his absolute trust in her hands, and Sektor has the intellect and ability to manipulate others like when she manipulated Cyrax. If she wanted, she could have betrayed Bi Han. She could have let him die and taken the role as a Lin Kuei master, she could have taken advantage of Liu Kang when he left the clan at her disposal and turned her back on Bi Han, what's more, with the amulet she wouldn't even need it to get rid of the Shirai Ryu, being a one-person leader....

But no, Sektor preferred to rescue him, she could have turned her back on him like everyone else, but no. I like it because it proves that the character is not someone who has no love and loyalty towards others, because they could have resorted to making her the "treacherous bitch who doesn't care about anyone", and I'm glad they didn't do that again with him/her.

I think that decision is better, because it breaks with the expectations of what one would expect from Sektor, showing that she is loyal, that she can also defend and care for others while breaking with her egocentrism, that makes her different from the OG Sektor.

....Besides, it also breaks with the leaks of the game, in which it was seen that Sektor would betray him and it would be Sareena who would save him. To me it seems more interesting that it is Sektor who does it, because she is the only one who really loves him and accompanies him in everything and despite everything, neither the heroes nor the villains did that for Bi Han, therefore, who else will he give his loyalty to other than Sektor?

So, apparently BiSektor or whatever the ship name is is canon. I have mixed feelings.

It just seems so contrived, like basically all of Khaos Reigns. I can very easily see Sektor being in love with Bi-Han. I have a much, much harder time accepting it as mutual.

I am really trying to sell myself on it. I respect that Sektor is very clearly Bi-Han’s ride or die. But I dislike that like so many stories, this treats anything other than a romantic relationship as less than, inferior. Maybe it’s my oversensitive ace ass but I hate seeing the implied bumping of uglies as what elevates a relationship, especially one between a man and woman, and makes it valid.

Platonic bonds are valid and matter.

It's even weirder because I cannot be the only one who imagined chemistry between Sektor and Khameleon.

Also, I know, new timeline, things are different (yet seem to be driven toward an almost identical ending... WEIRD). But this furthers that the genderswap was done for really shallow purposes. A: because this wave of DLC and guest characters would've all been men without it, and B: that the only reason Sektor is considered a viable love interest for Bi-Han, and Cyrax an implied ex of Kuai Liang, is that they're women now.
