Vote Machines In UP, Maharashtra Hit By Heat Wave, Says Poll Commission
As complaints about malfunctioning voting machines flowed in from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh during the by-elections today, the Election Commission said the "severe heat conditions" were interfering with the machines. Kairana in Uttar Pradesh, where Ajit Singh's RLD has already lodged a complaint, is one of the most-watched by-polls of the 14 elections that are being held across 10 states. The parliamentary constituency is seen as a test case of opposition unity. At booths where polling was disrupted for more than two hours due to malfunctioning VVPATs, the election commission could consider re-polling after going through the reports of district election officers, said UP's chief electoral officer. Bypolls in Maharashtra's Palghar and Bhandara-Gondiya parliamentary constituencies are witnessing key contests where the BJP is fighting to come back. The counting of votes is on Thursday.

Congress was in mourning after Balakot air strike: Shah
Nagpur, BJP president Amit Shah Tuesday targeted the Congress, indicating when the entire country was rejoicing more than the air strikes on a terror camp in Balakot, there was mourning only in Pakistan and the Rahul Gandhi-led bash.
Addressing a rally in this article, he explained the Modi government’s most important results was that it experienced built India secure which was not the case when the Congress-led UPA was in ability.
“During the UPA rule, there would be no reaction to terror attacks. Just after the Pulwama terror assault, there was anger and despondency all about.
“But, the current governing administration is not that of `mauni baba’ (silent PM) Manmohan Singh. On the 13th working day of the Pulwama attack, the IAF (Indian Air Drive) went deep inside Pakistan and wrecked terror camps,” Shah reported.
“When the country was rejoicing (more than the air strikes), there was mourning only in Pakistan and Rahul Gandhi-led Congress. When 40 jawans are martyred, should we not bomb the perpetrators of the Pulwama attack,” he asked.
Hitting out at the Congress president, he mentioned, “Rahul baba .. you can do ILU ILU with terrorists, but we will give “eent ka jawab patthar se” (a resolute and befitting reply).”
Shah also accused the Congress of maligning Hindus by coining phrases like “Hindu terror and saffron terror”.
Shah was campaigning for Union minister and BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, who is pitted from Nana Patole of the Congress in the Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency, which goes to the polls on April 11.
Shah reported the Congress did not come across a nominee in opposition to Gadkari and for this reason it experienced to “import” its prospect from exterior.
Patole had gained the 2014 Lok Sabha election on a BJP ticket from the Bhandara-Gondiya seat in Vidarbha. He give up the the BJP in 2017 and later on joined the Congress.
Patole was previously an MLA of the Congress.
For the duration of his speech, Shah also shown the guarantees created in the BJP manifesto for farmers and traders, among the other sections of the modern society.
Nagpur is amid the seven Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra that will vote on April 11. Tuesday was the past day of campaigning in these parliamentary seats.   PTI

Coming out in support of the ongoing protest by dairy farmers in Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena today sought to know why the government cannot hike the milk procurement prices when it can spend crores on big-ticket projects like the bullet train.Farmers’ organisations in the state have launched a protest to demand a hike of Rs 5 per litre in milk procurement prices. As part of the protest, which began early Monday, milk tankers are being blocked in several districts of Maharashtra by protesters.”This agitation cannot be ignored just because it was launched by (farmer leader) Raju Shetti. Farmers neither belong to any particular religion or caste, nor any political party. Over 3,000 farmers have ended their lives in the last four years and majority of them had voted for (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi,” the Sena said.”Last year’s strike by farmers to press for their demands was a disgrace for the government. Now, instead of suppressing the ongoing agitation of dairy farmers, the state should think about how it can provide relief to them,” the party said in an editorial in its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’.The Uddhav Thackeray-led party alleged that on the one hand, the government will try to break the agitation, while on the other it would chant the slogans of ‘Jai Kisan’.While the government has fixed Rs 27 per litre as the procurement price of milk, currently it is being procured only at Rs 16-18, the party said.”The Goa and Karnataka governments give Rs 5 per litre subsidy to milk farmers. So what is wrong if the farmers in Maharashtra also seek a similar relief? The government is spending thousands of crores on bullet train, Samruddhi Corridor and Metro rail projects.”It is even taking a loan for the bullet train, but not willing to increase the procurement price by Rs 5. PM Modi announced a hike in MSP for agricultural goods, but Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should clarify whether the farmers in Maharashtra will also get that benefit or not,” it added. The farmers, who once voted Modi to power, have now became disillusioned and distressed, it said adding, “In the recent Bhandara-Gondiya Lok Sabha bypoll, the BJP was defeated by the farmers and the party’s win in Palghar bypoll is meaningless.”   The Rediff.com : 17th. In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, people are going to vote for Narendra Modi again, says Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis
Fadnavis is currently visiting the US following a trip to Canada.
Fadnavis is currently visiting the US following a trip to Canada.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be voted back to power in the 2019 general elections, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said emphasising that the Indian leader is addressing basic problems of the common man through flagship schemes of constructing toilets, providing bank accounts and gas connections. Fadnavis is currently visiting the US following a trip to Canada. After meeting investors and CEOs and attending a community reception in the city, he will visit Washington and San Francisco.
“In 2019, people are going to vote Narendra Modi again because what India could not achieve in 67 years, we have achieved a lot in the last four years,” Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told PTI in an interview here yesterday. “I won’t say that nothing happened in 67 years but the path on which the country has begun its journey now, is something which was never thought of,” he said. Fadnavis said at a time when India is the fastest growing economy in the world, is developing infrastructure and technology, Modi is simultaneously “addressing the problems of a common man.”
“We may talk about missions to the moon but even today 50% of the population does not have toilets. Look at that disparity. That disparity is being addressed by Modi,” he said. “Unless we address this disparity, it will result in a very divided society.” According to official data, Maharashtra has constructed the maximum number of individual household toilets under the Centre’s flagship Swachh Bharat Missionscheme, followed by Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Till November last year, as many as 42.72 lakh household toilets have been constructed against the target of 66.42 lakh.
Fadnavis said citizens of the country are now getting basic requirements like gas connections and bank accounts. “From providing gas connections to electricity connections, every single step is changing the country and that is why I am very sure that people will vote for Narendra Modi” again in 2019. Asked about the electoral losses suffered by the BJP in the recently held by-elections in Kairana and Noorpur seats in Uttar Pradesh and Bhandara-Gondiya Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra as the country gets ready for the 2019 general elections, Fadnavis said by-elections “cannot be a yardstick since in the by-elections the voting is low.”
On the threat letters allegedly by Maoists containing a plot to target Modi, Fadnavis said the letter have been recovered from a hard disk and there is other “corroborating evidence” that an assassination attempt was being planned against Modi. NCP chief Sharad Pawar had said the BJP was playing a “threat letter card” to gain sympathy. Fadnavis reiterated that it was “very unfortunate” when senior leaders like Pawar make such comments. “With all the damaging evidence, if somebody says that it is a letter to get sympathy, I don’t expect that from such a person,” he said.

New Post has been published on http://www.visionmp.com/hours-amit-shah-comes-calling-shiv-sena-mocks-bjp-chiefs-sampark-samarthan/
Hours Before Amit Shah Comes Calling, Shiv Sena Mocks BJP Chief’s ‘Sampark for Samarthan’
Mumbai: Hours before a crucial meeting between the leaders of the bickering allies, the Shiv Sena mocked BJP chief Amit Shah’s ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ drive, hinting at plans to go solo in the 2019 Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly elections.
In an editorial published in party mouthpiece Saamana, the Shiv Sena said the general elections next year could be one of the “motives” behind Shah’s outreach programme. “The Narendra Modi government has lost its touch with those on its side and it is ideal for it to look for the reasons behind it,” the editorial said.
It also mocked the BJP’s “reliance on poster boys” to win elections, asking if the BJP chief would meet former ally and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu as part of his ‘Sampark for Samarthan’.
“Despite saam, daam, dand, bhed, Modi and Amit Shah are dreaming of winning 350 seats in Lok Sabha on their own steam. Modi and Shah are implementing an outreach and communication program at the international and national level. Their skills are highly appreciable.”
Taking on the central government over the petrol rate hike and farmers’ agitations across the country, the editorial said, “At a time when petrol prices have agitated the country and farmers are on strike, the government’s dialogue with the farmer isn’t happening.”
The editorial has been published on a day when Uddhav Thackeray and Amit Shah are scheduled to meet in Mumbai in the aftermath of the Palghar and Bhandara-Gondiya Lok Sabha by-elections, for which the allies parted ways.
The relations between the two partners plummeted to a new low when Shiv Sena ‘hijacked’ Shriniwas Vanga – the son of late BJP MP Chintaman Vanga from Palghar – and gave him the party ticket for the May 28 Palghar Lok Sabha bypolls.
A raging BJP inducted former Congressman Rajendra Gavit, who defeated Vanga.
In a guarded initial reaction, Sena MP and spokesperson Sanjay Raut pointed out how the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners were not satisfied with the BJP and leaving it one by one.
But he refused to speculate whether the Sena would reconsider its oft-repeated stance of going solo in all future elections and pointed out that the party did extremely well and showed its strength in Palghar which it contested for the first time ever.
With a year to go for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Shah has launched a new outreach programme which involves meetings and photo opportunities with eminent personalities across different fields. The campaign, called ‘Sampark for Samarthan’, is aimed at urging the eminent personalities to campaign for the BJP ahead of the elections and talk about the government’s good work.
So far, Shah has met former army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, former cricket captain Kapil Dev, yoga guru Ramdev and former Chief Justice of India RC Lohati. On Wednesday, he is also scheduled to meet actor Madhuri Dixit, industrialist Ratan Tata and singer Lata Mangeshkar.

Rahul Gandhi stresses the need for a united opposition for 2019 elections
Tumblr media
Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said there were "valuable lessons" to be learnt from the results of the bypolls across the country, in a reference to the need for a united opposition for the 2019 general elections.
"Congratulations to all the winners in the by polls, across India. Valuable lessons to be learnt from the victories and defeats for all parties," tweeted Gandhi.
"I want to thank all the workers and leaders of the Congress party for their hard work and dedication in these elections. God bless you all," he added.
A united opposition got a major boost on Thursday when it delivered a huge blow to the BJP, defeating it in the Kairana Lok Sabha by-election in Uttar Pradesh and Bhandara-Gondiya in Maharashtra while the saffron party managed to retain the Palghar parliamentary seat and win only one out of the 10 Assembly bypolls in 10 states.
