shuri has eyes that you could melt into. golden, sweet, like honey underneath the hedge of her lashes, that curl just right. when she smiles at you, they crinkle with affection, and this is when you like them best. for love, is not something you can fabricate. you know she is yours because her eyes glow with kindness, and it makes your knees weak.
in the sunset, they twinkle. you run your thumbs underneath them— you are in her lap, your back to the view, but you think you don’t mind with her looking at you like you are something special. there are butterflies fluttering with great anticipation against your ribcage. you can’t help but melt for her, “you have the prettiest eyes.”
you think shuri might be looking at your heart, because the expression she wears is so impossibly endeared it feels surreal. she drags her fingers behind your ears and tucks your hair back into place. a small act of intimacy that sends lightening down your spine.
she often has that effect.
“you have the prettiest everything,” she says, and you know she means it. she presses her mouth against your forehead.
it’s the end of summer. in wakanda, the sky is pink like magic, like daydreams, like silk across the mountains. you wonder if it tastes sweet as it looks. time flutters slow around your shoulders. you long to tie it around you like ribbon, keep this moment kind and new.
“you always have to one up me,” you sigh, but your voice is berriboned with a fondness you cannot hide. shuri laughs, and grazes your nose with hers. you wish you could stay like this forever. “you’re so awful. i want to break up.”
her hand slides up the small of your back, and you feel delighted at her touch. it’s these quiet times you savour the most. loving in the light of the sun. “no you don’t,” and her tone is smug, because she holds your heart in her palm and it beats endlessly for her. “you love me.”
“i do.”
the world grows brighter. her eyes are the deepest brown. when you press your mouth to hers, you think you’ve found yourself the most perfect girl in the world.

Took my second car ride all by myself for a liquor run. I don't wanna read the damn manual to find out why my fucking dome light won't turn off, but. Tomorrow.
I finished grinding all the Water Pokémon. BERRIBON the Remoraid, SLIMESCALE the Barboach, and MAKIKHAN the Krabby are coming into the Water gym. In that order. I specifically picked Pokémon with at least one low Defense stat to give myself a challenge. BERRIBON'S moves I remember being not that great, SLIMESCALE is the slow drawn-out strat, MAKIKHAN will Metal Claw the shit out of everything if I get in trouble.
KEE'TOR the Arrokuda has way too high of a physical attack stat and "good type coverage" between its four physical moves. ZAZZLEDAZZLE the Quagmire is just OP, SWHIMPY the Wishiwashi made me remember, oh, yeah, that's the thing that kicked my ass in Sun and is now extremely OP, AQUAMARINE the Goldeen has good physical and good moves to go with it, but less coverage than KEE'TOR. Therefore she's the fourth member if I end up failing. My Shellder has Ice Shard, Whirlpool, Water Gun, and Withdraw, but with the insane physical defense and guaranteed first hit on Ice Shard... It's still a dice roll on special moves, but...
I could'a swore Waterfall was a physical move and I'm glad it's not because MAKIKHAN with that would be way OP. He currently has no STAB moves.
Poison, Ice, or Ghost types will likely be my next focus. Mabye Steel, I wish I could find low-level Steel types not only for ease of catching, but to carefully track stat changes. Still haven't gotten a Galarian Meowth. I caught a Trubbish and a Stunky, it's been forever since I had a Stunky and I really hope Trubbish is cool.
