Ernest and Esther Born: Northern California Legacy
Ernest (1898–1992) and Esther Baum Born (1902–1987) were architecture's original power couple. Before the Eameses, and way before Venturi and Scott Brown, these two San Franciscans came together to bring their sense of lightness—Ernest with his agile designs, Esther with the flash of her camera—to the Bay Area.
The Borns met at the University of California, Berkeley where both studied architecture. Although their visible legacy is a series of buildings they did in San Francisco—most notably their personal residence at 2020 Great Highway in Outer Sunset (1949) and BART’s Glen Park and Balboa Park stations (mid-1970s)—they began their career in New York City, where they took part in the flourishing downtown art scene of the 1920s and 30s. Their stay in New York was brief—they moved back to the West Coast in 1936—but its influence lingered. Ernest’s architectural designs show an understanding of space inspired by the geometry of modernist painters, and he became an accomplished painter and illustrator in his own right, contributing mural paintings for the Golden Gate International Exposition and doing graphic design for BART in the 70s. Esther worked as a photographer, eventually publishing a monograph on Mexican modernist architecture. Both championed modernism in their hometown.
Their residence in Outer Sunset best highlights Ernest’s use of natural light. Contrary to its neighborhood’s name, the house welcomes the sunrise with huge windows facing east, made more magnificent by an open floor plan that fully embraces the morning light. Using a limited design palette inspired by California’s natural wonders, most notably Douglas fir and travertine, and adding modernist touches, such as a large wall installation in the living room used for hanging art (and looking like a work of art itself), Ernest combined his bicoastal pedigree for a striking house that makes the best of both coasts.
It was Born’s attention to light that influenced Aidlin Darling’s expansion of the house in 2008. Rather than alter the original structure, AD built a three-story addition next to the original that complements the ideas behind Born’s design. The new structure rises organically from the surrounding pines, a thing of air and levity pierced by the sun during dawn and dusk: its large windows face east and west. Though it may outshine, literally, the original, the addition pays close attention to Born's choice of materials and shape. Just as the Borns advocated for a dynamic San Francisco in conversation with other great cities, so too do these two structures converse with each other, highlighting their differences while being obviously connected by a unifying aesthetic.
One can sense this aesthetic in Born's Glen Park and Balboa Park stations, which despite being in the Brutalist style, have a nimble, spacious essence . The former features glass walls and a glass ceiling that allows light to stream into the concrete structure. Its large, marbled mural in warm colors and abstract shapes shows a modern art influence.
These buildings constitute the Born's public legacy, but it is their “invisible” legacy, the series of editorial and artistic work they did in the 30s and 40s, and the one now privy only to the archivist’s eye, that most celebrate San Francisco’s distinct cultural milieu. In the April 1937 issue of the Architectural Record, where Ernest was chief art editor, he and Esther published “The New Architecture in Mexico,” which showcased the works of modernist Mexican architects like Juan O’Gorman and Luis Barragan. This was surely influenced by their friendship with Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, whom the couple met when living in New York. Esther had spent several months in Mexico photographing various modernist buildings, which she then used to introduce Mexican architecture to a broader American audience. Perhaps the Borns understood the Bay Area’s indebtedness to Mexican culture and the exchange of ideas that crossed borders. A decade later, Ernest’s exhibition Domestic Architecture of the San Francisco Bay Region cataloged the evolving design scene of his native city, and he continued to imagine a bolder, newer San Francisco in his designs—a grand design scheme for Fisherman’s Wharf, for instance—even though these were never built.
A final note about the Outer Sunset house: the original structure, viewed from the street, is an almost-windowless facade that was once dubbed the “Born Barn” for its drab, wooden features. Few would expect the light-embracing grace of its other side. Away from the public, Ernest and Esther Born cultivated a legacy that honors San Francisco, yet still shines with the city's beauty, for those who seek it out.

Becoming Robert DeNiro
We are told (more re: this comment later) that Robert Deniro is an only child, his mom is an atheist and a far left lib, his father is also a far left lib and left his wife and son for another man! His mom and dad both were "artists" and wrote "erotica" for Anaïs Nin who was a novelist who also wrote "volumes of erotica".
Tumblr media
They were part of an artistic community that was an “underground community” bursting with vitality and gossip, with its own celebrations and myths.” His parents had a “salon” on Bleecker Street and people such as “art critic Clement Greenberg, film essayist Manny Farber, and artist Margaret McKee, among others, would drop by and discuss Freud, Kierkegaard, Gertrude Stein, or Zen.” By all accounts they were a poor family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His mother, Virginia Admiral, was English/French/Dutch/German. She was born in Oregon, lived in Illinois, (NOTE: her living in Illinois is important later) and then Berkeley, CA. She was "part of an off-campus art, socialist, and literary scene." Per Geni.com she was residing in Danville, Illinois according to the census, with her parents and younger sister, Eleanor. By 1930, Virginia's parents had divorced and she was living with her mother and sister in Berkeley, California. While in Berkeley, her mother, Alice, became a school teacher. Admiral, a painter, met Robert De Niro, Sr., an aspiring artist, at one of Hans Hofmann's painting classes in Provincetown, Massachusetts, and they married in 1942. https://www.geni.com/people/Virginia-De-Niro/6000000010581882947
Tumblr media
According to Geni, com, his maternal grandfather lived in Illinois until 1930 at which point the census shows him living in Berkeley, CA. This is when his maternal grandparents divorced. His mother did not meet his father until 1942 in Massachusettes and Robert was born in 1943. His maternal grandmother, Alice Groman, shows to have died in 1962 in Indiana. His Maternal grandfather shows to have died, per the census, in 1949 in Palm Springs, CA.
https://www.geni.com/people/Donald-Admiral/6000000010581851011
Tumblr media
His mother’s aunt, Helen Admiral, was born 1881 in Danville, Illinois and died 1914 in Chicago, Illinois. His mother’s uncle, Holton Admiral, was born in Watseka, Illinois in 1882 and died in 1952-1973 and location not known. His mother’s aunt, Virginia Dady, was born in Indiana in 1886 and died in Harvey, Illinois in 1955.
Her grandfather, Nicholas Admiral, was born in 1853 in Noor-Holland, Netherlands and died 1918 in Livingston, Illinois. Her grandmother, Virginia Mosbey Admiral, was born in 1848 in Falmouth, KY and died in 1928 in Clackamas, OR. Her great grandfather, Jacob Admiral, was born in 1818 in Netherlands. Her great grandmother, Neeltje Bakker, was born 1828 in Netherlands.
Her great grandfather, Nicholas Mosbey Holten, was born in 1807 in Mason, KY and died 1887 in Danville, Illinios. Her great grandmother, Lucy Ann Dupuy, was born in 1795 unknown and died 1849 unknown.
His mother’s family is far more extensive and goes way back to 1300′s in England
Tumblr media
His mother has one sister,  Eleanor Elizabeth Admiral Haefle. She was born 1916 in Iowa, 1920 lived in Illinois, 1930 -2009 died California.
Since it is likely his parents married because of the pregnancy, they divorced when he was about 2yo and his father began a homosexual relationship with his mother's longtime, very close friend Robert Duncan. Duncan was born to a family of devout theosophists (religious movement introducing the occult to Western esotericism, based on Neoplatonism and Asian religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism.
Tumblr media
He was surrounded by the occult during his childhood. He studied at Berkeley and wrote poems based on his "left wing politics and was a friend of Deniro's mother. He was a member of the Mattachine Society which was founded by communist Harry Hay from LA. He studied "Medieval & and Renaissance literature and cultivated a reputation as a shamanistic figure in San Francisco poetry and artistic circles."
Tumblr media
"His name is prominent in the history of pre-Stonewall gay culture and in the emergence of bohemian socialist communities of the 1930s and '40s, in the Beat Generation, and also in the cultural and  political upheaval of the 1960s, influencing occult and gnostic circles of the time."
Tumblr media
Deniro’s father was an artist and was involved in abstract art. He was born in Syracuse, NY and was Italian/Irish American. His father studied with Hans Hofmann at his Provincetown, Massachusettes summer school where he was taught Abstract Expressionism and Cubist formalism. This had a strong influence on his father’s development as a mature artist.
Tumblr media
Per Geni.com, his father was born in 1922 in Syracuse, NY and died in 1993 in NY, NY due to prostate cancer. His grandfather, Henry Martin DeNiro, was born in 1897 in Ferrezzano, Molise, Italy and died in 1976 in Syracuse, NY. His grandmother, Helen M. O’Reilly-DeNiro was born in 1899 in Syracuse, NY and died in 1999 in Syracuse, NY.
Tumblr media
His uncle, John DeNiro, was born 1925 in Syracuse, NY and died 2000 in Syracuse, NY. His aunt, Joan DeNiro-Bauder, was born in 1926 in Syracuse, NY and died 2017 in Syracuse, NY. His aunt, Elizabeth DeNiro, was born in 1928 in Syracuse, NY and died 1999 in Syracuse, NY
Tumblr media
His great-grandfather, Giovanni Di Niro, was born in Italy. His great grandmother, Angiolina Mercurio, was born in Italy. His great-great-grandfather was Luigi Mercurio and was born in Italy. His great-great-grandmother was Rosanna Alaura also born in Italy. His other great-great grandfather, Carmine Di Niro, was born in Italy. His other great-great grandmother,  Francesca Di Niro (Notartomaso) was born in Italy.
Tumblr media
His great grandfather, Dennis Francis O’Reilly, was born in 1866 in Syracuse, NY and died 1952 in Syracuse, NY. His great grandmother, Mary O’Reilly, was born 1868 in NY and died in 1924 in unknown. His great-great grandfather, Edward O’Reilly, was born in Ireland. His great-great grandmother, Margaret, was born in Ireland.
So Robert DeNiro, Jr is half Italian and half Irish on his father’s side. This explains his dark hair and eyes but pale skin which lead to his mob nickname, Bobby Milk.
Tumblr media
Much of DeNiro’s life did not include his father, and while the actor paid homage to his father at his 74th birthday, it appeared to be an emotional upheaval of regret. By looking at his father’s art, one can describe it subpar at best, and likely visions derived from an LCD rendezvous. While Deniro was very wealthy, his father remained poor. The story is his father was very involved in Deniro’s life, but considering he spend most of his life in Paris makes that hardly believable. But, we’ll let Deniro have his “memories”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
His uncle, John “Jack” Deniro died in 2015 and lists Robert and his wife Grace as his nephew. There are many pictures there of the family and several I put here with Deniro: https://www.remickgendron.com/obituaries/John-De-Niro/#!/Obituary
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
His cousin, Jean DiNero was the production assistance for “Raging Bull” and several other shows: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0210585/
She lives in Manhattan, NY and married to Candace Sue Frede:
https://www.nytimes.com/2002/11/10/style/weddings-celebrations-jean-deniro-candace-frede.html
His cousin, Linda DeNiro lives in NY and is a licensed realtor in NY and FL as well as an interior designer: http://lindadeniro.com/about
Tumblr media
His cousin, Dana DeNiro-Moulton lives in NH and owns a fashion boutique: https://lunachics.com/meet-our-staff-1
Tumblr media
It appears his extended family are likely liberal but not involved in the sadistic pedophilia that Robert is dabbling in. Anyhow, back to the woman his parents wrote "erotica" for, Anaïs Nin, dropped out of high school at age 16 and became an "artist's model". She married Hugh Parker Guiller aka Ian Hugo, a filmmaker who did "experimental film" but eventually went into banking.
Tumblr media
She also hooked up with Otto Rank, a close friend of Freud x20+yrs also a psychoanalyst, and she began to practice psychoanalysis in a room next to his by having sex with her patients on her psychoanalytic couch. She is "hailed by many critics as one of the finest writers of female erotica". Anaïs Nin eventually moved to LA. She was hailed by the feminazi movement and gave many lectures.
Tumblr media
It is also said that she was bi-sexual. She had a long standing love affair with Henry Miller, an American writer who developed "a new type of semi-autobiographical novel that blended character study, social criticism, philosophical reflection, stream of consciousness, explicit language, sex, surrealist free association, and mysticism" and  was an active member of the Socialist Party of America.
Tumblr media
His book "Moloch: or, This Gentile World" is a semi-autobiographical novel originally said to be written by his wife June but it is "considered to be of interest more as a study of Miller's artistic growth than as a worthy piece of fiction". His work was very detailed descriptions of sexual encounters.
Tumblr media
He was a pedo who liked much younger girls, marrying several of them. He also lived in LA and worked with Warren Beatty and had parties at his home for the artistic elite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, we have an idea of the upbringing Robert DeNiro had with socialists, communists, abstract art, erotica, Atheism, homosexuality, bisexuality, broken home, elitist environments, and MKULTRA (keep reading). His parents were not very involved in his life so he was left unsupervised often. He spent a lot of time with the homeless street kids. Per a family friend, “he wasn’t coddled much”. (sounds like MKULTRA conditioning- lack of attention and affection)
Tumblr media
He was an introvert, very shy, and spent hours in silence. During his time alone, which was a lot, he wondered the streets of Little Italy in NY. “After school he took to wandering around the streets of Little Italy, past the sleazy bars and pool halls, and he joined a street gang on Kenmare. Gang members nicknamed him Bobby Milk, “because he was pale and strange as milk.” (Below he seems to be in a trance-like state)
Tumblr media
When he was 16, he dropped out of high school. He had taken acting classes at “Stella Adler’s scene-study class.” after performing at the age of 10 in a school play as the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz.
Tumblr media
In 1975 he explained that while his initial desire to act was for stardom, he eventually liked, “To totally submerge into another character and experience life through him without having to risk the real-life consequences—well, it’s a cheap way to do things you would never dare to do yourself.”
https://www.vanityfair.com/news/1987/10/robert-de-niro-life-story
Tumblr media
Stella Adler was born in 1901 to a Jewish family, all of whom were actors. Her mother, Sara ( Sara Heine), was a Russian-born Jewish actress. She moved to NY in 1883 with her husband, Maurice. She spoke only Russian but learned Yiddish in the theaters. She married Jacob Adler in 1891 and, “She and Adler would be among the most prominent actors in Yiddish theater in New York for the next three decades.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sara_Adler
Tumblr media
Her father, Jacob ( Feivel (Pavel) Abramovitch Adler), was born in what is now known as the Ukraine. He had very little education, spent much time on the streets with petty crime, got into boxing, starting dancing, and eventually starting acting. He was a socialist. He had an affair with  Jenny "Jennya" Kaiser and had Stella’s brother, actor Charles Adler. She is also sister of Luther Adler and cousin to Jerry Adler. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob_Pavlovich_Adler
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stella Adler started acting alongside her parents when she was 4. “The Adlers comprised the Jewish American Adler acting dynasty, which had its start in the Yiddish Theater District and was a significant part of the vibrant ethnic theatrical scene that thrived in New York from the late 19th century to the 1950s.” Much like her father, she had very little formal schooling and spent much of her time in the “theater”.
Tumblr media
I am sure you wonder why I am detailing these people. Well, it appears by the many descriptions of their “art” that this may have been the early MONARCH MKULTRA institutions where children were brought in (remember, they preyed on children from broken homes or ones who had limited parental involvement- which is the case with Deniro) and brainwashed/controlled. This makes perfect sense now that we understand the means to mass brain control is through the media/movies/music. Acting studios make a perfect front! Take a look at the diagram below:
Tumblr media
Stella joined a theater called Group Theater founded by Russian/Jewish actors/directors who had close ties to the Russian actor,  Konstantin Stanislavski, from Moscow. It isn’t far fetched to assume they had ties to communists, more about that below. This theater began as the Actors Studio, a membership only theater that eventually became the Group Theater which used the strict practices called, The Method, derived from Stanislavski. Note: “Adler made her English-language debut on Broadway in 1922 as the Butterfly in The World We Live In.” (How MONARCH of them!)
Tumblr media
The Method, diagram above, refers to a strict process in which the actor becomes the part they are playing. There were “three teachers associated with "having set the standard of its success", each emphasizing different aspects of the approach: Lee Strasberg (the psychological aspects), Stella Adler (the sociological aspects), and Sanford Meisner (the behavioral aspects).” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Method_acting
Tumblr media
This group was led by Lee Strasberg and are connected to Yale Acting School and had great influence on the Chelsea Theater Center in NY. Remember, this is during the “McCarthy” era when everyone called him a “conspiracy theorist” regarding all the communists residing in America. In the 1950′s, many of the former members were called to testify in front of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC). Several turned over on their communist leaders and connections: Elia Kazan, Clifford Odets, and Lee J. Cobb. Deniro says:
Tumblr media
How “Crime Boss” of him! No chance he’s gonna sing like a canary. One of the people who exposed the communist ties to the group, Elia Kazan, said, “he abandoned his Communist views in part because of an agenda to transform the Group Theatre into a company devoted to promoting "Marxist ideology."
Look again at the names in this pic:
Tumblr media
Lee Strasberg was born, Israel Lee Strassberg, a Polish-American. He is known in Hollywood circles as the "father of method acting in America". His third wife started the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City and in Hollywood. It continued the teaching “system”. Per Wikipedia: “The institute's primary stated goal was "to reach a larger audience of eager and emerging talent" than was served by the Actors Studio's notoriously selective admission process, and as teachers of the method began to deploy their own personal interpretations of the discipline, "to dispel growing confusion and misrepresentation of the method, preserving what had by now become fundamental discoveries in actor training."
Tumblr media
The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute has its own rigorous sets of entrance criteria required for admission into their program and “Kazan, in his autobiography, wrote, ‘He carried with him the aura of a prophet, a magician, a witch doctor, a psychoanalyst, and a feared father of a Jewish home, was the force that held the thirty-odd members of the theater together, and made them 'permanent'” The actors and directors who were programmed, trained, brainwashed, whatever you wanna call it, are now doing the selecting of subjects and programming today (Ellen Burstyn, Al Pacino, and Harvey Keitel lead this nonprofit studio dedicated to the development of actors, playwrights, and directors.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Strasberg
Tumblr media
As you can see, this is a whole other rabbit hole we need to jump down. MKULTRA is alive and well and has been working behind the guise of teaching acting. It makes sense, though, because isn’t acting a time when you become who you are told to be? Why do these actors perform their roles so well??? Because they ARE those roles! Their souls were abducted at a time they could not refuse and now they are running rampant in our society pretending to be one of us! Note the names identified above: Abromovitch and Marx.
Now that I have got your attention, get a drink...go pee...definitely pray...and give yourself some time to digest this chaotic, yet well orchestrated, evil mess before you start the next section which explains how the Mob ties into this whole shindig! Oh yes, Patriots, there is MUCH MUCH more! Muwahahahahahah!
Tumblr media
So Deniro was sucked into the MKULTRA program as a young child. He was cultivated to operate for the Kabal and to do as he is told. He has no soul, as his precious soul was abducted long ago. He is a master of acting because, like the Matrix, he gets “plugged in” and “becomes” his role. His shadow is cold and dark. But, when and where and to whom was he conceived?
He was known as a womanizer and a partier who did drugs with many of the elite he worked with. He was known to be a d!ck to people he felt were subpar actors but this is noted about him, "De Niro was too obvious with his frustration with the actress cringing at her line readings. But he treated Jodie Foster, only 13 at the time, like a queen."
Tumblr media
He spent a lot of time at the Chateau Marmont hotel where many elite stayed and partied including John Belushi and Scorsese, with cocaine their favorite drug. He is said to have had relations with @BetteMidler, Sally Kirkland, Carole Mallory, Helena Springs, and actress Barbara Carrera while he was still married to his first wife Diahnna (Toukie). It seems he attempted to land any woman who would let him...so he’s made his rounds in Hollyweird.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He has 6 children and in his old age has slowed down his partying but he has accumlated Quite a bit of wealth, even by Hollyweird standards and has acquired much real estate in NY and LA. Most importantly and equally intriguing...he is known as a frequent visitor of the Chateau Marmont Hotel in LA which is considered the Elite party spot where "anything goes" and he along with Robin Williams were there the night John Belushi "accidentally" OD'd on heroine and cocaine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember, this is the same hotel @RepAdamSchiff is "suspected" to have dressed in drag and raped the 10yo child they "accidentally" killed by overdosing him with heroin then disposed of his body...and that Anthony Bourdain was there and "suicided" himself shortly after (@Johnheretohelp). Seems DeNiro is closely linked to this hotel alon with many other actors for many years, since the 70's.
Tumblr media
His acting career started with a very close relationship with Scorsese. Deniro and Scorse grew up in Little Italy in NY together and DeNiro was part of the Kenmare gang. This is considered a "tame" gang but he did grow up in the area of NY where all the BIG crime families were. "De Niro has also been connected by some to the Gambino crime family."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
De Niro is one of the "GoodFellas" actors to hang out members of the Gambino family, "De Niro consulted with the late Gambino soldier Anthony (Fat Andy) Ruggiano for is role in "Analyze This". Ruggiano was involved in at least seven murders, including his son-in-law.
Tumblr media
Frank Sivero "posed for photos at Gambino hit man Charles Carneglia's junkyard, and actor Anthony Borgese was indicted for participating in an extortion with a Gambino soldier." DeNiro introduced to Gambino by Anthony Corozzo a Gambino associate AND mbr of Screen Actors Guild!
Tumblr media
Gambino boss, Nicholas "Little Nick" Corozzo, is brother to Anthony. Their two brothers: Joseph "Jo Jo" Corozzo a Gambino consigliere and Blaise Corozzo a Gambino soldier. The Gambino family is connected to the Screen Actors Guild! There is a long history of mobs and Hollyweird.
Tumblr media
De Niro claims he does not remember meeting Ruggiano because it was so long ago: https://www.thechicagosyndicate.com/search/label/Anthony%20Corozzo?m=0
Denior has been seen photographed with sketchy characters we know worship satan, do spirit cooking, kill and eat babies while sacrificing them to their pagan gods. The #1 witch in particular is MARIA Abromovitch. (Notice that name is bolded above), Bill Clinton, and Jay Z.

Deniro was a part of the Harvey Weinstein collapse because Harvey took "very young" girls to Deniro's restaurant Tribeca Grill and even assaulted the employees there too. Hey Bobby Milk, ur friends define you...didn't you know that???

Recently he was found attending functions with Purple Magazine (connected to Rachel Chandler) and posing with a known pedophile and sex offender, Terry Richardson.

Finally, in studying the family history, I find the DeNiro crime family in Illinois, Ohio. Remember above, his mother lived there before moving to Berkeley, California and much of her family history is in Illinois. The Wikipedia says she was born in Oregan, lived in Illinois, then moved to Berkeley. The connection of his mother to Illinoise where the DeNiro crime family lived cannot be ignored.
Tumblr media
James V. “Vince” DeNiro was a notorious Youngstown, Ohio mob associate and gambling boss. He was born 1922 and died in 1961 from a car bombing. DeNiro was considered handsome and debonair and known as one of Youngstown’s “policy Kings”. He ran the Dry Men's Social club and owned the Cicero restaurant. “DeNiro became one of the leading underworld figures in the Mahoning Valley during the 1950s and early 1960s and was heavily involved in the numbers racket.” His rival was of the Naples family, Joseph "Sandy" Naples both vying to be the “top mobster in Youngstown beginning in the early 1950s.”
He had close ties to the Cleveland crime family: Calogera Malfitano considered to be his mentor; "Cadillac Charlie" Charles Cavallaro, and "Tony Dope" Anthony Delsanter. His rival, Sandy Naples and his girlfriend was gunned down in 1960 and it was believed he was behind it. Naple’s brother, Billy Naples, was killed the following year in a car bombing. He surrendered to police but was not charged due to lack of evidence. Not sure, but he looks an awful lot like Robert “Bobby Milk” DeNiro: https://mafia.wikia.org/wiki/Vince_DeNiro
youtube
It is interesting to note, Vince’s great nephew is Vincent L. DeNiro and he is involved with special effects and stunts for movies. He has an interesting history but most notably he speaks Ukranian and does “Theatrical Armorer for Hollywood, Expert Witness - Firearms (accidents, movie industry, faulty design issues, etc.), commercial sales, military and LE contracts, and distribution. Have I “done it all” in the firearms industry? Well, just about everything!” He was also a deputy sheriff in Youngstown, OH as well he notes that he “ led the defeat of the first city “assault weapon” ban in the U.S. in 1989, which made national headlines.” https://www.linkedin.com/in/vincent-l-deniro-501311b
Tumblr media
His brother, Louis DeNiro, was noted in his obituary to have been a member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown:
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/148374810/louis-r-deniro
The Ukraine connection is because he is married to Katherine Danylyk which is a Ukrainian last name and her uncle died in Texas: https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/houstonchronicle/obituary.aspx?n=michael-danylyk&pid=159897791&fhid=10889
Tumblr media
His brother is William DeNiro, also deceased and is noted to have a grandson named “Robert”, maybe just a coincedence, but there is a striking resemblance of DeNiro, his dad, and his uncle to this family in Illinois:

Continued digging needed to see if a connection can be made! Stand by for updates.

A Canticle of Pan
In celebration of World Pride, June Object of the Day posts highlight LGBTQ+ designers and designs in the collection.
In a 1916 profile published in Vanity Fair, Paul Thévenaz was described as a painter and a dancer. The article also identified the Swiss-born double threat as the cult leader of a movement called Rhythmician, an ensemble of artists interested in the intersection of art and dance: “The Rhythmicians believe that there is a necessary relation between music, or rather dance music, and sculpture and painting, and that all are very necessary to each other.”[1] While Rhythmician may not have slid into the vocabulary of art and design history textbooks alongside terms like fauvism, modernism, cubism, or art deco, it possesses many of the characteristics that define those styles. Aggressive color palettes, refined but expressive shapes, multi-faceted realities, dynamic compositions—many of these are embodied in this drawing of a faun relaxing in a verdant patch of grass. In his artistic practice, Thévenaz produced dynamic portraits as well as fantastical murals for interiors. Many radiate a rhythmic, dancelike levity that demonstrate Thévenaz’s preoccupation with art and movement.
Through his work, Thévenaz proposed a blissfully unprejudiced utopia, collapsing time and space: “Anachronism and exotism [sic] ought to be conquered; then there would be no more anachronisms and exotisms, because by destroying time and space in reality, we should arrive at such a practical and simple way of dealing with all the works of the dead and the foreign that there would not be any more uneasiness or self-consciousness.”[2] In this vein of condensing references, much of his work explores mythology as well as global cultures in stylized, unifying ways.
In this drawing, there is perhaps a strong sexual energy apparent, but mannerist expressions of sexuality are continual subjects in his work, particularly in his treatments of mythological figures. And the half-man-half-goat god Pan is typically associated with virility and youth. The drawing may have been inspired by poet Witter Bynner’s 1920 book of poems A Canticle of Pan, as the drawing dates to around the year of publication, and the two men were then in a long-distance relationship; Bynner was in California teaching at the University of California, Berkeley and Thévenaz working in New York as an artist.[3] The opening verses of the Canticle state: “Where a golden youth was singing, holding high his lyre.”[4] Rather than a lyre, the drawing depicts a pan flute, a typical attribute of Pan, and an object that provides more coverage.
Thévenaz died young, at the age of thirty. Shortly after his death, heiress Alice De Lamar published a catalogue of his work, containing dozens of portraits, murals, and sketches, and including an essay by Thévenaz from which much of his artistic perspective can be gleaned (the catalogue is available in full on archive.org). Like much of history, the catalogue does not mention Rhythmician (or cults), but it does burst with vibrancy, optimism, and harmony.

"Seascape" Oil On Canvas 1950's By California Artist, Lucille Kent. An accomplished California artist and a master at capturing the mood of the sea with her impasto technique, laying on thick layers with visible brush and painting- knife strokes as the sea almost comes off of the canvas; excellent condition; minor wear to frame; with old gallery label on the reverse; Kent once said "I feel I know the sea in most of its moods, but it will take years to get it all on canvas."height: 29" width: 34 1/4" Lucille Kent, wife of noted restaurateur Frank Skipper Kent, was an accomplished California painter, well known on the west coast and in Hawaii. Her studies took her from San Francisco and Berkeley as far afield as Chicago, the Instituto at San Miguel Allende and the Bellas Artes in Taxco Mexico. Kent studied under such noted artists as Thomas Leighton, Arthur Palmer, Peter Blos, Marques Reitzel, Joseph Bennet, Senor Pinto, Don James Oats and Senor Fidel Figueroa. Her great love was the sea. She was a veteran of thirty years and thousands of miles of ocean racing and cruising. After one ocean voyage of over 9000 miles she stated “I feel I know the sea in most of its moods, but it will take years to get it all on canvas.” Even a casual study of her seascapes shows that she mastered the moods of the sea as few other artists have. Kent’s use of the impasto technique, laying on thick layers with visible brush and painting-knife strokes, makes the sea appear comes off of the canvas towards the viewer. shortlink: https://www.epocasf.com/node/11481/ .. . . . . . . . #californiaartist #californiaartists #impasto #impastopainting #contemporaryart #contemporaryartist #artoftheday #contemporarypainting #impasto #texture #midcentury #interiordesign #SF #sanfrancisco #homedecor #instainteriors #epocasf #epoca #homedecor #designanddecoration #20thcentury #interiors #lucillekent #seascape #sailing #seascapes #seascapepainting #seascape_lovers #oiloncanvas #californiaart (at Epoca) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu64JS8FKqD/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=u4ky6oorel9q

Designer Profile: Independent art consultant Karen Eichler
Independent art consultant Karen Eichler doesn’t see herself as a conductor or quarterback—more a matchmaker between artists and clients.
“I work with clients who are interested in ideas such as environmental causes or humanitarian aid, and I’ll connect them with artists who share their vision,” said Eichler, who has curated collections in West Oakland’s People’s Community Market, Berkeley’s 1950 Addison St. and Glashaus in Emeryville. She’s also working on installations for Oakland’s MOXY Hotel, Stations@12th, The Enclave (graduate student housing in Berkeley), Legacy at Livermore and One Piedmont in Oakland.
Eichler, no relation to Joseph Eichler, the iconic architect who helped define the “California Modern” style, has worked as an independent art consultant for over 15 years, acting as a consultant to real estate developers, interior designers and architects while sourcing fine art and photography for private collectors.
Her vast rolodex includes metalworkers, painters, fabricators, sculptors and textile artisans from around the Bay Area, and she cherishes the opportunity to introduce artists to collectors.
“Artists love to experiment with ideas,” she said. “And I love trying to understand what artists are saying with their work. Good artists are like great writers to me. I enjoy making the perfect match between an artist’s work and connecting them with other people.”
A prime example of this exists at 1950 Addison St. in Berkeley, where Eichler collaborated with the city’s Public Art on Private Development Program to use work from Bay Area artist Susan O’Malley’s book “Advice from my 80-Year-Old Self: Real Words of Wisdom from People Ages 7 to 88.”
Eichler took quotes from O’Malley’s book and turned them into inspirational messages atop Berkeley’s Veteran’s...

Gasser-Style 1967 Pontiac GTO Returns to its Day Two Attitude—and Altitude
It was the summer of 1967. Fourteen-year-old Larry Porteous and his twin brother, Lee, along with the rest of their family, were towing the family boat from their home in Berkeley to Lake Berryessa in Northern California. Then he saw it roar by them on the highway: a Tyrol Blue 1967 GTO. It was raised up gasser-style, looking mean and ready to rumble. He decided then and there that he had to have a GTO like that one.
Larry’s fascination with Pontiac GTOs did not go unnoticed by his dad. Larry and Lee were always talking about GTOs and constantly playing his 45-rpm record of Ronnie & the Daytonas’ “Little GTO.” One day their dad came home with a GTO’s Unlimited patch, which Larry sewed on the back of his Levi’s denim jacket. By now it was October 1969, just before his 16th birthday. He had the patch; now he and his twin brother resolved to get a real GTO.
At a teenager, Larry Porteous and his twin brother, Lee, spotted this gasser-style GTO while on a family vacation. Two years later they would buy the very same car. Larry drove it daily for years (minus the jacked up suspension) and then decided to return it to its day-two look on the eve of his 50th anniversary of ownership.
“1967 GTO, 4-speed, 8-track stereo, 17,000 miles, and many extras” is what the ad read in the Sunday San Francisco Chronicle classified Hot Rods For Sale section. “It was November 9, 1969,” remembers Larry. “My brother, my father, and I decided to take a look at the car in the ad. When we got there we were blown away! It was loaded with speed equipment!” Incredibly, it was the exact same car they had seen two summers before on the way to Lake Berryessa.
Tom Masini, the man selling the car, purchased the GTO new, optioning it with a four-speed, a console, reverb speakers, and the Rally gauge package, but without power steering or brakes. A regular customer of Al Arata from Arata Pontiac in South San Francisco, he had first bought a new red 1965 GTO with Tri-power, then the blue 1967 GTO. Masini got the itch for another new GTO, ordering a 1970 Pepper Green Judge with Ram Air IV. Arata offered Masini $2,100 trade-in value on his blue GTO. While waiting for the new car to be built and delivered, he thought he would try to get a little more money for it through a newspaper ad. He said he would sell it to the brothers for $2,200, a hundred bucks more than Arata would pay for it.
Here’s how Larry and the GTO looked back in the day. Other than a repaint and some interior work, it remains as it was in the 1960s.
The two brothers first had to figure out how to talk their father into buying it, and second, how to come up with some money. Larry and his brother prepared a detailed list of the speed equipment on the car, complete with the retail cost of each of those parts. They then pointed out to their father that the GTO had $1,200 worth of aftermarket speed equipment on it, making the sale price of $2,200 a really good deal.
As to paying for the GTO, Larry says, “My brother and I had been saving everything we could. We gathered up all our paper route money. Plus, I sold my trumpet and my bicycle. Together we came up with $600. Our mother took out a loan for $1,600 through her teacher’s credit union for the rest of the money. Dad thought it would be a fun car for the twins to share.”
Larry had put all the old suspension parts in storage, but reinstalling them “proved a more difficult task than I first imagined,” he said. “It was critical for the rearend setup to be precise with the welded traction bars, Panhard bar, and lift tubes under the coil springs to raise the rearend and maintain correct driveline angles. The first shop to help with this got it wrong, but I was able to have a second shop get it right. The raised gasser look isn’t something that’s done much these days. Not a lot of people know how to do that kind of work now. I know a raised car fights gravity in many ways, but nothing is cooler than a 1960s day-two street machine!”
The GTO’s gasser-style look had been done by Al’s Automotive across the bay in South San Francisco. Al’s lifted the rear and installed a set of massive traction bars, as well as a Panhard bar for stability. The front spindles were cut and reverse-welded to achieve the look of a straight-axle car, but with better drivability and giving it a level stance. Goodyear Blue Streak tires, thin in the front with super-wide cheater slicks in the back, were mounted on a set of 15-inch American Racing wheels.
Legendary Bay Area drag racing specialist Gotelli’s Speed Shop in South San Francisco warmed up the engine with a hot Isky cam, a Mallory dual-point ignition system, and an Edelbrock dual-quad intake topped with a pair of Carter AFB carbs. Other mods included a Hayes 3,200-pound three-finger clutch and an exhaust system with cutouts.
Tom Masini, the GTO’s original owner, had the legendary Gotelli’s Speed Shop in South San Francisco build up the GTO’s 400-inch V-8. Back in the day, Larry chained the hood closed to make sure thieves couldn’t get at it.
Upgraded interior items included a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, Stewart-Warner Motor Minder vacuum and temperature gauges, and an eight-track stereo tape player with Motorola Vibrasonic reverb and four speakers.
The brothers started having fun with the GTO as soon as they got it home, but the fun almost came to an abrupt end just a month later. Larry explains, “We were on our way to pick up my older brother at the San Francisco Airport. Just as we were merging onto Highway 80 near Berkeley, we hit a puddle. The 12-inch Goodyear cheater slicks hydroplaned, sending us into a violent spin in the middle of the four-lane highway. We finally came to a stop stalled perpendicular to traffic, pointing us towards the San Francisco Bay. I hit the key and it fired back up, and we continued to the airport. That was nearly the end of the car and me! I can’t believe we didn’t hit anyone, but the roads weren’t as crowded back then as they are now.”
Among the speed parts Gotelli’s put on the Pontiac mill was an Edelbrock dual-quad intake mounting two Carter AFBs and a Mallory dual-point ignition. An Isky cam keeps things lively.
Asked if he did much street racing, Larry replied, “I raced it just a few times, and I always won. I think most guys took one look at the car and how it was set up and didn’t even try to go up against it. It looked pretty intimidating! One guy threatened to steal the engine, so I got a chain and padlocked the hood. I also installed a hidden kill switch. That was the best thing I ever did. They tried to steal the car five times, but they could never find the kill switch.” The car never did get stolen, but Larry did lose three eight-track and two cassette stereos in the attempts.
A year later (and before the next California rainy season), all the race suspension and the huge Blue Streaks were removed and put into storage, returning the car to stock height. Although the GTO took on a slightly different personality with the stock suspension, the American Racing wheels were retained. Larry and his brother had some really good times with the GTO, driving it daily throughout high school and helping Larry get the prettiest girl at school. It also served as a tow vehicle from time to time for the family boat (a 1966 18-foot flat-bottom V-drive Hallet Hot Boat with a 392 Hemi that the family still owns). When the oil embargo hit in 1973, Larry’s brother began to worry about fuel costs and wanted to sell the car. Larry still loved the GTO and bought out his brother.
Other than new front-seat upholstery, the GTO’s interior is exactly as it was when Larry drove the car daily.
Now with full ownership, Larry used the car every day. He drove it while in college and through dental school. He drove it to Los Angeles and commuted in it to his hospital residency program. He continued to use it daily back in the San Francisco Bay Area after he started his own dental practice. From 1969 to 1992, Larry racked up around 200,000 miles on his beloved GTO.
In 1995, he decided to repaint the car after what he said was “much mental anguish over the pros and cons of disturbing the original patina.” Preservation of as much of the car as possible was the goal. Not happy with what PPG offered as Pontiac Tyrol Blue, he enlisted the services of master painter Bill Grey of Citrus Heights, California, to get the color right. Larry explains, “We were able to come up with a custom mixed Sikkens paint that was a fantastic match to the original. The underside of the trunk lid and the doorjambs still wear their original and non-faded paint that matches the new paint job.”
Thieves stole a total of five tape decks out of the GTO over the years, but it still has its Motorola Vibrasonic reverb.
Larry debuted the freshly painted GTO in 1996 at the Goodguys car show in Pleasanton, California. His son Lance, then 7 years of age, helped polish the American Racing wheels. The Blue Streak cheater slicks were remounted once again after being in storage since 1970. The car was a crowd favorite that day, and the local newspaper featured the GTO with a photo of Lance with the car.
Lance, now 30 and inspired by vintage photos of his dad’s GTO, had been urging his dad to return the car to the gasser-style suspension it had in 1969. Since all the original performance suspension parts have been saved, and with the 50th anniversary of ownership approaching, it was refitted with the old suspension. In the spring of 2018 it was sitting high again, just as it was back in the late 1960s when Larry first saw it thundering down the highway as a kid.
The Blue Streaks went into storage in 1970 when Larry removed the lifted suspension (after a scary freeway spinout). They rejoined the GTO when it was raised again.

Just before Larry turned 16, his father gave him this GTO’s Unlimited patch, which he promptly sewed on his denim jacket. Given the careful way he’s kept the GTO over the years, it’s no surprise that he still has the jacket, too.

Life is frantic and often we come to feel we have to carve out time to replicate and experience gratitude. We do yoga, do a tiny meditation, splurge on retreats and e book expensive spa therapies. These can all be amazing methods to exercise self-treatment, but if we want to sustain and mature happiness in our everyday lives, we ought to integrate gratitude into each and every attainable second.
Above time, we will not even have to imagine about it, and we’ll see the results in our frame of thoughts — and perhaps in our brains.
Science demonstrates we can prepare ourselves to experience thankfulness much more frequently simply just by spending notice to our life in a different way.
“People who deliberately cultivate gratitude show greater neural sensitivity in the medial prefrontal cortex, a mind area associated with mastering, rational wondering and selection making,” states Ellie Cobb, PhD, a holistic psychologist and the director of psychology for Grateful, a social company and life style brand name targeted on gratitude. “Science demonstrates we can educate ourselves to practical experience thankfulness more often just by paying out interest to our life otherwise. Interest is like a spotlight in the mind, as whatever we regularly deliver interest to will become much better and brighter around time.”
Marinelle Reynolds, a accredited medical social employee, points to a review by Higher Great at UC Berkeley, discovering that participants who practiced gratitude have been happier and considerably less frustrated. “They even discovered that training gratitude can make long lasting adjustments in our brains. Practising gratitude is a skill, you will not have to be born ‘optimistic’ or have a existence which is been absolutely free from challenges to be ready to use it. Minimal everyday routines can be helpful at coaching your brain to see the environment via with a grateful coronary heart.”
Here’s a day-to-day routine that does just that:
When you initial wake up
Gretchen Rubin, a happiness specialist and the writer of several publications, including “The Happiness Project” and host of the podcast “Happier with Gretchen Rubin”, finds that it assists to set reminders or prompts close to gratitude.
This can be as simple as “setting the screensaver or passcode on your mobile phone to be a reminder of gratitude,” she says. Possibly your password is your child’s birthday, and/or the background picture on your cellphone is a picture of you and your mom. You can change these up to keep refreshing the factors you are grateful for.
When you leave the home
Gratitude prompts are also handy when you are in a hurry in the morning. You can opt for nearly everything that you see or go day-to-day to be your sign for joy.
“When you’re acquiring in your automobile or opening the garage door, use that as a catalyst to consider about how content you are to be heading out in the earth,” states Rubin, incorporating that these same recurring activities or landmarks can inspire a minute of appreciation when you’re returning residence, way too. “Have a unique threshold that you cross that reminds you of your gratitude.”
If you aren’t joyful about say, likely to perform, then just “be grateful to be alive,” states Rubin, including, “You can think about the earlier. What would my university-self assume if I ended up to know wherever I am now? Look at all I’ve managed to do.”
When you sit down for a meal
Conscious having is a wonderful way to follow gratitude, but you can consider it a step even more by pursuing the guidance of Kristin Koskinen, a registered dietitian nutritionist, who endorses maintaining a picture foods journal, a system she employs with her shoppers.
“Like quite a few People in america, [my clients] are in the enviable placement to choose what they try to eat. Even if they really don’t like their choices, they can be grateful for the meals that nourished their bodies and that — fantastic, lousy or indifferent — they were equipped to make that option,” says Koskinen. “For people who do keep a food items journal, consider making use of it as a put to observe points of gratitude all through the working day. Who isn’t grateful for a cup of coffee in the morning? You could not like that you ate a piece of birthday cake at a party, but you can savor the blessing of staying with pals and family members.”
Rubin notes that the standard spiritual gesture of stating grace ahead of a meal is a person of the oldest kinds of every day gratitude — and you never have to be spiritual to follow it.
“At supper, your spouse and children can go around the desk and say a handful of things that they are grateful for,” says Rubin. “It’s a deliberate follow that cultivates gratitude. It might not get the job done for each individual family, but it could for yours.”
At the gymnasium, do a gratitude physique scan
It can be hard to be thoughtfully engaged when you are performing a difficult fitness program. So just take a instant as you are gearing up for a exercise to recognize your fortune to be ready to exercise session in the initial area with a psychological overall body scan.
“A simple, rapid and helpful way to hook up with yourself and faucet into your interior power is a body scan,” states Laura Federico, a licensed clinical psychotherapist specializing in assisting females understand their dreams. “Start at your toes and get the job done your way up, paying interest to and acknowledging each and every section of your body. To convert this into a moment of gratitude, thank just about every portion of your physique as you function your way up.”
Eliza Savage, a registered dietitian, requires a few minutes prior to her early morning operate to replicate by her most loved fountain in Central Park. “I obtain that I am thankful most times for the blessing of becoming ready to be healthy and energetic. I’m normally super grateful as well to be in a position to run in Central Park, which is this kind of a calming natural environment as opposed to the frenetic streets of NYC.”
Notice that you do not have to be capable-bodied to give thanks to your system. Mouth-painter, producer and app developer Peter Soby, who is quadriplegic, can take moments to be grateful all through the working day for what his human body can do.
Interactions with strangers
“Many individuals have a inclination to apologize for their mere existence in this globe,” notes Chelsea Leigh Trescott, a accredited lifestyle mentor and the host of the podcast “Thank You Heartbreak”.
Fairly than apologize and carry the focus towards you, position the attention on the individual extending by themselves and say ‘thank you’.
“If an individual opens the doorway for them on their way into a espresso shop, there’s this all-natural reflex to say sorry and glance down at the flooring. Rather, include gratitude into these little and day-to-day interactions,” she says. “Rather than apologize and bring the attention toward on your own, position the awareness on the individual extending them selves and say ‘thank you’. Not only will this make you truly feel superior, it will make the individual in entrance of you really feel good about what they’ve completed and they’ll probably be encouraged to carry on it.”
When you get dwelling from work
Many lifestyle coaches and therapists suggest creating in a gratitude journal at the end of the working day. This is a wonderful exercise for people who take naturally to it, but neither Rubin nor myself (for example), appreciate gratitude journaling. We equally come across it, to use her text, “very irritating.”
If it’s not for you, then do a thing else. Functions of gratitude really should be honest and straightforward.
Rubin endorses once more marking a threshold that prompts appreciation these types of as the final end sign prior to you get household or wiping your feet on the welcome mat everything that alerts gratitude for obtaining a property to return to.
Trescott implies ending your day with a “ta-da” listing, somewhat than a “to-do” checklist.
“Wrap up the working day with a new record the place you can acknowledge, and therein rejoice, each and every little and substantial undertaking that you have achieved in the course of the day. It’s a wonderful way of reminding yourself about all you did do through the day, instead of jumping ahead and considering about all there is certainly left to do.”

Lucille Kent, wife of noted restaurateur Frank Skipper Kent, was an accomplished California painter, well known on the west coast and in Hawaii. Kent’s use of the impasto technique, laying on thick layers with visible brush and painting-knife strokes, makes the sea appear comes off of the canvas towards the viewer. . . . . . . . . #californiaartist #californiaartists #impasto #impastopainting #contemporaryart #contemporaryartist #artoftheday #contemporarypainting #impasto #texture #midcentury #interiordesign #SF #sanfrancisco #homedecor #instainteriors #epocasf #epoca #homedecor #designanddecoration #20thcentury #interiors #lucillekent #seascape #sailing #seascapes #seascapepainting #seascape_lovers #oiloncanvas #californiaart (at Epoca) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu635pElD-3/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=67gg9g3yj1v3
