Lungo il sentiero costiero del Jbel Moussa, nel piccolo villaggio di Belyounech. Mi trovo a circa 70 km da Tangeri, nella riserva biologica all'estremo lembo di terra a nord del Marocco, nel punto più attiguo alla costa europea e al confine con Ceuta, exclave spagnola in Africa; talmente vicino da ricevere per poche centinaia di metri il messaggio roaming di benvenuto in Spagna. Da qui riesco a vedere nitidamente il promontorio britannico di Gibilterra e le case andaluse nella baia di Algeciras. All'inizio del percorso, a picco sul mare, qualcuno ha costruito un rifugio di fortuna: capre e asini pascolano liberamente tra le rocce, gli arbusti e i cespugli di questa montagna; il mare è di un blu indaco screziato, le onde si infrangono con fragore sulla scogliera e i gabbiani che volano assiduamente sopra la mia testa, sembrano giocare con le forti raffiche di vento. Come sempre resto a lungo in silenzio, affascinato da tutto. Davanti a me l'îlôt Leila. Secondo gli abitanti del luogo quest'isola rappresenta la leggendaria Ogigia, narrata da Omero nel libro V dell'Odissea, dove la bella ninfa Calipso trattenne Ulisse per 7 lunghi anni, prima di essere costretta a lasciarlo andare per volere di Zeus.

Vivere per ognuno di noi ha mille fattezze e sfumature: per me tutti i colori, i profumi e le emozioni sono racchiusi in luoghi come questo. Non c'è niente di più autentico dello scoprire il mondo che ci è stato donato. Sentire il suo respiro significa sentire meglio il mio.
