Hornet headcanon!
'Hornet' is not Hornet's true name.
I'm still torn between different reasonings for her having the name either
A- It was given to her as an honorary title, by Queen Vespa, during her training within the hive (or bestowed upon her after having finished her training as a symbol of her accomplishments.)
Or B- She gave the name to herself, after the fall of the kingdom, as a way to separate her current self from her past while still honoring some part of her past. (The part that is easiest for her to look back on.)
As for her birth name my sisters and I have decided on Arachnè. (The name is from a Greek myth, where the protagonist Arachnè challenges Athena to a weaving contest, wins, and is afterwards transformed into a spider.)

I could count the amount of original stories of mine that don't have horror elements on one hand and idk what that says about me
#thylacines can talk#actually i do know it says mmmmm making horror monster ocs is fun#outside of my fandom ocs my ocs and original stories arre dominated by horror elements and religious themes oopsie daisy#i might eventually post about them but the hk brainrot is going strong#but a friend of mine got a commission for me of my doomer human x monster yaoi so you'll see my Main Babygirls soon 🥰#hand in unlovable hand they're fucked and weird and it's an unhealthy relationship and it'll never work as everything is stacked against#them yet each other is all they have and if being together means their death then so be it. Peter should have probably ran. Should have left#would be better off for the majorth of the story had he never met it yet the two are so alike. it's the first thing that's ever unnderstood#him. it's the first 'person' that's ever truly cared for him. And even if it has flaws and his life was ruined by things beyond his#comprehension and he risks his life he's not willing to let go of the only person whos truly seen him and loved him. Who is willing to tear#its world apart and die for him. There are no happy endings here. They were doomed from the start. But at least they have each other.#also tfw your life and 'family' sucks so much that a literal monster who manipulated you and used your body to carry out ruthless murders is#nicer to you than your goddamn brother and friends. like damn dude.#I honestly think if Slaughter was born a human their relationship would be great for both of them they truly fit together like two puzzle#pieces. two outcasts who have so much in common and find comfort in one another. but because of the circumstances of Slaughter's nature and#what it was forced to be this is not a healthy situation or a relationship. Peter comes out better at the end and would be as good as dead#if not for meeting Slaughter so there's a silver lining in all of this but goddamn dude. the bullshit it took to get there.#The fact that his life was so bad literally getting possessed by a monster and almost being murdered numerous times and an insane amount of#trauma and bbeing a target for monsters for the rest of your life literally IMPROVED IT my guy truly cant catch a fucking break 😭😭

i have one question,, and it is how tf do you write a hk fanfic????? like ive had this silly fanfic idea rotating around in my head space for a damn good while now and it basicallty goes "hey what if thk went outside the borders of hallownest after one of the two (???) endings they're actually alive in"
and ik it sounds real simple on the surface, there's probably a fic like that floatin around on ao3 or something but the two problems here are one: i have no idea how to write a good story (think lost kin by @mostlydeadallday) without it being a messy collection of big words stapled to a shitty plot, and two: there's a whole other narrative that i also have not a slightest clue on how to write it so its not bad, and it has its own history that i should probably rethink too
this probably sounds whiny as hell im sorry
honestly my guy...i have no idea. Writing, like anything else, takes a shitload of effort and work to learn how to make everything flow. It's something that I've been going at for over 10 years now, and I've improved a lot since then!! It's just a lot of seeing what writing styles I like, how the author made it work, and then trying to try my hand at it myself to find whatever fits best. it's not very helpful, but practice is the best route I can offer bc i too am wading through this still learning
Only bit of advice I can really give is to try to write an outline of the fic's timeline. Do you have an end goal, or just scenes? If you do have scenes, how do you want them to be strung together? That will give you a basis for how you want to write your fic- if it should be longform, or is better off as scattered drabbles just for fun. Just writing down the bits and bobs in your brain can help you arrange them around into something that makes a lot more sense and has a nice linear plotline
And have fun doing it! Don't care what people think or about how much engagement you get from it. Fanfic and fandom is supposed to be about your own personal enjoyment, not about production. Be proud of yourself for making anything at all, not about how 'shitty' your final product might be. This is about fun, not stress

Ask game:
#7 for all games. Considering most people hate your most special little guy due to fanon characterization, I was wondering if you feel that way about a different blorbo?
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
Oohh nooooo you're gonna make me get people Angry at me... dangerous game. Dangerous game.
Well, let's see... You said all games so I'm ignoring media like ONE for now,
HK: Well, honestly, I can't say there's any character I've come to hate due to the fandom. I find the HK fandom is (MOSTLY) pretty good about fanon characterization. MOSTLY. MOSTLY.
The only character I look at and kinda... I dunno, grit my teeth over? Would be the Pale King. And I am choosing my words carefully now, because I know he is a Very Popular subject in the fandom, for all very fair and valid reasons, but....................
I don't know. Something about how fanon treats that guy makes me recoil more often that not. In more ways than one. It's the thing where fanon has no idea how to handle morally grey characters, and so most depictions of PK I see are either totally sand-papered (not really woobified, a word I cannot stand, just... painted in a far nicer light than I would give him) or demonized beyond belief.
also idk man taking one of the most morally compelling characters and reducing him to one of two things (evil baby killer who killed babies because he's evil and hates babies vs. a dressed up cute hamster to put in your pocket) is just. well. I'm not super into it, I'll be honest
So I'm just. Wary, I guess, of depictions of the Pale King shdgKJH. Not necessarily that I hate the character, just. Well. U know.
AHIT: Vanessa, next media
COTL: Hmrmgm. I gotta think. The problem here is that COTL's canon characterization is . Limited, so the fanon being buckwild and inconsistent makes sense,,,, aka there's no really established? Fanon? Things are everywhere! And I haven't been here long enough for any one fandom perception to irritate me, I think.
HOWever. And. I say this quietly, at the end of this post, where no one now following me after two Narinder-focused posts blew up will see it, i've seen so much of that cat I'm getting a little tired of him LIKE I love the potential of Narinder, I love what the fandom HAS done with him (for the most part), but he's. Everywhere. He's getting 110% of the attention.
When I was in the AHIT fandom I understood Snatcher getting more attention than everyone because, in blunt honesty, he was the only one that got even the tiniest smidge of character development in the source material, but. For Cotl???????? I'd argue everyone's pretty even on that, AKA everyone is SUPER VAGUE and open to interpretation.
so like. There is not nearly enough content of everyone else compared to Narinder, in my opinion. Can everyone look at the other bishops for a second . BEYOnd their interactions with Narinder, even if those are extremely fun and I also indulge in them (not pretending I haven't lmao).
better yet Can we start looking at............ characters that aren't the bishops..................

Kr/mn is problematic be cause of kirishima's gay coding. Shipping him with girls seems wrong and makes people uncomfortable. As for kc/hk, they don't like each other in canon at all, and pairing izuku's best friend with his bully seems fucked up
maaaaaaaaan i don’t wanna argue about this but i’ll type out all my thoughts here so i don’t have to do it again
you guys Know i don’t like krmn and it makes me uncomfortable personally but we are in a world that is still very anti-lgbt and the manga industry - bnha Especially - has done nothing to prove that it’s trying to provide good lgbt rep. and you guys KNOW that i see kirishima as 100% gay, the fact that i can relate to him is a big reason he’s my favorite, but i’m speaking as a Very cynical lesbian when i say that you have to take subtext with a grain of salt. do i want all of the hinting to mean that kirishima is gay in canon? absolutely! have there also been a lot of examples in history of characters being queer coded when the author had no intentions of doing so? absolutely. not to mention that the only character horikoshi has confirmed as gay/bi is toga who, in his words, “kills both men and women”. not to mention that a lot of the “canon support” comes from Smash, which 1) is non-canon content and 2) treats kirishima having a crush on bkg entirely as a joke. you can’t flame people if the character hasn’t been (and probably won’t ever be) confirmed as gay. not to mention there are a Million worse things people are doing, in fandom and the world in general, and that energy could be going towards actual lgbt issues in the real world which will ALWAYS be more important than someone on the internet shipping an anime boy and an anime girl.
and i’m not gonna act like i LIKE kacchako, but man, you GOTTA understand that the basis of bkg’s character is that he can change. it’s not like when i write krbk i’m imagining a boy who is only ever coarse and mean and never makes an effort to be a better person around the person he likes. shipping is literally just for fun! it’s not a contest of "my pairing is more canon than yours”! i don’t look at their interactions in canon and think “yeah there could be something there”, but that doesn’t mean that it’s wrong for someone to say “but here’s how there could be” and imagine what point in their character development would let them fit well together. nobody’s out here interpreting bkg yelling at/threatening uraraka as romantic, the same way we don’t think it’s romantic when bkg beats kirishima over the head while tutoring him, the WHOLE appeal of shipping bkg with ANYONE is that it would give him another reason to be a better person. he’s already changed enough in canon that at this point acting like he can’t get along with deku is an invalid argument. and we already know izuocha is endgame so it’s not like anyone’s convinced kacchako’s gonna be canon! it all goes back to people having fun on the internet! if you really hate it so much block the tag, but there’s no use in stirring up drama acting like someone’s doing something morally wrong by liking a pairing that you don’t like. if you’re really putting so much energy into hating a harmless pairing that you get mad if someone who likes it so much as looks at your blog, you gotta re-evaluate your priorities, my guy
tl;dr: being mad about non-toxic ships is no hill to die on and fandom is a much more positive experience if you let people who aren’t hurting anyone have their fun

GET TO KNOW ME BETTER*
*beware, long answers ahead
(copied this from @rafaelafranzen; had some time on my hands so thought i’d bang this long post out. anyhow if y’all wanna do this thing on your blog, if you’re bored and so forth, please feel free. would love to see what you guys wrote!)
ONE / name: gabrielle is the name!
TWO / birthday: october 3
THREE / zodiac sign: libra. (but i’m also a rat, in the chinese zodiac!)
FOUR / height: UMMMMM LAST I CHECKED (and that was a long time ago), 153cm???
FIVE / hobbies: reading, first and foremost. creative writing is next, and drawing? or sketching, because it’s been a long time since i’ve gone beyond pencil scribbles in my various sketchbooks. i also love to bake, and owning a stand mixer is my dream.
(does window-shopping count as a hobby because i could structure a whole day around just wandering through malls and shops just doing that without spending a single penny. it’s fun! particularly if you’re in good company.)
SIX / favourite colour: blue is nice. i like blues.
SEVEN / favourite book: the honest answer is that it’s very hard to choose favourites, my taste in books vary depending on the time and some things i used to be utterly convinced were faves end up being...alright...at a later date?  the last two years i’ve been steadily immersing myself into a lot of SF/F and i tend to adore all of them as a result of getting those reads from woc reviewers.*
in the meantime, here’s my current faves that come to mind without hesitation and with little doubt in hindsight: (literary fiction) frankenstein by mary shelley, never let me go by kazuo ishiguro, (fantasy) the tiger’s daughter by k. arsenault rivera, (sci-fi) the long way to a small angry planet by becky chambers, and finally (fantasy/mythology?) the song of achilles by madeline miller.
*if you’re a queer poc like me who’s gotten a bit picky and cynical about mainstream publishing over the years (partly due to being spoiled by wonderfully written and equally wonderfully free fanfic), woc reviewers usually have the best recommendations.
EIGHT / last song I listened to: under attack by abba
NINE / last film I watched: rocketman. it was awesome!
TEN / inspiration or muse: there’s some writing out there that just gets those creativity gears running. the kind of writing where you just wanna absorb via osmosis or something because just reading it with my own two eyes isn’t enough. i’m not even saying like good stories kind of writing (although that’s definitely one form of inspiration), i mean like writing style. the turns of phrases that stick to you, choice words that make you feel a great number of things, clever syntax that has you coming back. you could drink it all up.
don’t @ me for saying this: i know there’s a lot of stuff worth critiquing over with john green’s novels, it definitely isn’t for everyone and i totally respect that because i see all the flaws in his books as well, but his writing style is something i quite unabashedly enjoy, for example, because of how dry and direct it is. (which makes me wonder that not nearly enough White Men are dry AND direct: they’re all dry and.....insufferably and intolerably long-winded.) and then there’s madeline miller, k. arsenault rivera, and naomi novik -- fantasy writers that have very atmospheric writing, the kind where you feel the beat of some unsung song in the way their story is told. they’re also my go-tos for when i feel the creative well is all dried up.
ELEVEN / dream job: wanna be...an author...
TWELVE / meaning behind your URL: i used to refer to myself as “bluey” Back In The Day (which is another long story that involves warrior cats), and i had an online friend who lived in japan that nicknamed me “brew” because it was how she pronounced “blue” in her head. the nickname caught on in the community i was in, and i grew quite fond of it myself; figured it was time for a change after a while and went with some combination involving “brew” thereafter with my social media handles (sans my instagram). the “-cha”....well...tea, anyone?
THIRTEEN / top 3 ships: aziraphale/crowley from good omens, chirrut/baze from rogue one, aaand peraltiago from brooklyn nine-nine. some variation of Married™ and two halves of a whole idiot.
FOURTEEN / lipstick or lip balm: lip balm. i do like seeing lipstick on other people more because other people wear lipstick better than i can.
FIFTEEN / currently reading: red, white, and royal blue by casey mcquiston. sign me the heck up for gay ass hate-to-love.
SIXTEEN / work: i’m an english teacher, but i am self-employed on an official capacity since i’m hired through an agency. i have yet to land a permanent job, though i’m starting a masters in creative writing in september. we’ll see how things go.
SEVENTEEN / fiction: most of the things i’ve written for public/semi-public consumption (i.e. submitted as an assignment/project, had it published in a collection, etc) have been just about....people? people as people and people interacting. my most notable(??) piece is a short-short story about a 20-something gay woman’s relationship with her single father, who is also gay and has been in love with his childhood friend the whole time. it’s not a tense story, the father-daughter relationship is a good, strong one; just one where the daughter reflects on Life as she considers coming out to her dad, when it turns out he wants to come out to her too because he’s so inspired by her. i wrote it for a short story class, and imagine how gratified i felt when all my classmates in the workshop kept asking me if the dad + childhood friend get married later!!
but i’ve also done a lot of SF/F in my spare time, some projects i’m experimenting with. there’s one about a girl and a sword from space, there’s another that might as well be good omens fanfic since the characters involved are very aziraphale- and crowley-like, and there’s one completely suuuuper self-indulgent thing involving superheroes. just a lot of stuff i’m exploring and figuring out!
EIGHTEEN / fanfiction: I HAVEN’T WRITTEN FANFICTION IN SO LONG. the last thing i wrote and uploaded was a short chirrut/baze thing. they were played by chinese actors, one of whom’s from hong kong where i live, so it was an au where they (particularly chirrut) grew up in hk. the most fanfic i’ve ever written was during my free! and haikyuu!! days...those were some awesome days not gonna lie.
would love to write good omens fanfic, considering how obsessed i am with it, but there’s something ineffable about them that makes me hesitant to even attempt nailing down their characters in my own writing. like i’m not even worthy of the multitudes they contain. i’ve enjoyed all the fanfic that’s been pouring out of the fandom lately, however. i love me some sweet, sweet tropes.
(remember that project in #17 where the characters are very aziraphale- and crowley-like? sometimes i look at the shorts i’ve written for those ocs, the slice-of-life type of shorts where i’m just playing around with dialogue instead of plot, and think to myself “with some name-changes and tweaking this could be GO fanfic. why not??? WHY NOT????”)

I love this one! Thanks @villainous-surrender for tagging me!
Here are the rules:
1. Post the rules.
2. Answer the questions given to you by the tagger.
3. Post 11 questions of your own.
4. Tag 11 people.
@villainous-surrender asked me the following questions:
1. Are you a fan of the Rey Kenobi theory? Why/why not?
I would have been fine with Rey Kenobi (because who wouldn’t want Ewan Mc Gregor as Rey’s grandpa?) but tbh of all the Rey parentage theories, I was more attracted to Rey Palpatine and Rey Nobody.
2. Other Star Wars pairings that you are a fan of?
I have no issues with any SW pairings (canon or not) but I’m not invested in any of them if that’s the question.
3. When did you first start shipping reylo and why?
December 2015, after my first viewing, although I’m not a shipper at heart so it took me 4 viewings to sort of process my emotions.
I instantly latched onto the mythological aspect of Rey and Kylo’s relationship but I also loved how the writers had subverted the gender dynamic between the two characters, and that’s what really sealed the deal for me. It also took me a few months to process and accept what I had seen inside Kylo’s character. When you’ve been living in denial for 30 years it’s scary to open up.
4. Are there other hero/villain pairings that you like? I’ll give you my first ship and one of my favorites: batcat.
Hum, not really, but kinda yes at the same time? I was into Marauder area Snupin when I was younger so it kinda fits the profile?
5. After watching Episode VIII, do you honestly believe Rey and Kylo will have a happy ending? Why/why not?
Yes. Because the seeds have been planted for them to have a reconciliation and I have a theory about how we can save Ben Solo’s neck (I am DYING to share my ideas, but it’s the whole plot of the fanfic I’m writing so I don’t want to discuss it beforehand lol). Also, Kathleen Kennedy confirmed multiple times that SW is about HOPE. There’s no point in having those two characters being killed off or separated at the end of 9.
6. List one thing you really liked about TLJ and one thing you didn’t.
Liked: Obviously Reylo. I mean, I’m one of those obnoxious shippers who never doubted it was canon and endgame but at the same time, I expected to see their relationship bloom in 9, not within the first twenty minutes of TLJ. XD I was over the moon. Also, I am so vindicated that ‘my’ reylo is canon (depressed, self-loathing Kylo & wide-eyed not-so-farting-rainbows-Rey.)
Didn’t like: I guess Leia in space is the bit that threw me off a little, especially the first time. I’m glad that we were given the opportunity to witness how strong she is with the Force but it does feel OTT.
Other than that, I can’t say I hated any other aspect of the movie because it carries messages that I strongly believe in.
7. Who is your favorite Star Wars character (that also isn’t one of the main characters in this trilogy or past ones)?
HK-47, you can tell he was written by David Gaider. <3
8. Which do you prefer: dark!reylo, reyben (redeemed!Ben Solo), or gray jedi?
Gray/Prime Jedi is my jam. Gimme balance, reconciliation, healing, and acceptance that your dark impulses are natural.
9. What do you think about Kylo’s whole “I will finish what my grandfather started!” Why do you think this is one of his main motivations, and do you think he doesn’t know that Anakin was redeemed in the end?
Ah! That sentence is so meta, I love it <3.
But okay, to me, in the context of the movie (aka what Kylo is actually thinking), it means ending the Jedi once and for all - because that was a big part of Darth Vader’s job. There’s also this misconception that Tuanul village was a settlers compound when the villagers were actually cultists of the Church of the Force. They were religious opponents to Ren, which explains why he treated them as war enemies. The Church of the Force and Lor San Tekka are really intent on bringing back the Jedi Order, which obviously goes against Kylo’s spiritual beliefs (also when a Jedi tried to kill you in your sleep, you’re probably not inclined to believe they’re the good guys.)
As for what Kylo really knows about Vader, I think that it’s pretty distorted. From Bloodline, we know he wasn’t aware that Vader was his grandfather until late, meaning his family lied to him all his life. We can safely assume that after that, he would take whatever information they fed him about Vader and the Empire with a grain of salt. This leaves Snoke, as his sole purveyor of information, which also explains why Kylo in TFA is so obsessed with connecting with objects belonging to Vader. As a Force user, that’s probably his sole source of “reliable” (ahem) information.
10.  If you were a character in the SW universe, what kind of person do you think you would be? A Jedi? A stormtrooper? A PORG?!?
I would like to be a powerful Force-sensitive warrior of some sort and that’s why I really hope Rey and Kylo are going to go down the Prime Jedi route. I would be a pretty poor Jedi but I couldn’t be a Sith. But with my luck, if I was reincarnated as a Star Wars character, I’d probably be a slave on a backwater planet or a fathier.
11. And finally: Are you a writer, artist, or just here for the fun? If you are either a writer or artist, what inspires you the most in this fandom?
I've been dabbling in a bit of everything, although no one ever picks me in either fanfic writers, fanartists or meta writers lists (You’re all hurting my 3 feelings guyz!)
The dynamic between Rey and Kylo is what inspires me the most. Even when writing modern AUs I try to stay true to their characterization and what motivates them. I’m in love ‘kay?
My questions:
Rate the Star Wars movies in order, from your favourite to least favourite.
What’s your true opinion on Anakin? Victim of circumstances or little shit? Bit of both?
Darth Maul: Hot or Nope?
What’s your favourite Reylo moment in canon, and why?
What’s your favourite Reylo trope/moment in fandom? (can be a scene from a specific fanfic or something general)
Is there anything you’d written differently if you were working on Star Wars since 1977?
Can you believe we were given the gift of shirtless Kylo on the big screen?
What’s your ideal Reylo ending? (marriage, exile, babies, tragic death,...)
Do you have something in common with Rey?
Do you have something in common with Kylo Ren/Ben Solo?
What is the (N)SFW Reylo headcanon you will defend to the death?
I tag: @kuresoto @i-am-thesenate @personalphilosophie @solikerez @lariren-shadow @punkeraa @shieldmaidenfreda @leofgyth @ridingbensolo @somaybelikeno @cosetteskywalker
