I Know Joy Because I Know You
I didn't specify the type of alcohol so imagine whatever you'd wish! I imagine I’m enjoying a nice Shirley Temple to my heart’s content, cherries courtesy of Luce
Pairing: gn!reader x Lucifer (at last, an established relationship!)
TW: Alcohol use, some brief discussion of Devildom politics, some intense wooing, very brief mention of violence, uhh let me know if there's anything else, ty!
Word Count: ~4,400
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
"Now then, MC."  A faint click sounds behind you as Lucifer locks the door to his office. "What have you brought for me tonight?"
"Something I hope you'll enjoy." You spare him a coy glance over your shoulder, raising your brow with a knowing smile. "You're a fan of classical, no?"
The iron railing underneath your palm is cool to the touch as you begin to journey downstairs. Your hand drags against the grooves, feeling how some of the iron has dimpled in its wear over millennia. You hold a flat brown paper bag that you've tucked into your arm against you as you descend, trying to minimize the inevitable crinkling sound that follows every step you take.
You peer over the railing to the space below. The fireplace crackles every so often as it casts its light across the room, bathing everything before it in a warm orange glow.
“That, I am.”  You shiver at the gruff timbre of Lucifers voice, his footsteps trailing close behind you.
He sounds as exhausted as you expected him to be after a full day's work. How he even remains upright among constant chaos forever remains a mystery to you. Really, you had insisted you two meet another night. Insisted that he rest with what little free time he was granted.
But his pride wouldn't have it.
"Don't be absurd." He had said then, will unyielding. "Such time would best be spent in your company. I am not so fallible as to push myself beyond my limits. I assure you; I have tested them enough to know them well."
At the bottom of the stairs awaits your shared reflection, crystal clear imitations in the perfectly polished tile. You've long forgone your uniform in favor of loungewear. Lucifer, however, remains as pristine and presentable as ever. At the very least, he has freed himself of his coat and gloves.
He comes to stand beside you, placing a bare hand onto the small of your back. The touch warms your skin as he rubs away the tightness he finds there in small, tight circles. You too, are quite terribly exhausted.
He presses a kiss upon your head.
"Please, have a seat."
He nudges you forward, toward the pair of chairs turned away from the fireplace. You set the bag onto the low table before plopping down and reclining into the plush red cushions. You can't see him, but you can feel Lucifer standing behind you, his presence heavy over the backrest.
"Thank you for joining me."
The indistinct sound of shuffling catches your ear, but the comfort of your current position persuades you from peeking. "The past few weeks have been stressful, I'm sure. Midterms at R.A.D., for a human no less, are no easy feat."
"Yeah." You hum, eyes drooping at the pleasant warmth prickling your skin from the flames flickering behind you. "They were tough, but everyone was helpful in reviewing all the material."
"Everyone?" You're well acquainted with the suspicion underlying that tone.
"Yes, Lucifer. Everyone." Your eyes slip shut. "Even Mammon and Leviathan." He huffs somewhere above you.
"I'm certain their motivations were more in the interest of monopolizing your time than in helping you succeed." You can feel Lucifer bend down behind you, the force of his breath rushing against the shell of your ear. "However, it seems their efforts have paid off."
"You have done well, beloved. Nearly perfect marks on most of your exams."
You take a deep breath, fighting the blush threatening to spread across your cheeks at his praise. You're still not quite used to these pet names.
"I'm just glad it's over with. It was a lot, but I bet it's nothing compared to what you've been dealing with on a daily basis."
Your eyes shoot open as you feel Lucifer's hands latch onto your shoulders. You groan at the pressure built in there as he prods at the space with his thumbs, mapping out all of your tension. Slowly, but surely, his fingers begin to press into the skin there, unrelenting on the sore muscles that lie beneath. Unable to hold your head up any longer, you flop backwards and peer up at the demon.
With his back to the fireplace, a darkness overcomes his features. The shadows fail, however, to mask the sinful gaiety swimming within his eyes. From this position, you watch as the warmth awaiting behind him twists and turns, fighting against itself. Flames flickers to and fro, as if his presence alone commands hellfire.
You're pinned down by his gaze. His heady eyes are like a glass of full-bodied red wine, and being their sole focus makes your head all hazy. Yet, you catch on to how they crinkle at their corners, accompanying his wicked grin as you become all but pliable in his hands. As your head rolls a bit to the right, you note the lack of strain that accompanies the action.
Lucifer is a damn good masseuse.
But really, he should be the one receiving such lavish treatment. Hopefully, you think, he'll come around to taking pride in your desire to care for him so that you can return the fa-
Your heart nearly leaps into your throat as you catch a glimpse of bare forearm in your peripheral. You conclude that must have been the shuffling you heard earlier - the rolling of sleeves. A snort of amusement sounds above you in response to your shock.
"Are you so easily distracted by the sight of bare skin?"
Well, no, you think.
"Just yours."
You curse your loose lips and brace yourself to be lectured by your lover. But nothing comes.  A small "hmph" draws your attention towards Lucifer and your pulse quickens at the captivating sight before you.
His brows pulled together, eyes flickering between you and the wall, and a blush warming his pale cheeks makes you swoon. You coo internally at the pout that pulls at his lips; the same one you had mistaken as a frown for so long. You reach up and place your hands upon his forearms, hands squeezing the skin tenderly.
"Beautiful." You mumble.
Had you not been watching him so intently; you'd have missed how his eyes had widened. As they come to settle once more onto your own, you still. You're not sure what to make of the dangerous glint bouncing within them. Lucifer smirks as his hands pause in their task.
He cocks his head before he descends upon you. You breathe him in, the familiar scent of frankincense and leather leaving you dizzy as his lips brush lightly against your own.
You close your eyes, lips pursed.
"While I appreciate your admiration in all its forms." Your breath hitches as Lucifer's form shakes above you with a snicker. "It is well beneath you to undermine your achievements."
As you feel his form recede from you, you sit up, mouth agape. That's what you get for teasing him, you suppose.
"Seriously though, Lucifer. Such stress can't be good for you." You had found him nearly half asleep at his desk at least two times this week.
Lucifer waves off your concern as he saunters over to his desk. Papers are piled into neat stacks, an open envelope can be found here and there, and within the coffee mug that holds his pens you find one you'd gifted him from a museum in the human world.
"We have already discussed this at great length. Unfortunately, there are some roles which only I can, and must, fulfill." Bending over his desk, you watch Lucifer reach for something on the seat of his chair. When he turns to face you again, a large wicker picnic basket dangles by his side. In just a few strides, Lucifer comes to stand before you. He reaches a hand out to your cheek and you hold it there, leaning into his touch.
"I only ask that you humor me in these moments when I have the rare occurrence to mix business with pleasure."
Pulling away from you, Lucifer uses the space beside your package on the low table to lay out what he's packed for the two of you. You soon recognize the assortment of treats to be your favorites from Hell's Kitchen. You gasp when your eyes happen upon the wrath beast tartar. You'd only had the privilege of tasting during the very far and few private dinners between you, Lord Diavolo, and Lucifer himself.
"Lucifer." He simpers at the way you call out to him, looking quite pleased with himself as you gaze in awe at the spread before you. "A few treats are fine, but this is too much. At least let me pitch in next time."
"You will do no such thing." You know better than to push him when his tone is so firm. "Such costs are miniscule in the face of your accomplishments this semester. " He lays out one final dish, giddy goop pie, before closing the basket and resting it on the floor beside the low table.
"Your grades are impressive. But your ability to corral the others is an achievement all of its own, especially on days when they insist on being endlessly troublesome. Such order seems beyond my means without disciplining them." On a plate, Lucifer piles a couple of pickings for you to partake in before he hands it to you with a soft smile.
"I hope they are all to your liking."
Sauteed wild hare liver, shadow goose meat, egg lasagna, and so, so, much more. Every bite goes down smooth, flavor bursting across your tastebuds. There's no way you'll be able to work through every course, so you ponder over what you'll pack into a plate or two to stash away in the private mini fridge hidden within your room.
"Ah, it's all so good!" You murmur absentmindedly, stabbing your fork into another piece of whole roasted havoc devil and popping it into your mouth with a happy hum.
A chuckle to your left catches your attention. Lucifer sits in the seat beside you, reclined against the cushions with an arm resting over the backrest. Despite the feast before him, his gaze consumes you whole. You begin to chew slower, feeling self-conscious that you are the only one eating.
"Do you not want any?" You set your fork down and face him more fully.
"If it pleases you, I'll take a plate. Although," you fidget in your seat as his eyes rake down your form, "I am sated as is. Indulging you is quite filling."
"O-oh." You smile shyly before looking down at your plate. You lift your fork, using its prongs to poke at the egg lasagna. "I'd like for you to enjoy this with me, not, you know, just me."
"As you wish."
Without another word, Lucifer stands and prepares a plate for himself. Steadily you two work through the dishes, never finishing, but at least sampling each plate.
"I am grateful, really," you laugh, belly full, "but why buy this much? You must have known we wouldn't finish it all."
"Well," you flush at the fondness with which he takes you in, "I was unsure which you would prefer more. It would have been a shame to lack in anything you might have desired." You are humbled by the admission. All of this, just for you, so that there was little chance you'd be disappointed.
"No matter. Whatever we do not finish, will be finished, eventually." The amusement in his tone makes you giggle.
"Yes, I'm sure the others will be all too happy about this." Lucifer sits up and begins to re-package the dishes. Although he protests, you join him and soon enough develop a rhythm that has the low table back to its original state in no time. You go to sit down again as you hear a ping echo in the room.
Lucifer reaches into his back pocket, fishing out his D.D.D. He heaves a heavy sigh as he looks over the screen.
"Back to business?"  You see the briefest hint of annoyance overcome his features.
"I've been tasked with surveying candidates to fill a vacant teaching position." Lucifer pinches the bridge of his nose between thumb and forefinger. "There is a high volume of applicants. However, I must ensure that they are capable of honoring Lord Diavolo's demands and are up to standard before I pass their files over to Barbatos."
"Up to standard?" You tilt your head to rest it against the cushion. It's rare for him to divulge working matters to you.
"Whoever is selected will be within close proximity to the future king." He answers, clicking off the phone and shoving it back into his pocket. "Credentials are important. But my concern lies with their motivations for teaching at R.A.D. now that we've begun this exploratory program."
"Because of Solomon and I?" You feel a small pang in your chest. You know you're not to blame, but you hate creating more work for him, even if unintentionally.
"It is a matter beyond the students currently in attendance. This is, of course, only the initial stages for our Lord's desire to begin open communication between the three realms."
"As one can imagine, when such channels become open, problems will arise. Those in opposition of current leadership are likely to rebel and having connections within the school will only further increase their chances of contact with the Student Council, or worse."
Your mind spins with the revelation that even your relationship with Lucifer carries a political undertone. You know not all demons have been favorable of the program, but having witnessed the strength of the Avatars, the thought that any of them could be defeated, that Diavolo could be defeated, had escaped your mind. Your shoulders curl forward as dread begins to seep in. It's a terrifying realization and a reality you hope this timeline will never face.
"Calm yourself."
A finger hooks beneath your jaw, lifting your head to meet Lucifer's brooding gaze as he appears before you on one knee.
 "I do not wish to instill unnecessary fear within you. I will not allow any of us to be put in such a precarious position. Of that, I give you my word."
You nod, reaching up to take his hand within your own. You and the others have been up to your usual antics, unaware of the potential severity of internal conflict brewing under Lucifer's watchful eye. The weight he bears is more oppressive than you could even begin to understand. You can't imagine a single soul who could handle the immense pressure of such a grave task in stride as he does.
"I don't fear for myself." You press a kiss to the back of his hand and feel his fingers wrapping tighter around yours. "But that does put me at ease. Thank you, Lucifer. I know..."
You do not doubt where you stand in his heart, but often question your place in matters dealing with Diavolo.
"Know what?"  He asks. You take a deep breath, and steady your gaze upon his. You want him to take this seriously and know that you mean it.
"I know there might not be much I can do for the time being, and you have done well on your own. But, if there comes a day when I can help you, regardless of the task, I ask that you don't hesitate. I understand these matters are way beyond my understanding, but I want you to place your trust in me."
Your chest seizes as silence fills the room, but Lucifer is merciful enough to stop you before you can stew in your anxiety. Carefully, he pulls your hand within his to his lips, pressing a kiss of his own onto the skin.
He says nothing as he stands, but that is much better than rejecting you outright. He's acknowledged your request, and that is enough for now.
"Since we have finished dinner, shall we move on to a review of your performance? I would also like to set aside some time to address expectations for the remainder of the semester." You perk up as he steps over to the liquor-lined shelves.
The actual reason you'd been called to his office had slipped your mind. Each semester, Lucifer conducts a one-on-one midmester progress check-in with each brother. Having come to live under his household, you have not been spared from the formality.
"Is that what I hope it is?" You'd agreed to the meeting, but that didn't mean you two couldn't enjoy it thoroughly. Lucifer shakes his head softly with a snort.
"If you are suggesting that it is your favorite alcoholic beverage from the human realm, then yes. That is what we agreed upon."
You feel excitement welling up within you as he walks back with two glasses. You've wanted to drink with him for some time, but demonus has no effect on humankind. So, he had proposed an exchange in preparation for your meeting: human liquor for acceptable grades.
You spare a look to the bag that sits on the table.
You couldn't just leave it at that though, so, you had asked that he allow you to put in a private request. You've selected something else to exchange with him, something you have wanted to share with him after your time back in the human realm.
You two sit for some time, sipping on your drinks as you go through the usual routine. With each course and thorough grade evaluation, time seems to slow. Warmth bursts from within your chest, whipping wildly throughout your body, and radiates from your cheeks. Having paced himself, Lucifer appears much the same as before, but his face is not unaffected by the same flush that has overcome you.
"It pleases Lord Diavolo that you have adjusted so well and have decided to continue your studies here in the Devildom." He sets your report down onto the low table before reclining back into his seat.
Oh. It seems you two have finally finished. How lovely.
"You have made a rather fine impression for humanity, despite this unexpected arrangement. Such performance bodes well for us all."
"It pleases just Lord Diavolo?" You quip, raising a brow at him over your glass.
Lucifer turns to you, a wry smile on his face as he takes a swig of demonus.
"You would have me put my praise into words when I've already laid it out for you here," he motions to first to your glass, then to the basket still resting upon the floor, "and here?"
When your eyes have finally caught up to his motions, you look to him, a wicked grin rivaling his own.
"Would that be so terrible, Lucifer? I do love the sound of your voice." You tease, brain unfiltered as you sway in your seat.
"How brazen of you to question my opinion of you. Do you not wear my mark upon your skin, Master?" A pleasant shiver crawls through you as he purrs the title only reserved for moments like these, hidden away from world.
You reach for your collar. Beneath it, a thrum of magic buzzes against your fingertips. You can only make out the faint glow of royal blue, but do not doubt that Lucifer can see his pact mark in all its glory as he calls it forth.
Even so, you pay it no mind, gaze unflinching as you keep your attention on him. You do, however, trace your finger over the markings you have memorized. Beneath Lucifer's black buttoned up, skin starts to glow.
Lucifer sighs heavily, but his tone is filled with adoration. "You are insatiable."
You scoff. "And you're not?"
Your mind flashes with all the stolen kisses the demon has sneaked in between meetings, in hidden hallway corridors, and on early morning walks through the garden before the others have risen. With the countless days you've found notes hidden within your room wishing you a good morning, in the kitchen to remind you to eat, and in the common area requesting that you not stay up too late on the days he is called away on business.
Your favorite, however, are the late-night texts he sends when you are out for the night, always wishing for your wellbeing and safe return to him.
Your jaw drops as Lucifer combs his fingers through his hair, chortling in amusement all the while. The unrestrained display assures you that he is tipsy.
"Yes, as am I. There is much to do with so little time. It has kept me from you longer that I find acceptable most days." He muses as you finish the last sip of your third drink, quickly moving on to melting the ice that remains in your mouth.
"As selfish of me as it may be, I'd like nothing more than to keep you by my side."
Your focus returns to him alone as he leans forward towards you on the chair, forearms resting upon his knees. The image feels absurd as Lucifer's tie, loosened from the confines of his half-buttoned vest, simply dangles in the air. Truly, you laugh to yourself, it looks as free as he must feel right now.
"You think my desire for you to be insincere? Were you not the one clambering for my affections?" Your eyes widen and you try to suppress another laugh at his defensiveness to your personal amusement.
"Clambering?!" Yet, you go quiet as Lucifer stands and stumbles over to you. Once more, he kneels before you.
"I will make it certain that you never doubt my feelings for you." He sets his glass onto the table before his hands come to cup your face. You feel yourself burn up at his touch, and it only worsens as he begins.
"I adore you. I would rather be torn apart limb from limb than ever have to watch you leave my side. There will never be a day that I stop loving you and never will I cease my desire to pass the rest of my existence within the comfort of your embrace."
You feel faint.
"The thought I may ever disappoint you destroys me; that you might ever be angry with me causes me to lose all reason. I would live for you, die for you, kill for you if you ever wished it."
Your heart feels as if it's going to burst if he looks into your eyes like this any longer.
"I know joy because I know you. I loath to ever be apart from you and think only of how quickly I can return to you when I am away. Your mind, body, and soul have bewitched me for all eternity. I am forever devoted to your happiness, as it is my own."
Oh yes, you really think you might faint.
"We could rearrange this space." You have a brief respite as Lucifer's eyes flitter around the room in contemplation. There is no doubt in your mind that he can feel the warmth emanating from you, and not just from the liquor. "Maybe a desk to join mine so that I might have the pleasure of your company for as long as I'd like."
"Lucifer!" You whine, but he hushes you with a tender kiss.
"Yes, I'm quite taken with the idea. To gaze upon the holder of my affection as I wish with little interruption from others. How does that sound?"
You're breathless as he gazes into your eyes once more. You chide yourself for ever having questioned the depth of his affections in the past. All he does, he does for his family. A family that has claimed you as their own.
You are too tipsy to pour your heart out in a dignified manner, so you tuck away the idea to do so properly when you are sober. But you cup his face in your hands as he holds yours.
"Wonderful." You reply. "Nothing would make me happier than to love you, forever, and be loved by you, forever." It's not as grand as his prose, but it is enough to make Lucifer purr some. The quiet rumble shocks you. Rarely does he allow himself to be so carefree.
You are reminded that he has in fact had at least four drinks as his head droops down onto your shoulder. You hold onto him so that he does not fall, content to remain in this peaceful moment that belongs solely to the two of you.
After some time passes, Lucifer lifts his head off you.
"Might I confess something to you, my love?"
"Yes, Lucifer, dear. What is it?" You think you might like the way the term of endearment rolls off your tongue.
He glimpses to the low table beside the two of you. "This request of yours has tormented me for some time. Finally, will you share what you have been keeping from me?"
"Don't misunderstand me." You murmur, smoothing a finger over his brow before it furrows further. "It was never something to be kept from you."
You move to stand, and Lucifer rises. Upright, you pick up the package off the low table.
"It was always something I planned to share with you." You turn and hold it out to Lucifer.
 "A trade is only fair if what is exchanged is of equivalent value. You brought me entertainment I am only ever able to enjoy in the human realm. So, I thought to bring a form of entertainment you could enjoy."
He takes the paper bag from you, raising a brow as he feels around inside.
"Could it be?" He pulls out a record sleeve.
Lucifer looks at you with a pleased smile. "How considerate of you." He leaves the bag back on his desk as he walks over to the record player.
"As much as I am dying to hear your cursed record collection, I have no desire to actually put myself in mortal danger." Gently, Lucifer pulls the record out from the sleeve.
"It's a copy of a classical jazz record I have at home in the human realm. While I was gone, I would listen to it a lot cause it reminded me of you."
Lucifer places the record, lifts the stylus, and sets it down onto the record to cue. It starts off with a ballad.
He walks back to you, finally flipping the record sleeve over to check the playlist. You're sure he's seen your note when he comes to a stop just before you. You wrote it in blue ink to make sure it stands out from the sleeve's white-gray coloring.
Thinking of you too <3.
Your heart stops as his eyes soften, a hand coming up to cover his mouth. Was the message too much?
"I-" You step towards him.
"As expected of you, to do the unexpected. Whatever will I do with these unfamiliar feelings you stir up within me?"
"Well, first, you could kiss me?" You're giddy with the mirth that lights up his eyes at the suggestion.
"That's true, isn't it? Yes, I think I will kiss you." Closing the gap, Lucifer reaches for your hands and holds them in his.
"I think I will kiss you, and then you and I will dance. I think I shall have you recount just what it is you thought of while you listened to this record, and that I will share in kind just what thoughts the music brings to me."
Lucifer guides your hands, placing them where he would like you to hold onto him.
"After, I think we will have another drink or two, pick at the food even, if you wish. Then, before it is too late in the evening, I will take you to your room. It is only a Thursday night, and you must be up early tomorrow."
He steps back, and you two stumble into a waltz that carries you throughout the room. He leans in and presses his forehead against yours.
"And I hope that then, you will grant me the pleasure of a goodnight kiss."
You grin, leaning your head onto his shoulder. Work prevents him from being as selfish with your time as his brothers are. But he makes the most of these moments he shares with you.
"Yes, dear. As many as you'd like."

Started a new train of thought following ghosts and things, and so here's my head cannon that the people of the Infinite Realms have a religious following and how one Daniel Fenton accidentally became the human priest.
-
"What the fuck do you mean I'm a priest?" Danny stared blankly at the Clockwork.
"I mean that you've become the priest of the Infinite Realms." Clockwork says. "By teaching your friends your following, they've decided to convert and follow with you. They believed what you're following is good and right, so there's human followers to our rituals and beliefs."
"I thought they were just respectful and curious! I don't know how to be a priest? Is there a way to revoke it?"
"Not really." Clockwork shrugs. "It seems fitting. Her Infinite lost her king with you, of course she'd name you her priest. I recommend opening a sanctuary,con holy ground. Gotham would fit."
"Holy shit, no, Clockwork, I'm not going to be a priest! I dont-"
"Damnit." Danny stood in front of the new building he'd just purchased.
It's easy to get it set up for outside use, but following the ways of Infinite, making it sacred ground, that was much harder. He spends weeks purifying the pollution and smog, and even longer doing the required rituals and cleansings.
He doesn't hold masses. He holds classes, every day at seven, to teach about the ghosts and Ancients. He cooks dinner for everyone who comes, and everyone is welcome. He's even told everyone they're welcome to just come and take the food and leave.
Gothamites come to find that if the city has been gassed, the sanctuary has clean air. It remains unharmed by the villains, all the way until one murderous clown declares religious exemption while getting arrested.
It's a very public ordeal and Danny hosts a press conference, three police officers and Batman are present. Joker is in cuffs. "I tell anyone that everyone is welcome to our religion. And if the Joker wishes to be, he will be. Is this what you want?" Danny asks, staring down the murderous clown.
"Oh, yes!" The Clown grins back. Danny pulls a gun, pressing it to the side of his head. Everyone is on edge, and Batman's reaching for his belt.
"For the two thousand, eight-hundred and ninty-three lives you have taken, for the nine-hundred and seventy-four children you have brutally killed. The Infinite Realm does not take kindly to murderers, to terrorist." Danny speaks, unwavering. "For your crimes against the Infinite Realms, for your crimes against humanity, and for all those burdened fathers, mothers, daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, for everyone you have taken, for those you have left behind, you shall face judgement upon the high council of the Infinite Realms upon open court. While there, you shall follow every law, to the letter of the law, or you shall face immediate denial to a trial. You will not be given a lawyer. You will not be given a clean death." Danny lowers his gun, pulling out a knife. He kneels, and rips the air behind the Joker a illuminated green portal is torn.
"From personal experience, there's things much worse than death that you can face. From personal opinion, I hope you face every fucking one before you're torn apart." Danny pushes Joker through the portal, and it closes. He mutters a prayer, standing tall. He retakes his position at the podium.
"For anyone who has faced the Joker, who have had people taken from them, had their own lives taken from them, who have so much as passed him on the street, come to the Realms' Sanctuary on North Blvd. 7308. Join the trial to have him purged, have him face the righteous punishment for the horrendous crimes he has commit." Danny bows.

Eddie gets home from the shop covered in car grease and tired but satisfied with a good day’s work. Opens the door to catch Wayne on his way out,
“Your boy was here earlier,” he tells him clasping his shoulder as greeting.
“Dustin?” Eddie asks confused, trying to remember if they were supposed to meet today.
“No, not the kid. The boyfriend.” Wayne says nonchalantly, moving toward his car.
Eddie splutters and coughs, “Steve? Wayne! He’s not my boyfriend!”
Wayne stops mid-step and turns, looking actually distressed when he asks, “Why not!?”
If his life was a cartoon, Eddie is pretty sure his jaw would be hitting the floor right now, “What do you mean, why not?!”
He raises his hands preparing to start numbering with his fingers all the reasons why and opens his mouth and then… nothing comes up.
Actually, Wayne has a point… Why isn’t Steve his boyfriend?
Wayne fixes him with a look and Eddie closes his mouth and shrugs sheepishly.
“Eddie, the kid just showed up with three tupperwares full of homemade food because he said, and I quote ‘accidentally made too much’ which is a horrible excuse frankly, he’s a horrible liar. Which, for the record, I recond it’s a wonderful quality,” He clasps his shoulder reassuringly and then slaps his cheek softly, “Better get your head out of your ass soon and get on with it, son.”
And then he gets in his car and leaves Eddie there, still standing by the door, mouth slightly agape.
💞
Twenty minutes later he’s standing outside Steve’s and Robin's duplex, knocking on the front door loudly.
“Comming! Oh! Eddie, hi!” Steve answers, and just like always, it punches the air right out of Eddie’s lungs when he sees him. He’ll never get used to how beautiful he is.
He’s barefoot and wearing a huge sweater that makes it look like he’s not wearing anything underneath but Eddie knows he is wearing his green little shorts, the ones that should be illegal. It’s his go-to comfy outfit and it always makes Eddie want to cuddle up with him on the couch and kiss every inch of him.
“Why aren’t you my boyfriend?” Eddie asks, not even bothering to say hi.
Steve blinks at him and opens and closes his mouth quite a few times, it makes Eddie think of those cute fish that throw kisses.
“I- I-” He stammers and then he huffs and leans on the doorframe, and smiles at Eddie with his head cocked to one side. It’s a ten thousand wats smile and it just about blinds him,
“I wanted to ask but- Wait, how come you suddenly showed up?” And then his eyes light up, “Was it the tuppers?”
“What?” Eddie asks confused, “No, Wayne asked me and-” And then he remembers Wayne saying Steve had dropped food for them, “Were you trying to feed me into a relationship?”
Steve shrugs, “Maybe… everything else I tried wasn’t working so…”
Eddie thought about it before while talking to Wayne. When he couldn’t come up with any reasons as to why he wasn’t dating Steve, he realized all the little things they’d been doing for each other. Both of them trying to court the other while being incredibly oblivious to each other.
They really are two idiots in love.
Eddie chuckles, and steps into Steve’s space, he moves a strand of hair out his eyes and lovingly places it behind his ear, “So… would you? Be my boyfriend?” he asks him.
Steve smiles and grabs him by the collar of his shirt and pulls him inside, closing the door to the outside world.
Eddie takes that as a ‘yes’.

Unwavering Presence Chapter 4

Chapter 3 Masterlist
A/N I want to take this moment to say thank you for all the love and support on this story! I am so grateful for you all! It honestly makes my day with every like and comment and reblog that I see! I hope you enjoy this chapter as we finally get some good Cassian X Reader quality time!
The Naga approached the sound of them slithering close causing me to whimper. One gripped my bound arms tightly from behind me, its dry tongue sliding up the column of my neck. The other gripped my breast tightly eliciting a shriek from the back of my throat. “A delicious treat, brother. Just for us.”
I begged for Rhysand to help, prayed he would make it in time. As the creature in front of me gripped my face puckering my lips as he pressed his to my own. I thrashed against them as hard as I could, but they were stronger than me.
Rhysand’s voice came clear as day but instead of sending help it was just my name.
“Y/N! Y/N!”
“Wake up, Y/N.” My eyes blinked open and violet eyes came into focus. Calloused hands grazed my damp cheeks, wiping away the tears. “It was just a Nightmare, Angel.” I sat up as he released my face and moved toward the edge of the bed. I looked behind him to find the chair Cassian was sitting in the night before empty and I tried to dampen my disappointment that he had left sometime after I had fallen asleep. Rhys looked to me, “Shields up, Y/N.” I jolted him and worked on building that wall around my mind as the High Lord continued, “I sent Cassian off this morning to run some errands for me. He put up a fight about before he left though.” He gave me a smile.
There was a comfort knowing that he stayed with me, but other thoughts whirled in my brain I sighed and rubbed my face, “Rhys, what happens now? Also where are we?”
“You’re in my townhome, this is where I reside normally. You were staying in what we call the House of Wind.” Rhys’ smile fades, “As for what happens next, there are two options we can take due to the fact you’re still human. The first, would be that we can send you back to the human lands and you would be able to be with your sisters.” I bit my lip as he prattled on, “Or option two, you become a member of the Night Court as my human emissary.” He grips my hand, “In my opinion, not that you asked for it, I would hope you would like to pick option 2. I would pay you well and you would be able to see Feyre every month. Not to mention, I like having you around.” I gave him a small smile and his eyes held unspoken emotion. “You remind me of someone I knew long ago, she would have loved you.” A tear slid down his perfect cheek.
I squeeze his hand, and with my free on wipe the tear from his cheek, “She must have been really special, if just mentioning her has this reaction. One day when you’re ready I would love to hear more about her.” I pause, “Especially all the reasonings as to why she would love me.” He laughed a boisterous laugh, and I was happy to take his sadness away.
When he stopped, he asked, “One day huh? Does that mean you would like to stay?”
“Yes, I would like to stay.” My stomach rumbled.
“We can discuss logistics and details on your position after we have gotten food in your stomach.” He rose. “There are clothes in the closet, Mor has already claimed you for the afternoon to go shopping.”
I quirked a brow, “So you knew I would say I wanted to stay?”
“No.” He opened the door and gave a playful smirked, “I was, however, hopeful that you would want to. Get dressed and come down to the stairs I’ll introduce you to everyone, formally.” With that he closed the door. I took a moment to look out at the window and gasped at the beauty of the city I am staring at. The sunrise coated the city in various shades of pink and orange the sun glimmering on the river as soft waves flowed down stream.
I got out of bed and discarded the nightgown I was gifted and put on the Teal sundress that had sheer sleeves and flowed down to my knees. I placed my hair up in a simple bun and walked down the stairs. Laughter erupted and I followed the sound I found a dining room that has almost every seat filled all for one that was in between Mor and Azriel. There was a short female with short black hair and mesmerizing silver eyes that rolled her eyes at the laughter and her eyes met mine. “Well, well, well, appears someone is awake.”
The laughter dies down, and all eyes turn on me and I rub the back of my neck, “Hi.” I whispered. Mor shot up and ran over to where I was and almost tackled as she wrapped me in a bone crushing hug.
“I’m so happy you’re staying with us.”  Mor squeezed causing a squeak to come out of me.
“Mor, let her go you’re going to crush her.” The low timbre of Cassian caused me to meet his gaze and he gave me a smile and a playful wink as Mor released me mumbling the word asshole under her breath. She led me to the seat next to her and I gave Azriel a smile, he simply nodded his head.
“Okay as promised, formal introductions. You know Mor, obviously,” He points to Azriel, “This is Azriel, the Night Court’s Spymaster and our very own shadowsinger,” I looked to Azriel whose shadows swirled around him as if a part of him and he puffed his chest slightly a sense of pride of his High Lord’s words. “The tiny angry looking one over there is my Second in command, Amren.” She doesn’t look phased by how she’s introduced and raises her goblet to me and takes a sip. “Last but certainly not least, the General of the Night Courts armies, Cassian. Though I believe you two have been acquainted.” My head snaps at Rhys’ who gave us both a shit eating grin.
“Sorry, Princess, I may have told them about that night we met.” My eyes met the General’s hazel ones his face had a flush on them as he smiled.
I grabbed a croissant from the platter in front of me and took a bite, and gave him a smile, “That’s alright, General.” I took another bite as two puzzle pieces clicked together and I ask, “Are you still willing to train me?” I avert my gaze and pick at the pastry.
“Any reason why I wouldn’t want to?” He asked, the table has fallen to an uncomfortable silence awaiting my answer.
Flashes of last night whirl through my head, of how I couldn’t even push the Naga away from me. Before I’m able to catch it, a tear falls then another, and sobs unleash until I can’t stop them. I cover my face and let it wrack out of my system. I feel Mor’s hand rubbing my back and can feel a talon on my mental shields of Rhys trying to get me to let him in. Then there is the scraping of the chair, sound of large boots. Mor’s touch vanishes as my chair is gently pulled back. Large hands grip my wrist and give them a light tug as the sobs continue, as I meet Cassian’s face, there was no judgement or pity, if anything there was an underlying rage there. He grips my hands tightly as if to remind me that I’m safe and that nothing would harm me. I look at the table and everyone gazes hold the same sentiment.
“Look at me, Y/N,” Cassian softly ordered, I face him once more and his thumb is rubbing soothing circles and my heartrate spikes. “I promise, I will make sure that you will never feel powerless again. You were ambushed last night; you were wounded and left out to fend for yourself, no one here thinks that you are weak because of it.” He wiped the tears from my face. “Would you like to start today?”
I nodded my head, and he gave me a beautiful grin, “Wonderful, we can get you some training gear and you can meet me outside after we eat. Okay?” I nod again, and he squeezes my hands before letting them go and instantly missed the warmth they provided.  As he stands pushes a free strand of hair from face and tucks it behind my ear, “You know what happened last night wasn’t your fault right?”
I bit my lip, “Maybe if I wasn’t so confrontational with Tamlin.”
“Don’t even finish that sentence, Girl,” Amren spoke for the first time since I entered the room, and everyone stilled. I met her gaze it was as if her irises were swirling with silver liquid, “Tamlin, is a coward and fool. He feeds off feeling superior over the weak.” Her red lips formed a smirk, “You weren’t willing to bend to him and challenged him. He simply used the one thing he had on you. The simple fact that your human. Make no mistake that Tamlin is the worm here.”
I tilted my head at her, and let her words really sink in and I blurted out, “You’re Stunning.” Heat immediately racing up my cheeks. Amren’s eyes widened a fraction as the table filled with laughter at the immediate shift in mood.
Amren smiled and tipped her head to me, “Likewise, girl, I think you’ll fit right in.”
Breakfast went on, and Rhys shared what my duties at Emissary would be, and he provided me with some fighting leathers that hugged every curve of my body. I made my way outside to find that Cassian was stretching, in his usual leathers with those gems on across his body. With the mid-day sun, he looked like one of the old gods long forgotten. He was beautiful, and the way he moved as he practiced made him lethal. His wings twitched, and his spine went rigid. He turned in my direction, “Right on time.”
I walked toward him, feeling disoriented by the heavy boots Rhys had given me. “What are these gemstones? If you don’t mind me asking.”
He smiled and I decided that I would never get tired of him smiling, his whole face lit up when he did the gesture showing genuine happiness there. “They’re called siphons they harness my power to make it easier to control. They are earned during this thing called the Blood Rite, an Illyrian tradition but I won’t bore you with the details about why we do it, or their backwards beliefs of them. Not today anyway.”
“Well, another time, I’ve never heard about Illyrians before. They are not talked about much in the history of the fae we’re taught back in the human lands.” I walk past him to where he was practicing, “I’m also a sucker for a good story.”
“Well, when I can steal you for more than an hour. You can ask me all the questions you would like.”
I crossed my arms, “Why would you have to steal me?”
Cassian quirked a brow, “You have met Mor, correct? She has not shut up about wanting to spend time with you.”
“Hmm. Well, I will need someone to show me around. Where are we exactly? As I know this is Rhys’ town home, but I’ve never seen a city as beautiful as this. Well, I’ve never really ventured far from our small cottage anyway.”
Cassian made a few strides toward me, “We’re in Velaris, the city of Starlight. I personally think it’s the heart of the Night Court.”
“I can’t wait to explore.” I was acutely aware of how close Cassian had gotten, leather and sandalwood infiltrating my nose. “So will you show me around?”
“Sure. Though you’ll break Mor’s heart.” Cassian joked and caused me to smile, “Alright, Archeron,” I turned to him and gone was the playful face is gone. Replaced with the serious gaze of a General. “Let’s get started.”
Cassian had me show him what Rhys had been teaching me and showed me some more stretches before he asked me how I would punch someone. I clenched my fist and Cassian immediately shook his head. “No, Princess, you hit someone like that you’re going to hurt yourself more than your opponent.” He came up and grabbed my hand. He opened my hand he began folding my hand where the tip of my fingers was tightly placed in the base of my palm. He then places my thumb over my index finger. “There, this will protect your fingers and give you the best chance of hurting someone instead of yourself.” He walks behind me and raises both fists and nudges my legs with his own to get me in the perfect stance my heart was racing at the mere touch and proximity of him. “Tomorrow we’ll go over exactly the best stance to throw a punch and keep your balance but standing like this,” He whispered in my ear and chills ran down my warm body. He moves my arm in a punching motion, his other hand on my waist twisting to move with the punch. He does it a few more times and after the fifth time he releases his grip and has me do those movements on my own. I could feel his eyes on me as I kept repeating the motion until he held up his hand. “Very good. I think we’ll call it for the day.”
I nodded and he walked over to hand me some water. “Thanks.” I sipped the water, and he drank some from his own cup. He grabbed my cup and placed it down with his. He pointed to the floor, “On your back, Princess.”
My face heated and I’m sure my cheeks were pink, “Why?”
Cassian smirked, “I’m going to help you stretch, its important to stretch the muscles so you’re not sore tomorrow.” He crossed his arms, “What were you thinking about?”
I huffed and followed his order to lay on my back. “I was thinking about nothing, grow up.”
Cassian knelt his hand rubbing my calf with a smirk, “I’m quite grown up, thank you. I’m over 500 years old.” My eyes widened at the fact as he bent my knee and pushed my leg toward my chest, the muscles stretched, and I bit my lip to suppress a moan.
“That feels divine.” I whisper and I hear a low chuckle as the General moved to the other leg. He met my eyes as he pushed back my leg, and I could not hold the moan this time. I covered my mouth as he placed my leg down and massaged my calves. “I’m so sorry.”
Cassian looked like he wasn’t breathing his eyes holding something like yearning there but shook his head and waved me off, “Don’t worry about it, Princess. It’s a natural reaction,” He pat my legs and rise to his feet. He holds his hand out to me, and I take it he lifts me up with ease and releases my hand. “Good job today, we’ll pick up tomorrow.”
Rhys walked outside and tucked his hands in his pockets, “Mor, sadly had to go do her job and has left for a few days. So, your shopping spree has been put on hold.” Rhys shrugged, “I could take you around, and give you a tour of the city if you would like.”
I looked to Cassian, “If you don’t mind Rhys, could your General take me?” Cassian smiled and draped an arm around my shoulders. “If you don’t mind, Cass.”
“I don’t mind,” Cassian looked at Rhys, “Do you mind if I steal her?”
Rhys smirked, “Not at all. Have fun you two.”
The two of us parted ways to bathe and change. A midnight blue top and matching pants were prepped for me as I came out of the bath, and I placed it the top on used to the slight mid drift. I placed my hair fall in its natural curls and placed it on moon pin in my hair and slipped on a pair of silver slip on shoes. I walked down to the front door to find Cassian, wearing a casual shirt with a leather jacket and pants. His wings were relaxed and tucked close behind him and his hair was in a half up bun.
He looked up as he heard my footsteps coming down the stairs, “Well you clean up nicely,” I teased elbowing him. He smiled and rolled his eyes at me.
 Cassian’s eyes lingered on my outfit and back up to my eyes. “I could say the same about you, Princess.” He opened the door, and the late afternoon breeze tickled my skin, “Ready to go?”
I nod, and he lays a hand on my back and guides me out of the front door. Once he shut the door behind me, we were off. Cassian and I walked the busy streets of Velaris. We went into various shops looking at clothes and different works of art. I stopped when we were at a vendor selling various paintings. My heart sank, Feyre had not painted in months, and I doubt after yesterday she’ll ever want to. I would do anything if it meant that she would want to paint again. If I ever see her. Calloused hands grazed my neck and brought me out of my thoughts, “Where’d you go?”
“I want Feyre to paint again,” I whispered, “She loved to paint after we came out of Under the mountain she just wouldn’t. Now with last night will I be the reason she never paints again?” I cross my arms and I walk past the paintings, “I don’t know if I could live with myself if that were the reason.”
Cassian gripped my elbow, “Y/N, Feyre has her own healing journey to take, her reasons, for doing or not doing something are her own, you don’t need to shoulder responsibility for someone else’s grief.”
I give him a small smile and give his hand a pat, “Thanks Cas, but my job was always to protect her, and I took pride in securing that small ounce of peace she would get when painting. I would sneak money just to make sure she had enough paint.” I kept walking Cassian meeting my stride his wing flared and wrapped slightly around me almost protectively. “I was like that for Nesta and Elain I always made sure anything they wanted books for Nesta or plants for Elaine, tensions were high a majority of the time, I just tried to keep the peace and made sure everyone was happy and safe.”
Cassian was quiet as we approached a bookstore, and I gripped his arm with an excited squeal, “Can we go in here?” Cassian nodded and opened the door for me, and the smell of books and a thin layer of dust fills my nose and i couldn't contain my smile. I walk up and down the aisle, looking at all the stories. Cassian was a silent yet steady presence behind me. There was a portion of the store that had various leather-bound notebooks.”
“What about you?” I turned to Cassian my brows furrowed. “Feyre has painting, Nesta reading, and Elain had gardening. What did you like to do?”
I bit my lip and shrugged, “Protecting my sisters I guess.” I grazed the top on a journal, “I never really had the time to do anything, if I wasn’t chopping wood, or helping Feyre hunt, or trying to make money. I didn’t have time for hobbies.”
Cassian frowned and guilt washed over me for taking his smile away, “If you did have the time what would you have liked to do.”
I lifted a Journal and flipped through the blank pages, “Don’t laugh.” I looked at him, “I would have loved to write. Even if I didn’t know how to write, I would have loved to tell stories. The kind of heroes and villains and romance things that Nesta would read to me when I was small.” I placed the journal down and shrugged. “Just a silly little dream.” I give him a smile one to hide the lingering sadness. “Enough about that, I’m hungry.” Cassian’s frown deepened clearly seeing my deflection.
“I’ll be out in a minute. Rhys ironically enough wanted me to see if they had a book in stock. “ I nodded my head and walked out of the store. I looked out at the river and quickly walked over and leaned against the railing to stare out at the sea. The sun is beginning to set and enjoy the scenery around me. Soft waves crashed amongst the bridge, and the scent of the water spray filled the air. It was peaceful and serene.
I was entranced by its beauty that I didn’t even hear Cassian approach, his hand on back caused me to jump and turn. “Sorry, didn’t mean to frighten you.”  He rubbed his hand on the back of his neck.
“I’m sorry for being a little jumpy. Did they have the book you needed?” I asked as he offered his arm for me to take, leading us to a little restaurant in an area he called earlier the rainbow.
Cassian shook his head, “No but I did find something else that piqued my interest.” He grabbed out of his pocket the leather-bound journal I was holding in the store and handed it to me, it felt as though the air had been sucked out of my lungs.
“Cassian-“
He interrupted me, “You may find that you have more free time here, you have worked hard to make sure your sisters were able to keep their hobbies. You should be able to explore something that interests you.” He gave you a smile “Plus I know there is one person for sure who would love to read whatever stories you come up with.”
I stopped, tears pooling in my eyes, “Cassian, I can’t repay you for this.”
Cassian also stopped, his hazel eyes warm and shining bright, “It’s a gift, Princess. Nothing to be repaid.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck, “Thank you, Cass.”
He chuckled and wrapped his arm around me. “Youre welcome, now let’s go get something to eat.” He pulled away and looped my arm with his once more and led us to dinner. At dinner he shared some stories of how he and Rhys met and how they met Azriel how they have been friends for centuries and in turn I told him of all the trouble Feyre and I used to get in before we lost our fortune and when it was over we fell into comfortable silence on the walk home.
Music played on the bridge, and it caused me to pause in my tracks. I gripped Cassian’s arms as my mind went back to late nights under the mountain.
Feyre had fallen asleep after sobbing, and I was still in the corner tears stained my face. The feeling of hopelessness taking over. I wish I had told Nesta and Elain how much I loved them before we left. I tucked my head into my knees and sobbed. Beautiful melody flooded my eardrums, something that held hope and happiness. Images flashed against in my mind of a beautiful orchestra on a bridge over river. The night sky was breathtaking as if they were swirling and dancing to the melody of the music. My eyes grew heavy as the melody hit the crescendo. I laid my head back and let the music sweep me into a peaceful slumber.
My breathing was labored, “Hey, hey, hey,” Cassian’s hand cupped my cheek, “what is it?”
“Rhys...he played this music in my head to help me sleep Under the Mountain.” Tears were streaming down my face clutching the journal Cassian bought me, “He was letting me know I wasn’t alone when I was convinced Feyre, and I weren’t coming out alive. He was showing me this band a piece of his home.”
Cassian eyes gleamed silver as well, “He’s annoyingly a good friend like that.” He looked over at the band as I chuckled, “Would you like to stay and listen for a little bit?”
“Please.” I whispered and he lowered his hand from cheek, but I reached out and laced my fingers with his. He tucked his wing around me to block the wind as we stood and listened to the music that kept me from breaking under the mountain.

Wanda Maximoff Masterlist, Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
The house smells of turkey and the holiday season as Wanda stands by the stove. She’s been cooking since the crack of dawn, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
You’ve helped with a few things, but mostly it’s been Wanda who is putting in the work. The twins run around the house and play as they wait for the company to arrive.
“No! I’m running out of time!” Wanda’s voice breaks you from your thoughts.
“It’s only 5, baby. You still have about an hour until the guests arrive,” you say.
“That’s not long enough,” she says, a sigh falling from her perfect lips. They form into a pout as she observes the work she has ahead of her.
“Well, you could use your magic,” you say.
Wanda smiles but shakes her head.
“No magic today. Just me,” she says.
“You are magic no matter what, my love,” you tell her.
You stand up from your chair and hug Wanda from behind. She sinks into your touch. Dropping a kiss to her cheek, you make her feel relaxed even if for just a moment.
“Tell you what,” you begin. “I’ll get the rowdy boys to set the table and I’ll help you do anything you need. We can do this.”
“We can do this,” Wanda repeats though she’s not sure she believes it.
You kiss her cheek once more for good measure and then you go find the boys. They’re in their room playing Mario Kart.
“Hey guys,” you say. “How about we pause the game and go help Mom get ready for the guests?”
“Okay!” Billy answers easily. He’d do anything for his mom.
“Can we finish this level?” Tommy asks.
“Later, buddy,” you say.
“Okay,” he says, a slight sigh in his voice. He pouts like Wanda does.
“I have a super secret task for the two of you,” you tell them before you leave the bedroom.
“What is it?” Tommy asks.
“Today is Thanksgiving, which means that you tell people that you’re thankful for them. I got your mom a card and I was thinking you two could write a sweet note in it for her. What do you think?”
“Yes!” They both agree. Anything for Wanda.
You smile and lead them to the home office where they work on the card. You leave them to go back and help Wanda. Once they’re done, they come downstairs and set the table.
Wanda was right about timing being close, but you manage to have everything cooked and ready to serve at exactly 6 o’clock.
“We did it!” Wanda says excitedly.
“You did it, babe. All you,” you say.
Wanda smiles softly and places a soft kiss to your lips. The boys feign disgust. Soon, the doorbell rings.
She answers the door and lets guests inside one by one. Steve is first with Natasha, Maria, Tony, Sam, and Bucky not far behind. You remember meeting them all at the boys birthday party, but it’s so nice to see them again.
Everyone gathers around the table and begins to eat Wanda’s wonderful food.
“This is amazing, Wanda,” Steve compliments.
“Yeah, great job, Wanda. Reminds me of home,” Sam says.
Wanda smiles shyly and tries to share the credit.
“No, this is all her. I can cook, but not like this. She’s like professional level good,” you say. Everyone nods in agreement.
“So, how’s everything going?” Maria asks Wanda.
You know what she’s referring to. After Wanda and Vision split up, the woman has gone through a hard time with the divorce and now child custody hearings. You’ve been the bright spot in all of it.
“It’s good,” Wanda says. “I didn’t know going to court would be so expensive but it’s almost over.”
“I’d sue his ass for what he’s put you through,” Natasha jumps in. Maria nudges her shoulder but she only shrugs.
You shoot her a smile and she returns a smirk.
“How about we just talk about what we’re thankful for?” Steve, ever the peacemaker, tries to change the subject.
“Great idea,” you agree. “I’ll go first. I’m thankful for Wanda and her wonderful children and friends.”
Wanda smiles and kisses your cheek at your words. You hold her hand under the table. You’ve become her everything over these last few months.
Wanda speaks next. “I’m thankful for friends who have become family, for my precious babies, and for y/n who is truly my best friend.”
Everyone goes around and continues to share what they’re thankful for. Love and laughter fills the air as the hours pass by. After dessert and socializing, the guests go home.
Wanda is in the kitchen running a sink of dishes when you stop her.
“Come with me,” you say, pulling her softly.
“But the dishes, baby. They won’t do themselves,” she tries.
You keep walking and lead Wanda to the living room. The boys are there with Wanda’s card in hand.
“We got you this, Mommy,” Billy says, handing her the card.
“Oh, thank you, baby,” Wanda says. She sits between the two boys. She opens the card and tears fill her eyes.
“We all signed it to say we’re thankful for you,” Tommy explains.
“Wow,” Wanda says softly. “This is so sweet. I’m so thankful for you guys too.”
Wanda kisses them both on the forehead as they lean into her. She reaches out to you too and you join the snuggle pile.
“Can we finish our level before bedtime?” Tommy asks after a moment.
“Yeah go ahead boys. Mom and I will be up to tuck you in soon,” you tell them. They hug you both before running up the stairs.
Wanda tries to get up but you pull her gently back onto the couch. She lands on your lap and you grin at her.
“Thank you for the card,” Wanda says.
“That was from the boys,” you say.
“Mhm. I know you were the mastermind,” she says. “I should really clean up dinner.”
“Nope.”
“What do you mean nope?” Wanda asks.
“You, my dear, did all the cooking so I will do all of the cleaning,” you say. “I’ll pour you some wine and you just get to relax, okay?”
You don’t give her a chance to say no. Instead, you kiss her and get up to start cleaning. Wanda sits at the counter and watches you. After a bit, you tuck the boys into bed and finish up cleaning.
“How about a bath?” You ask Wanda, leaning over the counter in a way you know draws her eyes to your chest.
“Only if you’ll join me,” she replies, pressing a kiss to your lips.
“Yes please,” you say.
You go to the bathroom together and run the water. Wanda slips off her clothes first and slides into the warm water. You join her and settle in behind her.
She rests her head on your shoulder as you softly run your hands over her body.
“Thank you for today,” Wanda says.
“You did the hard part.”
“No, I mean- you didn’t have to clean up or give me a card or anything,” Wanda explains.
“Oh,” you say. “I just thought you’d like it.”
“I did. I loved it,” Wanda rushes to say. “It’s just- no one’s ever done that for me before. It’s new.”
“You deserve it, Wands. Everything doesn’t have to fall on you. And you deserve to hear how thankful we all are for you,” you say.
“Hmm,” Wanda hums. She turns her head to look into your eyes. “I really love you.”
“I really love you too, Wanda Maximoff.”
She leans up and kisses you. You deepen the kiss and let your hand slip between her legs. Wanda gasps at the feeling.
“Just relax, baby. I’ll take care of you,” you say.
She lets herself relax against you as you move your fingers through her folds. Wanda lets out the sweetest sounds with every stroke. You slip fully into her easily and make quick work of getting her to her high.
“That’s it, sweetheart. Let go,” you say softly as she comes against your fingers.
Wanda’s eyes remain closed in pleasure as you simply hold her against you. She stays there until the water gets too cold and you have to get out.
You get dressed in warm pajamas and snuggle into bed next to each other. Wanda clings to you.
“I’m so thankful for you,” Wanda says as her eyes droop closed from exhaustion and relaxation.
“I’m thankful for you too, Wanda. I always will be,” you tell her.
With one more shared kiss, you two fall into a deep slumber that lasts until morning.
Wanda has never been so happy and that’s all thanks to you.

“This week’s case my fine furry friends, you are all heading to Oregon. The homeland of the one and only (Y/N).” Penelope said, pointing the bippy at you. You give a small smile, not having the heart to tell her you were hoping to keep that particular cat in the bag. “So this unsub is targeting unsavory individuals, first, this man. Robert Davis, 42, father of three. Total slime ball, an abusive drunk who is particularly fond of driving under the influence.”
You all looked at the photos now on the board. “Now, up next, same thing. Derek Harris. Father, this time 53, abusive, drinks on occasion.”
“Okay, so he’s got a type.”
“How long between victims?”
“Only four days.”
“How long does he keep them alive?”
“Only a few hours, before he dumps them on the door of their house.”
“He dumps the bodies at their house?” You asked, frowning.
“Why?”
“It’s like a gift.” You theorised, “I know what he was doing so I took revenge for you.”
“Some gift.” Prentiss said, turning back to the file.
Not long after, you were all on the jet on your way to Oregon. The briefing didn’t take long, just a few rough ideas exchanged and Morgan asking if you were excited to go home, you were not.
“Hotchner.” Hotch answered the phone before the end of the second ring. “You’re sure? Okay. We’ll make sure to send some agents there when we land. It’s alright, I’ll let him know. Thank you.” And with that, Hotch hung up again.
The air was a little tense, to say the least. “Another body turned up?” Rossi asked. Hotch just gave a nod.
“Already?” Reid’s eyebrows furrowed. You watched your boss closely for a few seconds.
“It’s him, isn’t it?” Is all you ask.
“Yes.” Is his response. “The ME just identified him.”
“Who found him?”
“(Y/N)…”
“Hotch, who found him?”
“Your brother.”
You sighed, looking away. “He okay?”
“He’s alright. Paramedics checked him over, he’s at the station waiting for us to land.”
You give a small nod. “He’s okay?”
“He’s okay.” Hotch said, voice a little more gentle now. The team watched you cautiously, all concerned.
“Who was the latest victim?” Reid asked, frowning slightly.
“Er, Lee (L/N).”
“(L/N)?” Morgan asked, turning to face you.
“My dad.” You gave a small nod.
“Which means we’re going to have to dive into your life,” Hotch explained, his face was his usual stern expression, but you could see the understanding in his eyes.
“I know.” You gave a small sigh. “I was arrested for assault when I was eighteen - I just broke his nose. No charges were pressed or anything.”
“What happened?” JJ asked.
“Er, I saw him hit my brother.” You gave a small nod. “And he didn’t press charges on the condition I moved out. So, I moved out. I tried fighting for custody but with that arrest, the courts weren’t having it.”
“They wouldn’t let you have custody?”
“Nope, not even with our medical records.” You gave an awkward shrug, “I tried multiple times, Declan ended up in the hospital once or twice. I lived in a small town, and everyone just… turned a blind eye to it.”
“That’s horrible…” JJ said. “They turned a blind eye? Just like that?”
“Yep. And then after the second custody battle and I was doing a food shop and I saw my dad hit Declan again. That time, I landed my dad in hospital.”
You were silent for the rest of the ride, preferring to sit inside your own head than interact with the outside world.
As soon as the jet landed, you, Spencer, and Hotch headed to the police station, the others dividing themselves between the different crime scenes. You follow the secretary’s vague motion to a room at the back of the station. It takes you thirty seconds after to realise she was in your grade in school. You purposefully ignored that and gave the door a light knock before opening the door.
“Declan…” You had prepared for the worst. You were expecting him to hate you, you had left the day you turned eighteen. Granted, it wasn’t exactly a voluntary leave, but you still left.
“(Y/N),” Declan looks up, smiling a little when he sees you. His eyes are bloodshot.
“Hey.” You said softly, "How are you feeling?"
Declan gives a small shrug and you give a quiet sigh, taking a seat next to him on the couch. "Come here," You said, opening your arms. He stares at you for a moment before letting himself lean against you.
You wait until you've both calmed down before speaking again. “We need to talk, kid…”
“I know.” Declan gave a small tight lipped smile. You sit down next to him, sighing slightly as you did. “They don’t think you’re involved, do they?”
“Nah, I’ve got an alibi I cleared with my boss.”
Declan nods, “Good. So I’m assuming your team know?”
“Yep.” You sighed, turning to face him. “Look, Declan-”
“You don’t need to apologise.”
“Yes, I do. I left.”
The teen rolled his eyes, “You’re actually thick. You didn’t leave, dad basically kicked you out.”
“I should have fought to stay.” You argued.
“Yeah, and he would have killed you.” He said. “Besides, I was fine.”
“Were you?”
“Yeah. Most of the time dad was too caught up in his drinking to care.” Declan gave a small shrug. “So… what’s going to happen to me?”
“Well, if you want, I’ve got a spare room that I could let you have. I suppose.” You said, a small smile tugging at your lips.
“Yeah, I guess. If I had too.” Declan grinned slightly.
“Sounds good.” You gave a nod, “We can sort everything else out later. And, if you want - since our house is sort of a crime scene, you can bunk in my hotel room.”
“Perfect, free hotel room.” Declan smirked.
“Yeah, yeah.” You rolled your eyes. “I gotta go talk to my team, you okay in here?”
“Yes, old man. I’m fine.”
You placed a hand on your chest dramatically as you left.
“Everything okay?” Hotch asked.
“Yeah. I think so.” You said, giving your boss a small smile. “As well as it can be right now, anyway.”
“He seems resilient.”
“He is.” You gave a small nod. “You don’t mind if I stay for a while after the case to sort everything up here out, do you?”
Hotch shook his head, “Not at all. Take all the time you need.”

Bound by Duty
Summary: Y/n is a Spring Court fae who’s loyal to Tamlin. Once she’s allowed to visit Feyre, she starts developing feelings for Cassian. But their love was never meant to be…
A/N: y/f/f = your favorite flower.
Warnings: angst, mention of abuse toward the end, Y/n being in denial about it.
Word Count: 3.1 K.
You can read part 2/alternative ending here.
The Spring Court had always been a place of comfort, beauty and peace. But lately, it felt suffocating. When Feyre came into your lives, she ignited something in Tamlin, and you grew to become close friends. With her gone, it felt empty, especially with Tamlin throwing fits of rage and being his broody self.
Before Feyre came into his life, you had been his source of joy amidst the curse and all. He had saved your life, and ever since, you stayed by his side, never refusing him a request. After Feyre left, you grew apart- or rather, he did.
“What’s wrong?” his voice cut through your thoughts, pulling you back to the present. You blinked, almost forgetting that the two of you were eating dinner until he spoke. His brow was furrowed, concern flickering in his green eyes.
“Nothing” you lied, forcing a smile to your lips, though it felt strained.
“Don’t lie to me” he said, his voice growing firmer as he set his fork down, leaning closer. His eyes narrowed slightly as they searched your face “I know you. Something is bothering you”.
“What makes you think that?” you mumbled, your fingers idly playing with the food on your plate, unable to meet his eyes.
“You used to be full of life- happy. Now, you rarely even smile” he said, his expression softening, a flicker of something vulnerable flashing across his face.
“Oh! I hadn‘t realized that” you responded, blinking in surprise. You hadn’t noticed the change yourself, too distracted by everything weighing on your mind.
“Well?” He pressed, his eyes never leaving yours “What’s going on with you?”.
“You don’t have to worry about me. I’ll sort it out” you gave him another fake smile.
“There you go again, pretending that everything is fine when it’s not. Now, tell me what’s wrong”.
You sighed deeply, trying to keep your voice steady as you looked down at your lap “I don’t want to upset you”.
“You already have by not telling me”.
“Fine… I miss Feyre. I wish I could just visit her” you didn’t mean to say the last sentence- at least not out loud.
“Oh” you could see the pain on his face. He was silent for a moment, thinking about something. “If you wish to see her, you can go. You’re not my prisoner, Y/n. You may do as you please”. One look into his eyes and you could tell that he was afraid that you’d leave him too.
“I know that, but I don’t want to leave you. You come first” you said softly, your voice soothing as you reached out and gently placed your hand on his.
“Do you mean it?” he asked, his voice betraying his surprise.
“Of course. Tamlin, you saved my life. I’m indebted to you, and I’ll forever be grateful to you. I won’t go if you don’t want me to”.
“If it’ll make you happy, go! You have my blessing” he murmured, though his expression remained conflicted.
“Thank you” you said, offering him a genuine smile this time, one that felt real as your heart lightened.
—
Stepping into the Night Court felt like stepping into an entirely new world. You hadn’t left the Spring Court in years, and anxiety prickled at your skin. Not only were you nervous about traveling alone, but you’d heard stories about the Fae who lived here.
You had sent Feyre a word of your arrival and she informed you that one of her most trusted men would be there to pick you up.
Just as you looked up at the sky, a massive male with wings descended gracefully, his broad shoulders and muscular build making him appear more imposing. He was handsome- strikingly so- and you found yourself momentarily speechless.
“Are you Y/n?” he asked, his voice deep yet calm, though he raised an eyebrow at your wide-eyed stare.
“I- uh, yes, I am” you stammered, cheeks flushing with embarrassment as you realized you’d been staring.
“Cassian” he introduced himself, extending his hand to you with a charming grin. “Nice to meet you” When you didn’t immediately react, his expression shifted to confusion “Are you alright?”
“Sorry” you quickly shook his hand, feeling the strength in his grip as warmth flooded your cheeks again. “I’m just nervous. This is my first time traveling alone”.
He chuckled “That’s alright. Come on, let’s go” he said, extending his hand once more, this time to help you as he prepared to take flight.
You hesitated for only a moment, before placing your hand in his, feeling the calluses of a warrior on his palm. His wings stretched wide as he effortlessly lifted you into the sky.
Arriving at the House of Wind, you saa Feyre waiting with the rest of the Inner Circle. Your heart lightened at the sight of your friend, but as you approached, a winged male with a more intimidating presence stepped in front of her, his gaze sharp.
“Az, that’s not necessary” Feyre said, stepping past him and wrapping her arms around you in a warm hug.
“She could be a spy for all we know” Rhysand added, his tone casual, yet assessing.
“You promised me you’d behave” Feyre turned and gave her mate a pointed look.
“I- I’m not, I’m not a spy” you stammered, your voice faltering as you tried to defend yourself, feeling your cheeks flush under Rhysand’s scrutiny.
Feyre smiled warmly at you “It’s alright, don’t worry about them. They can be mean to strangers sometimes” she reassured you, her hand gently squeezing yours.
“Hey, not all of us” Cassian chimed in with a playful grin, earning an eye roll from Feyre.
“Are you joining us for dinner, my lady?” Cassian asked, his voice carrying a teasing lilt as his eyes flicked to yours.
“I- uhm” you looked at Feyre, uncertain if you were welcome to stay that long.
“Of course she is. You are, right? You’ve come a long way, you must stay the night” Feyre insisted.
“I-” you wanted to object but seeing Feyre all hopeful, you relented “alright, but I have to leave early in the morning”.
—
While most of the IC remained distant, Feyre and, surprisingly, Cassian were friendly, making you feel more comfortable. Cassian in particular seemed genuinely interested in what you had to say.
“Even if relations weren’t strained, I would not be able to enjoy the Spring Court” Cassian remarked, his tone casual as he leaned back in his chair.
You turned to him, a slight frown tugging at your lips “Oh! And why is that?”
“I have an allergy” he admitted with a half-smile, causing Feyre to chuckle softly.
“That must be horrible… you must really hate flowers, then?” You asked, eyebrows raised in curiosity.
He shrugged with a small grin “I don’t hate them. I just can’t be near them. I do enjoy observing them, though. There’s something about appreciating beauty that you can never have”.
“Since when are you a poet?” Rhys teased, earning a sharp glare from Cassian.
Cassian tried to quickly divert your attention “What’s your favorite flower?”
“Uhm, I do like many flowers. After all, they’re unique in their own way. But if I must choose, then y/f/f. What about you?”.
Cassian grinned awkwardly “Me? My favorite flower is also y/f/f. What a coincidence!” he chuckled, clearly lying but trying to play it off.
The evening continued pleasantly, and talking to Cassian made you forget about the tension and your worries. You didn’t want the night to end, but eventually it had to.
Cassian volunteered to escort you to the quarters you were staying in for the night. As the two of you walked down the dimly lit hallway, the air between you shifted. Silence hung heavy for longer than you had hoped, the only sounds being your footsteps echoing in the corridor.
Cassian glanced sideways at you, his lips parting slightly before he finally broke the silence “Will you be coming back soon?”
You hesitated, lowering your gaze to the floor as you walked“Oh, I don’t know. Your friends didn’t seem too keen on having me here.”
Cassian gently bumped your shoulder with his “Don’t worry about them. They’ll come around. Besides, Feyre was happy to see you… and I was glad to meet you” he admitted, his voice growing quieter at the last part.
You finally looked up, meeting his gaze “Really? You don’t think I’m Tamlin’s spy? Here to tell him everything about you?” you teased.
He chuckled lightly, shaking his head “No, Y/n. I don’t believe you’re a spy” he said softly, a subtle, almost shy smile playing on his lips.
You sighed, your smile fading as you reminded him “I still have my duties, just like you have yours.”
Cassian’s expression tightened briefly, his brow furrowing as he spoke again “Of course. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to push you” his hand twitched at his side, as though he wanted to reach for you but stopped himself.
“No, no. It’s fine. I’d like to come back soon” you reassured him quickly, offering a soft smile in return.
Cassian’s face brightened at your words, his eyes gleaming with hope “And I’d love that very much”.
“I believe this is my room” you averted his gaze again.
“Right, yes. Yes, it is. I bid you goodnight” he stepped back slightly, clearing his throat.
“Goodnight, Cassian” you whispered, lingering for a moment before closing the door behind you. As it clicked shut, you felt a spark ignite your heart, an unfamiliar lingering in your chest.
—
It had been a while since your last visit, and when Cassian heard you were coming, he couldn’t hide his excitement.
This time, Rhys insisted on picking you up, leaving Cassian a little disappointed. He paced the living area of the House of Wind, his wings twitching with nervous energy as he impatiently awaited your arrival. Every minute that passed seemed like an eternity.
“They’re taking too long, don’t you think?” Cassian turned abruptly to Azriel, who leaned casually against the doorway, arms crossed over his chest, watching his brother with a knowing smirk.
“Relax, Cassian. They’ll be here any minute now. What has gotten into you?” Azriel smirked, knowing exactly why his brother was behaving this way, yet he decided to tease him.
Cassian huffed, running a hand through his hair in frustration “Nothing. I- I- it just, you know how Rhys can be. What if he threatened her and she decided to go back?” his voice held a slight edge of panic as he considered every possible worst-case scenario.
“You worry too much, brother. I don’t think Rhys is going to threaten her. After all, she is Feyre’s friend. He’ll treat her as such… but with caution, of course. She does work for Tamlin” Azriel reminded.
Just then, you stepped into the room, awkwardly waving, with Rhysand close behind you “Hey.” Cassian’s heart skipped a beat at the sight of you and he found himself staring.
Azriel gave a polite nod, while Cassian blinked, finally snapping out of his daze.
“It’s been a while” you said with a smile, trying to ease the tension.
“Far too long” Cassian replied quickly, his words coming out in a rush. “I- I mean Feyre missed you. She wondered when you’d be back”.
“Was it Feyre or you, Cassian? Because I do recall you asking her every day if Y/n was coming soon” Rhys exposed him and you chuckled.
Cassian’s face flushed, and he stammered “I- it’s- I” He couldn’t find an excuse fast enough.
“I have something for you” you approached him and offered him y/f/f in a glass container “this way you can have it without your allergy acting up”.
Cassian’s eyes widened in surprise, his cheeks turning a deeper shade of red “You actually brought me y/f/f. This is brilliant. Thank you” he said, his voice flustered as he took the gift, holding it like it was the most precious thing he’d ever received.
Rhys, ever the instigator, smirked again “I believe this is the first time I’ve seen you blush, Cas”.
“Shut up. You’re just jealous you didn’t get a flower” Cassian shot back with a playful shrug. You shook your head, smiling to yourself. For scary males, they certainly acted like children. It was not what you imagined at all.
Time passed, and your visits to the Night Court became more frequent. What began as excuses to see Feyre evolved into something else- you found yourself coming back for Cassian. You timed your visits for moments you knew Feyre would be busy, relishing the chance to spend more time alone with him. Your friendship deepened, but neither of you dared to speak of the feelings that lingered beneath the surface.
This all changed one day, as the two of you strolled by the riverbank. Cassian noticed something different about you- your usual joy was absent, and the weight of something unsaid hung in the air.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, stopping in his tracks.
You stiffened at his question, turning your face away to avoid his gaze “Why would you think anything is wrong?” you snapped defensively.
Cassian’s expression softened with concern. He placed hus hands gently on your upper arms, forcing you to stop walking. His grip was light but steady as he tilted his head down to meet your eyes. “We’ve known each other for almost a year now. I think I know when something is bothering you” he said quietly, his voice laced with tenderness.
You winced at his touch, the sudden sound not going unnoticed. Cassian’s eyes narrowed as he lowered his gaze to your arm, his fingers brushing against the fabric of your sleeve “Y/n, what is wrong?” his eyes began scanning your body, searching for any sign of injury.
“It- it’s nothing. Let’s just go” you stammered, stepping back slightly. You knew that if he found out, this wasn’t going to end well.
“No. Stop, please. Come on, tell me what’s wrong. Don't shut me out” he begged, his eyes searching yours for any clue.
“It really is nothing. I just bumped into the wall” you lied and knew he wouldn’t believe it.
Cassian’s jaw clenched as he raised his hand toward the top of your sleeve, fingers lightly grazing your shoulder. “May I?” he asked, his voice gentle, but his eyes filled with a fierce protectiveness. You nodded reluctantly, and he carefully lowered the fabric, revealing the dark bruise on your upper arm.
“Y/n, this isn’t from bumping into a wall, is it?” his voice was dangerously calm.
“Let it be, Cassian.” You whispered, pulling your sleeve back up as you turned away.
“This is Tamlin’s work, isn’t it?” his voice trembled with barely restrained fury, and you could see him struggling to keep his emotions in check.
You sighed, unable to deny it. “And what if it was?”
Cassian’s nostrils flared, his jaw clenching so tightly you could almost hear the grind of his teeth “That fucking monster. I’m going to kill him” he hissed, his wings twitching in agitation behind him.
You immediately stepped forward, placing a hand on his chest to stop him. “You can’t!”
“Give me one good reason I shouldn’t”.
“I owe him my life” you said quietly, your voice barely above a whisper.
“Not anymore, you don’t. Not after what he’s done to you. Not after you’ve endured all these years by his side.”
Your throat tightened, and you shook your head, trying to make him understand “You don’t understand. Tamlin is not the monster you think he is. He didn’t do it on purpose, alright? He had one of his outbursts, a moment of rage. He didn’t mean to hurt me.”
“Now you’re finding excuses for him? He doesn’t deserve your love and kindness.” He reached out, his hand cupping your cheek gently.
You closed your eyes, leaning into his touch just for a moment before pulling away “That is for me to decide.”
“You can’t see it, can you? He is abusive. Look at what he did to Feyre. What he’s done to you. You say it was an accident, but what happens next time? What happens the next time he loses control? He needs to be stopped”.
“Please, you can’t go” you begged again, your voice breaking. You placed a hand on his arm, feeling the tension in his muscles.
“Why not?”
“You will disrupt the peace between the courts.”
“To hell with peace. I don’t care about any of that. He.Hurt.You.”
You reached up, cupping his face to calm him “Please, Cassian. If you're not going to do it for peace, then for my sake.”
Cassian’s eyes fluttered closed as he leaned into your touch, his shoulders sagging slightly Z the weight of his anger began to subside. He placed his hand over yours, holding it against his cheek as he exhaled slowly. “Alright, I won’t do anything. But you can’t go back to him.”
You shook your head slowly, knowing this was the moment you had been dreading “I have to.” You pulled your hand away from his cheek, stepping back.
Cassian reached for you instinctively, his hand grasping your arm gently as if to stop you “No, please don’t.”
You swallowed hard, the tears finally spilling over as you stood on your tiptoes and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. The world seemed to stop as his breath hitched, and his hands slid around your waist, pulling you closer. He kissed you back, his lips warm and tender against yours. One of his hands moved to the back of your neck, fingers threading through your hair as he deepened the kiss, as if trying to hold onto this moment for as long as he could.
When you finally pulled away, his forehead rested against yours, his breath mingling with yours. “Please stay” he whispered against your lips, his voice raw with emotion.
You closed your eyes, wanting nothing more than to say yes, but knowing you could ‘t. “I can’t.” You whispered, stepping back. His hands lingered on your waist before finally falling to his sides. “I must leave. I think it’s a good idea that I don’t visit for a while” you said, your heart breaking with every word.
“What? No, no. If it is because of what I said, then I’m sorry. I just-”.
You placed a hand on his cheek again, cutting him off gently. “Hey, it has nothing to do with you… I’ve been spending a lot of time here lately, that I’ve neglected my duties back home.” This was one way of saying it. The truth was, Tamlin started to get jealous that you were spending more time with Feyre at the Night Court. He felt left out and that triggered his fit of rage. But of course, you couldn’t tell Cassian that. So the best thing to do was to stop your visits for a while…or forever.

hi!! and here i am again, asking for the same thing, but I just love it so much and-
can we have more of ghost and his adopted daughters? 👀
(Spins dramatically in chair) yes. Because I have been thinking about it.
Adoptive dad!Simon, who really didn’t think of himself as the ‘daddy-daughter date type’ until Macey
Or more of until she randomly mentioned it during dinner.
“It-it’s weird ya know?” She mumbled as she picked at the food on her plate, “Jane said it-it was-It’s stupid. So so stupid.”
So, like any sane person, he made it his mission.
Now he knows Macey, or he knows her enough, she doesn’t want a little dinner and movie (quality time in that sense)
Nor would she want to get ‘dolled up’
What she would want was a trip to the local skate shop and get some new shoes, and the sporting goods store for some new gear
So, when he picked her up he gave her a crooked smile which she seemed taken back by-
“Is Miss Riley okay? What happened?” Macey was quiet as she buckled herself into the car and she sinks into the cushion.
Simon shakes his head, changing the gear, “Thought ya might wanna go by tha’ place you like on third? Then we might get some dinner fore’ goin to the skate park, yeah?”
He would let her pick everything out, and even if she told him to not get anything- oops he already bought it
And yes, he did let her teach him how to skateboard-and yes, he did bite the dust at least two times before
Now- Macey is his girl and Taylor- she’s his princess
Taylor is basically stuck to his hip, she clings to him like a she has Velcro or something
It’s a sight to see too, especially when he’s in his gear (and darn that was a woozy to calm those two down the first time they saw him in that gear- sobbing for hours) and her with her bright pink dress and pigtails each with mismatching bows she picked out
Unlike Macey, Taylor went straight to calling him dad after a week and a half
“Daddy can we go to the ice cream store?”
“Ice cream store? Ya mean the frozen yogurt place?”
“Noooo!! Yogurt yuck, ice cream!”
Macey? It’s on and off, sometimes on the days where she’s really relaxed it’ll slip out, which it was obvious by her reaction that it was an accident
She would stiffen and her posture would all of a sudden straighten
And obviously he gets it, it’s not like she has to- but he does have to hide his smile whenever it does happen (and yes, he does full on smile- a bit crooked due to the scarring around there but nonetheless)
On that!! The girls quickly realized that the ‘scowl’ they were getting was actually a smile that was altered to a nasty scar running down the face
Taylor uses colored markers to color in his tattoos, will sit for hours, even did it during the final adoption court
(Annnnnyway that’s all I got for right now! Comments, feedback and all that jazz mean so so so much! <33)

Part two of my kill for hire reader?!?!?! Like the brothers all court her? Different endings on who she chooses?!?!?!
Go for the Kill
Prior notes: @eemr1000 @livingdeadgirly @k3ythesapphic COME GET YOUR FOOD BEFORE THE MOLES GET IT. Tbh I struggled a little but i think I did okay.
Pairing: Lin Kuei Bros x Afab reader
Warnings ‼️: Just get inside!
Tumblr media
You made quite a reputation for yourself. You have been most useful to Lord Liu Kang. Thanks to the help of the Lin Kuei your skills have grown substantially. And look at that, you made three new friends as well. Well, they want to be more than just friends.
It didn’t take long for the brothers to recognize that they all liked you for their own reasons. Bi-Han liked how deceitful you can be just to get the job done. Kuai Liang applauds your tactics and finds your intelligence to be quite attractive. Tomas saw your huge potential and finding out you are actually sweet drew him in.
Yes, yes, you certainly have a nice set of bachelors just waiting to nab you for themselves. But, uh, who are you gonna pick?
I mean they haven’t even asked you out yet. You’ve been busy with more killing assignments so they haven’t gotten the chance to have you alone. It’s fine, it gives them plenty of time to think and prepare a way to court you. They have their own ways, it just depends who gets to you first.
You get back to the Lin Kuei temple after another successful killing. You’re a bit tired and just want to settle down for the night but you can already hear all three of them making their way towards you. Well, now it’s just one since Bi-Han decided he gets to see you first. It wasn’t a mutual decision he just pushed his brothers out of the way.
“I see you are successful once again. I do not expect anything less from you.” He compliments you as if you haven’t been killing for who knows how long. You noticed he grabbed onto your hand, ready to drag you away from everyone else.
“It is incredible how perfect you still look. You look like you barely broke a sweat.” Now Kuai Liang was coming in. He grabbed your other hand with the same intent Bi-Han has.
“You must be tired after that assignment. Maybe you should relax for a little. I can help you.” Who do you think just snuck up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist? That’s right, Tomas.
You could feel tension in the air building up as you looked at all three brothers. They weren’t looking at you but they were glaring at each other. Something’s off but you can’t tell.
“Come with me, I have something important to discuss with you.” Bi-Han spoke.
“Whatever you have to say, brother, can wait. I have something important to tell her as well.” Then Kuai Liang spoke.
“I have something just as important to say to her.” Tomas pitched in.
“Why don’t you all just tell me what you want to say.” You were snappy since you were tired.
There was silence. They were unsure about confessing right now. But if it has to be done, so be it. Bi-Han will go first obviously. He pulled you in close, glared at his brothers, then looked down at you with a less cold look.
“Ever since the first time I saw you kill that fool, I knew you were the perfect woman for me. Skilled, precise, vicious even. You belong next to a grandmaster like me. I would hate for some incompetent fool to have their hands on you and ruin a perfectly good woman like yourself.”
To be honest, you were shocked. Did Bi-Han really have his eyes on you this whole time? You would have never guessed.
I mean it’s not like he deliberately made time to train you every time you were at the temple. It’s not like you caught him giving you that devilish smirk whenever he watch you kill someone else in your own devious way. And when you asked everyone else if he has ever smiled at them that way they all thought you were mad. Cause when the fuck does Bi-Han ever smile. There was never even a twitch in his lips at anything enjoyable other than you. Alright so there were signs you just didn’t think too much into it.
Now it was Kuai Liang’s turn. He yanked you away from his brother and held you close. He looked at you more warmly and a less cold expression overall.
“Your beauty and intellect has awed me. I have never met a woman with your skills. You are a rare kind of person that I would hate to let go of. My desire for you burns brighter and hotter than the fire I produce.”
Kuai Liang’s words were sweet. You believed him since he was always such a gentleman to you. He always complimented and applaud you for your plans. Your ways of execution were unlike anything he has seen. You always appreciated that you felt equal to him. He never held back when you two would practice which helps make sure you were always at your best.
Don’t forget about Tomas. He pulled you in by your waist. His head rested on your shoulder, just appreciating your presence before confessing.
“It’s been so long since I’ve seen someone with such skills that could rival a hunter. Not even in my homeland did I see many like you. I see so much potential in you and I want to be next to you as you develop your skills further. No one could rival you.”
You always heard Tomas cheer you on. He wanted to know your tricks and you would happily share them with him. You two had a closeness that came from your sneaky skills. He was great to practice with when preparing for your next assignments, except you wouldn’t actually kill him of course. You appreciated that he saw that you were actually sweet and never questioned if you were just putting up a persona or not. He wasn’t afraid of hearing that sweet voice of yours and think that you were about to poison him.
He let you go and now they were all looking at you. It’s your call. Whoever you will pick will have you for himself. Now pick. Who will you be with?
Bi-Han
(So…this is your choice)
You walked up to Bi-Han. You had your eyes on Bi-Han for some time. He is strong, he helped you better your skills, he’s got a handsome face, and a voice that sends shivers down your spine. Clearly, you’re digging him too.
That devilish smirk came back. In his mind you made the right decision. A woman like you is fit for a grandmaster. Your devious tactics combined with his high title is a great combo.
You didn’t even have to verbally say yes to him he took your approach to him as the answer. Unexpectedly, he picked you up and threw you over his shoulder.
Well he can’t have you in front of his brothers since they wanted you just as badly. You didn’t know where he was taking you but you recognized soon that he took you to his office. Just for extra measures since the locks apparently aren’t good enough, he froze the door handle. Now no one could get in and no one can get out.
Bi-Han wiped all the papers off the desk before placing you down on it. He leaned his body against yours to the point he pushed you onto your back. You heard a little hum of desire before he spoke up.
“Finally, we are alone. I have you all to myself.”
Kuai Liang
(Is this correct, reader?)
You walked up to Kuai Liang. You need a gentleman like Kuai Liang. Not just that but his body drew you in. So warm and well built. All those times he would pin you down during practice made you fall for him hard. Even his serious expression was attractive to you.
You made Kuai Liang a happy man today. A lovely lady like you is something he has dreamed of. One that is just as tough and precise when plan making as he is.
“You have quite a way with words, Kuai Liang. I can tell it came deep from your heart.” You commented as you placed your hand on his chest.
He looked at you so lovingly. In your heart you felt like you made a good choice. He held your face as he leaned in to place a kiss on your forehead. The kiss felt hot. His desire truly does burn hot.
You heard a groan come from Bi-Han. At least Tomas can act happy for his brother. Kuai Liang will surely get shit for this from his brother. But it doesn’t matter. He has you and he couldn’t be more happy.
“Do not worry about him. He is just upset that I have a beauty like you in my arms now.”
Tomas
(Your eyes see true)
You walked up to Tomas. You want someone who sees so much in you. To hear that you remind him of his homeland made your heart melt. You never heard something so sweet.
Tomas was ecstatic. Being picked is such a wonderful feeling. He picked you up in his strong arms and twirled you around as if you were a princess. Hey, I bet he would give you that princess treatment you deserve.
You giggled as he placed kisses all over your face. His beautiful huntress. All his.
Of course Bi-Han groaned and wanted to start a fight with Tomas. For once, Tomas would not let his brother get in the way of his happiness. He threw a smoke bomb in Bi-Han’s direction which made him go into a coughing fit. At least Kuai Liang was happy that his brother found love, and that he didn’t get hit with a smoke bomb. He turned his attention back to you again.
“Perhaps we should go somewhere more private, my dearest.”
Bonus: All of them
(I’m the writer I get to have a say!)
“Well, you clearly all like me. Why not I just date all of you.” You said it so casually.
You stumped them all. It wasn’t because they didn’t think of that it’s because it’s not something one would usually say in a situation like this. But you ain’t the usual kind of gal, are you.
“Can’t I love you all equally? Don’t brothers have to share anyways?” You keep bringing up these points which stump them further.
Ah yes, the tactic of confusion.
You can easily love them all. They will get their own special treatments. There is so much to love about each one of them. You were already debating on this before so you had this all set in your mind.
“Perhaps you can. I am unsure how this could work but it will not hurt to try.” Kuai Liang answered.
“Yeah, I think this could work out. You always find a way to make things happen. it will make everyone involved happy.” Tomas added on.
Kuai Liang agreed with Tomas which made them both on board with this. Bi-Han was more hesitant. He should have you all to himself. But it would make some things awkward around her. Oh fine! At least he still gets you.
“Fine. We will have it your way. But I get to have you first.”
Bi-Han picked you up and threw you over his shoulders. You get a sense of deja vu but you never experienced this, right?
All the brothers start to argue and insist he put you down. It was a no from him every time. You sigh as you realize this could get a little complicated.
Oh dear, looks like Bi-Han needs to learn that sharing is caring.
After notes: Alright yall I gotta go gamble and fight senior citizens for pickle rick, giants football, and a Japanese switch. I will throw hands. Sorry if this ain’t the best I did my best. Adiós!

Emerald Gem||Chapter Seven PREVIEW
Tumblr media
Hybrid!bts x fem!reader
Overview: Living away from society has its perks. All natural food from your thoroughly cultivated farm, no nosy neighbors, and peace and security with your animals. But sometimes you did get lonely, having no one to talk to but the cows and pigs. However, when 7 extremely wanted hybrids stumble upon your deserted farm, everything changes.
Genre: Hybrid Au, Strangers to lovers, slow burn, smut, fluff
A/N: here’s a teaser of chapter seven!! I should have the entire chapter out sometime next week but enjoy for now :)
You did what you could to comfort them, but you knew that without Namjoon home, the boys were never going to feel true peace. It made you sick to your stomach thinking about what the researchers may be doing to him. Taehyung couldn’t sleep without being next to Jimin. Jimin was restless when sleeping without Jungkook.
And Kook had night terrors when he wasn’t cuddling with you.
Hoseok was jumpy. A knock at the door had him running. Thunderstorms woke him from his slumber. Jin was unusually caring. In the morning he already made breakfast, working on lunch. After showers, it gave Jin a sense of protection drying his pack members hair. He even made his rounds, room to room, making sure everyone was sleeping soundly. When Jin had a chance to rest his eyes, all he could picture was the people he loved be snatched one by one.
Yoongi had a caffeine problem.
A cup in the morning, cup in the afternoon, and a piping hot cup before bed. He believed it to be a stress reliever, but he was actually bouncing off the walls, having caffeine induced anxiety attacks. You even tried hiding the coffee maker, but to no avail. He found it every time. And he would never admit that he can’t relax without having the entire pack in his sight.
“Can I come in?” A knock at your office door awoke you from your thoughts. Jin, on the other side of the door with a cup of hot cocoa and a plate of bacon and eggs, awaited your response. “I don’t wanna interrupt.”
You pushed your rolling chair to the door, creaking it open for him. “No, you’re not interrupting anything. Just doing some research...This for me?” You pointed at the plate of food in Jin’s hand. He nodded, handing you the warm plate carefully.
“And don’t worry about cleaning. Tae already put everything away. Watcha researching?” His eyes roamed your desk. A map with written directions. An article titled: Dr. Kim Petitions Court for Hybrid Rights.
And a piece of torn paper with a phone number on it and a fancy name.
“Who’s Hongjoong?” Jin asked you, a little more aggressively than he thought. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that. Youre free to talk to whoever, I just-“
“It’s okay”, you giggled, showing him that you’re in no way upset. “I was actually going to talk to you guys about something, but now that you’re here I guess I’ll tell you. Come sit”. You pat the velvet ottoman across from your desk.
“I wanna get your thoughts before I tell the others.”
“Tell the others what, exactly?” Jin sat down with ease, a lot of curiosity.
You prepared your thoughts. How do I say that I want to take the countries most wanted hybrids to the research facility where their pack leader is being kept?
“W-what?”
Shit, I said that out loud.
“Wait! Im so sorry! Fuck, that came out wrong. I was trying to say that I found a way for us to get Namjoon back, but it requires a lot of work”. You hoped that eased Jins worries. You hoped he would ponder of over the idea, give it some thought. You hoped he would say yes and convince the others.
You hoped.
“So, you want to travel with six hybrid criminals, in hopes of breaking out another hybrid criminal, and make it back home in one piece? Im confused.”
Rightfully so. You didn’t have it all planned out. You didn’t give him all the details. You didn’t even know the details yourself! Now, you’re putting your trust in an old friend who claims that he believes in hybrid rights?
Sounds like a bunch of horse shit to Jin.
“Jin please just hear me out”, you begged. “I have this friend- well old classmate, really. He’s a researcher who is currently on strike for his beliefs on hybrid testing and abuse. If I can get to him, he might be able to help us get Joon back.”
You could see the look on Jin’s face. He was still dubious, and he had every right to be. Why do we have to go? He wondered. Can you promise me we’ll make it back?
“You want my honest opinion?” You nodded frantically. “Okay...”
He paused. “I feel like it’s a shitty idea.”
“Jin-“
“No! You wanna know what I think? I think it’s a dumb fucking idea! God knows what will happen on the way there. Not to mention, Joon may already be dead! Then you have led us into a trap where we will all face the same fate, you included!”
You sighed. You were getting nowhere. Dead end after dead end. It seemed hopeless. Maybe it was hopeless. Maybe Joon was already dead, and you could do nothing about it.
But you had to at least try…

A/n: also your opinion are greatly appreciated!! Please let me know what you think!

Fox and the Hound
sandor clegane x reader
Chapter 6
Previous chapter here
Sum-Joffrey wants to send a message to your family after your brother embarrasses him, so he marries you off to his most unwanted man in his court, the hound. But will this marriage truly be a statement for an eyesore, or will it grow into something more.
Cw for this chapter- Threatening, Joffrey (we know why), mention of sex, breathing restriction, 18+ language.
Tumblr media
Your arm is linked with sansas as you walk through the city courtyard seeing the gold, white, and red decorations. You look up seeing the banners, seeing them draped from windows and strung across the walls. Walking into the town square the space has been cleared and the severent are working to continue the decorations.
You see joffrey barking orders as merryn trant and hound stand behind him. He notices the two of you and adjusts himself before walking over.
“My lady sansa. Lady clegane.” he says
“Your grace” you both say. Your eyes glance up at Sandor before focusing on the king when he speaks.
“Wonderful don't you think..i think this is just what kingslanding need the festival!'' Joffrey says.
“It's beautiful.” Sansa acts.
“Yeah sure, it should be completed in 2 days time i hope the food will be good, come with me my lady, I want to show you where the fool will be performing.” Joffrey says, holding his arm out to sansa. Who takes it? He takes a step as the other two men begin to follow.
“Not you dog, stay, keep an eye on the bloody workers if they can ever fucking move fast enough.'' Joffrey says before walking off leaving you Sandor and the other guard who assisted you and Sansa on the walk to the courtyard. Sandor nods his head to the guard who must be new by the way he shakes when he sees his superior, and the guard scurries off to fill his place with Sansa and joffrey.
Sandor turns watching as the servants continue to work. It's quiet for a bit before he turns his head to you looking at you. You notice he's looking at you so you look back at him.
“What?” you ask, his hardened expression doesn't change.
“What?!” you exclaim as he turns his head back forwards.
“Are you hurting?” he asks reluctantly. You frown in confusion not understanding what he means until he speaks again.
“The first time is usually uncomfortable, '' he says. Your ears burn as you realize he's talking about last night in public.
“O-oh..i'm alright, s-sore. I should ask the same for you.” you say looking up at him.
“Mm. just cat scratches i've had worse.” he grumbles.
“I'm not hurt, you know. You didn't hurt me sandor, like you said.” you say taking his hand, his rough palm in your soft one. He looks down to you, feeling your hand in his.
“The marks…do those hurt?” he asks.
“Not at all if anything…I kind of like them.” you say blushing lightly. A short chuckle leaves his lips as he looks back to the servants.
“Your cape is back in the room.” you add on.
“Hmm..last night wasn't enough for you then little fox?” he asks.
“N-no! I mean yes– i-I it was enough- i enjoyed myself- i hope you did as well- i'm just suggesting- n-no i'm not. NO i mean ah…” your face burns as you fumble over your words.
“If you'd like it b-back you're going to have to get it yourself. My maids are terrified of you so they will not return it by mail.” you say pulling your hand away from him.
Amused at how easy it was to fluster you but less so that your hand is gone from his.
“Fine then..” he huffs and holds out his arm to you.
“I'll get it myself.” he says, waiting for you to take his arm.
“Good” you say and hold his arm in yours. You turn your head away, opening your mouth to speak again when you're hit from behind, causing you to almost fall forwards if sandor hadn't caught you. Three men run by you, the last one running into you. Sandor grabs the third by his neck lifting him.
“Watch where your fucking running boy! You've hit the princess. Watch it or I'll use your entrails as a damn jump rope!” he barks out, resorting back to his usual roughness. The man whimpers in fear once the hound puts him down.
“M-m-my apologies milady!” he says bowing before running off to his friends.
“You alright?” he asks you. Going back to you facing you. Your hand rests on your shoulder where he hit you.
“Yes. Thank you for catching me.” you say. He nods, bringing his hand  up to your face, tucking your hair behind your hair, spotting the marks he left on your neck. He lifts your chin looking at his handy work.
“Fucking pigs running through the streets nearly ran into me!” you hear jeoffrey's whining voice. Sandor pulls his hand away from you before turning to face the sound of the king.
“You just stare at the fuckign flags waving in the air you mutt?” Joffrey asks, not really wanting an answer from sandor.
“Sure.” he says
“Mm whatever entertains your boring scared ass. Honestly I don't know how you entertain yourself around him.” joffrey says walking passed you both making sandor roll his eyes with a sneer mouthing a mockery of joffrey. Making you press your lips together suppressing a laugh.
“Come along dog, we have to look in the bakery.” Joffrey says not really having to do so; he's probably just hungry and wants food.
—-----
You continue the rest of the day and and the next exploring the festival decorations ever going as far out as the the towns square only with two f your hand maidens. Sneaking out of the castle with out a gaurd is no easy feat and often times with in the hour a gaurd who bring you back to the castle. Every guard its been has been Sandor.
you admire the decorations the towns people have done and the hope they share for a good and well festival even spending some time with the local children in the orphanages. Playing games and reading to them. Until you are once again escorted back to the castle.
But now you are on a different mission you walk into the seamstress house.
“Excuse me?” You ask a woman
“Oh! My princess!” She says and bows down.
“Shh no no i-im not supposed to be outside of the castle walls without supervision please get up.” You say begging her. She raises.
“Can you please make something like this. Black gold and yellow?” You ask
“A black dress milady? Was th’re a death in the family?” She says her thick accent almost missing words.
“N-no i want to wear it for the festival would you be able to make it for me?” You ask handing her paper with the sketch and your size.
“ o’course i can.” She says with a smile.
“Thank you i apologize for the short notice um. Here” you say placing a little pouch of coins on the table next to the paper.
“OH why mildly id’a do it f’free” she says you shake your head.
“No no. Your dresses you make are far too beautiful to not be paid for.” You say and smile.
“I’ll do me best, I’ll ‘ave it sent into the ca’sle on the day.” She says you nod smiling at her before hurrying off having heard that the guards were looking for you.
————
Walking down the hall you reach the library on your usual rounds to keep yourself entertained. When you’re stopped by two guards thier armor shiny and unbent letting your know they are new.
“Hello there little lady.” One speaks as the block your route to the library.
“Excuse me ser’s” you say and try to pass but to no avail you cant pass them, more like they wont let you.
“Whats a pretty thing like you doing out alone eh?” The other says hes got a Scottish accent.
“You’re blocking my way. Excuse me i wont ask again?” You say sternly looking up at them.
“Oh so fierce. Eh the little minx bites then does she? Id like you to use those teeth for something else then eh?” He speaks again. A disgusted look falls upon your face.
“She dosnt bite, but i do.” You hear the familiar gruff voice behind you.
The immediately straighten up.
“What are you two bastards drivleing on about.” Hound speaks again.
“N-nothing ser.” He  says.
“Making s-sure the lady princess is safe on her w-way..” the other speaks.
“Fuck off or i‘ll cut off your cock and balls myself and shove them so far down your throat you’ll be coughing each others semen for a week.” He says shifting in his stance. The men bow to you before they scurries off.
You turn to him facing him looking up at him.
“You alright?” He asks. You nod in response.
“We’re you following me?” You ask a small smile on yor face.
“No.” He says immedetly before starting to walk off you smile at him skipping up to him.
“You were weren’t you?” You smile looking at him as you walk.
“No I wasn’t I was just walking the same way as you were standing.” He says
“That..that sounds like watching me.. Don’t you think its also familiar that every time i’m out of the castle walls you’re the one to come a retrieve me?” You say. He stops and turns to you.
“No, and if i was following you.” He says you smile up at him taking a step closer.
“Why?” You ask, knowing that he was, placing your hands against his armored chest. His hands remain one at his side and one as his sword.
“Because little fox…” he trails off you nod your head waiting for him to finish.
“Because this city is not safe half the time.” He says. A toothy grin forms on your face as you realize what he’s trying to say.
“You’re worried for me arn’t you?” You ask he huffs.
“You are! Sandor you’re worried. Well you needn’t worry becuase i have a strong personal gaurd that follows me wherever i go.” You say. His dementor changes his soft gaze hardening.
“You, Sandor. You follow me.” You say poking at his chest. He grunts and begins to walk away from you.
“Will I see you tonight?” You ask out to him leaning your head to the side.
“why?” He asks
“The festival?” You ask
“I have to be there.” He says
“Good.” You smile. You watch as he turns to walk off again but turns back to you taking a few steps twords you due to his long strides and leans down to you kissing your cheek before turning and finally walking away.
————
You stand in front of your mirror, your maids interchanging dresses for you to look at as you wear to the festival tonight.
“What do you think of this, my lady?” one asks as she holds out a pink and white dress.
“It's too…young I would look like a strawberry and cream pastry.” you reply.
Your handmaidens giggle as one retorts to you.
“Maybe the lord clegane would find you good enough to eat.” she says as they all giggle your face flushes with heat as your mind backtracks to the night.
“This my lady?” she asks, holding up another dress.
“Too green.” you say
“My lady the dress you ordered came in?” she asks again, holding out a new dress.
You look at it for a moment recognizing the colors; it looks like sandors house banner. The black dress with yellow accents and golden corset display.
You smile about agreeing to it when the doors open and your hand maiden walks in with one of the queens holding out a dress crying in your presence.
“Her grace the queen has requested you wear this for the night my lady.” she says holding out a red gold and white they would more than likely be restricting as hell. Your smile fades when the black dress is taken away from you and the maids help you undress in the current one. Your eyes glance back at the other dress before you're completely stripped of the dress you hand on and you step into the dress cersi told you to wear.
The dress slips on perfectly, the collar coming up slightly around your neck, not leaving any room for slouching. As the maiden laces the corsets your breath becomes more and more restricted.
“F-fuck.” you curse under your breath as she fully tightens the corset. You grab onto the desk side as she tugs pulling your waist in more and more. Until the ties are tight enough.
“Are you alright my lady?” she asks, concerned.
“Y-yes i'm fine.” you say your hand resting on your stomach now sucked into the heavens. She nods. She bends down to fix the trail of the dress so you can fully see the results of the garment. A knock at the door can be heard.
“Enter.” You call out as the door opens. Sandor walks in. Causing the maid who opened the door you hurry a step backwards. You turn to see him in new armored gear. The white and gold armor shining against his dark hair and features. The intricate patterning on spikes and swirls reside on the shoulder pieces and in the middle of his chest the crown symbol. His white and gold cape flowed behind him. But what shocks you the most is his face, he shaved, but more so most likely forced too. And a boy about 16 or so follows close behind him.
A smile forms brightly on your face as your mouth drops open a bit. When you fully turn to face him. His grumpy resting bitch face still present as he sneers a look at the maid from cersi’s hands and she squeaks past him to return to the queen. His eyes hit you seeing you in the dress and his eyes immediately soften.
“Did you shave?!!.” you ask excitedly. He doesn't answer his eyes just wander your garments growing colder again
“Ive been poked and prodded and shaved down i have uncomfortable armor and they gave me a fucking squire…im not in the mood for jesting. If anything all i want is to cut the fucker who did this to me in half and feed his shit to jeoffry for ordering it.” he says slowly.
You walk to him only now noticing how heavy the dress is.
You stand in front of him looking up at his face then down to his squire.
“And you are?” you ask if the boy seems stunned to be in your chambers more than anything.
“J-joss stillwood milady.” he bows.
“Pleasure to meet you. Has my lord husband treated you well?” you ask.
“Yes milady. Of course.” he says, actually telling the truth. You look back at sandor.
“You look very handsome sandor.” you say.
“Shut the fuck up.” he grumbles his heart burting at the compliment. You give him a small smile.  “Cersi has asked that i escort you into the banquet hall as a guard, as lord ...and as a husband” he says your eyes widen ever so slightly.
“Well you certainly look the part then.” you say he sighs and holds out his arm. For you you take it and exit the chambers walking to the banquet all seeing other guests walking the same way.
————
Holding onto sandors arms you can hear the faint gossip from others as you walk towards the doors. You feel the looks as people stare.
“y/n.” you hear sandor speak. You look up at him seeing he’s already looking at you.
“Ignore them. That's what I do.” he says, having noticed your discomfort. You nod.
 You reach the doors and are announced.
“I present princess y/n of house clegane and her lord husband, kingsguard, Sandor “the Hound” Clegane.” Everyone stops what they are doing and bows to you. As you enter. You see cersi, joffrey, tommen and sansa sitting at the head banquet table waiting for you.
You both walk down the aisle that will soon become a dance floor to the table. You lift your skirt ever so slightly to climb the few stairs to your seat. Sandor pulls out the chair for you and you take a seat. He stands behind you slightly to your side.
“Welcome my dear, i'm so glad the dress made it to you in one piece you look ravishing, Doesn't she look beautiful clegane?” cersi says turning to sandor to ask.
“Yes, your grace.” he answers coldly. She picks up her knife and cups tapping the metal utensil against it. Quieting everyone.
“It is with great pleasure that I have invited you all here tonight. We have music, fine wine, food, dancing here and in the courtyard. This festival brings us all together. Please enjoy yourselves." She says everyone cheers before the music begins. She sits back down and food is placed on the table.
Everyone begins to eat but you sit and poke at the food. Cersi takes notice of this and leans to you.
“Are you well my dear?” she ask
“Yes, your grace.” you answer.
“I hope as well, my maidens told me of you and sandors consummation, I do hope those markings amount to your body healing well.” she says.
“...y-yes your grace i haven't needed a maester.” you say she nods. And leans back to her seat you looks up at sandor you stands like a brick wall watching and scanning the room. You watch as everyone enjoys the party and dances and eats. You manage to eat a small amount before not wanting anymore, just a few raspberries and strawberries. You've sat at the table half board and half content for an hour or so before Sansa gets up and walks to you.
“y/n..dance with me?” she asks, standing next to you.
“Oh i don't think..” you say
“Come on!” she says holding out her hand you sigh and nod standing up and taking it. Sandor follows close after you both to watch as a guard. She leads you out through the open doors to the court yard where more music plays and others are eating and dancing.
A new song begins just in time as you both take your place. You admire Sansa's dress. A flowy blue dress no doubt Joffrey has chosen for the golden landed bodice shines against the outside lighting. The dance begins and you hold up your hand turning along with sansa.
“I can't breathe in this dress.” you say to her.
“Neither can i” she says, giving a small laugh.
“My hand maids tied it so tight I can feel my heart beating in my throat.” she continues. You laugh and nod. Turning to the side to switch partners as part of the dance, it's a young man around your age as he smiles at you, surely admiring you.
“You smell good my lady if I may interject.” he says.
“Thank you my lord.” you answer.
“Willow berry and prose is such a fine scent of a beautiful princess.” he says linking your arms with his as part of the dance requires.
“Y-yes.” you say.
“I'm lord of the hotel house , segal.” he says.
“A pleasure.” you say before returning to sansa.
“Who?” she asks. You shrug giving her a pained expression.
“Sandor doesn't seem to have taken a liking.” she says gesturing over to where he stands by the doors. You see him looking at you, his gaze hardened at the sight of the man who was making conversation with you. You also watch as joss nods his head enjoying the music in his place next to sandor.
“Oh no..”you say Sansa laughs as the dance shifts once more bringing you back to the lord.
“Pleasurable once more.” he says.
“The dance, yes of course.” you say. He chuckles, shaking his head.
“No my princess, you are.” he says
“I appreciate your kind word my lord for I am promised to another, sealed in fact.” you say looking over at the 6’7 monster of a guard and husband standing glaring.
“Ah..well a dance will not hurt then.” he says. Before you can answer the dance ends and you curtsy as he bows to you.
“May I have the next one?” he asks
“I really dont think-” you begin glancing at Sansa who has already been caught up by joffrey.
“Please my lady, dance. one.” he says holding out his hand you nod taking it. The music begins again to play a very upbeat song known for lots of movement and dancing which you don't know how you will complete in the dress. He pulls you into him and begins to lead the upbeat dance.
Not being able to last the entire song you break away from him gathering your dress and walking off trying to catch your breath.
“My lady?! Are you alright?” he asks, you hold out a hand to tell him to go away but too out of breath to speak, but before he can place a hand on you he is grabbed by sandor.
“Fuck off.” he speaks gruffly.
“Excuse me sir but I am a-...” he trails off seeing Sandor fully and runs off.
“Are you alright little fox?” he asks you to look at you. You place your hand on your stomach as you walk farther away from the music and dancing. You walk out onto the side view balcony hearing the faint music. Still struggling to breath your lack of air causes your vision to blur black spotting in your vision. The dress becomes heavier by the second causing you to lose your footing and hit the side barrier, you gasp about to fall off the side when you're caught by sandor he pulls you into him.
Your knees give out as he holds you. He kneels to the ground. His hand is placed on your waist feeling the hard boning of the corset and hearing your labored breathing.
“Shall i call the maester ser?!” Joss asks worriedly.
“No…For fucks sake” sandor curses before he pulls out his dagger and cuts the corset down the middle allowing for a gush of air to return to your lungs. You grab onto him as you can finally breathe again. You blink as your vision clears. The color also comes back to your face as he places his hand on your cheek. You give him a weakened smile placing your hand over his. His eyes scanned to make sure that that was all that was causing your discomfort.
“You're alright now little fox.” he says, kissing your forehead. Helping you stand before lifting you into his arms he carries you away from the party back to your chambers.

Before the Dawn: Chapter I // Logan Howlett
This is the first fic I’ve written in 11 years, so pls be nice. I’m sensitive. Also sorry for the formatting of the dialogue, I’m more used to writing scripts. 09/17/24 Update: I revised the dialogue
Logan Howlett x f!mutant!reader Chapter 1/4 Word Count: 1874
Background: You are a mutant with hydrokinetic abilities (think Percy Jackson meets the mermaids from H2O), and arrived at the X-Mansion 4 months before Logan. You started dating Logan after the events of X-Men but before he left for Alkali Lake. You are both in love with each other but have yet to confess it. Takes place within the events of X2, Canon violence, pre-established relationship, allusions to sex
Today was already shaping up to be a difficult one. You were taking the students on a field trip to the science museum, but your hopes weren't high. The prospect of wrangling groups of children still learning to control their powers filled you with dread, especially with the escalating tension between humans and mutants.
Things went from bad to worse when you heard raised voices coming from the museum food court. You quickly glanced over to see John, Bobby, and Rogue in an altercation with some human boys. Just then, the televisions blared breaking news, drawing everyone’s attention.
“An attempted assassination at the White House?” you murmured, your stomach dropping as the report unfolded. A mutant had infiltrated the building and tried to kill the president in the name of mutant freedom.
Later, you found yourself standing in Charles' office with him, Scott, Jean, and Storm, discussing the attack.
Scott crossed his arms, his expression grim. “My opinion? Magneto’s behind this.”
“No,” Jean replied, shaking her head. “I don’t think so, Scott.”
Charles leaned back in his chair, contemplating. “While Erik might have organized something like this from prison, it’s too irrational. It only hurts his goal of mutant prosperity.”
Scott scoffed. “You mean superiority.”
“If Erik had his way, yes,” Charles admitted.
You interjected, “You know how the government will respond to this. They’ll reintroduce the Registration Act.”
Storm nodded. “Or worse.”
“Do you think the assassin was working alone?” Jean asked, her brow furrowed.
“The only way we’ll know is if we find him before the authorities do,” Charles said. “I’ve been trying to track him using Cerebro, but his movements are erratic.”
As Charles continued explaining the plan, you felt a weight in your chest. You were assigned to watch over the kids tonight. Normally, you wouldn’t mind, but with Logan gone for so long and the events of the day hanging over you, you weren’t in the best mood. Still, you kept your thoughts to yourself.
Just as the meeting was wrapping up, a sputtering rumble from outside caught your attention. You stepped to the window and your eyes lit up as you spotted Logan talking with Rogue, Bobby, and Storm. You caught the tail end of their conversation.
“We need a babysitter,” Storm said.
“Babysitter?” Logan replied, raising an eyebrow.
“Yes, with Y/N,” Storm added.
Logan perked up at the mention of your name, and your heart fluttered.
“Y/N? Where is she?” he asked, scanning the room.
“Right here,” you called, leaning against the staircase banister, smiling at him.
His eyes widened as he saw you—the most beautiful person he’d ever seen. He strode over to the staircase as you walk down, stopping on the step closest to his height. He wraps his arms around your waist.
“I missed you,” he said softly.
You cupped your hands around the back of his neck, trailing your fingers through his hair. “I missed you too, Logan.”
You pulled each other into a kiss, savoring the moment. But just as it deepened, you heard Storm clear her throat.
“There are kids around,” she reminded, and you pulled back, smiling sheepishly at Logan.
“Well, I should get the jet ready,” Storm said.
“Yeah, we should go too. It was nice to meet you,” Bobby added, pulling Rogue toward the common area.
As they left, you and Logan were left hyper-aware of the students passing by.
“So, what’s been going on here?” Logan asked, leaning closer.
“Well, you and I are on babysitting duty while Storm and Jean head to Boston. The professor wants them to track down the mutant who attacked the president,” you explained.
“Sounds like a blast,” he said sarcastically.
“You’re not gonna run off again?” you asked, tilting your head.
“I can think of a few reasons to stick around,” he replied, his hazel eyes sparkling with mischief.
You leaned in, kissing him again, pulling him further from any potential onlookers.
“You make me crazy, Princess,” he murmured, his breath warm against your lips.
“Keep that energy for later,” you teased, tugging lightly at his hair. He closed his eyes and groaned softly, and you loved how he reacted to you.
“Before we get too carried away, I should check in with Charles,” he said reluctantly.
You both pulled away, and he lifted your hand to his lips, kissing it gently. “We’ll talk more later, yeah?”
“Yeah,” you replied, watching him walk away with your heart swelling.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later that night, after a passionate evening together, you were exhausted and just wanted to curl up in bed with him. You slipped into pajama shorts and one of Logan's shirts, turning to find him deep in thought, staring at a photo of the two of you on his nightstand. It was a candid shot Storm had taken, capturing you both leaning into each other on the mansion’s couch, completely absorbed in conversation. The look of pure infatuation between you is palpable, even in the still image.
“What’s on your mind?” you asked.
He looked up, breaking from his trance. “Hmm? Nothing. I just think you look beautiful in this picture.”
You sensed he wasn’t telling the whole truth, but you didn’t press. “Wanna come to bed?”
He took your hand, and you both settled in, snuggled together. It didn’t take long for you to drift off, enveloped in his warmth. Logan, however, was still plagued by nightmares of his past or what he couldn’t remember of his past. After about forty-five minutes, he gave up on sleep, kissed you on the forehead, and quietly slipped out of bed.
In the kitchen, he searched for something to drink and found Bobby sitting at the island.
“Doesn’t anyone sleep in this place?” Logan grumbled, rummaging through the fridge.
Bobby shrugged, taking a sip from his drink. “You’d be surprised.”
“Is there any beer?” Logan asked.
“This is a school,” Bobby pointed out.
“Well, is there anything here besides chocolate milk?” Logan continued.
“There should be some soda in the cupboard over there,” Bobby pointed.
Logan grabbed a bottle of Dr. Pepper but hesitated before drinking it. Instead, he passed it to Bobby to chill it with his powers. As they continued talking, a noise caught Logan’s attention, and he walked out of the kitchen to investigate.
As he turned back, he spotted a soldier, camouflaged, stalking toward Bobby, who was turned the other way. Logan sprang into action, grabbing the soldier and twisting his arm behind his back.
“You picked the wrong house, bub,” he growled.
Suddenly, a sonic scream filled the mansion, forcing everyone to cover their ears. For Logan, with his heightened senses, it felt like his head was going to explode. The soldier broke free, opening fire in the kitchen.
You jolted awake, disoriented from the sonic screech. An armed man stood in your doorway. The pain in your head was overwhelming, and before you could react, he shot you in the neck with tranquilizer darts. Everything went black.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Logan fought through the chaos, he felt a sharp sting in his shoulder—three tranquilizers embedded in his skin and yanked them out. He fought through the brief haze, dispatching the soldiers around him. But as adrenaline coursed through him, his mind raced back to you. He had to know where you were—if you were okay.
He sprinted to his room, finding it empty. Panic clawed at him as he called your name. “Y/N!?”
He rushed toward the secret escape tunnel, spotting Colossus helping kids through a hidden opening.
“Have you seen Y/N?” Logan shouted.
“No,” Colossus replied, his face grave. “But I can help.”
“Help them,” Logan urged, pointing back toward the opening, his heart pounding as he fought his way back through the mansion.
When he spotted Bobby, Rogue, and John in danger, he leaped over the banister, taking out the soldiers and shouting for the kids to follow him. “Did you see Y/N?”
“No, but she probably made it out with the others,” Rogue said, her voice shaky.
Logan closed the escape hatch behind the kids, preparing for the incoming squad. “If you wanna shoot me, shoot me!”
“Wolverine, this is certainly the last place I’d expect to find you. How long has it been? Fifteen years? You haven’t changed a bit,” Stryker taunted, stepping into the light.
Logan’s claws extended, fury boiling within him. “Who are you?”
Stryker smirked. “I didn’t realize Xavier was taking in animals. Even animals as unique as you. Seems to be quite a life you’re trying to make for yourself. A home… a beautiful woman…”
From his pocket, Stryker pulled out a photo—the very one from Logan’s nightstand. They had you. Logan lunged forward, but a wall of ice sprang up between them.
“No!” he shouted, pounding on the ice.
“Logan, come on! Let’s go!” Rogue urged.
“He’s got Y/N!” Logan roared, his heart racing.
“We’ll get her back. Let’s go,” Bobby said firmly.
“Go! I’ll be fine!” Logan insisted, his determination unwavering.
“But we won’t!” Rogue plead.
Logan looked back at the wall of ice and then at the kids, torn between the two. Finally, he let out a frustrated huff and walked back to them. As they navigated the tunnel system, dark thoughts consumed him. The person he loved was captured. He might never see you again. He never got the chance to tell you he’d gladly run away with you, to live a life free from the chaos surrounding them. Tears welled in his eyes, but he quickly wiped them away, not wanting the kids to panic further. These fears haunted him throughout the drive to Boston.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You woke up in a dim, concrete cell, surrounded by six kids from the mansion. Only two were conscious.
“Are you guys okay?” you asked, trying to remain calm.
They nodded. “We’re gonna be okay,” you reassured them, though doubt gnawed at you.
You tried to feel around with your powers for any ounce of water, but to your horror, you realized they were dampened. A faint blue glow illuminated the top of the cell—power dampeners.
After some time of comforting the kids, a soldier appeared in the grate above, drawing his gun.
“What are you doing?” you demanded, fear rising in your throat.
He pulled the trigger six times, one by one the kids collapsing around you with tranquilizer darts now back in their necks. “Please! They’re just kids!” you pleaded, desperation spilling from your voice.
An older, stockier man stepped out from behind the soldier. “Hello, Y/N,” Stryker said, his tone chilling.
“Why are you doing this?” you asked, shaking.
“I’m trying to fix a problem,” he replied coolly.
“You’re the problem!” you shot back.
“Oh, contraire, my dear. Mutants are a threat to our way of life, and I intend to fix that by any means necessary.”
The soldier shot a taser at you, and pain coursed through your body, forcing you to the floor. A door opened to your cell, and another soldier approached, holding a vile.
He flipped you onto your stomach, brushing your hair away from your neck, and you felt a sharp pinch. Whatever they injected you with turned your world upside down. Everything faded to black once more.
I've seen a few people talking about how cool a hellfire 'adopting' steve fic would be and since youre my favorite steddie writer I immediately thought of you. If you want to, I think you'd write that situation really well
Thank you! I'm really glad that you like reading my fics and I hope this meets your expectations!
~*~*~*~
Eddie was long in the business of collecting lost sheep. He himself knew what it was like to be alone, to be ostracized and isolated for being a little bit too different in a town as bland as Hawkins. So whenever he could, he tried to help people. He looked for those that needed support the most and tried to befriend them because he knew what it was like to go through life without it. If he could be the shepherd needed to guide the lost sheep, he would.
In the late fall of Eddie’s senior year, something happened that no one could have predicted, an event so shocking that it shook the entire town. All of Hawkins was in a state of surprise, and all of the students at the high school were rattled. Steve Harrington had lost his title of King. He went from having throes of close friends and confidants at the top of the social hierarchy to having no one and resting at the bottom.
Eddie didn’t know what had happened over a single weekend to make King Steve lose everything but when he saw him sitting all alone at one of the empty tables in the corner at lunch, exiled by his peers and poking at his food, Eddie felt compelled to step in.
He stood up from his seat at the head of the Freak table with his eyes still on Steve. He took one step before a hand grabbed his arm and stopped him in his tracks.
“What are you doing?” Gareth hissed at him, trying to plant him back in his seat.
“I’m going to go talk to Steve.”
“Harrington? What the hell is the matter with you? Are you insane? He was bullying us just last week!” Grant whisper-yelled at him.
“Okay, no he wasn’t,” Eddie defended. “He didn’t say anything and he told Tommy H to leave us alone when he was messing with us.”
That didn’t seem to help his case as much as he thought it would and he sighed. “Look guys, something obviously happened to him since he’s sitting there alone and picking at a bag of peanuts while all of his old friends are ignoring him and enjoying their lunches. We don’t judge here and we don’t know Steve enough to form an accurate opinion. So, I’m going to go get him and you’re all going to be nice. I have a feeling he needs that right now.”
His friends blinked at him wordlessly and he nodded. “I’m glad you’ve come to your senses. I’m going to go get him.”
And with that, he stalked over to the fallen king with the entire student body glaring at him in appall. He stopped just short of Steve’s chair and flashed his biggest grin at him. Upon seeing Steve’s concern however, he muted his grin into something less ‘I’m a maniac’ and more ‘you should be my friend’.
“Hey Harrington, how are you today?” Eddie asked him.
Steve just blinked up at him for a moment. His eye was bruised and his cheekbone was bloody. He looked like utter shit and that was saying something coming from Eddie.
“Um, I’m alright. How are you?”
Eddie’s smile brightened, “I’m great! How are you?”
“Still alright? Can I help you with something?” Steve asked him in confusion.
“Yes, I saw you over here by your lonesome and decided to sequester you to my table instead. Your former court doesn’t deserve to feast on the sight of your suffering.” Eddie may have gone a little bit overboard on that one.
Steve squinted at him. “Dude, I might still have a concussion but that didn’t make any sense at all.”
“You have a concussion?” Eddie asked in concern.
“Um, yeah. Byers has a mean right hook. He’s tougher than people give him credit for, I guess.”
“Byers? Like Jonathan Byers?” Eddie’s eyes widened. What the fuck had he done to piss of Jonathan ‘The Wallflower’ Byers?
“No, his little brother Will. Yes, Jonathan Byers,” Steve snarked sassily.
“Jesus Christ, I did not know he had it in him. He looks more like a lover than a fighter, you know?”
“Not really?” Steve shook his head slightly.
“Anyways, I feel like we’ve bonded. So since we’re friends now, do you want to come sit at my table? We hoard chocolate pudding, gossip about the popular kids, and play the amazing fantasy game that Christian mothers everywhere like to hate. You in?”
Steve watched him for a moment before biting his lip in thought. “How much chocolate pudding are we talking?”
“Tons. Grant’s mom is the lunch lady so we have a near endless supply and an ally on the dark side. We also get extra apple juice and all of the carrots one could ever want. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.” That was a bit of an over-exaggeration considering Grant had to steal her work key to get them the food but it was still kind of true.
Steve grabbed his bag of chex mix and his backpack and stood toe to toe with Eddie. “Now that’s an offer that I can’t refuse. Lead the way, Munson.”
Eddie smiled, he’d added another lost sheep to his herd. “After me, Harrington!”
They both stalked across the now-silent lunch room back to his table. Jeff, Gareth, and Grant were looking up at the two of them in surprise like they hadn’t expected his amazing personality to win over Steve Harrington.
“Alright, this is Jeff, Gareth, and Grant. Boys, this is Steve. Steve-O, take a seat!” Eddie announced boisterously. He pushed Gareth off his chair and motioned for Steve to take it. “Oh, look! An empty chair right next to my seat! Steve, you can sit right here!”
He saw Steve give a sympathetic look to Gareth but he sat down regardless. Eddie planted a cup of chocolate pudding right in front of him and smiled deviously. “Now Steve, what do you know about Dungeons & Dragons?”
“Um, I know that the kids I babysit like to play it and it’s some sort of storytelling game with lots of math?” he muttered.
Eddie just gasped along with the rest of Hellfire. “‘Some sort of storytelling game’? That’s the worst possible way you could’ve described it, Harrington! It’s not a game, it’s an experience!”
All three of the guys defended it at once.
“I can’t believe he just said that!”
“Lots of math? It’s a reasonable amount!”
“Next he’s going to say he doesn’t know what a dungeon master is!”
“Oh is that some sort of dice?” Steve asked them in confusion.
“Jesus fucking Christ,” one of the guys muttered.
“No, I’m the Dungeon Master. I tell-” Eddie tried to explain.
“Sounds kinky.”
“What the fuck-” Eddie yelled. Looking at the smile on Steve’s face, he knew that bringing him into Hellfire's fold was a good idea. He was a little concerned at just how easy he was riling up the guys but he had a good feeling about this sheep. Very good, indeed.
(Eddie starts dating him two weeks later after Steve lets it slip that he knows what a paladin is. How is Eddie not supposed to kiss him when he made his way to his little nerd heart?)
Aemond Targaryen x Targaryen!reader x Aegon ii Targaryen
Summary- it's Rhaegar's name day and he's in for a few surprises
Warnings- poly relationships, Aegon is scared of a 6-year-old, use of the word whore and bastard, brief smut, y/n being a worried mother, Aemond gets a daemon moment
Part of ‘A Good Wife’ Universe
Wc-4.8k
-
"Cake, music, and food are finalized." You say as you cheek off the boxes. "I am never planning his birthdays again." You were stressed out for Rhaegars Nameday as well as planning your wedding.
"You should have let us do something." Aemond kisses the top of your head.
"He's turning six, it needs to be perfect."
"He'll love anything, Rhaegar is not an ungrateful boy," Aegon says from behind you. Aemond then pushed some of your hair away from your neck and started kissing down your neck. You let yourself relax into the kisses even throwing your head back slightly.
"Aegon." Kiss. "Help me take care of our princess." It wasn't long before you felt a second pair of lips on your neck.
"Not ready." You say and reach up to grab the back of their necks. "Few more weeks."
"We don't need to fuck you with our cocks to help you relax," Aegon says. "Stand up." You did as he instructed and they started guiding you to the bed. Aegon sat down first and pulled you on his lap, he then placed his hands on your hips and started grinding you against his leg.
"Mmm." Aemond sat down next to you and slowly started pulling down the top of your dress. When your breasts popped out Aemond immediately attached his mouth and started sucking. As you were still lactating his mouth was flooded with milk. You tugged on Aemonds scalp and he groaned. "More." Aemond pulled away then grabbed your dress and pulled it over your thighs. He dropped lower and started kissing and sucking close to your mound.
None of you heard the door opening, it was the small gasp that made you all jump apart.
"Rhaegar!" You exclaimed and pulled your skirt down. Aemond sat on the ground and wiped his mouth.
"What's wrong?" Aemond says and Aegon shifts uncomfortably and moves from behind you.
"Why is uncle Aegon kissing momma like that?" He instantly frowned and you saw his eye start to gloss. "Do you not love each other anymore?"
"Oh, baby." You frowned and stood up to go to your son. You picked him up and started walking back, Aemond sitting on the bed now. You say in between the two brothers.
"Rhaegar, your mother and I love each other very much still."
"But why-." He started but you cut him off.
"Shh. You know the story of our ancestor Aegon the Conqueror and his sister wives?" He nodded. "Me and your father had to marry for duty but it turned into love very quickly, we were in love before the wedding." You looked at Aemond and smiled at him, he was already smiling, thinking of all the fun you had. "Now I know it's not quite the same as them but we love uncle Aegon, just like me and your father love each other."
"So father and uncle are like Rhaenys and Visenya and you are Aegon... in a way? Do they fight over you?" You laughed.
"Not anymore and yes I guess you could say that."
"Are you going to marry uncle?"
"Rhaegar," Aemond says, pulling his attention to him. "We should also tell you that yes your mother is marrying Aegon but it's not just her marrying him, as am I." Rhaegar took in the information, he may not understand completely, but he knew enough.
"Okay. Will uncle be my father now? Since you're marrying him?" Your breath hitched and you looked at Aegon.
"Rhaegar." He says. "You don't have to call me father, I can always be uncle it's whatever you are comfortable with." The little boy nodded.
"Does that mean when you have uncle's children I'll have to fight them for a place in court?" You all raised your eyebrows in confusion.
"No, no you don't have to worry about that." You knew why he asked that. "Our situation is similar to Aegon and his wives but it isn't the same as Visenya and Rhaenys sons fighting to have the throne."
"Oh okay." You sighed. You had to tell him about Elyas. "Rhaegar, about Elyas."
"Y/n." Says Aegon and he was staring at you almost pleading for you to stop.
"He must know." Rhaegar tilted his head to the aide and waited.
"Elyas is your half-brother... so he is Aegons, son." He didn't answer he just furrowed his eyebrows and you gently passed your hand into his silver curls.
"He is still my brother, and I will still protect him just like I protect Aerys." His words couldn't help but bring tears to your eyes. "Can you take me to bed momma?"
 "Of course my little dragon."
-
"We should've told him when this started." You groaned as you entered the room. "This could ruin his whole day tomorrow for all we know." Aemond sighed and walked to you.
"Y/n it's going to be alright, Rhaegars is still young and doesn't understand what it all means yet."
"Aemond me and you both know our son isn't stupid."
"Yes, I know." Aemond pulled you in his arms and gives you a big hug
"Well to me he took it quite well," Aegon interjects and you peered over Aemonds shoulder to glare at him.
-
"Aemond what if he's not ready?" You ask him as the five of you walk to Rhaegar's room, Elyas strapped to your chest and Aerys in Aegons arms.
"My love, me and you watch Rhaegar train with Aemond and Daemon all the time, we all know how good he has gotten." Aegon says trying to ease your worries.
"I know, I know. You’re right I just don't want him to hurt himself."
"He will not because I am going to go over the rules," Aemond says while he holds a long skinny box that carried Rhaegars present. It took a while to convince you to let him get a sword for his son. It was a small one, suitable for a six-year-old. You knocked on his door but received no response.
"He is asleep." You opened the door and walked in. Rhaegar was curled up in his sheets, sleeping soundly. "Rhaegar." You shook him gently and he started to stir.
"MuĂąa?" He asks groggily.
"Happy name day my little dragon." He shot up immediately and a bright smile came to his face. You bent down and started kissing him all over his face, he giggled and moved away. He looked down to see Elyas' head poking out from the swaddle.
"Hello, Elyas." He whispers and kisses his brother on the head. You turned your head to Aemond and Aegon and gave them a knowing smile. He the. looked around and saw his father, uncle, and little brothers. Rhaegar shuffled off the bed and immediately wrapped his arms around your waist then he ran to his father. Aemond set the case on the floor and went down to one knee and pulled his son in.
"I remember when you were such a small thing." He placed a soft kiss on Rhaegars cheek. Aerys squirmed in Aegons arms and he set him down. The little toddler then stumbled towards his father and brother to join the hug, laying his cheek on Aemonds bicep. Rhaegar pulled away and took a few steps to his uncle.
"Morning, uncle."
"Happy name day, Rhaegar." Aegon ruffled his nephew's curly silver hair making the boy smile. You sat on the small bed and Aemond picked up the case.
"Rhaegar come here," Aemond says and Rhaegar started walking towards him.
"Yes, father?"
"I have a gift for you but you need to understand that this isn't a toy." He turned around and you saw your son's eyes brighten.
"A sword? For me?" He instantly reached out for it, and Aemond placed it in his small hands. He instantly adjusted it in his hands to hold the handle.
"You will not swing this sword while your brothers or little cousins are near, this sword is for training purposes. Do I may myself clear? Because me and your mother will not hesitate to take it away from you, she knows how to handle a blade."
"Yes, father." Rhaegar lowered the blade to his side. Aemond felt satisfied and turned back to grab the belt that contained the holster.
"Put this on once you get ready." Rhaegar nodded and you smiled.
"Eowyn will escort you, we will be in the dining hall waiting, do not take long."  You say and he nods. You all start making your way out the door, Aerys holding your skirt with his thumb in his mouth.
When the door closed Rhaegar couldn't help but feel overjoyed. The events from the previous night washed away. The new sense of responsibility and freedom from his parents overthrew everything.
-
"The tourney is being prepared as we speak, it should be finished by noon." Says Daemon who was balancing Aerys on his knee.
"Good, we already have guests and other houses arriving." You say as you fed Elyas. "As well as Daeron and his wife."
"That's good, w-will my mother be there?" Asks Aegon, and as you were trying to come up with the words, Rhaenyra beat you to it.
"Yes, Lady Alicent will be attending, she will be with us but has stated she won't be speaking to any of us or anything of the sort." Aemond and Aegon both bit their cheeks and they fumbled with their hands awkwardly. They loved their mother, no matter how much they went through with her, especially Aegon. It hurt that she wouldn't speak to them.
Alicent only spent her visit with Helaena and her children. She visited Rhaegar and Aerys and only greeted Elyas if he was in the room, never seeking him out. Her and Rhaenyra's relationship was beyond repair when Rhaenyra was crowned queen and beheaded her father. Maybe he deserved it maybe he didn't, he caused Rhaenyra suffering during her youth and turned many people against her, as well as trying to unsurp the throne to put Aegon on there but it was shut down.
"But on the bright side, Rhaena and Baela are arriving with Jace and Luke soon, and they'll be staying for the wedding." You say trying to brighten up the mood. Of course, you couldn't let your younger sisters in the dark, they knew everything that happened, and no doubt their husbands do too. "Daeron and Lady Baratheon just after the tourney, but in time for the celebration."
"Ah, the man of the hour." Your father says as he looks at the big doors. You turn to see your son standing there with a big smile on his face.
"Join us Rhaegar." Aemond patted a seat next to him and Rhaegar started walking towards him. Ser Eowyn trailed behind and pulled the chair back for Rhaegar and let him slide in before pushing it forward and stepping back.
"How has your day been?" Asks Rhaenerya and you swore you could see the boy shake in excitement.
"Father has gifted me a sword!"
"Oh, how exciting." She responds
"Lucky." Jaearhys pouts from the other side and Aegon raises an eyebrow.
"Well maybe if you attended your lessons you'd also have one." He poked his son's belly and he giggled.
"Alright let us eat, we are all famished." The queen says and instantly the food is brought out. Everyone dug in, passing plates of food around so everyone got their share.
"Aemond are you ready?" Suddenly asks Daemon from across the table. You looked at both of them and set your utensils down.
"Ready for what?"
"Father and Grandsire are going to be fighting against each other during the tourney." Your eyes widened as did everyone else's at Rhaegars words.
"Aemond, my love weren't you the one who said that you didn't give a shit about the tourney?" You placed a hand on his bicep and squeezed.
"I know what I said but my son wanted this and I will go through with it." You took in a deep breath before sitting back in your chair and grabbing the utensils again.
"Okay." You say almost in an amusing tone, the tone that scared Aemond quite a bit. "Rhaegar, what else would you like to do before the Tourney?"
"Um, would it be okay if uncle Aegon took me on Sunfyre?" Everyone looked at Aegon who had a blank stare.
"You'd have to ask him." You felt Aegon place a hand on your thigh and squeeze.
"If that's what you'd like, Sunfyre has been dying for a flight." Rhaegar nodded and sat back in his seat. Aegon released his grip on your leg and rubbed his thumb up and down.
"It's going to be alright."
Aegon didn't know if he believed you.
-
As the dragon keepers brought out Sunfyre from the pit, Aegon was fastening the last pieces of his riding gear as you helped Rhaegar into his. Aemond had to go and prepare himself to fight. He left quickly after the breakfast, as much as he loved you he did not want to hear an earful from you.
"Calm down Rhaegear." You say trying to calm him down.
"Im just so excited." He says, practically bouncing on his heels.
"I know baby." Sunfyre crawled out of the pit and let out a roar. Aegon mumbled something to his golden dragon while rubbing his large nose and the dragon seemed to respond in his own way.
"Whenever you are ready Rhaegar." Says Aegon as he now waits patiently by Sunfyre.
"Okay go." You say and he shot off to his uncle. You walked towards them and Aegon opened his arm.
"Are you sure you don't want to join us?"
"I'm sure, have fun now." You kissed the edge of his mouth. Aegon smiled and nuzzled your cheek with his nose and placed a kiss on your jaw.
Rhaegar looked up at his mother and uncle and furrowed his eyebrows at the man. But seeing the growing smile that adorned his mother's face made him relax.
"Alright ill go up first, Rhaegar you follow, carefully." Aegon started his way up Sunfyre and settled on the saddle. He then leaned to the side and held his hand out. Rhaegar grabbed on the ropes and hoisted himself up like he's done many times before. Aegon grabbed the boy a lifted him up onto the saddle.
"Come back before the tourney."
"Yes, princess." Aegon winked at you. "Soves Sunfyre." You stepped back as the golden dragon started walking towards the large exit before opening his wings and taking off.
-
"Where do you want to go?" Asks Aegon as they now flew over the Keep.
"Can we go over the sea?"
"Of course." He urged Sunfyre to the direction of the water and it wasn't long until they were over it.
"I love the water, do you?" Rhaegar asks and Aegon just chuckles.
"It makes me quite uneasy."
"Hmm." He grunted and Aegon smiled at the familiar sound.
"I remember my mom crying a lot and my parents fighting."
"Parents fighting is the worst," Aegon says, memories of his youth coming to mind.
"My father made my mother sad, but you make her happy... do you love my mother?"
"Of course, I love her more than life itself."
"Good, because if you didn't I'd have to kill you."
To say Aegon didn't fall nervous is an understatement. His eye flashed to the side and saw Rhaegars little hand on the handle of his sword.
"If you hurt her, I will hurt you." Receiving a threat from a 6-year-old was not something Aegon was expecting.
"I wouldn't dream of hurting your mother."
"Good." A silence fell over them, Sunfyre flapping in the air. "I'm still going to call you uncle, but I wouldn't mind if Aerys calls you father, he is still young, and doesn't understand."
Aegon's hands started to twitch as he tightened them.
"I appreciate that, but in the end, it's truly up to your parents."
"I know." Rhaegar looked down to see a ship flying the Velaryon and Targaryen flags. "I think those are my aunts and uncles." Aegon looked down and smiled.
"Why don't we go great them?"
"Really?" Rhaegar looked up at him with large violet eyes.
"Of course, I never miss a chance to give our family a scare." They smile at each other mischievously before Aegon urged Sunfyre to go up near the sun.
"Why so high?"
"Im assuming nobody has taught you battle tactics on dragon back?" Rhaegar shakes his head. "Well, say the enemy has yet to spit you yet, if you fly up just enough towards the sun the glare of it will shine on your enemies preventing them from seeing you until you're already attacking."
"That is smart." When they got into position Aegon made sure to tighten his arm around Rhaegar tightly.
"Hold on." Sunfyre started to dip down towards the ships. Rhaegar giggled, laughed, and screamed as the fast winds almost blew him away. But just before Sunfyre hit the water, Aegon pulled the reins gently and the dragon straighten out just behind the ships. The force Sunfyre created brought water in waves behind him, completely drenching the people in the ships. People shouted in displeasure as they watched the golden dragon take off.
"Sorry, Auntie," Rhaegear yelled loudly down to the ships and the twin sisters just shook their heads in displeasure when they noticed who it was.
-
"Please do not injure yourself or get killed by my father, he has many reasons to kill you." You say as you stand in the corner of Aemonds tent.
"He won't kill me, hurt me yes." He mumbles and you sigh. "When are Rhaegear and Aegon returning?"
"Hopefully-." You were cut off by the tent opening and a little boy running in.
"Father! Aegon took me so high up and we snuck up on my aunts and uncles it was exhilarating!" Rhaegar practically threw himself at Aemond.
"And how did you do that?" As Rhaegar explain the tactic to his father(that Aemond already knew), Aegon leaned over to you.
"He threatened me." Your eyes widened and Aegon just holds his hand out.
"It's alright, he must get it from being with Daemon so much. He just wanted to protect you."
"Hmph, doesn't mean it's right. Rhaegar let's go see your grandfather then sit down." You walked to them and placed a hand on Aemonds shoulder. "I'll see you later." You pecked his lips a few times before Aemond deepened it.
Rhaegar looked back at Aegon and he stuck his tongue out in disgust. Aegon chuckled at the reaction and shook his head.
"See you out there."
The brothers watched you leave hand in hand with Rhaegar.
"Well, now Daemon can now kill you without any legal consequences."
"I know."
"Don't die. Please." The sudden crack in Aegon's voice caught Aemond off guard. "Imagine how destroyed Y/n would be, your children, our mother, Helaena... Me. I've grown to really care about you brother." Aemond swallowed thickly and looked down.
"As have I." He says quietly. "I'm not dying, I can't even fathom leaving any of you behind."
"Good."
Aegon couldn't help but walk up to his brother and place his hand on the back of his neck and pulled him down. Aemond hesitated slightly but let his brother place his slightly chapped lips on his cheek. Aegon let his lips linger before pulling back. Aemond turned his head letting the tips of their noses brush gently.
"Kiss me." It came out a small whimper almost, Aegon could barely hear it.
"Win and I will."
-
Aegon settled in beside you and you immediately grabbed his hand.
"Did you talk to Daemon?"
"Yes and he said he wouldn't kill him, but that doesn't mean he won't do something."
"It's going to be fine." He pressed his lips to the back of your hand. He heard a familiar laugh to his side and looked to see his mother laughing with her ladies-in-waiting. He searched for her eyes but received nothing.
The Herald stepped out onto the ground and started saying what he had to say. It was quite boring so you just chose not to pay attention.
"Now for our first fight. Our Prince Consort, Daemon Targaryen versus Prince Aemond Targaryen." People cheered and screamed for them, you tried but only clapping came out.
Daemon came out on a black horse wearing his helmet with dragon wings on it. Aemond then came out on his grey horse he's had since his teens, he wore his heavy armor and a helmet that didn't hide most of his face, so it would make it easier on his eyesight.
They trotted their horses to the royal family stand and stopped side by side.
"I would like to ask for the favor of the Queen," Daemon says and lowers his head. Everyone looked at Rhaenyra and she stood up and walked to the table that carried all the favors of the other ladies and princess. They both smiled at each other, such admiration in their eyes.
"Princess Y/n, may I have your favor, it shall help ease me into victory." You grabbed your favor and tossed it on the poll. You leaned against the railing and frowned. "Don't do that gevie, ill be fine."
"Okay." You immediately turned away and sat back next to Aegon, watching the two men go to their spots. Aegon looked at you and watched a tear run down your cheek.
"Hey hey, don't do that." He grabbed your chin and tilted you towards him. "He's gonna be fine."
The Targaryen men went to their respective sides and waited for the horns. A fanfare started playing followed by drums. The Herold raised his flag and quickly lowered it.
They yelled and urged their horses to run. Right before they reached the middle, they lowered their poles down. But before they touched you instantly looked away just hearing the crash. Rhaegar cheered beside and Aegon elbowed you.
"Still on their horses." He kissed the side of your head. They were on opposite sides now, grabbing new polls to charge back at each other. This was usually the time when one would be knocked down, and it's never Daemon.
Aemond crashed to the floor and everyone sucked in a breath. Daemon hopped off his horse and was handed the Dark Sister and a shield. Aemonds sword was thrown at him and landed next to his head.
"Fuck." He groaned already regretting agreeing to this. He scrambled to his feet, swiping the sword in the process. Daemon was looking at him in amusement while slowly walking towards him. "Remember our agreement uncle?" Daemon just chuckled.
"Yes I know, but you think I will let you win so quickly without me getting a few strikes in." Daemon raised his sword to strike but was blocked by Aemonds shield. They grunted and yelled as they clashed. People cheered but Rhaegar seemed the loudest. He cheered for both his grandpa and father.
"You're getting old uncle," Aemond says as he watches Daemon pant and limp.
"And I can still kick your ass." It seemed to spur Daemon on so he charged. Aemomd doges and swung his sword back slashing Daemon. He cradled his side as blood started seeping through.
“I doubt that.” Aemomd almost laughed and they clashed again. It wasn’t long until Aemond manages to trick his uncle and knocked him to the ground. The people cheered loudly, some yelling to Aemond to finish Daemon.
“In any other circumstance, I would run you through,” Daemon says as Aemonds blade sits on his jugular.
“Not with your daughter and grandson here you won’t.” Aemond let the blade slice the skin slightly and watched the blood start to ooze out before pulling the sword away.
Aemond didn’t dwell on his victory and limped away from all the cheering.
-
The party was in full swing. The people were dancing and getting drunk. And it was now at the point where you could relax and enjoy yourself after feeding Elyas and making sure Aerys was asleep.
Rhaegar was enjoying the party, mostly because he got to play around with his cousins. Daemon has gifted him a small dagger and has been warned multiple times to not pull it out on his cousins.
Aemond got patched up but the fall from the tourney has kept him sat for the entire party.
Aegon twirled Jaehaera around.
You on the other hand got whisked away by your father for a dance.
“You bounced back quicker than Aemond.” You laugh and he chuckles.
“He still has much to learn if he ever wants to be as good as me.”
“He will be better.” You say and look at your husband who was in deep conversation with the queen. “I know it.”
“Hmm, Aegon seems to be doing better.”
“He is.”
“Does Rhaegar know? About the three of you?”
“He does, it will be slow but I know he will accept.” You look up and him and he smiles.
“I'm so proud of you.” He says and grabs the side of your head and placed a kiss on your forehead. Tears start to well up in your eyes and you sniffed.
“Thank you.” You wrapped your arms around his body and held him tight. Daemon hugged you back tightly, but the moment was short-lived.
Some bumped into you harshly making you stumble.
“Excuse me?” Daemon starts and he pulls away. An older man, a lord really, turns around and scoffs. “Apologize to the Princess.” Daemon places his hand on the hilt of his sword, at this point people have stopped and looked, Aegon ushered his daughter to her mother and moved his way to the crowd to stand next to you.
“I will not apologize to that whore.” People gasped. “She is unfaithful to her husband and had a bastard child with her husband’s brother, now the three of them are to be wed.”
“Choose your next words carefully, Lord,” Aegon says, darkly almost.
“I will not listen to a man who intends to marry a whore, and fathers a bastard at that. Who knows maybe all her fucking children are bastards. AHH FUCK.” He was suddenly stabbed in the thigh. When you all looked you saw Rhaegar holding his new dagger into the Lord's leg. “Oh, you stupid cunt.” The lord shoved Rhaegar hard to the ground earning more gasps.
“Shoving a Prince is treason, take him!” Rhaenerya yells at her guards and they start moving but it was too late. The lord suddenly had no head. His body fell to the ground and his head rolled toward the people. Aemond stood above him already cleaning his sword.
“Not a party without a death.”
You instantly ran to Rhaegar and grabbed him from the floor.
“Oh, my sweet dragon are you alright?”
“Yes, mama.” He says but you could see tears. “I wanted to protect you.”
“And you did,” Aemond says and crouches behind him. “You did well.” Rhaegar dug his face into your neck and you pulled him in tight. Aemond kissed both of your heads before standing. “I think we should turn in.” You nodded in agreement and kissed Rhaegars cheek before standing.
“Let's get you to bed.” You walked past everyone and left with Ser Eoywn in tow.
“I will oversee that the cunt is made into dragon food, the two of you should go with her.” Daemon says as the guards take the body.
“We will,” Aegon says and tugs on Aemonds arm.
-
“Okay go get ready and you can sleep with us tonight.” You tell Rhaegar and his eyes light up.
“Okay.” He runs out of the room almost knocking into Aemond and Aegon on the way.
“He is going to spend the night with us.” You tell them and they say nothing.
“Are you alright?”
“I guess.” Aegon pulled you into a hug.
“Don’t listen to what they say, it's not true.”
“I know.” You kiss his neck and pull away. You looked at Aemond and smile. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
Rhaegar came in already for bed, holding his knitted blanket and his Vermithor stuffed toy.
“Im ready!” You all laughed and he climbed on the huge bed.
“We’re going to get ready for bed you just wait there.” You say and walk away to change. Aemond goes to follow but Rhaegar calls for him.
“Kepa.” He turns around to his son.
“Yes?”
“Thank you for protecting me and mama.” Aemond can't help but smile.
“I will always protect all of you, until my last breath.”
Malleus X Reader Anonnie Review
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂☆
Anon's ask: I'm so mad I'm gonna eat the damn fae. My real TSUNOTARO is waiting, ain't time to love a cheap copy of him, soulmates be damned. That being said— I couldn’t hate Silver no matter the reality, he is my pookie. A sweetheart at heart, I mean, who could hate him? A professional hater, only.
I'M GLAD YOU LIKED ITT I love your reaction cause honestly same (╥﹏╥) also please don't eat fae you'll get a stomach ache anonnie. Masterlist Anonnie is talking about the Malleus x Reader which can be read here Please read it before going back here! Anon's Ask (I'm sorry i separated it, tumblr was going WACK on my poor ass. ⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂☆ If I were to dive deeper into this I would! (Once I finish requests, I'm a turtle writing) Maleficent Malleus wouldn't appreciate it if you call him a cheap copy of the original Malleus though (๑>؂•̀๑) He'd have you know that he's so MUCH better than your Malleus! He's already a king, that man's just an heir in the making, a child in his eyes! What do you even see in him? he knows how humans court, he knows how to make you happy, that Malleus of yours can't even understand you properly, what you need what you desire. he could give you EVERYTHING, so why even fight him for taking you? don't you see his vision? his dedication to wanting you to be his? Soulmates are super important for Maleficent Malleus! He'd probably apprehend you for such vulgarities coming out of your mouth! That is not befitting of a future royalty, sweetheart. He's sad that you're not making a lot of effort trying to become a befitting spouse for a king.
ACK SILVER! Yes, at first I was going to make him a bit cruel to you, the reader, but I just don't see him wanting any prisoners to be harmed, especially when he's such a sweetheart with a big heart. AND DID I MENTION THAT while I was freestyling the story, it almost came to the point that it felt like Silver x Reader, cause the guy was being soft and comforting to you, AND I WAS JUST LIKE NONONONO THIS IS MALLEUS X READER NOT SILVER, so I tried my best to not have him around that much especially around Reader CAUSE I JUST FEEL IT, THAT CONNECTION! (it could be seen as platonic too!) Also Silver along with Baur and Lilia would be the ones who would take care of you mentally, cause Maleficent Malleus is kind of a perfectionist, you won't really have a good relationship with him, he's toxic (obviously). So you seek solace from your retainers. Silver would be your comfort, the type that would be your pillow, if Malleus is not around, you could ask him to hug you, comfort you and he would! he doesn't like seeing you crying. He's upset at the poor treatment you're getting, while Malleus does provide everything you need, food, shelter, and his whole self. He seems what he's lacking and that's love. Lilia would be the rock in your life, he encourages you, and he even teaches you to fight back sometimes, but only fight back at Maleficent Malleus' toxicity with passive aggressiveness. He does try to talk some sense to his son. But there's only a few he could do. He does however successfully have a heart-to-heart talk with Malleus about your condition, that a "queen should feel comfort in their own home"
Baur, this grandpa, he's the one who would ask you if you want to go out, outside of Briar Valley, just to get a breather away from the darkness of the region, he would ask Malleus for permission to go out, his reasoning would be that weak humans like you do need sunlight and Briar Valley doesn't really give that much sunlight that a typical human needs. So with that, Malleus would agree, wanting to go with you but duty calls, so he decides to have Silver and Sebek come along with you. He trusts Baur but he knows that sometimes the grandfather gets reckless and stupid. He would use some type of magic to keep your face unrecognizable to locals since you're stuck in the body of a princess who went "missing". He doesn't want anyone to recognize you and report you to the royal family. Sebek lastly, at first he didn't like you, a weak human that caught the attention of not one Young master, BUT TWO?! what is so special about you? but he digress, if you truly are the soulmate and love of his Young Master, he will start treating you with respect. He's your bodyguard. He makes sure that you've been fed, clothed, and sleeping well. You are the spouse of THE young master, expect to be treated as such.
This ask helped me a lot with portraying my thoughts, thank you! I'll start by explaining a bit about Maleficent Malleus cause I love this unhinged man.
Warning: Possessiveness Maleficent Malleus does love you, it's just you see his love differently. He thinks possessing you as his lover would be considered as loving. You're his. He risked so much just for you to be his, so technically you don't have a choice but to love him. If he sees you talking with anyone other than his trusted allies. He'll use his magic to have you back into his lap, his blackened arms and tendrils wrapped around you. "Why even bother talking to another human when you have me?" He's the type to understand your rejection... if it was reasonable. For example, if you reject wanting to kiss him, that's fine by him, but rejecting his cuddling? nope, there's no reason for you to feel that uncomfortable around him to stop cuddling.
Whenever you talk about the other Malleus, he cuts you off by telling you that he is not around anymore, you have him, you talk about him, that Malleus cannot come back into your life, but you can have him. Unfortunately, if it starts affecting your health, feeling homesick, or missing your original lover, he will use his magic to erase those memories of yours of your former lover. While it might have side effects, he can deal with it. Anything to make you happy and his. Sometimes though, you frustrate him, he doesn't understand what's so appealing to desperately wanting to be with your Malleus, he's still Malleus! He doesn't see any differences, and his heart aches for that. Is he not enough? You weren't part of his life, you aren't supposed to be either, so you want him to watch as his other self is happier than him while he's there with an empty heart? an empty feeling of missing something that he wasn't supposed to be having? For Original Malleus, honestly, he's devastated, you died in front of him and he was too late to react to that kind of fluctuating magic, it even felt familiar, the way a black portal opened up beneath you, taking your body. :(( He's not feeling well, he's blaming himself, missing you. It all happened when one day, during your daily cuddles, he went to meet you, he oddly had a feeling that he was supposed to be around you today, so despite the initial exhaustion of his duties, he went to his usual spot, the outside of Ramshackle, and when he saw your bedroom light up, he looked up waving at you with a smile. You immediately went down, opening the door for him with that bright smile he loves. "Can't sleep? Child of Man?" he says, despite your peculiar relationship, he still calls you by nickname, he supposes he should go for a more… affectionate nickname. "Yeah, can we?" you gesture with open arms. He chuckles, effortlessly sweeping you off your feet. "Of course, how could I refuse?" he quips, planting a tender kiss on your forehead, eliciting a giggle from you.
Your soft voice fills his quiet night, he always loves listening to you describe your day, his hand brushing the hair falling on your face as you were on his side, head placed on his shoulder, while your hand is on his, your warmth serving as a comforter. Even if he was the type of Fae that doesn't need rest, he feels himself drifting to sleep cause of you.
However, as you two were starting to fall into the realm of unconsciousness, he suddenly felt a sudden surge of magic, scarily near you, eyes snapping open as he saw a green glint, pairs of hands grabbing you immediately, however, he gripped on your wrist, pulling you towards him, he tried to wake you up but you were too deep in sleep, making him realize that you have been doused by a type of sleep manipulation enchantment.
The dark entity being much stronger than him took you swiftly, the portal closing swiftly as his eyes widened.
During the time of your disappearance, he immediately informed Lilia, Sebek, and Silver, who were alarmed by what transpired. They already noticed that Malleus was restless when he came back, expression dim. The whole Night Raven College would be surrounded by deadly lightning, causing the students to stay indoors, and all outside activities would be stopped. Lilia had to inform Crowley of what happened, Grim, who didn't realize what happened blamed Malleus for it, however, it was only due to his shock and pain of losing you.
Ramshackle became inhabited, Lilia asking Crowley to have Grim be transported to a different location due to the dormitory being a scene of a crime. What's worst is that after a month of trying to find any type of connection to your kidnapper, he found your corpse, drained of life, just sitting on the couch where you two would cuddle. That cruel bastard, he didn't understand the purpose of shoving your dead body into a sentimental object that you two enjoyed using. He's still hopeful though surprisingly, he was furious yes, but he kept himself grounded, if it meant finding a way to save you, he'll do it, keeping your body frozen, he didn't see your soul die, and turn into a ghost, or ascend to heaven, he didn't. While his rational side thinks that it's time to move on, he doesn't he will never let you go. He will find a way to bring you back, even if it costs him his life. I had fun writing this. (ㅅ´ ˘ `)
A/N: as you've all guessed, here's Mingyu's Shiny Star! happy birthday, Gyu! this was fun to write and i'm pretty happy with how it turned out aha. hopefully yall would like this as much as i do, and pls do drop by and tell me what you think of this after you read
숨이 가득 차올라서 아무 말 하지 못했는데 I couldn’t say anything because I’m out of breath
너는 말 없이 웃으며 내 손 잡아줬죠 But you took my hands without saying anything but a smile
[✾✾✾]
This would sound annoying, but Mingyu is used to getting confessions. He enjoys the attention, enjoys knowing that people admire him even though he barely does anything. Yes, he’s handsome, has good grades, and is the star of the basketball team, but they all come effortlessly to Kim Mingyu.
He is God’s favorite, after all.
You genuinely think that whatever religion Mingyu believes in, every god that’s in charge of grace all helped to shape him.
But it’s not always a good thing. Because, fuck, it’s so stupid that your heart flutters when he grins at the audience after shooting a three-pointers. He’s not even looking at you, and he’s so cocky because he salutes to everyone as he runs through the court to hug his teammates. And yet butterflies would fly like crazy inside you and you want to hate it but you don’t.
Another reason why it’s stupid: you didn’t realize you’ve been staring at him–well, really, you’re staring at a random spot behind him because you’re zoning out, but it is him in your mind, so–until Mingyu tilts his head and asks if there’s something in his face because you’ve been staring at him for the past five minutes.
You blink at the question, as if brought back from a trance, and Mingyu chuckles and shakes his head before pouring water in the empty glass in front of you.
“You haven’t even drunk that much.” He grins as you thank him and take the water.
You’ve somehow been roped into the basketball team’s celebratory dinner, along with Chungha and Chaeyoung who are sitting on the other side of the table. Well, not somehow, you guess, because you’re friends with those two girls (who basically possess free passes to every social function in the university) and your childhood friend, Jeon Jungkook, is also in the team. Which means, you actually hang out a lot with the guys–and that includes Mingyu.
He’s barely even a friend despite your embarrassing crush, and you’re not that close even if you hang out a lot with the team.
“What’s bothering you?” Jungkook plops down beside you once Chungha goes to the restroom. He’s noticed you’ve been distracted from earlier, but you don’t seem to be in a bad mood or anything–simply too deep in your own thoughts.
You consider shaking your head and telling him nothing. What can you say anyway? ‘No biggies, I just have a crush on your captain here.’
“Just… something.” You leave it at that.
Jungkook isn’t the closest friend you have and you don’t always tell him everything, but he’s known you for way too long to know how to read your body language and your mood. Which is cool, but not really when you feel like hiding something.
That, together with his curiosity and his tendency to pry when he has nothing else to care about is not a combination you’re particularly fond of.
He narrows his eyes at you, and before he can say anything, you take a spoonful of cake and shove it inside his mouth with an innocent smile. Mingyu chuckles from across you both, and Jungkook glares at you even though he happily swallows the cake and frowns in delight after.
“I’m not letting this go.” He says under his breath before throwing an arm on top of your chair.
“Whatever you say.” You roll your eyes. “Don’t you have some girl to flirt with? Why are you here?”
“What, I can’t be with you? The oldest friend I have in my life?” He mocks a heartache, which you don’t even pretend to care about. Jungkook doesn’t usually sit beside you during this kinda gathering because someone always pulls him first, and you’re sure he wants something from you. He pouts at your deadpanned eyes. “My social battery is out. I want to go home.”
“I’m not your mom.”
“They won’t let me go if I ask.” He whines like a kid. “Tell them you want to go home so I can go with you? Please?”
Mingyu watches the interaction in amusement. He knows a lot of people envy you for being able to bring this side out of Jungkook, but anyone with a working brain cell can tell that there’s nothing sort of romantic between you two. Even from the very first time he saw you, he could already tell that you and Jungkook are nothing but friends.
But sometimes people just see what they want to see, though fortunately you don’t seem to care about stuff like that. Mingyu doesn’t know you well enough, but it’s clear that you’re your own person and you don’t really care about what people say about you.
He’s seen first hand you ignoring some girl saying shit in front of your face due to your close relationship with Jungkook, simply saying ‘you done? I have class in ten minutes’ after they rambled and leaving them dumbfounded after. (He thinks you’re so cool after witnessing that by accident.)
It’s not a secret that Jungkook is protective of you though. He always is when it comes to his friends. And Mingyu also knows that some of his friends have backed out from shooting their shots because they don’t want to go through Jungkook.
Cowards.
If he was interested in you, he wouldn’t care all that much about Jungkook.
Alas.
“I’ll take you to that dessert place in Cheongdam if we go home now.” He hears Jungkook whisper, though he doesn’t see why the guy is whispering when no one seems to be listening to his hushed conversation with you except for him, that is.
“You’re paying.” You add before you stand up and announce you’re tired so you’re taking Jungkook home with you. Some people try to convince you to stay for a little bit more, but you make up some reasons about having to wake up early tomorrow.
“Can’t believe you’d use your friend like that, man.” Mingyu jokes when you leave to say bye to Chaeyoung and Chungha.
Jungkook shrugs. “That’s what friends are for.”
You tell Jungkook you’re ready to leave, and he immediately stands up from his seat and slings an arm around your shoulder. You give Mingyu a smile and a wave before proceeding to do the same to everyone else.
He fails to notice your shy demeanor when your eyes meet his, but Jungkook doesn’t and he brings it up the moment you’re inside the comfort of his car.
“So. Mingyu, huh?”
At this point, you’re not even surprised. But you’re going to play stupid first because why make it easy for him to pry?
“What’s with him?”
“Don’t play dumb.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Since when have you been crushing on him?” He shoots straight to it, and plasters his face right in front of yours.
You swat his face away and tell him to start the car already.
“I’m not doing shit until you tell me.”
“I thought you said you’re out of social battery?”
“You know you don’t count.”
“Oh, how special I’m feeling right now.”
You and Jungkook go into a stare off, and  it’s during times like this that you hate his big, circle eyes because they get on your nerves. You sigh and repeat what you said earlier, saying that you’ll tell him as he drives you back home.
“You know I’m not going to say anything about it, right?” Jungkook says just in case.
“I know. I simply didn’t tell you because it’s nothing but a crush.” You connect your phone to his car’s bluetooth, choosing a random playlist on your Spotify. “I don’t like him enough for it to be worth mentioning.”
Apparently, he doesn’t believe this.
“Since when?”
“Why does it matter?”
“Since when?”
You sigh, regretting giving in to him.
“Like… a few months ago? That time you had practice until 1 in the morning and you asked me to pick you up.”
Jungkook’s answer is immediate together with a click of his tongue. “That’s not a crush alright. That was almost a semester ago.”
“Almost. So it’s not a semester ago.” If he wants to play stubborn, so can you.
“If you don’t like him enough, you wouldn’t be avoiding his eyes and zone out the way you did.”
“So, I’m a little shy, is that wrong?”
He softens at your defensive tone, and he takes one of your hands to squeeze it in comfort before letting it go.
“You know that’s not what I mean. Sure, let’s say it’s nothing but a crush–”
“–because it is–”
“–Why are you not doing anything about it? It’s been at least five months and you see him quite regularly.”
“I told you. It’s just a crush.” You shrug, failing to see why Jungkook is making a big deal out of this. “I don’t see us getting together. He’s way out of my league.”
Jungkook is actually so shocked he steps on the brake with a sudden force. Thankfully, it’s 11PM on a Thursday night and the road is practically empty.
“What the fuck do you mean he’s out of your league?” He’s offended for your sake, you realize, and while it warms you a little to know that he cares about you to this extent, you still don’t see why Jungkook is so adamant about this whole thing. “He’d be lucky to have you.”
“Dunno. Just feel that way. But like I said, it’s nothing but a crush, Kook. It’ll pass.”
He’s not satisfied with this answer, but you do that thing where you cross your arms and look out the window of his car, a sign that you’re done with this conversation.
So Jungkook drops it even though he’s skeptical it’ll really pass just like that. It’s not often that you’re interested in someone, and he knows for a fact that you tend to fall long and deep.
You ask him when he’ll be free to take you to the dessert place he promised earlier.
[✾✾✾]
Jungkook forgets time when he’s playing basketball, and it seems like hes also forgotten he’s promised to drive you home today.
The day has felt particularly long for you for no reason and you figure it’s probably just one of those days. Since you woke up this morning, going home is the only thing you’re looking forward to, and if that doesn’t say enough, the fact that you don’t even have it in you to be annoyed at your friend should suffice because you really just want to go home and end the day.
There’s no time nor energy to be annoyed.
He doesn’t reply to your text when you ask where he is, and when you text Minghao and he says he’s on court, you simply exhale a deep breath before making your way there.
Mingyu is about to exit the court when you come in, and you don't realize just how bad your mood is until you see him and you don’t feel the usual rush of excitement. You don’t even register that it’s him until he calls you.
“Are you… okay?” He asks when he notices you’ve just noticed it’s him greeting you.
“Ah… yeah. Just one of those days.” You shrug, your smile way too polite for his liking. He doesn’t think he’s seen you like this, but, then again, he’s only seen so much of you.
That fact suddenly bothers him somehow.
For some reason, Mingyu feels like talking more. “You’re here to see Jungkook?”
In any other scenario, you would’ve noticed the question is stupid. You really only come there for Jungkook. Sometimes you’d go because Chaeyoung or Chungha wants to watch them practice, but you never go there alone if not for your childhood friend. This is a fact that everyone in the team is aware of.
Alas, you’re tired and you just want to go home.
“Yeah. He’s driving me home.”
If Mingyu notices how small your voice is, you don’t notice any shift in him because you’re too out of it.
“I don’t think he’s going to finish anytime soon.” He frowns, turning to where Jungkook is. The guy hasn’t noticed you yet, your figure is probably partly hidden by Mingyu’s and he’s way too focused on the game to see you anyway.
Mingyu isn’t sure what makes him say what he says next, but he does anyway.
“Do you… want me to bring you home instead?”
You’re so surprised that you practically snap your neck to finally see him in the eyes. You’re probably looking at him weird, because Mingyu immediately says he’s simply offering because you look too tired to be waiting around for Jungkook.
“Oh… no, sorry. Just didn’t expect you to offer, that’s all.” You reassure him. “I wouldn’t want to burden you, anyway. But thanks for offering.”
“You sure?” He asks, once again telling you that the current game has just started and Jungkook’s going to take quite some time to finish. “I don’t mind, really.”
Tomorrow, when your mood has picked up and your weak-ass-Mingyu-centric heart has started to work again, you’d wonder about why Mingyu offered at all. You’d be thinking about it for days to come, making all sorts of scenarios in your head.
But that’s a problem for you tomorrow. Right now you just want to go home with Jungkook because you can’t be bothered to walk to the bus stop when he has a perfectly working car that you can let your guard down in.
Plus, he has promised to bring you home. Since you stepped into the university this morning, you’ve been imagining going into his car, staring into space, and arriving right in front of your door without much hurdles. That’s what you want right now.
It’s then that Jungkook finally catches your eyes. He takes one glance at you and drops the basketball, the guy in front of him curses until he sees you; seemingly understanding the reason with your presence.
“You okay?” He asks right away, and when you tell him you want to go home, he curses and apologizes for forgetting to pick you up at your building. He wouldn’t be this courteous had you been in your usual mood, probably would ask you to wait until the game ended, but Jungkook knows when not to push it and today is certainly that day. “I’ll just get my stuff, okay?”
He only notices Mingyu after he says this, and when he asks his friend what he’s doing with you, it’s you who tells him to move faster because you’re tired.
“I’ve never seen Jungkook let go of a basketball so fast.” He remarks after the guy leaves, making you chuckle a little.
“He knows when I’m tired.” You offer. “And I’m not tired often, so…” Before Mingyu can say anything, you add, “Anyway, thanks again for offering. I appreciate it.”
“Anytime.” He says, surprisingly genuine and a little bit hopeful with what he says after. “If Jungkook is ever unavailable, feel free to text me and I’ll take you home instead if I could.”
You wonder if Mingyu does this to everyone he knows.
Chaeyoung and Chungha squeals the next day when you tell them about it, already betting that Mingyu is into you because there’s no way he’s not interested if he offers (insists?) to take you home like that.
You tell them he’s probably just being nice and it means nothing.
Your head (and heart) disagrees and you continue to think about it for weeks to come.
[✾✾✾]
Unfortunately, Jungkook is correct when he said you like Mingyu a little too much for it to just be another crush.
You’re not even sure how it comes to be, but the feeling now bothers you because you’d frown when you see yet another poor soul confessing to Mingyu even if they’re rejected; because you’d look at Lisa and wonder what it’s like to be her who can freely hog Mingyu to herself because they’re that comfortable with each other; because you’d find yourself staring at him a little too long that Chaeyoung needs to remind you not to be too obvious; because you’d be too conscious around him that you’re not you anymore everytime you hang out with the team now.
You hate it.
You hate being conscious around your friend and you’re trying to find a way to let go of your feelings.
“Confess to him?” Chaeyoung offers. “Or I suppose talking to Jungkook would be better. He’d know what to say because he’s close with the guy. Or do you want me to ask Lisa? I talk to her from time to time.”
“Confess, huh.” You ponder, the idea has never crossed your mind before. Things might get awkward between you and Mingyu after, but you’ll live because it’s not like you’re super close or anything. There’s no real loss, if you want to be completely honest.
Perhaps confessing would be the closure you need: have him reject you and move on. Sometimes a cold slap of reality is what you need, anyway.
“You think I should tell Kook first? Just in case it gets awkward between them?”
“Wait, you’re really considering it?” Chungha sits straight, not expecting you to actually take the idea. “What if he rejects you?”
“That’s the goal. Get rejected and move on.”
The two girls share a look, unsure what to say.
“But… you’ll be heartbroken…”
“At least it means I’ll finally get my closure. That’s the first step of moving on.” You’re a little too cool about the whole thing for their liking, but you’ve always been this kind of person and they don’t see why they should stop you if you think that’s what you need.
“You sure?”
You’re not, but you don’t think you have any other choice and the feeling is starting to get very irritating. So you make your way to the basketball court to find Jungkook after class.
Of course, it’s the object of your affection who sees you first, and you give him a tightlipped smile before asking for your friend.
Apparently, he’s in the changing room, and after sending a junior to call for Jungkook, Mingyu starts a small talk to keep you company. “He’s taking you home again today?”
“Ah, no. Got something to talk about real quick.” You say with an awkward smile. Like you say, you hate being conscious like this, you’re sure Mingyu can feel your awkwardness, and you hate that you might’ve made him uncomfortable too without meaning to.
Poor thing doesn’t even know why you’re being awkward.
“Sup.” Jungkook calls for you the moment he steps into the court, and you wave at Mingyu before leaving him by himself to go to Jungkook.
He watches you take your friend by the arm to a corner where no one’s around, and then he sees Jungkook shake his head before you two start whispering to each other. He’s pretty sure Jungkook’s eyes linger at him for quite a few seconds before he looks at you again, his palm squeezes your arm once before he says something that Mingyu obviously can’t make out from where he’s at.
He’s not sure why he’s paying this much attention, but he is and he wonders if something has happened to you because Jungkook looks concerned, a frown evident on his face. He bites his lip a little, and Mingyu looks away when Jungkook glances at him once more.
Are you two talking about him?
There isn’t really anything to talk about though… right?
Something nags on the back of his head, but Mingyu can’t quite tell what it is and he’s not sure what to make out of it anyway.
Why… does he care again?
“You’re leaving?” Mingyu asks when he sees you make your way to him. At your nod and your small smile, Mingyu finds himself asking before he can even stop himself. “Are you okay?”
You seem surprised, but the corner of your lips lift a little higher when you assure him that you’re fine. You hesitate before you say your next words, but Mingyu patiently waits anyway.
“Are you… playing today?”
“Me? No, I’m done for the day. Why?”
“Can I talk to you for a bit?”
Mingyu blinks in confusion, not seeing where this could be going at all. Does this have to do with whatever you were talking about with Jungkook earlier?
“Sure.” He shrugs. And when he looks around, his eyes meet Jungkook’s whose expression isn’t all that readable. “Here?”
You end up somewhere outside the building, where it’s quiet and no one’s present. If Mingyu isn’t too caught up in concern, he would notice that this scenario is way too familiar; one that he’s gone through one too many times. After all, how many times have people told him they needed to tell him something and brought him somewhere quiet to confess?
But it doesn’t even occur to him. Perhaps he simply doesn’t think you’re into him and there’s obviously no way this talk would go down that road.
“Are you really okay?” Mingyu asks again, even more concerned this time. It’s then that he realizes that this is the first time when it’s just the two of you. You’ve never talked with him privately before, don’t really have any reason to.
“Yeah. Just need to tell you something.”
You feel like you’re going to burst if you delay it even one more second, so you just blurt it in one go to get it over with.
“I like you.”
Obviously, it’s not something that Mingyu can simply get over with.
“I’m sorry?”
He looks extremely confused, most likely caught off guard. But you’re happy to know that you’re feeling lighter now that you’ve let it out there. You find yourself not really caring about what Mingyu has to say, which is selfish on your part, but you’re really just glad that you feel better almost instantly after you say it out loud.
“I’m not expecting anything, don’t worry.” It’s the first time Mingyu has received a confession where the other party doesn’t seem shy and expectant and he’s not sure what to make of your relieved smile. “It’s a little selfish of me, but I just think it’d be better to confess and leave it there.”
You’re way too busy being glad to notice Mingyu is frozen in place, not expecting the relief to be that instant. You would’ve confessed earlier if you knew, but what matters is you finally did and you can only hope Mingyu won’t feel awkward with Jungkook. You can just not come to the game for a bit if it’s uncomfortable for anyone, but Jungkook is in the team and you’d hate to make it weird for them.
“Anyway, no need to be awkward with Jungkook, alright? I already told him everything.” What did you say to him, exactly? Mingyu wants to ask, but he’s too dumbfounded to even say anything. And it’s when you tell him that’s all you had to say before turning to leave that he snaps out of it and takes your arm in reflex.
“Sorry–wait. No.” He stumbles over his words. The way you’re looking at him in question is adorable, and Mingyu suddenly wonders if you’ve always been this cute. Has he simply not realized because you’re always with Jungkook?
Anyhow, this doesn’t feel like a confession at all despite your honesty about your feelings. Who confesses and leaves before hearing an answer?
You, apparently.
But, then again, what is he doing stopping you from leaving? It’s not like he reciprocates your feelings or anything. But it feels weird to be on the receiving end of a confession like this. Shouldn’t he thank you for not making him reject you?
“Wait. You… like me?”
“Is it weird?” You frown, almost offended. You look at his fingers on your wrist, and Mingyu squeezes it once before letting go.
“No! No, that’s not what I meant.” He waves in denial. “Just… uh… didn’t expect it, I guess.”
You laugh with a shake of your head, and this is truly the first confession Mingyu has ever received in which the other person isn’t nervous and isn’t asking for a chance. You’re not even showing any sign of being shy.
If anything, you look even more relaxed than before.
“Well, like I said I’m not expecting anything from you.” Mingyu wonders if you’ve ever smiled this big around him before. He’s pretty sure you haven’t, because he would remember a smile this beautiful otherwise. “So, no need to say anything back and, again, don’t be awkward with Jungkook, okay? If it’s uncomfortable for you, I can just not go to the games for a while.”
Are you seriously thinking about him being awkward with Jungkook when it’s you confessing to him right now?
“You don’t need to… uh… not go.” Mingyu stutters out of nowhere, and he curses himself for being awkward when you don’t even seem uncomfortable in the slightest bit. “We don’t need to be awkward, right?”
You shrug, your face void of any awkwardness. “If you say so. I’ll be on my way now. Thank you for not being weird about this, by the way.”
And as you leave him with a much better mood he found you in earlier, Mingyu wonders why he feels like he’s the one being rejected when it’s you confessing to him.
[✾✾✾]
You have expected Mingyu to be a little weird and awkward around you after the confession.
But you didn’t expect him to be around you.
It seems like, after the whole thing, he’s adamant to be close to you everytime he could. He’d sit beside you when you join team dinner, he’d accompany you when you’re waiting for Jungkook, and he’d even reply to your Instagram stories from time to time.
You don’t think too much about it, though it does annoy you a little because it’s making moving on harder. At least you’re no longer conscious around him and the others, which was the most annoying thing before and what drove you to confess in the first place.
Chaeyoung and Chungha (even Jungkook) ask you about it from time to time, but you’re consistent in your answer: that there’s nothing going on between you two and you simply confessed for the sake of confessing.
It’s been about a month since you confessed and Mingyu is immensely confused.
For someone who claims to like him, you’re not showing any sign that you’re into him at all. If anything, you seem uninterested; like he’s just a friend of a friend (which he kinda is). At some point, Mingyu even wonders if you’re simply messing with him.
He also wonders if that’s the reason why he starts paying attention to you instead. He becomes conscious of your presence, and he dares to say he’s enjoying it.
He finds himself smiling when you do, and he finds himself leaning to where you’re at every chance he gets.
And now, he finds himself thinking why you confessed the way you did. Why didn’t you ask for a chance? Mingyu is straightforward when it comes to turning down confessions, but he suddenly wonders if he’d try it out with you had you not simply gone on your way that day.
If there’s one thing Mingyu is bad at, it’s containing his curiosity. That, along with the fact that you seem pretty chill, pushes him to where he’s at right now: with you in the bubble tea place in front of university.
Jungkook and Minghao are whining for some, and when you volunteer to get it for them, it leads to a couple of other members of the team to ask the same too. Before Jungkook sighs and offers to go with you, Mingyu volunteers first because he wants to.
There. He admits it. He wants to spend some time with you.
As you two wait for your orders, you both sit at one of the tables and that’s when Mingyu decides to ask.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Hm?”
“When you… uh… confessed to me.” You don’t seem appalled to be talking about it, which encourages Mingyu to continue. “Why… Did you say you’re not expecting me to answer?”
“Uh, because I know you’re not into me? I know you’re going to reject me anyway.”
Mingyu frowns, his fingers that are drumming against the table stop at your words. “Why would you assume that?”
“Well, am I wrong?” You chuckle, and he doesn’t know what to make of your nonchalance. But he knows that it bothers him that you automatically think he’d reject you. Is that the kind of image you have of him? (It’s not entirely untrue, he is clear when it comes to rejection.) Or do you simply think he wouldn’t be into you?
“What if I say you are?” Mingyu decides to go for it. What he feels for you is not strong enough to be called ‘love’, maybe not even ‘like’ just yet, but he’s definitely into you and the thought of spending time with you has been clouding his thoughts over and over again like a heavy rain these days.
He can definitely see–no–feel himself falling for you deeper as time passes by. He just needs more time to get there, preferably with you.
“What are you saying?” You shake your head, trying to hide the fact that you’re flustered like your heart isn’t beating way too fast that it almost hurts. What is he saying, really?
“Go on a date with me.”
“No.”
Mingyu blinks, sure that he’s heard wrong. “No?”
But you’re clear when you repeat your answer.
“What do you mean no?” He asks, genuinely confused. “Didn’t you just say you liked me, like, a month ago?”
“I told you I simply confessed for the sake of it.” You remind him, though your calm tone relaxes him in ways he can’t really explain. Perhaps he’s just glad you’re not making a big deal out of it. “I’ve never had any thoughts of dating you.”
“Why?”
“You’re you.” You say like it’s obvious, but Mingyu is once again offended for you and he frowns before he asks.
“What does that even mean?”
“You’re Kim Mingyu, the basketball star with the perfect GPA.” You start to list all of his titles and his accomplishments in university, and it’s the first time that Mingyu doesn’t feel good at someone complimenting him. For once, he’s not all that proud of those things you’ve just listed down. “And I’m… me. People probably only know me as Jungkook’s close friend. Chaeyoung and Chungha’s plain friend. And I don’t mind being known as such, but it should explain why I don’t think I have any chance with you.”
Mingyu frowns, and he stares at you a little too hard that you can’t tell at all what he’s trying to express.
“I don’t like how you imply you’re not exceptional.”
“Because I am not.” You shrug, not getting why Mingyu sounds upset. “And it’s okay. Nothing bad about being ordinary. I like being ordinary. I can’t imagine getting all that attention you get everywhere you go.”
Mingyu kind of gets what you’re saying, but he still doesn’t like that you consider yourself ordinary. Nothing, not one single thing, that you’ve done to him has been ordinary. Not the way you confessed, not the way you act after you confessed, not the words you’re telling him right now.
And, now that he’s been paying more attention to you, nothing you do is sort of ordinary. You’re straightforward when you need to be, and you know exactly what you want and how to say them without sounding demanding. You’re not soft spoken and he means it in the best way possible, you’re good at reading the room and you know when to play dumb if that’s what the situation calls for. You know when to prioritize yourself and when you should prioritize your friends without being too selfless nor selfish.
If someone like you is what you consider ordinary, he doesn’t know what kind of person you’d consider special.
To Mingyu, you’re already as special as someone can possibly be.
How can you be ordinary if you confessed and then said ‘no’ when the said person asked you out on a date?
Wait. Did you think he was kidding?
“Anyway, I wasn’t kidding when I asked if you want to go on a date with me.”
“And I wasn’t kidding when I said no.” You chuckle a little, making Mingyu all the more confused.
“Why?”
“I told you. You’re Mingyu.” When he demands more explanation with the look in his eyes, you finally give in to honesty. “You’re too handsome. Too perfect, in fact. It’s burdensome to be with you. I don’t feel worthy enough.” You scrunch your face, and Mingyu needs to contain himself before he reaches out to squish your face.
Funnily enough, Mingyu doesn’t feel offended when you say this, just entirely dumbfounded that the things that are supposedly good are the reason why you don’t want to go on a date with him. Plus, what do you mean you’re not worthy enough?
“I’m nothing like that. No one is perfect”
You roll your eyes and wave a hand in dismissal. “Yeah, yeah. Whatever. You’re still too handsome. If you’re, like, only a little handsome, I would’ve said yes.”
Mingyu bursts into laughter, not getting what you’re saying at all and finding the whole thing funny at this point. But if there’s one thing you should’ve known about him, it’s that he’s stubborn and he’s competitive.
He’s not the basketball captain for no reason.
“You know you’re not making any sense?” He asks after his laughter dies down. But then something hits his mind and he gets serious. “Do you not like me anymore?”
“I still do.” You reassure, much too chill like the feeling doesn’t bother you. Should Mingyu be grateful? “But I told you you’re too handsome and a little burdensome to date. That’s why I confessed, did I not tell you? I just wanted you to reject me and move on from then.”
Mingyu blinks once. And then twice. Mouth a little ajar as his head tries to proceed your words
Not one single word from your mouth makes sense. Did you just say you confessed to him because you want to get rejected? Anyhow, now he knows you still like him and that leaves him one thing to do: convince you to go on a date with him.
“There’s no way I’m letting you move on.” He grins, now sure about his plan moving forward. You look at him confused, though he can tell that you’re a little flustered and he can’t help but think he wants to see more of that. “You’re going on a date with me, alright?”
You huff a chuckle, incredulous, and one corner of your lip lifts in genuine amusement. “I guess if you’re able to convince me somehow.”
“Deal.” Mingyu grins and you feel giddiness fill you inside out like never before as he stares at you with determination. “Remember that you allowed me to try. You don’t get to complain later on that I won’t stop following you every chance I get.”
