We're nearing the end of January, which means it's time for the second instalment of my Fandom project! As you may or may not have seen, in the first instalment, I focused on children's and young adult literature, but this time around, we're switching media, and the list is way longer than last time. Buckle up! This time, we will look at pop artists, and I was surprised at how many Wikis are abandoned or need more love.
To repeat what I said in the last post, getting involved on Fandom is not as intimidating as it may look. Here, you can find an easy step-by-step guide on how to get started, but you can also message me, & I will help you through any questions you may have.
Before we dive in, if you don't have a favourite group or artist or you just love all types of music, you can check out the Music Hub. There is also the Boyband Wiki if that's more to your taste. But the most extensive pages I have encountered are the JPop, KPop, & K-Indie Wikis.
Since there's a lot to tackle this time, I will just name & link to the wikis & not like the last instalment where I gave suggestions on what one can help with. Without further ado, let's get started!

Lucifer - SHINee (샤이니)
Tumblr media
watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dww9UjJ4Dt8&ab_channel=SMTOWN
This week’s old school kpop recommendation is Lucifer by SHINee (prounced shiny). Lucifer is definitely a classic and one of SHINee’s iconic songs (but really, most title tracks by SHINee are iconic in their own right).
"Lucifer" was written by Bebe Rexha and Yoo Young-jin and is described as a ‘game-changing tune’ propelled by electro-pop and futuristic synth effects. This song showed a new edgier side to the group. I really believe that this song, paired with exciting choreography, changed the game for kpop and pushed a lot of new challenging choreo in the industry.
For their outstanding choreography for Lucifer, they were nominated for Best Dance Performance Award at the 2010 MAMA.
Fun fact: SM included ‘slicing through the air’ sound effects for their choreo in the beginning which still to this day I find really funny.
Released July 19th, 2010, this comes from their second full album of the same title, being re-released on their repackaged album, Hello, October 1st 2010.
Tumblr media
The album Lucifer won the Disk Bonsang Award at the 25th Golden Disk Awards, as well as the Popularity Award.
Their second album Lucifer (2010) produced two singles, "Lucifer" and "Hello".  Lucifer also won the Disk Bonsang Award at the 25th Golden Disk Awards as well as the Popularity Award.
Tumblr media
Members left to right: Onew (leader, orange jacket), Taemin (maknae, yellow jacket), Jonghyun, Key, Minho
SHINee is a group formed under SM Entertainment in 2008. They have won numerous amount of accolades and are known as the “Princes of Kpop” in South Korea. Originally a five-member group, vocalist Kim Jonghyun died in December 2017. Currently they are still active.
They debuted in May 2008, with their debut song Replay (which I’m really hoping you all know as it’s truly a bop even to this day). They gained attention for starting a fashion trend amongst students, which was dubbed “The SHINee trend”.
SHINee are considered to be one of the best live vocal groups in kpop and are known for their intricate but synchronised choreographies, earning them Best Dance Performance three times in a row from MAMA. Their signature style of music is known to be R&B, but they’ve experimented with a lot of genres over their years of being a group.
Their fandom name is SHINee World, most popularly known Shawols, and their fandom colour is pearl aqua. They also have fandom names for individual members which are as followed:
ONEW - MVPs (based from one of his lines in their debut song Replay)
JONGHYUN - Blingers
MINHO - Flames
KEY - Lockets
TAEMIN - Taemints

Muller's first taste of professional film came working as a third assistant on the 1984 horror/thriller Company of Wolves. She then went on to work for International Film and Video, honoring her for her editing, producing, and directing skills.
Muller's goal was to become a successful director in her own right, and her big break came through a chance meeting with John Stewart (brother of Eurythmics' Dave Stewart) and Billy Poveda of Oil Factory, an established film production company.
She has directed over two hundred music videos and has been a longtime collaborator with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, No Doubt, Shakespears Sister, Garbage, Blur, Annie Lennox and Eurythmics. Her work with Annie Lennox won her a Grammy for the Diva video album. She also picked up an MTV Video Music Award for Lennox's 1992 hit "Why", and was also Grammy nominated for the Eurythmics' 1987 Savage video album. In total, Muller has directed over twenty videos for Lennox and Eurythmics and has a long time collaboration with producer Rob Small.
The video for "Stay" by Shakespears Sister in which she directed was spoofed by many British comedians at the time including French & Saunders and Mr. Blobby as well as winning the BRIT Award for Best Video and also The Music Week Award for Best Video at both of the ceremonies' 1993 Awards.
She has directed eleven videos for Sophie Ellis-Bextor including "Take Me Home", "Murder on the Dancefloor", "Catch You", two versions of "Music Gets the Best of Me" and "Love Is a Camera".
Muller has also directed nine videos for No Doubt as well as nine solo videos for Gwen Stefani. When No Doubt's "Don't Speak" won the award for Best Group Video at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards, Stefani thanked her extensively, saying "I'd like to say that Sophie Muller is a genius." Stefani has also stated,
Sophie Muller is one of my most talented friends. She can and will only do projects that she is inspired by. She is driven by creativity and the love for what she does and as a result she never compromises. I consider her a true artist. I was a fan of Sophie's work before I even imagined working with her. She has a very pronounced style and taste that drew me in. I think she has the gift of being able to bring out the artist's personality, emotion and style. After working with her for the first time on our "Don't Speak" video, we became close friends [...]. On the set her direction is humble and simple, but she knows what she wants and knows when she gets it. A woman in charge in the male-dominated world of filmmaking makes the whole experience that much more exciting. [...] She has a way of making every cut have a reason and meaning. The videos have a life of their own and become better each time you watch them. I am always in shock the first time I see them and then after a few more times I am actually amazed. She has taught me a lot and I feel very lucky to have worked with her.[1]
The artwork for The Jesus and Mary Chain's 1994 album, Stoned & Dethroned, and the singles accompanying it, is composed entirely of stills from the video to the group's song "Sometimes Always", which was directed by Muller. She also directed the video for "Come On", which also appears on the album.
Muller states that her only ambition is to continue directing to her own high standards and to never grow bored. In 2004, she directed the socially aware video for Sarah McLachlan's "World on Fire",[2] where all but $15 of the entire $150,000 video budget was donated to charities. Recently, she has directed videos for Shakira, Mika, Kings of Leon, Brandon Flowers, Tom Odell and the critically acclaimed video for the Dixie Chicks, "Not Ready to Make Nice".

Note
"the reasons i hate so much of the discourse surrounding Girls and by extension similar music is isnt so much about the songs themselves, its about people being particularly harsh towards women artists making this kind of content, even when its about their own experiences" the song was written by Cardi B and 5 men, who I promise you had more say in it than Cardi did. it is in no way a song made by women about their experiences. it's a fetish song written by men about their fantasies of wlw.
Lmfao pls get ur facts straight. The primary artist is Rita Ora, a wlw. Other contributors were Cardi B, Charli XCX, and Bebe Rexha. A full list of the writers are, as stated by the wiki page “[Rita] Ora, Klenord Raphael, Ali Tamposi, Jonny Coffer, Jordan Thorpe, Cardi B, Brian Lee, Wattand Benjamin Diehl.”
Lots of songs have several co-writers, some of whom are men, including a lot of “girl power songs” or songs by women artists and even including Good and Pure™ songs by wlw for wlw. (Check out this post for instance: http://verityandbiscuits.tumblr.com/post/173855113366). It doesnt change the fact that it was primarily Ora’s project, and that Ora is currently taking the brunt of the criticism.
I love how you quoted my post but missed all of what i said. Who wrote the song and the content of the song isnt the biggest problem i have; a lot of the Bad Discourse has nothing to do with the music itself and everything to do with posts ppl are making about the controversy and how ppl are treating Ora and other women artists in similar situations.
